NME TOUR AWARDS

This is a show I covered for Penny Black Magazine in Manchester’s Ritz, just off Oxford Road. The four selected bands were Palma Violets, Slaves, Fat White Family and The Wytches. Most of the sets were in the dark, Slaves sounded great and they had some blinding white backlights which made this shot my favourite of the night.

Shame there was no females at all in any of the bands - shame on you NME.

NME Awards Tour 2014 Round-Up

The annual NME Awards Tour came to the Manchester Academy last night featuring Interpol, Temples, Royal Blood and Circa Waves.

Back in 2003 Interpol performed the NME Awards Tour with their first album release and return to perform the headline slot. Kettering’s very own Temples play main support and have had an amazing year with their debut record ‘Sun Structures’ which is currently a 72 on Metacritic. Royal Blood also take to the stage off the back of their single ‘Little Monster’ and openers Circa Waves recently scored Zane Lowe’s ‘hottest record’ with ‘Stuck In My Teeth’.

The Guardian reviewed the Glasgow leg of the tour giving it a solid three stars and reported that Interpol were sounding “lean and powerful” and Temples “look great, and do wiggy revivalism with style and fluency”.

The tour hits the Liverpool O2 Academy on March 22 and continues on as follows:

Nottingham Rock City (March 23) Birmingham The Institution (March 25) Bristol O2 Academy (March 26) London O2 Academy Brixton (March 27)
