This chart shows (as best I could manage with the information I had) the connections in the LIWEU (literary-inspired webseries extended universe).
A guide to the lines: Shows connected with solid lines mention each other as real people in video canon. Shows connected with dotted lines have characters who interact through transmedia, including video descriptions. Dashed line connections are for Inseparables in All For One, since those are really their own category. And the tiniest dotted lines are for shows that are fictional in each other’s universes. There are a lot more of those, but if I added all of them, this chart would cease to make any sort of sense.
I only used arrows when the shows are clearly in a weird situation with each other (mutually fictional or just super not on the same page).
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with this. I’m not going to tag you all because I WILL forget someone, but you’re all amazing humans. If I left anything out, please let me know, and I’ll make an updated version!

End of an Era - Goodbye, beautiful people of the internet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This goes out to every single fan of Call Me Katie and Nothing Like the Sun who, over the past two years, have made my life an incredibly changed experience.  I’ve read Adam, Myra (@glittergremlins), and Discordia’s goodbye posts and I realised it’s time to stop putting it off and write my own!
By the time of writing, Nothing Like the Sun aired its final episode over two months ago, and I hadn’t been on tumblr to talk about it since the new year! So here it goes, time to say an overdue goodbye to a series, a crew, a cast, and a fandom that has helped shape the person I’ve become in the last two years.
It's sad to say goodbye to not only this webseries but an experience that has amounted to two years of amazing work from everyone involved. I can never ever speak too highly of the amazing work of @discordiaproductions. From the beautiful writing, to the careful directing, and stunning camera work, Erin (@girloutofuniform) Bokkie (@platoniccompliments) and Carla made me proud to be part of their art.
And of course if goes without saying that I am indebted to the incredible performances from the cast, both from the first series and the newcomers, you all made me so humbled to be able to act beside you. I could write forever about every single cast member (it’s taking a lot of self control not too) but I would be amiss if I didn’t mention how incredible it was to act beside Adam (@bowesy123) for two years of my life. Adam and I always seemed to work as a single unit on set when we were together, and those were some of my most favourite moments. I truly could go on and on for days, but for now I want to say how privileged I am to not only call him a fellow castmate, but a friend for life. My biggest takeaway from this series is truly the friendships I have forged with the people who shared this amazing experience!
So I’ll bring this ramble to an end...
I’m forever thankful for every single person who put this work of art together, and to those of you in the fandom that create incredible art, edits, fiction, and discussions that warmed my heart. I hope it never ends.
These last two years have been an experience like nothing else, and I'm so proud to have been able to be your Bates. Thank you, all of you!
x Steven

IF YOU NEED A WEBSERIES TO WATCH
Seriously, watch the 'Call Me Katie' and it's sequel 'Nothing Like the Sun' seriously guys, it's based off Taming of the Shrew and this series has changed me. Also George Squared are the cutest couple ever, no doubt

hi, so i haven’t been following your blog for very long so i’m sorry if you’ve already answered this, but could you recommend me some web series with onscreen gay relationships? i’ve seen a couple with onscreen lesbian relationships but not too many with onscreen gay relationships. can you help me out, please?
I’m happy to help! I’ll go ahead and list all the ones I know of that have gay couples as endgame ships and/or in an onscreen relationship during the run of the series :)
I’m going to go ahead and start with Nothing Much To Do and Lovely Little Losers (based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and Love’s Labour’s Lost) because even though representation and webseries in general have come a long way since then, they’re classics and truly excellent, and the m/m relationship does take center stage in LoLiLo.
Another classic LIW with a cute m/m couple is Call Me Katie (based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew). This is a pairing we actually get to see as a couple, which is always nice, and they have a lot of really adorable moments. They also take center stage in the sequel, Nothing Like The Sun, with ridiculous amounts of drama and a lot less success, but NLTS is still worth watching.
My next recommendation is The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy (loose Peter Pan adaptation). The first season is very heterosexual, but the second and third seasons feature an adorable and well-written gay romance that gets lots of screen time. Also the characters have the same first name, which I for one find delightful.
The Emma Agenda (gender-bent adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma) is the most recently completed webseries on this list, and if you’re looking for well-written, well-developed onscreen m/m relationships that exist before the end of the series, this is the LIW for you. It’s very cute, very realistic, and fantastic representation as well as being all those other things.
It’s currently airing, and they’re not a couple yet, but Middlemarch: The Series (based on George Eliot’s Middlemarch) has about the cutest, angstiest, most realistic gay ship ever, and I can’t recommend it enough. It just came off hiatus and will be running for a few more months, so now is a good time to start watching.
The last one that I’ve seen with an onscreen m/m relationship is The Writing Majors (Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson, and Oscar Wilde as college roommates), a series which I personally love–but that particular ship isn’t endgame, and nothing ends well. It is still worth watching, though, especially if you’re a fan of classic literature and the authors thereof.
I haven’t seen Words From Wilde (life of Oscar Wilde), but I’ve been told it’s fantastic, and I know the main pairing is m/m, so that’s definitely one to check out.
The other series in that category is The Better Strangers (based on Shakespeare’s As You Like It, sequel to A Document of Madness), which I’ve heard nothing but good things about and which I know also has a prominent m/m ship.
I also have to mention Twelfth Grade (or whatever) (Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night), which, though it doesn’t REALLY fit the bill, does have one m/m relationship (just not onscreen as such), and two more relationships that exist in the sidelines/post webseries land and more or less do. That series is also just the gold standard for representation in general, so if you haven’t already seen it and you’re looking for queer characters, you definitely need to.
Lastly, I’m just going to shamelessly plug my own webseries. It’s still in development, so it won’t exist for another year, but Ilium is going to be an adaptation of Homer’s Iliad with a VERY central m/m couple.
Thanks for the ask, anon! I hope this was helpful, and that my followers can add any shows I forgot!
And I love answering this sort of thing, so ask away!

I'm not really one for contacting "creators" but I have to say a huge huge thank you to Discordia for NLTS. The series was amazing, but it was made even more so by the way it's queer characters arcs played out. Although there was drama, it was because the leads of the story happened to be queer, not intrinsically linked to sexuality. Even when sexuality was brought in (brief interlude to scream about ace rep omg you guys! So good) it was handled respectfully and legitimised (yayay). Everything was wrapped up properly, without having to brush over any details, and it's just So So nice to have a series that doesn't amp up the drama so much that its overwhelming. We got a beautiful story about love and friendship and family, and I'm so so thankful for that.
