#NKBTBMarch 17 : Tradition . We have a few bookish traditions, but my favorite is that we (almost) always read the book before watching the movie and drinking hot cocoa. It's quite satisfying for me to watch 7 gesture angrily at the screen while yelling, "That is NOT what happened in the book!!" . With Percy Jackson though, we watched the movie first. I touched on this briefly in my blog post today, but I want to give a little more detail here. We're still mid-Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets so it'd be a while before we can start the Percy Jackson series. So, we watched the movie last week. . I remembered from reading it before that Percy Jackson has dyslexia. What I didn't remember was that he, like 7, has ADHD. Seeing the way 7's face lit up when he saw someone on screen admitting he's like him and then saving the world... That look on his face is the best thing I've ever seen. . Instead of hearing he should calm down or be still or focus or try harder or think different or *be* different or (the one I hate the most) "There's something *wrong* with you," he saw "I have ADHD. I have dyslexia. And I saved the world because of that, not in spite of it." Rick Riordan is 100% an auto-buy author for me from now on for as long as he releases anything for giving 7 and I that moment.

#marchbookstagram 15 : Orange Books . #NKBTBMarch 15 : Bookish Spiral . We're already halfway through March! Where did it go? And where did this weather come from?! It doesn't snow here but it's REALLY cold out. Like... hot cocoa and a Costco blanket cold. I'll probably spend my day attempting to finish writing chapter 2 of my WIP while I wait for my Twitter poll to finish. (Head over there and vote on what I should read next!) . The majority of my reading is done in the car. Between audiobooks and being stuck for a million hours in car pool lanes (some days I end up at 3 schools!), it's when I have the most time to get through a book. Today's model is my giant squishable platypus. My husband gave me this as a "congrats you're pregnant" present about 7 years ago. I've included a picture of a 3 year old for scale. Also I got a candid one of my platypus falling asleep while reading. #marchbookstagram 13 : Story Set In Ireland . #NKBTBMarch 13 : Luck . Ulysses has been on my TBR for just the longest. I think I've read the first chapter six or seven times but I just can't get any further. I'll definitely need LOADS of luck to help me get through it! . The weather here was absolutely gorgeous so I managed to get some gardening in. I decided the aloe forest (what 5 and 7 call "the dragon grasses") would be the perfect place for this monster book. 😂

#marchbookstagram 12 : A Book Without Romance . #NKBTBMarch 12 : Green . I'm told there is zero romance in The Maze Runner, which only makes me want to read it more. My TBR is smothering, but I'm hoping to get to it in the next couple of months. . The other green books here are ones I've either read and loved or have on my TBR. I'm not really a fan of the color green (except when it's plants, obviously), but there are some good books with green covers!
