It's unseasonably warm here in New Jersey, but I can enjoy the nice weather anyway for now. Headed to the Colgate Clock in Paulus Hook this morning. In the background you can see the Central Railroad of NJ train terminal, which took immigrants from Ellis Island to destinations around the country. The original clock dates back to 1908 when it was on top of three Colgate-Palmolive factory in Jersey City. When it was slightly cooler last weekend, I headed a little south to visit a friend I hadn't seen in almost 2.5 years. We took a short morning hike to Devil's Half-acre Boulders in Sourland Mountain Preserve before getting lunch outside at Brick Farm Tavern. The hike was slower than planned as we ran into someone familiar, but it was a worthwhile time out. @brickfarmtavern was great as always with a smoked brisket sandwich and a set of tasters from @troonbrewing to go along. This weekend was beautiful. I headed to the Columbia Trail for the first time in about 4 years with @mrceenedd for a bike ride. We rode from High Bridge to Long Valley and back (with a coffee break in between) for a total of 23 miles. The trail is wonderful and scenic with some clydesdales along the way. On the way back to High Bridge, we turned off the trail to ride through Ken Lockwood Gorge. Saturday was the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Newark's Branch Brook Park, which is home to the largest variety of cherry blossoms in the US. The trees were just blooming and will likely reach their peak next week for crowds to enjoy. Ventured out into the Nor'Easter that's rolling through the northeastern US today. It's a balmy 18°F and the wind was blowing in my face as I reached Lincoln Park. I attempted to walk through the park but couldn't see. I managed to get this picture of Mystic Lincoln though. Happy #NationalNewJerseyDay with this summer sunset view from Jersey City. Sometimes the views of this city are nice, especially when the weather is better. To the left is the Powerhouse, which was promised to be redeveloped into something for the community like an arts center or whatnot. I've heard that story for at least a decade. It was built in the early 20th century and was slated for demolition in 1999.
