Tbh I was always under the impression Metropolis is NYC and Gotham is Boston. Like iirc Arkham is based on an asylum that was in Danvers MA? The east coast city rivalry vibes feel pretty identical to me. Gotham's organized crime has big whitey bulger energy to me idk.
Gotham has always been adjacent to NYC.
Before DC decided NYC was a real place in their universe, Gotham and Metropolis were considered to be the light and dark side of the same Bay Area, taking up residence where NYC would be. Afterwards, Gotham has always been placed squarely across the Hudson River from NYC in North NJ. Until they couldn’t decide where Metropolis is.
Metropolis is a child of divorce.
The first time DC claimed it was in Delaware was the 70’s. (I don’t know why. They just did.) I think DC realized that making NYC a part of the universe meant they couldn’t make Gotham and Metropolis twin cities anymore so now, whenever they want to bring that dynamic back, they either ignore NYC altogether or move Gotham to the Delaware Bay and claim Metropolis is in Delaware.
But ever since Metropolis was a city, it’s been in NY. It’s been in NY since the 30’s. Usually, it’s placed somewhere above Manhattan, particularly near Westchester or just outside of the NY Metropolitan Area. So in my head, it’s about an hour above NYC but still west of Connecticut.
I like the concept of them being twin cities, but they have such different vibes that I can’t imagine them being right beside one another, and I think a lot of comic writers know that too. So I always place Metropolis in NY. Maybe it’s further upstate like DC sometimes claims, but Gotham and Metropolis are always within three hours of each other without fail.
But yeah, the more you know :) toodles

I never saw Biggie Baby Boy again but Mr, Santini whom the FBI indicted for over 27 counts of animal cruelty, the President of the West New York Humane Society, got to take Biggie Baby Boy from me. I bought another ferret I have had for four years now. Bitey Whitey. She is my Albino baby girl and, many of you have seen her. Well, the girl, Joann Saravia whom I was renting from in Bloomingdale NJ beat me up, stole my ferret bitey whitey and committed credit card fraud and stole up to $56,000 dollars from me we have a video of her from almost every bank in Passaic County and she drained three savings accounts. It is being investigated in the meantime my heart is breaking over missing Bitey whitey. JIlly
There is no law against swimming in any manner in the Hudson River and I was NOT in any way hurting my ferret. You can see me holding it up not even int he water. I am like an Olympic swimmer I always know that I am safer in any water including an ocean. I am staying at a battered women's shelter currently trying to get my act together.

It’s Boss Time, Once Again!
Having about given up on seeing a first leg/arena show on this Springsteen and the E St Band tour - the ticket pricing fiasco, the still too high prices for upper level seats in area shows, though I almost pulled the trigger for the Tues. Long Island show. etc. - I got a text from my older sister Maria - a complete lunatic and not only not a Springsteen fan, she doesn’t even really like music - stating that her daughter, Samantha (Sam), who works for the Devils and the Prudential (”The Rock”) arena the Newark, NJ, where tour-leg ending show this past Friday was held, was in a company raffle for Press Box (literally the rafters) seats (and Bruce inflation doesn’t end here - the seats for these raffles normally go for $25, but these were $50).
I didn’t see the text until the next day of course, but said yes, I was interested if she won. She didn’t, but the colleague who did sold her the tickets and Sam contacted me directly w/ the news, though I’d be sitting w my sister, who again, had little show interest, but was in I guess just to be at some alleged scene. She was already plotting on contacting a security guard she knows (George) through Sam to get us “better seats” (there literally weren’t any available), and I said I was happy to be going and would be there for the music, so leave me out it.
I had 2 other sisters and other friends to hang with pre-show and we ran into Vito and his wife Laurie (for you Fijis reading) and hung out with them as well, before entering into a mad crush trying to get into the arena - lousy job by the Rock on managing entry, it ended up delaying the concert some 15-20 minutes. But my press box view (you been up there, Whitey?) was at the lip of the stage and the bird’s eye view of the stage was cool, and would have been nice towards the latter party of the show where the band interaction came more into play, but more on that later.
Maria heads off to visit a friend in a suite below and the show starts...I see Nils with that portable lap steel he plays, figured a new opener, and it was indeed, a somewhat tepid but solid enough version of the rarely played Local Hero, one of several Jersey nods throughout the show. The gas was then stepped on for the normal opener, No Surrender, and really never let up on from there, aside from the 2 acoustic numbers. When the tempo of Prove It All Night is on, you can pretty much bank on a good show, and it was on the money.
The sound was as I expected a bit diffuse at that altitude, but it got better over the first few songs, as it tends to do, and I was in a nice groove when Maria returned. She said George called has a couple of times and said he could get us into the frontstage Pit area. I was highly skeptical, and she did not know what the Pit was, so I showed her, and told her, it’s like being in a club, and you have to stand the whole time, which she balked at, but she can’t resist the alleged prestige. I was a bit torn, because I expected better sound on top of the more visceral Pit view, so, after Max nailed the drum break to kick in Letter to You (I love that break), I said let’s go, and we got to the floor level quickly. We were a hallway away from the front of the pit, and could hear the show, but not see it...and George was nowhere to be found.
So Promised Land starts and sure enough, it has a perfect sounding tempo, and the song sounds really good, but where is George? This is exactly what I didn’t want, and here it is unfolding. The song ends and I guess Bruce chugged a beer or shot with a fan, and Out in the Streets starts, and finally George shows. He walks us all the way around to the other side, ominously muttering about telling no one about this or him and as I suspected, he had no wrist bands for us to be in the Pit, so now I’m doubly concerned, but we’re now on the floor and moving up to the pit. Upon arrival, he fades into security area and we get stopped dead in our tracks due to no wrist bands. Now what?
We walked back to the back of the floor and there was plenty of room. We likely would not have been able to enter again had we left, but I had no real plans to leave and told Maria she could stay or leave or do whatever. She was uncertain, and couldn’t really see much, as even I had to move around to catch the live action vs. the video, but it wasn’t bad (as noted though, the birds eye view would  have been cool for the ending section hijinx). The sound was better, but I realized I hadn’t been in an arena in how long now? So I had to adapt to that wider expanse feeling and realize I wasn’t in a club, where the sound washes over you much more directly. And it actually was pretty damn good, specifically when voices or instruments were highlighted in solos, they were very crisp-sounding and impactful.
Back to the show, in an attempt to move quickly:
- Bruce’s voice and singing were outstanding. Very little of the typical concert hoarseness, he was on top of the vox all night. The ending wordless howls of Backstreets were impeccable.
- He played the majority of lead guitar as well, but that playing hasn’t quite kept up. He flubbed the start of the mid-song solo in Prove It All Night almost like a novice, but has the ability to pause and make it seem organic - as he rips off the rest of the stinging solo perfectly. So it kind of comes and goes at times, but always ends well.
- I was wondering how they would move from the rocking Candy’s Room into the jazzy Kitty’s Back, and there it was: Candy typically ends on a piercing, high guitar note, but here they added a second note down to end it, and Bruce then arose holding one note while the rest of the band was silent. And he held that note...and held it...and held it w a wry look on his face as the fans went from puzzled to potentially annoyed by this screaming note...it was great, actually, funny, and then Bruce broke that note and played the somewhat intricate opening guitar of Kitty’s Back flawlessly. Pretty cool.
- Bruce has no grasp of his own catalog - if he wants to play a party song, why does it have to be Mary’s Place? That song served its purpose at the time, and it’s a fine song, but it’s toast now. Ever heard of maybe Sherry Darling, Bruce? That said, backing singer Curtis King got spotlighted during Mary’s Place and sang this amazing, wordless, soul/gospel bit towards the end that was jaw dropping.
- Bruce loves his band, everyone got spotlights here and there, other highlights were Nils’ otherworldly solo on Because the Night (which he parleyed into more interstellar work on the mobile pedal steel during The Rising), and Anthony Almonte is new to the band on percussion, and he and Max squared off during E Street Shuffle in a duel Max was lucky to keep up with - Almonte played some of the fastest drums I have ever heard. He kind of took that one over...
- Jake Clemons can do no wrong - he gets HUGE cheers any time he plays, it’s gotta make him feel awesome. He is also playing better and with more of his Uncle’s power, so he is earning it.
- I knew the spot before Thunder Road would be ripe for a different song, but good ole Bruce has no concept, so they played Jersey Girl. Sure, people think it’s great, but it’s really not.
- My sister ended up hanging in there with me and she was admittedly won over and enjoyed the show - won over I think by Bruce’s voice and the fact that pretty anyone knows at least part of the last 8-10 songs before the show-ending acoustic I’ll See You in My Dreams. All solid to great tunes and all extremely well played, and the crowd was nuts, singing along and that was pretty sweet from the floor perspective, having all of those voices coming down at you. Nice effort by the Jersey crowd for certain...
- Glory Days was kind of a revelation - played briskly and at its single length (meaning no endless vamping or repetition), it sounded great, fun and joyous, and seeing this group of early 20s kids going off to it (not to mention the entire floor), and knowing every single word, etc., it was both validation of the song’s actual quality, and kind of reaffirming for me, looking back on my own youth and musical passions.
- Rosalita preceded Glory Days, and had the same refreshing vibe - played well, briskly, with classic mugging and plenty of energy, w/ Nils paying the circular lead during the bridge, and band members interacting all over. Born to Run also sounded great, and while the bottom was solid all night, even Garry Tallent stepped out a bit on bass on this one, playing some an interesting note progression that added tasty flavor before the musical crash/flourish and the “1-2-3-4!” that kicks it all back in.
If the acoustic ending left some flat after all that rocking, it’s a great, uplifting song, and Bruce’s voice and presence are commanding. His blocky chord playing on acoustic has always thrown me a bit, I think tunes like this could use some finger-picking, but regardless, it’s a more intimate moment worthy of attention. I for one was grateful to be there for a great performance. The show will mutate in Europe, as it always does - I predict at least Nightshift will be dropped, though it’s a fine rendering, much better than the somewhat tinny version on record - and I get another shot in a Philly stadium in August. Catch ‘em if you can!
Setlist - 4-14-23:
Local Hero (tour debut, first performance since 2013) No Surrender Ghosts Prove It All Night Letter to You The Promised Land Out in the Street Candy's Room Kitty's Back Nightshift (Commodores cover) Mary's Place The E Street Shuffle Last Man Standing (acoustic, with Barry Danielian on trumpet) Backstreets Because the Night She's the One Wrecking Ball The Rising Badlands Encore: Jersey Girl (tour debut) Thunder Road Born to Run Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) Glory Days Dancing in the Dark Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out I'll See You in My Dreams (solo acoustic)

I am sick to death of your hollow schtick, of the inevitable line 'unfortunately there's no budget for music', as if some fixed law of the universe handed you down a sad but immutable financial verdict preventing you from budgeting to pay for music. Your company set out the budget. So you have chosen to allocate no money for music.

I’ve wanted to attend the National Baseball Hall of Fame for as long as I’ve been a baseball fan,
Tumblr media
which for me culminated in 1960, when my hometown team, the improbable Pittsburgh Pirates contended for their first National League pennant in 33 years, and went on to play in the World Series against the much-favored New York Yankees.
Tumblr media
The series was notable for a number of reasons. The Yankees, who had won 10 pennants in the past 12 years, outscored the Pirates 55–27, outhit them 91–60, outbatted them .338 to .256, hit 10 home runs to Pittsburgh’s four (three of which came in Game 7), and were twice shutout in complete games by Whitey Ford. And they lost.
The series was decided in the seventh game with a dramatic walk-off home run by Bill Mazeroski–a feat that never happened before in baseball’s history, and today, ranks eighth on Sports Illustrated list of the 100 Greatest Moments in Sports History.
Beyond that, I couldn’t imagine there being a boy playing Little League baseball who didn’t step up to the plate pretending to be “Maz” and winning it all with one swing of the bat.
Baseball was more than a national past-time to me; it was part of my life–whether it was practicing, playing the game, or collecting and trading baseball cards with friends…
Tumblr media
although I was never a serious collector who was fortunate enough to possess a part of the Holy Trinity.
The Baseball Hall of Fame is synonymous with Cooperstown. Every year, during the mid-season break, the induction ceremony celebrates the best players who have ever taken the field,
Tumblr media
to play a game that began in Hoboken, NJ on June 19, 1846 at Elysian Fields.
Tumblr media
The village of Cooperstown is a buccolic hamlet on the southern tip of Otsego Lake in upstate New York.
Tumblr media
The town, once known as the birthplace of famed author, James Fenimore Cooper,
Tumblr media
is now a town devoted to sports memorabilia on every street corner,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and catering to fans looking to own a small piece of folk history.
Tumblr media
There’s also a legendary ballpark that each year hosts hundreds of Little League games,
Tumblr media
and the Hall of Fame Classic, featuring the best of the game.
Tumblr media
Baseball is about the pioneers,
Tumblr media
the ballfields,
Tumblr media
the fans,
Tumblr media
the mascots,
  and the records…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But mostly, it’s about the players.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coopertown is a shrine for all my boyhood heroes…
and my fond memories of baseball–at the ballpark, where I felt lucky to attend an occasional game at Forbes Field with my dad; on the transistor radio, pretending to sleep, but listening in the dark with an earpiece to Bob Prince calling the game; and in newspapers, where I eagerly checked the box score the following day.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame is a hit with 250,000 fans visiting every year, and a museum worth catching if stricken with baseball fever.

Guess who started the 1967 riots in America which lead to the Civil Rights
The 1967 race riots in America started in Newark, NJ because the Jews used to force black people to sit in the back of the bus. Blacks couldn't tell the difference between Whites and Jews so they blamed Whites for beating them on the streets. That is why the Jews were thrown out of Newark and why Weequahic was taken over by blacks. The Jews had to leave.
The former mayor Koch was born and raised in Newark NJ and now the head of the NAACP is Jewish. If that is not an insult then I don't know what is. If the blacks only knew who started the race riots. They would be fuming that the head of the NAACP is their number one enemy. The Hahne's building which was a scene of much racism and blood shedding during the riots was also Jewish. Its important to know this because it just reopened.
Its nice to see that the Jews are trying to reconcile with the blacks but they should begin by telling them the truth about why they left in the first place. This blaming Whitey for what they did thing and then insulting them by running the NAACP does no justice for black people.
I too faced racism at the hand of the Jews myself which is why I know who and what they are. When I was a kid the old Jews who were chased out of uptown moved to the White part of Newark to hide among us for protection. They didn't want any of us walking by their sidewalk so they used to  chase us with their canes as they screamed "We don't want your kind walking through our sidewalks". We threw tomatoes at them, because they were racist  even with us.
One time the police saw us fighting and questioned us and we explained how they used to chase us with canes and how they used to swing at us. When the police questioned them, they said that they hated anyone who wasn't Jewish and that if any of us walked in front of them on the street that they would run us over. They even told the cops that it included them. That is why the cops liked us. Only Jews can get away with this type of behavior. Its important that the whole public in America knows this too.
