Girls Und Panzer AU ideas
Yakuza AU
Lore
Synopsis
Maho, after graduating from a two-year college in Germany with a major in history, returns to Japan to find a job as a historian or history teacher.
She reunites with family, some old friends, and begins to take control of her life.
Unfortunately, there's a glaring issue.
She, along with her sister Miho, is the daughter of Shiho Nishizumi: the current head of the powerful Nishizumi yakuza clan.
And with the help of MEXT, she wants her daughters back.
By ANY means necessary.
Changes
So, as the title implies, our heroines are part of the criminal underworld....kind of....
The girls themselves are not part of the underworld and same goes for some of their parents. This is due to most yakuza groups and/or members being shut down or retired from that life.
Some families aren't even part of the yakuza at all.
Shiho and a few members at MEXT are still quite active. Maho and Miho are an interesting case as Kikuyo, a retiring member of Shiho's clan who wanted Shiho's daughters to have a normal life, escaped with them and raised them as her own children.
MEXT is an organization funded by the government in hopes of ending the criminal underworld. Problem is....aside from a few members of the police and Interpol, the organization secretly has a few yakuza members too.
Some characters do retain their canonical reputation and careers, like Yoshiko and Ami for example. Though as tankery doesn't exist, our heroines (who are graduating or already in college) have jobs that are more in line with their personalities and enjoyments.
Ending
MEXT is eventually shut down. The Nishizumi clan is disbanded and broken up. Maho and Miho use the fortune of the clan to help bring the criminal underworld to light.
Maho eventually gets her dream job and our heroines live peacefully, finally free of the shadow of the criminal underworld.

Future/Post-canon AU
Lore
Synopsis
Set a few years after GUP Der Finale, our heroines have moved on with their lives, most of them in college or working. Unfortunately, it has come at a heavy cost.
Tankery has been banned in most countries, after several major accidents that resulted in either significant injury or loss of life.
Maho and Miho were at one of these accidents and both have struggled to move on from it. They aren't sure if it can be considered an accident.
Unfortunately, despite some pointing out that the banning of tankery is indeed a welcomed change, others are desperate to witness chaos once more.
And if nothing's done about it, it'll cause the past of our heroines to haunt and prey on them.
Changes
As this is a post-canon AU, the major difference is that the girls are all in their early 20s. Tankery is banned in most countries. Kikuyo has been dead for a couple of years, due to an accident regarding tankery.
Maho and Miho have cut off all communication with their mother, not only due to the loss of Kikuyo, but also due to how Shiho reacted to it.
Maho and Miho are proficient in german jujitsu, CQC, and other self-defense techniques, all taught by Kikuyo at an early age in order to help prepare them should the time came where she wouldn't be able to protect them.
Out of the two sisters, Maho has handled Kikuyo's death the worst.
Ending
Eventually, Maho and Miho come to terms with the past and slowly move on from it, overcoming Shiho and MEXT as well with the help of the other schools.
MEXT is eventually shut down and Shiho is arrested. Tankery remains banned, but the heroines are content with protecting their home from descending into chaos.
Many of the heroines are significantly injured, but are able to make full recoveries. Maho and Miho eventually decide to take up the mantle of Nishizumi head and use it to help make Kuromorimine, Oorai, and the other schools safer environments.
Characters
Major
Maho (main protagonist 1)
Miho (main protagonist 2)
Mika (secondary protagonist)
Yukari (main supporting role 1)
Koume (main supporting role 2)
Erika (main supporting role 3)
Yoshiko (secondary supporting role 1)
Ami (secondary supporting role 2)
Kikuyo (postmortem) (secondary supporting role 3)
MEXT (minor antagonist)
Shiho (major antagonist)
Minor
The overall tankery commanders seen up to the end of GUP Der Finale.
Canon-divergent AU
Not really sure if this should be counted as an AU, but the idea is that Miho would be trying to keep an eye on Maho's mental and physical health, due to their mother's verbal and emotional manipulation and abuse.
Eventually, this leads to the two sisters discussing about it and telling Kikuyo. The Nishizumi family servant, furious by this revelation, ultimately leaves the family and takes the sisters with her, wanting to heal what Shiho had harmed.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Girls und Panzer Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Nishizumi Maho, Nishizumi Shiho, Kodama Shichiro, Shimada Chiyo, Original Male Character(s) Additional Tags: highschool, Consequences, Politics, Maho being a good sister, Coda, Pre-Girls Und Panzer, Prologue Summary:
The 62nd National High School Sensha-Dō Tournament had come to an end. Kuromoramine had lost, Miho was expelled and Maho's mother raged. What Maho was sure of was that Shiho Nishizumi never thought out the consequences of her decisions. That was until the President of the United League of Sensha-do arrived with a message from the body that governed all schools.
Though Nishizumi Maho had been in the large boardroom a few times in her life, this was a meeting that she wished she was not at. The massive school of Kuromorimine Girls' Academy took up a quarter of the school carrier Graf Zeppelin that spent most of its either docked in Southern Japan at Kumamoto or practicing in Shimbara Bay. Sometimes they were even in the Pacific Ocean itself.
There were no other school as ancient as her own and Maho was proud of that, the only rival in prestige was St. Gloriana Girls' College who may have not won as many battles but had more graduates that went on to top quality universities and won awards in the premier professional Sensha-do competitions that Maho could only dream of.
It was that dream that the young, dark-haired woman felt was under threat as she sat at the long oak table. Her dark gray uniform with black trim and the silver pin of school crest was perfectly placed and she sat there with her hands in her lap, back straight, like the perfect lady her mother trained her to be.
Her mother. Nishizumi Shiho sat at the end of the desk, the awards that she had earned for this school decorating the glass case behind her, a wreath of glory that very few could reach. She wore her black business suit and kept her hair straight and undecorated. She sat with the same pose as Maho with hands in her lap. The only difference was the expression on her face. It was cold, her eyes icy as she glared at the newcomers across the table.
Maho only moved her eyes, so not to draw attention to herself. She dared not move, even with the warm sun on her back and the trickle of sweat that ran down her spine. Halfway down the table were two people she did not recognize immediately but knew were important.
Kodama Shichiro, the director of the Japanese Sensha-do Federation sat across from Shimada Chiyo, the Chairperson of the Pro League Committee, and were opposites in look and personality. Where Chiyo was wearing light color dress and still had a smile on her face, Shichiro was trying not to frown and was using the fan with the Federation’s logo on it to keep cool.
Though Maho only heard his name as Tsuji Renta and had never met him before, she knew the name of the Federation’s Director of Legal and head of MEXT School Carriers Department. All of them the young tank commander had seen in the halls of her beloved school.
It was the three at the end she did not know and their presence had kicked in the anger of her mother but also a fear Maho had not expected. No one could see that Shiho Nishizumi was rattled at the presence of the newcomers but as her daughter, the young woman saw it.

Byronic Hero Bracket Round Of 128 Batch C #8
Thorin from The Hobbit vs. Maho Nishizumi from Girls und Panzer
Tumblr media
Reasons under the cut (spoilers for both)
(All sources from TV Tropes)
Thorin:
In The Hobbit films, Thorin's Adaptation Personality Change turns him into this. He's an exiled king who's intensely driven by the desire to reclaim his people's homeland of Erebor from the dragon Smaug despite nearly everyone around him viewing his quest as a fool's errand, has suffered through watching his brother and many other brethren die, and is a charismatic and inspiring leader to his company but also a hard-headed dwarf whose pride makes things more difficult than they needed to be at several points. He succeeds in reclaiming Erebor, but tragically succumbs to the dragon sickness of his family line in doing so and dies after finally defeating his hated nemesis Azog.
Previously Beaten: Doctor Doom
Maho Nishizumi:
Maho Nishizumi of Girls und Panzer is an Aloof Big Sister to Miho who is willing to do whatever it takes to live up to the expectations associated with being the heir to the Nishizumi family so that Miho can live and practice tankery the way she wants, and to that end shot an enemy flag tank when it tried to rescue some of her teammates, which she seems to feel some measure of guilt over. She even has a pose similar to the page image in Episode 10, when she looks on her school's tanks.

Now that I have the German dub of GuP on my puter I can edit the codeswitching into this scene that I'd imagined would be there
Transcript and a bit about why below the cut
Video Transcript (with German lines repeated in English):
The Anglerfish team sitting at a table in a café. Erika and Maho, both in uniform, approach the table.
ERIKA: "Vizekommandantin?" ("Vice-Commander?")
Miho looks up in surprise.
ERIKA: "Ach, die ehemalige, meine ich." ("Ah, the former, I mean.")
MIHO: "Maho!"
OTHERS: "Huh?"
MAHO: "Ich hätte ja nicht gedacht, dass du immer noch Panzerfährst." ("I certainly didn't think you'd still compete in Tankery.")
In this first part, Erika and Maho are speaking German because they're pretty much ignoring the others and they want to talk directly to Miho. Miho also responds in German (although it really only counts for accent, since she only says her sister's name), and this is partly out of surprise and partly to match what she's hearing.
Yukari stands up.
YUKARI: "If I may say something, I don't think Miho's decision was incorrect in that match you had."
ERIKA: "I think someone needs to mind her own business."
MAHO: "Gehen wir." ("Let's go.")
ERIKA: "Ja, Oberkommandantin." ("Yes, Commander-in-Chief.")
Maho and Erika are done with the conversation, so they switch back to German as much because they're talking amongst themselves as to signal that they're not interested in talking to Anglerfish.
As they walk away, Erika turns back. She's decided to hector the whole group now, so she switches to English again.
ERIKA: "You're facing Saunders High in the first match. Be sure you don't fight so poorly that you end up damaging the name of Nishizumi Style."
SAORI: "Hey! What's your problem?!"
HANA: "I do believe that was quite rude ma'am!"
Erika stops walking.
ERIKA: "I find you participating in Tankery rude."
She turns around to face Anglerfish team.
ERIKA (cont'd): "You're just some no-name school."
End transcription.

Thinking about Vaste’s voice having the deepness of Sadu in Japanese but the inflection of Maho Nishizumi, Rie Tanaka did such an excellent job with both roles she nails what she goes in for so often (also yes Maho’s voice starts off softer and lighter but as GuP progressed Tanaka solidified how she wanted her to sound so that flat, blunt, distanced inflection is what I learn towards, you really hear this by the end of the TV show into Der Film, yet it keeps this while becoming softer say if she’s speaking to her sister- ideal Vaste inflection)
For fun here’s Maho in the German dub just because I like the “Self assured veteran” tone they gave her too, and Erika stays uptight lmao
*This has nothing to do with the post but Lanzhu speaking Chinese bc I like her so much and I’m glad I’m seeing more multilingual characters lately 😭
