The Answer Is No - Lavashipping (Kai x Cole) One-Shot (#NinjagoPrideWeek2018 - Day One - Kai)

PRIDE WEEK HAS OFFICIALLY BEGAN!! I’m so glad to see that some of you guys are taking part in the challenge ;w; Anyway, I decided to write some lavashipping for Kai’s part, since I didn’t write any for Valentine’s Week. Blame @nightlybirdie :3 No but srsly these two are adorable together

"She was totally into me!" Kai said as he made his bed. "She just needed time."

Sundays were cleaning day, and this one was no exception. Cole was used to Kai telling him about his failures in dating, usually from the previous night, every time they cleaned a room together.

Cole had to admit, he prefered doing the dishes with Jay instead of listening to Kai's nonesense - after all, Jay was his best friend - but he had no choice. Sometimes he wondered how Nya was able to hear all that every single day.

"Oh really?" Cole raised an eyebrow, but he wasn't really surprised.

"Yeah! I'm telling you, it's humanly impossible to resist me." Kai winked.

Cole shook his head. "Maybe she wasn't a human then, Kai."

"Oh shut up!" Kai threw a pillow at him. "She'd totally want to date me… Would she want to date me?"

The fire ninja expressed his doubts, picking up the pillow he threw and putting it into place. It was as if the question had taken his confidence and enthusiasm away, and Cole's giggles weren't helping.

"Would you date me?"

Cole stopped laughing the moment the words reached his ears. Now that was something he wouldn't have heard if he had been doing the dishes with Jay instead.

"Cole, would you date me?" Kai repeated the question, this time looking into his friend's eyes.

Cole didn't know why, but the question brought butterflies inside his stomach. "Sure?" He simply shrugged.

"Let's go on a date then." Kai said.

Cole took a moment to look at Kai, trying to understand whether he was being serious, but there wasn't a single hint of mischief in his face.

"Oh no," Cole rolled his eyes, turning his head the other way. He bit his lip, trying to hold back a grin, but it was obvious by the sound of his voice. "Nope. No way, no. I'm not doing this. I'm sorry, but the answer is no."

"Oh come on!" Kai whined. "It'll be fun! Just me, you, cake…"

Cole stayed silent, piqued by Kai's offer. Getting cake with Kai sounded really fun, and the butterflies in his stomach seemed intrigued too.

"You know you want tooooo~" Kai teased, wrapping an arm around Cole's shoulder and leaning against him.

"Still a no!" Cole said, trying to ignore his friend.

Kai frowned, pulling away. "We can just try it though. If it's terrible, we don't ever have to talk about it again. I'm willing to pretend it never happened if it means making you happy."

"Who said I'm happy about this?" Cole crossed his arm.

"You're smiling." Kai pointed out.

Cole took a deep breath. It was just going to be one time. Nothing more, nothing less. "Okay, fine!"

"Yes!" Kai cheered.

"On one condition." Cole interrupted his celebrating, sitting down on the bed behind him.

"I'm listening."

"You'll let me tell Jay." Cole said.

Cole was still unsure whether Kai was joking or not, but there was no way he was going on a date with his crush and wouldn't tell his best friend.

"Yes, anything - Wait, no, he'll tell Nya!" Kai complained.

"Firstly, it was your idea." Cole said. "And secondly, you already agreed."

Kai groaned. "Alright, deal. I'll let you tell Jay."

"Well, Kai," Cole patted the fire ninja's back. "You've got yourself a date."

Melting the Ice - Glaciershipping (Zane x Cole) One-Shot (#NinjagoPrideWeek2018 - Day Four - Zane)

Yet another one-shot that contains Cole! :D Anyway, here’s some god ol’ glacier because I love this ship so much!

Summary: Zane knows Cole enjoys going to the theater, so when a new play comes into town, he has to gather up the courage to ask him to go with him.

Cole loved going to the theater. Zane knew that. The times he begged Jay to go with him were countless, and he was always disappointed when Jay suggested going to the movies instead.

A new musical had just been announced, and Zane was certain Cole would want to see it. This is why he decided to ask him if he would like to go with him.

Zane sighed, starting to make breakfast. He was the first one up, as usual, so it was quiet, just him and his thoughts. He set the ingredients on the table and turned the stove on.

"Morning."

The android flinched at the sudden sound. He turned around, only to see Cole entering the kitchen and rubbing his eye.

"Good morning, Cole." Zane said, turning back to the stove, and setting some bacon inside the pan.

Cole raised an eyebrow, looking over Zane's shoulder. "Whatcha making?"

"Bacon and eggs." Zane simply said, but something didn't stick right with him. Was it bacon and eggs or eggs and bacon? Did he say it the wrong way? Did he sound dumb enough for Cole to-

"Sweet!" the master of earth cheered. "Gosh, I love it when you make breakfast."

Zane felt his systems overheating, becoming hotter than the stove itself. "Thank you, Cole." he said, still not turning around to face him. "I actually wanted to tell you something."

"You did?" Cole asked, sitting on the table. "What's up?"

Zane took a peek at Cole with the corner of his eye, and regretted it instantly. His teammate was smiling widely, looking at Zane with those big green eyes that expressed nothing but kindess.

Zane felt the need to run away, even if that meant taking the risk of Cole continuing his cooking. He loved the way Cole spoke, the way he moved, the way he laughed… It made Zane's power source beat fast.

Was he even allowed to feel that human?

"Zane? Did you run out of batteries or something?" Cole asked, snapping his fingers to catch his attention.

"No!" Zane replied quickly, turning around, and leaning against the counter. "I do not have batteries."

"Okay?" Cole tilted his head in confusion. "What did you want to tell me?"

"Right." Zane took a deep breath.

'He's your friend, Zane, you can do it.' he told himself.

'But he is more than a friend to you.' another part of his program reminded him.

"There is a new show coming to Ninjago City, and I've noticed how much you love musicals, so I was wondering if you would like to go with me. As a… Date." Zane managed to say. "If… That's okay with you, of course."

"Oh!" Cole jumped, looking down. Zane could see a faint shade of red appear on his cheeks. "I'd… I'd love that."

Zane sighed in relief and smiled at Cole, who grinned in return. He got up and approached Zane, pulling him into a hug.

The master of ice would have never guessed he could feel such warmth. He returned the hug, closing his eyes.

"Eh… Zane?" Cole said.

"Hm?"

"Is there supposed to be so much smoke coming out of bacon?"

Zane gasped, pulling himself away from Cole and turning the stove off. The bacon had almost turned black, and there was no way it was edible. "Those were the last strips of bacon we had."

"Well…" Cole looked at the kitchen's counter. "There's still eggs for pancakes, and Kai bought some whip cream yesterday."

Zane sighed, nodding. "Pancakes sound good."

"Need any help?" Cole asked, popping the p.

"I'd appreciate that." Zane looked back at Cole, smiling.

It didn't even occur to him who he had let into his kitchen.

Lead Us On To Love (#NinjagoPrideWeek2018 - Day Two - Cole)

Fun fact! So far, five out of the seven one-shots I’ve prepared for pride week include Cole! So we’re going to see him a lot XD

Summary: Coming out isn't easy, especially when your dad has high expectations of you. But for Jay, Cole is willing to tell his father.

Ever since Cole admitted to his dad he was a ninja, visiting had been a pleasure. Most of the times, Cole would bring his friends along too. Jay was especially fond of Lou's tea, and all of them enjoyed hearing his stories.

However, this visit would have to be between father and son.

It had been a couple of months since Cole and Jay started dating, and after talking about it, they decided it was time to go public about it, and that included telling their parents.

Telling Ed and Edna wasn't a problem. Jay's parents knew Jay was bisexual, so his sexuality was out of the way, and they were quite happy to hear about him and Cole.

As for Cole's dad, he had no idea Cole liked guys. Only guys, to be exact. But, if the couple wanted to stop hiding behind closed doors, Cole would have to come out to his dad first.

What worried Cole the most was that he had no idea what his dad's reaction would be. Lou had never expressed his views on the subject of homosexuality, so Cole didn't have the slightest idea of what he'd say.

The master of earth took a deep breath before pushing his finger on the doorbell. He rolled his eyes at the sound, as always. Sometimes Cole wished he simply knock on the door instead, but his dad wasn't your average man.

The wooden door swinged open, revealing none other than Lou himself.

"Cole, what a pleasant surprise!" he said and pulled his son into a hug.

"Dad…" Cole mumbled. "I told you I was coming."

"Well, I didn't think you'd actually show up!" Lou chuckled and stepped to the side, allowing Cole to enter the house. "Especially not by yourself. Where are your friends anyway?"

Cole took a quick glance of his surroundings, and made his way to the living room, sitting on the couch. The house smelled like honey and lemon tea, as always, and the radio was on to some jazz and swing channel.

"Are you okay, son?" Lou asked, noticing how distant Cole was acting. His father sat down next to him, a worried look on his face.

"Dad." Cole sighed. "I actually came here to tell you something. Something important."

"What is it, Cole?" Lou asked.

"Well…" Cole took a deep breath. "I am dating someone."

Lou's job dropped. "You… Are dating someone? That's wonderful news, Cole!"

"Yes, but-" Cole interrupted him. "It's not what you think."

There was no going back now.

"Dad… I am dating Jay. Jay Walker, my teammate."

Silence.

It was as if the radio had stopped working too, and the tension between father and son had grown. Cole was preparing himself to be yelled at, kicked out of the house, anything.

"Well, you were right, son." Lou said in a dead serious manner and sighed. "It's not what I was expecting."

Cole felt his heart stop beating, and his hands trembling. "I'm sorry if I disappointed you, dad. I would have told you I was into guys but-"

"I owe Kai ten godamn bucks!" Lou hit his walking stick against the ground.

"Wh… What?" Cole tilted his head in confusion. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"I always thought you were into Zane. I guess I was wrong." Lou crossed his arms. "There goes another lost bet."

"What do you mean 'another'? Have you been making bets with Kai? And losing?" Cole shook his head. "And you knew I was gay?"

Lou blinked once before bursting out laughing. "I raised you, for god's sake! Of course I did! It was about time you came clean about it."

"You… Aren't mad?"

"Why would I be? It's not like you just admitted running out of Marty's School!" Lou joked, in hope Cole would get rid of that expression. He still looked as if he had seen a ghost. "Come here and give your old man a hug!"

Before Cole was able to move, Lou got up and wrapped his arms around his son. Cole returned the hug, but that didn't make him any less confused.

"Why don't you bring Jay over for a cup of tea sometime?" Lou suggested. "We can talk about the union of our families-"

"You sound a lot like his mom right now."

"Son, that's an excellent idea!" Lou let go of him. "Jay could bring his parents here too!"

Cole's eyes went wide open, finally breaking out of his confused look. He didn't look any less shocked though. "Jay's parents?!"

The last thing Cole wanted was for his dad to tell Ed and Edna all about Cole's childhood, and then have the old couple talk about him in front of his friends. Nya once mentioned that Kai used to chase after bunnies when he was little, and Edna always brought it up whenever they visited.

"You seem stressed, Cole. You should write a song about how you feel!" Lou got up and started walking towards his practice room.

"Dad!" Cole gasped. "I'm not a singer!"

Lou took a quick glance at Cole as he continued walking. "Shine little glow-worm, glimmer, glimmer~"

"Hey!" Cole stood up. "You know how much I hate this song!"

"Hey there glow-worm, don't get dimmer!" Lou ignored him, singing the rest of the song.

"That's it, you're done for!" Cole caught up to his dad.

"Light the path below, above," Lou chuckled and walked as fast as his feet allowed him, to reach the room next door. "And lead us on to love!"

It was going to be a long evening.

Questioning - Ninjago Lloyd One-Shot (#NinjagoPrideWeek - Day Five - Lloyd)

I think this has to be my favourite thing I wrote for Pride Week! I was planning on writing some Lloyd stuff for a long time, and I actually really really really like writing him, since I can relate a lot to his character!

Here’s some family bonding time with Kai, where lil’ Lloyd questions his sexuality!)

Summary: All the ninja are excited to finally visit Lloyd’s school, but Lloyd doesn’t seem very excited to go back to Darkley’s. Kai is there to talk him out of it, but it seems Lloyd is more confused about himself rather than his old school.

When the ninja first received the invitation for a ceremony at Darkley's School, Lloyd was excited. However, his excitement dropped rather quickly, as he recalled his time there.

Lloyd knew things were going to be different. Apperantly, the school's policy and education goals had changed, and the school had even been renamed to Darkley's Boarding School for Great Children.

It still didn't make the halls of the school any less haunting. Lloyd had to admit, he was curious about the changes, but also scared. People don't suddenly have a change of heart because of a name change, and Lloyd knew who he was dealing with.

He sighed, pausing the video game he was playing.

"Are you okay bud?" Kai asked, turning off his phone, and moving closer to Lloyd on the couch. "You look kinda stressed."

"I do!?" Lloyd jumped. "I-I mean! Why would I be stressed? I'm okay!" the kid smiled as widely as he could. "See?"

"Oh yeah, definitely stressed." Kai concluded, but it didn't need much thought to figure it out. "What's wrong, little bro?"

Little bro.

Kai had been using that nickname for weeks but Lloyd never got tired of it, unlike other nicknames the team had come up with for him. He liked that one, and he liked Kai.

"I'm just not so sure I'm ready to go back." Lloyd admitted. "Everyone will be different."

"But you hated it there. Isn't that a good thing?"

"Well, I didn't hate Brad…" Lloyd mumbled.

"Is Brad the one I'm competing against for the 'best friend' title?" Kai joked.

Lloyd shook his head, cracking a smile. "Yeah, he was my best friend, but also… Yeah. He was my best friend."

Lloyd knew that Kai wasn't going to buy any of the words he said. It was clear he was hiding something.

Kai raised an eyebrow. "Lloyd?"

"What?" Lloyd turned away, eyesiding Kai. "I'm not hiding anything."

"Lloyd, not even Jay could tell a more obvious lie."

"Ugh…!" Lloyd groaned. "How do you manage to make me tell you everything?"

"Becase I'm your best friend and not that Brad guy?" Kai winked, hoping it would light up the kid's spirits.

"Maybe." Lloyd sighed. "I, um… I'm not very proud of the rest of the story."

"Hey, you can tell me." Kai smiled at Lloyd, trying to encourage him. "I won't judge you."

"You promise?" Lloyd looked up at Kai.

"Promise."

The green ninja sighed once more. He knew Kai was telling him the truth, but he still found it difficult to express his thoughts.

"I guess I kinda liked Brad."

Kai tilted his head, signaling Lloyd to continue.

"I had a crush on him."

"That's all?" Kai asked.

"What do you mean 'that's all'?" Lloyd was confused.

Kai's expression did not change at all. "That's the great reveal? Your deepest secret? The very depths of your heart-"

"Okay, I get it, you're not surprised!" Lloyd interrupted him. "For some reason."

"Did you want me to be?" Kai asked.

"I thought you'd think I'm disgusting for liking a guy."

"Lloyd, no." Kai shook his head. "Of course I wouldn't. It's completely normal."

"It is?" Lloyd put both his legs on the couch, hugging them.

"Yeah!" Kai put a hand on the kid's shoulder. "There is nothing to be ashamed of, okay? If you like dudes instead of girls, that's your business, and nobody else's. I'm glad you told me."

Lloyd smiled slightly. "I'm glad I told you too."

"Come here." Kai opened his hands to welcome Lloyd into a hug, which the kid accepted immediately.

"And for the record," Lloyd said after pulling away. "I like girls too."

"Ay, bi buddies!" Kai cheered and held out his fist for a fist bump.

"By buddies…?" Lloyd tilted his head. "Who are we saying goodbye to?"

"No," Kai chuckled. "I meant bisexual. It's when you're into both women and men. Bi is a shortcut."

"Oh!" Lloyd nodded. "I get it!"

Lloyd bumped his fist with Kai's and giggled.

Bi buddies it was.
