Taiyuu round 3: Villains aftermath
Zeke was sitting on the sidelines cheering on the rest of 1A when the birds went silent.
Thinking back on it, Zeke thought there were an unreasonable amount of birds at Taiyuu.
BOOOOOM
The PE facility went up in flames.
BOOOOM
1A’s classroom collapsed into a pile of rubble.
BOOOOOMM
The Dorms were reduced to ash.
BOOOOOOOOOM
The Makeshift buildings that Laccadaisy had made, burst into dust. At the exact places Zeke felt the buzz of an unknown electronic device.
The rest of the day was a blur. Aurora and Buckskin escorted Zeke and the other students to safety, telling them that everything would be alright. But Zeke knew better, he knew he could have stopped this. Every explosion, every pile of rubble, every gust of ash started from a Buzz, a buzz of electricity Zeke could have stopped.
Zeke couldn’t remember how long he walked for, the only sounds being footsteps and distant explosions. The destruction of Taiyuu sparked the greatest fear Zeke had, the fear of nothing.
Rather the fear of not existing to be precise.
Oceans, Mountains, even planets, they all come and go in the mere blink of an eye. Even if we as a species manage to survive the combined threats of global warming, internal cooling, a dwindling magnetic field, asteroids, solar flares, rogue black holes. Nothing changes the fact that our sun is on a constant countdown to death. Even if we did manage to flee to distant stars they’re all equally marching towards their own annihilation. Time and events work to destroy all we have ever comprehended, the decay of all matter as we know it, the decay of all life as we know it.
One really has to wonder what is the point of anything? Why continue? Why progress? Life even at its most advanced is still doomed to nonexistence! Why? Why go on?
And Spiders, Zeke had just finished checking the dorms for them.
Replaying the last week in his head over and over, looking for somewhere to change. Somewhere and somehow he could have stopped the destruction of Taiyuu. Zeke especially focused on the past day when he came across something.
Illusions can’t conduct electricity.
“Hey Zako?” Zeke asked his much shorter friend. “What’s up Zeke?” Sako responded. “Do you really create illuzionz?”.
“Course I do.” Sako was stone faced.
“But, illuzionz don’t conduct electrizity.” Zeke was starting to doubt his feathery friend “I was wondering how long it would take.” Sako finally cracked a smile.
“You vere lying to me thiz entire time!”
“No, no, no, no, ok yes but, please, do you know anyone elses Quirks?”
“Of courze I do! I know Amekoz, Zpellmansz yourz and Yuu’z. I’m not an idiot.”
“Ok, what’s Amekos?” “Well now I’m embarrazzed to zay.”
“C’mooonnnn. I won’t judge too badly.” “Fine, Amekoz Quirk is Human Form. Sche can take on zhe form of a Human.” “Hmm, yes, of course, of course, but here’s the question, what is she actually?” “A Kangaroo.”
“Ahem.” Sako coughed into his fist. “Yeah, you’ve figured it out. Ameko is a Kangaroo with the Human Form Quirk.” Sako confirmed.
“I knew it.”
The two went on discussing their fellow students. Just some basic stuff, Yuu is a bat, Shou is related to Spellman, Ameko and Buckskin are related, Ozen is part building, Hirakus covered in mouths.
“So what do you think about the new girl? Take a guess at that.” Sako put forward.
“Ok, this one I know for schure. You zee sche looks just like zomeone back home in Germany. That girlz Quirk is either a Mizty or a Clone Quirk. Sche looks just like someone wis a clone Quirk back home but she’s all floaty and...” Zeke lost his train of thought.
“Misty?” Sako answered questionably
“Yez!”
“You’re right, she reminds me of a foggy day..”
The new familiar-looking girl tensed up and seemed to lose a bit of her cheer. She sped up her pace to distance themselves from Zeke.
“...”
“...”
Without the lighthearted banter between the two silence, like a cancer, grew. Tired of the sound of explosions and frustrated at his own inability to act, Zeke had an idea. Heroes aren’t just about fighting villains, heroes are about keeping people safe and happy. A True Hero makes everything ok even after a disaster.
Turning to no one in particular, Zeke decided to use his loud mouth for something useful.
“Hakuna. Matata.”
He got some odd looks.
“Hakuna Matata, vhat a wunderbar vhrase.”
Silence.
“Hakuna Matata, ain’t no pazzing craze! It means no worriez for the rezt of your dayz.”
Yuu started to mutter along. It wasn’t much, but it was someone.
“It’s our problem-free, philosophy. Hakuna Matata.” Koatsu, the Green Guy Zeke had previously tased, joined in and he was singing louder. Was this a challenge?
Zeke pointed far in front of him, to Wolfsboon.
“Vhy, vhen he vas a young varthog!”
A slight humming from Ameko, better than nothing. Doing his best Wolfsboon impression Zeke pulled out all the stops.
“Vhen I was a young Varthoooooog.”
Some irritated looks from people, and a great harmony on Koatsus part.
“He found hiz aroma lacked a Schertain appeal. He could clear the Zavannah after every meal.”
Whack.
“Shut up!”
Zeke felt a stinging pain in his cheek, recoiling from the hit. Zeke saw that is was a girl from 1A, best known for her attitude Kuta, Kata, Katou, Takamakalaksaka? Something like that.
“Ow.”
“Stop, he isn’t hurting anyone!” Ameko interjected.
At least Ame’s talking.
“Vould you prefer the zilence then, cuz I don’t think anyone elze here doez.”
“Keep that mouth shut unless you want another one.” Takamakalalaparatou was stanced up and ready for a fight.
“Kutou!” Ameko was angry. Was that possible? “You’re just making everything harder, hasn’t everyone been through enough?”
Ozen, the local giant, got between Zeke and Takamalakealatou and placed a hand on her shoulder.
‘Try getting through that building you jerk!’
“I’m a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned.” A new guy continued. It was Hiraku! The Mouth Man. Takakalakamaktou attempted to lunge towards Hiraku but was stopped by Ozen’s building like body.
“Oh for fucks sake.” A 1B girl said. Zeke had seen her around before, she reminded him of the circus.
“And it hurt that my friends never stood.” Koatsu joined again, emboldened by Takamakahoouzous restraint.
“DOWNWIIIND!” All three sang together.
“And oh, the schame.” Zeke followed through. “He was ashamed.” Hiraku continued.
“Thought of changing my name.” Koatsu followed.
“Oh, what’s in a name.” Hiraku perked in again.
“And I got downhearted!” It was  Zekes turn. Some frowns were disappearing.
“How did you feel?” Hiraku, playing the supporting voice.
“Every time that I-” Koatsu, adding some depth.
“Pumbaa! Not in front of zhe kids!” Zeke and Hiraku sang together.
“Hakuna Matata. What a wonderful phrase.” The three joined together
Now Zoe was starting to hum along.
“Hakuna Matata! Ain’t no passing craze.” They continued, bolstering each other along.
“It means no worries for the rest of your days. It’s our problem-free philosophy. Hakuna Matata” The Fire, Electricity and Wind kids finished.
Tumblr media
“Oh thank fuck.” Popi said relieved. None of the singers was satisfied.
The Band of Merry Men all looked to each other, took a deep breath. “I can show you the Woooorld!”
“God Dammit!” Even Popi’s mind was off the destruction of Taiyuu.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After who knows how long of walking and songs, the group finally reached the bus. Every student feeling the exhaustion, some feeling it way more than the others. Sako, Senshii-none and Tamashi seemingly the worst off. Spellman was in literal shambles, she just barely had the basic limbs. She assured everyone she would be ok.
One sleepy bus ride later and the Taiyuu Team arrived at their destination, UA high. Zeke, like his other students, was whelmed by the whole thing.
There was a general sense of alarm when Senshii-none passed out. After the routine checks on everyone, mainly Senshii-none, Taiyuu was shown “Gym Gamma” an indestructible gym meant to contain even “The Hell Class”. Had demons gone to UA?
Finally, the thing Zeke had been waiting for all year. He could finally embrace his truest self, he could finally wear that cool-ass mask he designed. And also the rest of the hero costume but whatever. The metallic mesh was cool but The Mask took the cake.
Tumblr media
“Get in your pairs, stay on your mats and don’t kill anyone.” Eraserhead announced to both classes. Zeke was paired up with Ningyo Mya, he’d never met her before so it’s going to be an interesting… oh, oh no. Ningyo Mya looked like a doll from a horror movie, she looks terrifying.
“G-Good to meet you I’m Needlepoint, what’s your name?” She seemed nervous but it was better than the dead scared everyone was back in the tunnel.
“I’m Zeke, nice to meetcha.”
“No, I, I meant your hero name.” “Oh, uh, I dunno yet.”
Seems like a nice enough girl.
“3!”
Zeke started doing a little jump on the spot.
“2!”
Zeke spread his arms wide.
“1!”
Zeke opened his electrosense, let everything flow in. All the lights, the wiring, the electrical sockets, the batteries in Hero Costumes, the fire alarm, the smoke detectors, the alarms and bells.
“Begin!”
Zeke used it all, pulling as much as he could out. Rage at the villains, anger at his family, grief at the loss of Taiyuu. Anger at himself, sick of his own inaction, frustration at his laziness, hate at his cowardice. He pulled it all out.
CRAAAAASHHHHH.
KZZZZZTTT.
Silence.
Every light inside the gym had exploded, all the electricity inside crashing outwards like a wave of bright anger. All unfairly directed at Mya. When all of a sudden, everything stopped. He couldn’t feel the buzzes of electricity anymore. The electricity had nothing to guide it and so it harmlessly fizzled out.
“Purple Girl, you lose.” Eraserhead pointed at Mya.
“And you! Next time I see your ass pull something like that again, you’re out.” Eraserhead then pointed at Zeke
‘This Eraserhead guy was scary.’

Mya Ningyo vs. Masaki Sako
@taiyuu-high-oct
Sako smiled as he faced off against his opponent. He was quite confident. On the other hand, Ningyo-chan was definitely not. She looked a bit scared, maybe put off by such an enthusiastic opponent.
For all Sako’s confidence though, there was one important bit of information he was missing.
He had absolutely no idea what her quirk was.
Haha, it’ll be fine.
Right?
He lowered his center of gravity down, ready to spring. The multicolored wings dissipated into the wind, and Ningyo’s eyes were open wide as she saw what she thought was a limb dissolving from his back.
She was steady on her feet, looking like she was prepared to hold her ground.
Aurora-sensei cleared her throat, getting ready to start the next match.
“On your mark.. Get ready.. GO!”
Sako launched himself forward tapping his left eye, quickly forming what looked like a large swiffer from the metal in his earrings. He held it out in front of him as he ran, and he thought what her quirk could possibly be.
I think it’s like a voodoo quirk. That’s what I overheard earlier, but is it her whole body? Probably just her left side if those scars mean anyth- WOAH.
The boy’s eyes flared open as he narrowly avoided getting stabbed by one of those wicked-looking hair spikes. He had quickly ducked down below it as it went past him, and he could feel the wind it made.
He swung low and to the right at her legs to try and knock her off balance with his metal Swiffer, and she nimbly jumped over it, using her assumedly light body to land with a very small amount of dust.
She kept turning to the right to keep him on her left side, noticing his hesitance to go after her left side. And the whole time, Sako was cursing up a storm under his breath, his eyes already hurting from the earlier tapping and the dust he had kicked up.
They go back and forth like that, a continuous onslaught of blows and counters, with Ningyo mostly playing it safe, while repeatedly trying to stab him. Which is mostly blocked with his blocky end of his swiffer or dodged by him ducking or hopping to the side. He counters using punches and kicks, aiming for the right side of her body as much as possible. As of the moment, she sported quite a few nasty looking bruises from landing some solid punches and kicks or attempting to throw her to the ground with the help of his Swiffer.
Watch the left, watch the left, watch the- FUCK.
Sako had been aiming towards his opponent’s right side, in an attempt to prevent getting himself hit with what he thought were the effects of her quirk. And now, he had whammed her pretty hard with his blunt-force weapon. For someone as light as she was, she was thrown to the right, but landed solidly, keeping herself in the ring.
The boy braced himself for an impact. He waited.
Nothing’s happening!!! Maybe I was wrong about her quirk??? Maybe it just makes her light or something, though she still doesn’t seem to be damaged on her left side at all even after that last hit…..
She began counterattacking, sensing his lull in movement as he was wrapped up in his thoughts. She stabbed with an even more deadly aim. She seemed to be going for pretty much anywhere she could reach, and her hair seemed to be extending even longer than before when he was originally shielding himself.
Ningyo smiled victoriously as she grabbed hold of his swiffer in her hair, not having a problem with the weight at all, despite the fact it was made out of solid metal. She began spinning it around her like a staff, except in her hair, and Sako stared up at it in terror, seeing his doom spinning in the air.
Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck- how much time is left?
Sako ducked, only to be completely blindsided by the dissipating metal. He looked up in relief, seeing the metal disappear, and sighed.
Wow, I thought it was going to last 8 minutes like the last time, but it must have come undone because I was so tired.
She looked confusedly at the end of her hair, and jumped back quickly as a burst of flame came up right in front of her.
The boy smiled through the tears in his left eye. Despite his slight blindness, he’s always thought fire was an excellent weapon, and based on his last couple of hits, her left side just regenerates, so she should be ok. If not, the fire is small enough that she’ll just get some burns, nothing to worry about.
Sako sent up flames beneath Ningyo’s feet, the only warning that she got was a slight hiss and she had to pick a direction to go. And right now, she was so concentrated on getting away, the only direction she was moving was backward.
Towards the edge of the ring.
I’m so fucking tired please just go out of the ring, please.
Sako had been going strong for the past 15 minutes and was getting real fucking tired of having to dodge like this. Meanwhile, most of Ningyo’s moves were by stabbing with her hair, and she had to dodge far less than he due to his short range.
He was slowing down, he knew it.
She stabbed him. Surprisingly, it didn’t hurt that much, not really. It felt like the prick of a pin, and suddenly he felt himself getting more and more frustrated with his situation.
Fuck this, I’m just going to push her out of the ring whether she likes it or not.
He jumps at her, forgetting about his other techniques, and like a boss, she freaking jumps over him, using her light body and her quirk to give her a little extra lift. Sako swings towards her, and blocking with her left side, he hits her with what should be nasty roundhouse kick. It should have hurt her, not him.
Sako falls to one knee, the wind knocked out of him, and his arm throbbing.
I was right. It was a voodoo quirk, she just had to fucking stab me first. ARGH.
She goes on the offense now, with Sako mildly incapacitated, she slams her left fist into the ground, adding more pain to Sako’s arm.
He winces.
Ningyo then twists her arm in such a way that makes it look like it’s going to break, and Sako bites his lip, holding back a groan of pain. She begins walking towards him, looking like she was just going to roll him out of the ring considering the amount of pain he’s in and how close to the line he was.
The boy begins to panic, the feeling getting stronger, seemingly with every step she took.
Why is this so scary, I have to be safe, It’s just a quirk, I have to be safe, It’s just a quirk.
I have to be safe.
A ring of fire shoots up around the boy, jumping higher and higher, preventing Ningyo from getting any closer to Sako.
Tumblr media
Seeing the swirling oranges and yellows jumping up and down around him, flickering, hissing, calmed the boy. He stood up and stared at his friendly fire, keeping him safe. He didn’t feel as panicked anymore, whether it was from the fire or Ningyo stalling her quirk.  And it didn’t hurt anymore either.
Ningyo was still staring at him surprised when Sako continued the fight. He created another layer of fire outside his original circle expanding it, and Sako moved towards her with his fire, looking for all hell like Freezerburn, his left hand cupped over his eye to soothe it from the heat of the flames.
His opponent backed up, and this time, she had nowhere to run. The flames were far too high to jump over, and he had very effectively trapped her.
It looked like she was starting to panic now, and a slightly hysterical Sako grinned a little through his exhaustion. She looked a little frantic, and running out of ideas, she decided that he should get a taste of his own medicine.
Ningyo stuck her entire left side into the bright fire. No hesitation. She went up in flames, her body quickly regenerating itself.
And Sako burned. The sensitive skin around his scars, especially on his calves and arms hurt like hell. But to the boy, it didn’t matter. He was burning, and he didn’t care.
What’s one more scar? It didn’t hurt as much as the first time anyway.
He calmly reached for his eye, and created a thick layer of ice around himself, soothing the burns, and allowing him to finish off Ningyo.
Clad in his ice suit up to his neck, he slowly shuffles towards Ningyo and pushes her out of the ring.
There was a moment of shocked silence, then Aurora-sensei spoke.
“Good job Masaki! You won this round.”
Masaki smiled and went to go help Ningyo up, the pieces of ice breaking apart now that he was moving more freely in them. He reached out to grab her hand to pull her up when like a dumbass, he tripped over a piece of ice and face planted on the ground next to her. She laughed good-naturedly from her seated position on the ground, he did too from his face plant.
“You did a really good job Ningyo-san! You almost had me at the end, I was getting pretty scared,” said Sako, rubbing his irritated eyes, both of them watering to almost blindness from the dust, heat, and tapping of the last 20 minutes.
“You did good too, Masaki-san. I’ve never seen anyone have such a high pain tolerance. Much less anyone who can stand burns like that.”
“Haha, yeah! And look, now we have matching scars!” He pointed towards the burn scars that were forming on her left side, despite her not noticing them.
She smiled softly at his enthusiasm and said, “I guess we do.”
They both got up and walked towards where the rest of the students were gathered, listening to Aurora-sensei.
The class had watched this fight with just as much enthusiasm and excitement as the first fights. However, this time they had much cause for alarm, this one was much more damaging to both opponents then normal. And they both seemed fine. There were many, many moments of shocked silence. Like when Masaki walked through the flames like a boss.
She was asking the class questions on what they could have done differently to make their fighting more effective. There were various answers to this question, including that Ningyo could have been more aggressive in her fighting to activate her quirk quicker. Others said Masaki could have created more obstacles.
When Aurora-sensei was finished talking, Ozen came up to Masaki and asked him, “Masaki-san, why did you not create the fire ring in the beginning? The ice shell thing you did would have helped with any problems you might have with the fire. It would have protected you from Ningyo-san’s spikes. It all would have gone much smoother if you had done that from the beginning.”
“Oh yeah! And how are you okay?! Those looked like really bad burns, considering Ningyo-chan stuck essentially her whole left side into the fire. Do you need to go to the nurse’s office?” Yamazaki asked.
“Don’t worry about it!” said Sako, ignoring the worried looks being exchanged over his head, “I’ve been through worse.”
“….”
“…..”
Fuck this is so awkward.
“So.. yeah.”
“What do you mean you’ve been through worse?!”
Aurora-sensei was starting the next spar, and called for silence, leaving Sako to wave at them with relief, and the others to walk off to get a better view, Koatsu doing the “I’m watching you gesture.” as he did.
Sako thought as he conjured his wings, and iced his burns again, ignoring the people who stared at him and the wet spots appearing and disappearing on his clothing.
Haha, yup. That went great.

Mya Ningyo vs Sako Masaki
A/N: I'm not a writer but I hope I did your oc justice @ice-is-my-lif . Enjoy everyone 💜🖤
@taiyuu-high-oct
Mya was barely listening to the referee listing off the rules for what seemed like the 100th time today. I guess they're worried about what happened at the UA sports festival happening here. She was more focused on calming her nerves and analyzing her opponent. His name was Sako Masaki, according to the announcer. She couldn't tell what his quirk was just by looking at him. He looked so confident yet had a friendly smile plastered on his face that contrasted against her nervous demeanor.
"Now remember all you have to do is push your opponent out of bounds or make them tap out. Excessive force is not condoned in this match. If you take it too far and cause excessive harm to one another you will be disqualified. Understood?" Both competitors nodded in agreement. That last part caused Mya to snap out of her thoughts. "No excessive force". Altering his emotions won't be much help in this fight. I guess I have to be careful with my voodoo quirk. "Ready. Set. Fight!" the referee exclaimed.
As soon as the match started Sako touched his eye and that instant multicolored feathers assembled into majestic wings, along with a pillar of concrete, made from the ground he stood on, raising him into the air. He swooped down, almost grabbing Mya by the hair. Luckily she's light on her feet and quickly jumped out of the way. Sticking the landing she immediately multiple spiked braids to try and prick any part of his body. Still gliding, he dogged every one and even grabbed a few. He still had enough speed from his descent and started to drag her towards the white line. Being light has it's advantages but not in this case with Masaki trying to pull her out of bounds. Mya thought quickly and decided to sacrifice a couple braids, biting through them to free her from his grasp. That was close. The recoil flung Masaki slightly towards the boundaries but not close enough. He moved closer to the center and landed, his wings starting to dissipate.
Great, this is my chance. One at a time she sent a bunch of needles hurdling towards them. One of them has to hit him. Instead of using his quirk he opted for dodging the barrage of needles. Huff, huff I can't keep this up. Mya could feel the strings keeping her body together losing their tension. A few minutes passed of constant attacks when finally one of them hit. Finally. He looked down at his arm that back at her, almost as if he was waiting for something to happen. I don't want to hurt him too bad, maybe I could… Suddenly he touched his eye again along with his earring, creating a sword. He ran forward, cutting almost half of her braids. Crap, he's lucky that they'll grow back. She thought slightly annoyed. Masaki swings once more and instead of moving back towards the line like he wanted she stood her ground blocking the swing with her left arm, leaving a shallow cut in her burlap skin. He drops the sword and covers his wound.
Mya took the opportunity to jump behind him and kick him closer towards the boundary. He stumbled back and retaliated by creating ice gauntlets and threw a punch using his uninjured arm. She turned to the left causing that punch to land on her left cheek. A bruise began to appear right where he punched Mya, indicating that her quirk was still in effect. I need to finish this before it wears off. Who knows if I'll be able to prick him again without falling apart.
He threw one more punch this time aiming for her right, but swiftly turned once again the punch landing on the left side of her stomach. Masaki hunched over giving Mya an opening to wrap what she had left if her braids around him, and use the little strength she had to spin and send him flying past the white line. "Sako Masaki is out of bounds. Mya Ningyo wins!" Mya smiled to the crowd as they cheered, then walked over to Masaki to help him up. "Are you ok?" she asked shyly, reaching out her hand. "Yeah, thanks" he replied, flashing that friendly smile as he grabbed her hand hoisting himself up. They were both directed to the nursing station to get checked out.
Walking to the school, she asked "How's your arm?" scratching the back of her neck, feeling bad for cutting him. He laughed, "It's fine, how's yours?" She looked down, finally noticing her left arm dangling by a few threads. She laughed too. "Oh that, it's fine I'll just stitch it back in place". He looked up at her, "Sorry about the hair". "Eh I'll grow back by tomorrow. You know that was pretty gutsy, you could have ruined my quirk. How'd you know they would grow back?" She asked kind of teasingly. "Well when I saw you cut some loose I figured you wouldn't have sacrificed them unless you could get them back" "Ha oh, right" she replied back feeling a bit more awkward now.
After getting looked at by the nurses and tending to whatever injury they had, both Mya and Masaki waved goodbye. Mya having gone up to the stands to greet her friend who congratulated her on her win.

Ningyo vs Hiraku
It was now Ningyo's turn to compete in the second round. She walked into the Sundown Zone, looking around she noticed how much detail they put in to make it look like a real city. Litter, tall buildings, little shops that looked like the ones she would go to with her friends. It was quite amazing. In one of the buildings she spotted a billboard with the most adorable black cat on it though she could hardly tell what it was advertising. After a few moments of standing at her goal the loudspeaker can on and the announcer briefed the two students on their task.
"The goal of round two is to traverse your way through the city to find the orb and bring it back to your goal. This exercise is meant to practice city navigation and object retrieval. Think of your opponent as a villain trying to get their hands on a destructive piece of equipment. As usual excessive hard towards each is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification." The speaker shut off only for it to come back a second later. "Oh, and please keep damage to the city at a minimum. This place was expensive to build and our fixer uppers can only do so much. That is all." Once again the speaker was turned off.
Unlike in round one, this time Mya vaguely knew what her opponent quirk was. Apparently he can shoot powerful bursts of air from the holes covering his body. Looking back to when she saw him for the first time, the holes sort of freaked her out but how could she be one to judge when half her body was like a creepy doll. The countdown sounded, snapping Mya out her thoughts and along with a beep that let them know the match had begun. Mya made her way straight to the middle of the Sundown Zone where the orb was said to be. As she ran she kept an eye out for her opponent. I haven't seen him this entire time. Maybe he's still on his side of the zone. Her thoughts were interrupted when she caught sight of the glowing orb. She smiled and grabbed the orb, wasting no time as she ran back to her goal.
Just when she thought this challenge was actually too easy, she heard an odd hissing noise that was vaguely similar to the sound of an air hockey table. She turned to look back when in an instant Hiraku came zipping by, grabbing the orb right out of her hand. "Better luck next time" he said as he turned a corner, zooming away. Not wanting to let him get away she quickly sit out her braids to wrap around his waist. She was now being dragged behind him in a way that was almost comedic. The added weight caused him to bump into buildings, poles, and various other city objects. Having had enough, Hiraku turned and pointed the palm of his hand at point blank range in Mya's face. He shot out a gust of air just enough to detach her from his waist. As she rolled onto the ground behind him she could hear a faint "sorry" as he disappeared. "Great, another flyer" she huffed. He wasn't flying so much so as he was gliding on air. Either way it made him faster and even though she was light on her feet, there was no way Mya could catch to solely just by sprinting.
She looked around for a way to catch up when she took notice of the poles that protruded from the various buildings. Mya then got the idea to try something she used to do when she was a kid, albeit a more dangerous version of it. Luckily the buildings were not  as tall as the ones in a real city so they were within her limits. She was now atop a tall building, hesitating on jumping off. Is this competition really worth dying for ? she thought as she looked down. "Come on, you used to do this all the time back home. You've got this." Mya flashed back to the times when she would swing from branch to branch the forest by her house. She smiled and when she opened her eye, she realized she was swinging through the air. Laughing at her accomplishment, Mya grappled onto each protruding pole, gaining enough momentum to catch up with Hiraku. With one final swing she was able to make it to his goal before he could. The fact that he hasn't already gotten here made it apparent that he was slowing down, though she still wouldn't be able to outrun him.
Working hastily, Mya tied her hair between two poles and wait for Hiraku to appear again. Not long after that hissing sounds could be heard again. Her assumption was right, it did seem that he was a bit slower when he came around the corner though he gained more speed when he saw his goal. This worked out in Mya's favor, since he sped right into the few strands of her braids, essentially clotheslining himself. The impact caused him to send the orb flying out of his hands. Mya rushed to pin him down and tie up his arms and legs before heading for the orb. "I know I won't be able to outrun you if you come after me so I need you to stay here" she said as he squirmed in his restraints. She pricked him with a needle just in case and ran off to the goal, determined to finish this with a win.
A few minutes later she realized she was completely lost. "Ugh how could I get lost! That's like the main point of this challenge!" she shouted madly at herself. It's easy to navigate this place when you're following someone else but on her own she had no idea if she was even in her half of the zone. Mya felt almost defeated when something caught her eye. A bright pink billboard with the cutest black cat on it. She beamed the brightest hopeful smile, finally knowing where she was. A few turns and she could see the goal in her sights and then she heard the noise she had grown to slightly hate. The noise that meant her competitor was close by. A gust of air, stronger than what had hit her before, knocked her clean off her feet. She locked back to Hiraku, who was catching up to her. Mya had to think fast, she could tell that her quirk was still active seeing a newly formed cut appear on his elbow when she landed. Knowing that she had to handicap him somehow, she took the heavy orb in her hand and brought it down to strike her left foot. An audible sound of pain could be heard from Hiraku and he tumbled down, deactivating his quirk and holding his foot. He looked up to see Mya making her way to the goal. He made another attempt to shoot a pulse of air at her but it was too weak to do anything but blow her hair. One least attempt and nothing came out. He was out of breath and at his limit leaving Mya to it to her goal. When doing so the orb glowed purple confirming her win.
"Mya Ningyo has won the second round. All competitors head towards the nursing station to heal up any wounds you may have" the announcer stated. Mya jumped up and down happy that she made it through another round. She turned to look back at Hiraku struggling to get up and she immediately felt bad. "Hey um do you need help" Of course he needs help, you broke his foot, idiot. "Nah I'm good" he smiled reassuringly. He stumbled when he tried to walk and play it cool like he wasn't hurt. "No you're not, here let me..." She supported him on her shoulder helping him walk out of the Sundown zone.

Taiyuu High Entrance Exam
Mya Ningyo: Quirk, Black Magic
@taiyuu-high-oct
A/N: this was my first time with a fic. Hope you guys enjoy and I would like to thank @diaspro-cherry letting me include her OCs Akiko and Hana into my story. Love you bestie🖤💜
Ok, just breathe, just breathe, just… breathe. Mya held her breath for a second before stopping at the entrance of the testing facility. She takes another deep breath before entering. "I can do this" she said under breath. She approached a table that said 'test location assignments' receiving a card where her location would be and the time she had to be there. The lady who gave her the card flashed her a warm smile. "Good luck", she said. Responding with a small " thank you", Mya headed towards the big group gathering near a stage, she decided that she would try and look for her friends who were also taking part in the entrance exam.
While looking around she took note of everyone's faces. Some with animal characteristics, some almost monstrous, some you wouldn't even be able to tell if they had a quirk or not. All these different types of people, all with the same goal; to become the best hero they can be. Growing up she's always gotten mixed reactions to her quirk. She's heard it all, from comments like "that's seems pretty villainous" to "wow you could take out a hundred villains with that". The negative comments never got to her, everyone gets them so why let them get under her skin? Her own doubts however were not as easy to shake off. Why am I here? Will I get to pass along side my friends? Am I just going to end up embarrassing myself? Can I actually do this? What if…? " Mya!"
Her toxic thoughts were cut off by a chipper voice in the distance. Turning around she's greeted by her two best friends, Hana and Nami. Both looked very excited, not a hint of nervous energy to be found. Hana's hair was even starting to bloom cherry blossoms flowers which only happens when she's excited. Nami looked as calm as the still water shaping her arms and legs. "Hey, we saw you spacing out, you feeling ok?" Nami said. "Not really. I'm terrified" Mya responded bluntly, having no reason to lie when her emotions were plain as day on her face. "Do you guys know what we'll be doing for the exam? "No, I only heard that it's some sort of obstacle course. They haven't revealed what that involves", Nami answered. "Yeah I figured that'd be the case. I just wish I knew what to expect." " True but that would make it too easy", Hana interjected. "They want to prepare us up and coming heros to be ready for anything", she beamed as more flowers began to bloom. Mya giggled "Yeah I guess you're right. And we'll be great heros at that." Her happiness was infectious. She always seemed to cheer everyone up.
The three friends continued to converse amongst when three taps on the microphone signaled them to quiet down. "Ok everyone, settle down". His voice boomed throughout the facility, though his massive build and cold glare was enough to shut everyone up before he even finished his sentence. "Now that everyone is settled in and has received their assignments I'd like to introduce myself. I am Katashi Fugimura, but you all might know me better as Tundra. I am the principal of Taiyuu High". The now retired winter hero was in the top 10 back in the day. His quirk gave him the power to produce snow and icy winds. Wow, I can't believe he's gonna be our principal, she thought. He's kind of intimidating. "I would also like to introduce The Shock Hero Electric Fury, we've invited her here to provide words of wisdom and encourage", he continued. As she approached the mic Mya recognized her immediately, her half blond half black hair was hard to forget. She was the same hero that motivated her to try testing into the hero course. "Hello future heros", she greeted. Electric Fury said a few heartfelt words about doing our best, saying that we all have the potential to become a great hero. It took her back to that night when they met in that alley after the attack. "As you guys know, this test will be an obstacle course. You will have 40 minutes to complete 4 stages in the course, a 20ft rock wall testing strength and endurance, a laser room testing your agility, a 25ft sprint while dodging attack drones over head testing your speed and ability to multitask, and testing your combat skills against our bots. If you run out of time you will be automatically disqualified", she explained. "Is this course dangerous,?" a frightened looking boy with strawberry blonde hair and fairy wings spoke out. "No, none of the robots or drones are meant to cause excessive harm and if anything does happen we have cameras watching your every move as well as the best healers on standby" she answered as the boy sighed in relief. The Shock Hero said her final goodbyes, wishing us good luck and with that we were off to our assigned areas. Mya didn't miss the small wink sent in her direction.
She stood there in a small grey room waiting for the door to open. Her heart pounded in anticipation. The countdown appeared on the screen. 3…I've got this...2 I'm going to pass...1 I will become a hero. She ran over to the giant rock wall looming over her. It wasn't like the ones you'd see kids play on. It was like an actual mountain. "Ok, what's the easiest way to get up this thing", she whispered to herself. Searching the top she found a piece of the rock that stuck out just enough for hey to rap her hair around it. Perfect. Carefully she stretched her hair up and wrapping it out that small ledge, pulling it to make sure it's secure, and slowly started to climb. After 7 minutes she made it to the top. "Woo made it!" She exclaimed, crouched panting heavily "but that was only the easy part".
She continued onto the laser room. The door opened revealing a room full of bright green lights. Before fully stepping into the room a robotic voice sounded from a speaker up above. "For every triggered laser, 2 points will be docked from your overall score". Well that's good to know. Thinking ahead she tied up her hair to prevent them from touching the lights. "Careful, careful, this is easy', she said encouraging herself. She smiled seeing the end growing closer. Almost there...BUZZ. "Whoa". The loud noise caused her to jolt forward, making it to the end but touching more lasers in the process. She got back up looking at the 3, now red, lights. "Great…, guess I'll have to makeup those points" and she went on to the sprint.
Another door, another long room. Looking up, she can see the drones and as soon as she set foot into the room they came swooping down. Quickly she untied her hair and ran down to the one of the room. Every step of the way bringing down drones as she went. Her voodoo quirk didn't work on non living things but she could at least bring them down, breaking them in the process. The further she went the more of the drones would rain down. She was barely keeping up, when one of the drones came down to cut her arm. "Ah crap", it was only her left high leaving her unaffected for the most but it was inconvenient. Down arm, and exhausted she decided enough was enough. She took hold of one of the drones with her hair and swinging it around, essentially using it as a flail against every one that came at her. Pieces of metal the various debris fell from above as she ducked and dodged until she lunged towards the exit. Having now made it to safety, she looked down at her partially severed arm. "A few stitches should speed up the healing" she spoke out loud, using her needle tipped yarn hair to mend the tear. "Ok last room, I've got this". She charged in fully ready to beat the final boss...until she saw it. "I don't got this".
The robot was at least 7ft tall, looming over her, bright red eyes piercing into her. Before she could react she was already on the ground. Her head hit hard on cool grind. Dazed, she tried to get up only to be kicked into a nearby wall. Come on, get up, get up! She just barely moved away from the third blow. A mirage of blows and kicks kept coming at her, only being able to avoid half of them. She was growing tired, purple bruises littered the right side of her body, tears covered her left exposing her soft stuffing. "You now have 8 minutes" the speaker warned. How am I gonna finish this, I can't properly use my quirk? Another punch was thrown at her which she swiftly dodged. "Huff, huff. Ok, think Mya". Right then an idea popped into her head. This is probably gonna cause me to fall apart, but I can't run out if time. She waited for the robot to strike once more and once it did she took this opportunity to tie up it's arm with her hair. After the other first collided with her cheek she wrapped that one as well. "Let's end this shall we". She circled the robot, once, twice, continuing as many times as it took to cause it to topple over with a loud thud. It squirmed as she walked over to finish it off, ripping the head from its body. Sparks flew from it, and when the red eyes began to fade she knew she was it was finally over. "You have now completed your entrance exam. Please head to the stage area to view your results" the speaker stated and with that Mya shuffled her tattered, bruised body towards the exit.
Heading back to the stage she was once again embraced by her friends in a tight bear hug. "Mya!" they both exclaimed. "Haha wow you look like crap" Nami joked. "Haha yeah? So do you guys" Mya responded seeing her friends also covered with various cuts and bruises. The water that made up Nami's arms and legs was heavily depleted and Hana was looking dehydrated from over using her plant quirk. "Guess what Mya, we all passed!" Hana squealed, jumping up and down. "Wait really, I passed too?" "Yeah see for yourself" Hana said pointing to the big screen overhead. Mya looked up at the dozens of names plastered on the screen. Many of them were red, but in the second column, 6 row, she saw her name in bright green letters. I did it
