New York in the 1920s. Max Perkins, a literary editor is the first to sign such subsequent literary greats as Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. When a sprawling, chaotic 1,000-page manuscript by an unknown writer falls into his hands, Perkins is convinced he has discovered a literary genius. Credits: TheMovieDb. It was more like a commitment and priority given to those undertaking than any other stuffs and that’s why it looked like a genius from others eyes. Though I won’t deny the experience always comes very handy. This film tells the story of ant editor and how he meets one of the best writers of his time. But they two together give the literature world some masterpiece works and that’s the tale the film very genuinely presented to us. This story takes place around the 1930s. An enthusiastic writer and a genius editor develop a strong bond, especially from their professional, but it goes beyond that. Earlier this year we completed 6 videos for @panicatthedisco filmed over the course of 9(.5) days. This was a massive undertaking for our crew and cast and this entire team knocked it out of the park. I will never get over the intricacy and care of every aspect. Thank you to everyone who made these happen❗️

Lycra - 'Moves You' from GLASSWORKS VFX on Vimeo.
Right from the outset, the Lycra “Moves You” commercial was an ambitious undertaking.
It was a project that explored new ground right across the board, from contemporary choreography to VFX.

Tagged by the sweet Jo, aka @bookwormforalways Thanks love!
Name/nickname: Nina
Gender: female
Star sign: leo
Height: 166 cm
Birthday: august 6
Favouite bands/artist: Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, The Lumineers, Sia, Moon Taxi, Jack Johnson... that’s some of them!
Song stuck in my head: the Total Eclipse of the Heart cover by Kiernan Shipka and others from the cast of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Last movie: On the Basis of Sex (about Ruth Bader Ginsburg)
Last show: finished Chilling Adventures of Sabrina last night 😭
When did I create this blog: 2008 i think.
How it’s going: I’m copying you here Jo! It’s been a long and slow week at work, but I too have a three-day long weekend after tomorrow.
What I post: Not much original content, aside from tag game posts, but I reblog a great deal. I reblog all sorts of things, mostly fandom things, some art, some photography posts.
Aesthetic: books, beach, turquoise water, flowers, trees
Last thing I googled: RNA vaccine
Other blogs: used to have something like a travel journal that turned into an everyday life thing.
Following: many inspiring people!
Followers: some lovely mutuals ;)
Average sleep: hm. My guess is 6 hours? I'm bad at keeping to my intended bedtime, have a hard time falling asleep and the quality of the sleep isn't always the best.
Lucky number: 22
Instruments: None that I play. Tried to learn how to play the piano in 5-6th grade but I never practiced in between lessons. Instruments I’d like to play: violin, piano, guitar, ukulele (at least I have one), drums.
What I’m wearing: pyjama pants, black shirt and a cardigan.
Dream job: bookshop owner, author, explorer, photographer.
Favourite animal noise: cats purring. The coziest sound!
Random: even if I’ve forgotten a name, I can usually remeber how many letters it contained. Going through the alphabet usually unlocks the rest.
Favourite song: I can’t pick only one! Simple Song by The Shins, Delicate by Taylor Swift and Colour Me by Juke Ross.
Last book: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It was kinda meh.
Top 3 fictional universes I’d like to live in: Harry Potter (preferably after Lord Voldemort has been vanquished).... aaaah, my mind is a void right now... in the Hayao Miyazaki universe.... and... and... something else magicky. Or in the colorful and quirky universe of Pushing Daisies, minus all the death.
Tagging/saying hello to: @together-is-my-favourite-place, @sparklyfairymira, @burninghoneyatdusk and @excuseyouclarke 👋
#tag games#about me#this was fun!#thanks for the tag!#as usual I stayed up past my bedtime#doing other things is too much fun

Beside the Edge of the World
Opening this Saturday, Nov. 9: exhibition Beside the Edge of the World began with a treasured book in The Huntington’s collections: a first edition of Thomas More’s Utopia, printed in 1516. This 500-year-old text served as a jumping-off point for the fourth year of /five, The Huntington’s contemporary arts initiative, in partnership with Los Angeles arts organization Clockshop.
Three artists and two writers were invited to consider More’s classic work as they explored The Huntington’s collections. The process of discovery started with ideas of mapping borders and edges, temporarily forgotten histories, peoples whose lives had been carefully recorded—and then forgotten—and utopian experiments in communal living. Many of these places and the people who challenged the dominant narratives of history existed on the periphery.

Artist Nina Katchadourian’s work Strange Creature was inspired by The Huntington’s collection of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century maps and books, as well as the ancient Chinese mythological text Shan Hai Jing (Guideways through Mountains and Seas). The myriad of creatures depicted in these ancient texts offered a challenge: How much have we really seen of the world, and how well do we know it? Katchadourian imagined a creature, somewhat familiar but also strange, slowly surfacing from our own Chinese Garden’s Lake of Reflected Fragrance. Her installation suggests that there is more around us than we can see or perceive—literally, and perhaps also in an otherworldly sense. See if you can catch a glimpse of her creation in the Chinese Garden.

Writer Robin Coste Lewis was inspired by a particular passage in Henry David Thoreau's canonical Walden; or, Life in the Woods. In a chapter titled “Former Inhabitants; and Winter Visitors,” Thoreau describes the community of free Blacks that had been living around Walden Pond long before Thoreau arrived. For Lewis, this passage contained a hidden call to the rediscovery of African American histories woven into the story of Concord, Massachusetts, and hence, America. In order to extend Thoreau’s experiment, she omitted much of the chapter’s text and rearranged the remaining lines to emphasize, lyrically, the free Black community that had once called the woods home.

Artist Beatriz Santiago Muñoz’s film Laurel Sabino y Jagüilla takes its title from a species native to the artist’s birthplace and home on the island of Puerto Rico, a flowering plant now endangered by logging and wood harvesting. Magnolia is an ancient genus, dating back 20 million years; its family, Magnoliaceae, has survived ice ages, mountain formation, and continental drift. Filmed in the rain forest of Puerto Rico and in the gardens of The Huntington, the work imagines the relationship of Magnolia splendens to utopia, photography, soil, vision, and time.

Writer Dana Johnson’s short story Our Endless Ongoing reimagines the life of Delilah Beasley in early twentieth-century California. Delilah Leontium Beasley (1871–1934), an American historian and columnist for the Oakland Tribune, was one of the first African American women to be published regularly in a major metropolitan newspaper. She also became the first person to document the overlooked but significant history of California’s Black pioneers, in her book The Negro Trail-Blazers of California (1919), published the same year as the founding of The Huntington.

Artist Rosten Woo created Another World Lies Beyond as a series of interrelated stories told through audio, projection, and artifact, installed in the gallery and in the gardens to invite contemplation and political reflection. The narrative through-line is the life and work of Robert V. Hine (1921–2015), a scholar of California utopian communities whose papers are housed at The Huntington. Each audio story offers a glimpse of an idea of the perfect state and the world just beyond it. Additionally, a short animated film by Woo brings together all the illustrations from John Russell Bartlett’s failed 1857 survey of the U.S.–Mexico border, included in the Report on the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey.

2017 was a year of celebrations. I celebrated with employees of Learning.com at their annual employee appreciation party and I celebrated with a little cat who was enjoying her new custom made banquette by Paul Johnson Carpentry. From celebrating another year with a little brother to celebrating 125 years of the Portland Art Museum. From a surprise wedding on Mt Tabor to a heartfelt celebration remembering the music and friendship of Elliott Smith. Private birthdays and giant bacchanals. Front row photos and backstage access. I was privileged and honored to be there for all of it, and I have you all to thank for such a wonderful year of images. I look forward to seeing for you again in 2018.
