Reactions to The Worst's Chapter 392
Brief summary: Cale's group steals the safe and escapes.
==========
All my guesses were wrong. Cale did not use Instant or Embrace. Rather than waiting for the self-destruction sequence to finish, he destroyed the place himself by summoning the Fire of Destruction and blowing up a hole from the 3rd basement floor to the building's top floor roof. 😂😂😂
Alberu: Ha, I never thought I'd do something like this in my life. Stealing? I've had all sorts of experiences. I put off all my work and come here to do this, robbing a safe? Cale: So you don't like it? Alberu: No. It's fun, I think? Cale:

Cale's influence to Alberu just keeps growing. đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł Cale's "performance" was also funny. 😂😂😂
Cale: *floats to the sky with lightning and thunder in the background* Rosalyn and ARM: *escapes through the helicopter* Press: *arrives at the scene and begins to shoot* Cale: We are- Alberu: *using magic to broadcast Cale's voice* ARM: Why is he staying there instead of running away? Cale and Rosalyn: We are Arm! ARM: Arm? Rosalyn: ARM-nim. From now on, listen carefully to what I say. ARM: Pardon? Rosalyn: From today, you are joining hands with Arm. The group that secretly approached you was Arm. ARM: Pardon? Narrator: Rosalyn carried out "Arm brainwashing" on Ahn Roh Man without Cale asking her to do so.
Cale also added some words like, "The God of Chaos will soon rule this world!", to confuse the enemy. You know, Cale, GoC is your enemy, but with all the chaos you've been causing, won't GoC ask you to be their successor at this rate? 😂😂😂
Before Cale escaped through teleportation, Cale met the current chairman of Transparent Corp., Han Seo Hyung. From what I recall, he was a mage as powerful as a wanderer.
Rosalyn was right as the incident made headlines all around the world, with the secret research labs of the Transparent Corp being revealed to the public. This scandal came to be known as the "Transparentgate".
Ending Remarks Cale was really having fun today. Next chapter would probably be telling us what the aftermath of Transparentgate would be. Hopefully, it would also reveal clues on how to wake Count Lupe.

‘change of plans,’ yohan says as soon as the elevator doors ping open to reveal his associate judge. he pivots neatly, trusting gaon to follow. ‘instead of meeting with the financial crimes team, we’re getting dinner with a former executive assistant from saram media.’
‘chief,’ replies gaon, hurrying after yohan as they exit the building. ‘there’s something i need to tell you. urgently.’
‘after dinner,’ yohan offers without breaking his stride, mind moving faster than his feet. ‘if the assistant has credible information on irregular expenditures we can -- ‘
‘i’m leaving the live court.’
years of fighting practice are all that prevent yohan from tripping over the last step in the staircase. he whirls in place to stare down his associate judge, who moves fluidly down the stairs to meet yohan, face resolute.  ‘and law, for the time being.’
yohan searches gaon’s stubborn expression for clues and finds none. his associate judge was straightforward to a painful degree, so he can’t parse out this sudden need for gaon to stand his ground.
‘where to?’ he asks and immediately blanches when gaon replies unflinchingly, ‘the social responsibility foundation. jung sunah invited me to be her executive assistant, seeing as the position was vacated by her promotion following chairman seo’s untimely passing.’
‘you mean his murder,’ yohan replies, appalled at gaon’s cavalier attitude. ‘or did you forget that along with the rest of your senses. kim gaon, what are you doing?’
the doors slide open at the top of the stairs, unseen footsteps halting then frantically shuffling away, eager to escape the scene unfolding near the back entrance of the ministry.
‘making a difference,’ gaon replies. he has the gall to find this a complete answer and doesn't elaborate.
‘isn’t that what you’re doing at the live court, in the country’s first truly democratic --’ he ignores gaon’s skeptical eyebrow -- ‘trial in half a millennia. stay here. this is where you can make a difference.’
‘once upon a time, yes, when cha kyung hee was our primary opponent but the game has changed,’ gaon replies. ‘it’s gotten far bigger than us, than the live court. the SRF chooses our cases. our evidence gets tampered with. our witnesses go mum or missing.’ gaon follows yohan’s gaze when yohan looks away irritatedly at this recollection of their failures. ‘i’ve played the game your way but it’s not working. we need a man on the inside.’
‘she’ll hurt you,’ yohan replies lowly. ‘she’ll destroy whatever idealism you have left, manipulate you into compromising on your principles, threaten you with her own hands if being in association with her doesn’t put you in danger first.’
‘that's not so different from the danger i currently face,’ gaon counters quietly.
yohan refuses to feel shame. refuses to look away or cow down. ‘being my associate judge is what makes you vulnerable. gaon, jung sunah won’t trust a thing you say or do. she’ll misguide you, use you, and discard you.’
looking into gaon’s far too knowing eyes, yohan suddenly recalls with abrupt clarity how it felt to squeeze the younger man’s neck while gaon scrabbled uselessly at yohan’s hands, face turning red as he choked before yohan slammed him against the bookshelf in the study.
gaon shrugs but he looks invigorated instead of defeated. ‘maybe so but she can’t be everywhere at once. when she looks at me, you’ll be in the shadows. and when she’s distracted by you, i’ll have your back. yohan,’ he shakes his head. ‘we don’t know what the SRF is planning, only that lives are at stake. we can’t wait for her to act first.’
‘save your heartfelt speeches for the public, gaon,’ yohan grouses, unable to maintain his composure given how fast this conversation is going off track. ‘i won’t let you go. in fact, i forbid it.’
‘you can’t stop it,’ gaon says, expression turning tender as he looks at yohan.  ‘PD-nim aired it in an announcement just now. preventing me from leaving will mean contradicting an official communication from the ministry --’
he gasps when yohan springs up the two steps separating them and grabs gaon by the collar, tightly, yanking him in. where words failed violence would suffice. ‘i’ll retract it,’ yohan breathes, eyes blazing. ‘frame it as hearsay and fire the entire production team for their careless mistake.
‘you could,’ gaon says, unresisting, ‘chain me to you, and the live court. but i would escape eventually. seeing me unhappy would affect you. you’ll slip up.’ and his hands come to rest on yohan’s trembling frame, sliding down yohan’s back in a physically soothing gesture.
‘you have some nerve,’ yohan says with a dangerous manic grin, before he hauls gaon in for a fierce and fiery kiss. it’s their first one and the furthest thing from gentle but gaon comes willingly, hot little mouth opening under yohan’s aggressive tongue as gaon practically climbs on top of him, crushing yohan's suit jacket and messing up yohan’s coiffed hair in his greedy hands.
‘one year,’ gaon tears his mouth away to pant, wetly and hotly against yohan’s lips. he presses their foreheads together. ‘one year to find out what she and the SRF are planning. after that, you can get me out of there. i promise.’
‘i want daily check ins and a GPS tracker on you at all times, do you understand?’ yohan snarls and sinks his teeth into gaon’s plump lip, splitting it down the middle and licking the blood that wells up.
‘this is crazy and dangerous,’ yohan pants.
‘yes, yes,’ gaon gasps. they’re in public and in imminent danger of being caught. it’s taking all of yohan’s discipline to leash the animal part of him that wants to claim gaon on the public steps for all to see like a lion in rut.
‘which is why it’s going to work,’ gaon says. ‘now kiss me darling, before have i go.’
‘presumptuous,’ yohan replies but his entire body short circuits at gaon’s intentions, his skin going hot and his core trembling in anticipation.
at the top of the stairs, gaon pauses and says nonchalantly, ‘tell elijah i’ll be home on mondays, wednesdays and thursdays to make dinner. and, don’t worry about maintaining my bedroom. i moved all my things into yours before i left.’
‘or prescient. trust me. i know what i’m doing,’ gaon throws over his shoulder and leaves.

So You Can Do Yours
Tumblr media
part two up now: whatever you say, president-nim wc: 2k pronouns: none used; n/a warnings: none? i guess reader is not on good terms with father but to be fair their father is a chairman of a company so he probably is objectively not great; literally fluff and mostly platonic/you're his boss so but suggestion that wookie has a crush on reader at the end... and reader is supposed to be 19; super unrealistic but just a fun little fictional concept lol summary: uselessCEO!reader has fired every new assistant they've had in the past few months, but newassistant!gunwook thinks he might be the right man for the job. ~masterlist~ ♡ ~kofi (no pressure at all)~ this is a cute one :) gunwook is baby. gunwook is son. protect him at all costs. i've been wanting to write more for gunwookie for a while, but i was super hesitant to because i got a really freakish comment about the only small drabble i wrote for him. so five months later i'm ready to try again. please remember this is just a work of fiction and its crazy fluffy. i really hope you like it! also expect more writing from me this month-- i'm taking the rest of summer off from school so. i'll need to stay busy đŸ˜€
“President-nim?” A voice calling through the intercom on your desk breaks your concentration. You huff annoyedly as you lean forward and press the microphone button.
“What is it?”
“Your new assistant is here to meet you,” Secretary Lee responds cautiously. You groan; quickly shoving what you had been working on into the hidden compartment of your desk. Not another assistant.
Every Monday for two months now, a new bright-eyed young woman had walked through the doors of your office ready to kick-start her career as a company president's trusty assistant. And sure enough, by that Friday afternoon every single one of them had run out in tears; unable to handle the pressures of the job. Was that pressure almost entirely due to the fact that you had no idea how to do your own job? Unimportant, but--
“Annyeonghaseyo, President-nim!” A male voice shakes you from your internal monologue as you look up to find that a young man in a 90 degree bow has appeared in front of you. He looks up at you, his gaze drifting to your right hand.
You follow his line of sight to find a watercolor brush still in your hand-- dripping a bit onto your desk. Lifting up your desk compartment slightly, you toss the brush in with the others. You clear your throat a bit awkwardly-- smoothing down the lapels of your suit jacket with your fingers. “Annyeonghaseyo,” you mumble.
“I’m your new assistant, Park Gunwook,” he introduces politely, standing up straight. It’s now that you suddenly realize just how young this man appears to be. His face is round with youth and his lips resemble that of a baby chick. “I hope to serve you well.”
“When? After you get out of school each day?” You joke, brow furrowed in suspicion. “How did you get this job, huh? You look like you’re late for hagwon.”
Gunwook’s brow stays raised for a moment, but a surprisingly cheeky smile eventually creeps onto his face. “Couldn’t I ask you the same, President-nim?”
You exhale an unamused laugh. Guess this one thinks he’s clever. “I graduated two and a half years early.”
“That must look impressive on a resume,” he agrees genuinely with a nod. “Your father being the Chairman of the Board also must look pretty impressive on a resume.”
Stunned by this kid’s audacity, you just stare back at him.
“Nothing to be ashamed of President-nim,” he reassures, clasping his hands together behind his back. “I happen to know someone that works here, too.”
Figures. “And which one of those geriatric, good-for-nothing money bags on the Board is your daddy?”
“None of them,” Gunwook says with a smile. “Secretary Lee is my eomma. Might seem small, but a connection’s a connection.”
Secretary Lee hired her own son? After the way she’d watched all of the sobbing girls run out of the building screaming ‘I’M NEVER WORKING EVER AGAIN’’ each week?
What terrible thing had Park Gunwook done to be handed such a fate by his own mother?
You stand up from your desk and meet Gunwook at the front of it. Walking in a tight circle around him, you examine every inch of him curiously as he stands at attention.
“Um, President-nim?” He asks without moving a muscle. “Can I ask what you’re doing?”
“Absolutely not,” you answer, bending down to look at his dress shoes. They’re more than a few years old and definitely not a designer brand, but somehow... they’re condition is nearly immaculate. Not to mention, the black, thin laces are tied in perfectly symmetrical bows. Huh. It’s pretty uncommon for a boy your age to care that much about the tidiness of his shoes.
“Weirdo,” you mutter under your breath as you stand back up. You have to crane your neck a bit to look Gunwook in the eyes; not only is he quite tall, you also realized you’re standing a bit too close to him. Stepping back slightly, you take a seat on your desk-- crossing your arms as you glare at him.
“Something not to your liking, President-nim?” He asks, eyebrows raised in question.
You don’t answer. Instead, you ask a question of your own. “What makes you think you have what it takes to be my assistant?”
“I’ve been President of my class since middle school. I’ve placed in national debate competitions. I’m organized, responsible, and competent,” he responds confidently. But a little mischievous sparkle appears in his eye as he adds, “From what I’ve heard, those are qualities the President's office might need more of.”
“YA! Do you want to die, you little--...” As you threaten him, Gunwook has already gone back to his default polite smiling. “What’s wrong with you, huh? Don’t you know I can blacklist you for life with one phone call? Tell me why I shouldn’t--.”
“President-nim!” Gunwook interrupts your thought excitedly; pointing to a stack of papers sitting on the corner of your desk. “Are those spreadsheets that need executive review? I’m experienced in Excel if you're... too busy for them.”
You frown, picking up the papers in your hand and sifting through them. They are spreadsheets that need executive review. You’ve been putting it off for a week, because, believe it or not, you didn’t get a very spreadsheet-centric education at the fine arts university you attended. To think, you could be painting in your own studio all day every day. But instead your father wanted you to do something “sensible” and “respectable” that “made you worthy of receiving his estate some day”.
Not that you cared much about an inheritance. But at this point it was the least you were owed for sacrificing your life’s passion to goof off in an office for the rest of your life. It wasn’t like you particularly enjoyed being unhelpful or unproductive, but at just shy of twenty years old with a BA in Fine Arts... you hadn’t exactly been well-prepared for such an important job.
You look back up at Gunwook. He’s practically salivating at the mouth to get his hands on your routine paperwork. You hand him the stack of spreadsheets with a sigh: “Knock yourself out.”
Gunwook’s concerningly large hand snatches the papers from yours with lightning speed; hugging them to his chest happily. “Thank you, President-nim! I won’t let you down.”
You’re almost starting to believe him.
“Right,” you agree, chewing your cheek as you walk back behind your desk. “Well, you get to work on those and have them back to me by... Uh...”
You’re struggling to think of a reasonable time frame for the spreadsheet reviews to be completed, since you’d never once been the one to finish them. Gunwook sees this and answers for you, “Tomorrow at noon, I think you were going to say, President-nim?”
“Tomorrow at noon,” you echo with a frown. You’re not sure you like how familiar this kid was becoming with you already, but at least he’d been far more eager to do your executive work for you than anyone had been thus far. You’d know by tomorrow at noon if he was truly capable or not.
“And where should I put them for you if you’re not in your office, President-nim?” He asks thoughtfully.
“Oh, um,” you stumble, looking around for a good spot. You land on the thin drawer at the center of your desk and point to it. “In here is fine.”
Gunwook quickly walks behind your desk to see the drawer, stopping at a respectful distance. He reaches towards the drawer, but when you realize his fingers are pulling the wrong handle-- the top of your desk is already lifting open before you can stop him.
“Whoah,” the boy whispers in awe as he stares at the giant watercolor landscape painting you’d been working on for the last week or so. You both stand in silence for a moment as you watch Gunwook take in every detail of your latest work. “This is incredible.”
“Thank you,” you reply softly-- folding your arms across your chest uncomfortably at the compliment. No one had seen your artwork for a while now; even mentioning it in your father’s presence sent him into a spiral.
“If you’re this talented, then why--... Why are you the president of a tech corporation?” He asks, eyes meeting yours now. He’s curious and concerned and confused. When he realizes he forgot to speak formally, he bows in apology. “I’m sorry, President-nim.”
“Sometimes a 'connection' isn’t what you wanted,” you say after a moment, sitting back down in your desk chair.
Gunwook swallows from beside you, taking a few steps back to the front of your desk. “I’ll help as best as I can, President-nim. I’ll do my work so that you can do yours.”
You blink back at him, a bit speechless. “O-... Okay.”
He bows, another 90 degree one. “Should I get started on these then, President-nim?”
“Yeah,” you agree, nodding slowly. “Yes. That would be good.”
Gunwook nods. “Thank you, President-nim,” he says, turning and walking towards the door.
“Gunwook-sshi,” you call suddenly, causing the young man to let go of the door handle in his hand and turn around. His eyes are wide as he waits patiently for you to continue. “Why did you apply for this job? Besides the fact that your mother works here.”
The boy smiles, answering simply, “I thought I would be a good fit.”
You exhale a laugh, rolling your eyes. “We’ll see.”
Gunwook’s smile turns to a grin as he nods again-- walking out the door and closing it behind him.
~
The end of the work day comes surprisingly quickly (and it may or may not have something to do with Gunwook).
Okay, it has everything to do with Gunwook.
To your very pleasant surprise, the teenage boy had been your best assistant yet by a considerable margin. All in the span of six hours, he’d color-coded your weekly schedule, ghostwritten five urgent emails to executives from partner companies, brought you your lunch order exactly how you prefer it, and reorganized your entire desk for you all while you painted next to him.
He didn’t ask you any unnecessary questions or disturb your peace; he just did his work so that you could do yours. Just like he said he would.
The end of the day came so quickly that when Gunwook knocked on your door to ask you if you were heading out for the day, you thought he was making one of his insulting-but-somehow-also-charming remarks about your lack of presidential work ethic again. But glancing at the clock, you see that he’s right-- it’s almost 7 P.M.
“I’m actually gonna keep working for a little while longer,” you respond before you catch Gunwook’s eyebrows raise. “You can go home now though. You have to be well-rested for another day of high school tomorrow.”
He sticks his tongue in his cheek and smiles at the joke. “I actually go to university now, President-nim. Part-time, but still.”
You find yourself trying to picture what Gunwook would look like on a campus: a grey hoodie, jeans, and his hair flopping into his eyes. In another life, one where you had a different father, maybe you’d still be going to university, too. Maybe you would've run into Gunwook and been his sunbae instead of the Guinness World Records holder for youngest president of a national corporation. Would you have noticed each other? Would you have been friends? Rivals? Something else?
Returning his smile, you dismiss, “Have a good night, Gunwook-sshi.”
“Have a good night, President-nim.”
You work on your painting for another hour before finally gathering your things and heading out the door for the night. On your way out, you see Secretary Lee typing away at her desk. When she spots you, she grimaces nervously.
“Oh, President-nim,” she greets as you walk over to her. “I hope you’re not too upset, but I thought that my son could--.”
“Could be the best assistant I’ve ever had?” You finish for her; watching as her face relaxes at your compliment. “You were right. And you better keep up the good work, Secretary Lee: Gunwook-sshi would make a great secretary.”
Secretary Lee swallows and nods at the hint of a threat. “Understood, President-nim.”
You smile, starting to head toward the exit before your curiosity stops you in your tracks. You turn over your shoulder to call, “Secretary-nim?”
She looks at you expectantly; if not also a bit nervously.
“Why did Gunwook-sshi want to be my assistant?”
She considers for a moment before replying, “After your... poor luck... with assistants these past few months, I couldn’t help but think my son had what it takes to change that. He’s always been such an overachiever. But he wasn’t really interested at all at first."
“Why did he change his mind?” You ask; wanting to understand a bit more about the incredibly competent, but slightly odd assistant that showed up at your office today.
Secretary Lee laughs quietly. “Well, to be honest... He only handed me his completed application after...
... I showed him a picture of you.”

Beryl leaves millions of Texans powerless as dangerous heat sweeps through the region.
Restoring power to the millions of Texans affected by the deadly and destructive storm Beryl could take days or even weeks, posing a dangerous scenario for residents without air conditioning as triple-digit heat indices sweep across the state.

Beryl made landfall in southern Texas as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday, knocking out power to over 2.5 million homes and resulting in at least eight fatalities in Texas and Louisiana.
As of Tuesday night, more than 1.7 million customers, primarily in Galveston through Houston, remain without power, according to PowerOutage.us. Thirty-four utilities are reporting outages as the storm brought torrential rains and strong winds that turned roads into rivers, downed power lines, and caused trees to fall onto homes, roads, and vehicles.
Acting Texas Governor Dan Patrick announced on Tuesday that President Biden had approved a federal emergency disaster declaration for affected parts of Texas due to Beryl's devastation.
“This FEMA assistance will expedite the recovery process and help ensure the safety of Texans impacted by Hurricane Beryl,” said Patrick.

The emergency declaration allows for 75% reimbursement for debris cleanup across all 121 impacted counties in Texas, as detailed by Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief W. Nim Kidd at a Tuesday press conference.
While what remains of Beryl moves into the Midwest with reduced intensity, it still poses a threat of further flooding and tornadoes along its path.
Meanwhile, recovery and cleanup efforts in southeast Texas, particularly in the Houston area, are challenging due to extreme heat gripping the region. The heat index in Houston surpassed 100 degrees on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to remain in the 90s through early next week. This poses hazardous conditions for outdoor workers, the elderly, individuals with chronic medical conditions, children, and those lacking adequate cooling.
Heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and stroke, become risks when the body cannot adequately cool down during prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity.
Tragically, at least two deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning related to generator use have been reported in Harris County, where Houston is located.
“If you are using a generator, ensure it is placed far away from living and sleeping areas,” warned Kidd, emphasizing that such fatalities are preventable.
Restoring electricity to heavily impacted communities will require a multi-day effort, according to Thomas Gleeson, chairman of the Public Utility Commission of Texas. In Galveston, city officials estimate it may take up to two weeks to fully restore power.
Texas utility CenterPoint Energy has faced more extensive damage than anticipated from the impact of Beryl, leaving over 1.3 million customers without service as of Tuesday night.
"The storm unexpectedly shifted course and inflicted greater damage on our customers, systems, and infrastructure than initially projected, resulting in outages affecting over 2.26 million customers at its peak," stated a utility spokesperson during a Tuesday evening briefing. This constitutes approximately 80% of CenterPoint’s customer base in the Houston region, according to company representative Paul Lock.

Earlier on Tuesday, Acting Governor Patrick emphasized the urgency for CenterPoint Energy to expedite power restoration efforts, acknowledging the challenging conditions faced by residents without electricity.
CenterPoint initially aimed to restore power to 1 million customers by Wednesday night, with full damage assessments expected to be completed by the end of Tuesday, as noted by company spokesperson Logan Anderson in an update to CNN.
During the evening briefing, Lock indicated that while a specific timeline for complete restoration was unavailable, the process would not be immediate. A comprehensive restoration plan will follow the completion of damage assessments.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire, personally affected by the power outage, assured residents that restoring electricity was a top priority for both CenterPoint and the city.
In neighboring Katy, Texas, resident Lizzette Varela expressed frustration over the uncertainty surrounding power restoration timelines, highlighting the challenges her family faces in securing basic necessities without electricity.
Meanwhile, Surfside Beach Mayor Gregg Bisso criticized CenterPoint for delays in restoring service to his community, where a majority of residents remain without power despite bearing the brunt of the storm’s impact.
As recovery efforts continue across southeast Texas, including at the Houston Zoo, where staff worked tirelessly to ensure animal safety and maintain operations during the outage, the region braces for ongoing challenges posed by Beryl’s aftermath, including potential flooding and tornado threats as the storm moves inland through the United States.
On Tuesday, the threat of tornadoes associated with Beryl escalated, leading the Storm Prediction Center to elevate the severity of severe thunderstorm risks to level 3 out of 5 for western Kentucky and southern Indiana.
Across the Ohio and Mississippi valleys, there is a level 2 out of 5 severe thunderstorm threat, primarily due to the potential for tornadoes spawned by these storms, as reported by the center. On Monday, Beryl generated fourteen tornadoes in Texas, Louisiana, and southern Arkansas.
As of Tuesday, approximately 23.4 million people are under flood watches, with flash flood warnings issued along the storm’s trajectory earlier in the day.

Heat advisories have been issued for roughly half of the U.S. population on Tuesday, encompassing both coasts, with particularly severe conditions along the West Coast.
A stifling heatwave is enveloping the West and is expected to persist for several more days, bringing temperatures that are 10 to 30 degrees above normal to certain areas.
Human-induced climate change is contributing to increasingly frequent and intense heatwaves worldwide, exposing communities to progressively hazardous temperatures.

Moon owned shares in Central City. They were sold for $925 million in 2012

This is an explanation of the 2012 sale of Central City that was put up in the Korea CARP Café.
Regarding the sale of Central City shares: We ask for our members’ understanding regarding a special situation.
According to a Yeon Hap News article from October 16, 2012, Shin Se Gye Shopping Mall acquired 60.02% of Central City’s shares from 4 separate companies in Malaysia. The price at which the shares were sold was approximately 1.025 trillion won (close to $925.7 million dollars). After quickly checking with representatives of Central City, we confirmed that the news is true.
Tumblr media
For several years Central City was at a deficit due to bad management, however, recently that situation was turned around and operations were completely normalized to the point where it was making a profit and the value of the asset increased by several times. This process did not happen on its own, but it was due to True Parents dedication and Heaven’s support, along with the hard work of the management team of Central City. Especially, from the beginning of the project Mr. Dal Soon Shin who worked as president of Central City and his staff showed great administrative and managerial skill, and although he did not interfere with the details of management, Hyun Jin Nim has also been providentially guiding the work from behind the scenes.
From the members’ perspective Central City is not a providential institution like Pyung Hwa Motors or the Peace Cup which carry on specific providential work, but it is purely part of a business foundation. Currently the business is bringing in a profit and it has the potential to grow in the future as well. Naturally, people will wonder why it was decided to sell the company. From a business perspective, people will wonder whether it was the best moment to sell the shares. We asked those questions to representatives of Central City.
The representative said that the sale did not just happen suddenly, he explained that it was a decision based on a careful strategic study. Based on the assumption that this was his personal opinion, the representative said that the current decision was made as a measure to manage risk by reducing the burdensome debt the company acquired from the beginning; and considering the potential of a worldwide economic recession and its impact on the Korean market, it was a wise choice to sell the asset at the best price possible to maximize profits. He also added that selling the asset was a desperate measure of last resort to confront the endless lawsuits from the Tongil Foundation and the Unification Church, and in order to absolutely complete the Yoido Parc1 Project which is the fruit of the jeong-seong of our True Parents.
Although it isn’t appropriate to enter into the details at this moment in time, if the Tongil Foundation had not initiated all types of lawsuits against Y22 which was undertaking the Yoido Parc1 Project, it would have been possible to avoid selling the shares of Central City.
The figures of the legal fees incurred from the ever-increasing lawsuits are an astronomical amount of money that both sides have wasted. Also, the damage from having to stop and prolong the construction for 2 years at the Yoido Parc1 construction site (due to the Tongil Foundation’s lawsuits) has brought financial loss in the millions. But it does not end at that. After losing and appealing the case, chairman Kook Jin Moon of the Tongil Foundation and their board members have taken their Parc1 lawsuit to the Supreme Court and they are of the position of continuing the lawsuits for many years to come. Furthermore, in spite of having been sentenced by court to pay 45 billion won plus overdue interest as the first phase of damages, the [Tongil Foundation is trying to buy time and] refusing to pay up even as they incur a 20% yearly interest rate on the amount promised.
Although the assets that should be invested for God’s providence are being thrown away at a fast rate, and the Parc1 construction site looks like a scar on the city of Seoul, there is no end in sight to the meaningless and futile lawsuits which are creating a sick atmosphere in the entire Unification Movement. Perhaps we will experience the end of the Unification Movement even before the decisions are made on the lawsuits and it will be too late to regret what happened.
In this situation, when having to make a choice between [selling] the Yoido Parc1 project or Central City, perhaps most people would choose to keep the safe and profitable Central City which on its own is a quite big asset instead of choosing the wounded and uncertain Yoido Parc1 project. However, this decision was the complete opposite. This was perhaps a measure taken in order to not allow the foundation of dedication that True Father invested into Parc1 to be lost and to never allow his dream of finalizing the project to go to waste. The measure can be seen as a strong will to bring True Father’s dream to fruition. And it also contains the unbending resolve to fight to the very end these unjust lawsuits that are destroying the providence.
God’s will and the providence are eternal. The dream that True Father had for Yoido was not unrelated to God’s providence. Therefore, it will be accomplished regardless of what sacrifices have to be made. We sincerely pray that the sale of Central City’s shares was done with this kind of big purpose behind it. We also pray that all the lawsuits come to an end as soon as possible, and that we can bring an end to this period of fighting and distrusting one another, so that we may once again join forces and focus on realizing the legacy that True Father left behind for us.
Lonely Planet review for Central City Mall A popular mall next to the express bus terminal that includes Shinsegae Department store, a food court, a six-cinema multiplex, endless underground shopping and Nolboo Yuhwangorijinheukgui, a great duck restaurant.

I heard a great many things about My Mister before I went into it: a masterpiece, a truthful portrait of everydayness, a vehicle towards catharsis for the parts of the self weathered by everydayness, a moving story that is strongly anti-patriarchy, an ode to parental love and a child’s love and a sibling’s love and a friend’s love and other love that comes uninvited—all true. But I was not prepared for this story to be packaged in an affair and internal corporate espionage.
Here’s the premise: Do Jun-young, the young and haughty CEO of a successful building & engineering company, is in a power war with other senior members for the attention of their ailing, but still sharp, Chairman. Caught in between is a general manager, Park Dong-hoon, a decent, generous-to-a-fault man. Dong-hoon is the darling of the other faction in the office, and the task at hand for Jun-young is firing Dong-hoon. To Jun-young, who used to be his junior at university, Dong-hoon’s rise would amount to Jun-young's fall. Jun-young has little by way of a brain, few spineless right-hand men by way of brawn, and lots of money. For Lee Ji-an, the cold 20-year-old temporary worker with fortitude that comes with abject poverty and mounting debt and being a social reject, this is jackpot. She promises Jun-young that she could get Dong-hoon fired in exchange for money. In the process, Ji-an finds out that Dong-hoon’s wife has been cheating on him with Jun-young.
Here’s the heart: Dong-hoon and Ji-an embark on a relationship where they see in each other a reflection of themselves and then some. They are empty, broken people who constantly wonder why life happens to them, with neither the strength to ask what matters nor the inclination to face the music of the answer. They protect each other, from themselves and others.
Age has caught up to both of them—Dong-hoon, literally, he’s pretty much lived the same way for four decades; Ji-an, metaphorically, because at 20, she has already lived through the trauma of being an abandoned child, the disillusionment of a teen shunned by faux meritocracy, and the role of a care-giver without money or support. She is a child who had to grow up too soon in the worst way possible—taking the life of an abusive elder, who should have taken care of her, in self-defence. She is 30,000 years old, she thinks. He is 40, and that’s old enough, he thinks.
Ji-an’s survival instincts jerks Dong-hoon to a life that feels more urgent. Dong-hoon’s rule-abiding spirit shows Ji-an how to secure a life that could afford her space to breathe. It is Ji-an who protects Dong-hoon from being fired. It is Dong-hoon who tells the clueless Ji-an how to move in the world of adults, above ground.
Every other relationship in this show has a name. Sibling, friend, neighbour, parent, spouse, office senior, officer junior. But this one, of Dong-hoon and Ji-an, with their 20-year age-gap, has none. ("Platonic" does come close but I am still wrestling with that one.) They go out for dinner, witness each other at their worst and saddest, and tell each other what the other needs to hear the most.
The choice of this age-gap inevitably gives rise to the question of another affair, and this is where writer-nim Park Hae-young has me by the collar. My Mister feeds off the casual, crude, often-infantalising narrative of why young women are attracted to older men. That stereotype is bait, for those so easily bought into too many stories of the kind, to interrogate what about relationships outside the norm in civil society—relationships that do not have a name—terrifies them. The characters in the show who accuse Dong-hoon and Ji-an of having an affair are those assigned as antagonists.
PHY believes and says “Every relationship is fascinating and precious,” so why do we say no to making more of them as we age? The norms in civil society is a good reason, but maybe a superficial one. She maintains it's the simple act of being vulnerable that leads to building and treasuring relationships; one of those things we tend to lose as we "age". The facade to maintain as a successful person is at odds with being vulnerable so we have to fragment the contours of our love and maintain boundaries. It’s why the relationship between Dong-hoon and Ji-an is—and has to be—cemented on wiretapping and surveillance and the ugliness of baring your soul, against your will even.
At their workplace, Ji-an is only privy to Dong-hoon, the structural engineer working a desk job without many promotions under his belt for a man several years his junior. It is because Ji-an snoops around that she learns of the affair that sets the story in motion. It’s how she finds out that he is a husband who goes back to an empty house often. He is the middle child, bearing the weight of providing in the absence of a financially-independent elder brother and a younger one trapped in his own insecurities and failures.
But it’s also how she learnt of the love and grace he enjoys otherwise. He plays soccer with friends he has grown up with, he drinks with his siblings whom he has loved all his life, he is the favourite son to his mother. This kind man is the beating heart of his neighbourhood. There will be at least two dozen people who will chase around the streets of Seoul seeking vengeance should he have a scratch on his body. If he is in pain, his brothers will give up other responsibilities to be with him all night until blue hour. These scenes, and the ones in Jeong-hui’s bar, are brimmed with warmth, of love freely taken and given. It’s how Ji-an begins to fantasise having people to go back to, and to call your own. Her love for Dong-hoon is also a love to the world he brings to her, a world of community that sticks together.
When I watched My Liberation Notes, I sensed that PHY does not give a hoot about green flags and healthy relationships. She might look at those tweets and posts, laugh with her whole chest and mumble: cute but no. This is so very stark in Gi-hoon (Dong-hoon’s younger sibling) and Yu-ra’s relationship, one that is marked by the intimate act of cleaning up vomit. Love comes from unfiltered, almost disgusting, honesty, picking at things the other would never think of sharing to another being. Love is a muscle you have to use everyday. You have to be talking all the time; and somebody should be listening.
The scene that is tattooed in my heart is Dong-hoon whispering “Call me,” into the phone he knows she is listening to. This is after he learns the truth of everything, of her initial plans to betray him, of her surveillance. But as he tells her later: “Once you know someone, there comes a point where you don’t really care what they do. and I know you.” He knows her and now, he knows everything. That's all that matters.
In the final act of the show, loving truly as knowing fully is reinforced on a very unlikely character: Gwang-il, Ji-an’s abusive cousin, son of the man she killed for abusing her and their grandmother—and also the loan shark Ji-an owes to. It is through those surveilled tapes that we find out that before he was the son of a father who was murdered by a cousin he loved, he was kind. Ji-an was speaking to Dong-hoon, who knows this before us, the audience. That submission, those words she could never say to Gwang-il’s face, pushes the plot which began with a discreet affair to its conclusion.
When My Mister ends, things are slightly better for the characters than when we see them but it’s left ambiguous. The last 15 minutes of the show goes like this: four minutes of Dong-hoon, in his empty apartment after his wife has left for the US to join their son, engaged in chores and a snotty breakdown; Gi-hoon and Yu-ra’s fracturing relationship leading to a break-up; Dong-hoon's new company; Ji-an in her new job and friends she has started making there; Gi-hoon picking up a pencil to write a screenplay; and a final reunion between Dong-hoon and Ji-an one year after their last goodbye. I think PHY needs her characters to be people who find peace and who love and look out for one another, even if they remain broken.
That love doesn’t need to be forever. Ji-an stops listening to Dong-hoon’s phone after he finds out that she does. When she is about to uninstall the app from her phone, she registers the way his shoes hit the asphalt on the road, that dignified stride despite the hunched shoulders, and his steady breathing one more time. The footsteps recede; she isn’t listening anymore. Then they come back; love can also be a powerful memory, a fuel to someplace else to love more and be someone else. PHY’s thesis is so devastatingly haunting because she dares to tell you, with a jerk first and then gently like a goodnight kiss, that loving is both the very least and the most you can do while you’re here.

Post-Time Travel Recovered Memories AU [Pt.6]
[Last]
Hae-In has never been so grateful for the fact that her father works overseas and her mother is used to her leaving early in the morning for track practice.
Of course, that's not where she goes. Well, she's not sure where she should go - her feet takes her to Sung Jin-Woo's guild building, but that hasn't been built yet so it's just an empty lot, and then she's halfway to his house before it occurs to her just how creepy that is, then she thinks about her own guild's building but that probably hasn't been built either or at least it's some other business in its place, and then she just ends up halfway across the city, lurking across the street from Go Industries without a clue as to whether or not she should call attention to herself at all.
Someone notices her anyway. She's thirteen years old with no adult supervision, in an area where no kids should be for at least another seven hours - there's no hiding that. But to her relief, it's not just anyone who comes to get her. The front doors of Go Industries slide open, and the familiar - if younger - figure of Woo Jin-Chul beckons her over. She's not used to seeing him out of a suit - he's only in a semi-casual white shirt and trousers - but his expression is the same impassive calm as always, and Hae-In feels the squiggle of anxiety knotted in her chest since she woke up this morning finally unravel as she hurries across the street.
"Cha hunter-nim," Woo Jin-Chul greets her, and she's never been so happy to hear her usual address. The man doesn't even blink at how short she is now, or at the sweater, jeans, and sneakers she's wearing.
"Chairman," She replies, only to pause. Is it still Chairman if Go Gun-Hee is alive and obviously remembers everything?
Woo Jin-Chul smiles slightly. "My old position will suffice. I was happy to relinquish the seat back to Chairman Go." A flicker of amusement enters his expression. "Of course, none of these positions technically exist anymore."
Hae-In huffs a laugh of her own as she follows him inside. "When did you remember? Just today? You work fast."
He's already in touch with Go Gun-Hee, and judging by how nobody stops him from taking her through the building even though there's a lot of not-very-discreet confused glances thrown their way, he even has the run of the place already. As expected of Chief Inspector Woo, she supposes. There's a reason a bunch of stories used to go around about how all the major guilds back in the day had verbally and physically thrown down over signing him before Go Gun-Hee had snatched him off the market.
"A week ago," Woo Jin-Chul informs her as they take a private elevator up. "I spent the time tracking people down, but it seems it was only today that everyone else remembered. The Chairman sent a car to pick me up a few hours ago, and Master Choi, Master Baek, and Hunter Min Byung-Gyu are making their way here as we speak. Master Lim and Master Ma live farther away so they won’t be able to come today, but the Chairman has already contacted them, and they’ve cleared their schedules for the day so that they’ll be available for a conference call once the others arrive.”
“So it’s only S-rank Hunters,” Hae-In mutters, but that’s not quite right either considering whose company she’s in. “Or also A-ranks?”
“As far as I can tell,” Woo Jin-Chul says. “It is only S-rank Hunters. I believe I am an exception because Sung Jin-Woo hunter-nim shared memories of the war between the Rulers and the Monarchs with me in our previous timeline, right before that conference he held, so that might have carried over somehow. The Chairman and I aren’t entirely sure why any of us remember at all since I don’t think we were supposed to, but in the greater scheme of things, I don’t think that matters too much.”
Hae-In nods her agreement. No, what matters is that they do remember, and what they’re going to do from here on out.
“What about S-rank Hunters from other countries? They can’t all remember, right? Someone probably would’ve leaked something, and I checked social media earlier. Nothing really stood out.”
The elevator reaches the top floor, and the doors slide open again. Woo Jin-Chul gestures her ahead even as he continues to answer. “No, I don’t think it’s all of them. But I also find it improbable that only Hunters in South Korea remember. Most likely, it is just the S-ranks who came into contact with Sung Jin-Woo hunter-nim in some specific way that have regained their memories.”
 “
Thomas Andre,” Hae-In says, eyes widening, because everyone had heard about the drama there, even if they’d missed the news reports. Only someone as insane as Andre could anger Sung Jin-Woo to the point of landing himself in the hospital, and then turn around and make friends with that same man and succeed. Rumour had even had it that he'd come to South Korea for a social visit with Sung Jin-Woo, and that was why he'd been around - and willing - to hold that Monarch back from slaughtering Seoul long enough for Sung Jin-Woo to arrive.
"Indeed," Woo Jin-Chul agrees. "If any S-ranks outside of South Korea remember, he would almost certainly be one of them. Liu Zhigang as well, perhaps. They were probably considered the strongest Hunters Earth could offer, and Sung Jin-Woo hunter-nim got along with both of them. If we were somehow handpicked to serve as his allies, then they would be top candidates. And then there is
" He trails off, and his expression goes odd for a moment, in a way Hae-In can't read. It's smoothed away again almost immediately. "Well, only time will tell what the Japanese S-ranks will do, if anything at all."
And ah, now Hae-In gets it. She's not sure she wants their help either, but at the same time, beggars can't be choosers. Their whole planet is at stake; they need to gather any help they can get, and say what you will about Goto Ryuji and his guild but you can't deny that - once Awakened - they're all strong enough to lend a hand. If they're willing. But Sung Jin-Woo saved their entire country despite what they'd attempted to do to South Korea. Surely even they can't be so shameless as to try and stab them in the back a second time after knowing that. What even would be the point anymore?
"Here we are," Woo Jin-Chul stops them in front of a set of doors at the end of the hall. There are bodyguards standing in front of them, and she can practically feel their baffled suspicion and disdain, but Woo Jin-Chul steps in front of her without making it look deliberate, and the almost bored but uncompromising stare he pins on them in return makes them twitch and glance away.
They step aside, and Woo Jin-Chul opens the doors and ushers her inside.
The man who stands to greet her is a sight for sore eyes. Hae-In had never had much to do with the Chairman, but he'd been capable and powerful, a solid rock at the head of South Korea's Hunter corps, and while Woo Jin-Chul had been a competent leader for the short time he'd been in office, losing Go Gun-Hee had still been a blow.
"Hunter Cha," Go Gun-Hee smiles, and his face - while still weathered with age - has fewer stress lines and no scars, and there's almost no grey in his hair. "You're the first to arrive aside from Chief Woo here." He motions at the table, laden down with coffee and tea and various pastries, all fresh. "You can help yourself while we wait for the others. And in the meantime, if you're amenable to it, perhaps we can compare notes, so to speak."
Hae-In spots the open laptops on the nearby desk and the neat lines of black that look vaguely like a timeline. She straightens. "Yes, sir!"
It seems reasonable to assume that everyone got the same bundle of memories recounting the war of the gods and Sung Jin-Woo's life, and for those who hadn't lived to the end of their previous timeline, they might've even gotten a run-through of what had happened in those following months, but probably not every single detail of it. And it would just be easier for everyone to stay on the same page if they have notes to refer to once they have to start working out a plan of action.
However, "About Sung Jin-Woo hunter-nim though
" Hae-In brings up, because nobody else has yet. Does he know? Have they contacted him?
Go Gun-Hee looks equal parts amused and resigned for a moment. Woo Jin-Chul clears his throat. "Officially, Sung Jin-Woo hunter-nim has run away from home as of three weeks ago." Hae-In stares at him. Woo Jin-Chul shrugs back almost fatalistically. "We believe he should still be around somewhere, preparing for the upcoming war, but it's been a difficult task to locate him. I'm working on it."
A slew of computers in a side office backs up his words, and after a slight bow to both of them, the man retreats with a mug of coffee and a determined stalk to his stride.
Well, Hae-In supposes if anyone can find a man-turned-boy-hiding-the-fact-that-he-is-actually-an-immortal-shadow-king, it would be the person once in charge of monitoring  and reining in every dangerous individual in the country while keeping an eye on all the ones outside of it.
 -0-
(An hour later, three more S-ranks pile into the room, and Hae-In isn't sure if the awkward deer-in-the-headlights look on her guild leader's face upon catching sight of his tiny thirteen-year-old vice-guildmaster greeting him with a customary salute is more embarrassing or hilarious. Baek Yoon-Ho of course has no qualms laughing at him.)

Sophisticated dreams of Kenny Williams Tjampitjinpa.
Kenny Williams Tjampitjinpa was born around 1950 in Iliya, not far from Kiwirkurra. Western Australia. Kenny is the eldest son of Naata Nungurrayi and her first husband Pilamartitja Tjangala (circa 1917-1961), who died of thirst in the desert two years before their group’s first encounter with white men. In 1963 he and his family came across Jeremy Long's Welfare Branch Patrol. In 1964, Sandy Nim Nim, as Kenny was nicknamed, and his family were brought to Papunya. In May 1988 Kenny began painting his Dreamings for Papunya Tula Artists, aided by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa. Kenny’s principal ‘homestead’ site is Walawala near Kiwirrkurra.
Kenny's main Dreamings tell stories about the (Kuniya) python and Ngamanpura, a swamp west of Kintore where a black berry with the same name can be found. For a few years, Kenny was the chairman of Papunya Tula Artists and in 2000 he won the prestigious Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award. Kenny Williams is a perfectionist: he works slowly and with painstaking care. His paintings can be distinguished by a fine play of careful zig-zag-patterns, executed in subtle earth tones. The whole composition often has a hypnotic effect. Like the old masters from Papunya, Kenny treats his brushes and paint with great pride and reverence.

@vinchenzoquassano Here’s my analysis on the juxtaposition of Han Seok and Vincenzo as brother figures to Han Seo! It got a bit long, so I’m putting it under a cut.
So we all know that Vincenzo and Han Seok are meant to contrast each other a lot, whether it’s fire imagery vs ice imagery, caring about family vs seeing family as a tool, or having everything under control vs being reckless and impulsive. And I think one of the things that really highlights the difference between Vincenzo and Han Seok in ways of thinking/treating others is the way they relate to Han Seo.
From the first interaction between the Jang brothers, we see that their relationship is based on threats, violence, and fear. It is not a sibling relationship, the only thing that connects them as siblings is the fact that they share the same dad. There are none of the usual characteristics of a healthy relationship between siblings, none of the fun, none of the support, no familial love, no empathy, concern, or worry. And their relationship most likely never resembled a proper siblinghood, as we know that Han Seok tormented Han Seo from a young age. Additionally, to begin with Han Seo is just ‘Han Seok’s brother, the puppet chairman’, the shadow of his brother even though ironically it’s Han Seok who remains in the shadows in the beginning. We only see him begin to shine as his own character when he starts to actively plan against Han Seok with the help of Mr Han, and this is only amplified when he starts to look up to Vincenzo.
This is why what Han Seo gets from Vincenzo is so important to him, even to the point of not betraying Vincenzo once Han Seok is out of the picture. It’s all there in that scene where they’re drinking together in episode 18. It’s poignant because the things Han Seo lists that he feels comfortable about with Vincenzo are all things that he’d had bad experiences with when they were with Han Seok. Both duos have scenes involving hockey, but in the SeokSeo scene Han Seo is very much in a lower position of power as he stands unprotected in a suit in contrast to Han Seok’s full hockey gear, getting hit by hockey pucks (we see this contrast again when Han Seo is the one wearing the hockey gear and hitting pucks at executives in suits, more on that later). It’s their first scene together, and it’s a pretty good image of their relationship. Han Seok has always had the high ground, and Han Seo has always felt vulnerable and unprotected from his volatile nature.
In contrast, in the VincenSeo hockey scene both of them are wearing hockey gear, albeit without the helmets. This already shows that at the fundamental level this is a very different relationship, despite there still being a power imbalance. And the absence of the protection of a helmet also implies a level of trust, again in contrast to the way Han Seok had one, both to hide his identity but also to symbolize further distance. We see that Han Seo is at ease to the point where he feels comfortable enough to tease Vincenzo about Cha Young, and make quips/casual comments. Vincenzo is only mildly annoyed, and the atmosphere is far less charged than in the SeokSeo hockey scene. Most notably, even though Vincenzo does hit a puck at Han Seo, does trip him up, and does get annoyed at him, none of it carries the venom it does when Han Seok does it. It’s almost playful, it feels like something real siblings would do together (speaking from experience here), and Vincenzo is never hostile towards Han Seo. When Han Seok does things like that it doesn’t feel like sibling bickering, it feels like abuse. There is real malice in the way Han Seok treats Han Seo in general, and the hockey scene is no exception. So for Han Seo to be able to be in a space which he has always associated with pain/punishment and find himself at ease, not feeling threatened or worried, it must have meant a lot (which we see in the way he cant stop smiling after the hockey scene), and further serves to illustrate the difference in Han Seok and Vincenzo’s behaviour, right down to Vincenzo catching Han Seo when he falls, and Han Seo’s heartfelt thanks to him for helping him see how stupid he’d been.
It’s the same with all the other things he mentioned in the drinking scene. Eating scenes always say something about relationships in this drama (and in kdramas in general actually, but especially so here), and whenever we see Han Seo and Han Seok eating together, it always feels like Han Seo has to walk on eggshells, he can never relax or let his guard down, because he has to worry about Han Seok’s potential outbursts. Like in the scene where Han Seok flips the table and forces Han Seo to hold a knife to his neck, or the scene where they drink together after paying respects to their father. That scene was notable because it’s the scene where we find out that Han Seok killed their father. Han Seo asks Han Seok outright if he’d kill him off too if he got in his way. It’s one of the few times early on that he lets his perceptiveness show in front of Han Seok. Han Seok’s response is not reassuring at all, and he even goes as far as to belittle Han Seo's intelligence, stating that if he was just a little smarter he would have been nicer to him. This is again contrasted by Vincenzo encouraging Han Seo to learn more, and telling him that the mind is one's greatest weapon.
Han Seok's response also makes Vincenzo finally replying that he won’t kill Han Seo because he believes he’s changing for the better all the more impactful. With Han Seok it was always he won’t kill me so long as I am of use, because he needs me to take the fall for him, but with Vincenzo it’s now he won’t kill me because he sees value in me as a person and not a tool. We see this in how Vincenzo gives Han Seo advice, and complements him, albeit in a very roundabout way. I think despite his generally neutral face during their interactions, Han Seo is definitely growing on him. It’s even to the point that he allowed Han Seo to call him hyung, and even beyond that, to see him as a brother. I definitely think both of them need more time to grow as people and learn to relate to each other before this can actually be a proper brotherhood, but you have to start somewhere.
For the first time Han Seo is in an environment where he can let his guard down and confide in someone who is both a role model and a friend to him, even if that person is Vincenzo ‘i can’t ever show my emotional investment’ Cassano (though he has really come a long way since the beginning of the drama). Vincenzo represents all the things Han Seok never did for Han Seo as a brother, whether it’s giving him advice or letting him treat him with familiarity. Which is also an important contrast, that Han Seo calls Vincenzo Vin-hyung from the get go, while he mostly calls Han Seok hyungnim. The fact that Han Seo felt comfortable enough to ask Vincenzo if he could call him like a brother, sulk about it when he said no (”Ok Vincenzo Cassano nim” lol, no one can convince me that Han Seo isn’t a sass master), and then go directly to abbreviating Vincenzo’s name (Vin hyung) really tells us a lot about how much more comfortable he is with Vincenzo.
It is also worth noting that even though Vincenzo is often snarky with Han Seo, their interactions still carry some level of comfort that is completely absent in Han Seok and Han Seo’s scenes, despite the fact that when Han Seok is not being violent he actually treats Han Seo normally (well as ‘normal’ as it can get for them), like when he gives him the watch, when Han Seo is watching him get his hair cut, or when they go hunting. But despite the veneer of that normalcy, their interactions always carry an undercurrent of danger, as we and Han Seo all know that anything could cause Han Seok to explode, like he did in the scene where they were eating together, quite suddenly and very aggressively. That underlying tension is always there, even when Han Seo is seemingly smiling and reacting well to Han Seok, because we know that Han Seok is only tolerating Han Seo because he is of use to him, and will not hesitate to hurt him if he annoys him, or get rid off him should he cross him or cease to be of use. Whereas with Vincenzo, Han Seo is at ease. There is no hidden danger, no fear of an outburst. Vincenzo is someone Han Seo looks up to and feels he can trust enough to go behind Babel team’s backs to collude with. This also highlights once again the way that even Vincenzo's emotionally limited treatment of others contrasts Han Seok's complete disregard for them. He never yells at Han Seo or belittles him in a cruel way, and increasingly their interactions are more casual. Though he's still a bit closed off, Vincenzo also listens to what Han Seo has to say, unlike with Han Seok, where Han Seo can never say what he really thinks.
Lastly, there’s the influence that both Han Seok and Vincenzo have on the way Han Seo behaves. We see that whether he realized it or not, Han Seo imitated and was influenced by some of Han Seok’s behaviour, from hitting hockey pucks at executives (and bullying the executives in general, most likely to feel more powerful), to throwing tantrums/having fits of anger and yelling, ordering a hit on Vincenzo and Cha Young and finding the Babel victims’ information. Likewise, we see that once he decides he’s jumping off that train and siding with Vincenzo, we gradually begin to see his behaviour change. He’s always had a playful/bratty streak, seen in how he was so happy about dodging the thing Han Seok threw at him that one time, in many of his interactions with Mr Han, and in the scene when he comes to Jipuragi in 80s clothes to show off his battle scar. That side of him still manages to appear even around Han Seok, so when he’s around Vincenzo and he doesn’t have to focus on avoiding Han Seok’s outbursts it comes out fully, and we get things like him distracting Vincenzo by calling out Cha Young’s name to score a goal, grinning like a little kid when Vincenzo chased him, and his joy at getting to call Vincenzo Vin hyung.
Additionally, we see that the more closely Han Seo works with Vincenzo, the more brazen he gets around Han Seok. He gets more flippant, and he almost openly praises Vincenzo, he becomes less obedient to Han Seok. All this culminates in the scene where he confronts Han Seok about the Elizabeth Holmes thing and tightens his handcuffs. By finding a role model in Vincenzo, as well as knowing he has the support of someone more powerful than Han Seok, Han Seo was able to finally cut off the puppet strings. We even see that he consulted with and listened to the board/company executives, contrasted to how he’d forced them to eat spicy food and hit hockey pucks at them before. He’s unlearning the volatile and violent behaviour he picked up from Han Seok and applying the advice that Vincenzo gave him, namely that your brain is your greatest weapon. Han Seok always seemed like a dangerous villain because of his violent tendencies and his position of power and influence, but we’ve seen how Vincenzo manages to corner him again and again, and how his irrational actions (coughcoughkillingmrsohcoughcough) are no match for Vincenzo’s strategic thinking. Han Seo sees this as well, and he begins to emulate Vincenzo’s behaviour.
Vincenzo is right that Han Seo is changing for the better, and he is most likely the catalyst for it. We see that from the get go Han Seo is determined to break free, and in the end what gets him there while making sure he doesn’t simply become an ineffective chairman or Han Seok II (with arguably less murder lol) is the appearance of Vincenzo as a reliable brother figure. Now whether or not Vincenzo is actually a good brother figure is a different debate, and I do think he also needs to develop in the area of relating to others before he can truly fulfill the role. Still, so far his influence on Han Seo has been largely positive, and I think given time Han Seo will probably also have a positive effect on him.
In conclusion, if they kill off Han Seo in the end it will be my villain origin story. Thanks for reading! Do share any thoughts/additions!

Salvation
Hi, it's been a while. Sorry for not being active and not posting , college has been really hectic lately but now my semester is coming to an end so I think I'll be able to give this fanfiction more time. Here is the 2nd chapter. Hope y'all enjoy.
------------------------
Chapter 2: A Marionette
The morning of new beginnings, Jia gets ready for her interview, putting up an elegant white dress. “I will finally get to see the so-called crazy CEO,” she thinks while straightening her hair.
Jia decided to not go to Babel with her uncle and instead took her own car, she did not want him to get involved with her interview or recruitment process. After reaching the company building, she takes her sunglasses off and takes in the sight of the tall standing exquisite building, hiding behind the glamour of which were the sorrows of hundreds of thousands of wronged lives and an endless story of corruption.
“Annyeonghaseyo, I’m here for an interview. Could you please tell me where is it being conducted?” She asks the receptionist.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am, but there are no interviews scheduled as of now.”
“But..I got a call yesterday. I’m here for the CEO’s assistant’s post.”
“OH, are you Miss Han Jia?”
“Yes.”
“My apologies Ma’am, you have already been hired.”
“What? But the interview
” Jia got an idea by now what was going on, she was hired without the interview because she was connected to Wusang’s chairman. She was not quite happy about this but again, nothing fair happens in this company and if this was making her aim easier, then be it. She knew she was not underqualified for the job so that’s not even an issue. Without wasting any more time, she asked for directions to the CEO’s office. She met an employee midway who was taking coffee for the chairman.
“This is for Mr. Jang, right? I will take it.” She knocks at the door and enters with the coffee in her hands. “Good morning, sir.” She walks towards the desk with a slight smile and sets the coffee cup down. “Thank You for hiring me, I will not disappoint you.”
Han Seo gets up from his chair with a bright smile, extending his hand he says, “Jia Ssi, happy to see you. Of course, you won’t disappoint, you are Mr. Seung Hyuk’s niece.”
This guy seemed far from a scary psychopath, Jia thought, shaking his hand firmly. “Thank you, sir. Although, I don’t really get how does my capability depend on my uncle’s name.”
“I am really sorry if it offended you
I-I did not mean that. I meant that your uncle is great at what he does so
it looks like it runs in the family.” He says in an apologizing tone, an innocent and warm smile planted on his face.
“It’s alright. I get that a lot. Is there something you want me to do right now? I will start arranging your schedule right away.”
“Umm..Jia Ssi. You don’t have to be stressed, even the coffee, you did not have to bring it in. We have a lot of employees here and I want you to know that you can just enjoy your time here. Also, there is not particularly any schedule right now.”
Jia stares at him with raised eyebrows, this was perplexing. “What the hell is he saying? I don’t have to work? Why else would he hire me? This guy wants to pay me just for nothing? Is he even the chairman? He does not care about his company how
..” Jia thought, her mind being bombarded with tons of questions, until she realized, “He is..not the owner
not the real one. A marionette, he is a marionette.”
“Jia Ssi? Are you okay? You kind of zoned out for a moment.”
“Yeah..yeah. Sir, I understand why you hired me. But not letting me work is too much, I am taking the salary that a lot of other applicants might have needed desperately, it will only be fair for me to hold this job if I work for this position.”
“Like I said, I have nothing lined up right now.” He did not know what to say, because he was not the one who took decisions. Even if he had something lined up, a meeting, an interview, it would first have to go through the confirmation of Han Seok. He could not order his secretary around because he was not in a position to order. “Perhaps you would like to join me in a shooting game? I and your uncle are meeting up tomorrow.Err..you can
take any important calls while I’m..y’know
busy with the game and make a report of important events later? Would that be fine?”
“Something better than nothing, I would love to. Maybe you will start trusting me more with work then.” She said with a disappointed smile. “I can get a lot of information from you, then. Let’s see, Jang Han Seo, if you are one of the wretched beings here or are just a minor chess piece on their board.”
“Andwae, andwae, Jia Ssi, it’s not that I don’t trust you..”
“It’s alright, you don’t have to explain it to me. Okay then, I will be at my desk. Please call me if you need anything, Sir.”
“Sure..sure. Fighting!” He said with a cheerful grin.
A few minutes later, Han Seo rings up Seung Hyuk, “Your niece seems
very adamant. Actually, it does not really look like I need to look out for her.”
“No..no! See that’s why you need to. Don’t let her do anything. Anything. And especially, don’t let her be anywhere near your brother.”
“Well..she gets really upset when I tell her to not do anything. Don’t worry though, now that we have joined forces, I should look out for you and your family, right?”
“Jeongmal kamsahamnida, hwe jang nim.”
After the work hours are over, Han Seo starts leaving the building and Jia follows. In the parking lot a suspicious toy car comes up to him. Jia watches from a safe distance. Han Seo seems to tell his bodyguards to do something about it and suddenly starts panicking. The toy car follows him wherever he tries to run and hide.
“Bomb. BOMB. It’s a bomb. Do something!” He shouts.
“Who would dare to kill Babel’s chairman in such a whim? Looks like a fragile plan. Well looking at how easily he gets scared, they won’t even need a real bomb.” While thinking that, Jia runs toward the car and kicks it hard with her stilettos, causing it to fly back a bit farther from Han Seo. The timer goes off and what comes out of the toy is not a fiery blast but rather a mocking shower of confetti. Jia walks up to it and picks up the piece of paper which had popped out. Han Seo runs behind her telling her to not touch it.
“HAJIMAA! It’s dangerous.”
“It’s just a paper, Sir. A message for you, I suppose. Someone must have pulled a prank.”
“C
.Vin
Aissshh Vincenzo!”
“Vincenzo? The consigliere?”
Han Seo does not reply but the wrinkles of worries on his forehead are enough to tell.
“Sir, you don’t look well. You should go home now, don’t worry about what happened. It is just a prank. If you are still anxious about it, I’ll look into it.”
“No..no..don’t do anything. It’s just a prank, you said? Gwenchana, I’ll be fine.”
“Goodnight, then. Please take care.”
“Vincenzo
shall we meet soon, then?”Jia smirks.

Ready or Not, Part 1
Hong Yu-Chan is not just Chairman Jang Guk-Hwan’s lawyer, also a trustworthy friend. He dies in a car accident shortly after his beloved friend’s unexpected death. Jang Han-Seok and Hong Cha-Young are childhood friends. They have been working together as the Chairman and his loyal lawyer since their fathers’ death.
“Did you take care of it?” Han-Seok asked. “Smoothly, as always. I spent a small piece of your fortune though." She scoffed. “That's why i make it, right?" He winked.
***
Even after ten years, Cha-Young still believes his father was killed. After hearing the existence of The Guillotine File, she starts searching for it. She hopes she will find a clue about her father's murder in the file.
“I may or may not have found something about The Guillotine File.” Han-Seok rolled his eyes wearily. “I don’t understand why you are so obsessed with it.” Her face hardened. “The file was documented by former chief prosecutor. It includes all the corruptions and crimes committed by Korean businessmen, politicians and old money.” She huffed and took a large gulp from her whisky. “There must be something in it about our fathers' deaths. There must be a clue.” “Well, mine was an asshole. So I don’t care what happened to him as long as he stays dead. And about yours
Late-night, drunk driver, old age. Sounds like a tragic fate to me.” “No, it’s not.” Cha-Young was dead serious and Han-Seok knew, she’d go the whole nine yards.
***
With his indifference, she goes after the Guillotine File on her own. Traces take her to the head of the Italian Mafia: La Famiglia Cassano. She gets in touch with their Korean contact man, he gets in touch with The Cassanos. With all her stubbornness, she pushes them to set up a meeting. And then, only weeks later
She books a seat on the direct flight to Italy. What Cha-Young wants, Cha-Young gets, right?
***
And Han-Seo. Final year undergraduate student. Unprofessional hockey player. The future Vice Chairman. Like a brother to Cha Young. Still, she feels he’s hiding something from her. Something she needs to know.
“I’m gonna miss you, Noona. This place doesn’t feel like home when you’re not here.” She playfully punched his upper arm. “Ya! Don’t be such a drama queen! This is my thing.”
***
When Cha-Young lands in Italy, she is greeted by an unexpected greeter.
Cha-Young knew who the attractive young man was. Vincenzo Cassano, the infamous Italian-Korean Consigliere of the Cassano Family. She walked towards him and was about to reach out her hand when he bowed slightly. “Itallia-e osin geos-eul hwan-yeonghabnida, Hong Cha-Young byeonhosa-nim.” She smiled and this time, reached out her hand properly. “È un grande piacere essere qui come ospite della famiglia Cassano.” It was his turn to smile. He shook her hand gently while good looking, young, Italian man -must be his driver, Cha-Young thought- was taking her luggage. “Vincenzo Cassano.” “Are you always the one picking family’s guests up from the airport, Mr. Consigliere?” “Capo thought it’d be better for you to be greeted by a friendly face. Shall we go?”
I blame google for the wrong translation (:
Part 2 will be aired soon - i hope -
