Salvation
Hi, it's been a while. Sorry for not being active and not posting , college has been really hectic lately but now my semester is coming to an end so I think I'll be able to give this fanfiction more time. Here is the 2nd chapter. Hope y'all enjoy.
------------------------
Chapter 2: A Marionette
The morning of new beginnings, Jia gets ready for her interview, putting up an elegant white dress. “I will finally get to see the so-called crazy CEO,” she thinks while straightening her hair.
Jia decided to not go to Babel with her uncle and instead took her own car, she did not want him to get involved with her interview or recruitment process. After reaching the company building, she takes her sunglasses off and takes in the sight of the tall standing exquisite building, hiding behind the glamour of which were the sorrows of hundreds of thousands of wronged lives and an endless story of corruption.
“Annyeonghaseyo, I’m here for an interview. Could you please tell me where is it being conducted?” She asks the receptionist.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am, but there are no interviews scheduled as of now.”
“But..I got a call yesterday. I’m here for the CEO’s assistant’s post.”
“OH, are you Miss Han Jia?”
“Yes.”
“My apologies Ma’am, you have already been hired.”
“What? But the interview…” Jia got an idea by now what was going on, she was hired without the interview because she was connected to Wusang’s chairman. She was not quite happy about this but again, nothing fair happens in this company and if this was making her aim easier, then be it. She knew she was not underqualified for the job so that’s not even an issue. Without wasting any more time, she asked for directions to the CEO’s office. She met an employee midway who was taking coffee for the chairman.
“This is for Mr. Jang, right? I will take it.” She knocks at the door and enters with the coffee in her hands. “Good morning, sir.” She walks towards the desk with a slight smile and sets the coffee cup down. “Thank You for hiring me, I will not disappoint you.”
Han Seo gets up from his chair with a bright smile, extending his hand he says, “Jia Ssi, happy to see you. Of course, you won’t disappoint, you are Mr. Seung Hyuk’s niece.”
This guy seemed far from a scary psychopath, Jia thought, shaking his hand firmly. “Thank you, sir. Although, I don’t really get how does my capability depend on my uncle’s name.”
“I am really sorry if it offended you…I-I did not mean that. I meant that your uncle is great at what he does so…it looks like it runs in the family.” He says in an apologizing tone, an innocent and warm smile planted on his face.
“It’s alright. I get that a lot. Is there something you want me to do right now? I will start arranging your schedule right away.”
“Umm..Jia Ssi. You don’t have to be stressed, even the coffee, you did not have to bring it in. We have a lot of employees here and I want you to know that you can just enjoy your time here. Also, there is not particularly any schedule right now.”
Jia stares at him with raised eyebrows, this was perplexing. “What the hell is he saying? I don’t have to work? Why else would he hire me? This guy wants to pay me just for nothing? Is he even the chairman? He does not care about his company how…..” Jia thought, her mind being bombarded with tons of questions, until she realized, “He is..not the owner…not the real one. A marionette, he is a marionette.”
“Jia Ssi? Are you okay? You kind of zoned out for a moment.”
“Yeah..yeah. Sir, I understand why you hired me. But not letting me work is too much, I am taking the salary that a lot of other applicants might have needed desperately, it will only be fair for me to hold this job if I work for this position.”
“Like I said, I have nothing lined up right now.” He did not know what to say, because he was not the one who took decisions. Even if he had something lined up, a meeting, an interview, it would first have to go through the confirmation of Han Seok. He could not order his secretary around because he was not in a position to order. “Perhaps you would like to join me in a shooting game? I and your uncle are meeting up tomorrow.Err..you can…take any important calls while I’m..y’know…busy with the game and make a report of important events later? Would that be fine?”
“Something better than nothing, I would love to. Maybe you will start trusting me more with work then.” She said with a disappointed smile. “I can get a lot of information from you, then. Let’s see, Jang Han Seo, if you are one of the wretched beings here or are just a minor chess piece on their board.”
“Andwae, andwae, Jia Ssi, it’s not that I don’t trust you..”
“It’s alright, you don’t have to explain it to me. Okay then, I will be at my desk. Please call me if you need anything, Sir.”
“Sure..sure. Fighting!” He said with a cheerful grin.
A few minutes later, Han Seo rings up Seung Hyuk, “Your niece seems…very adamant. Actually, it does not really look like I need to look out for her.”
“No..no! See that’s why you need to. Don’t let her do anything. Anything. And especially, don’t let her be anywhere near your brother.”
“Well..she gets really upset when I tell her to not do anything. Don’t worry though, now that we have joined forces, I should look out for you and your family, right?”
“Jeongmal kamsahamnida, hwe jang nim.”
After the work hours are over, Han Seo starts leaving the building and Jia follows. In the parking lot a suspicious toy car comes up to him. Jia watches from a safe distance. Han Seo seems to tell his bodyguards to do something about it and suddenly starts panicking. The toy car follows him wherever he tries to run and hide.
“Bomb. BOMB. It’s a bomb. Do something!” He shouts.
“Who would dare to kill Babel’s chairman in such a whim? Looks like a fragile plan. Well looking at how easily he gets scared, they won’t even need a real bomb.” While thinking that, Jia runs toward the car and kicks it hard with her stilettos, causing it to fly back a bit farther from Han Seo. The timer goes off and what comes out of the toy is not a fiery blast but rather a mocking shower of confetti. Jia walks up to it and picks up the piece of paper which had popped out. Han Seo runs behind her telling her to not touch it.
“HAJIMAA! It’s dangerous.”
“It’s just a paper, Sir. A message for you, I suppose. Someone must have pulled a prank.”
“C….Vin…Aissshh Vincenzo!”
“Vincenzo? The consigliere?”
Han Seo does not reply but the wrinkles of worries on his forehead are enough to tell.
“Sir, you don’t look well. You should go home now, don’t worry about what happened. It is just a prank. If you are still anxious about it, I’ll look into it.”
“No..no..don’t do anything. It’s just a prank, you said? Gwenchana, I’ll be fine.”
“Goodnight, then. Please take care.”
“Vincenzo…shall we meet soon, then?”Jia smirks.

hanseo is actually really strong even from the beginning if you think about it. i'm like the poster child for bragging about how much he grows up as the show goes on and i still stand by that, but the dude was so traumatized by his brother that he was pushed into drug abuse and had to go to therapy, and the hanseo we see has already worked past that. i cannot begin to imagine how hard it was to endure constant physical and mental torment for as long as he did and to still recover from a drug habit in the middle of it. just because he frantically apologizes when hanseok lashes out doesn't mean he's weak at all man

Salvation
Chapter 1: No Big Steps
Jia reaches the airport and finds a car waiting for her, she remembers her uncle telling her that he’d send his driver to pick her up. She texted her uncle after reaching home. Collapsing on the bed, she let out a long sigh. She missed her room. She missed her home. “Urghh…jet lag.” She started to wonder how the chairman would be, from what she has heard, he was a total maniac, ruthless, egotistic and had a bad temper. She had to be careful around this one, she could not let her plans go south just in the beginning after all.
She woke up as her alarm rang at 8 in the morning, she still had to get used to the time zone difference and set a new sleep schedule, but today was important and comfort was a second concern. She took a shower and put on a black dress with zebra stripes, burgundy-coloured boots and a black hat. She finished her look with a gold chain necklace and with a bold makeup. After taking her sling bag, she stepped out of her room and found her uncle setting some side dishes on the dining table.
“Samchon!” She yelled in a jolly and excited voice, as if she was a child again and hugged her uncle.
“Good Morning, Jia. I have missed you so much. See, all your favourite dishes.”
Jia looked at all the dishes on the table in awe, “I have missed you too. WOW, it’s been so long since I had authentic Korean food! Thank You!”
“Sit down and eat all you want. And why are you all dressed up at 8 in the morning?”
“I want to visit your workplace.”
Seung Hyuk sighed disappointingly. “This is why I forbade you from coming. Didn’t you get a lesson after what happened when you were working against GK? You nearly died. Jiaya, Babel is more dangerous than GK. You don’t know…”
“I know, Samchon. I know very well, that’s why I am doing this. And the part that I don’t know, I will know soon. I can’t sit back forever and let you dive right into an ocean full of sharks.”
“Jia..look.”
“Please, don’t stop me. I promise I’ll be more careful this time. Trust me.”
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
“Well, for now, I just need to know this company well. No big steps. Also, I need to meet Cha Young, I missed her so much.” Cha Young and Jia were very close friends, but Jia cut contacts with her after the GK incident happened. She wanted to lie low for some time.
“Cha Young..does not work in Wusang anymore. It is a long story.”
“Okay..do you know where does she work now? I will just go there.”
“I know, but if you want to work in Babel, you can’t be friends with Cha Young. She’s fighting against them.”
“Suddenly? Something really bad must have happened. Now, I definitely need to see her. Don’t worry about Babel. I know how to con people; I did learn things from GK.”
“Fine, fine. Do whatever you want, it’s not like you are going to listen to me anyway.”
They leave for Wusang after having breakfast and as soon as Jia sets foot in the company, she sees a guy stumbling around sheepishly, carrying a black backpack and few papers in his hands.
“Oh, Good Morning, Boss. Ms. Choi is looking for you, she is very angry. Vincenzo is onto something again.”
“Uhh…okay I’ll go see her. Jia, you can take a look around.”
“Don’t worry, Boss. I’ll accompany her.” He said with an innocent smile.
“Jia, don’t do anything stupid without informing me.” Seung Hyuk said with a grimace, he did not want to leave her alone with Han Seok but if he refused now, it would only create more suspicion.
“I’ll be alright, Samchon. You should go now.”
Jia looked at the guy who was still smiling, “So, what’s your name?”
“Jang Jun Woo. Nice to meet you.” He extended his hand and surprisingly, he was good at English, his accent sounded American.
“Han Jia.” Jia shook his hand firmly. “Did you live abroad?”
“Oh..yes…I studied in New York. By the way, what should I call you? You seem younger but I don’t want to talk informaly.” He made a pout and said, “Boss will kill me.”
“Just call me Jia. He won’t kill you.” Jia said while laughing.
“Are you going to join Wusang? I heard you have been a legal advisor.”
“Nope. I am going to join Babel.”
“B...Babel?” Jun Woo stuttered.
“Why are you so shocked? Do you think I’m not good enough?”
“No..no no..it’s just..Babel is very demanding, and the CEO is kind of…”
“I know. I have heard things. Words and rumours don’t really scare me though.”
“Wow! You really are one of a kind. What position will you apply for?”
“The chairman’s P.A.”
“Isn’t being a P.A. too low a post for you?”
“We have just met. Are you a spy or a detective or something? C’mon now, don’t spoil the mood by mentioning work. You are supposed to show me around.”
“Umm, sorry. I did not mean to offend you, I’m not very good at socializing.” He said with the sheepish smile again.
She nodded and gave him a pat on the shoulder, “Don’t worry.”
Later at night, Han Seok told Han Seo to give Jia the post of his Personal Secretory without interviewing her.
“Okay, Hyung Nim. Is she your acquaintance?”
“I am trying to find that out. It would be great if she is, and if she’s not. I’ll make her one. Can’t let go of a GK employee.”
“I don’t..really understand. Do you already know her?”
“Oh, my poor brother, if you understood everything you wouldn’t be my puppet. Don’t think too much, hmm?” He said while mocking his brother, like he always did. “For now, just know that she is Mr. Han’s niece. Also, keep a close eye on her.”
Han Seo nodded in agreement, but his heart and mind disagreed. This incessant war between what he wanted to do and what he did has been going on since he was young. Alas! He had no choice.

Salvation
What is this about? AN AU WHERE OUR FAV HAN SEO IS ALIVE, I’M GIVING HIM A FEMALE LEAD.
This is set in the same universe as the drama Private Lives, thus mentions GK Technology.
Word Count: 500
Warnings: None
_____________
PROLOGUE
Han Seung Hyuk did not want his niece to come back to Korea. She was adamant to work for Babel, because she had heard things, things that made her anxious for the only family she has, her uncle. She did not want her uncle to get involved with such a company, and the only way she thought she could stop him was to work with Babel herself, expose them and get her uncle to cut all ties with this corrupted company. That is exactly why Han Seung Hyuk did not want her to come back from London, he might be a man driven by his greed but his niece was precious to him, he wanted her to live far away from this trap and war, peacefully. As if the crazy chairman was not enough, now a Mafia was after Babel.
“Jia, listen, you don’t need to come here at all. Okay? I am not going to get into trouble, I am on very good terms with the chairman, so..”
“Samchon, I am bored here. I promise I won’t get in trouble with Babel, okay?”
“I know you very well, you will do something unpredictable and dangerous. I can’t allow you to come here.”
“Too bad then, I’m already on board. Will see you soon. Annyeong!”
“Jia..Jia!” He shouted and all the employees started staring at him.
“What’s it, Boss? Everything all right?” Asked Jang Han Seok, no one except Seung Hyuk, Myung Hee and his own brother knew that he was the real chairman of Babel. A sheer psychopath, who does not think twice before beating people up to death. The frightening part was that he could make himself appear like the most innocent and purest being on Earth, could fool anyone while acting like a fool.
“Nothing, err, it’s just..not important” Seung Hyuk said hesitantly, avoiding looking at Han Seok, he was low-key scared of him after Han Seok killed a man brutally with his hockey stick.
“Jia, that’s what you said. She’s the niece you told me about few years ago, isn’t she?”
Seung Hyuk regretted telling Myung Hee everything for this one time.
“Does she still want to work with us? I’m wondering why are you letting her talent go waste? Didn’t she work with the Vision Room in GK Technology?”
“Didn’t she get caught when GK got exposed?” Han Seok asked with a smirk.
“Uhh, she..fled to London after that, she has been working there.” Jia helped expose GK too, no one knew about that. She did her job well as a private detective, then started her career as a legal advisor in London.
“If she wants to work with Babel, let her. We will decide if we should keep her around or not.” Myung Hee said, she was skeptical about Jia but she knew that Jia could be of help against this Mafia.

I honestly need any AU right now where Han Seo is alive, probably saved by a female lead who loves him. Han Seo getting love, and a normal life. I might as well just write one because the finale was extremely disappointing for me, the way Han Seo died and how Chayenzo were leaving him behind to fight a psycho didn't make sense at all. I'm rioting.
