Rolling on the floor at the concept that Ambrosius is canonically a weird ass name, like in-universe it’s not a normal fucking name

And that's Genocide done with.

Hmm....got to be honest I'm really not sure about this one. I really wanted to like it, as Eight is my all time favourite Doctor. But with this adventure there wasn't much....well intrigue. Maybe because I read the blurb - it kinda spoils things for me. Reading it, I got the impression that what it describes was just the start. But instead it describes what happens over the course of the book itself, and when it gets there there's not much else that can happen (I know that sounds cryptic but I dont want to spoil things).
And there's no excitement, at least not for me. Everything that goes on in this book just sort of happens. And after Relative Dementias, its kind of disheartening.
That said, the ending does seem to pick up a bit, which makes me wonder if it wasn't just my concentration levels. Like with Dreams of Empire, I may have to come back and read this one again before I eventually move on to the rest of the EDA's...maybe even restart the whole range....
But I'm enjoying reading the Doctor and Sam - the latter of which I've taken to having the voice of Janey from My Family. The writer did a great job of capturing their characters and I'm enjoying reading this early 8th Doctor with so much energy and emotional range.
And I love the idea of the Tractites - it's so satisfying to get an actually alien, non humanoid to deal with. If this was done in the series they'd probably have looked more like Nimon. But, as is the beauty with books and audios, you use your imagination to think up the creatures (or fanart).
So yes. Don't read the blurb on this one. Just dive in.
Next up is another re-read. It's Engines of War by George Mann, with the War Doctor and Cinder
