hope someone knocks out basilashvili in the first round of AO. that man doesn't deserve any praise and success, he's a wife beater and supports Georgia's illegitimate pro russian government

Seoul Ch F: Nikoloz Basilashvili def. Taro Daniel [1] 7-5, 6-4 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
T. Daniel was clutch enough on his serves when he tried to fend off some break points in the middle of the first set, but N. Basilashvili stayed consistent through his down-the-line approach in some crucial instances, which caused him to steadily turn the flow around as the match progressed. From there, he went after the first seed's forehands, whose errors did not help anything despite his best efforts to stay in the match. As a result, even if T. Daniel had a 100% break point conversion rate solely from the earlier break in the first set, N. Basilashvili created 9 break points even if he only converted 33% of them, 2 of which came from the first set.
Somehow, N. Basilashvili's service game also appeared more solid among the two players. Scoring overwhelmingly 10 aces than T. Daniel's 1, the unseeded Georgian won 88% of his first serve points, 12% more than the first seed, which helped him to shift the moment from the middle of the first set. However, despite both players double-faulting thrice, T. Daniel's second serves appeared more vulnerable as he only won 45% of his second serve points, which did not help him relieve more pressure on his serves.
Marking N. Basilashvili's first Challenger title since the Heilbronn Challenger 2016, he consolidated his return closer to the Top 300 by ascending to the #212 in the official rankings. As both players withdrew from the Matsuyama Challenger, their next tournament will be the Kobe Challenger, which would be the next one in the Japanese Challenger swing at this part of the year. And the grind continues.

Add the following events to the list, op.
Thiago Seyboth Wild being allowed back onto the tour in 2023 after his ex came out with allegations.
Nikoloz Basilashvili being allowed on the tour after his wife accused him of DV, and he was actually arrested for it in Georgia.
And, Nick Kyrgios being allowed to play at, and making the final of, Wimbledon in 2022, after being accused of, and admitting to, abusing his ex-girlfriend.
Also, Dan Evans receiving the warmest of welcomes back onto the tour after being busted for using cocaine at a nightclub.
the moment seems right to share again this article about the domestic abuse charges of a player that the ATP circuit is currently allowing to play at one of the most prestigious tournaments, the same week his trial is supposed to take place

Nikoloz Basilashvili is a domestic abuser and shouldn’t be allowed to play
Nick Kyrgios is a domestic abuser and shouldn’t be allowed to play

The second set turned out to be an entirely different ordeal as N. Basilashvili set things up from the beginning, continuing to rush T. Daniel's forehands until he broke early to 1-0. Consolidating his lead to 2-0, he then continued by firing another forehand winner in hopes to double his advantage, but the first seed still put himself on the board with a service game hold to 2-1.
Despite T. Daniel's best chances, N. Basilashvili's time to serve for the match then came in the tenth game. Without any further hesitation, he held to 0, taking the second set 6-4 with an ace to secure his first Challenger-level title since the Heilbronn Challenger 2016.
