Just thinking about the fact that Sakura agreed to go on a date with Tsubaki-chan—who canonically identifies as male—and then was visibly flustered and disappointed when it wasn't a real date. Wind Breaker (as it tends to do) plays this off so smoothly and moves on so quickly that it's easy to overlook the full implications of what it's doing here, but this feels like kind of a big fucking deal to me.

It's not like this is a joke or misunderstanding on Sakura's part (other than it not being an actual date). Tsubaki-chan's gender is made very explicit in the preceding chapter, but Sakura still agrees to the date when Tsubaki-chan asks him out afterward!

Sakura also reacts so overtly to Tsubaki-chan's initial proposition and is so disappointed to find out that it's not really a date (brb sobbing) that you can't really say he didn't know what he was agreeing to. He probably hasn't been on a date before, but I'm sure this kid at least knows what a date is, that it's normally romantic, and that guys don't normally go out on dates with other guys unless they're attracted to guys.

While we're at it, let's not forget that Sakura blushes pretty hard when Endo tells him he's fallen for him, too. Just saying... There's a pattern here.
