HIS head pounds && with every pained heartbeat blue blood fills the edge of his vision. there trails a ghost there, pale && dark at once, garbed in black robes like death. he remembers it in parts, distorted visions, not unlike waking from a dream - no, a nightmare. the normandy; blue && grey && cold in its sleekness. eden prime; red, a paradise on fire. the geth; their smooth carapaces like mockeries of his people, synthetic muscle, sun-bright gazes. saren.

his mentor’s voice still ECHOES in the depths of his rattled mind, the vast && endless cave of it. it lies empty of all but those words - don’t worry. don’t worry. don’t worry. then the darkness, cold, everlasting && all too brief. thoughts whirl in his head, shatter against his pierced skull. betrayal sinks into him more readily than the bullet. the last face nihlus ever saw before he died was that of a man he loved.
