I don’t really know why I’m writing this and I hope it doesn’t come off as self absorbed or anything like that but I genuinely feel like Marcelloix is special to me.  I don’t really roleplay but I do make little headcanons and stories for my characters and I just have this strange connection to him if that makes any sense.

I don’t play FFXIV often anymore but I just feel happy whenever I get to talk about this dork or his feathered companion.  He just wants to be happy and free to explore the world and make friends.

I’ve tried FFXIV since 1.0′s closed beta. (Which after playing that steaming pile of shit, I gave up on it.) Though after 2.0′s beta launched, and some pushes from a friend. I decided to play this game again. Which, I am glad to have been here for so long. I’ve had drama on the server sure, but you know what? It’s my bonds that helped me stay. I’d love to mention a few people, whom deserve love. @nataruhirano  My best friend for about as long as I’ve been on this server. They’re very laid back, and fun to be around.  @mihookochi Another great friend of mine who slaps me silly when I’m being understandably stupid. She keeps me in check, all the while being a complete sweet heart. As I posted before, I am riddled with social anxiety. It’s one of the few things I self-inserted into Lumina, even if it doesn’t make sense.  I’m glad to have started to finally over come my fears and reach out to others. Even if I fucked that up a few times. I’d like to thank @kasumi-ffxiv too, while we just kinda started to goof and laugh together, she’s been very helpful with my confidence. I’d love to mention Hikari Ayano. One of my closest friends in game. She’s done wonders, just listening to me ramble on about my insecurities, and my problems. If not for her, I would of probably never worked up the courage to message someone. (You know who you are.)  I’d like to thank @astromancy for also being there for me when I was in a rough part of my life. This is getting long. I should probably stop blabbing here.

Charlemont Mercaiges

ONE PLACE ♦ The forests behind Charlemont’s childhood home, Stonemoor.  He spent many a day in those woods, riding, running, playing, and napping underneath the dappled sunlight.  It holds fond memories for him.

TWO VILLAINS ♦ Ishgard, period. ♦ His own dogged persistence.

THREE RELATIONSHIPS ♦ Magalie Dartancours.  The Velvet Moon, Sister Dearest.  She is the only constant in Char’s life, even when she isn’t.  There is nothing he would not do for her, and she for him.  Mags can be found at @stab-sister ♦ Emon’i de Allond.  The Woman.  The only one to ever pierce her way underneath Charlemont’s skin and lodge herself there, leaving him impossibly annoyed and yet somehow growing fond of her as well.  While starting as staunch enemies, they have since become… friendly.  Ish. Emon’i can be found at @ethereal-anomaly ♦ Abelaire Cygnnoire, a dear childhood friend with whom Charlemont lost touch years ago.  They were reunited by chance and swept up in a brief whirlwind romance with each other, only to burn out quickly and lose touch once more. FOUR ITEMS ♦ An antique gold pomander, encrusted with rubies and inlaid with a mother-of-pearl lily.  It has been in the family for years, and Charlemont keeps it under lock and key. ♦ A ruby signet ring, the very same loaned to Sylvain, which he also guards with the utmost secrecy and priority. ♦ Moko or somnus laced cigarettes.  While Charlemont is not an addict by any stretch of the imagination, moko and somnus - just a touch - often help him to truly relax his perpetually cold body and analytical mind. ♦ Small gold hoop earrings.  It is a rare day indeed that he is found without one in each ear - quite old and expensive, from the looks of them.

FIVE CHARACTERS ♦ Sylvain Tolbert, an Ishgardian lord with too little practicality and too much time and money (at least previously) on his hands.  An antagonist for Char, he took it upon himself to blackmail the Duskwight after discovering his true identity, in an attempt to rescue his sister.  It worked.  Kinda.  Sylvain can be found at @sylvain-tolbert ♦ Laure Labaste, the head chef of the house he serves as a house knight.  Laure is practical, no-nonsense, harsh, and has a heart made of gold.  Char can be found sometimes in her company in the kitchen, watching her bake and trading stories with her.  Fantastic cook, as you would expect.  She lost her son in The Dragonsong War, and never speaks of his father. Laure is a minor character of mine, and can occasionally be found at @smokespun ♦ Raven Alderscorn, Lord of Alderscorn Manor and last of his name.  A curious, respectable, and trustworthy businessman that Charlemont began a professional relationship with shortly after accepting his post at House Sartigault.  Since then they have become casual acquaintances, and speak about more than just mun-tuy beans and honey lemons.  Raven can be found at @housealderscorn ♦ Dacien Mythale, Lord of Mythale Manor and proprietor of the Quills And Curiosities bookshop.  Charlemont visited Ser Dacien for counsel after a chance meeting at a holiday party in which they both determined the other was similarly familiar with the void.  He proved knowledgeable and trustworthy, and Char is grateful for his assistance.  Dacien can be found at @quills-and-curiosities ♦ Frederique Sombremont.  A rather odd, forthright chap who seems to quite expertly pluck the nerves of every individual he meets on a case by case basis.  Charlemont rather enjoys his ostentatious and often rude, clueless (or is it?) manner, though he suspects there is a whole lot more to that man than meets the eye.  Fred can be found at @snarkyelf

SIX MOMENTS ♦ Temporarily entrusting a dangerous magical family heirloom to Sylvain in an effort to rescue his sister from The Void.  Story found here. ♦ Turning to his sister in an effort to keep his secret safe, after Abel having broken into his apartment, and Emon’i dispelling his wards.  Story found here. ♦ Realizing that the sexy fortune teller he met in Limsa was actually his long lost childhood friend.  It happened under the influence of a large amount of alcohol, and he heavily denied his true identity even when confronted with it.  Eventually though, he relented.  Outside of Charlemont’s immediate family, only two people know who he really is. ♦ Returning as a child from what he believed to be a dream of the forest, only to discover himself covered in dirt and leaves, hair a mess, bed cold from his absence.  Magalie held him close to her for the rest of the night, warming him, scared for what might have happened and what might still. ♦ Having had the ability to see and communicate with ghosts his entire life, not to mention coming from a rather eccentric family, Charlemont never thought anything strange of his talent.  The discovery came in his early teens, when he relayed a message to his private tutor from his deceased son, only to be met with horror.  The tutor left the house, never to return, and the other students confirmed to Char that no, people don’t normally see ghosts. ♦ Watching his sister from afar at a gala in Ul’dah last Starlight, schmoozing her way through the guests like a glittering siren… and promising himself that one day she would be doing this in Ishgard as is her right.

@onyrica​ challenged us for November and December to create a piece of art (it could be anything, from drawing to writing) with the theme of Noirvember and this is my Entry.

The idea was to have one of those common situation in Noire movies where the assassin or the thief would wait for the hero to walk in a place where nobody goes to attack them. In that specific case En’to being aware of the plot and waiting for it to unfold.

I tried my best to make everything work as I wanted.. Which of course means that nothing did, but the result isn’t too bad so I can live with it :D !

⚫ Keelah is an adept marksman with a bow. It is her weapon of choice as she prefers to take down her targets from long range. Keelah constantly works to perfect this skill.

⚫ Though Keelah prefers to use her bow, when called upon she can put up a fierce fight. She’s quick, she’s feisty and despite her short stature she packs one hell of a punch. She is also very skilled with a knife and carries a small collection of blades on her person at all time.

⚫  Keelah has a knack for alchemy. At first she dabbled in alchemy just to understand Jack’s ramblings. However, after a little idle study she fell in love with the science. Keelah now uses alchemy in every aspect of her work and day to day life. From creating various toxins to help her infiltrate a facility to mixing up some rather potent aphrodisiacs or lubricants to help spice up the lives of her clientele. She has plans to release her own line of sensual lifestyle products.

⚫  Keelah has a beautiful singing voice, but not only that, she can also play the piano and has been teaching herself to play a wooden flute she found while on her travels to Doma. Reflections [Long Post]

The sky lights up with an array of colors once more as another year in the world of Eorzea concludes. Many adventures have been held, those that have had both good and bad endings, but we're still here standing strong in a world and community we adore. The people I have met and got to know and friends I've grown closer to, I couldn't be happier to have such a wonderful bunch of people around me. I love you all.

Resh'a and I are still growing and learning things about ourselves and the world, striving to improve ourselves. Our journeys continue both in the world of Eorzea and in the real world, and we appreciate all the love and support we get from all of you! We're here to support you too, always!

The friends I have made in this game, I hold deep within my heart, they are all wonderful people with big hearts, imaginations, and great talent! I can’t wait to see them grow in so many ways in the future and share many great memories with them whether it’s in-game or out!

                                                                                GROWTH & GRATITUDE

When Heavensward launched I was in a pretty awkward point in-game. I wasn’t entirely too invested in XIV or in MMO’s in general. The group I played with was a mix of old-school MMO WoW veterans and die-hard FF fans. I wasn’t exactly mechanic savvy nor too enthralled in the lore behind this game. I was put in a weird spot, to say the least. I couldn’t help but feel out of place with both the friends I had and the giant community sprawled out before me. It took...countless fucking hours of throwing my head against content, seeking guidance from other players, and fighting against my own ignorance to get comfortable playing this game.  Around that time, I had also stumbled across the XIV community here on Tumblr through a friend. Our community is a vast fucking place and I felt extremely overwhelmed at first. Like, I can barely interact with people in-game as it is, man. I had no clue how things worked on this end. However, one thing I was quickly able to latch onto were screenshot edits. I’d had....many...many years of experience with this concept back when I was roleplaying (on Myspace of all things). It was after this little rediscovery that I found my niche here and the rest of it is pretty self-explanatory. Fast forward two(ish) years later and things have changed. I love this damn game guys, I really do. Being able to experience new content, striving to improve both job and player skill is such a damn thrill for me. I’m confident in what I can offer as a player and I’m constantly excited for new opportunities to grow.

As for this blog, oh man...I never in a million years expected this to be where it’s at today. I really just used this blog to selfishly post screenshots and fuck man....the response has just been so overwhelmingly wonderful. 

Look, I’ve never been particularly good at expressing my feelings, ESPECIALLY not through writing. Things come a bit more naturally through speech but most of the time? I keep to myself outside of my small circles and even then I tend to internalize my anxieties onto myself. It’s tough conveying my thoughts into words since my mind tends to race around. However, despite these difficulties, one thing that’s always come naturally to me is the ability to express gratitude. I am so damn thankful to those of you who have had a hand in helping me grow both as a player and as a member of this community. So before we trudge off into expansion, I wanted to draft something up to commemorate the time I’ve spent with each of you:

Thank you, buddy, for being one of the best friends I’ve ever had and for playing XIV with me. It means more than you know and more than I’ll ever fucking admit because fuck you. 

Thank you always, @fishtailsushi I love you the world over and playing XIV together with you is something I’ll remember for the rest of our lives. You’ve grown so much in this game and in many aspects, you’re a far better player than I am. Thank you for continuing to stand with me and in making memories with all of our crazy friends. Finally... thank you to everyone who’s been a part of the journey thus far. I’m not sure where things will end up in Stormblood, but I can promise you that I’m going to continue to improve, both as a player and a member of this crazy community. So if you’ve made it this far, take to heart that regardless of our differences, we’re all in this together. Fuck whatever discourse may pop up and just try to have fun and focus on all the good around you because as you can see, this place full of love, you’ve just got to open yourself up to it.-

☼ Have you learned any new skills from being involved in RP (coding, editing, making GIFs, etc)?

Hmm that’s a good question. I mean I’ve always been into photoshop and such but…if we hop into the way back machine…

I used to make ton of LJ icons for RPs that I was in there and that used to be TONs of fun for me in kind of a zen way.

I do kind of miss the LJ format sometimes for doing RP. It was pretty awesome. Recently I started getting into gif making for FFXIV reaction pics with the help of @nightmaze ‘s guide that I was directed to thanks to @cynicaldjinn.

But I can’t any more since my trial of CS6 has run out and I can’t afford the subscription :[

How old are you? I am 33! Hard to believe haha

What’s your current job? Gradually working my way to taking over the world.

What are you talented at? I think my main ‘talent’ is writing, since I’ve been doing it for so long. Screenshot edits seem to be a close second, but I can still use a lot of practice.

What is a big goal you are working toward (or have already achieved)? To be able to paint freehand without the need for screenshots.

What’s your aesthetic? I’d say anything 80′s, blue and green hues, fantasy creatures or settings, elves, peacocks, and of course pretty boys.

Do you collect anything? Not really. I suppose if I could collect anything it would be art or dream catchers.

What’s a topic you always talk about? Gaming or roleplay, both are pretty close to equal. But I also don’t mind serious topics and I especially enjoy philosophy. I’m big into ‘what-if’ topics even if it is only speculation.

What’s a pet peeve of yours? I have a few honestly. I don’t like it when people breathe in my face. It’s rare but it makes it hard for me to be close to people, just freaks me out. I also can’t drink or eat something someone else has touched. I don’t like arrogance. Being proud of what you do is one thing, acting like you’re above someone else because of it is another matter. 

Good advice to give? Nothing easy is worth doing. No matter what you’re interested in, expect bumps along the way as well as mistakes. But it’s all a part of learning and growing, to get better and achieve the goals you’re after. There will always be someone ‘better’ than you but it doesn’t make what you do any less special or worth it. Focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t.
