When morning grey meets nightlyred Coming back to my hotel in Male Strana after a morning walk. It is minus 14 degrees, and as freezing as it gets in this part of Central Europe in winter. Half of my luggage getting here was warm clothing. But it really does not matter when you walk these old, classic streets in the Little/Lesser city, with roots back to the founding as Nove Mesto, New Town, in 1257. The city on the slopes under Praha/Prag Castle on Hradcany Hill was a royal privileged town close to the royal protection of the castle and fortress walls. Later, with another New Town established on the other side of River Vltava, it become the little town, with a view to the more affluent Old Town over Karlovo Most, the Charles Bridge. Here, the german minority and later italian traders was consentrated. And now this is where the medieval town is best preserved. Foodies and people looking for fine dining will find it here. And some old shops sells watches and classick clocks, and fine crystal glassware of the exclusive böhmische/bohemian style. And then you have the antiques. And about 0800 in the morning, the night lamps warming red gives way to the more greyish daylight. Fanged Sea Serpent

One of the smaller breeds of sea serpents at a mere 12 to 15 feet (enough for Large size), the fanged sea serpents are nomadic and often hunt in packs to bring down larger prey. Their victims are confronted with poisonous bites from all sides, spilling blood in the water even as the poison saps their vitality.  Aggressive, simple, and direct, fanged sea serpents are a good choice for a direct aquatic encounter.  There are other uses, too.  At Int 5, they’re just smart enough to use as minions of a larger, more powerful aquatic creature, especially if yours are a bit smarter than usual, and smart enough to serve as a bit more intelligent and independent antagonist for a simple quest (or what looks like one until the real plot hook shows up).

Although she has grand plans, grand plans indeed, as yet the dragon turtle Tharocea has not managed to secure lackeys and underlings completely befitting a being of her stature.  A pair of her most powerful minions are the fanged sea serpents Inilk and Ohen.  While more intelligent than most of their kind, that doesn’t make them bright. Tharocea’s usual use for them is herding merchant ships for pirates.  Usually those pirates are those loyal to Tharocea – or someone flying her flag, at any rate, which isn’t necessarily the same thing – but mishaps happen occasionally.  Sometimes they even herd her pirates toward pirate catchers by accident.

Several fanged sea serpents have moved into the waters of the Marai Gulf, driving the local merfolk tribes into conflict with their neighbors just to eat.  Their raids on fishing nets and lobster traps have driven the local fishing fleets to the brink of armed conflict, especially as the merfolk have raised their usual prices for pearls and dye snails to compensate.  Proud and independent, the merfolk are hesitant to ask for help with their real problem but if something isn’t done soon, the situation may end in blood.

Off the south-eastern coast of Stuotho, in the Nygeps Sea, a pair of fanged sea serpents have formed a symbiotic relationship with a sargassum fiend.  Immune to the plant’s mirage pheromones, the sea serpents lurk in waiting in the nearby coral before lunging out to savage anyone enraptured by the phantasmal lure.  They also help protect the sargassum, drowning sailors and helping to tear apart anyone who seems to resist the fiend’s call or offer it harm as well as preying on fish that would naturally be drawn to feed on the sargassum.  In return, the plant ignores them and lets them share in its meals.
