It’s my second night shift of the week, it feels like I’m still settling into a flow. but I do feel higher spirits than I did when I first did overnights a year ago.

I keep gently reminding myself that this is part of my work, and learning how to guide my body to sustain at unusual hours is important for hospital work. I don’t think I would ideally practice in a hospital setting but it’s still useful skill to have.

overall, I’m still just feeling incredibly grateful riding the wave of gratitude and hoping for an easy going August.

OOTD: Cozy and Comfy, Stay-At-Home Edition

After a long night shift, there’s no better remedy than slipping into my comfiest loungewear and cozying up at home. Today’s ensemble is a classic for a day like this: brown flared leggings paired with a light brown sweatshirt featuring ribbed hems that add a little texture to the look. I’m sitting at the front desk and have a great view of the park across the road. There’s a couple out walking their dog and they just laid down in the snow. It’s actually very cute. I think I saw them take pictures. I mean, it’s very picturesque. The trees are strung with white lights.

Now I wish I had someone to take pictures with in the snow.

@ USAmericans that are following me, if you (like me) get anxious you'll somehow have issues with a mail-in or drop-off ballot: I forgot that in a lot of places (here's a site to check!) early in-person voting is an option, so I figured maybe you did too!

Lines are MUCH shorter than election day,

which means it's quick and you have more time to look things up at the voting booth if necessary,

and you have a LOT more ability to find a time that works for you than if you just vote on Nov. 5th (which I would be have been almost completely unable to go out and vote on).

Early voting y'all it kicks ass. A quick google of "early voting (my city/county" immediately brought up the exact address, days and hours of where it was available. Will definitely patronize the fine folks at my local polling center again in four years assuming that. Things go well. And we still have a democracy in four years. OTL

I hate that they gave Sam a stupid reason for hating Halloween (he embarrassed himself at a Halloween party) when his initial reason for hating Halloween, that his life FUCKING SUCKED was a much better reason

Like he had an alcoholic father that was lost in his grief and who didn’t try to make anything special for him and his brother never mind the holiday that happens 2 DAYSSSS before the anniversary of his wife’s death

Like he says it himself. He doesn’t care about Christmas or Halloween. He never trick or treated. They had kfc for Christmas. His first experience of a family holiday was with someone else’s family. No one ever cut the crusts of his sandwiches!!!!

Like dean sees Halloween and horror movies and dressing up as escapism. Halloween was probably his fav for the opportunity to escape his life for a night and get free treats that he wouldn’t usually get.

Sam sees holidays as depressing reminders of how shitty his life is 💯

I think everyone should work a late shift at least once in their lives simply to romanticize the late night drive home on a dark empty road with the windows down while the graveyard shift DJ on the local radio station plays the most incredible and unusual music you've ever heard.
