Batfamily fics need to start including all the times the Batkids would absolutely bust their teeth on something.

Goon hit you wrong? Cracked tooth. Face planted on that last flip? That’s a knocked out tooth for sure. One bad kick across the face during a spar and you’re spitting blood on the mats with your front teeth shoved the wrong direction back into your gums.

Bruce avoids this by having no real teeth. The Batkids learn about the benefits of mouth guards via trial and error.

I once had a conversation with someone on here where I (history major at the time) was attempting to describe how I thought business majors spent their time, and I think I said something like “I think its just a bunch of people in suits shaking each others hands, smiling disingenuously, and saying ‘business’ back and forth at each other.”

some thoughts

1. my knee-jerk reaction was characters are not their actors so who cares let mav’s teeth be whatever you want

2. But engaging w/ this honestly i see a couple possibilities

3. possibility A is that yes mav has fucked crazy bigass teeth (see my post on ice calling him “Peter rabbit” for more on this)

4. possibility B is that part of trying to reinvent himself during their brief divorce era (post pulling rooster’s papers ca. 2002-2005) was getting adult braces and the like 4 times ice saw him during that period he was just so bewildered he didn’t think to comment on it at all

(can navy fighter pilots have braces?? i feel like it would immediately obviate any call sign you had and everyone regardless of rank would immediately start calling you “brace face” and that’s what they’d stencil on the side of your f-18 or w/e… Pete “brace face” Mitchell! honor is everything im not sure mav would tolerate that! you lose a LOT of social capital when you have braces as an adult unless you’re actually tom cruise! which mav is not!)

6. Possibility C mav got invisalign circa 2015 when it really started getting popular and had his retainers in during the TGM mission cause why not. that’s funny. you cannot lose a SINGLE day with Invisalign or it sets you back so much. even if you have a suicidal navy mission to drop bombs on a sovereign country ... still gotta wear your Invisalign dumbass

things I wish I could relive for the first time again:

that magical window where you finish a new piece of media, having watched/read it all by yourself with no fandom contact whatsoever, and you are just so happy about it, and full of interesting theories and takeaways, and just in love with it as a gorgeous piece of art.

because I swear to god as soon as you join the fandom for anything, you're bombarded with how you're supposed to view characters and their arcs, how you're supposed to morally and ethically judge the plot and the ways it apparently failed to present the right message, and if you don't you'll either be shunned for not sharing the popular headcanons or you'll be harassed for not criticizing the source material enough.

like how is it that the fans of a piece of media are also the ones being the most negative about it? If I like a show or a movie or a book, well, I liked it. That's kind of the point. I'm actually not here to tear it apart and talk about how it didn't live up to standards other people had! I enjoyed it for what it was, and forcing myself to find negative things to say about it doesn't actually bring me more enjoyment of it or reap any benefit to me. Fandom's a double-edged sword; you want to join a community to share your love for a piece of art, and the price you pay for a modicum of joy is a mountain of negativity. that's one main reason that I never engage with fandom until I'm completely done with a show, because if I was plugged into all of that commentary and discourse during the process, I'd be completely colored by how I'm expected to interpret everything this piece of art is presenting to me without being able to even form my own opinions.

im new to thinking about mpreg but your posting has me intrigued and now im enjoying Having Ideas! anyways a concept: for some plot contrived reason jack needs to go back in time and get born sooner (idk its the only way to stop chuck or an apocalypse without anyone dying or something). anyways jack briefly travels back in time or communicates via a dream/vision with either all of tfw or just cas. and tells them hi im your son from the future and i need to be born earlier to stop the world from ending. I can send my soul back in time but only if there’s a nephilim embryo for me to put it into. either he doesn’t clarify that he wasn’t originally their bio kid or he specifically asks for cas to be his bio angel parent this time. anyways there’s no way Dean is letting cas knock someone ELSE up when cas can just magic him a womb. so good news for cas he gets to put a baby in that man!!

this could take place at a couple different times but I think my preference is s6, bc dean being heavily pregnant during tmwwbk would amp up the drama in a fun way for me personally. and having a baby on the way would only make cas more determined to shield Dean from heaven war stuff AND keep him away from crowley… and also then jack can be born during s7 widower arc 1.0 which is a fun contrast with s13 widower arc :) i like the idea that instead of growing up instantly, jack is born a baby and then grows at an accelerated rate (like the half vampire baby from twilight). Mostly so that they have to haul a kids car seat with them through all the car switching in s7 and also the drama of having A Kid with them in general. But I could go either way on that part.

Basically, Dean is pregnant in s6, but is missing a good chunk of time, so he's not exactly sure like. WHOMST got him pregnant? News flash: it was totally future Castiel who, with Dean's and Jack's power, gets zapped back in time to have a sexy night with Dean before getting zoinked back to the future. But then when Jack is born there are Complications and Jack is growing up a little too slowly for Reasons and the Dean and Cas of that time don't know that he's a) Cas's kid or b) anything about the future shit. Add literally All Of That that happens to them between s6 to, well, s15 I guess, and everything Gets Worse.
