its an animated horror short in the works about a girl traveling to nigeria for her grandfather's funeral rite and ending up suspecting she's being followed by a real masquerade
from what I've seen of it so far, it's pretty cool
Oh, this looks very interesting, I would love to see the completed short

Mmanwu: An Animated African Horror Story
Four posts in one day?!
Found another reel on Instagram I wanted to share!
This is an African animated indie short film made by ZOMA Studios.
The artstyle looks very crisp and the concept of the film is very interesting. If you are looking forward to watching it, give it some support by clicking the Kickstarter link below the video!

This animation wasn't on my list of project but just because I love angst and drama, I animated it.
I was able to work a little lighting on it which I had never done before so I am quite proud of it. I still got more animations coming before the end of the year so stick around.

Wood hippopotamus mask (Utobo), 1930s Central Ijo. Nembe, Niger Delta, Nigeria
Cambridge Museum of archeology and Anthropology 2014.290 “This mask represents a hippo, utobo, submerged below the waterline. It would’ve been worn in the Owu masquerade. The powerful water spirits or Owu control animals and nature. It was worn by a male dancer on the top of his head, facing upwards, and was associated with the masquerade character called Nwere Utobo (Hippo's Wife), in the Rumuji Owu play.”
