although i am glad the show didn’t go with the book ending for silna (getting married and having kids with francis), the show ending is still so horrific in its own right. she’s exiled from her family/community, forced to carry the shame of not being able to communicate with tuunbaq & deal with the trauma from everything the expedition members put her through — and she is forced to deal with it all on her own. not only that, the crew of the erebus & the terror turned her homeland into a place of death & destruction. no matter where she goes, something will remind her of the pain she was put through.

went on a 3 day the terror season 1 (2018) bender

I only watched The Terror because I met Nive Neilson once and saw people have her autograph the book and I was look "ooh horror?"
I still can't really understand the show but I'm glad y'all are having fun with those scurvy boys.
