They tilted their head.

"Though it is odd seeing an Yveltal palling around with a Cobalion. If only because it makes me want to know why you two are the only ones here. I heard you mention your counterpart Xerneas--- Artemis, was it? What about your Zygarde? Oh! Or do you even have a counterpart Zygarde?"

Ha, I am indeed enjoying myself. I do not “hole myself up,” as you said, but I spend a lot of my time ferrying souls and spirits. It is nice to relax…

Ah, as for my universe’s Zygarde, there are multiple. I do believe that only one, the one mortals call “10%,” is considered my counterpart. Proteus is a busybody, they probably would’ve hated being cooped up here, he chuckles. I do think they could’ve attended if they wanted to, since they are merely the god of shapeshifting, but I digress. He pauses to think for a second. Assuming you meant the “complete” Zygarde, xey are way to busy to attend. As the god of order, it has much work to do… As for Artemis, he smiles, she is no socialite either. She despises parties and attention of most sorts. She originally had the invitation to this gala, but turned it down to spend more time with Sarah.

“A… a mew, I didn’t really expect one at the party.” Their breath quickened a bit in surprise, more shockingly he seemed genuinely… happy to see a mew despite her title of Mewtwo.

“How are you? Are you good?”

"Didn't expect a mew here?" Nid laughed. "I've seen quite a few, just out and about, though at least a few of us are dressed up as humans."

In a flash of psychic energy, they transform, hanging in the air by Enjirou.

"Though I could give or take either form, really."

The tip of their tail twitches and they stare, upside down, at Enjirou.

"Still a bit weird seeing some pokemon take human forms, though. Very few do in my world. If it weren't for your aura, I might not even realize you were a mewtwo!"

"The small talk is certainly nice, either way. I've been enjoying watching all the drama unfold. It's nice to be a neutral party and spectate for once, you know?"

The crystal shard on their earring glints. Is it the gala's warm lighting playing tricks, or do the markings on their body seem to move like slowly bubbling liquid?

"Usually if something interesting is happening I nose my way into it one way or another. Maybe not always to the best of all interested parties, so it's probably for the best I didn't cause trouble this time."

Reclining midair, they kick their feet above them, jacket unprofessionally struggling with the unorthodox position.

"The night is almost over, though, and with that, well... it'll be back to the Tree of Beginning with me, I guess."

Alaxia gently swirls the wine in his glass, face scrunching slightly at the rather unpleasant aroma of the wine.

He takes a sip regardless of his displeasure for it, it was there and he needed to drink it. Lest he waste it. His eyes glance across the room, making sure that Etoile was far away and out of earshot. Luckily, the mew had gone outside for the moment. Leaving Alaxia some peace and quiet to talk freely.

Alaxia takes another sip of wine, one ear flicking Alaxia: If your universe, HAS this phenomenon. From what I've gathered, not every universe seems to have it... Guess that makes me somewhat of a rarity~ Alaxia laughs a bit Alaxia: A glitch in the system you could call it. I'm not a good thing, not by any means. I am a mistake.

Alaxia's tail swishes and wraps slightly around his ankles as he leans against the table, eyes flickering between his wine glass and Nid Alaxia: I've done my fair amount of research into it, I wasn't... always.. aware of what I am. I had to figure it out... myself... via my own destructive nature.. Alaxia frowns for a moment, his eyes flicker as if reliving a bad memory. He quickly flashes a smile back to Nid Alaxia: But don't worry. I wont hurt anyone here, nor do I plan to. I've gotten quite good at being able to... contain myself. Just because I was dragged here against my will, doesn't mean I will start contaminating everything with my mess. Alaxia raises a brow, smiling slightly as he takes another sip of wine Alaxia: Although, my Company is not aware of what I really am... I trust that you wont tell them. Wouldn't want to ruin a nice evening with such unpleasantness...

Alaxia waves a hand in the air a bit as if to ward off what he was talking about Alaxia: But I'm just prattling on at this point, no need for my entire life story. I may be a glitch but that doesn't mean my manners should suffer as well. Alaxia: What about YOU? What brings you to a place like this? You seem like a rather powerful mew, do you party often? (@the-third-shadow ) Nid @ Destino: "My, my, look at the kid causing quite the ruckus! Spice of the party!"

They popped a poffin into their mouth, swaying with near-palpable mischief before transforming to mirror Destino.

"Now here I thought Absol like yourself were adept at sniffing out sketchy situations. I do dig the shades though. Good eye for accessories, there." They push their transformed sunglasses up, chuckling. "I've been hearing you have history with the host's daughter, and not the good kind. Aaand, see, well..."

They transform back to their gala outfit, mew-like tux jacket in need of a quick straightening. Their hair, tied up as it is, sways a bit like a bemused tail.

"I don't know about you, but I'm enjoying the free food. Any chance you can use your clairvoyance to avoid crashing the whole thing while stirring the pot? Or... you seem to be a mix of another mon too. Are you even able to sense impending calamity?"

Destino: Maybe a disaster will happen here. Maybe one won’t happen. I won’t tell.

*Destino looked behind you, glancing towards Felix’s general direction. Seems he was talking to that Reshi woman. Wait... Did they just hear Felix compliment her? Was he trying to flirt? How hilarious.

That same feeling from before came back, much worse. Did Destino hate the idea of Felix flirting with someone else? Why on earth would Destino hate that? They should be rooting for their buddy for finding someone he wanted to be with, not hating every second of it. Destino was confused. Seriously confused. Perhaps, they began to rationalise, it was because they had antagonised this woman before? Maybe. That was the only possible explanation. Besides, that woman was no good for Felix. Felix was far too handsome for her.

Handsome?????? Destino shook their head. This gala was messing with them. Sure, Felix looked really good in the suit Destino had one of their tailors make for him, but handsome? That was a new one. They had to stop this from happening. Destino would need a drink after dealing with Felix. It was probably starting to look weird how long Destino was looking at him rather than engaging in the conversation. They had to use an excuse to get to him.*

Destino: Spoke too soon. Seems like the only disaster happening at this moment is my buddy trying to flirt. Look at him. He's in shambles. I don't think he's ever tried to flirt with anyone before. I should go over before he embarrasses himself any further. I almost feel bad for him.

It’s such a shame to have to say goodbye to someone who was working alongside me on NID for nearly a whole year. But, changes come and go - as we’ve seen on this blog over the near two years I’ve been running it. (Don’t fret, fans! I’ve been making icon sets that eventually lead to this blog for over two years now, I’m not going anywhere.) Remember, Rotom Mod and Mew Mod are both here to make your icon desires a reality! It might just take us a wee while given how things are transpiring and with things going on IRL. Sit back to hear more in the future from both of us. I love sci fi: And the similarities between the sci-fi backstories of mystery and the conspiracy of Megaman X/Zero, Shadow the Hedgehog's creation and Maria's role, and Mew/Mewtwo.

Zero, Shadow the hedgehog, and Mewtwo have more in common than we think!

1) Reluctant hero/rivals; partners up with the main hero of the story (Megaman X, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mew)

2) Perceived to be dark, edgy, reclusive

3) Have amnesia and trying to regain their memories

4) Notable quotes

Zero from Megaman Zero: "I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!"

Shadow the hedgehog from Sonic Adventure 2 before he died; and falling to Earth in his fading super form after defeating FInal Hazard: "Maria- this is what you wanted, right? This is my promise I made to you...." 

Mewtwo from the Pokemon: The 1st Movie in 1999: I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

5) Both trying to understand their rightful place in the world, essentially being clones of the original

Zero was built in the image of Megaman X, the “father of all reploids” by Dr. Wily (Dr. Light’s former colleague, now rival). Originally created with a malignant virus which transferred to Sigma in their X4 battle while he was first awakened, Zero now fights alongside Megaman X to stop Sigma, and then all the Maverick Wars ensue

Shadow the hedgehog was created by Gerald Robotnik (grandfather of Dr. Robotnik)

                     i. Gerald probably went to Earth to do research/collect information                      for the creation of his “ultimate lifeform”, purpose to cure NIDS                            (aka space AIDS) for his beloved grand-daughter, Maria Robotnik.

                      ii. He probably saw the echidna ruins and the prophecy inside                             Hidden Palace Zone where there was a super powered hedgehog                       defeating a monster of chaos.

                      iii. Which is why Gerald probably created Shadow in the image of                       a hedgehog and imbued him with the power to use chaos                                   emeralds (makes more sense than him going from the biolizard                           prototype to a hedgehog), but this is a whole other story.

Mewtwo was a clone of Mew, created as a superpowered tool for the war in the Kanto region during generation 1 (that’s another conspiracy)

6) They once loved, but now closed off their hearts after having a close loved one die, which scarred them permanently.

Zero had to kill Iris in X4. While the nature of their relationship is still in question and whether he could even feel love (Dr. Wily probably wouldn’t give him those abilities; why would a warbot need it?), it is clear that Zero cared for her deeply and her death had him in agony (WHAT AM I FIGHTING FORRRRRRRRRR? That’s probably the most emotional expression Zero has EVER had. Seriously.)

In Space Colony ARK, Maria was shot by GUN (the government in the Sonic universe) by helping Shadow escape in an escape pod that hurtled him to Earth. He keeps having memories that haunt him…..

While Mewtwo was in stasis during his creation, he interacted with other pokemon (Bulbasaurtwo, Charmandertwo, Squirtletwo) and a human girl named Amber. They shared fond moments together, flying through the periwinkle sky, and learning about life together. But all of that changed when the clone of Amber started disappearing…..

d. Imma go off on a tangent about Mewtwo’s creation (from Bulbapedia):

i. After his daughter Amber died, Dr. Fuji devoted his life to trying to bring her back through the usage of cloning. His wife was distraught and could not continue watching his endeavors, insisting that he could not bring Amber back to life. She left him, yet Fuji still worked.

ii. Eventually, his studies gained the attention of Giovanni, who said he would fund Fuji's project if Fuji also cloned Mew. This resulted in the creation of Mewtwo.

iii. After the original Charmandertwo, Bulbasaurtwo, and Squirtletwo died during the experiment, Ambertwo—the cloned form of Amber—died as well, eliciting a heightened emotional response from Mewtwo. Dr. Fuji panicked and administered a form of emotion-suppressing serum to Mewtwo, which may have caused its seemingly-twisted personality.

iv. Time passed and Mewtwo matured, though shortly after gaining consciousness, it destroyed the lab on New Island, presumably killing everyone—including Fuji

Levidromes

A levidrome is a word that when spelled backwards makes another word. Well, at least not yet. It is not in the Oxford English Dictionary. Levi Budd is a six-year-old boy from British Columbia in Canada who has coined the term 'levidrome' after spotting that the word 'STOP' spells 'POTS' backwards. After realising that there is no such word in English for this phenomena, a social media campaign has started to get this word in popular usage (hence this post). I wrote a short Python script this morning that will pull all of the levidromes from a dictionary file. The full list is copied below.

It is interesting to note that some levidromes are also palindromes. I wonder whether we need a new word to describe this phenomenon also?  Furthermore, there is no word in English for "a word that you make up in order to make another word make sense". I suggest: "emordivel" ?

"Huh?" Nid took a long moment, trying to process all of what Destino had just said to them.

What were they talking about?

It... also took them a moment to realize this was the same snappy sap that had wised off to Nid before promptly getting sacked by their plus one. Without their sunglasses, they almost didn't recognize them.

But as to what they were saying?

The ramblings of Destino, regardless of any accuracy to their own world, crinkled worry into Nid's face.

First: obviously drunk. Was there a way to fix that? Nid had no clue.

Second: the absol wore clothes? Like when they were a quadrupedal pokemon? What kind of monsters put clothes on Pokemon? WAS THAT NORMAL???

And third, most important of all: what gave off the impression Nid was indecisive? THEM?

They awkwardly cleared their throat after Destino finished speaking.

"Well, uh, you see..."

Hmm. How to put this...

"I'm technically not wearing clothes. The outfit you see me wearing is a psychic projection."

Color rippled throughout their jacket illustratively. Light pink and blue shifted first to black, then to purple, then a deep maroon.

"Part of my transformation, the same as, say, the skirt of a Gardevoir is part of their body. Did you really think I would go out and buy such an outfit when psychic energy would suffice?"

Letting the colors return to their twin favorites, Nid wiggled their fingers.

"Besides that, black's not really my color. I like my mew coloration much more, especially in safe company like this. You want some multicolored clothes?" they asked, a hint of an awkward laugh.

Almost under their breath, they added, "er, and a nice cold bucket of water for the drink?"

"What gave it away?" they chuckled, wolfing down a poffin. "Yep, I'm a mew alright! I think just about everyone here is from a different world with its own creator. Mine, though...?"

"We have an... interesting relationship, you could say. It is an Arceus, by technicality. Certainly not the kind that hosts a party like this and macks on their significant other the whole time."

They couldn't help their mischievous giggle. No judgment about Abaddon and Narcissa made audible, but certainly some amusement.

"Meanwhile every time I see mine, it seems to look a little different. Acts different, too." Gesturing out to the rest of the dining hall, Nid continued, "It decided I needed to come to this gala after telling me for the last hundred years I wasn't allowed to leave Kanto, after all."

Nid grabbed another poffin, pulling a sprinkle off.

"That said, to say I know it, or that anyone really does, would be like... well... Take this sprinkle. This isn't the whole poffin, is it? But if you only ever saw mangled sprinkles, and they called themselves 'poffins,' you would think that's what you were looking at."

They pop the illustrating grain of sugar in their mouth.

"I at least understand a little bit better than most that, in my universe, what most people call 'Arceus' is closer to a sprinkle than the whole poffin. We're similar like that."

The mystery mew was happy to listen to Millie ramble on. Her excitement was infectious--- though few children did not have such effect on them.

"Karp filet? I'll have to try it! It does look quite good!" They chuckled. "Though I've been eating my weight in poffins, cracker sandwiches, and anything sweet they've made the mistake of putting out, hehehe~..."

"It's nice to meet you, Millie! My name is Nid. And don't worry too much about being loud, if you ask me. If anyone gives you trouble for being too loud, then I think they don't know what a party is for!"

(Then again, maybe Nid doesn't either, considering this is a gala.)

They had been enjoying a nice catnap when the visage of the Original One interrupted their rest. A mon of few words, fewer to most who could not comprehend its garbled speech.

Still, they understood it perfectly.

Unfortunately.

Why now of all times did it extend its leash on them, after so long tethered to this place? Why taunt them with the grain of freedom when they spent so long yearning for the whole field?

If it had any comment on their scorn, it never made it known. The Original One was mystery even to them, its first creation.

A gala, Mount Coronet, another dimension.

They woke and transformed into suitable attire.

[??? has arrived at the Gala. Since their nap was interrupted... well, may as well eat some good food in the Dining Hall for now.]

"Ah!! You're too kind! You look lovely yourself! Pink and blue are never a bad combination if you ask me!" They smiled back, glowing with the compliment. And Mu said my disguise was bad! Hah! "Though I gotta say, the gold really adds a pop to yours!

"But my energy, you say...?"

"Hihihi, of course it would be unlike anything you've seen! I'm unlike anything I've seen!" They giggled a bit. "Joking, of course. I know plenty of mews exist across the vast cosmos of the multiverse. Mews for miles! If I were a bit younger, I might be raring to go seeing so many others--- I'm infamously territorial!"

"As for my world, well, things have changed some in the last 100 years but I am not one of them. I was the first creation of my maker--- an Arceus, you might recognize them as."

Their tone gets a little more somber, some joviality leaving them.

"Until very, very recently, I was the only thing that could sculpt and grant true life. I form the aura of all beings, define what you might call a 'soul.' You could call me aura itself, I suppose."

Looking aside at some of the other guests, that expression sours into awkward reticence.

"Truth be told, outside of this gala I'm not allowed to leave the Kanto region at all. Probably for the best, as even then I got into quite the spat with a..."

What was the best way to refer to him? Hmm.

"Some humans tried and failed to clone me."

"Hm?" Nid hesitated at the question. "Yeah, you did. It's just a fresh memory, that's all. Not many Lucario in my world are trained well enough with aura to achieve telepathy. Your aura reminded me of his, even if you're not speaking to me the same way as he did."

They sighed.

"As for what he was like... It was a whole fiasco at the Tree of Beginning. Boredom let me get ahead of myself, and I had been enjoying the company of some humans and their Pokemon."

Nid puts a hand to their earring. A fond, albeit sad, smile crosses their face.

"But one of those awful... wonderful idiots got too curious about just how that place could sustain such ancient and diverse Pokemon. I didn't realize until too late that my immune system had mistaken curiosity for hostility, and..."

"And... I couldn't bear to see them in such pain over such preventable losses. The Pokemon that had come to visit knew me, after all. The Lucario, from centuries ago when his mentor prayed of me to end the Cameron War."

Their voice is softer than it's been all night, sincere and somber.

"...And the Pikachu... had seen me at my worst. This was the second time I had nearly killed a naive boy just out to make adventure in the world. I believe his name is Ash Ketchum."

"But I overdid it in my zeal to ensure their human companions were alright. A body is one thing to lose--- even my most precious first one. The humans I had saved were so kind, though... and that Lucario, too, he---"

They hesitate, taking a sharp breath and looking aside.

"Mortal Pokemon are so quick to do away with their lives if they know it is to save a thousand more."
