Hi,
I make period drama style gifs. If you use gif packs, please like and reblog them. Most of my projects are already ready, but every day I post no more than 190 gifs. Because that was the reason why my previous account was blocked.
I tried to make gif packs in a format more familiar to you with a link to a separate page. However, unfortunately, I did not succeed because of the large format of high-quality gifs.
I want to explain about color processing. Usually, I improve the contrast, brightness and saturation, but leave the naturalness of the film. I don't make the contours too sharp because I like the aesthetic of it looking like a natural image.

The night is young, and he knows it’s only the beginning as he watches her through the thick of the crowd. Theo is certain she hasn’t spotted him just yet - despite the weight of his stare that she undoubtedly feels prickle the back of her neck, spiders legs tickling and leaving a trail of goosebumps into the thick of her hair. There’s a sheen of sweat that has the lights glistening in a scintillation of color in the curve of her collarbones, and he wonders if her friends know she’ll defect from the dancefloor for a drink soon enough.
Fingers click away at the keypad of his phone screen, watching as photographs of her and her friends, her family, cascade through a timeline of the last six months. She’s somewhat estranged from her siblings, neither choosing the life path the rest had, nor condoning the choices they’ve made. It makes her interesting, but somewhat predictable and he’s counted on it over time. Peering through a lens that might put him within her path, even if she’s never really noticed it before. It’s the seed that matters - a familiar face, or voice, that feels normal and comforting. Like she’s heard it a million times away.
Sitting a few tables away at her favorite restaurant. Dropping off a book to the same library. Their trolleys colliding by accident in the isle of her local store.
He’s pieced it together in the same way all those artists of paintings he never understood in his studies might have. A flicker of light here, depth and texture where it’s least expected, and suddenly he realizes what it’s like to be an artist. To manipulate and alter the perception of another to get the response he wants.
Still, it’s only the beginning, and he isn’t foolish enough to believe that he had what he wanted within arms reach just yet. There’s still too many factors, too many choices she has to make that might derail the plan he’s set with steel in his mind. Contingencies are the greatest failsafe, between Nicolas and Aurelie, he’d come to learn as much at an early age. One didn’t ever plan to lose everyone they considered to be family, and yet it happened - a preparation that Theo had been rather guilty in making for himself well before the time came. It held his heart together when it should have fallen to pieces. Would she know how to do so? Would someone else be there for her, or would she face the world from a lonely window? He knows that one day she’ll wish she’d thought about it more, planned for the day it happened. Then again, he supposes that it’s already too late for her now. Too late, as she orders another vodka soda, extra lime. Too late, as his hand reaches over the bar beside her, asking the bartender to put it on his tab. She doesn’t know it yet, but her whole life is about to change. He intends to make it so. Yvonne Rutherford is about to meet the love of her life. And Johnathan Parsons is going to regret letting him live.

Going back to writing about movies, even if it is in such a form, is really important to me. They used to inspire me, give me strength and cheer me up no matter what was happenign around me. It has become increasingly difficult due to various reasons, but I’ve been trying to get back into it for a couple of months now. January was pretty solid when it comes to movies, which gives me hope to keep going. I saw a couple of truly great movies and I’m choosing to hold on to that. 1. Favourite movies: Badlands (1973); Kimi no suizô o tabetai (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas) (2018). 2. Decent movies I liked / appreciated but not loved: Ben-Hur (1959); The Mating of Millie (1948); Bullet Train (2022); The Web (1947); The Goonies (1985); Raising Arizona (1987). 3. Best wtf movie/ending: Videodrome (1983). 4. Best scenes: fight scenes on the train (Bullet Train, 2022); the police chase in Badlands (1973); the fight between the rival programmes (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, 2004); Ol' Man River (Show Boat, 1936); robbing the store and running away from the police (Raising Arizona, 1987); reading the diary / watching the fireworks / playing truth or dare (Kimi no suizô o tabetai, 2018); speaking Spanish to the new maid (The Goonies, 1985); ‘Snap out of it!’ (Moonstruck, 1987). 5. Favourite genres: anime, comedy, musical, adventure, romance, action, thriller, film-noir, crime, mystery 6. Favourite directors: Terrence Malick (Badlands, 1973) is the best this month for me. The movie balances being absolutely terrifying but also meditative and reflective as well as can be done, in my opinion. William Wyler's Ben-Hur (1959) is a monumental achievement in filmmaking; David Leitch's Bullet Train (2022) is an energetic and refreshing take on a familiar story that seems to surprisingly be pulling no punches. Michael Gordon's The Web (1947) is exactly the type of noir I like: romantic, sharp, with well-written but not overly complex characters and a well-established rivalry between the good guy and the bad guy. Richard Donner's The Goonies (1985) brought me straight back to childhood, when the world was a beautiful and curious place, friendships were for life, adventures were exciting (and scary as well!) and anything could happen. I miss movies like this so much! Shin'ichirô Ushijima's Kimi no suizô o tabetai (2018) shattered my heart into a million pieces (as intended) showing that you can always find beauty in the world if you're willing to look close and be brave. The Cohen brothers' Raising Arizona (1987) was just such a blast to watch! It's wacky and crazy and also surprisingly heartfelt with a strong central message. That's the biggest surprise of the month for me for sure. Nic Cage rocks in this film! Henry Levin's The Mating of Millie (1948) was pure joy! It was the first truly joyful movie experience of the year for me and even though it wasn't really all that special, it was cute, funny, well-written, well-acted and amusing. Bruno VeSota's Dementia (1955) was the last movie I watched in January and unexpectadly it scared me quite a bit. The editing, the acting and the music create a very unsettling atmosphere of the world you would in all consciousness rather avoid. It's a disturbing film if i ever saw one, no wonder it was banned for a while upon its initial release. Strong Twilight Zone vibes. 7. Favourite actors: there are soooooo many this time around, but I am determined to mention at least most of them here. Disclaimer, I may not love every film mentioned (like Anchorman, Brighton Rock or Angel Heart), but individual performances have nothing to do with it. Most actors knocked it out of the park!
Charlton Heston (Ben-Hur, 1959); Margaret Rutherford (Murder at the Gallop, 1963); Ella Raines, Edmond O'Brien, Vincent Price (The Web, 1947); Richard Attenborough (Brighton Rock, 1947); Martin Sheen (Badlands, 1973); Fred MacMurray (The Gilded Lily, 1935); Paul Robeson (Show Boat, 1936); Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter (Rasing Arizona,1987); Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro (Angel Heart, 1987); Judy Garland, John Hodiak, Angela Lansbury (The Harvey Girls, 1946); Errol Flynn (Gentleman Jim, 1942); Adrienne Barrett (Dementia, 1955); Glenn Ford, Evelyn Keyes (The Mating of Millie, 1948); Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train, 2022); Matthew McCounaughey, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen, 2019); Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Pryce (Glengarry Glen Ross, 1992); Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman (The Goonies, 1985); Richard Widmark (Night and the City, 1950); Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy; 2004). There are also too many cameos to count in this movie, they were fantastic!
Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) has the best cast I've seen in years, and they are all at the very top of their game! Charlton Heston is simply iconic, Margaret Rutherford is absolutely delightful as Miss Marple even when the script lets her down. Vincent Price has his first taste of playing a bad guy, and looking at the character actor he becomes in the future, he liked it quite a lot. Richard Attenborough's performance has a lot in common with the likes of Scarface and Little Caesar. Menacing. Martin Sheen gave a star-making performance so energized it could power up the sun! It's almost impossible to believe that The Gilded Lily is Fred MacMurray's first massive film, he looks and sounds way too confident for that, like he is an established actor. Makes perfect sense why the roles just kept pouring in for him after this movie. Nicolas Cage finally made me realise why he was considered as one of the top actors of his time. A great, slightly unhinged, but at the same time touching performance. This is what happens when you go for crazy but also know when to rein it in. I liked Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro and Errol Flynn's performances even though I did not like the films they were a part of. But the best has to go to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, he absolutely stole EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. in Bullet Train, he was glorious! The swagger, the attitude, the style, the one-liners. Old-school, masculine and cool. It is just so attractive. 8. Least favourite performances: Joey King (Bullet Train, 2022). It may be the character rather than the actress (I know she worked hard and it pains me to write about her here), but I really disliked her in the film. I don't seem to be a fan of either W.C. Fields (Million Dollar Legs, 1932) or the Marx brothers (Animal Crackers, 1930). Oh, well. Everyone elese did a terrific job. 9. The most wasted cast: nothinig in particular really. I love the pairings of Norma Shearer and Robert Montgomery in Private Lives (1931); Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray and Ray Milland in The Gilded Lily (1935) as well as Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro in Angel Heart (1987), but the films... I wish the films were better. 10. The best wasted premise: Angel Heart (1987). 11. Best premise: Bullet Train (2022); The Goonies (1985); Raising Arizona (1987); Monster Squad (1987). 12. Favourite cast: The Gentlemen (2019). Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Eddie Marsan, Tom Wu, Bugzy Malone. 13. Favourite on-screen duos: Judy Garland x John Hodiak (The Harvey Girls, 1946); Emma Roberts x Luke Bracey (Holidate, 2020); Glenn Ford x Evelyn Keyes (The Mating of Millie, 1948); Aaron Taylor-Johnson x Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train, 2022); Margaret Rutherford x Stringer Davis (Murder at the Gallop, 1963); Charlie Hunnam x Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen, 2019); anyone in Glengarry Glen Ross (1992); Martin Sheen x Sissy Spacek (Badlands, 1973); Claudette Colbert x Fred MacMurray; Claudette Colbert x Ray Milland (The Gilded Lily, 1935); Nicolas Cage x Holly Hunter (Raising Arizona, 1987); Edmond O'Brien x William Bendix; Edmond O'Brien x Vincent Price (The Web, 1947). 14. Favourite on-screen relationships: Boku + Yamauchi Sakura (Kimi no suizô o tabetai, 2018); Michael + Rosalind Pearson (The Gentlemen, 2019); Noel Faraday + Bob Regan (The Web, 1947); Doug Andrews + Millie McGonigle (The Mating of Millie, 1948); H.I. McDunnough + Ed (Raising Arizona, 1987). 15. Favourite characters: Judah Ben-Hur (Ben-Hur, 1959); Boku, Yamauchi Sakura (Kimi no suizô o tabetai, 2018); Michael Pearson, Coach, Fletcher (The Gentlemen, 2019); Noel Faraday, Bob Regan (The Web, 1947); Doug Andrews, Millie McGonigle (The Mating of Millie, 1948); Ladybug, Tangerine, Lemon (Bullet Train, 2022); Miss Marple (Murder at the Gallop, 1963); Bob Regan, Andrew Colby (The Web, 1947); Ronny Cammareri, Loretta Castorini (Moonstruck, 1987); Ricky Roma, Shelley Levene, Dave Moss (Glengarry Glen Ross, 1992); Pinkie Brown (Brighton Rock, 1947); Mickey, Brand, Mouth (The Goonies, 1985); Kit (Badlands, 1973); Ron Burgundy (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, 2004); H.I. McDunnough, Ed (Raising Arizona, 1987). 15. Favourite quote: nothing springs to mind, unfortunately... 16. Favourite fact discovered in 2023: that Nicolas Cage is actually a pretty great actor? Oh, never mind... On a serious note, Ida Lupino was married to Louis Hayward when they played aunt and nephew (huuuuuuuh?) in Ladies in Retirement in 1941. 17. The most overrated film: Animal Crackers (1930). The Marx brothers' whole body of work seems to be a constant hit or miss with me. Angel Heart (1987). It was so paaaaaaaaaaainfully predictable where the film was going that at one point I genuinely thought the film was punishing me for having a brain. 18. The most disappointing film: Angel Heart (1987). Again! Some aspects of the style really work and create this dark, dangerous atmosphere... and then the story ruins it all. 19. The biggest surprise: Raising Arizona (1987)! Superbly delightful. 20. Best cinematography: Tak Fujimoto, Stevan Larner and Brian Probyn for Badlands (1973). Also, Robert Surtees for Ben-Hur (1959) and Mayuko Koike for Kimi no suizô o tabetai (2018). 21. Best set design: Hugh Hunt for Ben-Hur (1959). Also various set designers, production designers and assistants on The Goonies (1985). 22. Best costume design: Jean Louis (The Mating of Millie, 1948); Sarah Evelyn (Bullet Train, 2022); Yvonne Wood (The Web, 1947); Rosanna Norton (Badlands, 1973); Richard Hornung (Raising Arizona, 1987). 23. Best music: Hiroko Sebu for Kimi no suizô o tabetai (2018). 24. Best prooduction choice: casting Nicolas Cage in Raising Arizona (1987). 25. Worst production choice: not focusing on black characters more in Show Boat (1936). 26. Film of the month: Badlands (1973). Kimi no suizô o tabetai (2018) is a close second, shile Raising Arizona (1987) is #3.

COLOUR VARIATIONS IN THE CONFIDANTE COSTUME
ROW 1: Orange/pink. The possibly rarest shade. Maybe even just one dress showing this; that worn by Jeanne Marie Nigl in Stuttgart. The other in this photoset is from Hiroshima, but as seen in the next row it might be pink.
ROW 2: Pink. Very common in the US, not so much elsewhere. Usually quite patterned dresses as well. Here's some of the less patterned and more obviously pink versions, as worn by Kitty Heaton on Broadway and an unidentified actress from the US Tour. Last photo shows a backstage photo of a newer Japanese dress.
ROW 3: Purplish gold. A more ombiguous shade, which can change the look quite a bit from backstage to stage lamps. Seen here is Mel Gowie in West End, unidentified actress from the South Korean revival, and Paige Tuddenham from either Toronto or the Canadian Tour.
ROW 4: Purple. Sometimes it's difficult to separate between purple and more patterned blue dresses, as these too tend to change colour quite a bit on stage. But here is two from West End (unidentified actresses), and one on display in Vienna.
ROW 5: Very blue. The very blue dresses seems to be a recent trend. Here's a fairly new one from the costume maker in the US, a similar US dress worn by Jennifer West in the World Tour revival, and an unidentified actress from the West End revival.
ROW 6: Sky / pale blue. The most common shade. It's what was seen in the original West End production (left), plus to examples from Hamburg, worn by Stephanie Watt and Tanja Petrasek.
ROW 7: Sky / pale blue. More of the same, as worn by an unidentified actress (Lisa Dyby Waddingham?) from early West End days, as well as Eline de Jong in Oberhausen, and Nicola Rutherford in West End.
ROW 8: Metallic green / yellow / undetermined. Some dresses are a bit hard to pinpoint, because they are made of a metallic fabric and it may act up under stage lamps. But here is a greyish/blue/gold dress from the original Stockholm production, a golden dress from the Mexican / Spanish / original Brazilian production, as well as a mint / blue one from the Copenhagen revival. Alas I don't have the name for either actresses.

Audition Piece || self para
The heavy sigh fell on deaf ears as the Commandant leaned against the bar. His back bearing the weight of everything that was on his mind. It had been months since Aurélie’s death. And while one day passed after the other the French loyalists could not help from analyzing the day from every angle – as if there would have been anything he could have done to undo the devastating loss to the St. Clair organization.
Théo’s callous hands wrapped around the glass of golden liquor bringing it to his lips before downing it. Before him a head was slumped over. A blood stained ragged pulled tightly across the man’s crimson stained lips. A pool of blood formed a puddle on the plastic on the ground. This wasn’t about getting information, this was about taking from them one brick at a time.
Abruptly the glass left his grasp as he sent it soaring across the room with such force that it crashed against the wall. A dry laugh left his lips as the man jolted against the wooden chair.
“Are you joking?” The frenchman asked as he pushed himself off the bar and started towards the chair. His brow furrowed in mock frustration as he forced the man to look up at him.“You’re turning into a sniveling little bitch. Just when I thought we were having a good time.”
Maybe something in him had snapped a bit – losing Aurélie had felt like losing his sister. It was like losing Nicolas all over again. All of this stemmed from one source - The Russians may have taken Aurélie’s life but it was the Rutherfords who had brought them here.
“I’m going to leave you with a little bit of wisdom,” His voice was calm as his eyes narrowed on the man sitting before him. A hand reached into his waistband before taking a step back the barrel of the silencer pressed against the man's head. “It only takes one.”

This era saw the discovery of several elements such as radium, polonium, and radon by prominent scientists such as Marie Curie and Ernest Rutherford. Astatine was one of the…
