redesigned my shiny ocs to have the shiny colour schemes of both sides of their lineage (so clover more muted colours like shiny nickit and mara has bright pinks and purples like shiny mienshao). also made apollo shiny because he's cunty like that.

Sooo... I did a thing. Here's the list of Pokémon I think would fit the td reboot cast. Choices are based on either esthetic, personality, certain characteristics or a mix of everything. I'm planning on doing the other casts as well, btw.

Axel: Scizor - I thought about an "axe" Pokémon, and the only thing that came to mind was Kleavor, but since I didn't want to give her a Pokémon from 200 years ago (no, I don't count the fact that you can have it on SV), I thought about the closest thing to it, and that was Scizor, which is still pretty fitting, if you ask me.

Bowie: Meowscarada - I decided to have Bowie and Priya foil each other. I haven't played SV, but from the Pokédex entries I've read, it seems like Meowscarada uses deceit to hit it's enemies. Plus, I think Dark type fits Bowie pretty well, and it also has his color palette (green and purple, though in reverse quantity).

Caleb: Dragonair - At first I wanted to go for a pink Pokémon since it's his main color, but I already headcanoned Milotic with Alejandro, so I went with the next closest thing. Plus, if in season 2 his own description ends up being true (strong and kind) Dragonite could be pretty fitting too.

Chase: Impidimp - A reddish little trickster gremlin who likes to cause chaos. I don't think I need to explain more.

Damien: Kecleon - Decided to go with his "biology nerd" side. A Kecleon seems like a species he would be really interested in, while also being a not-too-strong Pokémon.

Emma: Morpeko - I couldn't help thinking about the "Bad Emma" during the pole challenge. Plus, an overall cute Pokémon who gets angry because of a specific reason seems pretty on point.

Julia: Zweilous - Two-faced Dark type Pokémon, violent and strong. The colors are actually the opposite of hers (white, yellow and light blue vs black, blue and red). She probably wouldn't use it too often, but it does fit.

Millie: Gothita - I started thinking Psychic types would fit her well, so I started looking into it, and Gothita's Dex description is funnily on point. Observes other Pokémon and Humans to watch things only it seems to see (self-explanatory), and it apparently talks alone (which could represente her notebook).

MK: Nickit - Didn't know whether to go with the technology side or the thieving side, but in the end I chose the more obvious one.

Nichelle: Mime Jr. - A pink little Fairy, who becomes a full fledged performer (both as Mr. Mime and Mr. Rime), is the closest thing to an actor I could think about for her.

Priya: Quaquaval - Foiling Bowie, a Fighting type fitting of her, with her same blue palette and oriental elements in the design. Meowscarada and Quaquaval also have a weakness and a resistance to each other. Also a callback to when she acted as a bird to save Millie from the cassowary.

Raj: Alolan Vulpix - Ice type who become a Fairy type, the more trickster type (he was the one who came up with the idea to stop the raptor). Funnily enough both Ice and Fairy are super effective against Bowie's Meowscarada.

Ripper: Stunky - Do I really need to explain this? At some point he even does the same pose.

Scary Girl: Mimikyu - I could have gone with any Ghost type, but I thought about when Zee said she dressed like a doll, so I decided it was either Mimikyu or Banette.

Wayne: Alolan Sandshrew - Ice type who's also a Steel type, more strong willed and super effective against Raj's fairy (the leader and more competitive).

Zee: Slowpoke - I thought Water types fit Zee pretty well, and Slowpoke is probably the laxest and dumbest Pokémon I could have chosen. Psyduck was also an option at some point, but Golduck was too cool-looking for him.

Teehee. It's Pokemon Sword, for context.

Mike rn is Drizzile but when he evolves he's gonna be Inteleon, and honestly that dude is lanky as hell and depressed, so it was a perfect fit.

Eddie is Corvisquire / will be Corviknight for obvious reasons.

Robin is Nickit. It was kinda difficult to choose one that fit for Robin but I like her as a fox.

Nancy is Purrloin / Liepard because cat + purple & yellow colouring is so Nancy.

Steve is Yamper cos to me he's a dog person.

Pidove is Lucas because when he evolves it's gonna look like he has a lil bandana

Erica is Bounsweet but let's be real she's actually Ponyta. It's just not in Sword.

Joyce is Vulpix for vibes. They have the same bangs.

Those are all the ones I have but I will say when I get an Eevee Jolteon is gonna be werewolf!Nancy. It's just so spiky and that's always what wolf Nancy looks like in my head. Also Max is gonna be Growlithe.

Bonus Features:

A few of them actually have shiny pokemon, specifically Locke's Nickit, Leo's Sirfetch'd, Rachel's Vaporeon, and Edgar's Glaceon.

People ask Edgar very frequently why he chose Glaceon, to which he explains that it's very hot in the desert and Glaceon can make it snow. The snow can be melted into water and he's managed to figure out a way to use the cold air generated to design some sort of air conditioning system for the castle and a cold food storage container.

Locke's Nickit is an expert at being adorable and distracting and is able to squeeze into small openings to unlock doors when he's uhh... treasure hunting. It also refuses to sit in a pokéball most of the time, but that doesn't bother him. Nickit knows when it needs to go hang out in its ball though and will do so on its own.

Locke looked all over for a shiny eevee to give to Rachel and was so proud of himself when he finally found one, and Vaporeon actually did remember him after her head injury but wasn't able to speak so it couldn't clear up the confusion.

Locke is trying to find Ho-Oh because of the legend that it resurrected three pokemon into Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. Ho-Oh is only able to resurrect Rachel temporarily but they have the same conversation they do in canon and Locke gets some closure.

Daryl's Talonflame survived the crash of the Falcon and Setzer did take its pokéball. He didn't think it would be fair to leave it in the tomb with the restored airship, but he also struggles with the idea of actually using her partner for battle, so Talonflame's ball stays tucked away in his coat.

Edit: I didn't want to put too many shinies in here bc they're supposed to be rare but heck it Setzer has a purple accented meowscarada and Terra has a pink espurr

What Pokémon do you think other eoa characters would start out with like Esteban, Victor, Carla, Isa, Ash, etc

I like the idea of Isa with something like Klink or Magnemite -- something mechanical to help her with her inventions. The former could help her actually operate her contraptions and the latter could help her find misplaced tools and such. In a modern AU I could also argue Porygon to handle software components of her more complicated inventions.

The malvago characters are easy because they already have animal motifs -- Victor could have a Skorupi, Carla could have a Spinarak (there are more spider Pokemon than that but Spinarak is the most quintessential of them imo), and Ash could have either a Hoothoot or a Rowlet. Of course, none of these characters actually started as malvagos, so for some Pokemon more suited for their pre-malvago lives...

I like the idea of Ash having started with Plusle and Minun as her "two pet mice" from "The One and Only". Uh, RIP to them, I guess. Zopilote's Mandibuzz was just too high of a level for the type advantage to be much help.

For Carla, my first non-spider thought was Zorua because of its association with illusions and disguising itself, but it may be too meek of a Pokemon for someone like her. My next thought was Purrloin, which is specifically known for charming people in order to steal from them, which, y'know, but I'm also trying to give everyone a different starter and I really want Victor to have a Purrloin, for reasons I will get into in a second. Mawile could work for similar reasons as Purrloin, and Poochyena could work for its extreme tenacity.

So Victor having Purrloin as his starter is important to me specifically because I would have Esteban with Nickit as his starter. The two are both associated with theft, tying in with Victor and Esteban's background in sleight-of-hand and petty theft around the castle, but more importantly, Purrloin and Nickit are considered bitter rivals in the Pokemon universe because they compete for territory. They also aesthetically fit with the two -- Purrloin/Liepard have green eyes and purple as their main color, whereas Nikit/Thievul have a black/white/dark-orange-that-we-can-totally-call-red-for-now color pallet matching Esteban's. The truly key part of Thievul's design, though:

It has Esteban's mustache. This is just his Poke-sona, I'm absolutely losing my mind. It's just missing the goatee.

Esteban with a Nickit also works as a parallel to Elena, if she started with one of the fox Pokemon discussed in the last eoa/Pokemon crossover post.

I’ve had a couple of pokemon au ideas for a while so might as well share here!

Wilbur with a Sandslash. Just because. Also an Absol.

Dream with a Reuniclus bc of the face and the colors.

Tubbo with an Espurr bc both are small and cute but terrifying.

Philza should have at least a Staraptor and a Corviknight. Also a Dusknoir to symbolize his connection with Death (Mumza) since Dusknoir guides souls to the afterlife.

Sapnap with a Magmar. Self explanatory.

Fundy with a Vulpix and Mienshao.

Ranboo with an Umbreon is a nice idea.

Quackity with a Golduck, Porigon 2 and Ludicolo. All of them look like ducks to me.

Skeppy with a Carbink and a Barbaracle.

Sam with a Watchog, Conkeldurr and a Garchomp. Sort of like an “intimidating warden vibes”.

Puffy with an Ampharos, Perrserker and Milktank.

Eret should have a Togekiss and a Latias and Foolish should have a Latios to symbolize their connection (Eternal Duo).

Purpled should have a Toxicroak and Mightyena (for mercenary work).

I see Ponk with a Tropius to kinda symbolize the lemon trees. Also a Weavile bc Ponk likes to steal a lot.

Antfrost with a Pyroar. (Velvet would also have a Pyroar)

Schlatt with a Persian bc he gives off Giovanni vibes. Also a Tauros or Bouffalant.

Punz with a Lycanrock (day) and Ninjask.

Hannah with literally every flower themed Pokemon. In this case Florges, Roserade and Vileplume.

Slimecicle should also have a Sligoo friend!

A Stolen Interaction

Summary: Renata is ready to check out a new town with her Pokemon when suddenly she meets two identical redheads.

Renata hummed a happy little tune to herself as she strolled through Prescott, the city where a fabled fairy-type gym leader supposedly was. Just the idea of battling with her pokemon made Renata’s heart hum like mad. She was glad she had sworn off coffee recently or else she’d be bouncing around like crazy. Her excitement seemed to be rubbing off on her pokemon too as Nickit strode beside her trainer. The little fox pokemon trotted with its little paws covered in black fur that resembled boots.

“Excited, pal?” Renata smiled down at her pokemon.

“Nick, Nickit!” Nickit swayed its large tail against the ground and kept pouncing here and there from having too much energy. Nickit could never stay still in her pokeball; she wanted to be wild and free. The promise of a pokemon battle only added to the dark type pokemon enthusiasm.

“It! It! It!”

“Exactly, buddy! That’s the spirit!” Renata grinned and tossed over a berry from the bedazzled pouch. Her smile remained as Nickit happily munched on the oran berry. Tucking away the pouch in her back pocket, Renata checked her pokewatch to see what time it was.

“Hmmm, should we grab some food before the gym?”

“Nickit!” The pokemon chimed happily and trotted around and between Renata’s legs.

Renata gave a small laugh “Alright, food it is! Now let’s find some grub to-” Renata paused when she felt the weight in her back pocket shift. With a sharp spin she turned around to see a Sableye standing there with the bedazzled pouch, entranced by how it sparkled. The red stone typically in the Pokemon’s chest was missing.

“Hey there! Like the pouch?” Renata gave a friendly smile while Nickit was more defensive. “It’s okay, Nickit, maybe our new friend is hungry just like you were when we met.”

“Nick..it,” The pokemon brushed its tail against the ground with unsureness. Before Renata could reassure her pokemon a loud voice boomed nearby.

“Sableye, no!” A tall redhead dashed forward and scooped up the purple pokemon. “Release it, release,” She instructed her pokemon.

“Sable.” The pokemon shook its head but saw the stern look in those blue eyes and reluctantly let go of the pouch.

“Eye, Eye.”

The bedazzled bag fell with a muted thunk as a few berries rolled out. Without waiting, Nickit dashed forward and ate happily.

“Shit, sorry about my pokemon. Sableye is a good egg, they just love shiny stuff,” The redheaded trainer explained while Sableye started to climb up her side.

“Sable,” It hummed as it reached out for her eyes, mesmerized by how shiny and blue they were.

“No.” The redhead wrestled with her pokemon to let go of her face then plopped Sableye down beside her.

“Eh, it’s all good. My pouch does look pretty awesome so it makes sense,” Renata leaned over and pulled the pouch off Nickit’s snout.

“Nickit,” The pokemon huffed.

“No, buddy, you’re gonna wreck your appetite if you keep eating away,” Renata explained then pocketed the pouch.

“Sableye, go on and say you’re sorry,” The redhead instructed as her pokemon hid behind her leg. It gave a mischievous smile and stared at Renata.

Renata tilted her head to the side. “Uhhh..Is that the apology?”

“No, it’s not.” The trainer sighed. “You might not be getting one because my pokemon is a little shit. My name is Sophie by the way,” She readjusted her cap and gave a grin.

“Ooo, nice to meetcha, Soph, my name’s Renata,” Renata stood proud and the two shared a smile. There was an instant connection between them and both of them knew in that moment. They were gonna be life long pals. Before either could share the great news that they were now forever buddies a new voice appeared.

“Sophie! Where the hell did you run off to?” A girl with identical facial features and short red hair ran forward.

“There you are, come on, the others...” Minnie’s voice trailed off when she spotted Renata. Her heart quickened when she looked at the cute girl in short jean shorts and purple top that was tied around her waist exposing her belly button. A pink flower rested in her side bun. “Who is this?” Minnie managed to ask her twin after a few seconds.

“This is Renata, we just met because a certain pokemon had grabby hands,” Sophie gave the Sableye a look but it just responded with a playful grin.

“Oh,” Minnie’s voice was small as her mind was short circuiting from the hot girl in front of her.

“Yep! So you know my name, what kind of a name does a hottie like you have?” Renata walked forward, closing the distance between them. Immediately Minnie’s face grew red and she began extremely flustered.

“Minnie,”

“Mmmm, Minnie,” Renata let the name roll off her tongue. Her eyes stayed on Minnie’s. Both of them stayed quiet for a second.

“Corviknight! Cor! Cor!” A giant bird pokemon flew down looking as dark blue as the night sky. It landed with ease behind Minnie and stood in all its seven foot tall glory.

“Holy! A Corviknight!” Renata smiled up at the bird pokemon who had taken it upon themself to pick up Minnie by the scruff of her shirt collar.

“Hey, Corviknight, cut that shit out!” Minnie squirmed around while Nickit pounced here and there, biting and kicking the giant bird pokemon. Corviknight didn’t seem to mind at all and stayed its spot.

“Guess that's the signal that lunch is ready back at camp,” Sophie casually picked up Sableye before a thought crossed her mind and she looked over at Renata. “Hey, you wanna join us for lunch?”

“Yes!” Minnie blurted out, wanting that to be Renata’s answer so badly that she had accidentally answered in her place.

Renata’s eyes held a playfulness as she smiled at Minnie. “Sounds good to me.”

“Awesome!” Sophie jogged over and led the way. “Onward to food!” She strolled alongside Renata who was happy about this whole arrangement.

“I can’t tell you how starving I am,”

“You just ate an hour ago,” Minnie grumbled as Corviknight walked forward with her still dangling from its beak.

“Yeah well I’m hungry again,” Sophie huffed, pushing her baseball cap tighter on her head.

“Does your pokemon always carry you like that?” Renata asked with intrigue as Minnie swayed with Corviknight’s movement.

“Only when I get distracted or off schedule,” Minnie replied, wanting to look cooler in front of Renata than she did right now.

“Well I think it’s super cute. Just like you,” Renata got on her tiptoes and stretched her arm out to boop Minnie’s nose. That was extremely effective against the redhead who became a blushing mess.

“So, Ren, I wanna know more about you, have you been journeying for long?” Sophie asked and gained Renata’s attention who happily spoke with her new friend.

“Mhhmm, a few years now. Started out with me and Lasagna.”

That made both of the twins look over her way.

“Lasagna?” Sophie’s nose scrunched with confusion.

“Don’t worry, you’ll meet him soon. He’s amazing!” Renata grinned then kept talking as she walked alongside two trainers she’d hope to get to know everything about.

Just to recap my shiny hunts today. Im passed double odds for a Nickit and I lost my Gaint purple pumpkin.

After a match Leon is just getting ready to head out when a Nickit shows up and swipes his hat. The pokemon runs off with it and Leon will follow where he eventually runs into gn!reader who is one of the staff working at the stadium! Reader’s job is typically to clean up any stands and find lost items to put into lost and found, and their Nickit helps!

~~ Bleacher Trash (LeonxReader)

Leon is an easygoing guy, that much is obvious, but there is one thing he can’t stand: people swiping his hat.

Most of the time it’s girls trying to flirt, or kids that are starstruck, so he normally lets it slide, but that doesn’t mean there’s never a pang of frustration whenever it happens. The purpose of having a hat is for it to be on his head, and not in the hands of a giggling fan. If he wanted to showcase his sweaty scalp and eternal bedhead, he would have by now. And, after intense training days like today, the thing probably smells rancid anyway, so it’s really best for everyone that it stays put.

Leon returns Charizard to his Poke Ball, offers a ‘good luck next time’ to a Pokemon League staff that begged to battle him after hours, and cracks his back through a satisfying stretch. He really needs to stop adhering to these requests… He could be in bed with a cup of tea by now. Oh well, that League staff member had some interesting tactics that Leon tucked away for later, and he knows a bit more about his staff that works in Wyndon Stadium, which is always nice.

He saunters to his bag that he tossed onto the stands and kneels to rustle through the contents. Should he stock up on more full restores before he heads home? Or did he have some at home anyway? Maybe he could stop at the Pokemon Center on the way o-

Is it drafty in here?

The circumference of his head where his hat normally sat is suddenly a little chilly. Leon pats his head, only to pat dried sweat and the purple hair plastered to his forehead.

He whips his head up at the sound of claws scratching against steel only to see a flash of red disappear under the bleachers.

“Hey, wait a second!” Leon yelps as he scrambles to stand.

He follows the quiet tink tink tink of claws as best he can, though the clunk clunk clunk of his shoes on the bleachers drown out the sound pretty well. He reaches the end of the bleacher section, and that flash of red darts into the dark.

Leon nimbly swings around and behind the bleachers, following that flash of red through the occasional sliver of light that speckles through. He crouches as best he can as to not smack his head on the steel beams above him, and he grimaces at the trash that litters the grimy ground. He has never been under the bleachers of Wyndon Stadium, and he hopes he never will again.

“Where’d you go…” he mutters. The lines of light from the spaces between the bleachers create a trail to follow, until Leon’s eyes finally meet that flash of red again.

A Nickit? What is a Nickit doing here?

The Nickit’s tail is gleefully flicking back and forth, and when Leon glances to see what it is so happy about, he flinches back in shock.

A person? What is a person doing here?

He quickly puts two and two together when he notices the broom in one hand and a bag in the other – how late did staff work in Wyndon Stadium? He really needs to know more about the people that work for him.

Leon wishes he could stand straight and properly introduce himself to you, but he has to settle for crouching uncomfortably with his bangs plastered against his forehead. He motions to take a step closer, only to pause when you let out a quiet hum.

“Squeaky-clean,” you mumble in a singsong. “Getting these bleachers squeak-y clean.”

Leon’s mouth opens in surprise, then quickly shifts to a sly grin. Your lyrics aren’t exactly Piers-level, but Leon is sure it helps pass the time.

“Gonna pick up the trash from the trash people that leave trash,” you hum again. “Gotta make my money so I don’t have to eat trash.”

Leon unsuccessfully holds back his chuckle, and you freeze. His cover is blown, so he steps closer to you to introduce himself as properly as he can given the circumstances. He grins again when the lines of light from between the bleachers highlight your wide (and what’s that other expression? Terrified?) eyes meet his. He’s used to this though, and it’s probably not great that you’re alone under some dark bleachers, so he tries to open his posture to exude friendliness. His sweaty head probably humanizes him too, so now he’s not so frustrated at the thieving Nickit.

“Hi,” Leon says. “Hope I didn’t startle you.”

You open your mouth, close it, open it again, then cough when a bug flies in.

“Muh-m-muh,” you stutter. Leon raises an eyebrow, but that doesn’t help your suddenly sparse vocabulary. “M-Mr. Leon! Mr. Champion Leon, sir, h-how long have you been standing there?!”

“Oh, don’t mind me,” Leon chuckles. “Please, continue your song. What happens to the trash people that leave trash?”

You can’t stop your mouth. You can’t stop it from telling the Champion the rest of your terrible lyrics.

“They…” you mumble. “They turn into Garbodors.”

“Interesting,” Leon laughs. “Then what?”

“I… I haven’t gotten to that part yet,” you confess as a blush stains your cheeks. “Normally I just sing those parts over and over.”

“Well, sorry I interrupted,” Leon says. “But I think your Nickit has something of mine.”

You glance to your Nickit, who stands triumphantly holding its prize in its teeth. You gasp and offer a sheepish grin to Leon.

“Sorry,” you say. “I normally have my Nickit help speed up the process. I… I thought this was just some merchandise…”

“It’s the real deal,” Leon chuckles. “Clever to have a Pokemon help you. You work here?”

“Yes,” you mumble. You wonder if you’ll still have a job after your Pokemon stole the Champion’s hat. “Though I’ll probably get fired after this.”

Leon’s laugh resounds against the steel of the bleachers, and your tense shoulders ease.

“I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen,” Leon says through a smile. You’ve never been this close to the Champion before, and that smile is just as dazzling up close. “And you know what? I’ve got a ton of other hats anyway.”

“Huh?” you ask stupidly.

“Keep it,” he says with a wink, and you nearly topple over. His charisma is overwhelming, blasting against you like some typhoon of charm. You need to think of something alluring, and fast.

“Oh, no,” you splutter out alluringly. “I couldn’t, it smells really bad.”

Leon’s jaw drops, as does yours, when your words tumble from your lips before you can stop them. Well, guess it’s time you find another job. Or another country to live in.

His laugh resounds through the bleachers again, and the slivers of light dance to the sound.

“You’re funny. I can’t deny that it’s pretty disgusting after a battle,” he says. He plucks the hat from your hands when you guiltily offer it to him, and he sets it back securely on his head. “What’s your name?”

Is he going to turn you in? Throw you at the feet of your supervisor? Maybe you should give him a fake name. Instead, you tell him your actual name, since you can’t seem to lie to those golden eyes.

“Well,” Leon says. “This has been an eventful evening for the both of us. How late do you work?”

Is he going to wait for you? Wait for you to pull on your coat just to throw you in the dumpster after stealing his things and insulting him? You accept your fate and tell him your shift ends soon.

“I’ll help you then,” he says kindly. “I can even help you make up some new lyrics.”

“Okay,” you say as alluringly as possible, though really it just comes out monotone and robotic. You squeak at the end when Nickit flicks its tail against you. That makes Leon smile though, so maybe your influx of awkward is alluring in itself?

Leon continues to talk with you, tries to make you laugh, and does so successfully when he smacks the bill of his hat against the bleachers a few times. You show him a few tricks you’ve picked up to not constantly smash your head against things, and he offers a few new song lyrics in return.

Leon wonders why he’s never seen you before. Perhaps training late wasn’t so bad, and perhaps getting his hat stolen wasn’t so bad either. The next day, he accidentally leaves his hat on the bleachers, and accidentally leaves a few treats underneath it as well.
