Obscure Animation Subject #111: The Twisted Timeline of Sammy & Raj

Okay so this is a recent animated series that first aired a week ago in India, and this is an Indian-British collaboration, so yeah.

Don’t know much about it, but it is airing in the US on Nicktoons and does follow two kids using a time altering app. Sounds a bit like Looped in a way, though I heard better executed since it appears to be a show teaching about Indian culture.

Now look, I do have respect for cultures worldwide, and Indian culture is no exception. However, I’m not fan of Indian produced content, as their usually low quality, with cheesy acting and corny effects. Their logos by the way scare me, as their overly religious. But looking at this show, the art style looks okay and at least it isn’t unwatchable so I may watch it someday, who knows.

For anyone that's confused...

Yesterday four new episodes of Earthspark (Hashtag Oops, Outtakes, Missed Connection, and Security Protocols) were released early in India.

You can find a collection of clips here (tiktok, unfortunately), and the individual clips on this Youtube channel.

The episodes were aired through TataPlay, which is an Indian streaming service. TataPlay is not available outside of India, and requires a subscription.

The link for Earthspark on TataPlay is here, though I've been told it leads to the appstore if you're on mobile. On web, I can't see the individual episodes without creating an account and paying for a subscription that I can't get.

Currently, they're not on Nickelodeon or Paramount, even with an Indian VPN.

I and others have tried pretty much everything, and there's not really any way to access TataPlay or the new Earthspark eps unless you actually live in India.

I'm currently looking for anyone in India who can download the episodes! DM me if you can access TataPlay and are willing to help out. You'll be repaid with free fanart ^^

Conspiracists and far-right extremists are blaming just about everything and everyone for Tuesday morning’s Baltimore bridge collapse.

A non-exhaustive list of things that are getting blamed for the bridge collapse on Telegram and X include President Biden, Hamas, ISIS, P. Diddy, Nickelodeon, India, former president Barack Obama, Islam, aliens, Sri Lanka, the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, Wokeness, Ukraine, foreign aid, the CIA, Jewish people, Israel, Russia, China, Iran, Covid vaccines, DEI, immigrants, Black people, and lockdowns.

The Francis Scott Key truss bridge collapsed when the MV Dali cargo ship collided with one of the bridge supports. Six construction workers, who were filling potholes on the bridge’s roadway at the time, are presumed dead. The ship is owned by Singapore-based Grace Ocean Private Ltd., and the 22-person crew were all Indian. The ship was en route to Colombo, Sri Lanka, at the time of the accident.

This did not stop people from “asking questions” about the incident, a frequent conspiracist response to major events. And though conspiracy theorists are having a hard time pinpointing exactly what conspiracy caused the collapse, the one thing they do agree on is that this incident is a “black swan event.”

The term black swan event has been around for decades and is used to describe a major global event (typically in the financial markets) that can cause significant damage to a country’s economy. But in recent years, the term has been co-opted by the conspiracy-minded to explain an event triggered by the so-called deep state that would signal an imminent revolution, a third world war, or some other apocalyptic catastrophe.

One of the first people to call the bridge collapse a black swan event was disgraced former US national security adviser Michael Flynn. “This is a BLACK SWAN event,” he wrote on X. “Black swans normally come out of the world of finance (not military) … There are harbor masters for every single one of these transit points in America that are in charge of assuring the safety of navigation … start there.” Flynn’s post has been viewed 7.2 million times.

Misogynist influencer Andrew Tate, who has been charged in Romania with rape and human trafficking, also posted on X early on Tuesday morning, writing: “Nothing is safe. Black Swan Event imminent.” The post has been viewed almost 19 million times.

The term black swan quickly began trending on X, and soon conspiracists, extremists, and right-wing lawmakers began coming up with explanations for what or who triggered this “black swan event.”

One post claiming a link between the bridge collapse and the film Leave the World Behind has been viewed more than 1.2 million times. The post claimed that because the ship was headed to Sri Lanka, which has a lion on its flag, then the situation was linked to the ship that runs aground at the beginning of the film which was called White Lion. The post also points out that the film was produced by Obama.

A post from Anthony Sabatini, a former Florida state congressman, declared, without evidence, that “DEI did this”—and its been viewed over 2.2 million times.

Some politicians have boosted the conspiracy as well. “Is this an intentional attack or an accident?” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, an influential and conspiracy-minded member of the GOP, posted on X above a video shared by a prominent QAnon conspiracist.

Under previous iterations of X, formerly Twitter, such speculation would typically have gained little traction, as the algorithm would have prioritized trusted news sources and primary evidence. But under Elon Musk’s reign, anyone willing to pay for a blue check can have their posts artificially boosted by the algorithm. This means that conspiracies like this are ending up in the news feeds of millions of people.

On Telegram, one prominent election denier claimed the incident was linked to the fact that the bridge was named after Francis Scott Key, who wrote the words for the Star Spangled Banner, and was thus an attempt to undermine America.

“Don't let them erase our history,” the conspiracist wrote.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the tragic incident, but William DelBagno, the FBI special agent in charge, said on Tuesday that there are no indications of terrorism.

MANDALUYONG, NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION -- 'GreatSoulNight' is a Filipina-American animator and YouTuber, who plans to quit her own YouTube channel when she failed as a part-time online career on their video-sharing platform. In a video she posted Saturday morning (January 11th, 2025 -- Manila time), she talks about YouTube in her own perspective. She talks about animation and content quality for lower views and how the platform is more focused on algorithm-driven distractions, rather than real engagements in general.

GreatSoulNight has her own animation style, sometimes features public issues about psycological, mental illness, etc. and gives honest feedback from comments online. She has been on her unmonetized YouTube channel since late-May 2018 but she has trouble finding viewers to be interested in the channel.

This made her think about her future which might be retired so soon as an animated content creator. It seems that her inspiration is the British anti-YouTuber 'Cartoonshi' who is shaping her recent thoughts. Cartoonshi is known to criticize the same trends that bothers her more as a salty critique by attacking most fandoms targeting middle-fingered hatred like "The Loud House" and "The Casagrandes" for example, which all silencing free speech in the American and British law.

She complains about what she calls "content apathy" on YouTube. GreatSoulNight says many videos now seem to distract, somewhat to call mindless brain-rotting content and dramatic commentary views that don't care about them, rather than entertain in a meaningful way which makes online viewers tired in real life. She went back when YouTube praised real, personality-based content -- comparing it to today's scene full of clickbaiting and slick visuals which was already implemented in India and will be taken out soon in selected countries. The older days of YouTube shows how much she wants the only platform that builds real human connections instead of just trying to please the algorithm.

She told exclusively to OneNETnews that she's so annoyed with sponsorships on the platform calling them "scammy or irrelevant", sometimes the abusive use of ad-blockers or sponsorship-blockers to skip in. This criticism disconnects all that on how real the content is as she wants to see a comeback of simpler, more relatable videos.

Even with her unaddressed complaints, 'GreatSoulNight' tells new or small creators to follow their passions without letting trends control their content. It's more fun when you enjoy what you do and connect with your audience are important for a fulfilling creative journey when you find a niche in the lower competition sector.

Now she decided to indefinitely step back from the video-sharing platform as she stopped earning from her own YouTube channel under YouTube Partner Programme (YPP). Instead, she now relies on direct paywalled contributions like 'Ko-Fi', an independent online donation platform for low-income creators.

This shows how unhappy she is with the way the platform is changing where she tried her best and her desire to move away from the nastiness often linked to its toxic and unregulated side of social media. Though, she's using the 'BlueSky' platform, she still wants to connect with her audience in a peaceful way possible.

GreatSoulNight will be putting out her last video upload sometime later this year 2025 onwards. Cartoonshi's ideas are playing a big role in her story. People know Cartoonshi for his harsh views on YouTube in the past and how other dramatic YouTubers act.
