George, you have a lot of reasons to not get involved in this. I said I'm in.
[Image Description: Twelve stacked gifs from Nancy Drew.
Nick and Bess are in Carson's kitchen. Nick: I turned down the council seat. I'm taking on the FFTH my way. Committee meetings aren't gonna help people like the Galley brothers, we are. Bess: Okay, but how? We can't keep exorcising ghosts with kitchen supplies. Nick: We need a new historical society. A -- a satellite location that operates in secret outside of the law. Bess: Grim-Slaying Nick is back, and I'm listening now. Nick: Okay. I have an empty rental space in my building. It'll be risky, but -- Bess: I've been a criminal before, and at least this time we'll be helping people. George enters the kitchen. George: I heard the words "risky" and "criminal". As your unofficial lawyer, do I want to know? Bess: No, probably not. Nick shakes his head. Bess: But let's just leave it as me and Nick aren't rolling over. George: I'm in.]

My Secret Sleuth gift (@secretsleuthexchange) for @perfectpurls! This was inspired by a chapter from her fic Bring On The Light, a very sweet series I definitely recommend about Ace and Nancy celebrating Channukah together in different ways. In this one, they teach the rest of the crew to play dreidel!
I very much enjoyed reading through your fics for this, and hope you had a great Channukah! ♥

Okay I’m 90% sure there’s a wraith like thing happening under the surface in season 4. I don’t have all my evidence word for word but between Tristan taking their jewelry (Bess’ earrings and Nancy’s locket), and just how some of the Drew Crew have been acting.
All the way back in 4x03 when Nace go to get the good voodoo doll thing for the curse-breaking ritual (iykyk) Ace acts super weird, and the whole scene just feels very off. Nancy is on the phone with Ace while she’s trying to pick the front door lock when they suddenly make a point of him being silent on the call, then he comes around already holding the doll. He claims something along the lines of the back door already being open, but Nancy freaking Drew would’ve checked the perimeter before going to picking the front lock, right? And Ace is awkwardly silent and stand -off-ish when Nancy is saying how the ‘universe wants them to be together’ or something along those lines. If you watch it back the whole scene just feels off in a way that makes me think something was messing with Nancy to not check the whole place before picking the lock, and (more likely) something was messing with Ace to make him break a window or something to get the doll, get out, and not realize he’d done it, but feel off, hence how quiet he was in that scene (and not the normal Ace quiet, at least how I saw it).
And, pulling evidence from the latest ep, I think at the claw scene at the end with Nancy, he was having a ‘I couldn’t lost you’ moment. We see in the little montage after finding the wraith that it wrapped around her neck before she said that to Ace after saving him. The way that scene was ramped up felt a little similar to me, especially the hesitation from both of them there.
Now I’m mainly pulling evidence from Nancy and Ace here, but going with the theory that this has something to do with Tristan having their jewelry, it would involve Bess too (and probably the rest of the Drew Crew eventually). Which, they’ve all had some moments of being out of character tbh (See 4x06 lol) which could be nothing or something.
I don’t think what may be messing with them is supernatural since they did the whole wraith thing in season 2, so I definitely think the Glass family have something to do with this.
Odds are everything I’m saying here is wrong but I wanted to give my two cents and if I do end up being right I wanted my theories here somewhere for proof lol

When a Counterspell Backfires, Part 1.
Nancy Drew x gn! Reader
Summary: After not taking it seriously for some time, breaking the curse Temperance casted on you and Nancy proves harder than expected.
Warnings: angst, deteriorated health mention, passing out.
Word Count: 1.3k
Tumblr media
“Nancy! Guess what I found?” you called, in a singsong manner.
“My car keys?” The redhead turned around to look at you from her place at her desk.
“Well, of course, but also something else…” You shook the keychain in your right hand, but kept the other behind your back. Nancy raised her eyebrows expectantly and a half smile appeared on her face. “The map of the forbidden catacombs! With the entrance spot and everything.”
“No, you didn’t!” Nancy jumped from her chair and, in mere milliseconds, stood in front of you to engulf you on a rib-breaking hug. She was beaming, just like every time something went well on an investigation.
You wrapped your arms around her as best as you could with the items on your hands, being extra careful to not tear the ancient piece of paper. “Yes I did! Don’t ask me how though, I don’t think you wanna know.”
“Ha, ha, you are soooo funny.” She rolled her eyes. “We both know you wouldn’t dare break middle school rules, nevermind the actual law.”
“What can I say? Maybe being around you so much is starting to rub off on me.” You sported a mischievous grin when she rolled her eyes once again and leaned in for a kiss, which you returned gladly. You gave her a last peck on her cheek and stood beside her, offering your arm to link with hers. “Shall we?”
“We shall.” Sporting huge smiles, the both of you walked to the blue car outside her house and you tossed her the keys. She really was looking bright today, all happy and excited. You love to see her like this.
—
That was long ago. The ghost you were looking for ended up being part of a cluster case, something very new to the crew. Still, you managed, as always. After days of research, a messy and exhausting hand-to-ghostly-hand combat, and a bunch of salt bombs, it was all over. You had gotten an awful purplish slash on your back that wouldn’t quite heal, but it was fine, it acted as a normal scar anyway.
Thinking back to it now it felt silly, a fun little supernatural mystery to solve. Now everything is complicated, personal. Since Temperance casted the curse on you and Nancy nothing is the same. You haven’t seen your girlfriend’s smile in a while.
“The universe will do everything in its power to prevent you from enjoying the time you are in each other’s presence. Accidents, missteps… death? But you will be in love forever, unable to move on, unable to be distant. Until death do you part.” Had been the sentence.
When Nancy told you this, you didn’t believe it to be such a bad thing (except for the dying part, of course), you thought you could get through it. At that time, all that had happened was you kicking a table leg right on your pinkie toe at The Claw, and your girlfriend spitting coffee from her nose. It surely had been unfortunate, but you had laughed about it. Ace had even jokingly started calling you trouble couple. Also, the being in love part you were already counting on, so what was the issue?
Things had escalated though. First it was breaking glasses, pumping your knees on furniture, burning skin on the stove. “Accidents happen”, you had said. You were actually known for being a little clumsy, no biggie. Then came the misstep on the stairs that had ended in a concussion, the falling into the sea from the docks and almost drowning, the car crash… You had tried taking a break from each other, moving away for some time to see what happened, but it had made you both awfully ill. Nancy had ended up in the hospital.
Being together was dangerous, and so was being apart. So you took the offensive. You were a witch, and so was Bess, you’d figure something out.
It has been months now. Nancy’s health is deteriorating, her face paler each day, dark circles under her eyes, new scars and bruises adorning her body; you are in no better shape anyway.
“Baby wake up please…” you whispered. Your girlfriend was curled up in your arms, her sleeping face so soft despite everything. “Today we are trying the counter-spell Bess found, remember?”
After a few seconds, she stirs awake. For a moment she looks at you like she used to, shimmering eyes glad to feel you with her. Then the heaviness takes over, she nods in agreement and gets up to use the bathroom. You worry she might cut herself with her shaving machine, or slip on the tiles and hit her head on the toilet.
That’s all you do lately, worry. Maybe that's what will finally kill you.
She comes out of the bathroom safe and sound, and you feel like crying in relief. “So, are they all coming here?” She asks while looking for a clean shirt to put on.
You swallow the knot on your throat. “Yeah, Bess said it was better if we didn’t move too much. They are bringing the supplies too.”
“Good.”
-
You hear three firm knocks on the old wooden door. You look at Nancy, place your hand on her knee reassuringly, and stand from the couch to greet your friends. A string of curses can be heard when the door handle gives you an electric shock, but everything is fine. Nick, George, Ace, and Bess have their hands packed with bags and boxes, and they all look ready for war. You are gonna end this, once and for all.
The pitying looks from everyone in the last few months annoyed the fuck out of Nancy, so she shut off almost everyone in her life. You had tried to talk some sense into her, only managing to get her to meet up with friends and family once a week in small gatherings or movie nights you organized.
“Here goes nothing.” Nancy lets out a heavy sigh, you have a feeling she doesn’t believe this is going to work out. You squeeze her hands and conjure a calming smile on your face, as much to appease her nerves as yours.
Everything is set up, Nancy and you are standing face to face in a salt circle. The studio is flooding with lit candles, the flames waving with each breath you take. Your friends are standing in each of the four cardinals, a few feet away from you, holding a set of obscure antiques you know nothing about. You should get back to researching soon.
Bess starts chanting in latin, the others mimicking the phrase over, and over, and over again. Your body feels heavier, a buzzing sound in your ear. You look up to check on your girlfriend, and she looks weirdly brightened. Her eyes seem more attentive, her expression more alive, her cheeks are flushed as if she just came back from a short run. You are glad she’s already doing better, and would love to stay and enjoy the moment with her, but you feel yourself slipping away.
She doesn’t notice, her eyes are too focused on the light smoke coming out from your chests, and you don’t blame her, it really is a show to see.
The second Ace, Bess, George, and Nick stop chanting, darkness engulfs the space. The candles release their iconic burnt-wick smell. The only noise is everybody’s quiet breathing. Nobody dares to speak, but the same question plagues their minds: Did it work?
Your body, that long ago stopped feeling yours, collapses. Nancy barely manages to soften your fall by getting a grip of your arm. The moment breaks, your girlfriend is screaming your name, but you can’t hear her. Nick is checking your pulse, George fishes her phone from her bag and is already dialing 911, Bess wonders what went wrong.
You see, from somewhere above your body, how Nancy holds you in her arms, gets a strand of hair out of your face, tells you that everything will be okay. She's crying, screaming to no one in particular to do something to help you. You are unresponsive, every single muscle limp, you wish you could just tell her how much you love her.

A/N: There is not enough written about this show!! It's my guilty pleasure to be honest, The level of angst the show manages to put out is outstanding.
Tell me what you think! Feedback and reblogs are greatly appreciated!!

Nancy Drew Season 4 (aka the final season 😭)
I was just wondering what everyone’s thoughts and theories for the final season are since it comes out next month? I’m posting the official synopsis in case anyone hasn’t seen it, or needs a refresher.
“Season 4 of Nancy Drew begins as Nancy launches a new investigation to find a group of missing bodies from Horseshoe Bay’s cemetery that have been dug up and stolen—or have possibly risen. As Nancy is drawn into this ghostly case, a string of unexplained paranormal crimes leads the Drew Crew to believe that the literal sins of the town’s past have returned to haunt the living. Meanwhile, Nancy struggles with yearning for Ace, the man she loves. But when a slow-burning attraction begins between Nancy and the son of Ryan Hudson’s newest enemy, Nancy must decide whether this love interest is worth the ire of both her father and Ace—whose own heart may also be tempted by a new relationship. Nancy’s exploits this season will bring the Drew Crew numerous standalone cases, stunning twists, humor, and unexpected romances as they are drawn into a season-long mystery unlike any they have had to solve before. When Nancy’s efforts to protect her seaside hometown from the sins of its past backfire, she must do the unthinkable to save her friends from both the supernatural and earthbound threats coming for them—and it could cost her everything, and everyone, she’s ever loved.”
✨ I am 100% not here for Nancy and Ace both getting potential new love interests again. I mean we go through this every season, I’m tired of suffering 🙃.
✨ I also need Nancy and Ace to get together before the penultimate episode/series finale. I would like to have some episodes of them as an actual couple and to get to explore that dynamic.
✨ Will we finally get Ace’s last name revealed? I could see it happening in the series finale (or not at all).
✨ Do you think the road back will make an appearance? Despite being this powerful/shadowy organization, we haven’t really seen much of them and their actions since season 2.

I'm still trying to figure out how "Nancy Drew" is going to end next week. Last night's episode did seem to start ending storylines for some of the characters but still wondering how it's going to wrap up, especially for Nancy and Ace. I'm still positive they'll end up together but for it to make sense I feel like they're going to have to do a time jump. You can see that they were still setting up a 5th season just in case The CW changed their minds, but they didn't so this was all rushed together. A time jump would help not just for them but to show how all the characters are doing (and hopefully see the new baby), which makes me wonder if there was a 5th season if they were going to do that anyway. I'm still happy we got this show overall but it really needs to stick the landing and hopefully the final episode will do that.

Chapters: 1/4 Fandom: Nancy Drew (TV 2019) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Ace/Nancy Drew, Ace & Nancy Drew Characters: Nancy Drew, Ace (Nancy Drew), Bess Marvin, George Fayne, George Fan, Ned Nickerson, Temperance Hudson Additional Tags: 3x13 AU, S3 Alternative Ending, Star-crossed yes, Death curse not exactly, Season Finale-level action and pacing, canon-level violence, mild drug use Summary:
“What have you done!?” Temperance spat at Bess.
“What I had to do.” Bess said, mirroring Temperance’s earlier smug look. “I knew you’d never help us no matter what Nancy offered. So I came up with a backup plan– I tied your fate to Ace’s. Now if the Copperhead comes and kills him, you die too.”
~ My take on an alternative Season 3 finale leading into an alternative Season 4 premiere.

You have to pretend to be me. Tell Cameron you're sick. Postpone. Sure, but if you postpone, he might think you're a flake. Damn it, you're right. He will. Okay, don't postpone, but keep it short. Here's what you know: he's 21, one sibling, hates guns, loves coffee.

Nick, George, and Bess have swapped bodies. Nick is in George's body and George is in Bess'. Nick and George are in the kitchen talking, as George's study date waits in the diner. Nick: George, I got you. I know you better than anyone. What is it we're studying? George reaches into a large tote bag and pulls out a few papers. George: Torts. Do you know torts? Nick: I know they're a dessert. Nick grabs the papers and the tote bag before leaving the kitchen. George seems very dismayed and watches helplessly as Nick leaves the room.]

I totally agree with this. The only thing I can think of is the writers thought they had a chance at season 5 as the show was part of the CBS half of what The CW used to be and the year before most of the cancelled shows were WB ones due to HBO Max/Max and everything that was happening with the DC shows ending with WB's focus now on the films. But I really don't care about this whole Tristan and the ghost girl storyline anymore as now they have to switch to ending everyone's storylines, where if we were getting a 5th season I probably would care more. And we know they have to end with Nancy and Ace together (and likely Nick and George too) or they're going to get so much backlash from so many fans and critics. I'm expecting these last 3 episodes to be extremely rushed now as they had to switch to ending the whole series.
After last night's fury, I finally am able to recognize the way I felt. I would have loved this episode as like an episode 6-7 but we only have three episodes left and it only now seems like they're getting deeper in with their love interests. We went from love of their lives, to best kiss ever and I can't be happy without you in my life. Now suddenly Nancy calls Ace "my ex", does it not feel strange?
I spent a year getting over someone I never dated either, did I like him? Yes but did I think he was the love of my life? No. So, I find it really strange that Nancy and Ace were just like "Alright we can't date, sad. Hey new lover wanna go for dinner?" Within the time span of like what two weeks?
I know the showrunners and writers only found out when they were already writing their season but didn't they already feel like the end was nearing, seeing how many shows were expected to be canceled. Regardless of that, this episode felt off. I know Nancy drowns her feelings by diving head first into a new relationship but still it feels weird and out of character the way everything is going rn.
The only possible satisfying way I see this panning out is that
- Next episode we have a Nancy rescue mission, Ace being worried, Tristan not making it because the ritual failed. (Sorry Tristan but I really don't care for you). But then that would make Nancy be all sad for Tristan which yeah sad but also he's like a centuries old sin eater that people have been using to their advantage.
- Episode 12 would then be the episode where hopefully the whole drew crew works together, we get a final revelation about Nace. I would love a heart to heart about the sin she erased or I don't know because they're making it seem like nace never communicated (I'm here for you, if you wanna talk???)
- Episode 13 is where I feel like we find out what the sin, Nancy had erased was. What would make sense the most would be Nancy erasing her love and feelings for Ace or maybe the pain (you know lust and all that being a sin). Her having this whole speech about Ace, them trying to find a cure and then the last few minutes happy everyone montage.
I trust and love the showrunners, creators and writers but I can't help but feel upset at how rushed everything is feeling. Because if Tristan doesn't die (which he probably won't because he's important until the finale) we will have an extremely rushed timeline which could've been avoided because I don't think anyone was looking for another love triangle/square in a shows final season.
I'm just sad, I can't help but feel nothing towards Nancy x Tristan and Ace x Ghost Girl. Like yeah they're attractive but we've been rooting for them for years and now it just feels like they don't even care that much anymore.

When the party's over
Nancy Drew x Ace (Hardy)
Summary: Nancy and Ace are to deal with the aftermath of a New Year's Eve party. A lot of feelings boil over and comfort ensues. Hurt/comfort.
Warnings: vomiting is mentioned, drinking implied.
A/N: This work was made as a @secretsleuthexchange gift for @nancedrcw ! I hope you enjoy and had some Happy Holidays!
Word count: 1,8k
Tumblr media
The Claw’s New Year party has dragged on more than expected, and it’s almost four. Few customers are left, some chatting over the loud music, some getting ready to leave. George’s talking to Jesse and watching over her little sisters sleeping on some booths, Nick and Bess still on the dance floor.
Nancy and Ace have been joined at the hip since they got together, and after Ace notices Nancy’s sixth yawn in less than twenty minutes, they agree to call it a night. Ace piles some of the stray cups in the sink and takes a few scattered chairs to the far corner. They wave to the crew and promise to be back by afternoon to help figure out the mess.
The night air is crisp against their flushed cheeks when they step out the door. Nancy tightens her coat, and Ace rests a hand on the small of her back. He is the designated driver tonight, so they make their way to Florence, kicking snow and trying not to slip on it.
Nancy rolls her eyes as Ace opens the passenger door for her, not able to contain the smile that creeps up her face. She gets in and immediately stretches herself to open his door from the inside. If he gets to be chivalrous, so does she. He gets in with a matching grin and dips to kiss her softly.
The engine is turned on and left to warm up a bit before taking off. They go straight to Ace’s apartment, his right hand on Nancy’s knee every moment it isn’t on the gearshift. She dozes off as soon as her hair hits the headrest.
The climb up to the actual floor is slow paced, Nancy’s feet catching on at least two of the steps. The warmth of Ace’s arms guiding her and his whispered “careful”s make her feel tipsy, it takes some actual effort to not fall asleep then and there.
While Ace searches for his keys in his pockets, she leans on the wooden door frame and rests her eyes. She’s so tired her eyelids itch like crazy, and her fingers are tingling with cold. The door unlocks, but she stays put, opening one eye to check on Ace. He’s right there looking back. She reaches out with one hand to grab his jacket lapel and brings him in with more might than strength, just to rest her arms on his shoulders and stroke his hair.
“Let’s get inside, yeah?” he coos, kissing her cheek and brushing his nose to her ear. Nancy nuzzles her face in the crook of his neck, so he hugs her waist and pulls her up a few inches from the ground. She lets out a surprised shriek and hugs him tighter. He closes the door softly with his boot and turns on a light with his elbow.
Ace puts her down on the neatly made bed, and leaves her for a moment to head into the bathroom. He takes a couple of minutes to brush his teeth and wash his face, then fills up a glass of tap water and picks up Nancy’s toothbrush and paste.
He expects her to be asleep already. Upon exiting the bathroom he sees her back, she’s curled up on top of the comforter. “Nancy, do you wanna brush your teeth?”
He walks around the bed to face her, and finds out she’s actually awake, her eyes glossy and unfocused. She’s breathing through her nose, her lips forming a tight line.
Ace leaves what he’s holding to give his full attention to his girlfriend. His hand finds her cheek as he asks softly, “Nance, what’s the matter?”
Her eyes focus on him and she makes that expression she always does when she’s trying not to cry. Ace lets out a murmured noise that sounds an awful lot like ‘baby’ and then asks her if she wants him to hold her.
When she nods, he takes her shoes off and goes to do the same with her jacket, but a sob interrupts his actions, and he gets that it’s a time sensitive situation.
He lays down beside her and she rolls over to dig her nose into his chest. When she feels safe enough, the dam falls and she lets herself cry.
She cries and she isn’t even sure why, they had a great night, didn’t they? All their friends were there, and she has an amazing boyfriend, who’s even holding her right now! And she survived a supernatural parasite just last month, and a major murderous sea spirit before that! So why would she complain? Her best friend came back from the dead, which is actually great, since it was her fault she died in the first place. She found out she is somehow adopted, and her parents hid it from her her whole life, but they had their reasons, and it’s not like her childhood was at all as traumatic as it could have been. Except for the child murder she encountered at the ripe age of twelve, and met again a few months back. And such a busy year even helped distract her from the fact that her mom is dead, and she has no prospects or projects in life!
She thinks she might be wailing, and she’s definitely ruined Ace’s sweater. A distant part of her mind feels ashamed at such loss of control of herself, but she’s not sailing her boat right now, so there isn’t much she can do.
-
Ace knew it was bound to happen. The amount of trauma that they’ve all been through this year would be enough to knock down a horse at best, but he knew Nancy had it worse than everyone. He had always been so worried at how good she was at repressing everything.
He brushed her hair through his fingers, untangling knots and undoing the two intricate braids she had spent half an hour making. The sobbing turned into hiccups and then to soft puffs of air against his neck when she exhausted herself.
Ace hadn’t finished his night routine, but he wouldn’t move now that Nancy was asleep. He reached over to grab an extra blanket he had a few feet from the bed and covered her and himself with it. He turned off the lamp and went back to holding Nancy.
He was really tired before, but he won’t close his eyes, even when they start to sting. Something in his subconsciousness makes him stand guard. After half an hour of ruminating he gives up and his eyes shut.
-
He sits up before he knows why. The bed is empty, and there is noise coming from the bathroom. The door is closed, there is light coming from under it. His brain rushes to catch up, he looks out the window. It’s still dark, the clock? It's almost seven. PM? No, AM. Right.
He gets up when he hears the sound again. Retching. Fuck. He picks up the toothbrush he remembers leaving a few hours ago in the nightstand, and makes a beeline to the bathroom. He knocks on the door, “Nancy, I’m coming in.”
Nancy is kneeling on the floor, her face inside the toilet. Ace crouches next to her and gathers her strawberry blonde hair in a haphazard ponytail, with a hair tie conveniently placed right next to her on the floor. He rubs her back, and finds she’s shaking and sweaty. When a few minutes pass and it seems like she’s not gonna vomit anymore, he asks, “Are you alright?”
Nancy nods. “I’m fine.” She takes a shallow breath in, covers her mouth with her hand, and closes her eyes. She’s nothing if not stubborn, and she won’t be controlled by nausea, no sir. “I’m okay.” She repeats.
She accepts the toothbrush when it’s handed to her, but doesn’t get up; she just reaches up her hand to the faucet and brushes her teeth from the floor. Getting up would be risking getting dizzy again. She spits into the toilet and flushes it.
Ace is there, watching her every move and trying to make a plan. “Do you want to head back to bed?” he asks her.
“Give me a second,” she says with a raspy voice. Her forehead is resting on her forearm, and she’s doing her best to breathe slowly. Ace nods and stands up.
He goes back to his bedroom and arranges the bed so they can actually get inside this time. He goes to the kitchen and picks some Primperan, a glass of fresh water and a bucket, that he leaves on Nancy’s side of the bed. He grabs an old cotton t-shirt and a pair of Nancy’s pajama shorts and heads to the bathroom.
Nancy looks up from her spot on the floor. Down there, all sticky and unstable, she feels so weak it makes her want to cry. She saw herself in the mirror earlier. Her face pale, skin almost transparent, reminded her of when the parasite was still attached to her. Bitter bile climbs up her throat, she swallows and pushes it down.
Ace, with his perfect bedhead, and his worried eyes, hands her a change of clothes. She looks down to find herself still in last night’s knitted dress. She accepts the offer and changes quietly, while Ace subtly looks another way. He grabs the dress and folds it on his arm, then reaches his other hand to help her up. Her stomach makes a weird noise, but she doesn’t get the urge to puke again.
She turns off the bathroom light and follows him to the prepared bed. She notices the bucket on her side of the carpet.
“You can take one of those pills, for the nausea,” he gestures to her nightstand. She takes one and downs it with a sip of water.
She turns to him and tears up again. Guilt and grief sit heavy on her chest, she can’t help but think, “I don’t deserve you.”
It comes out as a broken whisper. She knows it’s not fair to say such a thing, but it’s eating her insides since they got together.
“Come here,” he says, laying down with his arms open. Nancy can’t deny him, and so she lets herself be comforted, even if she isn’t worth so much love. “It’s late and you haven’t slept properly.” She sniffs and hugs him back. “We’ll wake up in a couple of hours and then get breakfast, and then I can show you how wrong that statement is, okay?” She chuckles softly. If it was anyone else, she would be defending her honor right now, but it’s Ace, and he’s right even more times than she is.
“Okay.”
There is still a long way to go, but it’s a start.
