So, this contest season has been pretty good to #PaleHorse. It didn't place at the #nichollfellowship but I was informed it cracked the top 15%. Also, I was just notified that it's a semifinalist in the 1st annual @womeninhorrorfilmfestival. Finalists are announced next week so, fingers crossed! I will also have a MAJOR festival announcement come mid-august. 😊😊😊

Nicholl Fellowship of Screenwriting

This fellowship might be the most prestigious on the list. Offered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, or more widely known as The Oscars. The Academy Nicholls screenwriting competition awards $35,000 annually to amateur writers.

Disney/ABC Television Group Writers program

Disney/ABC Writing program is a twelve-month program where writers get a chance to participate in a curriculum, to help them better prepare for staffing consideration. The program includes workshops led by industry veterans, improvisational workshops and other activities designed to facilitate relationships that can be invaluable in developing a television career.

CBS Diversity Institute

This is an eight-month program that focuses on helping aspiring television writers by providing opportunities to build relationships with network executives and showrunners. Teamed with an executive mentor each participant will get the help with improving their craft. The goal of this program is to prepare the writers for later employment in the television industry.  

HBO Access Writing Fellowship

HBO access writing fellowship is an eight-month program where participants are immersed in an intensive program that consists of once a week classes. In the course of the program, each participant will write a script suitable for HBO or Cinemax. 

NBC Universal Writers on the Verge Program

Writers on the Verge is a program that consists of weekly classes for polishing writers and helping them prepare for television staffing positions. These classes will help writers create exceptional material and will receive valuable feedback, as well as have a chance to interact with showrunners and industry executives.

NBC Late Night workshop focuses on exposing talented sketch and comedy writers to Universal's Late Night and Alternative lineup. This is a multi-day program and takes place in New York. Participating in this program will give you the tools you need to get ready for a staff writer's position.

National Hispanic Media Coalition TV Writers Program

The National Media Coalition TV Writers program is an intensive writing workshop that prepares specifically Latino writers for television writing jobs. This program was created in an effort to add more diversity and voices from different cultures in the writer's rooms.

Nickelodeon Writing Program

Writers participating in this program will work in writer's rooms, meet the series creators and generally will get to do a lot of hands-on experiences. Like writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas for both live action and animated shows.

Fox Writers Lab

The Fox Writers Lab program takes its participants through an immersive four-month program. It consists of classes where writers receive feedback and guidance on their scripts and guest speaker sessions with experienced writers, showrunners, and directors.

The Universal Writers program is a one-year curriculum that is designed to strengthen their creative approach. Participants will write feature-length scripts, improve their personal presentation skills, and gain overall knowledge of the studio production process.

Warner Bros. Writers’ Workshop

The Warner Bros. Writers' workshop is designed to help writers who are looking to further or start their career in television writing. This program consists of three components: weekly lectures, simulated writer's room,  guidance with staffing. The program runs October through April and meets once a week. 

Women In Film Episodic Lab

Women In Film Episodic Lab is specifically designed for female writers. 

The program consists of master classes taught by established writers and industry executives, peer workshops, and script development. This is a four-week program and participants meet twice a week. The writers will have their final pilots read by agencies and networks.
