I’ve posted this before, but I’M A HYPOCRITE. Especially with COVID, I have sunk more and more into my comfort zone of my own routine, in my house and working on my time. My smart and pushy friends (I say pushy with love) @rainykerwin and @angelacohen questioned if my comfort with the HUSTLE of Hollywood may be the reason I haven’t been HIRED to write or direct anything. The hard truth of that really resonated with me. I am very comfortable with writing my spec scripts everyday (spec for non-industry ppl means FOR FREE WITH THE HOPE IT WILL SELL), public speaking and pitching, sending cold emails, getting general meetings. I’m very comfortable with the hustle. But I have yet to turn any of the “hustle” into a job. So they pushed me to go out of my comfort zone. Alright... here I am, announcing publicly that I commit to doing 10 things that are out of my comfort zone. I’ll start with 10. Number 1 is publicly committing to this, so I am held accountable. I will share what it is I am doing. It may take some baby steps. I will need to push myself. Right now I have no idea what that will be and the comfortable me wants to plan it all out before publishing, so this is scary as shit. But everything, with action and practice gets easier/normalized. So, here we go.
