What's your favorite part of your new ordon Mario and why?
Tumblr media
Haha, its all good! My favourite part of the gigantic Ordon map that I had created, is actually two areas.
The first one being he White Bar Reefs of the Rito Isles.
Tumblr media
It's based on the Great Barrier Reefs here in Australia and it was one of the more satisfying parts to drawing with a blob of colour and then using the Lasso tool on Photoshop to carve out the swishing lines. And I was just so happy with the layering.
The second one is the gorge area of the Ilia River. Particularly Ludofalls and the nearby winding road (It's actually called the "Gorge Passage").
Tumblr media
That small area is actually based on a dream I once had when I first became obsessed with the Legend of Zelda.
In a short summary, I was Link in that dream. I was walking along a winding road that was carved through the mountain rocks with Wolfie at sunset. Arrived at a riverside stable/inn and timeskip to morning. Wolfie was gone and went looking for him when I saw a Zora guard standing next to the raging river. I went up to the Zora and text bubble appeared explaining about the mighty waterfall downstream. Something about being a "test of courage" of sorts. And that's when a quest marker appeared right above the Zora's head.
And as soon as I finished the conversation with the Zora... I immediately sprinted down along the raging river and as soon as I saw the edge of the cliff, I JUMPED and dived down into the air before deploying my Paraglider. And I remember how cinematically beautiful the gigantic waterfalls were. It was like a combination of Niagra Falls and Angel Falls. Like a gigantic white water curtain with mist around me and the view of a vast green plain beyond.
The quest was basejumping between floating rock platforms alongside the waterfall before landing on a platform in front of a Shrine at the waterfall's base. A lot more things happened in that dream but that's the inspiration of Ludofalls and the Gorge Passage road.

Unit 9 Blog Post
Interpret (through this blog) the most amazing thing you know about nature – get us excited. This is your blog – your audience isn’t out in the field with you so bring the field to your armchair reader.
As someone who loves geography and Earth processes, one of the most amazing things in nature to me is erosion. Erosion is the natural breaking of sediment and natural structures over time due to processes such as wind, moving water, and chemical reactions. The reason I love erosion is because often this process results in unique and breathtaking landscapes. One of my favourite natural landforms is the Niagara Escarpment, which was largely formed by erosion. I will discuss this landform further in hopes of exciting you by what our world has to offer and how close these beautiful areas may be thanks to various types of erosion.
The Niagara Escarpment is a region that spans throughout Ontario and the Southern USA; however, I am largely interested in the portion from Niagara Falls to Tobermory, ON. This escarpment is over 200 feet tall and was formed by sediment deposition and subsequent erosion over millions of years. Some notable areas that can be found along this escarpment are Niagara Falls, Elora Gorge, and Bruce Peninsula.
How did erosion help in the development of the escarpment? Essentially, the top layer of the escarpment is very strong rock that cannot be eroded easily. Below this, are much weaker rock types which can easily be broken down over time by various erosion processes such as water, wind, and chemicals. This leads to the beautiful and famous tourist regions mentioned above, as often this erosion causes large cliff structures and waterfalls.
To dive into the beauty of these areas I will start with Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is a very large waterfall located in Southern Ontario. This waterfall is very famous due to its large height, as well as the huge abundance of water that falls at any given moment. This natural wonder is extremely beautiful and was created by the same erosion of sediment over time.
The Elora Gorge is located only about 20km north of Guelph and is another location with beautiful scenery. This area has very tall cliff faces with a beautiful river running at the bottom. This steep valley was caused due to the river eroding over time, eventually all the way down to where it can be seen today. This area also is home to beautiful waterfalls thanks to the flow over the Niagara escarpment.
Another beautiful location along the Niagara escarpment is Bruce Peninsula National Park. On the Northern end of the Niagra Escarpment, you will find similar huge cliff faces, but this time, overlooking clear and vibrant blue waters. This area is famous for its beautiful swimming areas on gorgeous Georgian Bay.
Personally, I have been to all of these locations multiple times and I cannot express how truly beautiful they are. No picture or video will ever capture the overwhelming size, beauty, and detail that can be seen when visiting in person.

Top 16 Natural Wonders in India That You Shouldn’t Miss
Tumblr media
Think of India, and you’ll immediately think about the Taj Mahal, the Indian culture, monuments and streets brimmed with people.
For a country with so much geographical diversity, it’s a shame that India’s natural treasures get far less attention for a country with so much geographical diversity than all its other fronts. But not anymore!
From mountains to deserts to forests and caves, here are 16 stunning natural wonders that one should consider before planning a trip to India.
1. Pangong Tso Lake, Ladakh
Pangong Tso is the world’s highest saltwater lake, notable for its dramatic landscape and waters that change colours throughout the day.
A potential Ramsar Site, the lake stands in stark contrast to the arid mountain surrounding it and experiences a swarm of tourists every year.
2. Lonar Lake, Maharashtra
Located 500 km east of Mumbai is the beautiful Lonar Lake of Maharashtra. This basalt crater lake is 50,000-year-old and is drop-dead gorgeous.
Fringed by dense green forests and a handful of ancient temples, the lake presents an awe-inspiring view to anyone who visits it. Plus, its unique geological makeup makes it a must-visit natural wonder to see in 2021.
3. Needle Hole Point, Maharashtra
Tucked 7km from Mahabaleshwar is an aesthetic view of the Deccan trap that needs more attention.
A natural rock formation with a hole that looks like an elephant is what this fantastic site Needle Hole point offers. Come here to fall in love with nature and its exceptional creations.
4. Sand Dunes of Hunder, Himachal Pradesh
India’s cold desert, the Nubra Valley is located in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Beautiful, barren and unfathomably cold, the land features magnificent white vastness that can give other landscapes a run for their money.
Furthermore, its rolling expanse of dunes and Bactrian camels makes it a natural gem for the state and the country.
5. Borra Caves, Andhra Pradesh
Enroute Araku Valley is the vast million-years-old limestone Borra Caves that go 80 m into the earth’s crust.
This largest cave in India is famous for its graffiti-like illusions created by moss and algae clinging to rough erosions.
6.            Gandikota Canyon, Maharashtra
India has its own version of the Grand Canyon that no one talks about. This spectacular gorge formed by river Pennar is one of India’s most handsome pieces of nature’s architecture.
Apart from its natural boulder beauty, the gorge is also famous for its magnificent fort that sits atop this panoramic view.
7. Loktak Lake, Manipur
Do you know that there is a lake in India with the only floating national park of the world?
Undoubtedly, one of the most popular attractions in North-East India,  Loktak lake owes its ethereal beauty to the island lookalike swamps that harbours vegetation and wildlife.
8. Living Root Bridges, Meghalaya
Do you know that India is home to living and breathing rubber tree bridges that carry the local traffic even today?
The two living root bridges of Meghalaya are 500 years old. Located in Cherrapunji and Mawlynnong, the indigenous Khasi Tribe built the bridges by bonding the naturally occurring rubber tree with Betul nut trunks.
9. Bhedaghat  Marble Rocks, Madhya Pradesh
The Bhedaghat Marble Rocks is an 8 km stretch of the stunningly beautiful landscape set on River Narmada.
Laden with white, black and brown coloured marbles, the play of light and shadow by the sun on these marbles accords a kaleidoscope of unforgettable images.
10. Sangetsar Lake, Arunachal Pradesh
Surrounded by wonderfully lush green valleys and snow-capped mountains, Sangestar Tso is a beautiful freshwater lake that bejewels the state.
Often regarded as one of the most secluded lakes in India, the Sangetsar Lake is the epitome of purity on Earth according to the local Buddhists.
11. Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand
If there is heaven on earth, it has to be in the valley of flowers Uttarakhand.
A trekker’s paradise, Valley of flowers as the name suggests is a meadow of wonder laden with green carpets and flowers.
Not so easy to reach; this whimsical landscape is definitely a treat for the soul that you need to see at least once.
12. Hide and Seek Beach
Hide and seek beach or the Chandipur beach is a sprawling golden stretch of sand lined with Casuarina trees and lush coastal vegetation.
This mysterious beach got its name because the seawater here disappears and reappears periodically during the day. Doesn’t that make it a natural wonder?
13. Magnetic Hill, Ladakh
Do you know that objects and cars roll uphill defying gravity at Magnetic Hill?
The region is an optical illusion of sorts that makes the actual downhill road appear as if it is uphill. Plus, imagine all this happening with the gorgeous backdrop of Ladakh. We mean what else can one ask for?
14. Krishna’s Butterball, Tamil Nadu
Perhaps one of the rarest sights on Earth – India’s balancing rock is a formation that defies all laws of gravity.
This gigantic rock weighing over 250 tonnes rests on a slippery slope of a hill in Mahabalipuram looking as if it will fall any second. Interestingly enough, it never does.
15.          Rann of Kutch, Gujarat
Dissimilar to the rest of the region, Rann of Kutch is an unearthly salt marsh found in the northern part of Gujarat in the Thar Desert.
Despite being amid arid lands and harsh climate, Kutch has always been fertile with culture and diversity. A superb area for camel safari, wildlife escapades and cultural immersion, this land of multiple horizons is definitely a must-add bucket-list item.
16. Hogenakkal Fall
Also popular as the Niagra Falls of India, Hogenakkal Waterfalls brims with beauty and is famous for its healing power.
The carbonatite rocks found here are the oldest in South Asia and the world, when combined with the cascading waters, making for scenery that’s whimsical in every way possible.
These were our top natural wonders of India. If you are interested in other such places, tune in to our landscape of India blog. However, if you plan to book a trip to any of these places, ping us! We will happily help you.

Niagra Falls
It was a surreal experience standing atop of these world famous falls, hearing them roar from a distance, and feeling the mist on a windy and sunny day. It would be easy to spend an entire day just taking in the sounds and scenery of this monumental region. This is rightfully one of the most impressive attractions in Eastern North America that a person could seek out.
From the American side of Niagra Falls in New York, I started my day by parking on Goat Island in Niagra Falls State Park. I walked the edge of the island to get my first view of Horseshoe Falls, then continue toward the Cave of the Winds side to get to the top of America Falls. After crossing the bridge to the other side of the park, I took in more view before paying ~$20 to hop aboard one of the Maid of the Mist boats to venture to the bottom of the falls. The whole experience took just under an hour, and overall I had a fun time. The wind and water made it feel like some kind of hurricane simulator, and if not for the complimentary poncho, I would have been soaked head-to-toe. This also made it hard to see the falls clearly or take a decent photo. But I had to laugh at the intensity of it all. Afterwards, I took some more photos from the observation platform and began the walk back to my car so I could head north.
I decided to stop at Whirlpool State Park to do a little more hiking and get away from the commotion. Parking was free, along with some brochures laying out the trails. From the top of the gorge I got a good view of the blue rapids below and the Whirlpool Aero Car cablecar ride on the Canadian side. I hiked along the rim and down some steep stairs to the river’s edge, and after about 2 miles I was at the rocky pools below Whirlpool Point where others had gathered to rest by the water. Not exactly a thrilling hike (especially the climb back up the gorge), but it was good exercise and a nice escape from the crowds at Niagra.

Top Hikes on the North Shore
Tumblr media
Gooseberry Falls Hike, Two Harbors Take the one-mile handicap accessible hike in Gooseberry State Park to the iconic main falls. These falls were recently voted as the best fall hiking trails in Minnesota. Hikers will find smaller crowds in the morning or late afternoon hours. To reach the state park, follow Highway 61 northeast for 13 miles.
Split Rock River Loop, Two Harbors What makes this loop noteworthy is its unique red rhyolite rock towers near the boundary of the park, the beautiful overlook of Lake Superior and the river valley on the east side of the trail. While you’re hiking, keep an eye out for a peregrine falcon. Split Rock lighthouse is home to aeries of this once almost eradicated bird. Access the trail from Highway 61 northeast of Two Harbors at mile 43.5. Park on the left side of the highway.
Twin Lakes (Bean and Bear) Loop, Silver Bay This challenging loop trail goes up and down three maple-covered ridges where hikers will find spectacular views of Bean and Bear Lakes at the top. It can be accessed from two locations: from the Penn Boulevard trailhead outside of Silver Bay for a 6.8-mile hike or from the Silver Bay visitor Center located on Outer Drive for a 7.6-mile hike. Both will bring you to the Twin Lakes Loop.
High falls to Two Step Falls, Silver Bay View the 60-foot High Falls and Two Step Falls of the Baptism River on a difficult two-mile round-trip hike through Tettegouche State Park. Start at the trailhead in the park where the path will lead you to various overlooks of the High Falls, including one from a suspension bridge. Trails also give hikers the option to reach the base for a unique view of the falls. From the High Falls, hikers can continue their hike to the Two-Step Falls. As its name suggests, the fall has two drops. Both split and fall into a pool below.
Shovel Point, Silver Bay Take the half-mile trail from the Tettegouche visitor center along Shovel Point to see many breathtaking views of the lake-side cliffs, sea caves, inland bluffs, and the mouth of the Baptism River. Once hikers reach the end of the out-and-back trail, they will see views of Lake Superior’s seemly endless shoreline that will leave them awestruck.
Temperance River Falls Hike, Schroeder Hikers can see many beautiful waterfalls, pools, gorges and river potholes by hiking north of Highway 61 from the parking area along Highway 61. Hike as far as you like up the trail for views of the Temperance River cascades.
Beautiful fall colors on the Oberg Loop. Lutsen, Minnesota.[/caption]
Oberg Mountain Loop, Tofte The Oberg Mountain Loop is one of the most popular hikes on the North Shore, and rightly so! The two-mile loop circles the top of the mountain and brings hikers to a number of lookouts with spectacular views of Leveaux Mountain, Moose Mountain, Oberg Lake, and the Lake Superior Shoreline. Hike the loop counterclockwise for increasingly dramatic views. To access the trail, drive to the trailhead parking lot two miles north of Highway 61 on the Onion River Road.
White Sky Rock
Take the short but challenging one-third-mile hike from Caribou Trail to see a spectacular view of Caribou Lake and the surrounding Sawtooth Mountains. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue on the Superior Hiking Trail west to pristine Lake Agnes. There’s something about the shape of the lake and the beautiful overlooks that make this one of our favorite hikes any time of the year. To get there from Lutsen, take the Caribou Trail north for 3.9 miles. Park in the parking lot located on the right-hand side of the road near the boat ramp. After parking, cross Caribou Trail and begin the hike up the Superior Hiking Trail spur trail to White Sky Rock.
Eagle Mountain, The out-and-back trek up Eagle Mountain, Minnesota’s highest peak, is difficult, but worth it! The hike is seven miles round-trip and will bring you to places with spectacular views. The hike will take you past Whale Lake which is located halfway along the trail. From the peak, you’ll also be able to view Lake Superior. Since two-thirds of the trail lies within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, you’ll need to get a self-issued permit at the entry point before you begin hiking.
From Lutsen drive east (toward Grand Marais) and take a left onto Caribou Trail (County Road 4). Follow Caribou Trail until it ends. Turn right onto FR170. Drive 3.5 miles to the Eagle Mountain Trailhead. Park in the parking lot on the left-hand side of the road.
Honeymoon Bluff, Gunflint Trail This short half-mile trail takes hikers 200 feet above the beautiful Hungry Jack Lake. Since it is so short and the view is so great, hikers may feel like they’re cheating. Begin the hike on Clearwater Road (County Road 66). To get there from Grand Marais, take the Gunflint Trail for 27 miles and turn right onto Clearwater Road (County Road 66). Drive 3.25 miles.
Devil Track River Hike, Grand Marais/Gunflint Trail| This trail is known for its red cliffs and waterfalls. To access the trail, drive four miles east of Grand Marais on Highway 61 and turn left onto Lindskog Road. Drive one mile to the trail.
Devil’s Kettle Hike Hike along the Brule River in Judge C.R. Magney State Park to view the Upper, Devils Kettle and Lower Falls. Devils Kettle Falls is the most well-known of these three falls. The falls split in two with one side heading downstream and the other into a deep mysterious hole. No one knows where the water in this hole disappears. The hike to the falls is moderate in difficulty and requires hikers to ascend/descend 200 stairs. Begin at the state park’s main parking lot.
Grand Portage High Falls Hike, Grand Portage Take this easy one-and-half mile trail and boardwalk in Grand Portage State Park to Minnesota’s highest waterfall. The 120-foot falls of the Pigeon River is known by many as Minnesota’s Niagra Falls.
Cascade Vacation Rentals offers the largest selection of vacation rental homes, cabins, hotels and cottages on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Our rentals cover a large area from Duluth to Grand Portage and inland up the Caribou Trail, Gunflint Trail and throughout Cook County. A Love Letter
From the River Seine to the Pyramids of Giza, you have opened my eyes to new food, different cultures, and amazing experiences. You’ve afforded me the opportunity to stare out over Niagra Falls and speed on a four wheeler through The Red Desert as the sun sets.
You’ve introduced me to Austrian men who explained the merits of a fine wine spritzer. You’ve allowed me to gorge myself on the finest fondue in Switzerland; to spoil myself with a tasting of cordials.
Together, we’ve explored the Valley of the Kings and the Colosseum. We’ve drank liters at Hofbrauhaus and snacked on Stroopwafels by the sea. We’ve biked from Montmartre to the Latin District; the Red Light to Plantage.
You are a blessing, but you come with an obligation. An obligation to understand the significance of being a United States Citizen. To use my free speech to say when something is right, and more importantly when something is wrong. To use my vote at every opportunity. To remind my elected officials that reelection is not a guarantee and they must stand for what is just.
For all the joy you’ve provided me, I hope that I can serve you well.
