Consequences Chapter Eighteen: A.M. Imagine
After Auston left Tessa’s, he drove around for hours before ending end up at Mitch’s condo. Instead of going up, he texted Mitch and asked him to come downstairs. He wasn’t quite ready to deal with Steph yet.
When Mitch came down, all he needed was one look at his best friend’s red-rimmed eyes and forlorn face to know immediately that they had broken up. They stood there in the cold, leaning against Auston’s car, not speaking for a long while.
“So...” Mitch finally spoke, seeing his breath in the air. “That’s it?”
Auston nodded silently, hands tucked in his pockets, still staring at his shoes.
“She okay?”
Auston shook his head no.
“You okay?”
Auston sighed, and shrugged. “Been better, that’s for sure.”
“So now what?”
Auston finally turned and looked his best friend in the eye. Now what. He had no plan. He couldn’t see anything beyond Tessa for the past 6 months. That was the problem, wasn’t it? So now that she was out of the picture, everything should have been clear. That’s what he wanted. But...he couldn’t see anything.
“I don’t know,” Auston shrugged again. “I guess it just goes back to normal for a bit. Focus on hockey. Hang out with you guys.”
Mitch nodded, arms crossed tightly to keep himself warm. “Do you think she’ll ever talk to any of us again?”
“I hope so,” Auston answered honestly. Everyone loved Tessa, and he knew the team became like a second family to her.
“Me too,” Mitch agreed, putting a comforting hand on his friend’s shoulder. Tessa had become a big part of everyone’s life, his girlfriend included. He hoped that if anything, Tessa would be open to maintaining some of those relationships.
They stood there for a little while longer, neither knowing what more to say.
--
When Lydia got home, Tessa was curled up in a ball under a blanket on their sofa, watching The First Wives Club.
Oh boy, Lydia thought. The First Wives Club was one of their mutual comfort movies. She gently placed her bags down, slipped her shoes off, and moved slowly into the living room. Tessa didn’t move an inch.
“T?” Lydia whispered gently. As she reached the sofa, she placed her hand on Tessa’s back. Tessa looked up at her, eyes glassy, and she knew immediately. “Oh, Tessa,” Lydia sighed.
She climbed further on the couch, spooning Tessa, arms wrapped tightly around her. As Tessa broke down, body wracked with sobs, Lydia felt tears slip out of her own eyes.
Damnit.
--
The next morning, everyone was steering clear of Auston at the rink. They didn’t know what happened the night before but they knew something was going on. He didn’t speak so much as grunted in response, skated harder than anyone had seen before, ripped shots with more force than necessary, and was basically a walking/skating sign of ‘Do Not Cross’.
Mitch could feel some questioning glances directed at him from the guys, but all he could do was shrug and shake his head. They’d find out sooner than later.
As they headed back to the locker room, Morgan held Mitch back a bit. “What’s up, Mo?”
“It’s over, isn’t it?” Morgan whispered knowingly. He had hoped Auston would have taken the time to really think about this decision and decide to work on things, but it was pretty obvious that wasn’t the case.
“Yeah,” Mitch nodded. “Last night.”
Mo shook his head sadly. He liked Tessa a lot, and he knew Auston loved her. This was going to be a rough one.
“Have you talked to her?”
“No,” Mitch shook his head. “I wanted to give her some time. I told Steph last night and I know she reached out to Tess, but last I heard Tess hadn’t responded.”
“Might be a while before any of us hear from her,” Morgan guessed, making his way to the locker room.
As they entered the room and headed to their stalls, they learned pretty quickly that they would be hearing from Tessa very soon. Painfully soon for some of the parties involved.
“What’s this?” Mitch asked, noticing an envelope in his stall. Morgan shrugged, seeing an envelope in his as well.
“We’ve been recruited to help out with a Launchpad event in a couple weeks,” Willy showed his own letter.
“All of us?” Morgan asked.
“No, looks like it’s just you, Johnny, Mitchy, Matts, and I,” Willy answered. “Matts, what is your girl getting us into this time?”
Mitch and Morgan turned to Auston who was staring at his letter. They watched as he balled it up, and tossed it in the trash can at the centre of the room.
“I wouldn’t know,” Auston grunted angrily. He furiously tossed his things in his bag and stalked out the door, no other words spoken.
Willy glanced curiously at Mitch and Morgan. “What's with him?”
Mitch and Morgan sighed and started packing up. “You don’t wanna know,” Mitch answered sadly.
This was going to suck.
--
“Shit, shit, shit,” Tessa muttered to herself, head in her hands at her desk. “Are you sure they were already delivered?” she barked at Sadie, one of the Launchpad volunteers.
“Uh, yes, just this morning,” Sadie answered cautiously. “Was there something wrong with the letters?”
“Do you know who they picked?” Tessa demanded, ignoring Sadie’s question.
“They let the coach pick,” Sadie replied. “They said they’d let us know today so we can make any arrangements we need.”
Tessa sighed and rubbed her hands against her tired and sore eyes. If she slept an hour last night, she just did. When she finally got herself into the shower and ready for work, she knew this was going to be a long day.
“Okay, thanks Sadie,” she said sincerely. “I’m sorry for speaking to you that way. You haven’t done anything wrong.”
Sadie nodded, knowing how unlike Tessa the outburst was. “I can let you know as soon as I know?” she offered timidly.
Tessa nodded, offering a small smile. “Thanks,” she said. She waved in tiny as Sadie exited her office, closing the door behind her.
At the sound of the click, Tessa dropped her head to her desk, landing on a stack of paperwork for the upcoming event.
Launchpad was hosting an all-around “skills” event for kids with players from each major Toronto sports organization, recruiting 4 players from each team. It was basically a mini All-Stars game for kids. And she knew, as much as she hoped against it, that there was no way the coach wouldn’t pick his star player to participate in such a front-facing community event for kids.
Which meant her goal to avoid Auston for as long as possible was being squashed in less than two weeks. Great.
About twenty minutes later, Tessa got the call from Sadie that she had been dreading. Of course she wasn’t surprised. She had half a mind to call Auston and ask him to make up an excuse and hand the invite off to someone else, but she couldn’t do that to the kids who would be at the event. So, she was just going to have to suck it up. It was one day, that was it, right? That’s what she kept telling herself at least.
She was still buried in paperwork when a soft *knock knock* came on her door.
“Come in,” she called, barely looking up from the files on her desk when Lydia entered.
“Hey chicky,” Lydia called back softly. “I come baring gifts,” she held up coffee and a muffin.
Tessa smiled weakly at her. “What are you doing here?” she chastised. Lydia was just as busy with work and school as she was. She didn’t need to be wasting her time checking in.
“I figured your day might be a little stressful and wanted to bring you some treats,” Lydia shrugged, plopping herself down in a seat across from Tessa, who was staring at her disapprovingly. “Don’t give me that look. Judging by your desk, I can see your day is going well?”
Tessa sighed and pushed away the stacks of paper to grab her hot coffee. “You remember that All-Star style event I was telling you about?”
“Mhm,” Lydia nodded.
“Guess who’s going to be there?” Tessa raised her eyebrows over her coffee.
“Ah fuck,” Lydia groaned. She completely forgot about the event. “So what? Ask him to give it to someone else.”
“I can’t do that,” Tessa shook her head. “The kids love him, I can’t be the reason they don’t get to see him.”
“They love all of the players, Tess,” Lydia replied. “I think he can miss this one event.”
“Well I can’t ask him to do that regardless,” Tessa sighed. “It’s unprofessional. The least I can do is maintain a professional working relationship with the team, even if I don’t want anything else to do with them.”
“I was really hoping you wouldn’t say that,” an unexpected voice came from the doorway, causing both girls to jump.
Seeing Mitch standing there, a hesitant look on his face, almost made Tessa burst into tears.
“What are you doing here?” Lydia demanded harshly. He might not have been the one to break her best friend’s heart, but his close association with the person who did was enough for her.
“Probably the same thing you are,” Mitch answered easily. He expected a little push back, but Tessa was his friend too. “Came to see this one,” he nodded to Tessa.
“I’m fine, Mitch,” Tessa answered dismissively. “Did he send you here to check on me?”
“No,” Mitch answered honestly. “Considering he’s not really talking to anyone today, he doesn’t even know I’m here.”
“He’s not talking to anyone?” Lydia exasperated, standing up to face Mitch. “He does what he does then acts like the wounded puppy? He has some fucking nerve.”
“Lydia-” Tessa tried to interject.
“He’s hurting too, you know,” Mitch defended. “He’s not some heartless monster. You know just as well as I do how much he lo-”
“Oh, don’t even get me started,” Lydia laughed sarcastically. “He’s hurting too? Do you even hear yourself right now? He broke her hear-”
“Enough!” Tessa slammed her hands on her desk in frustration, startling her friends. She didn’t have the capacity for this today. “Enough, please.”
Lydia and Mitch shared a look and watched as Tessa sank back into her chair, the weight of the world on her shoulders.
“Sorry, Tessa,” they both said in unison. Lydia went to give Mitch a dirty look but was interrupted by her phone buzzing in her pocket. She pulled it out and sighed.
“You have to go,” Tessa said knowingly. Lydia nodded regretfully. “I’m okay, Lydia. Besides, you’ll get to go all Mama Bear on me when I’m home later anyway so you’re not missing out on anything.”
“I’ll see you later, babe,” she reached across the desk to squeeze Tessa’s cold hands. “And you,” she pointed to Mitch warningly, “you better not be here to defend your friend.”
Mitch held his hands up in surrender. Lydia rolled her eyes, waved goodbye, and walked out the door, shutting it behind her. When she was gone, Mitch took the opportunity to sit in the seat across from Tessa.
“What are you doing here, Mitch?” Tessa demanded.
“Well, after seeing the state of my best friend this morning, I figured you might not be holding up much better,” he shrugged. “I wanted to see you.”
“Well you’re seeing me,” Tessa laughed ruefully. “What else can I do for you?”
“T, don’t do this,” Mitch shook his head. “We’re friends too, aren’t we?”
Tessa nodded sadly.
“Then why can’t think just be a friend checking in on a friend?”
“It’s not that simple, and you know it,” Tessa replied.
“Maybe so, but I wanted you to know that I’m here for you too,” Mitch offered. “And so is Steph, who I know is worried sick about you right now.”
Tessa looked at her hands guiltily. She ignored all of Steph’s messages.
“Mitch, I really appreciate the effort, I do,” Tessa sighed. “But this is a lot, okay? It hasn’t even been 24 hours. I have this ridiculous event to plan-”
“I wanted to talk to you about that too,” Mitch cut in. “Auston is going to be there.”
Tessa dropped her head into her hands on her desk and took a deep breath. “I know,” she muttered, not lifting her head. “I didn’t pick him.”
“I figured,” Mitch replied. “I don’t think he’s super into going either, so maybe we can see if someone can replace him?”
Tessa raised her head slowly and gave Mitch a once over, needing him to be a mind reader. Mitch sighed.
“Yeah, I know,” he relented. “He has to go for the kids.”
“Is he trying to get out of it?”
“No!” Mitch was emphatic. “He wouldn’t do that. But he knows he hurt you, Tess. I’m sure he’s worried about what him being there does to you.”
“It won’t do anything to me,” Tessa shook her head. “This is exactly one of the risks I knew I was taking by getting involved with him. Regardless of personal feelings, I have to put that aside and be professional. I have to be there so I will suck it up.”
“I really am sorry, Tessa,” Mitch offered. He hated his best friend, just a little, for what he did to this sweet girl.
Tessa sighed for what felt like the millionth time, a tear slipping out and running down her cheek. “Thanks,” she replied weakly. “Mitch, I appreciate you coming by, but I really do have a lot to do.”
Mitch nodded, understanding. He had probably already been there for much longer than she preferred. Standing up, he reached over and squeezed her hand.
As he got to the door, he turned around before leaving. “Tess?”
Tessa glanced up from a file on her desk. “Mm?”
“I really did mean it. We’re your friends too, so don’t forget that,” Mitch said sincerely. “When you’re ready, we’ll be here, okay?”
Tessa gave a nod and offered a small smile.
“Okay.”

things i didn’t tell you - alex turcotte request: alex finds out you had it BAD for jack before yall started dating word count: 1985
_____________________
you walk down the steps of the hughes household, something you’ve done dozens upon dozens of times before having grown up with all three of the hughes brothers, to see five of your best friends: jack, cole, trevor, spencer, and of course your boyfriend, alex.
“nice of you to show up, isn’t it?” jack chirps from the couch, craning his neck so he can look up at the stairs where you were.
you roll your eyes, “sorry, blame lex. he didn’t feel like waiting for me to get out of the shower and he bailed.” you narrow your eyes at alex who offers you a boyish smile. once you get close enough he pulls you down onto his lap. he goes to kiss your cheek but you push him away causing some of the boys to chuckle.
“babe,” alex whines and you shake your head, arms crossing over your chest. “you take like, thirty minute showers! i didn’t wanna miss this game.”
“no, i get it, i see where i stand, the leafs game is more important than i am. it’s cool.” you grumble. obviously you’re playing, it wasn’t that big of a deal that you had to drive to jack’s alone, but spending the extra fifteen minutes with alex would’ve been nice. both of you knew your limited time together was coming to an end.
“i can’t believe this is one of our last times we all get to hang out,” cole says, breaking the silence that had fallen over your group.
“i know, it’s like just yesterday we were all juniors playing our first game together, going to russia, hanging out for the first time. it’s crazy how times fly,” spencer adds on. you get comfortable in alex’s lap, leaning your head back to kiss underneath his jaw. he smiles down at you and you can’t help but to smile right back at him. “so many crazy things have happened over the years.”
thinking of all the stupid shenanigans you’d managed to pull with the boys makes you start to laugh, along with the rest of the boys in the room with you. sure, you and jack had managed to pull many more, and you had a special connection that was like a tag team duo when it came to pranking or messing around with the boys.
“god, remember when jack and y/n/n almost became a thing?” cole asks, and immediately you feel your cheeks burn and your gaze is fixated on jack’s. you’re both staring at each other like deer stuck in the headlights, and neither of you know what to do.
alex’s hands that found their way around your waist slowly pull away from you. “what?” he asks, and then all of the attention is on you and alex.
of course you hadn’t told alex - you didn’t have to. you and jack were barely even sixteen years old. you had been smitten for that boy since you were eight years old, so when the two of you almost dated? that was something new, and possibly not in a good way.
“yeah, y/n/n had it bad for j and j had it just as bad for y/n/n,” trevor speaks up from the other end of the couch, and if looks could kill you knew he would be six feet under by now.
“oh really?” alex scoffs. “well, this is news to me.”
“trevor, shut up,” you say, and trevor holds his hands up in defense.
“no, no. keep going, tz. i wanna hear about this.”
“alex,” jack says warningly. “we were sixteen. it meant absolutely nothing, and plus, she’s with you now. you can’t be too upset about that, can you?”
alex’s eyes narrow, looking between you and jack. “i can’t be too upset about it? knowing my girlfriend and best friend almost dated? i’m sorry, i feel like that’s something i should’ve known.”
alex’s hands meet your waist again, but this time they aren’t there for long. he moves you off his lap and he stands up. you try and grab his wrist but he waves you off. “lex, why are you so upset?”
“forget it. i’ll just text you later. i’m going up to my room.” alex grumbles, silently moving past everyone and going back upstairs.
you huff and sink back into the couch, eyes moving towards cole who’s trying to sit innocently. you and jack both glare at him and he frowns. “guys, i’m sorry! i didn’t know he’d react like that.”
“well we weren’t sure how he would react, so we didn’t tell him in the first place,” jack says and you agree with him.
“and it isn’t like it’s important information, cole. and now he’s upset. we were sixteen. alex was already butthurt enough when he found out jack and i were technically each other’s first kisses when we were nine.” you turn to trevor, who immediately his eyes widen like saucers. “and you.”
“me?” trevor asks, voice raising at least five octaves. “is it my cue to run?”
“i’d say so, yeah,” spencer says. you make a sudden movement and trevor flinches back. “tz, chill out.”
“yeah tz, chill out.” you roll your eyes and stand up. “and now, if you guys don’t mind me, i have to go make my boy feel better.”
even though you’ve barely been in the basement for three minutes, you’re headed up the stairs of the basement and then up toward where alex’s room is. his door is closed and you don’t even bother knocking, you walk right in and see him laying on his side, phone in hand facing the fall.
“go away, jack. i really don’t want to talk to you right now.” alex grumbles, not even bothering to look up. you sigh and carefully walk into his room, sitting down on his mattress and lightly placing your hand on his arm, he turns his head. “y/n, i don’t really wanna ta-”
“lex, will you let me talk? let me get things straight?” you ask softly. alex lets out a sigh and he slowly sits up. “thank you, love.” his silence lets you know he’s listening even though he’s looking down in his lap. you cross your legs and sit as close as possible as you can. “j and i have been friends for a really long time, you know that?” alex nods. “good. i’m gonna be honest with you, i had the biggest crush on him when we were growing up. he was my older brother figure, and i had two more out of quinn and luke, the hughes were my second family.
“jack saw me as just an annoying little sister up until we were like, fifteen. but i didn’t know that. i didn’t know that until you came to live with him here, and i guess when he noticed we started becoming friends he wanted to actually tell me he liked me. but we couldn’t do that to our friendship, we had been friends for way too long to risk throwing away all of it. we almost happened, but we didn’t. and i’m happy we didn’t, you wanna know why?”
“why?” alex manages to croak out, his eyes slowly raising to meet your gaze.
“because then i started dating you, bubby. and the past year and a half have been the best months of my life, you know that? i’m so, so happy that jack and i didn’t try anything, because honestly him and i wouldn’t last this long, i’m sure. but you and me did, and i can see us together for a while longer.”
you grab one of alex’s hands and hold them in both of yours as he sighs. “i just, y/n, you don’t realize how hard this is. jack told me he’s never seen you as more than just a friend, because yeah, i’ve always been jealous of how close you two are. the bond you two have. because we could never have anything quite like you and jack have and it kills me to think about it. he’s everything i’m not.”
“alex turcotte, you did not just say that.” you say, throwing a leg over alex’s lap and situating yourself on his lap. you place both of your hands lightly on his cheeks forcing him to look at you. “lex, you are everything. you’re my amazing, handsome, crazy talented at hockey best friend and boyfriend all in one. and that’s pretty amazing.”
“jack is your best friend, y/n. you don’t have to try and tell me otherwise,” alex grumbles, pushing both of your hands away from his face. “i see how excited you get talking about jack, your best friend, and how he’s supposed to be mr. first overall. because it’s jack. your best friend.”
“is that what this is about, alex? are you just jealous?” you whisper, letting your shoulders drop defeated. because you knew there was no way you’d be able to help him with this - this was his own doing. you can only make yourself feel the way that you do. that’s no one else’s influence, and you sure as hell knew if you tried to help it wouldn’t work.
“i’m incredibly jealous, y/n,” alex chuckles, eyes rolling ever so slightly. he shakes his head. “he’s gotten everything. the amazing life. amazing coaching growing up. amazing opportunities. had personal trainers. he got to know you for so much longer. he almost got you too. he’s got it good and sometimes he takes it for granted and he gets so, so cocky about it. and now what does he get? first overall. when we know anyone in the first round has the potential to do better than him their rookie year.”
alex can’t quite meet your eyes and you can’t quite meet his. you figured he must’ve been holding it in for a while - a long time - and now that he finally cracked you weren’t sure what to say.
“lex,” you mumble. “i didn’t know you felt that way.”
alex finally meets your gaze, and when he does you nearly crumble. there are tears forming in his eyes and he looks absolutely defeated. “no one did,” he manages to croak out, and all you can do is lean into his chest and wrap your arms around his neck.
“alex, i love you more than anything.” you mumble into his chest.
“i know you do, and i trust you do, but it’s so hard to make myself believe that when jack’s your best friend. and now that i know you guys almost dated? it’s even harder. because he’s gotten everything i’ve ever wanted. and the fact he almost got the girl of my dreams? the girl i want to spend forever with, you? well love, it’s even worse.”
you draw away from alex’s chest slowly, “lex, what did you say?” you asked quietly.
sure, you and alex had been dating for quite some time. but you didn’t necessarily talk too much about the future like you probably should have. of course you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, but hearing him say it out loud? while you were too scared to mention it to him, afraid he didn’t feel the same way?  that was a whole nother story. a weight lifted off your shoulders.
“i wanna spend the rest of my life with you, love. i thought that was pretty obvious to you by now.” alex tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear and you smile, a blush dusting across your cheeks.
“good, because you’re the only boy i want to spend the rest of my life with, alex turcotte.”

11 Blocks Part 5
(i promise to drop some actually well written content soon. for now, hopefully part 5 gets all of you excited about the series again) Jake’s entire face dropped.
“Jake,” you exclaimed as you reached for his hand. His eyes went dark. The colour mimicked the irises that surround him in the garden. He pulled his hand away and stormed out.
“Jake, please wait,” you ran after him. “Miss! Miss!” the wedding planner panicked, “where are you going? Oh, dear.”
“Jake, please talk to me. I never meant for this to happen. Please.”  you grabbed his arm to pull him towards you.
Jake bit his lip and shook his head. “I guess I only have myself to blame. I was naive enough to send you to him,” he let out an ironic chuckle to hold back tears. His tongue traced the inner outline of his lips. How could you have let yourself hurt him?
You began to cry. You didn’t dare look in his eyes. “I am so sorry, Jake,” you cried, “You have to believe me.”
Jake looked up at the sky and rubbed his face with his hands. “I need to be alone,” he said and walked away.
“Thank you so much for letting me come here. I had no idea who to call,” you said. You sat across from Travis’ best friend, hands folded on your knees. When Jake left the garden, you froze. It took you a moment to ran after him but your delayed reaction failed you. Jake was long gone by the time you reached the parking lot.
You didn’t think it was a good idea to immediately go to Travis, and you were not in the mood to be judged by your friends.
“It’s all good,” Nolan mumbled awkwardly. He rubbed his hands together and searched for something to say, “Do you want a drink? Alcoholic obviously. You seem like you need it.” Nolan was never very talkative.  You nodded yes and he scurried to the kitchen. When you dated Travis you saw Nolan often - naturally- but never developed a friendship. However, you did learn that he was extremely kind. His tough exterior only prevented people from learning that.
“So…what do you think you’re going to do?” he shouted from around the corner.
You had no idea what your next steps would be. First off, you knew there was no way you could just end things with Jake. The two of your had built a beautiful full of mutual trust, respect, and support. Together, you shared all your dreams and ambitions. Six months into dating, you moved into a lovely apartment that was now filled with many memories. Small trinkets and knick-knacks of your relationship contrasted the sharp, edgy and modern decor. You would hate to let go of all that.
“I honestly have no idea, Patty.”
“Are you going to talk to Travis?”
“I mean, I’ll have to eventually.”
“TK’s great, but you seem really upset over this Jake dude.” You laughed and took a sip of your gin & tonic.
“You know Y/N, I’m not some relationship guru but I did read this quote once,” Nolan began hesitantly. When he saw your look of approval, he continued, “It was something like ‘you might meet your soulmate in this life but that doesn’t mean you’ll be with them forever.’”
You were surprised by the words that left Nolan’s mouth. Honestly, you were extremely grateful for the fact that Nolan was trying to help you determine your next steps in his “Nolan-y” way. There was an undeniable connection between you and Travis- passion. If you were being completely honest, you never felt that passion with Jake. With Travis, everyday was a new adventure. Being with Travis felt like you were 16 again. Butterflies in your stomach whenever you saw him but, could he be the serious partner you now sought?
“I should get moving. Patty, thank you so much.” You hugged the giant and he stiffened.
“Yeah. Dude. Sure, no problem.”
It was now around 6 pm - a solid 8 hours after your flower appointment with Jake, and you knew you had to confront Travis.
“I told him,” you began as you settled yourself onto Trav’s couch. Travis leaned in to kiss you, his arms on either side of your face holding onto the back of the couch.  You reached out and brought him closer, the kiss getting more passionate in a matter of seconds.  Guilt set in your stomach.
“Travis, stop.” You pushed him back and got off the couch. You walked to the other side of the room, torn. “It’s not that easy, Travis.”
“You can’t keep doing this to me, Y/N.”
“I can’t just leave him, Trav! I can’t just wipe my hands clean and move along.”
“You had no problem doing that to me.”
Travis’ words stung. Your decision to walk away from the relationship three years ago was not easy. For months you debated pushing through your anxiety and not just giving up.
“That’s not fair. You know what wasn’t easy for me. Trav, I suffered a lot because of those rumours.” “Yes, and you didn’t even let me help you. You decided to walk away and you did.”
You leaned against the kitchen counter, and pushed your forehead into the slightly open cupboard. Never did you expect to find yourself in a love triangle. Whenever you watched a film or read a book that placed the main character in between two meaningful relationships, you scoffed. How could choosing someone be that hard? Well, it was your turn to learn- between a rock and a hard place. “Travis, Jake and I have an entire wedding planned in less than two months. I don’t get to play runaway bride just because we slept together a couple times.” Travis looked at your in disbelief. Honestly, you couldn’t believe that you just said that. Travis grabbed his keys off his kitchen counter and headed for the door.  “I didn’t mean that,” you tired to defend yourself. “I’m just so stressed-”
“I think we should stop seeing each other,” Travis cut you off, “Clearly that’s not an issue for you.You left once, let’s see you do it again.”

HELP ME PLEASE
Don’t you just hate it when you see a fic you wanna read, so you like it to read it later. But then you go to your likes later and don’t see it anywhere? Yeah.. that’s my life right now. I can’t really remember what tag I saw it under. All I remember is in the warnings it said something about women in the nhl and maybe smut? I also want to say there was more warnings, but I’m not to sure. It also didn’t have a pic or gif attached to it. I saw it yesterday if that’s any relevant.
I was really looking forward to reading it. If you find it or think you’ve found it PLEASE TAG ME IN IT.

New Home, New Threads:
This is my first one guys give me a break please and constructive criticism is welcome! Part 2 is coming eventually if people want it.
Introduction
Buffalo, N.Y. That’s where I’m from. Small city, bad sport teams. When people ask where that is, I usually just say near Canada. It’s easier that way. I grew up watching live sports, so Freshman year of college I declared a major in math and a minor in sports management. Seemed simple enough. Junior year came by fast and I had to pick an internship program I wanted to apply for. My advisor had a connection in Ann Arbor for one of the teams, so I lucked out with a guaranteed transfer program with housing and a grant, as well as a quick 5 hour drive home to visit my family. Summer break came to an end, I began preparing for my move to the Midwest. Most of the fall sports start a month prior to the academic year starting, so while my summer got cut short, I didn’t really have any reason left to stay in town.
Part One:
BF/N: “how much long you got eh?”
Y/N : “GPS says about 3 hours? Are you sure you’re fine coming up next weekend to help unpack? I don’t even know where I’ll be living yet, it might still be in the hotel”
BF/N: “When has me visiting you ever been a problem. I’m sure we’ll find some fuck shit to do and end up drunk by 1am anyways. Whether I’m there or not”
Y/N : “Good point haha” I was hoping on her way across Canada she’d stop at the LCBO and get some cheap Smirnoff for the weekend, but worst case I still had a couple bottles of wine in my trunk from last girls night. “Just let me know when you’re on the road, and I’ll give you an address once I get one. The coordinator hasn’t even emailed me back yet about my room, so hopefully they remembered”
BF/N: “No way. Maybe it’ll be a group house for all the other interns. I gotta go though, I picked up an early shift at work. F/N wouldn’t stop complaining about how he needed coverage for the weekend.”
She rolled her eyes and made a gagging face. Obvious disgust from F/N’s constant complaining about their schedule. Nothing new.
I hung up the call and crossed my feet, kicking the car into cruise control. I had no idea what to expect, my advisor who helped me get this transfer gave no detail other than the pure belief that this was something I’d enjoy.
• 3 hours later •
I take the exit for Ann Arbor and drive through the small city. Smaller than buffalo, definitely. I’ve been here once before with BF/N but we didnt stay long since the weather was absolute shit. And no surprise, it was still shit today. I attempt to parallel park my car on one of the side streets just outside of the center of campus. I had the name of one building and one person in the city, now it was time to find them.
I wander into the Ross School of business and look at the directory on the wall. I’m soaking wet from the rain, my hair has gone from straight to curled in the matter of minutes, and I can feel my anxiety setting in. Rick Bancroft - 4th floor room 209. I take the stairs. Despite wandering into the building, he isn’t expecting me for another hour, so I have time to kill.
I gently knock on the door. It’s shut and the hall is quiet. He might be out to lunch. I wait a second, and no sound. I turn around, fully prepared to sit on my phone for an hour until I hear back from him. Right as I step away, the door opens and out walks a tall brunette and brown eyed masterpiece. I look down and step back a few strides. My 5’4 slender frame is minuscule next to his 6’4 and muscular body. He looks me up and down, then looks behind him at the larger man standing in the doorway who’s glaring at him. Tall brunette looks back at me and raises one eyebrow, turning and walking away.
Rick: “You must be Y/N, don’t mind Jack. He’s just upset about this mornings practice. Come on in.”
I walk into his office and take a seat. It’s filled with framed pictures of him with hockey players and jerseys. And of course “go blue” is plastered on all the walls.
Rick: “how was the drive? 5 hours right?”
Y/N : “yeah, 5 hours. It wasn’t too bad, I’ve made the drive before”
Rick: “before you left did your advisor give you the letter I sent him with the specifics of what your transfer here includes? Or did he leave for summer break before he could give it to you”
Y/N: he must have forgot before he left. Quite frankly, I have no clue what this transfer includes. Just the outline of what I’m here for. I don’t think I’ve even been assigned a room yet.
Rick: oh I’ll take care of that. Just a few calls and we’ll find you a place no problem. Come on, I’m taking you on a tour of the campus. There’s a lot to see, Y/N

Doubts//Andre Burakovsky
Request: Can I request one for Burakovsky? Maybe like, you’ve been together for a while and when you meet his family his younger sister doesn’t like you?
So I don’t know his sisters name so I just didn’t use one.
Sorry this was so late! And HORRIBLE. I was studying for finals all week :(
Tumblr media
“What am I going to say Andre?” I said pacing back and forth across our bedroom. “We’ll just tell them the truth, Babe” he said stepping in front of me stopping my pacing. “It’s not just the team, dre” I mumbled. “you’re over thinking this, Y/N” He said pulling me into a hug. “I don’t think that I am, Andre. Imagine being me. Meeting your parents and sister and telling them ‘Oh nice to meet you, I’m Y/N your sons YOUNGER girlfriend, oh and don’t let me forget I’m also 4 months pregnant.” I ranted at Andre pointing down at my small but obvious bump. “We will be okay just wear a lose top and we’ll tell them that we wanted to tell them in person and that’s why we waited. And, you’re only 3 years younger than me you’ll be fine” Andre said smiling down at me. “Okay, we’ll see how this goes”
Andre and I walked into the restaurant, thankfully we got there before his family did so I could sit down hiding behind the table. They sat down across from us creating small talk. “Mom, dad, this is y/n my girlfriend. Y/n this is my mom, dad, and sister” he said pointing to each of us. “It’s so nice to meet you guys, Andre always talks so fondly of you” I smiled putting my hand out for them to shake. We were almost done with lunch when I felt Andre’s hand on my bump signalling that he thinks it’s time to tell them. “We have something to tell you” he said looking over at me. “Y/n’s pregnant” I looked at him with wide eyes surprised at how rushed he just said that. “Oh my gosh! that’s great! his dad smiled. “I’m going to be a Grandma!” His mom gushed standing up from her seat to pull me into a hug. She pulled away from the hug looking down to my belly. “Can I?” she asked a hand hovering over my small bump. I pulled my lose top up showing my skintight tank top. She placed her hand on my belly “the baby has started kicking I’m surprised he or she isn’t” I laughed as she sat back down in her chair.
Andre’s parents wanted to do some baby shopping so we went to the mall. Andre and his dad were in the Nike store so his mom, his sister, and I decided to walk down to the baby store and look at clothes. When we got to the store I was walking around looking at cribs when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Andre’s sister. “Hey, wanna help me pick out a crib?” I asked trying to get her involved. She’s seemed pretty shy during lunch. “No actually I don’t” she muttered. “What?” I asked not sure if heard the right thing. “I want to know why you’re with him” she said looking me up and down. “I love him, and he loves me” I said trying to understand what she was getting at. “I just think it’s weird that we’ve never met you and all of a sudden you’re pregnant” “I uh... Andre and I have been together for almost a year, the baby wasn’t planned but we’re happy” I said leaning against the crib. “To be honest, I think you’re whole story is complete bullshit but whatever” she said walking away.
I was sitting in our apartment waiting for Andre to get back from dropping his family off at their hotel. When he walked in he threw his keys on the table and sat down beside me. I debated on telling him what his sister said to me or not. “Hey, babe” I said turning my body to face him. His hand was on my belly almost instantly. “I talked to your sister today” I looked up to his face trying to gauge what his response might be. “You don’t need to tell me, she already talked to me about it” he said quietly. “She thinks you’re using me” he looked at my bump. “I don’t know why she thinks that. I’m not I love you with all my heart” I said lightly pulling his chin up so we were making eye contact. “Andre... I know your family means the world to you, but please don’t let her get into your head” I pleaded. Andre looked at me with sad eyes before pulling me into a passionate kiss. “I love you, Y/N.” “I love you too”

OMG that “I cant sleep” NP imagine is everything!! PLEASE do a part two!! (I love your writing if you couldn’t tell!)
Okay! Nonnie… I love you so much (and this series) that I had a breakdown when I lost the first version of this. We’ll call that a rough draft… rough of my mood and rough to bounce back from.
But you know what… this grease monster… He’s worth it.
Stay the Night Part 2
Word Count: 1639
Stay with You: Part One  Part Three Part Four
Tumblr media
You laughed at his comment about TK and brushed off the feeling his touch had caused, but your skin still tingled where he’d touched it. You clamped down on the gasp as soon as you could, but it was audible even over Nolan’s quip about Teeks.
He hummed softly and you could almost hear the smile on his face. “What was that?” He asked, his fingers dancing across your waist with the lightest touch. “I didn’t catch that.”
His touch sent a shiver through your body, involuntary. It was frustrating how easily you reacted to him considering until recently you’d been able to ignore and even hide your feelings for him. “Nothing,” you said swatting his hand away. “I’m tired and you’re distracting.”
His hand didn’t move from its spot on your hip, where it had come to rest like you’d wanted it to. His grip tightened slightly, and he pulled you a bit closer. “I could be distracting in other ways,” he offered, lips a breath away from your ear.
Your eyes closed and a soft sigh slipped from your lips. You didn’t understand what was happening or what had gotten into him, but you didn’t dare to trust that this wasn’t just him messing with you. Or worse, a dream. Perhaps you had finally fallen asleep and this was the cruelness of your imagination realized. “Nol, stop,” you told him, pulling away from him a little. Not enough to break contact but enough to be able to look back at him. Your eyes searching his. “What has gotten into you?”
There was a flash of something behind his blue eyes, an emotion you recognized but not one you understood the context of. Not when it was Nolan. His eyes were always the most expressive thing about him, but if you didn’t know to look, you wouldn’t notice it. He could be so focused, so level. People often said he was flat and emotionless. It couldn’t be farther from the truth.
“Nothing, I just…” He trailed off, his hand slipping from your waist. “It’s late. We should sleep.”
Your eyes narrow dangerously as he brushes past you, annoyance spiking in your sleep deprived state. You were never very good at handling being tired. You got grumpy and cranky and people generally gave you a wide berth. Nolan should have known this.
“No, you’re not getting off that easy, Nol. You don’t get to tease me like that and then just… stop.”
“You’re the one that told me to stop,” he countered.
His point hit the mark and you stop in your tracks, words failing you. “I just… I don’t want to be teased. It’s not nice and I’m too tired to find the joke.”
“I wasn’t teasing, you. I mean…” He rolled his eyes a little, looking involuntarily cute, “I was teasing you, but I wasn’t joking around. Teeks, was a joke. You’re not.”
Your hands cupped your cheeks, smooshing them without thought while you tried to process what he was saying. It wasn’t computing for you. Your mind supplied you with plenty of scenarios that could have happened, but this, whatever it was, wasn’t one of them. Had he figured it out? Had someone told him and he was… “If this is you messing with me because you found out I liked you,” you said, eyes canted down to the ground, “I don’t find it very funny,” Your voice was muffled by the way you held your face, but you couldn’t let go. It was almost as though you were holding yourself together. “I just… was hoping to crash here for the night. I wasn’t looking to be the butt of a joke. Maybe I should just…” you shrugged, heart sinking, “leave.”
You’d spent years ignoring your feelings for your best friend, years of watching him date this person or that person. Years of watching silently from the sidelines as he got his heart broken, always there to help pick up the pieces when it happened. You had known, going into this, that you would have been better off staying away from Philly and Nolan. Let him have his life, you would have yours. You could find happiness and he could find his.
Yet there you were, gainfully employed and living exactly where you shouldn’t for the exact reason that you shouldn’t. You hated yourself for following after him like a lost puppy in need of an owner. You hated how your heart skipped and a knot of anxiety turned in your stomach when you saw him. But most of all, you hated how jealousy burned through your veins and nestled in your bones. You hated yourself for the way you felt about him and the kind of person it turned you into.
“I’m not messing with you,” he said, forcing you to focus on him, at least mentally. You were extremely aware of where he was and what he was saying, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look at him. Perhaps if you hadn’t been so tired the anxiety and self-loathing wouldn’t have been so palpable, but you had very little control over how dark your mind got. You were practically convinced that the man you knew your whole life would be capable of hurting you intentionally.
He moved forward, hands spreading over yours where they rested on your cheeks. You felt the breath in your chest catch, constricting your heart and fear prickling at the corners of your eyes. Your head moved, his strong hands guiding the motion until he could look into your eyes and see everything going through your head. His eyes were bright and full of an emotion you didn’t dare put a label on. If you hadn’t already forgotten how to breathe, that look would have been your undoing. “I was trying…” his words dropped off as he sucked in his bottom.
How you wished for just a moment that you were that bottom lip. You wished you had any idea what he was going to say, but you had none. You were left standing there, staring at him, waiting for him to let you go or keep talking. It seemed the perfect analogy for your relationship with him. It was a mess and completely one-sided. A simple look held you rooted to the spot, waiting for him to give you more. “Maybe you’ll understand better if I don’t talk.”
Your eyebrows pinched together, confusion coloring your features. Whatever could be seen between your lovely impression of a child making a fish face. You really were exhausted, Nolan had stopped making any sense about the time he’d knocked on your car window. Perhaps you were stuck in a dream. Perhaps you were still in your car, asleep in his driveway, rather than standing there in his hallway, a breath away from a nice cozy bed and sleep.
Fingers gripped through yours to pry them away from your face, encouraging you to drop them at your side. It didn’t take much effort to coax them down. Nolan’s hands fell to your hips and tugged you closer to him. Your heart picked up, the pace dangerously fast, in your opinion. You could feel your pulse jumping in your throat.
You hadn’t anticipated Nolan’s actions, your brain too bogged down by thoughts of inadequacy and fear. The moment his lips met yourself was almost startling. A gasp caught in your throat, but it didn’t last. Nolan had taken the opportunity to deepen the kiss, to test you. A fire burned through your veins warmed your body and heated your soul. You were a phoenix reborn, from ash to flame. You’d never felt so alive as you did at that moment. Your hands, lifeless and limp came to life just as you started to respond to his kiss.
Fingers carded through soft long hair, wrapping around strands and holding on. You didn’t want to let go, but all too soon it was over and Nolan was pulling back. His chest rose with a deep breath and he ducked his head to look you in the eyes.
“Clear?” He asked, a smile on his now kiss-swollen lips.
“As mud,” you responded, still confused by the whole situation.
Nolan’s head fell back, a groan vibrating from his throat. “Why are you being so thick tonight? It’s you, Y/N,” He said when he looked down at you again. “You’re the other person.”
“Oh,” you said lamely, a soft smile on your lips. “I told you I was tired.”
He laughed and shook his head. “We can fix that. You’re not sleeping on the couch…Unless you want to?” It was his turn to look unsure. Like the kiss had changed the way they were supposed to sleep.
Perhaps it should have, but you weren’t interested in changing anything like that. You just wanted to be able to kiss him a little more. And maybe get a little carnal with him. “Your couch sucks,” you told him. You’d told him that the day he bought it and every day after. It only made him laugh.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
You couldn’t deny what you couldn’t deny. You hated that couch more than anything. You’d rather sleep on the floor, which… was nearly a possibility but it didn’t seem like it was anymore.
“Can I ask you out, now?” Nolan said, suddenly, catching you off guard a bit. The idea of dating him was kind of funny to you considering how long you’d known each other.
“Ask me again in the morning and the answer will be yes. Right now, no. I need to sleep.” Your fingers threaded through his, a smile on your face as you pulled him through the doorway of the bedroom.
You still weren’t sure if you were asleep in your car or not, but the morning would shed more light on everything. You were both excited and fearful of that.

Temporary Fix
Summary: You’ve been best friends with Tyler for two years, could one night and a terrible ex-boyfriend change that?
Warnings: just cursing
Word Count: 2033
It was him. It was always him. Whenever something went wrong in your life you ran to him. He felt like home, even though he shouldn't.
You had met Tyler two years ago. You were working at a restaurant in downtown Dallas. It was a regular busy saturday afternoon when two recognizable faces walked in, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, the franchise faces of the Dallas Stars. Since you grew up in Dallas you were a born and raised Stars fans and loved going to their games but never in a million years did you think that the two of the most popular players on that team would walk into the restaurant that you worked at for there pregame meal. And just your luck, you were up to take the table. So now you had to keep your composure and try to not fangirl over these two idiots. You made it through taking their drink orders okay, up until Tyler looked at you with that signature toothy grin. Your entire body almost hit the ground. After that you just tried to be as professional as possible while giving them the best service. Tyler had talked to you a little bit every time you went over there, but you didn't think much of it, you just thought he was being friendly. That was until you picked up the checkbook after they left. They had a left you a more than generous tip and a message at the bottom that you were not expecting, the note read:
“Thanks for the great service beautiful, text me sometime?”
His number was attached underneath and your initial reaction was to laugh because you knew his reputation but this wasn't an opportunity you were going to miss out on. However, you were going to do this your way which was to just be friends.
You told him you didn't want anything fancy hoping to get your intentions across, so Tyler took you to his favorite diner in town which he swore no one knew about. And he was nothing that you expected. He was sweet, down to earth and was willing to listen to everything you said. He asked you if you knew who he was and you didn't want to lie so you explained to him that you grew up a fan and he told you that he loved that you didn't freak out when you saw him and wanted to actually get to know him and not just get with him because of who he was.
After that night your friendship flourished into everything you wanted it to be. Movie nights at Tyler's when he was home, pizza and ice cream and hanging out with his dogs, which might of been your favorite part. But you had both agreed that you just wanted to be friends and thought it was better for the both of you. So Tyler would tell you about his girl troubles, but you did the same with your boy troubles to him. Tyler was like a big brother to you and that was something that you never had before and you loved every second of it.
That was until one night, you had been seeing a guy for a few months and Tyler had expressed that he wasn't a fan, but you thought that was just him being protective. However, there was multiple instances that you found your self comparing this guy to Tyler and everything that he wasnt that Tyler was and you hated yourself for it. Until the unthinkable happened, you went to your boyfriends house for the night and you knew that Tyler would be getting back from his road trip soon and you were excited to see him tomorrow. You were getting into bed when you felt something in the sheets so you felt around until you were able to get whatever it was. You pulled out a pair of womens underwear that you knew, for sure were yours. They couldn't be yours, the last time you had even done anything with your boyfriend was two weeks ago, at your house. You immediately burst into tears trying hard to find words.
“What the fuck are these” you screamed at your boyfriend who was clearly caught very off guard. He knew that he couldn't lie so he just stood there staring at you. “Your always so busy with work and school, you barely even pay attention to me, i'm sorry” that was his sorry excuse. “So you go cheat on me instead of talking to me about you?” you were pretty much hyperventilating at this point not even sure how your getting these words out. You didn't want to know what he was going to say next so you gathered up all your stuff and ran to the door. The only person you could even think of to call was Tyler, you didn't even know if he was back from his road trip or if he was going to be sleeping since you just noticed it was already after one in the morning. But at this point it was worth a shot. After two short rings you heard the voice you didn't know you needed to hear so bad.
“Hello?” it was clear now that you woke him up as his tired voice came through the phone. Hearing his voice made all the walls you were trying to keep up come tumbling down and you were just crying into the phone.
“(Y/N), what's wrong, why are you crying, are you okay?” he sounded so concerned
Through your sobs your were only able to get out a few words “he cheated on me tyler”
Immediately you heard rustling on the other end of the phone “(Y/N) where are you, i'm coming to get you”
You told tyler the address and but he wouldn't let you hang up he wanted to make sure you were okay, even if it was only a ten minute drive.
When you saw the headlights of his car you felt yourself become more vulnerable. He opened the car door and jumped out embracing you into a hug and you sobbed into his chest. He kissed the top of your head and did not move until you were ready to pull away. He didn't say anything as he helped you into the car.
“Im not letting you go home alone your coming back with me tonight”
If there was one thing you knew about Tyler was that once his mind was made up, you were not changing it and you didn't have the effort to fight him. So you just nodded and you did agree that you needed company, especially his company.
The rest of the ride was silent just the sound of the music playing in the background and Tyler occasionally running his hand over your and giving you a look just to make sure you were doing okay. You walked into his house and laid on his couch and marshall, gerry and cash not far behind which in this moment you were thankful for. Tyler went into the bathroom and you decided to get settled on the couch and figured you would wait to ask him where he has extra blankets. You heard the bathroom door open but before you were able to speak you heard him say something to you.
“Come on, lets go to bed” is that really what he just said is all you could think to yourself
“What?” you barely got out
He walked over to you and sat down and there was only a small distance between you and him so you just decided to look down. He put his hand under your chin and lifted your head so that your eyes matched with his.
“I said lets go to bed, did you really think I was going to let you go to bed by yourself”
“Tyler I-” but he cut you off before you could finish your thought
“Lets go im tired” he was started to whine
So you followed him, you had no idea what you were doing or what was going through your head but it all felt strange, but it also felt very right
“Do you have a side preference?” he asked you in a semi-serious tone
You almost giggled at his silly question “um no, whatever you want”
He took off his shirt and you were almost taken back, it's not like you haven't seen him shirtless but with the way your mind was right now you were almost surprised. You crawled into bed with your best friend and you started to cry again thinking about what your now ex-boyfriend did to you and how bad it hurt.
“Hey, hey no more tears, come here” Tyler said and he pulled you against it this time you were crying into his bare chest.
“You know that asshole didn't deserve you anyway, you’re way to good for him and I never liked him anyway, he didn't treat you right”
When you pulled yourself together from your tears, you looked up at him and you locked eyes with him
“Thank you Tyler”
“For what” he looked at you with his eyebrow lifted which made you smile
“Everything, for being here when I need you, for saying the right things, for supporting me when I do stupid shit”
He separated the two of you and you instantly has chills go down your spine when he looked at you. You both just stared at each other, not knowing what to say next.
“Everything I've ever said about you is true, you're beautiful, smart, funny and the most amazing person to be around. I know you don't always believe me but it's true. Whatever guy gets to have you is the luckiest guy in the world” he said this in almost a whisper but each word was said with passion and love. You wouldn't believe what your hearing and it was suddenly coming clear to you. You also compared your boyfriend to Tyler, when he annoyed you, you would ignore him and complain to Tyler about him. Nothing he ever did was Tyler enough and it was right there with his eyes locked on you after what you thought was the worst night everything became clear. You reclosed the gap between the two of you and he embraced it. He kissed the top of your head again and has rubbing your back. You looked at him and you both had the same look in your eyes.
“(Y/N) I don't know if this is the right time to say this, but I hate seeing you like this, it breaks my heart, but it also breaks my heart seeing you with guys that don't deserve you, and I-”
You cut him off by pressing your lips to his. You both pulled away and you spoke first.
‘Tyler, i'm so sorry I've put you through all of this you deserve so much better than me”
“(Y/N) I told you that I meant what I said before, you are the most amazing person to be around and I want you to be around you all the time, forever.”
Your only response was to kiss him again and you felt fireworks, something that haven't felt with anyone since you met Tyler two years ago. He was the one to pull away and it got you nervous
“I don't want to be your temporary fix (Y/N) I want to be the one that's always here and always gets to love you”
“ I love you Tyler Paul and I’m a complete idiot for not not realizing it earlier and i'm sorry”
“Having you now and forever on is all that matters (Y/N) I love you”
You kissed each other until you were both drifting off to sleep. He pulled you in one more time and whispered into your ear “I'm so lucky im the one who gets to love you now”
And what you thought was the one of the worst nights was all okay because you were in love with your best friend and your piece of shit ex-boyfriend didn't matter anymore.

Consequences Chapter Sixteen: A.M. Imagine
Auston grumbled as he slowly ambled to his front door. Whoever was here at 8am on his day off was about to get their head ripped off.
He peaked through the peep hole and was confused to find Mitch standing on the other side of the door. He sighed and pulled open the door, sweeping his hand out dramatically to welcome Mitch into his condo.
Mitch laughed. “Morning Tone,” he nodded, handing Auston a coffee and walking further into the space to place the rest of the breakfast treats on the kitchen island.
“Did we have plans today that I’m unaware of?” Auston asked, his anger dissipating at the smell of food.
“Nope!” Mitch popped the ‘p’ sound for emphasis and then plopped himself down on Auston’s massive cloud couch.
Auston waited for Mitch to explain the reason for his arrival, but nothing came. Sometimes the guys just stopped by each other’s places unannounced but it was rarely alone and rarely this early.
Instead of pushing, Auston grabbed a couple of plates and brought the food into the living room, sitting across from Mitch on the couch.
“Sooo...” Mitch started. “How are things?”
“Things?” Auston replied, confused. Something was up.
“Yeah, you know, I feel like you have been a little on edge lately,” Mitch shrugged.
“Well, we’ve sucked, so that’s been a lot of fun,” Auston answered sarcastically, even more confused. Mitch was also on edge because of their place in the standings, hell the whole team was.
“I know when we suck like this, I have a bad habit of taking it out on Steph and end up making her feel pretty shitty,” Mitch took a sip of his coffee. “She’s pretty good at calling me out for it, but sometimes I don’t notice.”
“Uh huh,” Auston responded. He had a feeling he knew what Mitch was trying to get to, but he wasn’t going to make this that easy. “So, is everything okay between the two of you right now?”
“Oh yeah, we’re great,” Mitch waved him off. “I just figured with you and Tessa being in a fairly new relationship and her not really experiencing these bad stretches before, she might be having a hard time.”
“She’s been great,” Auston shrugged.
“So you guys are good?” Mitch pushed.
Auston sighed, wiping his hands on a napkin as he finished his breakfast sandwich. “What’s going on, Mitch?”
“You tell me,” Mitch replied. “Tess seems a little out of sorts lately and I wondered if you noticed.”
Oh, Auston noticed. He noticed because he knew he was the cause of it. He could feel her walking on eggshells around him, which wasn’t like her. He just didn’t think she’d go to Mitch or Steph about it.
“Did Steph tell you this?”
“No, Steph hasn’t mentioned anything.”
“So you just picked up on this on your own?” Auston doubted.
“Look, I’m not going to lie to you and I don’t think Tess would expect me to. She asked me to hang out the other day because she’s concerned about you.”
“Concerned about what?” Auston was surprised she even brought it up to Mitch and was kind of annoyed that she did. “Me?”
“Yeah, and how you feel about her,” Mitch replied, searching Auston’s face for any sign that Tessa was right. Unfortunately, at Auston’s groan and pained expression, he found it. Shit.
Auston rubbed his eyes, thinking about what to say.
“I don’t know man,” Auston responded weakly. “It’s just...a lot, lately.”
“The relationship?”
“Everything.”
“Matts, you know you can tell me anything,” Mitch offered. “I thought you were in love with Tessa.”
Auston laughed. So everyone did know. Great.
“Am I wrong?” Mitch was very confused.
“No, you’re not wrong,” Auston replied. “I’m in love with her.”
“That’s...great? Isn’t it?”
“Not when I have to break up with her,” Auston answered defeatedly.
Mitch could feel the confusion on his face turn to complete shock within seconds, his jaw dropping. What. The. Fuck.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, Mitch hoping he heard Auston wrong, Auston knowing that if Mitch reacted this way, it was only going to get worse.
“Why, I repeat, why do you have to break up with her?” Mitch asked. “You just said you love her!”
“That’s why, that right there,” Auston answered, standing up and walking to the kitchen to throw away the trash. “It’s too much too soon. I have loved Tessa pretty much from our first date. I think about her all day every day. She’s the first person I want to talk to in the morning, the last person I want to talk to at night. I want to tell her everything. I want to invite her to everything. I-I...I picture a future with her and it’s terrifying. She’s everywhere all the time. It’s...it’s suffocating.”
“Loving her is suffocating?”
“I guess,” Auston sighed, plopping back down on the couch. “I don’t know. She’s not suffocating. But this relationship, this intensity is and I honestly feel like I’m losing my mind some days.”
“It honestly just sounds to me like you’re scared,” Mitch stated pointedly. “Scared of how much you love her.”
Auston knew his friend was right, but everything in him was telling him to run. To not be 24 years old and have his future already mapped out.
“Man, I just need a break. I feel like I need a reset and maybe just see what else there is. And while I’m feeling like this, it’s not fair to her. Because I’ve been awful, Mitch. And she doesn’t deserve that.”
“She also doesn’t deserve to be broken up with without the whole truth,” Mitch responded. He was always going to be on Auston’s side, but he cared about Tessa too.
“I know, I have to tell her soon,” Auston agreed.
“You’re going to tell her everything?” Mitch clarified.
“No,” Auston shook his head. “I don’t want to hurt her even more. I’m just going to tell her that I need space to focus on hockey.”
“That is the biggest fucking cop out and you know it,” Mitch reprimanded.
“You think I want to hurt her?” Auston spat out. “This is killing me. But I can’t keep feeling like this.”
Mitch sighed. It kind of felt like old Auston, old commitment-phobe Auston, was back and it was disappointing.
“You’re making a huge mistake,” Mitch told him honestly. “Huge.”
“Maybe I am,” Auston relented. “But I need to do something to get my head on straight and I can’t do that while being with her.”
“All I’m saying is to think about it and make sure this is 100% what you want to do,” Mitch warned. “Because with Tessa, there might not be any going back.”
“I know,” Auston said sadly. He knew what he was risking.
“Why not just try to talk to her about how you’re feeling first? She might understand.”
“Would you? Would Steph understand if you told her that loving her was suffocating you? That your perfect relationship made you feel trapped?” Auston demanded.
“I don’t think those are the words I would use exactly,” Mitch rolled his eyes, glancing at his phone. “I have to meet Mo and Willy, you want to join?”
“Nah, I’m good man,” Auston stood up and started following Mitch to the door, hands deep in his sweatpant pockets. “You think Steph will ever talk to me again?”
“She’s going to be pissed,” Mitch rubbed his face in frustration. “Just do me a favour? Think about it a bit more, think about talking to her first, okay? No rash decisions.”
“That’s what Mo said too,” Auston responded. At Mitch’s look of confusion, Auston relented. “He picked up on it at the Christmas party.”
Wow, Mitch thought. Tessa was right. He’s been thinking about this for a while now. How did he miss it?
“Man, I’m really sorry you’ve been stressing about this and I didn’t even know,” Mitch said earnestly, clapping a hand on Auston’s shoulder. “You know you can tell me anything, right?”
Auston nodded gratefully. “Yeah, I know. I just felt like the worst person on the planet.”
“Not on the planet, no,” Mitch shook his head. “Maybe in Toronto though.”
Mitch laughed at Auston’s small smile. “Thanks man.”
“Any time. Any time.”

Hot jealous sex with Freddie 🥵 maybe pinned up against a wall.
My inbox is still open for thirst I low-key got distracted and forgot about it yesterday so if anyone has anything else then feel free to send them in
“You think that was fucking funny, princess?” Freddie’s voice is rough and angry in your ear as he grips the backs of your thighs tightly, the giggle you had let out was cut off with a moan the second his crotch pressed against yours. “You wanna flirt with other guys? Try and make me jealous?”
“I-I didn’t mean to, Fred, I was just being nice” your fingers tangled into his hair as you feigned innocence, knowing that was something he liked, he loved being able to ruin you, mark you as his.
“Bullshit, I should’ve fucked you right there, bent you over the bar, showed him and everyone else who you belong to”. His words shouldn’t have made you so wet but they had you dripping, especially as he ran the tip of his cock through your slit as he spat them in your ear.
“Please Fred, I need it, need you” his dark chuckle echoed through your apartment, you’d only just made it in the door before he had you pressed against the wall with your legs wrapped around his waist.
“This pussy is mine, all mine” he all but growled in your ear, slamming his hips forward filling you until his pelvis met yours. The whimpered moan that fell from your lips had his cock twitching inside you and being the gentleman he was, he gave you a few seconds to adjust before he was pulling his cock out completely, watching it slip between your lips before ramming back into you. “Look at it” he demanded, “watch my cock fuck into you, that’s it” you did as you were told, knowing from experience that he wouldn’t let you cum all night if you disobeyed him. “Good girl, my good girl, you’re all mine, my perfect girl”.
