And, okay, so it was perhaps a bit underhanded to trick the boy, but she’s under the firm understanding that not only did he want to be tricked, he was meant to be tricked. After all, no one sane wanted the crown.

Lady Gotham was not exactly sane. And she wanted the crown. Just like everyone in her city wants. It wants and it wants and it wants.

It’s not like Phantom is just letting her galavant about either. The way Lady Gotham sees it, he had something of a plan about this from the beginning. He did not protest as she declared that she wanted a new Fright Night. That he would hold the title until she found her own court. Didn’t argue when she had him run around collecting artifacts of power and tomes upon tombs upon monuments upon obelisks of information from the living and dead and not-quite-either. And she paid him back for his troubles, well learned about the value of not owing debt. Ghosts didn’t bother his little town nearly so much, and she even paid him in gold and rarities for his services. In due time, she’d even tell him how to nurture that city-spirit-tie he’d begun to form, but not yet. Too soon, too fragile, and Phantom was still yet too alive to understand that the attachment to humans, the heartbreak of outliving them, was the nature of ghosts like them.

Phantom complained at length about just how often he kept running into John Constantine and a… Raven? Or some other bird. Not one of Lady Gotham’s flock, so not her problem. And sure, okay, she is supposed to be bringing order back to the realms or what have you. The fractured place fit her current fractured image perfectly as is, no adjustments needed.

But, and this is important- what she wanted wasn’t necessarily the crown. She wanted the investment. So much like her citizens, or her citizens were so much like her, there was ALWAYS another angle.

It’s simple. She, nearly mirror to the Infinite Realms that the fractured glass feeling of the title felt like slipping on a glove, needed healing. No one wanted to heal Lady Gotham, proud and prideful and snarling as her stone wings chipped and ground against themselves as she moved. But, there was some interest in healing the one who held the fate of the Realms in clawed hands.

Her curses acted as shields while she found ways to mend, and her status as a living city meant that stubborn heroes would come to her aid whether she deserved it or not.

Such as Phantom, holding the Soul Shredder at his hip, the Amulet of Aragorn around his neck, shards of a crystal staff and the containers of the Ring of Rage and the Crown of Fire. It’s not like she needed either, she wasn’t as insecure in her power as someone like Pariah Dark or that strange vampire creature Phantom had fought at least a few times now. He also had a few other artifacts, such as yet another ring and the scraps of a gauntlet now turned into a small arm brace. He looked pleased, probably. Lady Gotham isn’t too sure anymore. It was a sort of grimace, which is what she looked like when she smiled.

He was nearly done with his current duties, at least. All he had to do was go to her flock, present the items to the correct bird or bat, and explain the mystical magical dread that they now needed to clean up, on behest of Lady Gotham. Even if they refused now, she’d just wait for them to become one of her subjects. By all means, she’d delay it, because she did love her knights. But she had use of them, and they already did so well to keep her from dissolving into total tar and despair and darkness.

To her oldest knight, the sword that shows the worst fears to whomever is struck down, a power he’d seen used to the unfortunate worst and devastating amount of its ability.

To her oldest bird that tried to leave the nest, the crown that responded most powerfully to the strongest emotions, an ability that would test his control over his emotions that he oftentimes masked.

To the one whose wings got clipped but learned to fly anyways, a ring that once allowed a dragon princess to hide in plain sight, a role that she had long since adapted to.

To the one that was almost in her grasp now, a skeleton key to unlock anything in the city, even as he locked himself away more often than not.

To the one who found her flock lacking, who forced his way in and made his place there, the amulet to let him fly higher than ever if he could bring himself out of the shadows long enough to do so.

To her bird that defied her father, she gifts the ring to heighten emotion, to bring out the parts of her she files behind such cheerful chirps.

To the youngest of the birds, she gives the crystal shards, allowing him to control others fates in a way he himself would loathe, either to have done to him or to do upon others now that he has been under his father’s wing.

And to the one that holds power within himself, the brace that is useless on its own, one that works only when given power higher than he himself thinks he wields.

“Keep an eye on them, would you? Even afterwards?” Lady Gotham told Phantom, her voice like a death rattle between headstones, but also the light at the end of an alleyway.

“Sure,” Phantom said, shrugging one shoulder. “Maybe I can get Batman to help with this book report while I’m out. Think he’s read The Great Gatsby?”

“Perhaps so,” she rumbled.

Phantom hummed. “Good enough for me.”

And he was off. And Lady Gotham smiled.

It was a bit less of a grimace than she remembered it being.

Lady Gotham: Ghost King

...so I've fallen down the DP x DC rabbithole (I fell down ages ago). I've seen a lot of fics that personify Gotham. Lady Gotham and Danny interact in these stories in various ways. There are a lot of Ghost King Danny stories in this fandom.

I had a thought. What if Lady Gotham fought Danny at a weak point, or maybe caught him by surprise (since in these stories she's usually pretty weak), and she became Ghost King? Of course she could also be really powerful, but anyone fighting the Ghost King would run into trouble so I feel like it would take special circumstances for her to defeat Danny. What would her kingship do to Gotham (the city)? What would that do to the Realms?

The whole morning she was trying to find an excuse to leave the training ground, but was stopped either by one of the coaches or by one of the boys who were making the most random requests. Now she found an escape in the form of Shion pissing Rin off, and while everyone was busy watching them, she escaped the room. Before she opened the bathroom door though, (Y/n) felt some weird shivers go down her spine and she looked around the place.

'Is someone... watching me? No, nobody is here. I think I just lack sleep.' She shook her head and walked inside.

'She looks even prettier in real life than on TV.' A figure thought as they watched (Y/n) from behind the corner of the hallway.

'It took me so long to finally get to her, and now she is finally within my reach. Thank God they didn't control who are the real staff members and who the fake ones are.' The boy giggled as he observed the bathroom door.

'She will finally be mine!'

The boy smiled as he noticed the door open and he quickly ran over to the door.

"Finally." The girl sighed, ready to return to her duties when a unfamiliar voice called out for her.

"Ha?" The girl turned around quickly, only to come face to face with a staff member she never met.

"The hell are you doing with my manager, lukewarm?! Let her go!" Rin ordered as he walked closer to the boy.

"Is this really who you want to stay with? You would be treated way better if you were with me." The boy said as he looked at the horrified girl. Somethings snapped in Rin as he heard those words.

'Some... some nobody thinks he can take (Y/n) away from me? And treat her better?'

Rage bubbled up inside of him and he punched the guy in the face, causing him to let go of (Y/n) and fall to the ground.

Using this opportunity, (Y/n) ran behind Rin.

"What us going on here?!"

"What's with the loud noises?" Two other staff members ran over and looked at the trio, horrified at the scene.

"Take this asshole away from here before I do it myself. He tried to kidnap (Y/n)." Rin said in a threatening manner and took the boy away.

Once gone, Rin seemed to have calmed down a little and turned to look at (Y/n), who was still in shock.

'That asshole... should have punched him harder. But now I have to focus on her.'

"Come on, let's calm you down first." Rin said, picking the girl up and walking towards the medic room.

"B-but your training-"

"It can wait. Just relax, it's only me here. Nothing will happen to you." Rin said in a softer tone as (Y/n) nodded her head, easing up a little bit.

"Thank you, Rin." She said softly, laying her head on his shoulder. The boy sighed and looked at the path in front of himself.

'I will protect you... no matter what. A nobody will not take you from me.'

Sae:

Now Sae was always a calm person and tried not to lose his temper in front of (Y/n) of all people, to show her he was mature and thought with his brain. But something just snapped in him and the rational part flew out the window when he saw a literal nobody grabbing onto the girl and scaring her to the point where she started crying. The older Itoshi lost every piece of self control at the proclamation the guy made and in a matter of seconds he was on the ground, passed out as Sae stood over him with a bloody knuckle. Sae seemed to have not noticed how strong his one swing was, strong enough to break some of his skin off.

"What the..." one of the security guards muttered as he looked between the three.

"He... uh... he..." (Y/n) stuttered, still in a daze from the previous events, but the guard seemed to have understood what had happened.

Once the guy was carried away, Sae seemed to have calmed down a little.

'He dared to touch her...that nobody touched her... I will kill him.' Sae's eyes narrowed as he tried to walk after them, but was stopped by (Y/n).

"S-Sae... your hand is... we need to treat it."

The boy looked at (Y/n), his eyes softening as he saw her worried look.

"It's nothing, it doesn't even hurt. It would have hurt more if that maniac had hurt you." Sae shook it off.

"Still, come on it will get infected. We can't gave you returning to Spain with wounds from a fight." (Y/n) tried to joke, but Sae didn't like it.

'It was for your safety.'

The older Itoshi put a hand on her head and gave her a small smile.

"I don't mind, as long as it's for you, these wounds don't hurt."

"Sae..." (Y/n)'s eyes widened at those words.

Shidou:

Bow Shidou was known for a lot of things, a great football player, aggressive when playing, questionable behavior at times and also for being very protective of the ones he holds close to his heart. So it came to no surprise to anyone when he stomped over to where (Y/n) and the unknown guy were, grabbed him by his collar and threw him away.

'It looked like he did it with 0 effort too.' (Y/n) thought with wide eyes as Shidou stood in front of her, shielding her form from the guy.

"It seems like some bottomfeeder forgot his place here. Who are you to come here and touch (Y/n) like that? Trash like you can just watch her from a distance."

Shidou said, his grin making his whole presence even more ominous than it already was.

"Who I am? I am the only one of you freaks who will know how to treat my (Y/n) right, you all don't even deserve her." The boy argued back.

"My (Y/n)? You seem to want those teeth knocked out, huh?" Shidou grinned wider, scaring the boy as he cracked his knuckles.

"Shidou... just call a guard... please." The blonde stopped in his tracks and looked over at (Y/n), his eyes widening when he noticed the tears running down her face.

'I will kill him one day. He deserves the worst pain.'

"Alright." Shidou said, picking the boy up by his collar.

"You are lucky she is here now... but don't worry, you will meet my fists very soon." Shidou whispered to the boy, who looked ready to throw up.

Kaiser:

For Kaiser the highlight of visiting Japan is pissing Isagi off and take (Y/n) away from the group to spend some alone time with her. During that time he would try to get her to come back to Germany with him, and so far it didn't really work. With that being said l, Kaiser had always his eyes on (Y/n)'sform, at any time. So when he noticed her leave, Kaiser decided to wait it out for a few minutes and then went to look for (Y/n), and he sure regretted waiting for so long after the scene he witnessed.

"I will teach you a lesson on touching my girl. You little piece of shit." Kaiser whispered as he punched the guy for the 3rd time, a wide smile on his face when he noticed the blood running down his face.

'I will kill him! I will kill him-'

"K-kaiser! Please stop... you will get hurt."

The boy looked away from the passed out one and looked at (Y/n). The worried and horrified look on her seemed to call him down and he sighed, getting up and walking to her.

"But I need to teach him a lesson. Didn't he scare you and touch you?" Kaiser questioned, trying to keep his cool as he remembered the scene.

"H-he did... but it's not worth to hurt yourself because of it. I already called a security guard. Come on, I need to clean up your hand." The boy seemed to have had an epiphany and he pulled the girl into a hug.

Now Ness was generally a calm guy, unless you insulted (Y/n) or Kaiser, then he will go full on mental. And while he kept that side hidden from (Y/n), he just couldn't do it now. Because when Ness saw the creep touching her and causing her distress, he was ready to commit murder.

'That bastard.' Ness smiled tightly and walk up to the duo.

"What... what do you want, freak?" The guy questioned, but got no answer in return. Instead, Ness grabbed the man's jacket and pulled him away.

i don't know enough of the other survivors to determine how they would treat kelcy... she could be acquaintances with norton because she does portray herself as middle class and most likely won't tell him her true identity. if we somehow connect kelcy and irene in their lore, then that idea would be even more plausible. though idk how he'll react when he finds out kelcy is married to a noble, but i'm sure his future wife can convince him. :3

kelcy could also be potentially friends with demi, since the barmaid does go to the manor a little later after jose's match. plus, her brother is a drinking buddy of jose's, i'm pretty sure kelcy would be friends with the guy as well. as such, she would be fond of demi and spend time with her.

if it can be anyone, even if their canon time lines are far apart, kelcy would be friends with/mother figures to helena and naib.

Voiceplay Visuals - In The Hall Of The Mountain King

Hey, it's a Voiceplay Visuals post for a video which I originally skipped over! So yeah, it's been a hot while since we've had a new full-length VoicePlay video, and it's been even longer since there's been a video worthy of a Voiceplay Visuals post, so I was like "y'know what, I might as well swallow my inhibitions and go watch In The Hall Of The Mountain King." Because if you didn't already know, I had never actually watched that one! I kinda just glanced at the thumbnail and went "hmm maybe not", but eh, what can I say, it's still Voiceplay content, and I knew from what I had heard about it that this one is/would be deserving of a visual analysis, so here we are!

Anyway, In The Hall Of The Mountain King was released on the 17th of September, 2022, and features Elizabeth Garozzo, who has provided background vocals for the Frozen 2 Medley and the Greatest Showman Medley, and she also featured in Just Sing I believe? Layne did the arrangement for this one (other than one small section which was arranged by Geoff), and he was also in charge of the video. Note: this is gonna be a rare instance of me breaking my informal personal rule of "only talk about what's on screen, don't talk about vocals", because the visuals and audio are so closely linked together in this one that it simply must be acknowledged! However, I'll keep it simple, and still only talk about stuff that's directly relevant to what's happening onscreen. But enough rambling, let's get into this!

Barely a few frames into the video and already you know this is gonna be one of those videos. The kind where the moniker "theatre kids of acapella" is practically an understatement! 😂

I'm not giving everyone individual screencaps to talk about their appearances, because there's a lot to talk about in this video and I'm not sure whether I'll be at risk of hitting image limit or not. But of course I have notes!

Kudos to Rick Underwood as always, plus Renette Feren, for the makeup and prosthetics! Joint credits are given to Pattycake Productions and "Penguin Point Productions" for the costuming. Also check out what Eli's wearing! Does that patterned cuff/sleeve look familiar? That coat also got used in My Mother Told Me, and then later on in Valhalla Calling!

Geoff is teal/blue (again), Eli is green, Elizabeth is pink/purple, Cesar is red, and Layne is orange. I know I'm just stating the obvious, but keep note of it anyway!

1, Elizabeth is very pretty in this, and 2, when she starts singing and adds some magic sparkly stuff to the cauldron, the cauldron starts glowing purple!

So yeah, all the guys are wearing contacts to match their skin colours (idk if Elizabeth is). Coloured contacts are a pain in the backside to apply apparently, or for Geoff and Eli they are anyway

Ngl I think Geoff's character in this is growing on me, but I do still largely prefer Geoff as his normal self of course <3 (with like two exceptions)

Also he throws something into the cauldron and I have no clue what it is/what it's supposed to be, just that it's small and round! But after he does so (while still taking lead vocals), the cauldron starts glowing blue! Noticing a pattern yet?

I think Cesar really wants to add that bottle(?) of whatever that is to the potion/mixture! 😄

(And man that is one heck of a cool ear design!)

Layne, however, is less keen on the idea 😂

Yeah so two of recurring audio-visual connections in this video (or however you wanna phrase it) is that 1, the cauldron glows the colour of whoever has just added something to the potion (usually while vocalising), and 2, taking a sip from the potion makes you sing opera-style, at least until weird stuff starts getting added to it, lol

I still don't understand the why/how of this bit, but sure let's just go with it I guess 😂😅

(Also when Eli chucks Mini Eli into the cauldron (rip), the cauldron then glows green!)

It's always been so weird being as young as I am both on tumblr and in the fandom space I'm currently a part of. Like realistically, a 14 y/o boy liking minecraft/mcyt sounds really normal but I don't know anyone my age that is open about being a part of this space. I think growing up on tumblr instead or twitter or tiktok honestly really helped when it comes to being happy in my intrests, since almost every other freshman to ever exist has no idea what this website is and they have no chance of ever finding my posts to make fun of me with them. I still use the other two, but I don't post and I only really open them when a cc like Charlie or Ted posts.

It's hilarious to me that because of my current intrests (jrwi and charlie in general) almost everyone that I'm friends with on here are much older minors or adults, mainly because charlie has a pretty mature and well rounded audience (THANK FUCKING GOD 🙏🙏), but also because everybody else my age that are in this fandom are on tiktok. Using tiktok for me and actually posting is kinda unsafe because of the way the tiktok contact sharing works? if someone from my classes finds it through "recommend accounts" then they can look through my account and harrass me if they recognize who it is. Not to steal a Charlie Slimecicle quote for a second, but I was rewatching an old podcast episode from the very beginning of 2020 and he described it as "elevated highschool" which I 100% agree with. Even 3 years later it's still very much just a higher form of highschool bullshit to have to deal with.

But since I don't post on tiktok I don't really have much to worry about!! My account is blank and it's the same @ as my url so nobody should recognize it and put a face to a name which im grateful for. However, being on tumblr isn't the greatest either;

People on here are all adults and I feel a little bit intimidated? In a sense? I understand that I'm a LOT different than most kids my age and I don't typically have anything to worry about but!! I feel like that's what makes it worse. The other people my age that were or still are on here don't understand tumblr etiquette, don't understand not to act like this is twitter and not have stupid cubito discourse, or just aren't funny? Idk I've just never found anyone my age (with the exception of like 3 of my mutuals you guys are amazing and I love you) that I can really talk to on here, so all of the friends I've made are much much older. I'm smart with who I talk to and how I talk to them so I'm safe don't worry!! My parents raised me right and online safety is such a wonderful thing, but one of my closest mutuals on here is in college right now, and the others are juniors or seniors in highschool. I kept my age out of my bio for so long but honestly that was because I was terrified I would scare away the people that I trusted so much because literally obviously it's going to feel weird for them to be mutuals with a genuine honest to god child. since ive been really obsessed with elisabeth: das musical and I found out that a bunch of different guys from that musical made one about rudolf as well, ive been thinking about watching it but i was never really in the mood because im not much of a Frank Wildhorn girlie ngl, like his music is fine, its not bad at all it just always leaves me thinking "eh, couldve been better" and as far as I was concerned i already HAD better so why bother. And theres this one fanfic that i read, i believe it was a les mis fic (the les mis fandom loves den tod btw more than other fandoms for some reason) where this guy who always has Death sortof hangin out in his periphery for some reason thinks to himself something like "oh, hes quite beautiful, i bet it would be fun to have a little death with death ;)" and I really like that fic Im very surprised that that was the only time ive encountered a joke like that. so, I loved this episode, please tell me this is when the season picks up finally, I was finally engaged from the beginning until the end, and enjoyed all of it

I did miss Carlos, and he's my fave character, but also, like I mentioned a lot already, the tarlos storyline so far with Iris etc was so fucking boring and it took a lot of time in those first episodes (and it's crazy I'm even saying that because I always say to give Carlos all the screen time 😂) so it was nice to kinda have a break from them haha and I'm so glad we're over the whole FBI thing

now, I adore Grace and I loved her storyline this eps, it was great and interesting

SUCH A GOOD WEEK

okay well first of all i’ll start with just how great this weekend was. like UGHHESAHDH and then im just gonna say how grateful i am to God because woah im soo happy.
