Unsung Heroes Event - Celebrating May Day with NP Essential Workers (15 May 2024)

On a bright and cheerful 15 May 2024, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Consumer Co-operative Society Limited (NP Co-op) with the help of the School of Life Science's Community Services Interest Group (LSCT CSIG) turned the spotlight onto its most steadfast and often overlooked contributors—the essential workers. The “Unsung Heroes Event” was a heartfelt tribute to these diligent individuals who keep the campus running smoothly every day.

At the heart of the celebration, a complimentary buffet lunch unfolded, serving up a variety of delicious dishes, all carefully selected to cater to the diverse tastes of our 200 essential workers. The atmosphere buzzed with gratitude and camaraderie as these workers enjoyed their well-deserved break at the bright and airy Block 51 Level 3 (above Makan Place) foyer.

Adjacent to the dining area, laughter and flashes of light filled the air at the Instabooth. Here, the workers, adorned with wide smiles, captured memories using the booth's playful props. The Instabooth wasn’t just about taking selfies or wefies; it was a token of appreciation, offering tangible memories these workers could take home and cherish.

This event did more than just fill bellies and snap pictures; it acknowledged the significant, everyday contributions of the NP essential workers. It reminded everyone in attendance that without these dedicated individuals, the campus life we often take for granted would not be possible.

As the day wound down, the air was thick with a renewed sense of appreciation. It was a simple yet powerful reminder that every role in our community, no matter how behind-the-scenes it may seem, is crucial and deserving of recognition and thanks.

This Unsung Heroes May Day celebration, Ngee Ann Polytechnic didn’t just host an event; it celebrated its true foundation—its unsung heroes, the essential workers. And for one beautiful day, they were the stars of the show.
