Baryak - Dva Srca

This is another song where the popularity online is surprising me. Perhaps because I like something that feels special when it comes to Eurovision, perhaps because in my first listen notes I said this felt like a crossover between Coldplay and Imagine Dragons at parts.

It's not bad, that's for sure, but there are much more creative and bespoke songs out there. This is definitely growing on me after my first listen, but it doesn't really fit my mental idea of a Eurovision song.

I'm going to give it a 6.5/10, and I think I'm happy enough with that.

Đurđa - To Ljubav Je

Narrowly missing out on the podium for me, this song is truly beautiful. It's magical, delicate, light and understated. I utterly adore it.

My only critique, and this only exists in the context of a song contest, is that it's almost too delicate. Despite it's exquisite beauty, the gentle nature of the song means it's going to be overshadowed by the louder, grander performances of the night.

I truly, truly love this song. It feels like a lullaby, or a song you'd get in one of those jewellery boxes with a ballerina that spins when you open them.

I'm giving it an 8/10, but if I forget that this is a competition and ignore that a song needs a hook to really draw voters in I'd give it a 10/10.

Trying something I've seen float around - starting a playlist where I add one song per month for 2025.

I was going to do it by what I listened to the most, but the problem with that is I have been a writing fiend lately, so most of my top songs are very lofi or character specific.

But with 9 days left, I know the first song, because I still feel like I can scream it from the top of my lungs and feel every emotion in the song.

If I remember, I'll add to this post as the playlist grows. I'll tag them, too, if you're interested.
