Your funeral was beautiful.
Upon hearing of your unfortunate death, the leaders of the Metkayina, Ronal and Tonowari, and the rest of their clan began to make preparations for it. The reef people had different funeral customs than the Omatikaya, but made a conscious effort to make it somewhat similar to that of your home clan. Just a little something that you could take with you onto your way to join Eywa.
Your body was delicately wrapped and placed into a giant leaf that was able to hold your weight above the water, preventing you from sinking to the bottom.
Tsireya had gotten permission from both of your parents to do your hair for the ceremony. It was a tradition of the Metkayina to do their recently passed loved ones hair before they joined the Great Mother. It was something that she wanted to do for you, especially after all you did during your time on Awa’atlu.
Each of your siblings also wanted to do something for you before you joined the Great Mother forever. Each of them had given something to you. Neteyam had replaced your armband with his, he wearing yours. Lo’ak had taken the hair piece that he always used to tie back his hair and put it in yours, asking Tsireya if she could incorporate it into your hair somehow. Kiri had wrapped her favorite necklace around your neck. And Tuk had wrapped the anklet she was making you around your right ankle, all of your favorite shells adorning the woven material. They had wanted to give a piece of themselves to you before your body officially joined Eywa, so they’d be with you for all eternity until it was their time to join you in the afterlife.
Your Mother was at the back of the leaf that held your body, helping her eldest son push it along the surface of the water as they joined the rest of the family and members of the Metkayina.
She wished she was back home. She wished she was doing all of this the only way she knew how, the Omatikaya way. Where she would sing your song chord as her Mother chanted prayers for your soul to return safely back into the arms of Eywa. Where she would experience the comfort of her people during her mourning. Where she would place an atokirina in your open grave at the base of Home Tree. Where they would hold a celebration of your life and achievements. Neytiri just wanted the comfort of her home. Of where she grew up. Of where she had given birth to you and watched you grow up. That’s all she desired.
Many faces in the crowd were damp at the sight. Not many of them knew you, but they could feel the love that the Sully family and their Olo’eyktan’s family held for you, and so they grieved over that. Over the deep, familial love that you’ll never get to experience again. Over the young life that was lost. Over the future life you’d never get to have.
Once they reached the point where they needed to, Neytiri readied herself to slide your body out from under the leaf.
But before she was completely able to, her children stopped her, wanting one more chance to see your face or touch your azure skin.
Neteyam was the first to approach you, turning around from the front of the leave that held you.
He gently touched your face, running a finger over the faintest scar that rested underneath your eye, smiling fondly at the memory that flashed in his head. Neteyam slightly bent down to rest his lips against the crown of your hair, “Rest well, ma tsmuktu,” he whispered against your azure skin, gently kissing where his lips rested upon.
He thought the whole thing was bittersweet. You had worked so hard to protect the people and your family, being successful in your tribulations. It was your job as the eldest sibling to do so. And now it was Neteyams. You passing on the baton to him. He promised to do as you did. Protect the ones you loved until your very last breath.
Then, it was Lo’ak who approached your still body.
He had glided up to the side of the leaf, putting one hand on your forearm and the other on your cheek. He shakingly smiled down at your peaceful form, almost believing that you were just asleep and not actually dead. Almost.
Lo’ak had made sure to wear every single piece of jewelry you made him over the years, there barely being any room on his forearms due to the sheer amount he was wearing. The recent you had attempted at making him was tied to his left wrist, on the hand that gently rested on your cheek. It was far from finished, the weaving pattern stopping at the middle and the beads were slightly uneven. When he entered your side of the marui and saw the bracelet you were making for him, it made him sob once more. He felt so guilty, so sad. You were no longer here to offer your comfort or to tease him. But he still felt your presence wherever he went, especially if he had one of your bracelets on.
No matter how many bracelets Lo’ak managed to pack onto his arms, he still felt the gaping hole in his heart that only your presence could fill. He doesn’t think anything on Pandora, or in the universe, could fill up the hole you left behind. You were Lo’ak’s favorite sibling, of course there was going to be a hole in your absence. He would never admit that you were his favorite sibling, but everyone knew. Everyone knew.
“Irayo, tsmuktu,” Lo’ak muttered, rubbing your forearm softly, “For everything.”.
Neytiri had decided now was the best moment to remove you from the leaf, taking you into her arms as you floated against the light current of the waves.
You were so quiet. Neytiri doesn’t think you had been more quiet in your life. Of course your lack of noise wasn’t purposeful or your doing. But she still couldn’t help but feel bothered by your silence. You were quite a fussy child, becoming even more rowdy as you grew and time went on. That’s what Neytiri loved about you. You never changed much or grew out of your childhood habits. She frowned at her realization of you being so quiet. It was a stark difference from your usual personality, making everything more real, more painful. She finds herself straining to hear your little giggle whenever you played around with the family, pretending to be asleep when you weren’t. But her sensitive ears pick up nothing, frowning at the reality that you’d never make a sound again.
Jake had glided up besides his wife, aiding her in floating your body.
Tonowari had explained to Jake the Metkayina’s funeral process and what it would entail. He and Neytiri would swim down to the bottom of the ocean, towards the glowing orange tendrils on the seafloor. The Olo’eyktan explained that once your body made contact with the tendrils, they would welcome you in a warm embrace, slowly and gently wrapping themselves around your whole body until no hint of skin was left. Finally pulling you down into itself as you became one.
To be frank, Jake was not ready to do all of this. He wanted, no needed more time with you. With his eldest. You were his first child and you’d always hold a special place in his heart, but it wouldn’t be the same anymore. There’d always be that void that followed him around. He felt as if he should’ve done more. That maybe if he didn’t run from Quaritch, you’d still be alive and breathing in his arms. Maybe if he tried harder to be a better Father, then you’d still be here.
Just as Jake and Neytiri were passing by their youngest children, Tuk stopped them, putting her forehead against your cheek, softly kissing it as she pulled away. Kiri copied her movements, running her hand through your braided hair only before pulling herself away from your body. Spider stayed where he was next to Kiri’s ilu, too afraid to approach your body and pay his respects. Not that he didn’t want to. He just didn’t know what to do at this exact moment. Everything was so confusing, especially after saving Quaritch minutes after witnessing the life leave your eyes. He didn’t even know why he did it. He had no explanation as to why. He felt out of place. Like he didn’t deserve to be present at your funeral.
“It’s time, Neytiri,” Jake softly spoke, putting his bruised hand onto his wifes delicately painted face, gently rubbing her cheekbone in hopes to comfort her. Burying your child was never an easy feat. Jake wanted to be there for his wife. Wanted to be her crutch to lean on. But, he too was barely hanging on.
Neytiri only nodded at her husband's words, taking a deep breath before diving down into the water, carrying your body in her four fingered hands.
Jake followed his wife shortly after, knots forming in his stomach as the orange glowing tendrils came into view, swaying back and forth from the current.
Placing your body onto the tendrils was something neither parent wanted to do. Watching as your body slowly floated downwards and made contact with the tendrils made Jake want to reach out to you and bring you into his chest. Watching as the tendrils started to wrap themselves around your form and practically swallow you whole made Jake want to cry out. He found himself yearning to have your own burial site, so he could go back to visit you. But this wasn’t Earth and he wasn’t back with the Omatikaya. The Metkayina did things differently and he had to respect that, even if it meant not being able to visit your grave whenever he wanted to.
From the water's surface, the remaining Sullys watched as you were swallowed by the mass of tendrils and finally became one with the Great Mother, body and spirit.
Kiri and Spider held hands as they watched. Kiri felt her eyes sting from the tears pricking at her waterline, mixing in with the seawater. Spider only blankly stared at your slowly disappearing body, swallowing the lump in his throat.
Neteyam curled in on himself as he floated there, almost copying your fetal stance you were put into in order to be wrapped in preparation for your funeral.
Lo’ak had reached out towards you, sobbing into the water as bubbles erupted from around him, water seeping into his lungs from the action.
And Tuk couldn’t bring herself to watch, instead finding comfort in watching the ilu’s float in their place.
Tsireya, Ao’nung, and Rotxo only continued to cry silent tears as they watched from afar. The glowing light of the ocean floor becoming brighter as it absorbed your body, dimming out slightly, a telltale sign that you were now with the Great Mother for all eternity.
The whole night felt surreal, even afterwards.
No one uttered a signal word in the Sully’s marui pod, sitting in silence as everyone processed what occurred only hours prior.
The sea gives and the sea takes.
The sea gave the Sully’s a new home but as a result, took a small part of them as the price.

The First Peaceful Sleep

Sweet story of Neytiri and Lo’ak spending some time together after Neteyam’s death. They are still grieving, and Lo’ak feels like his father blames him. Neytiri comforts him and assures him that he is loved <3

Neytiri and Lo’ak returned from the village meeting, trying to enter the marui as quietly as possible. The moon shined brightly outside the pod, signifying another long night. Jake, Kiri and Tuk were laying together in the biggest hammock, fast asleep, not even stirring from the sounds the two made as they entered the home.
Jake was laying in the middle taking up most of the space, with one arm wrapped around Kiri’s waist and the other hand resting on Tuk’s head. Kiri’s head lay in the crook of his neck and shoulder while Tuk was sprawled over his chest, her little body rising and falling with his breathing. Her children looked so small next to him, but they were getting bigger every day. Everything moved so fast, Neytiri wished she cherished the days with them even more than she already had.
She smiled to herself as she watched them, and walked over to where they were in the hammock. Tuk was always such a reckless sleeper, but Jake loved that about her. And Kiri was soft and gentle… no matter what she did. She was a gift from the great mother. She looked at peace here in her father’s arms. She was glad they could have one moment of normalcy despite this war that continues to rage on.
Neytiri was happy to see her husband getting some well-needed rest. He has had little sleep since they buried Neteyam. He deals with the grief by putting his energy into work. He has been helping Tonowari with the rest of the clan and the cleanup of the battle… which is why Neytiri volunteered herself to go to the meeting in his place today. Ronal had asked for her anyway, wanting assistance from another Tsahik… well Tsahik-in-training technically. Neytiri had told Jake to stay back with the kids and get some sleep, and he reluctantly agreed. Lo’ak wanted to go to the meeting with his mom though, as he felt like he needed to help out more.
As Neytiri thought about all that’s happened here, she couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if they stayed at home, with the rest of the Omaticaya. Would her eldest son still be alive?
Although she did not agree with Jake’s decision to flee, she always respected him and tried her best to trust him. He has always protected them before, and she didn’t know what she would do without him. They were a team regardless of the circumstances. All of Neytiri’s choices led her to this very moment.
She thought back to that faithful day where she spotted a dream-walker lost in the forest. When she trusted the sign of Ewya, lowered her bow, and chose to spare him. She looked at Jake as he lay sleeping with their daughters and she sighed. She loved him so much, and despite knowing what she knows now… she would choose him every time.
Neytiri placed a kiss on her daughters’ and husband’s foreheads. When she did this, Jake’s eyes drifted open and focused on his wife.
He smiled softly at her. “You’re back.”
“Mhm. It ran very late. I’ll fill you in tomorrow,” she spoke softly.
“Where is Lo’ak? Is he okay?”
Lo’ak looked up when he heard his name and Neytiri glanced back at him. He was sitting in the corner with his knees pulled up to his chest.
“Our son is here and he is fine. You can go back to sleep my beloved,” she said while she stroked his cheek with her thumb.
He leaned into the warmth of her hand with his face and let his eyes close.
“Are the girls making you uncomfortable? Shall I put them in their beds?”
“No, I’m fine. Don’t wake them,” he murmured with his eyes still closed. She smiled at him once more and turned to her son.
“Lo’ak, do you want to sleep?” She asked him.
“No, I’m wide awake now,” he said as he traced the woven pattern on the floor beneath him.
“So am I,” Neytiri responded. “Are you hungry?”
“Not really.” Lo’ak was now staring at his father and sisters sleeping, and Neytiri wondered what the look on his face meant.
“Come my love, let’s sit and talk then.”
“Wont we wake them?”
“They’ll be okay, they’re heavy sleepers.”
She reached her hand out to him and he took it while smiling at her and moving to sit next to her.
She put an arm around him, pulled him close, and rest her head on top of his. “My son, tell me what’s on your mind.”
Lo’ak took a deep breath and tried to speak the words without crying, but he couldn’t.
“I miss him, mom” his voice trembled and the tears streamed quickly down his face, as if he was holding this in all day.
Neytiri cupped his face with one hand while the other remained around his shoulder. She wiped his tears away with her thumb. She broke down when seeing her son like this and she began to tear up as well.
“I know you do, my love. He’s your older brother, he should be here with you. Im so sorry you had to lose him and suffer like this.” She hugged him tighter.
Lo’ak looked up at her, “No, Im sorry mom. I convinced him to go back to get Spider, if it wasn’t for me, he-“
“Stop.” Neytiri cut him off before he could continue.
“It is not your fault. And I don’t want to hear you saying something like that again. Those demons killed your brother. Not you.”
Lo’ak closed his eyes tightly and shoved his face into his mom’s embrace to muffle his cries.
This pained her so much. She held him like this for a while and waited until his breathing regulated.
“Look at me,” she told him. He didnt move.
She released him and took his face in her hands but he refused to open his eyes. Neytiri’s lips trembled as she looked at her son.
“Lo’ak please,” she begged and Lo’ak opened his eyes when he heard his mother’s pleading voice.
“It is our job as parents to protect you and your siblings. And we failed you.” Her voice cracked as she said this and more tears fell. “Don’t you ever think that you’re responsible.” She took a deep breath. “I wish you didn’t have to grow up in this world, so quickly like this. Its not fair and I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t cry mom.” Lo’ak reached up to caress his mother’s face. “It’s not your fault either.”
“I appreciate you, my love.”
She hugged him tightly and Lo’ak layed his head on his mother’s chest while she stroked his hair. They once again looked at each other’s tear-stained faces and let out a chuckle. They sat for a while in the silence and it felt nice… to just be with each other.
“Come, I’ll loosen your braids and we can re-do them in the morning however you like,” Neytiri offered to her son.
“Okay.”
Lo’ak sat crosslegged on the floor of the marui and his mom kneeled behind him to begin working on his hair.
She always played in her children’s hair to get them to fall asleep; it was her best trick and it still worked even now when they were teenagers. But in this moment, she just wanted to spend some time with her son. It’s been too long.
She worked quietly for a while, trying to be very gentle so he would feel relaxed.
Apparently this was not working because Lo’ak soon broke the silence.
“I know you don’t blame me mom… but does he?” Lo’ak gestured to his sleeping father.
“No, he could never,” Neytiri answered swiftly.
“It feels like he does.”
This pained Neytiri to hear her son say… even though she knew Jake was acting a bit distant from Lo’ak these days.
She wanted to reassure him. “Your father has been grieving in his own way. He wants to busy himself with work so he doesn’t have enough time to feel pain. He also feels at fault for bringing war to these people, so he has been distant… preoccupied. But he does not blame you.”
“That sounds like an excuse. He can barely look at me sometimes. I see how he is around me. He doesn’t treat Tuk and Kiri that way. It’s just me.”
“You know your dad has always treated your sisters differently from you and your brother. He babies them.”
Neytiri knew she was struggling to defend her husband’s actions. She didn’t like how Jake was so harsh, but she understood why he needed to be that way.
Lo’ak seemingly ignored her response and continued, “I will never live up to the great Toruk Makto. I’m nothing like him.”
“He was not always that great warrior. You know… you are more like your father than you think.”
“Really?” Lo’ak asked in disbelief.
“Mhm. When I first met him, he did so many troublesome things. He went head-first into danger every time. He had no fear. You must have gotten it from him,” said Neytiri.
Lo’ak laughed lightly at this and Neytiri felt better that she made him smile. But she wanted him to understand.
“When he looks at you, he is reminded of himself…so much so that it scares him.”
Lo’ak turns to his mother in surprise at this.
“Dad? Scared?”
“Mhm. Don’t tell him I told you this as he would rather not worry you… but he is fearful of losing you. All of you. Back where he is from, he had no family. He was all alone, and he lost his brother too. But now he has all of us, and he loves us so much. Unfortunately his fear turns into anger when you get into trouble, but he just wants to keep you safe. He was trained to be a soldier when he was very young… you know this story. He raised you boys so harshly because he didnt know how else to do it. When the sky people left back then, we did not imagine that they would return the way they did. Well, at least not so quickly, and so much bigger and more powerful. And especially not while our children were still so young.”
Lo’ak was quiet, taking in this information.
“Your dad’s worst fear came true when we lost Neteyam. He doesn’t want us to see it, but he is falling apart and trying to keep everything together.”
Lo’ak turned back to look at his mom when it sounded like she started to cry again.
“So, please try to understand okay?” She asked him.
“I understand a bit more now, Mom. Thanks for telling me.”
“You deserve to know his true feelings. Im sorry he is taking so long to tell you himself, but give him some time. The wound is still fresh for all of us. He is making mistakes now, but he will correct them… he always does.”
“Okay, mom.”
“You look like him,” she says with a smile and she kisses his temple.
“I know. I got his fingers, toes, and his eyebrows to prove it,” Lo’ak responds in annoyance.
“You got all his handsome features, too.”
Lo’ak smiled to himself as he heard this. He has always gotten bullied for looking differently. He was often called a “freak,” just like his older sister. But there was a small part of him that liked being the only biological child to resemble his father in this way. It made him feel closer to him, and sometimes, it was the only thing he had.
Neytiri finished loosening Lo’ak’s braids and brushed his hair to remove all the knots. Then she placed another kiss on his cheek and wrapped her arms around him from behind.
He held onto her forearms with both hands and they stayed like that for a little while. Her hugging him… her head over his shoulder and their cheeks lightly pressed together. A mother and son.
Lo’ak closed his eyes and breathed deeply. Its been so long since his mom held him like this. He got scolded so often, that he forgot how much he yearned for this affection from his parents. He tried to take it in, and cherish it.
His mom released him and gestured for him to lay his head in her lap. “Lay down, baby.”
Lo’ak did as she said, and she began to caress his head and run her hands through his hair. He felt the fatigue take over but he refused to sleep… not wanting to waste any time with his mother.
She spoke softly to him, “my son please remember this. No matter how stubborn and troublesome you may be at times, I see you… and I know you are so much more.”
Lo’ak turned his face up to look at her and she smiled warmly down at him.
“You are compassionate, warm-hearted, and headstrong. You are determined and hardworking. And you have so much love to give. All of you kids do. You saved us and we are so grateful for you. Your father and I have so much to learn from you. I love you so much.”
After hearing his mothers words, Lo’ak felt full inside… after a period of feeling only emptiness.
“I love you too, mom.”
“Its very late… lets sleep now, okay?”
“Okay,” Lo’ak was already drifting into sleep as he said this, he could no longer fight it.
Once she knew he was asleep, Neytiri carefully lifted his head from her lap and lay him on the cushioning of their sleeping mat. She spooned him from behind and interlocked her four fingers with his five.
As she relaxed and inhaled her son’s scent, she felt sleepiness overcome her. She had not noticed how tired she actually was. She let her eyes close and in a few short moments, she fell asleep to the sounds of her loved ones breathing. It was the first peaceful sleep she has had in a while.
Got randomly inspired to write about these two. I hope we get to see more of their relationship in the future. I love Lo’ak as a character and he deserves the world! Hope you enjoyed :)

Reader and Jake’s na’vi partners bonding over their baby fever once they see their little humans taking care of Spider. I can imagine Tsu’tey looking at her looking at Jake with that hungry look and being like “haha she’s WHIPPED. got baby fever for a HUMAN HA” and then his ears flatten as his head snaps to his own partner, realizing “oh, shit. I have baby fever. I am whipped. oh no. do I want a baby??”
This! This is their entire dynamic! Just ribbing each other like the children they are, only to turn out to be complete hypocrites. And whilst Tsu'tey has his realisation, I just know Neytiri is laughing her ass off at him.
Just Jake and Reader's confusion as they tend to Miles (Spider), whilst Neytiri loudly cackles and Tsu'tey sits there with his head in his hands looking like he's having a breakdown over a maths problem.
Baby Miles (Spider) is too powerful for any of them to resist.

For anyone confused by this ask, you can find the fic it belongs to on Ao3, here! Chapter 2 is almost complete :)

I really loved this beautiful Avatar 2 fanart of Jake Sully's characters with his older twin brother Thomas "Tom/Tommy" Sully together and above all because I really love the way we see Jake and Tom when the 2 were just little children while Tom comforts his younger twin brother Jake at the same time that they also show in him Jake as a Na'vi with his older twin brother Tom while Tom comforts him but what I especially love about this beautiful fanart is the fact that in the... Jake Thomas' brother has survived and had not been killed but also because I really would have loved it if we had seen Tom Sully meet his nephews and his adoptive niece along with Mo'at, Eytukan and Neytiri

By the way, this beautiful Fanart of them is not mine and the credits are not for me, but unfortunately I can’t leave you the link of the true creator of this beautiful masterpiece on Twitter because apparently he deleted it and if you ask me I don’t understand why I would do something like that but fortunately I managed to rescue the fanart in time

I'm here
Sully Family x Son!Reader
Word count: a lot
01 02
Prologue
⚠️ : Blood, Swearing
Y/n was the second youngest member of the sully family. Born on 2157, he is one year younger than Lo'ak and Kiri. Y/n was born with a streak of white hair and the color of his skin was lighter than an avatar. He was also a bit small compare to his siblings. Physically Y/n was told that he would be weak and not as strong as a normal avatar, this was said by the other scientists seeing that Y/n had a hard time breathing right after he qas born, but Jake believed that Y/n is just as strong as his siblings.
One thing that concerns them is Y/n's hair. It was never seen before and Jake had to explain to Neytiri back at Earth there are some people with heterochromia that could result different colors in their body. Neytiri might still be confused about it but when she saw Y/n for the first time she immediately loved him. The only left is how others view him.
Growing up Y/n never really interacted with others because he could feel the weird stares from them even if he was a child. Some of them have already gotten used to Y/n's appearance but the other kids might see his hair a bit weird, resulting in Y/n finding it hard to make friends. But he got his family so why should he be worried?
"Wait for me!!" Little Y/n said as he tried to keep up with his siblings, the kids were running through the forest trying to hide from their parents as they were playing a series of police game their father taught them. "Don't be too loud Y/n! They'll hear us" Kiri said to him while running. Neteyam leads the pack as they went under the leaves and roots of the trees. He stopped and looked at his younger siblings, "Let's split up so we don't lose immediately like last time"
They immediately scattered and Y/n follows Neteyam to his hiding spot. "Y/n? Go you need to hide" Neteyam pushed Y/n away "b-but we always hiwde together" Y/n said as he grabs Neteyam's hand with both of his own. "Y/n..." Neteyam can't stand his baby's brother cuteness "Alright alright you can hide with me but don't be noisy" "Yay!"
"Y/n!" Neteyam shushed him as he giggles
Not even a couple of minutes both of you can hear Lo'ak screaming and running away as your father's voice was not far heard. Neteyam peaked through the small crack between the rocks and saw Lo'ak being drag by his father to the jail area. "Alright, Y/n I need you to stay here until either I get back or dad"
"Okay...but return fast" Y/n held up his little pinky to Neteyam. He smiled and seals the pinky promise, then he sneakily went outside to try and save his stubborn other brother.
Y/n was left alone in a dark hiding spot, minutes went by and he hide there patiently waiting for his parents or Neteyam to find him. He was getting tired and bored of waiting.
He can't help but get excited when he heard a rustle, and thought it was someone coming to find him so he just gets out of his hiding spot. But when he got out he instead saw an adult thanator looking at him. Y/n screamed and runs away as it started to chase after him.
Jake and Neytiri were busy chasing around the other kids and keeping them in place when suddenly they heard Y/n's scream. They both looked at eachother with panic in their eyes "Oh my Eywa, Y/n!" Neytiri shouted, Jake took off running towards the direction. Praying and hoping he'll be alright.
Y/n ran as fast as his little legs can take him but the thanator was getting close and closer every minute. Luckily Y/n saw a small opening under a tree that was located near a ledge that leads to a pond. He immediately tries to get there but before he could the creature clawed one of his leg, causing Y/n to fall over the ledge. He rolls down and landed near the pond. At this point Y/n was shouting and crying for his dad, the pain on his legs didn't make it better either.
The creature landed infront of him, ready to attack again when Jake finally caught up and throws the spear at the creatures abdomen causing it to immediately fall and scram. Luckily he had a spear because he had just finished hunting today.
"Y/N! Oh my god, no no no.." Jake held Y/n in his arms carefully, his hand was stained with Y/n's own blood. "D-daddy..I-I'm scared" "I know baby, I know come on we'll get you home. Stay awake for me alright?" Jakes tries his best to stop the bleeding but then Y/n screamed "It hurts daddy!" Jake was shaking at this point because Y/n was loosing blood. He carefully lifts him up in his arms and began to ran back while carefully trying not to make the pain worse.
"I-It..hurts..." Y/n managed to say as his eyes were getting drowsy little by little. "Y/n! Wake up! Come on don't sleep, everything's going to be fine- baby come on be strong. We're almost home" Jake keeps on repeating it but as much as Y/n tried to stay awake, the pain and exhaustion gets to him eventually.
Y/n can hear his father shouting for him but he can't make up the words. Before Y/n passed out, the last thing he hear was Neytiri's scream
Y/n slowly opens his eyes and saw that he was in a room full off machine and some are attached to him. Y/n began to panic and tries to get up but the doors immediately opened "Y/n!" He saw his mother came into the room and his first instinct was that he wanted to be held by his parents.
He reaches for Neytiri and she went to Y/n's side, holding his hand and hugging him. Y/n sobbed a little as Neytiri kisses his forehead to comfort him while thanking Eywa for saving his life.
Not long after Y/n heard another footsteps and it was Jake, with a baby in his arms. Y/n knew immediately that it was his baby sister. Jake gives the baby to Neytiri and went to lay next to Y/n carefully and he leans into his father's warmth.
Jake wipes away his tears and also kisses his forhead. After Y/n stopped crying his attention shift to the small sleeping figure. "What is her name?" Neytiri smiled at him before answering, "Tuk. Tuktirey te Suli Neytiri'ite" "Tuwk. She's so small" Y/n repeats, and Jake chuckles at his son.
Y/n tries to remove the wires attached to him but Jake quickly stops him "Don't, Y/n."
"But.." Y/n quietly say as Neytiri held his hand. "I know... we'll get if off as soon as you're better alright?" He said as he stroked your hair.
"Is your leg still hurting?" Jake asked and Y/n shakes his head "Can I still play with Lo'ak, Nete, Kiri and Spidew?" Y/n asked
"Of course you can, but first you need to rest so you can get better" "But I want to sleep in my bed with daddy and mommy... I don't want to sleep here.." Neytiri squeeze Y/n's hand reassuringly. She can't stand seeing her child in this state. When Jake came back with Y/n, she was scared to death seeing him bleeding and unconscious. She was also close with her due and she doesn't want to lose a child on an important day.
Y/n was out for a couple of days and Jake had to make sure that Neytiri isn't stressing out because it might harm the baby. Neytiri was heartbroken because Y/n was so excited to meet his little sister. Thankfully Neytiri was able to deliver safely and the baby was healthy.
Y/n had to stay there for a while and he hated every single second of it. He felt scared and alone. He cannot see his siblings yet other than Tuk who was aslsep in his mother's arms mostly. Neytiri and Jake make sure to take turn to visit Y/n every single day.
He thought that everything would be back to the way it used to be but since that event Y/n was forbid to be out of Jake's sight or even go out to the forest alone or with his siblings. He was only allowed to go if either Neytiri or Jake was with him. In result Y/n spends his time almost everyday at home.
At first he was alright with it, thinking that Jake just wanted to protect him. But as time passes he started to notice that he also was constantly overlooked by his father and when he asked him to go and train together with Nete and Lo'ak he would always refused. Sometimes Y/n was upset with his father and often felt ignored by him until to the point where he felt like his father forgot he existed. All of this started when the sky people came back, of course it was the more reason he wasn't allowed to go out to the forest.
<Present day>
Y/n was with his grandmother, Mo'at. It was really something he would do around the camp. He only ever went out with either his parents and it was only on special occasions. Y/n was dying of boredom and he would always felt sad and jealous when the others can go out and play while he would have to stay behind. Tuk would sometime sneak out with the rest but Jake was too soft on her and she would get away with it.
Well let's say that Y/n didn't have the same privilege as Tuk. And sure the event he had was traumatic but sometimes he longed to be in the forest. He had asked Jake about it and his answer was always like "your not careful enough"
He would spend his time learning about making things from scratch, listening to music/radio that Jake gave him, and helping around the camp. Sometimes helping Kiri tend to the wounded.
Suddenly Tuk came in jumping with joy "Y/n! Come on! They are here!" Before Y/n could react Tuk takes his hand and drags him out of the tent.
Outside he saw Kiri and Spider "Y/n do you feel better?" Kiri asked, and Y/n responded with a nod. "Why did you sneak inside there bro? You know that place isn't for playing around.." Spider commented. "I was just curious" Y/n folded his arms in annoyance. "Plus dad already scolded me, so sadly I don't need anymore scolding monkey brain." Y/n chuckles a bit before running to catch up on Tuk "Hey! It's monkey boy. Not monkey brain!"
Tuk ran to their mother while Y/n noticed that their father looked pissed. He looks at his brother, Neteyam and noticed that he is injured. He knew where this is going so he just greeted his mother first, "Are you feeling alright Y/n?"
"I'm okay" he responded quietly and hugged his mother. Neytiri hugs him back and stroke his head, yesterday Y/n accidentally inhaled a black powder from opening a bullet in the armory. He coughed uncontrollably and had a hard time to breathe, luckily Norm and Jake was there.
Neytiri never hated those weapons more in her life and for sometime she was upset that they are raiding the sky people's weapon. As he was treated Neteyam and Lo'ak stayed beside him, Y/n was always their 'baby brother' since they were kids. Not only that, because of his white hair he was always picked on by other kids and his brothers are the one who always defended him.
After greeting his mother, Y/n stared at Neytiri and asked "Mother, when can I join you and dad? Also can I please try and seek my own ikran? I'll be careful.." Neytiri couldn't resist his son's pleading but she can't do much if her husband hasn't agree with it. "When the time comes you may, you know your father is very cautious of the sky people" "But what if my ikran comes by itself and friendly? Like Kiri" Neytiri chuckles "Your not Kiri, you are Y/n." She caress Y/n's cheek gently as he huffs in disappointment, then Tuk joined the conversation "What about me mommy?" "You know the answer Tuk" Neytiri said as she picked her up
Y/n looked at his brothers who were being scold by their dad, Y/n couldn't stand it anymore, it is always the same thing again and again. Lo'ak gets into trouble and Neteyam always tries to protect Lo'ak from their father's wrath. But this time their father keep on scolding them while Neteyam is injured. Finally Y/n speaks up "Neteyam is hurt." Jake looks at him "Yes. I am aware-" "then we should treat the wound" Y/n cuts him off. It was silence for a moment until Jake speaks again "Kiri, help with the wounded."
"My brother is also injured" Kiri said implying to what Y/n said earlier. "Father, I take full responsibility" Neteyam tried to ease his father's wrath but Jake responds back "Yes, because you are the oldest and you must behave accordingly." Y/n grabs his mother's hand and looked at her. Neytiri understood what he meant and finally speaks "Ma Jake, your son is bleeding"
"It doesn't matter, mother."
"Yes it does. It could get infected" said Y/n. Jake looks at him before looking at his wife. "Go in and get patched up" Neteyam was dismissed and the others went along with Kiri except Y/n.
Jake looks at Lo'ak "You must be aware that you almost had your brother killed. You are banned from flying for a month." Lo'ak stayed silent, accepting the punishment
Since the sky people invaded back Jake has been quite hard on his sons and Y/n being the youngest was also included. Despite that Y/n still can't venture out to the forest anymore since they have to go on hiding and he was forbid to go to the forest alone even though he was already old enough. Lo'ak and the others were allowed only until eclipse but Y/n was still not allowed. The worse part is that he never gets an explanation from Jake.
Y/n remembers the time back when he was younger his father was not this strict and he nevers get mad at them, "Look at me" Y/n was snapped back to reality. He looked around and Lo'ak was already gone.
Jake crouched down to look at his youngest son, Y/n slowly looks at him. He never spends anymore more time with his father as he grew older because Jake was so focused on Lo'ak and Neteyam. "So how are you feeling?" Jake asked, Y/n was surprised by the question "I'm fine.." was all he could say. He wanted to hear those words since yesterday but Jake left because there was a problem.
"Y/n...I know how much you want to be out there but we both that you're not ready yet" he said while looking at Y/n. Jake always knew deep down he can't keep him forever in the camp because Y/n was just as stubborn like him. This wasn't the first time Jake disscuss this with Y/n because he would always ask him if he has the chance. Y/n wanted to protest but he can't because he still respects his father.
Jake then stands up and began to walk away, Y/n looked back at his father and mustered up the courage to stop him. "Dad! Then can we please spend time together? I want to go out and explore....and I missed you" the last part was very quiet but Jake hears it. Jake thinks for a moment before looking back at Y/n, his eyes was not as grumpy as before. "Underneath the big old tree?" Y/n's ear perked up, he was happy that his father still remembers that place. Y/n nodded and Jake left to do his other work.
Y/n went inside the tent and as usual it was lively and noisy because mostly it was Neteyam hissing from the pain while their grandmother treat his wounds. "You alright Nete?" Y/n asked, "Never been better- ow!" he winced again. Kiri voiced her opinion about using Yalnabark to Mo'at but she reminded her who was the tashik here, Y/n knew that Kiri was going to be a great tashik one day, after witnessing her relationship with Eywa he couldn't help but be amazed by her. He sat beside Lo'ak and stroke his hand, although he was younger than Lo'ak, Y/n has always been there to comfort him. Lo'ak looks at him and leans his head on Y/n's shoulder.
Outside, Neytiri approached her lover "What is it" Jake asked. "Neteyam and Lo'ak try to live up to you. It's hard for them."
"I know" Jake answered
"And Y/n. You are hard on them." Neytiri added, "I'm their father. That's my job" he told her. Neytiri puts her hand on his shoulder and looked at him "This is not a squad. This is family" Her tone serious. Jake stops whatever he was doing and exhale for a moment "I thought we had lost him. It's the same feeling when Y/n had that accident and that memory replays on my mind"
Neytiri looks at him for a moment. It was a traumatic event for the family especially when Y/n was the youngest at that time. Neytiri cups his lovers face and makes him look her in the eyes, "Ma Jake. He is here, with us. Alive and safe, can't you see that?" "He was only four when that happend. If only I had been quicker on-" Neytiri interrupts him with a kiss which is something rare "Stop blaming yourself for something that you cannot prevent" Jake still blames himself with what happends to Y/n and just hours ago he almost lost his other sons.
Y/n's POV
The next day went just like I predicted. I was so stupid to think that it could come true. Dad has problems to take care of so he can't spend time with me. Again. I can only think positively that there would always be a next time or a next day. I was extremely sad and upset with him so I went inside my tent to make an accessory for Tuk, at first I felt fine when dad said that to me.
But then now I felt like someone that's.. not even there, useless compare to my older siblings. I wasn't strong like my brothers, or smart and special like Kiri or even as bright and joyful like Tuk... A tear suddenly dropped down from my eye without me even realizing, dad doesn't care how I feel. Am I really that weak?
Suddenly someone came into the tent, I quickly wipe my tears "Y/n are you crying?" It was Lo'ak...Shit, I forget he was grounded.
~~~
Y/n was silent for a while to calm down his feelings, "I was just upset the accessory didn't came out as I wanted" Lo'ak rolls his eyes "You'd never cry over something like that, are you having a bad day?" "I'm not having a bad day."
Lo'ak replied a bit mockingly "You suuuree? Is it because of you getting rejected by a girl again?" "Stop it Lo'ak. I don't like anyone" "So why are you crying?" Y/n looked back at him "I'm not!" "Woww getting defensive are we, yea....you were probably crying"
Y/n clenched his fist and throws the unfinished accessory to Lo'ak "Ow! That hurts you meanie..." "Leave me alone you skxawng!! I HATE YOU!" As much as Y/n loved his brother, sometimes he gets on his nerve "So what if I'm crying?! It's not your business!!" Y/n was shouting at this point and his eyes began to water again. Lo'ak realized that something was really hurting his baby brother. Out of instinct he hugged Y/n.
Y/n hits Lo'ak shoulder "Let me go! You idiot!" He tries to get away from Lo'ak hug but that plan quickly failed.
After calming down, Y/n felt his brother stroking his head trying to comfort him. It was something Y/n would always do to Neteyam and Lo'ak whenever they had a bad day. "It's because of dad isn't it?" Y/n stayed quiet. "Y/n listen to me your not weak" Lo'ak says but Y/n scoffs in response "I can't even defend myself from the bullies and I don't have any kind of freedom. If I'm not weak I could've joined you guys out there"
Lo'ak pulls away from Y/n and holds his shoulder. "Then how about we go an a little adventure?" Lo'ak was smiling at this point and Y/n knew he was up to something. ".....you mean like going out?" "Yeah, while your big brother is here let's go out and explore. I'll take you to our hideout!"
Y/n hesitates for a while, he was afraid Jake would get mad at him. "We'll be home before they'll be here, no one has to know" Y/n thinks for a while before saying "Alright. I haven't seen the forest for some quite time either"
Y/n can't believe this, he was really going out again into the wilderness. Lo'ak was leading them at front and Y/n was at the very back of the line as he was watching over Tuk. Honestly, Y/n didn't agree with her coming with them but everyone always loses with Tuk.
"Lo'ak, are you sure it's safe for Tuk to come with us?" Y/n said as he jumped from one root to another. "It's fine, there's me, Kiri and you"
"But why would you bring her in the first place?" Lo'ak turn to Y/n and Tuk "The honking princess. I'm gossiping. You must not go out to the battlefield. I'll tell mom if you don't take me." Lo'ak said mockingly and Tuk sticks her tongue out in response. "Come on guys! You're so slow" Spider said and they continue their little adventure.
After entering the forest, the others went along while Y/n stayed back for a while. It's been along time since he went into the forest and it was as beautiful as he imagined. He sees various types of plants and animal, and he can hear small chirps here and there, he even met his favorite animal the fan lizard. He slowly walked through the forest admiring everything. He then came across Kiri, sleeping on the forest ground.
He planned waking her up but he saw that she looked so peaceful. It was as if Eywa was with her, the ground around her beating as if it was alive. He decided to give her some time and went somewhere else.
As he went deeper he was stopped when a woodsprite approaching him.
Y/n smiles and overs his hand to it and as it landed on Y/n, his stripes glowed and he felt like a tingle resulting in him giggling. Another woodsprite came and land on his head and another.
His stripes glows even brighter and brighter, Y/n suddenly heard his name being called so he pulled away from the woodsprites and as he walks he saw the ground around him changed, it was full of flowers
"What the.."
"Y/n! Where are you?!" He heard Lo'ak shouted. He thought that maybe he just didn't noticed it before so he ran back to his siblings.
Time passes and they were walking back home when Lo'ak suddenly noticed something on the ground. Y/n looked over it and saw that it was like a na'vi footprint but different.
"We're always supposed to be home by eclipse" Tuk said commented
Lo'ak and Spider looks at the footprints again "Way too big for a human" "Avatars?" Spider asked. "Maybe, but they're sure not ours" they began to follow the footsteps "What are you doing?" Kiri asked. "Shh, I'm tracking" Y/n knew Lo'ak was going to follow it
"I don't think we should follow it" He said to them but none of his siblings listen to him. Lo'ak keeps on moving while the others follow.
Y/n sighs and grabs Tuk hand, hoping one of them would at least listen to him "Let's go home" "No! I also want to know" She refuses. Y/n turned to Kiri and saw her following the rest. Y/n had no choice but to follow his siblings since he wasn't familiar with the way home.
'Dad is going to kill me..' Y/n repeats those words in his mind
The atmosphere was quiet and no one dares to make a sound. Y/n immediately knew where this is was. He remebers their father warning them not to come here. Y/n was about to say something but Lo'ak covers his mouth and pointed in front of them. Y/n froze when saw avatars surrounding the old shack.
"Dad is going to ground you for life" Kiri whispered but Lo'ak just shushed her in response. "Bro, we've got to check this out, let's go" "Lo'ak no!" Y/n shout-whispered at him while grabbing his arms. Lo'ak looks back at Y/n, "We might need to report this to dad, me and Spider will go out so stay here" He answered whispering back. Y/n gave him a 'you serious' look and whispered back "I'm coming with you, if anything both of you are very stubborn" "sounds fair then, let's go" Spider said before going first silently
The three of them sneak from behind the bushes and trees to take a better look. "Bro, that's where your dad and my dad fought" Spider said and Lo'ak commented "That's your dad actual suit" "Holy shit..." both of them looked amazed
"Both of you are unbelievable.." Y/n mumbled grumpily. He saw the avatars going outside and talks to eachother about something. "Better call this in" Lo'ak said. "No bro, we're gonna get in trouble" Spider protest but Lo'ak just takes Y/n's hand and drags him along "Let's go"
Lo'ak immediately called Jake and the others we're listening while Y/n just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
Y/n then heard Lo'ak mentioning their names hesitantly "There's me, Spider, Kiri... Tuk-" Y/n looked at him dead in the eye hoping he wouldn't say his name but Lo'ak didn't seemed to get it
"-and Y/n" Lo'ak looks a bit scared talking to his father and admitting he brought Y/n who was not allowed to go. Y/n can't listen to his father's voice because he doesn't wear any device but then Kiri takes his hand and Tuk's as Lo'ak said "Yes sir, moving out."
"What did dad say Kiri?" Y/n asked. "Of course he told us to get out of here, it's dangerous" Kiri replied and added "Lo'ak is going to be in a lot of trouble and none of us can save him now"
Y/n looked at her "Believe me, I wish his ass get spanked by dad"
Y/n's POV
We immediately stand up and began to retreat. Kiri kept on saying to Lo'ak that he's going to be in so much trouble and hoenstly I agree. Tuk was running infront of us so I immediately catch up to her and grab her hand. "It's almost eclipse, come on" Tuk said and in a second I heard something near us and immediately pushes Tuk behind me as we keep walking.
I turn my head to the group "Lo'ak there's something-" Suddenly someone grabs me and pulled my tsaheylu causing me to scream. The avatar from before held me still so I can't move.
"Y/N!!" My siblings shouted for my name and just like that we were surrounded by the avatars before. Lo'ak and Spider immediately prepares to fight them but they were holding guns.
"Put it down! Or I'll shoot!" I hear one of them say. I tried to fight back the avatar that was holding me but she yanked me up the ground by my hair and held a knife to my throat "Drop it or he gets it!" All of my siblings looked at me and I saw Tuk crying.
"L-Lo" I managed to say while I was in pain. Lo'ak looked at the avatar holding me furiously and finally said "Drop it" Spider lowers down his weapon and they immediately take a hold of everyone and forced them to kneel down harshly. "Get down on the ground. Stop fighting" one of them said as they harshly grab on Kiri's hair. "Check them for weapons" "Kiri!" Everyone was screaming and my head is hurting.
I can't focus on anything, I look at Lo'ak who was treated roughly and Spider. Tuk was scared and crying as they did the same to her. I was also finally set on the ground but her grip was still the same, not letting go and tears rolled down from my eyes seeing my siblings in pain. Tuk was so frightened..
"Tuk.. Tuk calm down, it's alright Tuk" I say to Tuk hoping she would calm down but she saw me crying shouted my name's and Kiri's.
"Be calm" Kiri said to her suprisingly calm although I knew she was also hurting. The soldiers checked us for weapons. After that they gathered us in a circle, the avatar women still has her knife up to my throat so I can't struggle much.
Tuk was looking at me, "Look away Tuk" I said to her shakingly and she did. I prayed to Eywa that our parents can find us soon and I heard the leader speaks, I turn to look at Lo'ak and he was also looking at me. I could see guilt and worry in his eyes, all of us are held captive by some unknown avatars.
~~~ (There's a lot of hair pulling in this scene I don't even know why 💀)
The colonel takes a look at the kids "What have we here?" He said and looked at Spider, probably confused to why there was a human but quickly shifted back it's focus on the others. One of them held Kiri's hand "Look, Colonel. Check it out. 5 fingers, We've got a half-breed" Kiri struggles and the avatar pulled on her head again.
He then turned to Lo'ak "Show me your fingers" Lo'ak looked back at him and raised his middle finger at him. Colonel only chuckles as he turned to Y/n. He sends a signal to his comrade and she lowers her knife from Y/n. "Would you look at this, a new hybird I suppose" Colonel said as he strokes Y/n's white hair. "You reminded me of someone.." he mumbled and Y/n stayed quiet. Eyes glaring at the Colonel as he reaches out and inspects Y/n's face left to right.
"You're his, aren't you?" He asked
Y/n tries to move his face away but the woman yanked his head upwards causing him to winced in pain. Lo'ak hissed at them "Don't touch him!"
He turns to Lo'ak amused. He walked towards him and grabs him by the hair, "Where is he?"
Lo'ak looks at him innocently "Unfortunately I don't speak english...with assholes"
Colonel answered him with a broken na'vi "Where is your father?" Clearly pissed. He pulled on Lo'ak's hair making him groan. Y/n's tail flicked left and right, scared that the soldier will do something to Lo'ak.
"Really? You wanna play it this way" He pulled out a knife and held it infront of Lo'ak.
Y/n's POV
"Don't harm him you fucker!" I shouted to him in english and he immediately stops. Lo'ak and Kiri stared at me before panicking.
He drops Lo'ak and approched me instead. "Y/n!" "No! Stop!" Kiri and Lo'ak shouted continously. "You seems to care for this little crybaby" He grab me from behind so I was facing Lo'ak and he inched the knife closer to my throat.
"Y/N!!"
I can feel the sharp edge piercing my skin. My siblings looked at me in horror and Lo'ak was fighting and pleading for him to stop.
"Hey! Hey! Don't hurt him please, stop it!" Spider shouted to the colonel and he got his attention. The colonel looked at him and drops me to the ground as I breathed out relieved.
"What’s your name kid?" He asked Spider
"Spider, Socorro" The colonel looked at him and asked him to be let go. He kneels infront of Spider and spoke out a name that I haven't even heard before "Miles?"
Spider looked at him with hatred "Nobody calls me that."
"I'll be damned. I figure they sent you back to Earth"
"Can't put babies in cryo dipshit." Spider replied and Colonel just looked at him as he stands up.
He uses his device and started to send coordinates about where we are. They pulled us up and force us to go back to the old shack.
They tied our hands and I was pushed to the ground beside Lo'ak. "What a freak" I hear one of them say. I completely stayed still, even though I've been hearing it for years it still bothers me in some way.
Lo'ak helps me sit up and hissed at them while they laughed. "You alright? Don't listen to them" He pulled me close and looked at my wound. "It's not that deep, I'm fine." I reassure him. His face was upset and sad so I just leaned on him. Sure the wound stings but it's bearable.
He held my hand, trying to comfort me. I was exhausted and my whole body ached at this point.
I heard an audio being played and they are pointing out it was dad and mom. I peeked over behind me and saw that they were watching a video of them battling. The colonel looked at me "Now I know why you're so familiar. A spitting image of your mother"
I hissed at him and turn away from them.
Hours passed by and the sun had already set. It was getting pretty dark. I was being held by the avatars when I suddenly hear a familiar calling. My ears perked up, trying to locate where the sound was. I look at Tuk and she seems to notice it too.
It was mom, I let out a small smile knowing that our parents are here. The others began to notice and stand on their ground on guard.
I saw that Kiri was praying to Eywa, the avatar told her to shut up but she didn't listen. But then in a flash the avatar that was holding her got shot in the head.
~~
The soldiers pushed away the kids and began to fire at Neytiri. Lo'ak triggers the smoke bom on the soldier and began to bite his way out of their grip. The others followed and as they began to run one of them grabbed Kiri's hair but got shot. Y/n was behind her and the colonel grip his hair, pulling him back as he fall.
"Lo'ak!" Y/n shouted in full panic. Lo'ak turned around and tries to go back for Y/n but Spider holds him back. "Lo'ak! Keep going!!" "LET GO! THEY HAVE Y/N!" "DON'T BE RECKLESS! JAKE AND NEYTIRI IS STILL THERE!" Spider shouted back at him. Lo'ak was conflicted but he knew that if he goes back the situation might get worse.
Quartich pulled Y/n beside him as he take cover. Y/n tried to run but Quartich wrapped his arm around him and reloaded his weapon. Y/n shouted in pain and his wound was pressed down. After he was done he covers Y/n's mouth to prevent him from making any noise and points his gun at him.
"Is that you, Mrs. Sully? I recognize your calling card!" Quartich shouted. Neytiri's breath hitched as she knew her son was being held by him. Quartich instructs one of the soldier to sneak around and kill Neytiri. Y/n tries to shout to warn his mom but his mouth was shut.
"Sh sh... don't want to ruin the surprise now do we?" Quartich said.
"Why don't you come on out Mrs. Sully? You seemed to drop one of your kids here. Why don't we have a little trade hm? Your son for our unfinished business."
Neytiri thinks for a while very carefully as she also ensures her other children are already at safety. She took a deep breath. Now she only have to save Y/n and kill the man holding her son.
"Demon! I will stop you as many times as I have to." She censored some of her words because she doesn't want Y/n to hear it.
"You and the corporal have been pretty busy haven't you? Got yourself a whole litter of half-breeds, I found one here looking exactly like his mother."
Quartich drags Y/n out of hiding. "Would be ashamed for this one to pass on early". Neytiri could hear Y/n muffled scream.
Y/n saw one of the soldiers pointing to where his mom were at and he started to trash around hoping his mother would noticed. As the soldier attempt to fire, an arrow suddenly shot him. Neteyam came in view.
Neytiri quickly shot quartich in the shoulder resulting his grip on Y/n to fall. Y/n quickly ran to where his mother were, he tried to go to Nete but the soldiers were in the way and he saw Jake pushing Neteyam out of the way.
"Mom!" Y/n shouted. Neytiri was not far up the branch above him. She quickly pulled Y/n up and began to run. As they were running, a rocket gun was fired at them, Neytiri and Y/n falls down to the ground but Neytiri quickly gets back up "Y/n! Get up!"
Y/n's ear was ringing but his mother pulled him up and they began to run again. They met Kiri who was shouting for Spider's name. Y/n looked down as saw he was hit, the soldiers were coming closer and Neytiri drag Kiri out from there.
Y/n was upset that Spider was taken from them. But that feeling soon was replaced with huge relief as he saw the rest. "Nete!" Y/n shouted as he ran to hug him. "Y/n! Are you okay?" Neteyam was looking for injury and saw that Y/n's neck had a cut. Neteyam looked at Lo'ak who were looking down. "I'm fine Nete" Y/n said as he looked at Kiri who were crying that Spider was taken
Y/n's POV
"Y/n." Dad called me, I looked up at him. His emotions were unreadable, I didn't know if he is upset or what. "Dad-"
Before I could finish talking he immediately noticed my neck "Don't talk, your wound might get worse" he said to me. I instinctively shut up and look down.. dad is probably mad at me after what I did. "I'm sorry" I whispered. He walked closer to me and pulled me into a hug. "There's no need to apologize I'm glad your safe"
I hugged him back and Tuk joined. Definitely was not expecting a hug but I could use some of that. After a while all of us went back to the camp. Mo'at was taking care of my wound when Tuk suddenly came inside

You stared at your reflection in the clear blue pond, and you hated what you saw. The small eyes, the hair on your eyebrow bone, the five fingers. The familiar pang of hatred filled your chest and spread all over your body like a forest fire, burning you. You hated the Sky people's features your Avatar body had. You hated how you looked so different from your clan, your people.
“Bro, you coming? Or are you too obsessed with yourself?” Lo’ak jokes from his place on a tree branch and Neyetam laughs at it. Right now you're tracking your Sa’nok for hunting practice with your Sempu and tsumkans.
“Hey,” Jake scolds them, “stop messing around and get over here.” He continues further into the forest, light on his feet and not leaving a trail.
“You heard the sergeant. Let’s go.” Lo’ak says mockingly and follows their Sempu’s path with Neteyam.
So you do what you do best and pretend that these feelings do not exist. Like they don’t keep you up at night or creep into your mind when you're at peace. You pretend to be okay. You pick up your bow and arrows and slowly walk into the forest.
By now, there are not any signs of your family but you see the slight messing up of rocks that weren’t there earlier. Even though you’re supposed to be tracking, you can’t help but marvel at the beauty of Pandora’s rainforest. The big lush green plants and canopy of towering trees surrounded them, the animals scurrying around them.
According to your birth parents, scientists turned warriors, back on Earth, tight spaces and skyscrapers were all that there was and most rainforests were either man-made or photos. Your parents…you missed them a lot. Every time you crossed a milestone, your mind wanders to them. What it would’ve been like, should've been like.
You heard something, instantly snapping you out of your thoughts. Muscle memory makes you grab your bow and arrow, and silences your heart to better your hearing. You hear the crunching and rustling of leaves from two different directions.
You slowly walk to a vantage spot where you can see both of the animals. Or ambushers. You ready your bow and take aim at the spot. You speak with a clear and loud voice, “Whoever you are here, come out right now.” In case it wasn’t an animal.
You waited but silence greeted you, and it stretches to the point where you wondered if you was imagining it from being on edge. But the sound of soft snickers hit your ears and you tried to not growl in annoyance. It wasn’t the deep voice of your Sempu nor the soft one of your Sa’nok.
“Lo’ak, I know that it is you,” you grumble and put your arrows back into the satchel. Lo and behold your tsumkan pop out from the bushes along with your Sempu, surprisingly.
You tilt your head to the side in confusion, “I expected this from Lo’ak, but you Sempu?”
Your Sempu gives you a teasing smirk and shrugs, “Made for a good test on your reflects.” He comes closer and put his warm hands on your shoulders. “You passed, good job ma ‘itan. Now let’s go back, your Sa’nok and Neteyam are already there.”
You walk back to High Camp. It was more a fortress than a village since the Sky people came back with their war and destruction. Led to a massive forest fire, many older Na’vi said it was reminiscent of the destruction of Hometree. That’s when the side eyes and comments began.
“It was totally so he can sneak up on you, dude. Shoulda saw the pout he had when you called our buff.” Lo’ak informs you, slinging an arm on your shoulder as the both of you stroll back to camp.
The walk was mostly silent, each lost in their own world. But you could feel something was off with your tsmukan. He kept biting his lips and not so sneaky glancing his way before hastily avoiding eye contact whenever your eyes met.
Fed up with this, you abruptly stopped the walk and asked, “Okay, what’s with the looks you keep giving me?”
“The better question, is what’s with you?” He asked accusingly with his arms crossed around his torso. If your heart wasn’t thundering inside of your chest from nervousness, you would’ve commented on how much he resembles your Sempu.
“With me? Lo-” You tried to deflect but Lo’ak wasn’t fooled.
“Don't give me that bullshit, dude. It may work with our parents but not with me.” He pressed on, backing you into a corner, literally and metaphorically.
“I’m fine, okay. Just drop it, you won’t understand,” you say in irritation, fed up with your tsmukan usual pesky persistence.
Maybe Lo’ak would understand. The accusing stares whenever they walked around the camp. People became bolder when you weren't with your parents about their distaste for your existence. But maybe at the same time, he wouldn't.
He was Na’vi, more than you ever would be, and his hairy eyebrows and five fingers will never take that away. No one can ever take that away. With you it was different, you was like Jake, an Avatar, a sky person, a demon. And unlike Jake, you did not prove yourself worthy of being there, your parents did.
You were allowed to stay because your parents, brilliant and brave scientists, gave their lives to protect the Na’vi. And Jake is the Toruk Makto, they can’t deny him.
But they can deny you.
“Dude, hello?” Lo’ak shakes you out of your thoughts. “You’ve been really in your head lately. So something must be wrong. C’mon, you can talk to me.”
“Please, Lo’ak, just drop it.” You hang your head in shame.
How can you be a good chief if you can’t even reassure your own little tsumkan? Bet Neteyam never has to do that.
Thankfully, Lo’ak does drop his questions and you make it back to dinner just in time. Sa’nok and Sempu were setting the plates on the table while Tuk was talking Kiri’s ears off again.
“That was a long walk,” Kiri notes, looking them up and down with suspicion in her eyes.
“At least they are back before Eclipse. Sa’nok and Sempu would’ve had you guys’ heads”, Neteyam jokes.
“Yea,” Tuk, ever the annoying little sister peers up at the two, “what were you two doing?”
You made note of your parents' ears tilting in their direction, yet they made no move to ask either of their sons. He had to be careful in his answer.
“Why are you guys so nosy?! It’s bad enough we gotta share a room,” Lo’ak huffs in bitterness. Made sense, he was a frequent victim of Tuk’s “jumping on you for my enjoyment” attacks.
Sitting down next to your Sempu, you answer, “We were just talking about guy stuff.”
Instantly, Kiri and Tuk became disinterested and began eating their food. Neteyam was only half-listening to the conversation. Too hungry to care or tease his tsmukes. This however got the attention of your parents though.
“What exactly was said?” Jake presses on, a glimmer of mirth in his eyes. You could see a slight smirk forming on Netyiri’s face as she chewed her food.
“Sempu,” you looked tiredly at him after realizing that this was just a joke for their suffering. Sometimes parents can be so cruel.
After dinner, you headed out to practice your aim some more. It wasn’t really practiced but more of a way to keep your mind from wandering to those thoughts. Those ugly thoughts drowned you and took away your air.
“Are you going out again?” Your Sa’nok questioned looking at your bow and arrows in hand. When you nod, she shakes her head and tsk. “You have been practicing too much lately. Go take a break, now.”
“But Sa’nok-”
“No.” She takes the weapons from your hands. “You can go out on your ikran but no training.”
“Oh, you’re going out,” Lo’ak comes out, looking suspicious. Almost like this was planned. “Mind if I go with?”
This was clearly a setup with Lo’ak’s terrible acting. Despite this, you nod and mount your ikran.
You remembered when you made the bond with (ikran/name), there were many times when you felt like you would die. But you made the bond and took off with your ikran. For a whole month, your Sempu bragged about how his amazing son broke his record. The Toruk Matko’s record.
The memory warmed your but immediately grew cold. You can’t help but recount some of the looks of the older Na’vi. They did not look proud or delighted, more like with irritation and disbelief. The same Na’vi, however, wore a look of pride when Neteyam got his ikran. When Sempu bragged about Neteyam.
It was then you saw the differences in how you, Kiri, and Lo’ak were treated when compared to Neteyam and Tuk. And it was clear as day as to why.
“Rioe is such a bitch,” Lo’ak groaned. He flew his ikran closer to mine and gestured widely with his hands.
Your brother goes on to vibrantly describe what Rioe Te Rewui Rärä'ite said to him and how they got into their daily arguments. This Rioe girl has been bothering Kiri for a while about her non-Na’vi features and then when Kiri, in true Kiri fashion, didn’t give her the satisfaction, Rioe turned her eyes on Lo’ak. Who would gladly return the fire, with zero hesitation.
You give your tsmukan the same advice you’ve always given him. Go tell your parents to clear this whole thing up. But like always he refuses the advice with pride. So much like Sempu would’ve done.
“Really? You're not gonna ask for help because of your pride? Talk about shallow.”
Lo’ak gives you a side-eye that can rival Neteyam’s. “You're a real hypocrite. I hope you know that.” He flew his ikran higher into the sky with annoyance. The sky was cool against your face and the stars were beautiful tonight. Clouds were sparse.
You guide your ikran to follow after him, so close that the creatures nearly touch and give soft growls in response. Clearly sensing the growing irritation of both their owners. “We are talking about you, not me.”
“Well, maybe we should talk about you. You seem...to be y’know,” he falters a bit and doesn’t finish his sentence. Clearly at loss on how to say whatever he wants to.
You both fall into an uncomfortable silence that doesn’t often happen with you guys. Mostly because there was never silence, always talking or laughing, frequently both.
Lo’ak was the first to break the silence, his voice soft but verging on breaking, “We used to tell each other everything. And now, you tell me nothing.”
You sit with that information. Replaying it in your head, latching on to each word, and dissecting it. He was right. You don’t tell him much or anything anymore. You didn’t even notice it, you can’t even pinpoint when you stopped telling him.
And like a coward, you couldn’t even raise your head to tell him you were sorry for it.
“Lots has been on my mind, Lo’. I am sorry though,” you deflect instead. “Eywa, the sky is-“
“Don’t”, his voice is low and agitated. “You are suffering. And you won’t let anyone in. Why?” He demanded of you.
“This…this is just different, Lo’ak. I don’t know, but it feels different, and I don’t think you’ll get it.” You said all of this without even the courtesy of looking into his eyes.
You heard him scoff at your flimsy excuse and heard the flapping of wings. You looked up to see his figure getting smaller and smaller as he headed back home.
You slowly exhaled and inhaled to calm your nerves. You knew that this was a setup to get you to talk, and you knew that it would end badly. But you didn’t think it’ll end this badly. When it comes to Lo’ak, if he walks, or flies away in this case, you and he are not on speaking terms. Just what you needed.
The tension between you and Lo’ak was present even though you tried your hardest to be normal about it. But it was hard to when he would stubbornly refuse to interact with you, for even the smallest of things.
Like you would ask him to pass your knife and he’d tell Tuk to do it and leave. It was rather aggravating but two can play this game.
“Okay, so now you take the knife and slice it through here, slowly, Lo’ak,” Sa’nok instructed.
Right now, Neytiri was teaching them to cut the meat they just caught from their hunt. The game was in the middle and all of us were in a circle surrounding it.
Lo’ak was cutting into the side of a Yerik, and he was obviously struggling. The cut wasn’t clean straight down, instead, there were jagged lines from his continuous stopping and starting. It was a sad sight to see, honestly.
“Oh, Eywa, how could he be this bad?” Kiri whispered to you, causing you to snicker. He really was horrendous at it.
“Come hold this done for your tsmukan,” Sa’nok ordered you. From the way her eyes were fixated on yours, this was something you could not refuse.
So you got up and slowly walked towards Lo’ak. His displeasure with what was happening was evident in the way his jaw tensed and the increased gripe on the hunting knife. But he didn't verbalize it, fearing the wrath of Neytiri.
You both worked together, you holding down the animal and Lo’ak cutting it. The silence was uneasy and made the time drag slowly like a snail.
“Y’know, if you would just tell me-” Lo’ak began to whisper. You cut him off with a deadly look, you were tired of having this same endless conversation with him.
“No, and acting like a child because I won’t tell you will not get me to tell you.” You growled at him.
He huffed and kept quiet after that. You caught Sa’nok looking at you both in the corner of your eye, and you had no doubt that she saw and heard that entire exchange. Just great, another person on your case.
After the lesson, Sa’nok pulled you both aside for a “chat”. There you sat in front of her, it was terrifying, I mean who wouldn’t be terrified at being stared down by their Sa’nok? But this was Neytiri we were talking about here. A fierce warrior in her own right and the dead silence with prolonged eye contact made you unnerved.
“Well?” She asked, leaning against a tree. We were a far way from our home, in the jungle. Little creatures ran across the ground and the wind flowing provided some breeze to cool you down. Unfortunately, it couldn’t calm your heart. You felt trapped, and it’s funny because all of the walls you built to keep your family out are coming down. And you feel trapped because of it. Isn’t that ironic?
“We just had a disagreement, Sa’nu,” Lo’ak lied through his teeth easily. Maintained eye contact and didn’t think too hard about his answer, but that wouldn’t fool Neytiri.
“Try again, Lo’ak,” she replied, “and try to not lie to me this time. You two are close and now suddenly, you treat each other like strangers. Something is wrong and you refuse to talk about it. So talk, now.” She got up from her spot and climbed the tree with expertise. She went up far so that she wouldn’t us but not too far so she could see if we tried to run.
“Have I done something wrong?” Lo’ak asked. It was..it was unlike his previous questions, full of accusations of mistrust. “We used to go to each other for anything, everything. And now you shut me out. You shut everyone out, (Y/N).”
“But, Lo’ak you wouldn’t get it…”, you protest weakly, you don’t even believe the words coming out of your mouth. At least you don’t fully believe them, you just say them hoping they’ll work. They never do.
He scoffs at this and narrows his eyes at you, “You keep saying that. I won’t understand this, I won’t understand that. But you never tell me what I’m not understanding so just tell me. Tell me so I can understand and help you, tsumkan.”
“You can’t, Lo’ak! You can’t help me with this, no one can help me with this but myself. It’s like you said, ‘If go to our parents then what does say about me?’ And I know what your gonna say, hypocrite, and your right I am one. But this issue...it’s…it’s more than just bullying or alienating. It’s different, and I don’t think anyone can fix it but me. Besides, how can I lead our people if I cannot handle this on my own?” You argued against him, frustration swells into your chest. This argument is going nowhere at all.
“Gah, you skxawng! Why do you act like being the Olo’eyktan means that you would be alone with all of the clan duties on your back! Sempu gets a lot of help, he’s never alone. So why do you assume you would be? That makes no freaking sense and we both know it!” He screams at you, becoming louder and louder with every word.
You didn't realize either of you weas moving until your back came against the tree. Just great, you were trapped yet again.
Lo’ak’s face crumbles and the anger he exhibited earlier is gone. “I just want to help my tsmukan, that is all I want to do. I see that you are hurting, and it might not be exactly the same way, but the reason is the same, right? Because we are not full Na’vi.” He chuckles dryly looking at his hands, his five-finger hands. “Because we are part Demon, right?”
Your head hangs low in shame, “Yea, it is. But like I said, Lo’ak, I got this. You don't gotta worry, okay.”
But despite the smile you plastered onto your face, you didn't believe a word you said. And honestly, you got the feeling neither did Lo’ak.
Like, reblog, or comment if you wish. See ya in the next one, friends.
Reminder: My asks, suggestions, and requests are all open so don't be afraid to pop in.

“Jake is a bad father.”
I’m gonna need ya’ll to understand that just because a character is considered a “good guy/hero” does not necessarily mean you should be applying modern real life moral values to them. Jake is born 100+ years in the future, he’s on a completely different planet, him and his family are a different species than us, he’s apart of a completely different culture, he exists in a different social climate, he is at war, and they are fictional. Contextually all this information is so important because it tells us none of these people (no matter how moral or ethical or lawfully good) are not going to perceive what is “right” the same way we are. Because the world that teaches them what “right” and “wrong” are, is a very different world than the one we know. Automatically assuming that a fictional character that doesn’t do exactly what you think they should do is inherently wrong, lacks serious media literacy and basic understanding of fiction as a genre.
#they are meant to be complex individuals in a sci-fi story not 2023 irl parents tf are ya’ll on#it is also important to remember that jake and neytiri have been parents for 14-15 years and we have no idea what happened during that time#it is also implied that jake only started parenting this way when his children were almost getting themselves killed repeatedly#in the opening train attack scene people DIED because lo’ak and neteyam were on the ground instead of spotting the incoming chopper#considering there was actual loss of life directly caused by his son’s actions he was absolutely not too hard on them#I don’t like that he makes them call him sir but in the middle of a battle acting like a commander instead of a dad could save their lives#once they are not in the middle of a battle anymore I would also like for Jake to be more gentle#but that is easier said than done because once again they are AT WAR it literally changes everything#honestly the most problematic part of jake’s parenting imo is that he has a nuclear family mentality instead of a community family mentality#and the reason i take issue with that is because contextually someone who’s lead a tribe for 15 years simply would not think that way#how who when why where are important aspects to consider when analyzing media#avatar james cameron#jake sully#sully family#neytiri#atwow spoilers#atwow#neytiri x jake#lo’ak#neyteyam#kiri sully#tuk sully

Mama's boy
Pair: Jake x neytiri x human reader (trio couple) x sully children's
Warning: none, lo'ak being a sweet little potato for is mama. Sweet family moment.
Request: (anon) You were incredible in these new chapters, if it wasn't much, I would have been able to do a trisal story about Jake, neitiry and reader human where she has 2 more hybrid children (half human,Half na'vi)..
Note: I have always believed that avatars may be able to reproduce with humans. Both males and females. Since there are human traits in their DNA. So both jake and his children could reproduce with any human. That is my theory.
AVATAR MASTERLIST | Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6(final)
You loved days like this, it was a fresh and calm day in the jungle of Pandora. No one in the family had anything important to do. Just relax and spend time together. If anyone had told you that in a few years you were going to be sitting quietly on the floor of your home. With your son on your lap, while playing with one of his toys. With such loving partners, you wouldn't have believed them. And you had a good point for not believing. Neytiri and Jake were your mates, while you were human. The only human who was mated to two na'vi. The only human who had given birth to a na'vi baby, naturally.
Lo'ak had been born as a na'vi. With his distinctive braid, tail, skin color, ears etc. Just like his father, jake. But his human features were always there, he inherited your hands, some facial features that made him different from his siblings. Like kiri, they were a mixture of human and na'vi. This was not important to you, in your family these differences were not important and everyone was treated equally.
Neytiri was running around in circles playing with kiri, while neteyam was playing with jake. Meanwhile lo'ak was sitting very comfortably on your lap. Sucking his little finger, while you cuddled him. He was very peaceful, well…when he was with you. The bond that lo'ak had with you was very strong, he needed his mommy with him all the time. Neteyam and kiri were more active, while lo'ak preferred to be by your side. You tried to keep him away from you, so that he would become more independent. But it was all in vain, even mo'at herself told you that this was normal. That eventually he would become more independent, but he was already 5 years old, and he didn't seem to improve. Of course, this never bothered you… lo'ak became your own tail. Always behind you. Lo'ak could be with neytiri, about 3 to 5 hours. But then he would cry for you to hold him, and it was the same with jake. Lo'ak just wanted to be with you.
Neteyam ran to you, hugging you. The boy was about your size, but you didn't care. Hugging him back, to give him lots of kisses on his cheeks. Neteyam didn't notice but pushed lo'ak off your lap, causing the boy to fall to the ground. "mama… I want to be with you" says neteyam, now sitting where lo'ak once was. Lo'ak immediately began to cry. It was a very big and exaggerated whine. "Calm love…neteyam needs to be with me too" you try to calm him down, but you could barely touch him. Because neteyam was curled up on your chest. Neytiri comes closer, taking lo'ak in her arms to calm him down.
After a long six minutes, lo'ak calms down. But you can see how the child looks down from above, on Neytiri's shoulder. His eyes were watery and he was pouting. You try to ignore him, he has to learn that you were not only from him. Neteyam was also your son, as was Kiri. And they too demanded your attention. Kiri approaches his younger brother, hopping from neytiri's feet. "You're a mama's boy… an ugly, crying baby," Kiri says jokingly. Neytiri scolds her, while you and jake couldn't hold in the laughter. It was funny, but you take Kiri by the arm. Sitting her down next to you.
"Kiri…that's not right, lo'ak is special. He needs a lot of love" says neytiri holding the child in her arms, hoping he doesn't start crying. "No…mama is mine!!!!" says neteyam, hugging your neck more. Lo'ak whimpers, lifting his head from neytiri's shoulder. "Noooo mama is mine" shouts lo'ak.
"No!!!, only mine!!!" neteyam yells back, sticking out his tongue. This makes lo'ak upset, and he starts to cry. "nooo mama!!!! Let go of neteyam!!!!! Mama let go of me, I want to go on the floor" lo'ak is crying, while neytiri giggles a little. It's adorable to watch as the two children fight for your attention. Jake gets up from the floor, walking to your direction and taking neteyam from your lap. To now lay him down on the floor. Kneeling on the floor to carry you in his arms, bridal style. You laugh, as the children begin to whine.
"Technically, your mom is all mine" jake says, sticking his tongue out at his kids, reaching over to give you a kiss on your forehead. Watching as they start to whine. Neytiri was giggling, while now all the kids wanted her to carry them to keep up with jake. "Well…I'd say I'm more Neytiri's than yours" you say, reaching up to give him a kiss on the tip of his nose. (Y/N is wearing the oxygen mask I'm always mentioning, "click here" to learn more about it) Neytiti lets out a loud laugh, you could see her cheeks turn purple. Neytiri had a soft spot for you. Jake lets out a sigh of surrender and hugs you tighter. Leaving kisses on your neck, while you laugh.
In the evening, everyone was settled in their respective hammocks. You were finishing getting Kiri settled, while Jake put the boys to bed. After a while, you lay down in your own hammock, you were tired. You were about to go to sleep, when you feel little hands touching your arm. You open your eyes, finding lo'ak's little face. The child had his arms outstretched for you to carry him. Laughing a little, you hold the child. And settle him on your chest. Snuggling him with your arms, giving him lots of kisses on the crown of his head. "My beautiful baby…you are sad" you lullaby to lo'ak. He only responds with a "hmmm" and falls asleep in your arms.
Jake comes up to you one last time, to check that all was well. As he approaches, he notices how you and lo'ak were cuddling. "I imagined he was with you," Jake said softly. Leaning in to give you a kiss on the tip of your nose. "Well… you know what he's like" you joke. "He's a mama's boy…a cute mama's boy. You know…" jake pauses, thinking about how he was going to say what he was going to say next. "Eventually you'll have to let him grow up…kids his age are more independent and " jake is interrupted, when one of your hands goes to his mouth. "Shhh shut up…when it's time, he'll grow up on his own…in the meantime we'll be here for him." you speak, slapping jake's arm playfully. There was a small silence, until you see a playful smile on Jake's lips.
"Babe…why don't you leave lo'ak here quietly and come sleep with me and neytiri" jake takes your hand and gives it a kiss on the palm, causing you to giggle and blush. "Together…the three of us" jake jokes biting your fingers. You laugh softly, trying not to wake lo'ak. You think about it for a moment, and the truth is you missed sleeping with jake and neytiri. Lo'ak consumed too much of your time, so you accept Jake's offer. You carefully settled lo'ak down, making sure he was comfortable.
Jake was behind you, excited. You could hear his tail bump between his legs. He held your hand, walking quickly to the hammock that you and Jake and Neytiri usually shared. Neytiri watches as you and Jake approach. She gets excited, it had been about 3 months since you last slept with them. Reaching out her hand, she takes yours. You climb in easily, feeling Jake hold you around the waist. Both of you settling into the hammock. You were in the middle of them, neytiri hugged you. While Jake hugs you from behind, burying his head in the back of your neck. "I missed this," says neytiri, enjoying the comfort. A couple of minutes later, lo'ak's crying began to be heard. You lift your head from neytiri's chest, beginning to stand up. When you feel her hug you tighter. "No… Y/N you must let him calm down himself" neytiri says. "Y/N, neytiri is right" jake speaks.
"He ate, he's clean and he's comfortable. He can be alone" says neytiri, she was serious. You knew you had to leave him alone, but lo'ak was your baby. Your only baby. "If he doesn't stop crying in five minutes, I'll go check on him. You stay here and rest," Jake speaks, kissing your shoulder. Your partner had you in his arms, if it wasn't for that you'd be at lo'ak's side by now. And as if by magic, lo'ak stopped crying. Jake got out of the hammock and checked from afar. Seeing how the child had already fallen asleep.
"See…it's all right," says Neytiri, hugging you even tighter. You snuggle closer to her. As you feel jake settle in behind you. Hugging you both. This parenting thing was all new to all of you.

♡ I See You

Pairing ── Neteyam x Fem!Omaticaya!Reader Word ── 3k Synopsis ── In which Neteyam gets jealous about the reader having a lot of suitors, as he wants her for himself. Warnings ── A jealous!Neteyam, a little bit of angry!Neteyam, Neteyam wanting to confess to Y/N but having an internal block, Possessive!Neteyam? Yandere!Neteyam?! o.O (I wasn't expecting this as I wrote it, fr) Fluffy moments ahead! Let me know if I should warn something :) A/n ── This is my first fic/imagine of Neteyam (hearts in my eyes). I saw the film a long time ago, but I never wrote an imagine for this lovely boy. But now, here I am! Let me know if you liked it <3 Images are not mine, so credit goes to the respective owners. English is not my first language!
Neteyam was irritated. Anyone who looked at him could tell he was practically steaming, his narrowed eyes glued to the ground, his firm steps carrying him somewhere far away from the clan before he did something he might regret—or something that would earn him a stern lecture (and punishment) from Jake later on.
Once again, the eldest Sully had seen Y/n being politely courted by one of the other boys in the clan. He chuckled bitterly to himself, almost scoffing. Of course, Y/n was being courted by every young Omaticaya in the hopes of making her their mate.
If this had been a few years ago, back when Neteyam wasn’t even aware of Y/n’s existence—too busy with training and missions assigned by his father—he wouldn’t have cared about her constantly being approached. But from the moment he truly noticed her, something inside him had shifted. And that something drove him to the brink of madness every time another boy approached her.
Of course, he couldn’t expect that not to happen. Y/n was, by far, the most beautiful young woman in the clan. But it wasn’t just that. It wasn’t only her perfectly amber eyes, designed so flawlessly by Eywa, or her long, dark hair that seemed to reflect all of Pandora’s natural light, or even her radiant smile that adorned her small, round face so perfectly. No, it was more than just her looks, though the entire clan—especially the young Omaticaya men—had to notice those things about her, too.
Still, Neteyam was utterly jealous. And furious. He couldn’t just hide Y/n away from everyone, keep her somewhere safe where only he could see her, appreciate her, talk to her. Maybe even touch her—if he didn’t combust from the thought alone.
Every time he interacted with Y/n, Neteyam’s heart would pound harder and faster, his face would flush, and his palms would sweat. When he first started feeling this way, the Omaticaya thought he was ill and grew concerned, which drew Jake’s attention. Eventually, Neteyam couldn’t keep it to himself and told his father what was bothering him.
Jake Sully had to fight back a laugh when his eldest said he was in love—though not in those exact words. Still, Jake kept a serious face to maintain his authority. Jake liked Y/n; she was a good girl. He had practically watched her grow up, just as he’d watched Neteyam grow up. But he didn’t like how much she was distracting his son. As a final piece of advice, the patriarch told his son to focus harder on his training until he felt ready to confess his feelings.
And so, until that day came, Neteyam settled for forming a friendship with the young woman. He poured himself into his training, trying harder every day to push those feelings away.
Neytiri, on the other hand, had noticed what was happening without needing a word from Neteyam. She saw how he acted whenever Y/n was nearby during any clan gathering. She saw his reactions as he struggled to hide his emotions, forget them, and behave naturally around the girl. Neytiri liked Y/n, too. She thought the young woman was beautiful, talented, and caring. If it was Eywa’s will, she would gladly welcome Y/n as a daughter when Neteyam finally woke up and claimed her as his mate.
But Neytiri thought that day might take a while—and she hoped it wouldn’t be too late by the time Neteyam finally confessed.
“Neteyam?” Y/n’s sweet, melodic voice called from behind him, breaking through his thoughts. He kept walking, his long, purposeful strides carrying him anywhere far from the girl who occupied his mind—and who was now standing right behind him.
Neteyam didn’t stop walking, but his ears, along with the stiffness in his tail and shoulders, betrayed that he had heard Y/n and was fully aware of her presence.
Y/n was confused but decided to follow him in silence. She trailed after the boy through paths filled with lush vegetation and small animals, eventually arriving at a breathtaking view of Pandora from the heights of one of the great trees. The girl smiled at the sight but quickly turned her attention to Neteyam, noticing how he stood quietly, avoiding her gaze, seemingly trying to calm himself.
“Did something happen?” Y/n asked softly, taking a careful step closer but keeping some distance between them.
Neteyam swallowed down the words that were forming like a lump in his throat—words like: You shouldn’t be accepting courtships when I’m around. But he couldn’t hold back the frustrated sigh that escaped his lips. “It’s nothing,” he replied simply and calmly. He would never burden her with his confusion or irritation. After all, it wasn’t her fault she was so beautiful and skilled.
“Nete, it doesn’t seem like nothing,” Y/n said with a small laugh. The moment the nickname left her lips, Neteyam’s heart jumped wildly in his chest.
Still, he remained silent, his face beginning to flush as he stood there, choosing to focus on the view of Pandora. The sun was already starting to set, making way for the night.
“Well... I’m sorry. I guess I shouldn’t have meddled…” Y/n said softly after receiving no response, her tone a little embarrassed. She had known Neteyam for years and had never wanted to be a burden to him—quite the opposite.
The Omaticaya girl had always had her eyes on the eldest Sully, the first son of Toruk Mak'to, even before they had built their friendship. Of course, her feelings weren’t tied to his status as the son of a leader but rather to Neteyam’s gentle yet strong demeanor.
His sharp, observant eyes. His posture—one that had been largely shaped by Jake Sully’s expectations, yet which Neteyam carried with a natural grace. His careful, steady way of speaking, free of judgment. And, most of all, the way he would laugh wholeheartedly whenever he had to save Lo’ak from his own troubles.
"I... I didn’t mean to bother you, Neteyam. Sorry," Y/n said, clasping her hands together. Her ears lowered softly, and her tail stopped swaying slowly from side to side.
Before she could leave, though, the Omaticaya stopped her.
"No," Neteyam said quickly, finally meeting her eyes. He straightened himself, feeling the warmth on his face intensify, spreading to his ears, neck, and soon, he was sure, his chest. Taking an almost imperceptible deep breath, he added, "You're not a bother. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to." His voice was soft, and he moved closer to the edge of the tree, sitting down and letting his long legs dangle in the air. The last thing he wanted was for Y/n to think she was a nuisance.
The girl smiled slightly at his words, a bit of her earlier energy returning. Being near Neteyam was gratifying, and she loved it. She loved talking to him, feeling close to him in any way. With gentle steps, she moved to sit beside him, admiring the view.
"This is beautiful," Y/n said, her gaze fixed on the scenery—the setting sun casting its warm hues over Pandora.
Neteyam turned his eyes to her again, mesmerized by the golden light illuminating her face, enhancing her already stunning features.
"It really is," Neteyam replied calmly, though his gaze wasn’t on the scenery but on Y/n.
As soon as she looked at him, he quickly averted his eyes, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Is Jake being hard on you with training, Nete?" Y/n tried to start a conversation. "Is that why you were so upset?"
"A little..." Neteyam replied, avoiding her gaze. He wasn’t telling the full truth, but it wasn’t entirely a lie either. Jake always seemed to expect more and more from him. "I’m just a bit tired, that’s all."
"No days off, huh?" Y/n chuckled softly through her nose. "Jake just wants you to be perfect, Nete. You’re the leader’s son, Toruk Mak’to’s son. There are a lot of expectations for you to meet."
"And that doesn’t help me at all," the boy replied, eliciting laughter from the Omaticaya beside him. Neteyam allowed himself a small smile as he listened to her laugh, watching her face light up.
"The hunting ritual is coming up..." the girl pointed out, softly swinging her legs where they hung over the edge. "Maybe Jake will let you rest after that."
"I’m not so sure about that."
A comfortable silence settled between them. Y/n turned her gaze back to the breathtaking scenery, but Neteyam’s eyes stayed fixed on her, admiring her quietly. He loved moments like this—talking to Y/n, sitting in silence with Y/n. Everything about it felt natural. Like it was meant to be.
"You... you’ll have to make a big choice," Y/n began softly, her voice tinged with hesitation. She swallowed hard and took a deep breath.
Neteyam didn’t entirely understand her words but chose to remain quiet. Deep down, he knew he could listen to Y/n talk for hours—even if, perhaps, he didn’t fully grasp everything she said.
"Have you already chosen?" Y/n asked timidly, her eyes finally meeting his. Neteyam hadn’t taken his gaze off her.
"Chosen?" Neteyam echoed, a little confused, snapping out of the dreamy state her presence always seemed to put him in.
"I mean... your mate, of course," Y/n clarified, her voice quieter now, tinged with embarrassment.
The truth was, Y/n was scared of his answer. If Neteyam said yes, if he already had someone in mind to share his life with, it would crush any hope she had. But even so, she needed to know.
"Mate?" Neteyam repeated, slightly stunned. Her gaze bore into him, making him straighten his posture. He swallowed hard under her careful observation of his sharp, strong features. "No... I-I haven’t," he stammered, finally looking away. His ears twitched anxiously.
The truth was that Neteyam’s heart had already answered the question for him—loudly and undeniably. The moment Y/n mentioned "mate," his thoughts returned to the hunting ritual and the decision he would have to make afterward. And his mind landed firmly on Y/n.
Because it was her. It had always been her. Y/n was the one he wanted as his mate, the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, to share every moment with.
Neteyam grew nervous as he imagined Y/n waiting for him in their shared home, arms open, ready to embrace him, kiss him, and care for him just as he would care for her. And he would do it well—he was certain of that.
A small but happy smile flickered across Y/n’s lips upon hearing Neteyam’s response that he hadn’t chosen a mate yet.
“Have you… noticed any, um, approaches?” Y/n asked softly, her voice almost a purr, knowing this was her chance and determined not to let it slip away. Not when Neteyam stirred her heart in ways no one else could. Not when she longed to hear his voice or feel close to him.
Of course, just like Y/n, Neteyam was a target of attention. The difference, however, was that Omaticaya girls weren’t as aggressive in their advances toward him. Getting close to him without at least being friends with his siblings was no easy task. And even then, finding a moment to be near him during his rare free time was nearly impossible. Yet Y/n managed it every time.
If anyone hoped to be courted by Neteyam, they had to make their feelings and intentions clear due to his limited availability and the fact that he wasn’t exactly the most expressive Na’vi. Y/n had tried to make her interest obvious around him, but the boy didn’t seem to notice.
Eywa knows how many courting gifts Y/n had carefully declined, all the while hoping to receive one from a particular Na’vi—the eldest Sully. With the hunting ritual so close, perhaps it was finally time for her to be a bit more forward in showing her interest, though still delicately. She didn’t want Neteyam to think poorly of her—not that he could, even if he tried.
“No, I haven’t noticed,” Neteyam replied truthfully to her question. The fact was, he rarely paid attention to anything outside of his parents’ demands, Lo’ak’s troubles, his siblings’ safety, and, of course, every move Y/n made.
“Well… plenty of girls would love to be courted by you,” Y/n said sweetly, letting out a soft laugh as she leaned ever so slightly toward him, her tail moving lightly along the ground. Neteyam’s ears twitched at her words, his gaze drawn to her once more. His own tail began to shift, unconsciously seeking hers.
But then, the scene from earlier crept into his mind—a boy standing close to Y/n, talking to her, laughing as if there were no tomorrow, clearly thrilled to be near her. The memory made Neteyam’s brows knit slightly together, and he found himself looking away from her.
“Yeah. From what I’ve noticed, many are courting you,” Neteyam said, trying to manage the irritation bubbling up inside him. He’d almost forgotten it, but now it had resurfaced. A new thought struck him, making him feel both nervous and uneasy. “You… have you already chosen a mate?” he asked carefully, bringing his eyes back to her.
“No,” she answered simply.
“No? Why not? You…” He cleared his throat, fidgeting slightly. “You’re an incredible girl. I’ve seen what you do for everyone in the clan. You tend to the injured, help prepare for rituals, assist mothers with their children… you’ve even helped my mother.” Neteyam’s voice grew a little shaky, his ears flicking nervously, his tail moving restlessly behind him. He vividly remembered the day Lo’ak got himself into serious trouble, forcing him, Neytiri, and Jake to go and drag his brother back. In their absence, Y/n had kept Kiri and Tuk company, distracting them with her kindness and warmth.
Y/n smiled, realizing that Neteyam had noticed something about her. The boy steadied himself before speaking again.
“Why haven’t you chosen anyone?” Neteyam asked simply, his voice low, though his eyes stayed fixed on the girl beside him.
“I’m waiting…” Y/n began in the same tone, looking deeply at him. “…for someone to make me an offer.”
Neteyam averted his gaze, assuming Y/n was talking about a specific Omaticaya in the clan. His thoughts spiraled, imagining anyone but himself in her mind—something Y/n was trying to make obvious with her intent gaze and the subtle movements of her tail inching closer to his.
“Well…” Neteyam said, trying to swallow the frustration brewing inside him over whichever lucky Na’vi had managed to catch Y/n’s eyes and heart. Maybe he’d challenge him to a duel if he found out. “It shouldn’t take long,” he said simply, still not looking at her, his earlier sour mood returning.
“It could happen now,” Y/n suggested, tilting her head slightly, attempting to catch Neteyam’s gaze.
“Now?” Neteyam asked, looking around and confirming they were still alone. There wasn’t another Omaticaya in sight that he could aim his fists at.
“Yes, now,” Y/n replied, his attention now fully on her. She fluttered her eyelashes gracefully, hoping he would understand her meaning.
“How ‘now’? It’s just us here,” he muttered, confused, though his heart skipped a beat as he caught her beautiful lashes in motion, momentarily forgetting his impulse to pummel some imaginary rival.
Y/n sighed, realizing she needed to be more direct if she wanted him to understand what she meant.
“Nete…” She swallowed hard, steeling herself for what felt like an immense challenge. She placed her hand gently over his, watching his eyes slowly widen as his ears perked up in surprise. “…I see you,” Y/n confessed intensely, her breath quickening as her heart raced uncontrollably.
Neteyam, on the other hand, was frozen in place. His wide eyes and dilated pupils were locked on the girl in front of him, his body entirely still as he processed her words.
“It’s true that I was waiting for something from you,” the girl began, embarrassed, avoiding his gaze. “But... you don’t have to feel pressured by me. I know you’ll have other great options for a mate.” She let out a small, almost bitter laugh.
The Omaticaya boy snapped out of his stupor, blinking several times in quick succession, his pupils dilating greatly, his heart racing faster than ever before. As soon as Y/n pulled her hand from his, Neteyam quickly but gently grasped it, not wanting to startle her.
“Y/n,” the boy called softly, still surprised by her words. She wanted to be courted by him.
Even though Neteyam was consumed with happiness, staring at her intensely, the words were stuck in his throat. He wanted to say “I see you” like he had imagined so many times, but with his heart pounding and his shock overwhelming him, he could only open his lips several times, struggling to find the right words.
Y/n looked at him shyly, waiting for him to say something, while the boy still held her hand gently, preventing her from going anywhere. He traced her soft skin with his thumb, his gaze still locked on her, hoping she would understand him without words, because he certainly would stutter if he started to confess.
The girl looked down at their hands joined softly, gripping Neteyam’s hand firmly, but soon she lifted her gaze back to him, watching him swallow hard.
“Do you feel the same?” Y/n asked quietly, leaning in slightly, and the only thing Neteyam could do was nod—quickly, almost too fast, which made her smile even wider.
Even with his heart practically on fire, the boy swallowed hard and tightened his grip on the young woman beside him.
“Y/n, I see you,” Neteyam said as if making a promise, though it was whispered, it was intense. It was clear that his chest was rising and falling quickly, with a brief flush of purple creeping up his face, his ears, slowly descending to his neck.
Y/n smiled wider, the same color beginning to tint her cheeks. With her beautiful smile, Neteyam returned a smaller one, still immersed in emotions. His skin was showing his anxiety and mild embarrassment, and his palm was starting to grow warmer than usual.
The boy pulled back slightly from the girl, still looking at her, her eyes locked on him with curiosity. Neteyam began to undo one of his bracelets, tightly fastened to his forearm, and once the accessory was removed, he looked at Y/n with expectation.
The girl let out a happy sound, lifting her left forearm to Neteyam, who, with slightly trembling fingers, began to fasten the bracelet onto her. Now, anyone who saw Y/n wearing the accessory would immediately know that she was promised to Neteyam, as the Omaticaya wore the matching pair on his right forearm.
"In the hunting ritual..." Neteyam began softly as he adjusted the bracelet on Y/n. "I will bring the largest animal I find for the clan. And after that, I will come to you and ask if you would choose me as your mate in front of everyone." He continued, his voice still quiet, a little embarrassed but happy, watching the bracelet settle perfectly on the girl. "This is my first courting gift. But please, don't worry, I will give you more gifts so you can adorn yourself with them until the ritual. And also, after it." The boy smiled at her, making the girl laugh too, filled with happiness.
"And I will make your adornments," Y/n replied, thinking of the accessories she had already made for Neteyam, but never had the courage to gift him. However, from now on, she saw no problem in doing so.
The Omaticaya boy smiled at her, gently bringing their foreheads together, and she responded without hesitation, closing her eyes in delight and happiness. Neteyam turned his gaze back to the landscape in front of them, feeling Y/n settle close to his body, resting her head between his neck and shoulder. He accepted her presence gladly, holding her close as they both silently admired the beautiful, dusk-lit landscape of Pandora, content in their mutual affection.
With Neteyam holding the girl firmly and gently beside him, his tail swayed slightly, finding hers, and they wasted no time in intertwining them, causing both to share small, happy laughs. And behind the couple, Atokirinas—the seeds of the Tree of Life—floated softly, undisturbed, as the young pair embraced in front of Pandora's giant moon.

The Moon ||| neteyam x human!reader
masterlist
epilogue
pairings: neteyam x human!fem!reader
summary: neteyam would give you the moon if he could
words: 8.8k (I’m dead omg)
warnings/notes: friends to lovers, major ANGST (cried while writing this one) bits of fluff, implied sexual themes, lovesick!neteyam, mentions of sickness and medical treatments, death, use of y/n, I am not a medical professional so I lot of this is just my interpretation I’m sorry that it won’t be accurate pls don’t hate me, mentions of mates, spider is your adoptive brother (in this house we love spider 🫶🏻), and of course my corny writing, this is the product of me listening to moon song on a loop not sure how this happened, This is gonna be rough apologies in advance

The first time Neteyam saw you was when he was eight years old. He was used to seeing Spider around, but not you. You were new.
Trembling behind Spider it looked like you were trying to disappear. Barely peeking up over his shoulder to look. Neteyam's tail swished in curiosity as he observed you.
"Guys, this is Y/N." Spider introduced you while pushing you forward. "She's a little shy." He added.
Your big eyes looked up at the Na'vi children who towered over you. "Hi." You whispered with an awkward smile and a small wave. "You're really tall." You giggled.
Neteyam stared at you in awe immediately infatuated with you. You were unlike any sky person he had ever seen.
"You're just really short." Lo'ak snapped back rolling his eyes.
Neteyam noticed your smile falter and shoved his brother. Your smile was beautiful, the prettiest thing the young boy had ever seen. At that moment Neteyam decided you should always be smiling.
Spider explained to the group that you were born here like him. You had never left the lab before. This was the first time you saw the beauty of the forest and the first time you saw a Na'vi in the flesh. You were in awe of everything around you.
Spending the rest of the day playing with the other children you couldn't help but get distracted by your surroundings. The forest was alive it's beauty glowing all around you. You had the urge to explore every last inch of it.
Neteyam kept his eyes locked on you. He was worried that you'd get separated from the rest of them. You were small and delicate, unable to properly protect yourself, so Neteyam decided to protect you.
So that's how it was whenever you played with the Sully children. Neteyam always glued by your side. He couldn't explain it. The way he felt an immediate draw towards you. As if the two of you were meant to find each other.
Neytiri was less than thrilled to have another human child around her kids. One was bad enough. After everything humans had done to their home -to her - she despised them. She even had her doubts about the loyal few who stayed.
What made her even more unsure of you was the way her eldest son never left your side. Ever since Spider introduced you Neteyam was glued to your side. Had it been anyone else Neytiri would have found it endearing. But you were human. You were a demon.
A few years later Neytiri started to notice things about you. The way the forest left you in awe no matter how many times you’d seen it. She'd catch you gasping in excitement over the littlest things. It was as if you could see.
She also noticed the strong bond you had with her children, especially with Neteyam. She knew her son well. Neytiri was well aware of how he felt towards you. She feared the day that he realized his own feelings.
You were sitting in the forest with Neteyam next to you. His mother was across from the two of you. Neytiri was shooting daggers with her eyes at you. The stare made you shift uncomfortably. Neteyam picked up on it placing a gentle hand on your knee.
Neytiri observed how you immediately relaxed. The sweet genuine smiled you gave her son and how he gave you one of his own.
Neytiri had been trying to give Neteyam a lesson on arrow making. He had insisted that you join them since he promised to spend the afternoon with you. Much to her dismay, you were here unintentionally distracting him.
You felt something barely grace your shoulder. Figuring it was Neteyam you didn't pay it much mind. Then another tap on your head. One on your arm. Then your other shoulder.
Looking up, you met Neytiri's eyes. She was staring at you like she had seen a ghost. Starting to feel panicked you looked at your arms. You gasped as your eyes filled with wonder.
Several atokirina' floated around you. They danced up and down gently resting on you. Neteyam had the biggest smile on his face. To him it was confirmation the great mother saw you the way he did.
It was undoubtedly a sign from Eywa herself. Neytiri couldn't believe her eyes. Feeling a sense of déjà vu, she was brought back to the first time she met her mate.
Unable to shake what she had witnessed she went to her mother. After explaining the strange encounter Neytiri waited while Mo’at consulted with Eywa.
“Eywa sees the child.” Mo’at finally spoke. “The Great Mother has declared that she will spend the rest of her life by Neteyam.”
Neytiri couldn’t wrap her mind around it. The concept was so foreign to her. Eywa had accepted you as one of her own. Not only that, it was also her will that you stay by Neteyam. Neytiri would never question the will of Eywa. While she didn’t fully understand it she would have to learn to be okay with it.
From that day on, Neteyam’s mother treated you with a kindness she never had before. You didn’t know what happened for her to finally warm up to you but you were forever grateful she did.
Years went by and it was time for Neteyam to begin training for his iknimaya. You were so excited for him, knowing how important this rite of passage was to the Na'vi. There was a part of you that was downcast as he wouldn't be able to spend time with you every day like he usually does.
Your heart hurt because all you wanted was to be able to experience this with him. For as long as you could remember you wanted to be Na'vi. It was your birthday wish every year though you never told anyone out of embarrassment. That and it wouldn't come true if you told.
You and your brother had begged for avatars for years. Unfortunately the materials and funding needed just wasn’t there. Norm and Max wanted nothing more than to be able to grant your wishes, but it just wasn't a possibility.
"So how long are you going to be gone this time?"
Neteyam sighed. He could hear the disappointment in your voice and it broke his heart. "A month. Maybe two."
You felt like you could burst into tears right then and there. Neteyam was your best friend, not to mention your crush for as long as you could remember. You couldn't imagine not seeing him for that long.
"I'll be back before you know it." Gently he brushed hair out of your face. As much as he loved seeing you in the forest he treasured the moments in your room without your mask. Neteyam loved to see your face without the glass restricting his view.
"Don't forget about me." You playfully pushed him.
He gasped in mock offense. "I could never." He smiled. Before he could stop himself he placed a kiss on your forehead.
Stopping dead in his tracks he pulled back. The pair of you stilled blushes adoring both of your cheeks.
Neteyam tried to burry his feelings for you but it was impossible. He had fallen helplessly in love with his best friend. Not caring that you were human he couldn't deny his feelings. He just wasn't sure how to tell you.
Before you knew it, you were throwing your arms around him as you hugged him goodbye. You went to pull away but he kept you in his embrace for a little longer.
"I'm gonna miss you." He sighed.
"You're going to have so much fun you won't even think about me."
"That's not true you're always on my mind." He blushed.
A blush engulfed your face and you bit your lip. You noticed Neteyam's tail swishing back and forth. Looking up at him he was smiling back at you. His cheeks were slightly tinted.
Standing back with the rest of his family you waved as he joined the other young warriors. "He'll be back before you know it." Spider smiled knowingly at you.
No matter how hard you tried you couldn't keep your crush from your bother. He immediately figured it out. Little did you know most everyone had figured it out. The only ones who hadn't were you and Neteyam.
Neytiri watched you with a smile on her face. As time passed she accepted the idea of you with her son. Finding amusement in the two of you pining after each other.
The time without Neteyam dragged on for what felt like an eternity. Spider did his best to keep you occupied as did the Sully siblings. But your mind never strayed far from the boy your heart beat for.
You were getting ready for bed after a long day. Neteyam was halfway through his training by now. You had been counting down the days to his return.
A knock on your door interrupted your thoughts. Norm stood awkwardly in the doorway. “You have a visitor.” He informed you.
Furrowing your eyebrows you looked at him confused. It was way past the curfew set for the lab. “Who?”
Before he could answer you Lo’ak pushed passed him and entered your room. He look frustrated and exhausted.
“What are you doing here Lo’ak?” You asked afraid that something was wrong.
Without saying a word he removed the communicator from his neck and handed it to you. “This is for you.” Was all he said.
You looked over the tech not understanding why he was giving it to you especially now of all times. “I’ve been trying to sleep for hours. He won’t leave me alone until he speaks with you.”
Your face lit up knowing exactly who he was. Wasting no time you pressed the button. “Neteyam?” You hesitantly asked.
“Oh Eywa how I’ve missed your voice.” Neteyam’s voice rang through the speaker.
“Yeah I’m not staying to listen to this.” Lo’ak deadpanned before leaving.
Neteyam missed you terribly and begged his father to let him speak with you. Jake felt like it would be a distraction so he didn't allow it. So Neteyam came up with the brilliant idea to pester his little brother until he gave it. It worked rather quickly.
You spent the whole night talking to Neteyam. He told you all about his training not sparing a single detail. He was more interested in what you had been up to. He just wanted to hear your voice.
The day Neteyam was to return was finally here. You and Spider sprinted through the forest heading towards the village. By the time you got there he had already returned.
Searching the crowd you finally saw him. Knees weak your breath caught in your throat. Somehow he looked taller. His mussels were more defined, shoulders wider, and his face sharper. He was no longer a boy. He looked like a man.
You had always wanted Neteyam but this was different. In that moment your want for him was something you hadn't experienced before. It almost felt wrong. Almost.
Neteyam searched the crowd for you. Eyes glancing over a figure that was familiar he did a double take. It was you. You looked different.
Neteyam gulped as he took in your new features. Your hips wider and chest fuller you no longer looked like the little kid everyone was so used to. Neteyam noticed your hair was shorter, resting at just below your shoulders now.
You were beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. A gift from Eywa herself. A primal urge came over him, a desire to take you right then and there. You were to be his mate, he felt that you were destined.
"Neteyam!" You squealed running into his arms. He picked you up twirling you in the air like you weighed nothing.
"I missed you Ma'Y/N." He snuggled his face into your neck.
You bit your lip at the pet name. It was usually reserved for mated couples but Neteyam couldn't help but let it slip.
As the weeks passed on the attraction between the two of was stronger than ever. Stolen glances and intentional accidental touches filled your days.
After Neteyam successfully claimed his Ikran earning his spot among the people he would take you for rides.
"I knew you could do it. I'm so proud of you." You looked up at him.
The look you gave him made his heart flutter. A strange satisfaction overcame him knowing that you were proud of him. He wanted you to be proud of him.
That night he walked you back to the lab following you to your room. He desperately needed to speak with you. He had been working up the courage all night.
Neteyam sat next to you on your bed. He loved the moments you shared without your mask in the way. Staring into your eyes without anything in front of them.
"I have earned my place among the people." He said suddenly.
You nodded slowly not sure where he was going with this. "I know I was there." You giggled.
"I may now chose a mate."
Your heart dropped. So this was why he wanted to talk. He was here to tell you that he found someone. He probably wanted you to leave him alone now.
Anxiety flooded your mind as you felt stupid. A part of you actually thought he liked you back. Why would he? You weren’t even the same species. You had nothing to offer him.
“I see.” You gave your best fake smile. “Who’s the lucky girl then?” You had to know.
“You.” Neteyam said without hesitation.
“I’m sorry what?” You asked. There was no way you heard that right.
“You, if you’ll have me.” He looked away shy. He took your confusion as rejection. “I want you to be my mate Y/N.”
“Are you sure?” You asked dumbfounded.
Neteyam cupped your face in his palms. “I see you Y/N.”
Your heart sped up at the phrase you found so beautiful and so terrifying at the same time. He saw you. Every broken piece, every imperfection, all of your good qualities as well as the bad ones, and he still wanted you anyways.
He wanted you despite it all. Neteyam saw you.
“I am human Neteyam.” You said. You needed him to be sure of his choice. Na’vi mate for Life. Of course you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, but you needed to be sure he wouldn’t regret it.
“I know. That changes nothing.”
“I cannot make Tsaheylu.” The bond was the building block of life on Pandora. It was vital to their existence. They bonded with their mates, you would be unable to bond with him in this way.
“I know. But I see you anyways.” He confessed.
“I’ll never be tsahík.”
“None of that matters to me Y/N. Stop trying to give me reasons to not want you. It won’t work.”
Looking down in shame you gave him one last reason. “I can’t give you children Neteyam. You’d be making so many sacrifices just to have me. It’s not an equal trade.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” He smiled. “You are all I want. It’s always been you Y/N. Always. Nothing else matters when you are enough for me.”
Neteyam leaned in as if he was about to kiss you. “You are what I want Y/N.”
“You are what I want too.” You breathed. “I see you Neteyam.
That was all he needed to hear. He crashed his lips onto yours passionately kissing you. Lips moving in sync until you pulled away to catch your breath.
Staring into his golden eyes you removed your shirt leaving your chest bare before him. Neteyam’s eyes widened at your sudden action. He wasn’t expecting anything to happen, he was happy with kissing.
“We don’t have to do anything Ma’Y/N.”
There was that name again. You smiled. “I want to. I want you Neteyam. That is, if you’ll have me.” You batted your eyelashes at him.
His tail twitched in excitement before he tackled you back onto the bed. The two of you spent the night a tangled mess of limbs. “We are mated before Eywa for life.” Neteyam whispered into your ear before you drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
It had been two years since you mated with Neteyam. It had been the best years of your life.
His family was immediately accepting of your relationship. To your surprise so was most of the clan. There were a few that frowned upon your union but Neteyam made sure to put them in their place.
Following Neteyam’s lead you ran through the forest. He made sure to keep looking back for you so the two of you wouldn’t get separated.
“So where are we going again?” You huffed out of breath.
“It’s a surprise.” He smiled back at you.
Neteyam took you to a clearing that had the most beautiful flowers you had ever seen. You were fascinated by the nature of Pandora.
“I wish I could smell them.” You sighed. Always longing to smell the fresh air and to feel the breeze on your face.
Neteyam frowned at your words. He too hated your mask, but it kept you alive. It allowed him to show you his home. To Neteyam it was worth the inconvenience.
“Come on, let’s keep going.” He smiled. “There’s something else I wanna show you.”
Without a second thought you followed him. Starting to feel faint you slowed down. Everything was getting blurry and your head was woozy.
"Neteyam, could you slow down a little?" You panted, pushing your hand against a tree for support. "I'm a little dizzy."
Stopping dead in his tracks he rushed over to you. His mind racing with a million different thoughts. His heart screaming at him to protect you. Not looking good at all your face had gone pale. Your eyes looked exhausted. You looked ill.
"I will take you to my grandmother. You do not look good Ma'Y/N."
"I'm fine Teyam." You attempted a smile to reassure him. The last thing you wanted was to be rushed into the village. The People were used to you, but having the Tsahík tend to a sky demon may be pushing your luck. "Just take me back to the lab please."
Scooping you up he held you close to his chest bridal style. "Neteyam, I could've walked. I'm not broken." You rolled your eyes. Ignoring your protests he continued the trek back to the lab. Something was wrong and you were unwell.
Gently setting you down at the lab entrance he insisted that he come in with you. Neteyam was still slightly unsure of sky people, the lab making him nervous. But this was different. Anxiety consumed him and he couldn't leave without making sure you were okay.
Taking your mask off you then offered Neteyam a mask of his own. He hastily took it eyes never leaving you. The last thing on his mind was a mask for himself. He could breath this air for hours anyways.
Walking the familiar hallways to your room he observed your small steps. Gently panting as if the walk was tiring you out. You insisted you were fine but your body language said otherwise.
Plopping down on your bed you made grabby hands reaching out for him. "Cuddle me." You playfully commanded. Smiling he complied gently laying down next to you, arms instinctively pulling you closer.
Taking a deep breath letting your scent fill his lungs he hummed. Neteyam gently peppered a few kisses to your face before burying his head in your neck.
"Neteyam stop." You giggled. "It tickles." You could feel his smile against your neck. Running your free hand through his braids you sighed in satisfaction. Moments like this made up for all the bad ones.
You felt so safe in his arms, like he could protect you from anything. And he would. He'd burn the whole world if it meant keeping you safe.
"Teyam?" You whispered fingers still playing with his hair. He hummed in response snuggling closer to you. "I love you to the moon and back."
The expression felt odd rolling off your tongue. Checks heated in a blush you were a bit embarrassed. After all, you found it to be incredibly cheesy. But there was a part of you that found the sentiment sweet.
You'd first read it engraved on a tiny silver necklace. It had belonged to your mother. One of the scientists gave it to you once you were older. It was the only thing you had of her. Everything else was left up to your imagination.
For years they tried to allude to the fact that your mother had passed away. It seemed easier to let you believe that than tell you the truth. But even though you were a child you weren't clueless. You knew that your mother had left you here.
Terrified of everything that had happened she went back to earth unable to take you with her. That's how you found yourself being raised by the scientists on Pandora with Spider as your honorary brother.
A small part of you cling to the saying. Wishing it was true, that your mother loved you to the moon and back - to Pandora and back. That one day she'd be back for you.
You knew it would never happen. So instead you say it to Neteyam. Because you truly meant it. You would go to the moon and back for him. And you would be back. You'd always come back for him.
Neteyam's ears perked up at your words. It wasn't the first time you had told him you loved him but you had never said it like this. He didn't entirely understand it but he appreciated your words just the same.
Smiling at you like you were the most precious thing he ever laid his eyes on. "I will give you the moon my love."
Laughing you pulled him closer. "You can't give someone the moon Neteyam."
But he would for you. You were his moon, his stars, and everything in between. Whatever you asked for he would deliver. "If I could give you the moon, I would give you the moon." He confirmed.
"You're a dork." You giggled.
"So are you then. You started it." He playfully fired back. Neteyam's mind turned somber for a moment. "Are you feeling better?"
You nodded cuddling more into your mattress to get comfy. "Much better. I think I need more cuddles to be one hundred percent though."
Smiling, Neteyam snuggled into you. "I'm more than happy to assist."
As the weeks went by you continued to feel strange. It didn’t seem like a big deal to you, so you didn’t want to bring it up. After all, you were human. Getting sick was a part of every day life.
No one noticed how you were acting strange. Except Neteyam of course. He picked up on the way you always seemed tired. The way your eyes looked a bit dull as they stared off into space. No matter how hard you tried to hide it, he saw it all.
You were now having trouble keeping your meals down. Stomach always feeling like it was in knots you didn’t know what was wrong. No one had caught you throwing up yet, but they did start to notice how you were losing weight without trying.
Norm awkwardly tried to broach the subject as always trying to be the father you never had. He was afraid you were doing something self inflicted and wanted to support you in any way he could.
It took awhile but you were able to convince him it wasn't what he thought. You honestly didn't know what was wrong, you just one day started feeling sick.
Norm being the man of science that he was immediately wanted to start tests to get to the bottom of what was wrong. Somehow you managed to get him to hold off for awhile. The idea of going through a bunch of tests scared you.
You didn’t get out of it for very long. Neteyam was worried sick about you and insisted you do whatever was needed to get better. Reluctantly you agreed spending the next several days undergoing tests and blood work.
Neteyam even took you to his grandmother for her guidance. She wasn’t able to pinpoint what was wrong. Whatever you had was a human sickness, unknown to the Na’vi.
Jake took a special interest in what was wrong. He was once a human himself. He was well aware of everything that could go wrong with the human body. Plus he deeply cared for his daughter in law. Jake consulted with Norm regularly regarding his findings.
The Olo'eyktan thought it’d be best if he was one of the first to find out. That way he would be able to explain it to his family better. He was by no means a doctor but he knew his son would trust his words more than Norm’s.
He could see the way Neteyam looked like his was close to having a melt down. He had a forced calmness about him. As if he was in complete denial that something might be wrong. Because he was. If he refused to acknowledge it, it wouldn’t be real.
"Leukemia." Norm spoke like that one simple word explained everything. Jake's breath caught in his throat at the word. Neteyam stood head moving back and forth between the two of them, waiting for an explanation.
His heart hammered in his chest as they spoke words that meant nothing to him. Human words he didn't know. "How long?" His father asked quietly.
"It's progressed rather quickly. She had been exhibiting symptoms for a few months now. It's hard to say how long she's had it."
Neteyam knew they were talking about you. Dread filled him and he felt sick to his stomach. The feeling of being left in the dark was too much for him, he felt like he could scream.
"How long does she have?" Jake asked again eyes screwed onto Norm. He spoke hushed this time. Jake wasn't a fool. He was well aware of his son's feelings towards you. In fact, the whole clan knew.
How long does she have? The words echoed in Neteyam's brain. Repeating over and over again. They couldn't be talking about your life could they? You were just a little sick, you had said so yourself. This couldn't be real he refused to believe it.
"I've estimated three years." Max spoke up. "She has a thirty percent chance."
Thirty. That was low wasn't it? There was no possible way you'd have such a low chance. The science geeks were the best of the best. You'd also have access to the remedies of the Na'vi. Most importantly you'd have Neteyam. He made a vow to take care of and protect you. He indented to keep that vow.
"What are her opinions? What can we do?" Jake needed all the information he could get if he was going to have to explain this to his son.
"Chemo would be the next step. It's going to be hard, she's already so weak. It's going to take a lot out of her."
Jake glanced over at his son. Neteyam looked like he was on the verge of a panic attack. Hell, he was on the verge of a panic attack. His eyes were wide as he stared at his father, pleading for an answer.
Jake sighed, "Would she have a better chance back on Earth? Can we even give her proper care here?"
Earth? You couldn't go to earth. Neteyam refused to allow it. If you left he'd never see you again. He wouldn't be able to care for you while you're sick. He also wouldn't know how you were doing - he wouldn't know if you were still breathing or not.
His mouth hung open as his brain tried to register this. "She can't go to earth dad." He said just above a whisper. "She can't go!" He said again this time yelling desperately at his father.
"Calm down boy." Jake hushed him placing a hand on his shoulder. "Let them speak."
"She's not going anywhere." Norm said trying to choose his words carefully. "Her immune system is weak right now. I don't think she would survive the trip. I think it's best to treat her here with what we have available."
Tears stung Neteyam's eyes as he stared at the ground. You were so sick you wouldn't survive the trip to earth. Would you even survive here? He came to the horrific realization that you were sick and you might be dying.
"She's strong though." Jake said more so to his son. "She can fight this."
Max and Norm looked at each other with sad smiles. Neither doubted your strength, you were one of the strongest people they knew. But this was different. They had to entertain the possibility that even if you fight with your all you could lose. They also knew that they didn't have everything needed to properly treat you. But for the sake of the broken boy in front of them they left that part out.
Staying positive was hard but you gave it your best try. You felt weak but it wasn’t insufferable yet. The worst part of it was you couldn’t go out exploring like you were accustomed to.
Your friends made sure to keep you company. Your room become the unofficial official hangout spot. Lo’ak and Spider would play games with you, Kiri kept you up to date on all of the gossip in the village, Tuk insisted that the two of you color, and Neteyam? Neteyam never left your side.
He was there not long after your woke up and often times he stayed the night. Neteyam never wanted to leave your side, wanting to make sure you were cared for in any way possible. He would be there every step of the way.
When it was time for chemo you felt extremely anxious. As Norm prepared the IV Neteyam eyed the needle untrustworthily. You winced as it went into your arm. Neteyam hissed ready to throw Norm across the room for causing you pain.
Norm panicked and you quickly explained to Neteyam that it was okay. It only hurt for a few minutes. You had to deal with it. You needed the treatment to get better.
Neteyam cuddled up next to you holding your hand. He tried to do things to distract you from it. The pair of you would watch movies from back on earth. You taught him how to play uno. He could never beat you and it frustrated him to no end. He was close to throwing his cards in anger. Seeing him be such a sore looser made you laugh.
Neteyam loved your laugh. He didn’t hear it much anymore so it was his life’s mission to make you laugh as much as he could.
He believed you’d make a full recovery. This was simply a bump in the road.
"Please don't let him in." You pleaded with Spider. "I don't want him to see me like this." Tears were stinging your eyes now.
Spider looked sympathetically at you. You tried so hard to be strong for everyone but it was wearing down on you. This was effecting you worse than you thought it would. All you wanted to sulk in your room by yourself.
"He's freaking out Y/N. I'm afraid he's gonna start breaking stuff." He chuckled. Gently placing his hand on your shoulder his concerned look returned. "He cares about you. A lot. He just wants to make sure you're okay."
Nodding your head you wiped your face with your hands. You didn't want him to see that you had been crying. "Okay. Let him in."
Spider went off to find Neteyam it didn't take him too long thanks to the commotion he was causing. "You cannot keep me here!" Neteyam bellowed.
He tried to moved around the crowd of scientists who were attempting to keep him back. Neteyam growled in frustration. "Y/N is my mate you cannot keep me from her."
"Bro, calm down!" Spider yelled as Neteyam went to throw something off of a desk. He stopped as soon as he heard Spider. Neteyam's shoulders relaxed slightly at the familiar face.
"They are trying to keep me away." He snapped.
"Yeah I can see that." Spider huffed. "If you're done with your temper tantrum Y/N is ready to see you."
Raising his head high Neteyam walked past the scientists smugly. When out of earshot he bent down to Spider "They said Y/N did not want to see me." His face etched with worry.
Sighing Spider ran his hand over his face. "She's upset right now. It's not my place to say. She needs to be the one to tell you. But she's upset and embarrassed right now. She didn't want you to see her like that."
Neteyam's heart clenched at his words. The thought of you being so upset that you didn't want to see him crushed him. Walking into your room he was preparing for the worst.
You were sitting in your bed with your hands folded in your lap. Staring down you were avoiding his gaze.
He looked you up and down to see if their was any visible signs of what was wrong. If there was a problem Neteyam wanted to attack it head on. Your sickness wasn't like that though. He had to sit and watch helplessly as you suffered. It consumed him to the point he lived in constant agony.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Except your eyes were red and puffy like you had been crying. You were crying. Why were you crying? Neteyam's protective side took the forefront once again, ready to crush whatever had upset you.
Rushing to your side he cupped your cheek with his hand. "Ma'love what's wrong?" Worried etched on his face.
"You can have these back. I don't need them anymore." You sniffed. Your closed hands reached out to his. Opening your hands you gently poured the contents into his.
Neteyam stilled as his beads spilled into his hands. They were the beads he had given to you. He loved seeing you proudly wearing them in your hair, letting everyone see you were his.
"You don't want them anymore?" He softly asked. It felt like a punch to the gut. It was as if you were rejecting him.
"I won't be able to wear them anymore Neteyam." Meeting his gaze your heart broke seeing his face. He didn't understand why you were returning his gift to you.
"My hair is falling out Neteyam." You sighed.
"I do not understand." His brow furrowed trying to put the pieces together.
"The chemo- the medicine makes my hair fall out." You tried to explain.
Spider walked over and put his hand on your shoulder for support. He viewed you as his little sister. It hurt him to see you suffering like this.
Neteyam didn't understand how this medicine was helping you if it was making it so hard on you. Human medicine was more complicated than the Na'vi remedies he was used to.
You knew that he was genuinely curious and just trying to understand but you were tired if talking about it. You knew you would eventually lose your hair but you thought you could handle it.
Everything was too much. You hadn't really felt sick until now. When you noticed your hair coming out in clumps it all became real. You were sick.
Spider found you in a fit of sobs. It broke his heart to see you like that. It also sent him into a panic. He didn't know what to do to make you feel better. He was your big brother, he was supposed to know everything.
"Norm gave me this." Sighing you pulled out hair clippers. "He said it might be easier to just go ahead and shave my head." Tears stung your eyes again. "I just don't know if I can."
Without thinking Spider took the clippers from you. "I'll go first." He declared.
Eyes widening in panic you tried to stop him. "Wait Spider! You don't have to do that." Before you could get another word out he turned them on and quickly swiped along the top of his head.
You and Neteyam stared at him with wide eyes. Dumbfounded you couldn't believe your brother just did that. He did it for you. You couldn't help the small smile that formed. Knowing that your brother loved you that much made your heart swell.
"Are you guys just gonna stare at me or are you gonna help me finish this up?" Spider asked with a smirk.
Once finished Spider was almost unrecognizable. "I can't believe you did that." You mumble as he helped you with your hair.
"It's not a big deal." He shrugged. "It was weighing me down anyways. I'll be faster now."
You rolled your eyes at your brother's odd logic. Neteyam was holding onto your hand watching Spider like a hawk. The idea of taking a blade to your head terrified him even though you assured him it was safe.
Gently you squeezed his hand. “I’m okay.” You assured him. He nodded bringing your hand up to his lips, tenderly kissing your knuckles. “I love you.” His whispered lips still pressed to your fingers.
Usually you stuck to the Na’vi terms of affection. It was what Neteyam was comfortable with. But after learning what the human phrase meant he had to use it. Because it was true. He loved you with every fiber of his being.
Tugging his hand to your lips you gave his knuckles a matching kiss. “I love you too. So so much.”
“Come on guys knock it off.” Spider complained pretending to be sick. As much as your constant shows of affection annoyed him he was glad you found someone who truly loved you.
The next day Neteyam came to visit you with his hands behind his back. You eyed him suspiciously, he was never good at keeping secrets from you.
“I made this for you last night.” He gently placed a bracelet in your lap. You gasped when you realized it was made of the beads he had originally given you for your hair.
“You said you couldn’t wear them anymore and now that’s not true.”
Carefully you put the bracelet on. Heart bursting at the sweet gesture tears began to spill from your eyes. Neteyam started to panic thinking be did something wrong.
“You are not happy with it?” He asked defeated. “You are crying.”
“Yes but they’re happy tears. I love it Neteyam. I love you.” You threw your arms around his neck. Smiling he pulled you closer into his chest.
“Oel ngati kameie.” He whispered into your neck.
“I see you Ma’Teyam.”
"I'm dying Neteyam." You said without any hesitation or emotion.
Neteyam immediately sat up looking to you slightly begging that he heard you wrong. It couldn't be true. It couldn't be.
"No one's told you because they're afraid of how you'll react. I don't want to keep anything from you. Love you too much to do that." Your eyes met his through your mask. He felt his heart breaking not only from your words but your eyes. They were faded, lacking the light he loved so much.
"They didn't want to tell me either." Your hoarse voice kept on. "But it's hard to pull a fast one over on me when I'm like this." Chuckling at yourself Neteyam caught a glimpse of you. The real you. Not this pitiful shell of who you once were.
"The treatment stopped working months ago. They told me last week."
Bringing your hand to his mouth he gently kissed your knuckles. "Please do not say such things." His voice cracked. Tears were now freely flowing from his eyes.
Deep down in his heart he knew he was losing you. He just didn't want to believe it. He couldn't believe it. Acknowledging it made it feel real and there was no way this was real. It had to be a cruel nightmare.
"I'm tired Neteyam." You spoke quietly.
Unsure of what you meant he was ready to scoop you up and tuck you into bed. Somehow you had convinced him to go star gazing tonight. It had seemed like the perfect date night idea since you were always cooped up in your room. But now he kicked himself for allowing you to leave.
"Let's get you back then," he started shuffling."
"No Neteyam." You interrupted him stopping him in his tracks. "I'm tired of this." You gestured to yourself. "I'm tired of treatments that aren't working. Tired of being stuck in my room all day. Im tired of it all." You sighed.
"This isn't living Neteyam. It's waiting to die." Meeting his eyes your heart sank. He was finally registering your words. Neteyam looked at you like you had just pierced his heart with an arrow. "I'm tired of waiting."
You had been battling this for over a year now. It had taken its toll on you physically and emotionally. You didn’t know how much longer you could go on like this.
"What are you saying Y/N?" He asked trying his best to stay calm but miserably failing. His hands were shaking and his heart quickened.
"I asked Norm and Max about how I could speed it up."
Neteyam heard his heart shatter into a million pieces. You wanted to end your life. You wanted to leave him. You couldn't possibly want to leave him could you?
Tears were freely falling from his eyes. His body started to shake fighting off sobs.
"I'm not getting any better Neteyam." You gently placed your hand on his cheek wiping away his tears with your thumb.
This wasn't what you wanted but you saw no other way. Everyday was a struggle, even breathing hurt. You wanted Neteyam to see what you already accepted. This was a waiting game. You were never going to recover.
"No." He violently shook his head holding you to his chest. "No. You'll get better. We just need to try something else. Please." He begged.
"Ma'Teyam there's nothing left to try."
"Please. You can't leave me." His body shook with sobs. "I can't lose you Ma'Y/N."
You couldn't fight back your own tears. Your mask was fogging as you started to cry. Seeing your mate like this was as painful as your sickness.
"You're not gonna lose me love. Nothing is ever lost, remember?" You tried your best to comfort him.
"There has to be something we can try." He sobbed. "What about an avatar?"
You held his head in your chest while he cried. "They can't make anymore avatars. You know that."
"I can't do this without you. There has to be something." Neteyam wailed.
The sight broke your heart. You had exhausted all of your options. Everyone but Neteyam seemed to recognize it.
"I won't do anything without your blessing Ma'Teyam." You gently caressed his head. "But please try to understand my point of view."
"You cannot ask this of me. I can't." He shook his head.
Gently rocking you soothed the boy in your arms. He had a vice like grip on you as if you'd vanish into thin air. "It'll okay Ma'Teyam." You cooed.
You had informed Norm and Max of your plan. It broke their heart but they acknowledged that it was your decision. They would respect your wishes.
Norm found himself in your room in the middle of the night watching you sleep. It pained him to see your labored breaths. You were always so fill of light and now you looked like a hollow shell.
He'd known you your whole life. It broke his heart to know that your time was running out. It seemed like just yesterday you were a bubbly toddler getting into trouble in the lab.
You told Jake and Neytiri next. For some reason you were terrified of what your in laws would think of you. While this was something common amongst humans it was very rare to the Na'vi.
Jake was once human though. It hurt his heart to see that it came to this but he understood. While his disability wasn't terminal he knew the feeling of hopelessness. The feeling of being trapped inside what once was you. Your body becoming a prison. Jake knew better than anyone.
Neytiri didn't understand why you wished this until she saw you. She couldn't contain her gasp. No longer the child she has grown to care for, you were someone she didn’t recognize.
Smiling weakly at her Neytiri’s heart broke for you. She could see that you were dying but she couldn’t understand why. It was the great mother’s will that you would stay with Neteyam. Why would she allow you to die so soon?
Then it hit her. The words of her mother. You would spend the rest of your life beside Neteyam. Your life would end before his. Seeing you like this made her realize why you wanted this. You weren’t yourself, you were tapped inside a body that was failing you.
Spider was unusually quiet when you told him. “Spider please say something.” You pleaded.
He knew it was coming. He’d be a fool not to. But he was like everyone else who loved you, he didn’t want to believe it was happening. All of his earliest memories included you. You may have only been siblings because of circumstance but he loved you like you were blood.
You were undoubtedly his sister. Always there for him for as long as he could remember. Someone who always had his back. You understood the feeling of being abandoned here and the longing of wanting more. You were his person. And now you weren’t going to be here anymore.
Spider stood up and hugged you. He was slightly crying into your shoulder. You had never seen your big brother cry. He was your rock always strong and dependable.
“I’m sorry Spider.” You cried with him.
“Hey,” he pulled back to look at you. “Don’t ever be sorry. None of this is your fault.”
Nodding through your tears you took in the sight of him. His hair was growing back so fast leaving him with a nice short cut.
“You know I love you right?” He asked unsure for a moment. He had to make sure you knew. Spider wouldn’t be able to live with himself If you didn’t.
“Of course. I love you too bro.”
The two of you spent the rest of the day talking about everything and nothing all at once. It would be one of the last times you got to.
When it came to telling Neteyam he already knew. Your confirmation was like stones in his heart. But he knew. Deep down he always knew. You were never getting better.
Being cooped up in your room wasn't much of a life. You were in pain and it pained him to witness it. Neteyam never wished to part from you but this wasn't his choice to make.
He knew that had there been any other way you wouldn't had made the choice either.
You wanted one last day. One last good day.
Looking at your room one last time you shut the door. You had breakfast with Norm and Spider just like you always did growing up. Max even joined you.
No one talked about what was to come. You forbid any talk of the future only wanted to live in the here and now.
Spider helped you put on your mask and the two of you slowly made your way to the village. He helped you into the Sully home. You were terrified of everyone being somber, but to your delight everyone acted as normal.
You hadn’t laughed this much in months watching Spider reenact a story of one of the many times Lo’ak almost got himself killed.
Laughter, hugs, and smiles was how you spent your time with the Sully’s. It was perfect just like it always was. Neteyam kept you sat on his lap not wanting to lose contact for a second.
Taking a deep breath he inhaled your scent. It had changed when you got sick. It didn’t smell like you. It made him frown.
Insisting on going on an Ikran ride you drug Neteyam out of his family’s tent. Neytiri stopped you before you got too far. Embracing you one last time. “Thank you for watching over him my child.” Before you could say a word she kissed your forehead and left you with watery eyes.
Neteyam didn’t want to focus on sadness right now. You were still here that’s all that mattered. Taking your hand once again you were greeted with his Ikran.
“You sure you feel up to this?” He checked in.
“Hell yeah.” You smirked at him.
Flying through air was a feeling you’d never get used to. Up there you were truly free. Sticking your arms out to intensify the feeling Neteyam cursed at your sudden movement. His grip tightening around you.
“Let me know before you do something like that.” He scolded.
“You worry too much!” You yelled over the wind. “You’ve taken me on a million rides and haven’t dropped me yet.”
Neteyam smiled at you. Today you were glowing with a glimpse of yourself. Not the person who had been while sick. The real you. It made his heart clench. It pained him but he knew you were right. This was the right choice.
He would rather see you like this than just slowly waste away to nothing. I wanna go out with a bang. You had told him.
Eclipse crept up on the couple as you laid on the ground tangled up in each other. "I love you so much." You told him tears threatening to spill. He kissed your knuckles. "I love you to the moon and back." He whispered.
Smiling fondly at the memory from what felt like an entirety ago. "I can't believe you remember that." You laughed.
He chuckled. Neteyam had spent years committing every part of you to memory. He found your surprise amusing. Of course he’d remember. He remembered it all.
You stayed in his embrace until you couldn't keep your eyes open any longer. "I'm ready Neteyam." You breathed.
He nodded blinking back tears. "I see you Ma'Y/N." He gently caressed your face the best he could.
"I see you Ma'Teyam." You grabbed his hand. "Don't worry I'll see you again. Take your time my love."
"Anything for you my moon." He smiled.
As gently as he could he removed your mask. Taking a deep breath in you smiled as you inhaled the scents of the forest. It smelt even better than you imagined.
Neteyam laid next to you holding your hand looking up to the sky. You admired the stars before glancing over at Neteyam. He met your eyes and smiled. Your breathes were started to become labored. "It's okay love. You can rest now." He said fighting back a sob.
Your vision was turning black around the edges. Neteyam was talking to you but you couldn’t register what he was saying. Slowly your eyes closed. Your chest stopped. Just like that you were gone.
This was exactly how you asked. Neteyam fulfilled every last one of your wishes even if it killed him inside. Your whole life you wanted nothing more than to experience Pandora without any restrictions. And in that brief moment you did.
Neteyam held onto your lifeless body as he sobbed. He knew it was happening but nothing would prepare him for the feeling of you actually being gone.
His love. His mate. His best friend. His moon and stars. Gone forever. You were gone and there was nothing he could do to bring you back.
His body shook as he wailed. Neteyam realized that because you were human you were never connected to the spirit tree. He would never be able to see you again. He would never see you again.
Neteyam spent the whole night grieving you. He knew it was just the beginning of many sleepless nights crying for you.
In the morning he carried you back to home tree. Neteyam insisted that you have a traditional Na’vi burial. It didn’t take much convincing as everyone adored you.
His family helped prepare your body. He begged for help not thinking he was strong enough to do it on his own. Once everything was finished they gave him a moment alone. Spider looked up at him with red puffy eyes giving him a pat on the back.
Neteyam spent his last moment with you whispering sweet nothings that you would never hear. Confessions of love that wouldn’t reach your ears.
The last time Neteyam saw you, you were lowered into the ground. He tried to stay collected not wanting his people to see him weak. But this was unbearable.
After the funeral his grandmother approached him. Pulling him in for a rare hug she caressed his head Lovingly. “She is with Eywa now.” She told him.
He looked up at her in shock. You were a human. Neteyam didn’t think it was possible for a sky person to be with Eywa.
“She is?” He asked breathless.
Mo’at simply nodded before leaving him. Neteyam took a moment to process this revelation. A gentle breeze blew through his hair. Taking a deep breath he tried to ground himself.
A delicate tap on his shoulder caused him to open his eyes. A single atokirina' had landed on him. It gently swayed around him. He cupped the spirit his hands smiling, tears streaming down his cheeks.
You were still here. There is no death. Only change.

He Will Never Be Lost

Neytiri entered her family’s marui, to see Jake sitting crosslegged on the floor with his head in his hands. He appeared to not even notice her footsteps approaching, which was unlike his usually alert demeanor. This concerned her a bit; it was the first time she had seen him like this in a while. He always busied himself with tasks, never just alone with himself.
“Ma Jake?” she called softly to him from the entryway, so that she wouldn’t startle him.
He raised his head promptly, looking up at her and then forcing a small smile. “You’re back.”
“Yes, there wasn’t much to do after all.”
“Where are the kids?” He inquired.
“With Ronal and Tonowari’s children. I think I’ll let them stay out for a bit longer.” It was nighttime and everyone had eaten dinner, but Neytiri had to meet with the Tsahik briefly. So, she decided to take the kids out for a walk. Jake had stayed behind, and she didn’t question it at the time.
“Uh how is Lo’ak doing? I haven’t gotten the chance to… ya know…” he told her with an indistinguishable look on his face.
“Well he seemed alright tonight, he was talking with everyone. But I know that he is not alright on the inside. You should talk to him. I think he really needs to hear from you.”
“I know… I will. I just… need some time.” Jake returned his head to his hands and Neytiri made her way over to him. She placed a hand gently on the top of his head, causing him to raise it and look up at her. When he did this, she moved her hand down to caress his cheek and he leaned into her warmth, only wanting more of her.
She traced the length of his face with her fingertips and landed on his chin, lifting it upwards to examine his face. It was covered in scars from the recent battle, bruised and battered. His beautiful blue skin now a deep shade of purple in some places. Dark circles had formed under his eyes and kept him looking as tired as he probably felt. The Sully’s were hurting.
“Let me dress your wounds again, I want them to heal nicely,” she told him.
And this time when he smiled at her, it looked genuine. “Okay, my love.”
Neytiri left his side to prepare her medicines and herbs. He watched her as she worked and made her way back over to him with a few bowls and bottles. Jake adjusted his sitting position so that she could sit in between his legs comfortably. His hands moved to rest in the small of her back, where he held her in place. His eyes were locked on her the whole time, mesmerized by how focused she became and how beautiful she looked.
She worked in silence, covering every scar with the serums she made. It stung a bit at first, but Jake was used to it and barely reacted. A few moments later, the stinging turned to relief and the pain he felt in his face dissipated.
“Now, how does that feel?” She asked him, already knowing the answer.
“Better. Thank you,” he told her before leaning in and placing a kiss on her lips that lingered for a while. Afterwards, she got up to put all of her supplies away and turned back towards him.
“Will you lay down with me for a little bit?” She asked with an outstretched hand.
Jake nodded and took the hand she offered to him, leading him towards their shared sleeping mat. They assumed their usual position, with one of Jake’s arms around her and her head on his chest. She liked to listen to his heartbeat and sync up her breathing with his. It made her feel more connected to him.
When Jake felt her touch, it instantly calmed and comforted him. He closed his eyes and placed his lips to her head, taking in her scent that he loved so much. The grief was of course always there, some days better than others. But today was one of the more difficult days for him. And Neytiri could sense that.
“Jake,” she spoke.
“Hm?” He replied without opening his eyes.
“You’ve worked so hard.”
He opened his eyes at these words, and she continued.
“I know it was difficult, but you defeated that demon. You protected us with everything that you have.”
Tears began to well in Jake’s eyes and he didn’t know why. Was this what he needed to hear? There were so many thoughts going through his head all at once, but these simple words his wife spoke were bringing him to tears.
“It’s okay. You can rest now, you can let it all go,” she assured him.
“I… I can’t.” He struggled to say. And she raised her head to look at him now, started to see that he was now crying. She reached up to wipe his tears and waited for him to continue. “I feel so empty, Neytiri. Like someone carved out a piece of me and left a big hole.” He placed his palm on his heart and then balled it into a fist. She rested her hand on top on his.
There was a lump in her throat, making the words even more difficult to get out. “I miss him too… our baby.” Tears were now forming in her eyes as well, and her voice trembled as she spoke.
“How the hell are we supposed to do this?”
Neytiri knew loss more than most, and Jake knew it too. But nothing could prepare them for what they would feel from losing their child. “I don’t know. But we feel everything and we do it as a family…together.”
This broke him. Every wall he put up had come crashing down. How could she still be this strong, in the face of so much pain. His tears were overflowing, overwhelmed at the words he didn’t know he needed to hear until now. He used his free hand to cover his eyes, his other arm still around Neytiri. She removed it from around her, sat up, and motioned for him to lay his head on her lap. He obeyed, and he felt her hands through his hair.
Jake cried viscerally for quite some time, to make up for all the days he did not allow himself to. When his cries subsided, she spoke first. Her hand was still caressing his head.
“When Neteyam had taken his final breath… I just wanted to stay there with him. I didn’t want to think of anything else or anyone else… just him. But you put everything aside and got me focused on saving Kiri and Tuk. We could have lost them too, but we didn’t. Because you were my strength in that moment. But you don’t have to be strong right now, okay?”
He nodded and pulled her into a tight embrace. He loved her so much. He noticed that she took her braids out, and her dark hair cascaded down her back. He played with the ends of her hair, held her there and then was brought back to a memory that he doesn’t like to relive. “Neytiri, I have to tell you something,” he said quietly into her shoulder.
“Hm?”
“When I was trapped in the ship… after I killed Quaritch…Lo’ak found me. And for a split second, I thought he was Neteyam.”
Neytiri’s lip began to quiver, anticipating what Jake would say. He continued.
“I don’t know if I thought I was dead… or if I thought this was all just some long nightmare, and that he was still alive… I’m not sure now. But Lo’ak tried to convince me to keep going and I told him to just go without me. I told him to just save himself.”
She released him now and looked at him. “I never knew that,” she said while processing the information.
“I didn’t tell you because I was ashamed. Baby, I was ready to die there. I thought I was gunna die there. I was just so tired from fighting, and I told him that he could make it out of the ship if he left me. It was weighing on my chest and I wanted to tell you. I’m so sorry.”
“Shhh, it’s okay,” she assured him while hugging him again and rubbing his back.
“It’s not okay. For a second, I stopped trying to make it back to you. For a second, I thought that I would be with him again.”
“You fought for so long, you were probably so tired. And to have to keep fighting after we held our son while he was dying… of course you had a moment like this. I didn’t think I was going to make it out alive with Tuk either, until Kiri came for us. All that matters is that you came back to us anyway… and we have our children to thank for that.”
“I’m never going to give up like that ever again. I’m always going to get back to you and the kids.”
“I know you will.”
“I should’ve never brought us here. I should have listened to you. Running was not the answer, I should know that by now. How could I have been so foolish?”
“You did what you believed was the right choice, to keep us safe.”
“And in the end… I couldn’t keep him safe. I wonder if he would still be-
“Please don’t think that way,” she cut him off before he could finish the sentence. “We don’t know what would have happened if we stayed at home.”
Jake listened to her and knew she was right. He tried to take her words in, but he was consumed by all the thoughts that were plaguing his mind. Everything came out now. Neytiri just kept rubbing circles on his back and listening.
“I think I put too much pressure on him because he was the oldest. I gave him too much responsibility to look after his siblings. But he was fucking 15. And instead of letting him enjoy his childhood, I made him grow up so fast. He probably thought going back to save them was his responsibility, but it wasn’t. It was ours.”
She released him, wanting to look him in the eyes while she told him this. She cupped his face with one hand, and stroked his cheek with her thumb.
“No matter what, our kids are going to look after one another. Because we taught them that Sully’s stick together. Their parents are warriors. We could have raised them differently and they would still want to be like us. Despite everything, it’s who they are. They stand up for what they believe in and fight. Deep down you know that, Jake.”
He put his hand over hers on his face. “I do know that.”
“So don’t blame yourself. Living in this war… it’s always going to be dangerous for them. We tried to shield them from it as best as we could, and we’ll keep trying. That’s all we can do.”
“You’re right. I know you are.”
She gave him a loving smile and he took the time to look at his wife. She was just as tired as he was and here she was… comforting him when she was also hurting. Sleep was scarce for everyone these days, but he wanted her to get as much as she could, even if it was just an hour.
“Let me brush your hair? It’ll relax you, maybe help you sleep better tonight.”
“Okay, my husband.”
He got up to grab her comb and then she kneeled in front of him. He brought all her hair to the back, first running his fingers through the strands just in case there were knots. His touch instantly relaxed her and she let her eyelids close. He passed the comb through each section of her hair slowly; and she felt tingling sensations throughout her scalp which then travelled down her back.
“He was so beautiful, Neytiri,” Jake said softly.
“He was.”
“Because of you. He had your smile and your eyes, and your heart.”
She smiled at the thought of this with her eyes still closed, and her heart was warmed. Now she imagined her first born’s face and the memory of his laughter filled her mind. She imagined her father and sister meeting him in the afterlife, watching over him. It was thoughts like these that comforted her.
Jake moved her hair to the side now, exposing her neck. He placed soft kisses along its length, from her earlobe and all the way down to her shoulder. It gave her goosebumps in the best way possible. She turned her head towards him and before she knew it, his lips were on hers. It was gentle, but passionate and loving.
Once he combed through her hair several times, he held her from behind and let her rest on him. She was quiet for a while and all he could hear was the ocean waves against the shore and her breathing, which was slowing down now. She was finally falling asleep. When he was sure, he secured her head in the crook of his neck and lifted her up to take her to bed. She of course woke up from all the movement.
“Oh… did I fall asleep? I’m sorry.”
Jake chuckled at this, it was just like her to apologize for doing something she was supposed to do. He placed her down and covered her with a woven blanket. “You sleeping was the whole point.”
“The kids…I forgot.”
“I’ll go get em, just close your eyes. We’ll be back soon.”
“Let’s go see him tomorrow? Together.”
Jake nodded. “It’s been a while since he saw us both I think.”
“I love you.”
“I love you more,” Jake told her before placing another kiss on her forehead.
She watched him as he walked out of their home to retrieve their children. And then she let her eyes close, eventually falling asleep and dreaming of Neteyam’s smile. And she was reminded that he was with the great Mother, and would never be lost.

taken in by the sullys (3) / sully family x human!daughter/sister!reader
synopsis, fifteen years fly by and your family just keeps growing as you fight the stigma of being the clan leaders' human child... aka moments between you and your infant/toddler siblings
(1) / (2) / (3 - ur here! ☆) / (4*)
+ chapters with an * beside it means that it’s following atwow plot line as opposed to disconnected scenarios
+ takes place just before atwow! this is a much longer chapter T-T
neteyam
moments before he was to connect with eywa, you sat quietly next to him as jake and neytiri bustled around to prepare for the ceremony
you leaned over the side of his cradle, poking his blue skin. he squirmed before focusing his eyes on you. you could tell he was intrigued — you were different than all the faces he'd seen today.
you lowered your voice, whispering to conceal your conversation from jake and neytiri.
"hey." you nodded to him. "i'm y/n. i'm your big sister. well, not real big sister, but still." you shrugged.
you stepped onto the side of the wooden frame, getting some height over where he lay. "you're pretty big for a baby, you know. you're as big as me already. but that doesn't mean you don't have to listen to me, you know." you wagged a finger in his face.
he tilted his head, and you weren't sure if he was getting any of what you were saying. you continued anyway.
"mom says i'm better than the other na'vi kids my age. i can already hunt and fight. she says i have an unnatural gift." you whispered.
"but..." you sighed, stroking his head softly. "i guess i can teach you, too. and it's okay if you suck. i'll be there to protect you."
neytiri and jake exchanged endeared looks, their backs turned to you and the newborn to give you the privacy you thought you had.
if there was one thing you had to let go of quickly, it was your pride
the clan practically worshipped little neteyam — firstborn son of the fierce neytiri and legendary jake sully? they celebrated for weeks
though young, you were still aware you were different, that you didn't exactly belong among the na'vi... but you didn't mind the dirty looks if it meant staying around your family
plus a new baby brother was more than enough joy to offset the feelings of exclusion
you were fluent in na'vi long before neteyam came along, and you took charge teaching him to speak, walk, even string an bow
perhaps you took charge a little too well
"y/n." jake warned. "put him down."
your brother was only a few months old, yet you were manhandling him as if he'd grown enough to withstand the rough grabbing and pulling.
you were surprisingly strong for a human kid your age (you can thank neytiri for that), allowing you to hold neteyam in your arm with ease.
"no." you said simply.
jake gave you a look. of course you had to enter a rebellious phase right when neteyam was very fragile.
"y/n."
you groaned. "what?"
"don't make me get your mother."
"i'm teaching him."
"he doesn't need to be taught right now, sweetheart." jake said gently, approaching you with caution and attempting to take neteyam off your hands.
"he's just lying around all day!" you rebutted, swerving away from him. the flush of speed made neteyam chirp softly in excitement as he gazed up at you. you smiled at pat his head briskly. "might as well fill the time up with something." you mumbled as you stroked his bald head.
"that's a good idea, but how about something less dangerous?" jake grinned widely, trying to sell his point. he held up a ball and some toy blocks. "huh? come on, what d'you say?"
you gave him an unimpressed look, not bothering to answer him as you swiftly turned around and exited the tent. ignoring the sharp noise of protest from jake behind you, you smiled proudly at your brother and nuzzled into his head.
"you're gonna be a great olo'eyktan one day, brother." you assured him. "but first, we gotta get away from dad and teach you how to walk n' stuff."
he babbled in agreement.
in the year when it was just you and neteyam, you bonded inseparably
he was always behind you, like a puppy chasing a little duck around
there was a time when other clan members were a bit concerned that he was spending more time with you than other na'vi children
"neytiri, listen to reason." one omaticaya woman told her.
neytiri was sharpening weapons with some of the other women, all sitting in a circle in a time where they were supposed to be exchanging stories and dreaming about the future. but some chose to gossip and condemn.
"i am listening, though i would not call it reason." neytiri shot back.
"your son is descended from great lineage. consider having him romp around with his own kind instead of an unwanted child."
neytiri hissed, slamming her arrows down. the other women ducked their heads to avoid her anger. "that child is very much wanted. in a million years, i would not believe i would grow so close to a human child, but it has happened. i chose to stop lying to myself long ago."
the woman scoffed, looking around the circle incredulously. "are you hearing what you are saying? we fought hard to eradicate the sky people from our land and you have one growing among us."
neytiri glared. "once, the great mother brought a sky person into our lives, and look at the good that's come of it. eywa watches over this child in the same way. she is special."
despite neytiri's argument, the other women continued to nudge their kids into neteyam's daily routine
for a week, you barely saw him
you stayed in the hut, like usual, watching them play in the grass outside
you rarely emerged from the safety of your home in fear of the judgmental looks you'd receive—it was fine, until you had a brother to miss.
"why don't you go out there?" jake crouched beside you. "m'sure neteyam would appreciate a familiar face."
you gave him a weird look that clearly said no.
he sighed and brought your head into his side, hugging you tightly. in these moments, he didn't know what to say to you. he had no qualifications for being a father, for shaping a young one's whole life, and it was becoming all the more real to him in this instance.
he was about to speak up when you mumbled, "i know they don't want me here."
jake cursed internally. "they... they just misplace their hatred and anger, baby. that kinda stuff is for adults only. they should know better than to denounce a perfect little angel like you." he smiled, pinching your cheek gently.
silence filled the room once more.
you looked up at him, fighting with feelings of unease you couldn't name. "... you want me here, right?"
jake's heart split in two. he cupped your face firmly, holding your gaze. "y/n. 'course i want you here, baby. you're my first little girl, and i would never give you up, not for anyone. i don't care if our life is a little different because you're around. besides, you've more than proven your ability to hold your own."
his declaration warmed your heart until you felt like there was a furnace of love burning inside you.
"i was once human too, you know. you remember, don't you?" he paused as you nodded. "see? for you and us, it's not about being human or na'vi. it's about being our little girl and us being your parents. that's the type of thing where it doesn't matter what you are. you could be... i dunno."
"a worm?"
he chuckled. "yeah. you could be a worm and i'd still love you to death."
a thud caught both of your attention. neteyam grunted as he propped himself up again.
"huh?" you glanced out the window. the other na'vi kids were still out there. you hopped off the windowsill and rushed to his side, helping him stand. "what are you doing back here? your friends are still outside."
he just made a face of distaste, shaking his head.
"looks like he prefers big sis instead." jake grinned, squeezing your shoulders as he passed by. "you two be safe—y/n, no funny business. and don't think about starting a fire."
he left you two playing as he went to have a word with some clan members.
kiri
since both of you were adopted, you related to kiri in a way. you were determined to make sure she didn't feel different, especially in light of her affinity for eywa and natural things
when you and the others would go out to play, kiri would run off
you'd find her lying on the ground, embracing the earth
"kiri!" you gasp, falling to your knees beside her. you carried lo'ak on your back as neteyam toddled beside you. "you can't just run off like that on your own!"
she sat up in a daze, blinking slowly. the grass around her fell back into a lifeless state but the seeds of eywa still hung around. you gently pushed one from ticking your face.
she looked a bit sheepish, averting her eyes as she stood up to follow you. you frowned and sighed, helping lo'ak off your back. you took her hand and flopped back onto the ground.
"you know what... a couple more minutes couldn't hurt." you groaned as you stretched. you tucked your arms under your head, getting comfortable. kiri smiled and reclined beside you.
in that moment, it was as if all the energy in space aligned and you were plucked from your physical form and woven into the stream and cycle of all the energy and consciousness of pandora.
early on, you knew kiri wasn't a fighter
as in, not a let's ride into battle on the back of an ikran guns blazing type of fighter
you started teaching her about the different herbs, plants, and fruits around pandora
she sucked in everything you taught her like a sponge and soon enough it got to a point where you two were learning together
you entered the tent with a thick book clutched tightly against your chest. "kiri!" you whispered urgently.
she perked up, dashing across the room.
you let the book drop onto the ground with an oof, flipping it open. "look, kiri, it's your ma's journal!" you grinned, showing her dr. augustine's signature. you figured you'd leave out the part how you swiped it from norm and max's lab.
her face brightened at the familiar name, staring at the journal in wonder. she flipped through it, but couldn't recognize any of the text. it was all written in english, with bits of na'vi scattered here and there.
"read to me?" she asked, nudging the journal to you. she snuggled into your side as you read her birth mother's findings and conclusions to her.
jake and neytiri found you two sleeping soundly against each other.
lo'ak
lo'ak was an instigator from day one
literally came out the womb quarrelling with everyone
mo'at let a lengthy exhale escape her lungs. neytiri had just given life to her second son, lo'ak, and the boy just would not stop crying. despite all her years as a mother and tsahik, nothing she did soothed her youngest grandson.
"is he hungry?" jake offered, earning dark glares from both his wife and mother in law.
"jake."
"don't you think we tried that?"
he shrunk away, holding neteyam in his arms. he leaned against the wall beside you, giving you a shrug that said hey, i tried.
you pursed your lips, a paradoxical mix of concern and annoyance bubbling up inside of you at lo'ak's wailing. you stood, ducking under mo'at's arm and climbed onto the side of neytiri's bed. she was still talking to mo'at while rocking lo'ak in her arms.
you studied him as he cried, your patience declining by the second. with a sharp but gentle tug to his neural braid, you directed his attention to you. "what are you so upset about, lo'ak? you literally just got here." you whispered urgently.
almost surprised, his cries died down to hiccups and whimpers. you sat back as the adults in the room peered over the newborn.
"ahhh, there he is. poor baby, it's alright." mo'at smiled, stroking lo'ak's head gently. neytiri cooed softly, kissing his bald head repeatedly.
lo'ak found you very cute, though, and was extra gentle when playing with you
you were 11, and neteyam just turned 7, and both kiri and lo'ak were 6 (kiri just a couple months older than lo'ak)
so you had a whole litter of hyperactive kids
you were an overworked big sister lol
and lo'ak was a middle child through and through — with neteyam being the eldest and kiri being a special case, lo'ak didn't get a lot of chances to stand out
thus starting a rebellious streak
but he always got a loooot of love and attention from you
"these are the ones you want, lo'ak?" you hummed. you swirled the bowl around, watching the beads roll at the bottom. "i like the blue."
he fell into your lap with a grumble, his back to you. you just snickered. "what'd you get grounded for this time?"
he scoffed and crossed his arms. "don't wanna talk about it."
"okay." you pat his shoulder before taking out his old braids.
a beat passed.
"all i did was follow neteyam outside. so what if i tried to use his bow?" he complained.
you smiled as he ranted—it was like clockwork.
"it's not like he tried to stop me, either. i didn't even come that close to hurting anything. my aim was off." he complained. "besides, weren't you doing stuff like that when you were younger than i am?"
"yeah," you answered, massaging his scalp. "but i actually sat through all my lessons."
he scoffed, stewing in silence.
you softened. "sorry. don't want a lecture, huh?" you continued to do his hair, and slipping in the beads he wanted.
"next time, you and i should go together." he muttered. "i'm done hanging around little mr. perfect."
"bold words from the kid who looks up to little mr. perfect." you gave him a knowing look and he huffed, avoiding your gaze.
you pat his head and made little jazz hands. "tadaaa. all done!"
he didn't move from your lap.
"lo'ak, i'm done—"
"i know." he muttered softly. you understood what he needed. you laughed and hugged him tightly. he wasn't so little anymore—none of them were. your laughter was infectious and he started to smile, too.
"house arrest isn't that bad. you can hang out with me while the others gotta train with mom and dad." you said, self-satisfied.
he smiled, rolling his eyes. "i guess."
you stood, rifling through your trunk of stuff. "maybe bow and arrows aren't your thing. wanna try a gun instead?" you held one up.
lo'ak's ears stood up, his eyes wide. "y/n!" he exclaimed, looking around as he lowered his voice. "how do you even have that?!"
"dad taught me." you grinned, swiftly removing the bullets. can't be too safe. "just don't tell anyone, okay?"
he matched your grin, nodding fervently. he ran to your side and eagerly watched your demonstrations.
tuk
for 7 years, it was just you, neteyam, kiri, and lo'ak. then all of a sudden, neytiri and jake announced they had another on the way
everyone was excited of course, and the debate on whether it was going to be a boy or girl was lively
you, personally, hoped for a baby sister
you had two baby brothers already! and they were handfuls.
when tuk finally came, lo'ak and kiri were 7, neteyam was 8, and you were 12
she learned to walk and speak faster to keep up with everyone
this set the precedent for how she hangs out with each other too
"tuk." lo'ak groaned, stopping to wait for the youngest sully. "you were the one who said you could keep up."
"i can!" she whined, clumsily hopping across the small gap between branches.
lo'ak rolled his eyes, walking off to join neteyam in the front. kiri was off... somewhere, connecting with the energy of everything probably.
you shook your head at your brother's behavior. you offered your hand to tuk, pulling her up onto the branch.
"they're so mean to me," she fussed. "they never wait for me."
"i know, tuk. give yourself a year or two and you'll be as fast as them in no time."
she grumbled, strolling alongside you. "you're smaller than i am. how do you keep up with them?"
you blew a raspberry. "lots of practice."
she started skipping, the branch teetering under her steps. "i just wanna hang out with them."
"they don't do anything cool anyway," you whisper to her conspiratorially. "it's all about shooting arrows and training these days. come on," you held out your hand. "i got something better for us."
she beamed and slotted her hand in yours. you both ran off together, all giggles and whoops of excitement.
you got to the end of the path, leaping off the branch and into the waterhole below.
she screamed, coming to a halt at the edge of the branch. "it's too high!"
you surfaced, wading onto shore. "don't worry, tuk, it's deep enough to break your fall!"
"i'll miss the water!"
"trust me!" you yell up to her. she made a brief sound of protest before stepping back. screwing her eyes shut, she ran with all her might and jumped off. she screamed all the way down.
you laughed at her, blocking your face from the splash. she surfaced with a gasp, laughing brightly.
"i did it!"
the early years were the easiest. but once the sky people returned, everything was different.
!! from now on, i'm gonna make alternating parts—one storyline following the events of atwow and the other just a compilation of fluff/comfort scenarios. for example, the next part is gonna be plot based and then the following part is just gonna be silly goofy moments. and it'd keep alternating til the atwow plot is done !!
thanks for reading!!

I really loved this beautiful avatar 2 fanart of Jake Sully's characters with his adopted eldest daughter Kiri together and above all because it is really adorable the way Jake holds his eldest daughter while he also covers her with a blanket so that no boy is looking at her and so they don't try to conquer her at the same time that I also loved the relationship we saw that Jake and Kiri had during the Avatar 2 movie and above all because I love how protective and loving Jake is with his daughter Kiri and I hope we see them for much longer time together in the Avatar 3 movie

By the way, this beautiful Fanart of them is not mine and the credits are not for me, but I let you know that right here I am going to leave you the link of the true creator on Twitter. Since apparently there is a new update on Twitter and you can only see the link if you press X.Com

In Deep ; Neteyam x Fem!Human! Reader
Summary: When Tuk gets stuck underwater, there's only one person who can save her...
Lil bit angsty, lil bit fluffy. If you're sensitive to matters related to drowning, I suggest you skip this story.
If not, then enjoy! 💙
"Aaaand, I'm officially done."
Hands burning, you release the final inky braid of your boyfriend's that you've been working on.
Leaning his head back against your lap from his seat on the floor, Neteyam's glimmering eyes meet yours as he beams.
"Thank you, yawntutsyìp, what would I do without you?"
You don't get a chance to answer as he gently pulls your face down to meet his, the glass of your exopack chilly against his forehead. When he finally releases you, he's smiling wider than ever, but the same can't be said for the other figure present.
Sharpening her spear, Neytiri's glare never leaves you. Throughout the six month's worth of courting her son, you've never once been able to win her approval. Seeing her pride and joy be practically polluted by a damned tawtute was not her vision for the eldest Sully child.
And you felt that. Even without the prejudices against your species, what could you possibly offer her family? You lack the basic genetics that make the Na'vi so wondrous, not to mention the survival skills and intelligence. No matter how much Neteyam tells you otherwise, you feel inferior. And Neytiri's hostility doesn't help.
Yet in spite of it al, Neteyam had been defiant of his mother for the first time in his life. And it was all in pursuit of you; his star girl, his little love, his mate.
He catches your worrisome look and follows your eyes over to his mother's. With a sigh, he frowns at her silently, but her eyes remain the same, burning more ferociously than the campfire between you. No one says a thing; well, no one actually gets the chance.
"Help! HELP! It's Tuk!!"
The sound of Kiri's voice is the only thing that snaps Neytiri's attention away from you and her son. The teenage girl sprints over to where you all rise from your seats in a panic. She's gasping for breath and drenched from the ocean's waters.
Neteyam takes a step towards his sister, flashing you a worried, yet warm, look before he does so. Ever the level-headed communicator, he puts a hand on her shoulder, "Kiri, slow down. What's happened?"
"We- me, Lo'ak and Tuk- were free diving, and she spotted that new species of coral- you know, the one Norm told us about?"
Your eyes widened at that- you knew exactly which species she was talking about. A mysterious unnamed specimen with the ability to interact with the energy around it, not dissimilar to the Venus Flytrap plants you'd read about on Earth. Norm had told you all about this new discovery made by one of the botanists, detailing it's features and abilities. It was honestly quite fascinating; powerful, alive, dangerous.
"This new species, yes, I remember." Neteyam's green eyes transform with an amber hue just as Neytiri begins bombarding Kiri with a million questions.
"Well, we went to get a better look at it, and I told Tuk not to touch, but she didn't listen!" Kiri begins to cry, her face wracked with guilt. By this point, several overhearing Metkayina have joined the scene, "It's got her!"
"I can't reach her...the gap in the coral is too small..." Lo'ak suddenly appears on land, visibly exhausted.
"Can't we cut her free?" Neteyam sensibly suggests, but his siblings shake their heads.
"We tried, but whenever you cut a piece, even more grows!" Kiri wailed, prompting Lo'ak to put an arm around her. You make a mental note to suggest the name 'Hydra' to Norm once this is all over. "There's a gap in the coral-"
"-I will go!" Neytiri booms, ridding herself of her bow and spear. Lo'ak, however, stops her in her tracks.
"It's no use, mother! The gap is way too small, I couldn't fit through it..."
You squeeze Neteyam's hand sympathetically, and when his amber eyes meet yours, you get an idea. Amidst all the commotion, the panicked voices and desperate dives into the water, it all becomes crystal clear to you.
"I'll get her out."
Everyone's attention snaps over to you in an instant, not quite believing what you've just said.
"My love, it's far too dangerous! What if the water leaks into your mask?" Neteyam kneels down in front of you, sternness lacing his features. You simply shake your head.
"I'm the only one who can reach her and fit through the gap, I must go."
Neteyam exchanges a worried glance with his siblings, ignoring his mother's scornful expression. Lo'ak and Kiri nod to him, and he knows what he has to do.
"Then I will go with you."
"What's going on?"
Jake suddenly appears with Tonowari, presumably returning from some sort of meeting.
"No time to explain, Dad. Please could you fetch Y/N's spare mask?" Neteyam briefly requests, and is met with a nod of his father's head.
Meanwhile, you hurriedly rid yourself of your blouse. It's a flowing, loose fabric- certainly not appropriate for swimming. With no other choice, you're left in your bra before taking Neteyam's hand and diving into the water.
Lo'ak and Kiri promptly follow, helping you get down to the specific spot. Several other Metkayina follow you in, unable to help, but worried for the youngest Sully.
When you see Tuk, you have to do your best not to panic. She's more-or-less unconscious, limbs entangled in the coral's moving tendrils. Neteyam's grip on your hand tightens, but you place yours on his chest, wordlessly reassuring him, and he lets you go.
Lo'ak helps you over to the small gap in the coral. It's no wonder the siblings struggled, the opening is barely wide enough for a human to fit through. Yet, somehow you do, mindful of the fact that one wrong move would put you in the exact same situation as Tuk. With that in mind, you carefully make your way to her body after taking Lo'ak's knife from him.
There's really no other choice but to cut Tuk free, but you have to make quick work of it. Thankfully, your nimble fingers are up to the task as the Sully siblings watch on desperately.
But, amidst your hard work, you fail to notice that the suction lining of your exopack had come slightly free along your jaw, letting in a small trickle of water and, in turn, a whisper of oxygen out.
Neteyam goes to lunge towards you, noticing a small amount of water build up in your mask. But Lo'ak holds him back, signing that you're fine.
That's what you try to tell yourself as you hold your mask to your face tightly, cutting away at the last couple of coral tendrils. When you give Kiri the signal, she slashes an opening above you, and you haul Tuk's body out of the coral entrapment before the tendrils can grow back.
The rest of it becomes a blur. The Sully siblings are at your side in an instant, hauling you and Tuk up the surface. Your mask continues to fill with water and once it floods above your nose, you hold your breath. But, by some miracle, your head soon breaks through the water's edge above you.
Kiri and Lo'ak take Tuk from you while Neteyam wraps his arms firmly around your waist. "It's going to be alright, my love, we're almost there..."
He continues to murmur to you comfortingly through his own panic, finally reaching Jake and grabbing for the spare mask. "I'm going to take this off, alright?"
You have no time to acknowledge his words before your mask is swiftly swept off of your face and the new, dry, undamaged replacement is secured against your skin. You gasp in jagged breaths, only now processing it all as Neteyam bundles you against him.
"My brave, brave girl..." he whispers into your hair, cupping the back of your head as you both float in the water. For a moment, the both of you seem to forget about Tuk, and it's only when you hear her coughing back on the shore that you remember.
"Oh, thank Ewya!" Neytiri gasps, sobbing hysterically as she reaches to comfort her youngest daughter. "Don't you ever do that again, do you hear me child?!"
Tuk nods with a cry, before rushing over to you. "Y/N, you saved me! Thank you, thank you, thank you..."
The rest of the family smile at the two of you, Jake and Lo'ak thanking you profusely while Kiri joins yours and Tuk's group hug.
"Hey, hey, careful. She needs to breathe..." Neteyam protectively instructs, gently pulling his sisters off of you. You smile at them and mouth a silent 'thank you' to your boyfriend, before turning to hug him as he kneels to your height.
"My love," Neteyam's deep voice draws a soft smile from you as he tenderly cups your cheek, "you were so brave."
You can't help blushing at his praise, but grasp at his hand that's cupping your exopack-covered cheek and pull him closer. "You would've done the same if you could have, ma 'Teyam..."
The longer you hold him, the more pronounced the little sniffles heard from him become. Pulling back, you eye him worriedly, 'What is it, 'Teyam? Are you alright?"
Coaxing his eyes open by running the pads of your fingers beneath them, his tearful irises meet yours. "I could've lost you, little one..."
"But you didn't," you gently remind him, holding his hand over your heart, "I'm here, and I love you. Okay?"
Neteyam nods forcefully, almost as if an absence of the action would make you disappear. Yet, his eyes never leave yours. Not even for a moment.
"I love you...so deeply...even deeper than the waters you just braved for my sister..."
Now it's your eyes that overflow with salty tears and you throw your arms around Neteyam's broad shoulders. "I love you, 'Teyam...Nga yawne lu oer..."
"Y/N,"
The sound of your name breaks up the tender moment prematurely, and you spring away from Neteyam. In truth, you'd forgot that his family, and several people from the Metkayina tribe, were watching.
It had been Neytiri's voice that cut through the sweet moment like a knife through butter. You gulp, craning your neck to face the Sully matriarch, who's shrugging off her mate's hand from her shoulder.
You're surely for it now.
But to your pleasant surprise, she drops to her knees and hangs her head in..shame? Eyes wide, you look at her children and Jake, wondering what on Pandora you're supposed to do now. But they all smile softly.
"Forgive me. I've underestimated you, thought you like them. But you saved my child at your own risk. I was wrong."
You can tell that Neytiri's English isn't quite advanced enough to fully communicate her thanks. But it's there in her eyes.
"Please, forgive me..."
With a gentle nod of your head, you smile. You never expected Neytiri to see you as anything other than a Sky Person, but you really didn't expect her to grab at you and pull you into a hug.
Your arms raise to your side in surprise, and the look on your face is clearly comical enough to make Lo'ak burst out laughing- until Jake smacks him up the side of his head. Tentatively, you return Neytiri's hug. "I forgive you..."
"You are good for my son," Neytiri pulls back to look at you with a warmth you've never seen before, "thank you."
"Okay, Mother, let little Y/N breathe." Neteyam chuckles, gently pulling you back towards him. Neytiri shakes her head at her son's overprotectiveness, but fondly places her hand atop your head for a short moment before returning to fuss over Tuk.
You turn back to Neteyam and a soft hum leaves his lips and his eyes trail over your face, before he notices some Metkayina boys gawking at you. Only then do the both of you realise that you're stood in your bra and a pair of shorts.
"W-we, uh, let's get you back to the lab, get you some more clothes." Neteyam suggests, using his towering advantage to shield your body from prying eyes as his own glare at the intruders.
"Good idea," you giggle, desperate to be a little more concealed now that you're aware of your state, "I could do with a nap."
"I'm not surprised," Neteyam's face softens and he tilts his head, "may I join you?"
