Your funeral was beautiful.
Upon hearing of your unfortunate death, the leaders of the Metkayina, Ronal and Tonowari, and the rest of their clan began to make preparations for it. The reef people had different funeral customs than the Omatikaya, but made a conscious effort to make it somewhat similar to that of your home clan. Just a little something that you could take with you onto your way to join Eywa.
Your body was delicately wrapped and placed into a giant leaf that was able to hold your weight above the water, preventing you from sinking to the bottom.
Tsireya had gotten permission from both of your parents to do your hair for the ceremony. It was a tradition of the Metkayina to do their recently passed loved ones hair before they joined the Great Mother. It was something that she wanted to do for you, especially after all you did during your time on Awaâatlu.
Each of your siblings also wanted to do something for you before you joined the Great Mother forever. Each of them had given something to you. Neteyam had replaced your armband with his, he wearing yours. Loâak had taken the hair piece that he always used to tie back his hair and put it in yours, asking Tsireya if she could incorporate it into your hair somehow. Kiri had wrapped her favorite necklace around your neck. And Tuk had wrapped the anklet she was making you around your right ankle, all of your favorite shells adorning the woven material. They had wanted to give a piece of themselves to you before your body officially joined Eywa, so theyâd be with you for all eternity until it was their time to join you in the afterlife.
Your Mother was at the back of the leaf that held your body, helping her eldest son push it along the surface of the water as they joined the rest of the family and members of the Metkayina.
She wished she was back home. She wished she was doing all of this the only way she knew how, the Omatikaya way. Where she would sing your song chord as her Mother chanted prayers for your soul to return safely back into the arms of Eywa. Where she would experience the comfort of her people during her mourning. Where she would place an atokirina in your open grave at the base of Home Tree. Where they would hold a celebration of your life and achievements. Neytiri just wanted the comfort of her home. Of where she grew up. Of where she had given birth to you and watched you grow up. Thatâs all she desired.
Many faces in the crowd were damp at the sight. Not many of them knew you, but they could feel the love that the Sully family and their Oloâeyktanâs family held for you, and so they grieved over that. Over the deep, familial love that youâll never get to experience again. Over the young life that was lost. Over the future life youâd never get to have.
Once they reached the point where they needed to, Neytiri readied herself to slide your body out from under the leaf.
But before she was completely able to, her children stopped her, wanting one more chance to see your face or touch your azure skin.
Neteyam was the first to approach you, turning around from the front of the leave that held you.
He gently touched your face, running a finger over the faintest scar that rested underneath your eye, smiling fondly at the memory that flashed in his head. Neteyam slightly bent down to rest his lips against the crown of your hair, âRest well, ma tsmuktu,â he whispered against your azure skin, gently kissing where his lips rested upon.
He thought the whole thing was bittersweet. You had worked so hard to protect the people and your family, being successful in your tribulations. It was your job as the eldest sibling to do so. And now it was Neteyams. You passing on the baton to him. He promised to do as you did. Protect the ones you loved until your very last breath.
Then, it was Loâak who approached your still body.
He had glided up to the side of the leaf, putting one hand on your forearm and the other on your cheek. He shakingly smiled down at your peaceful form, almost believing that you were just asleep and not actually dead. Almost.
Loâak had made sure to wear every single piece of jewelry you made him over the years, there barely being any room on his forearms due to the sheer amount he was wearing. The recent you had attempted at making him was tied to his left wrist, on the hand that gently rested on your cheek. It was far from finished, the weaving pattern stopping at the middle and the beads were slightly uneven. When he entered your side of the marui and saw the bracelet you were making for him, it made him sob once more. He felt so guilty, so sad. You were no longer here to offer your comfort or to tease him. But he still felt your presence wherever he went, especially if he had one of your bracelets on.
No matter how many bracelets Loâak managed to pack onto his arms, he still felt the gaping hole in his heart that only your presence could fill. He doesnât think anything on Pandora, or in the universe, could fill up the hole you left behind. You were Loâakâs favorite sibling, of course there was going to be a hole in your absence. He would never admit that you were his favorite sibling, but everyone knew. Everyone knew.
âIrayo, tsmuktu,â Loâak muttered, rubbing your forearm softly, âFor everything..
Neytiri had decided now was the best moment to remove you from the leaf, taking you into her arms as you floated against the light current of the waves.
You were so quiet. Neytiri doesnât think you had been more quiet in your life. Of course your lack of noise wasnât purposeful or your doing. But she still couldnât help but feel bothered by your silence. You were quite a fussy child, becoming even more rowdy as you grew and time went on. Thatâs what Neytiri loved about you. You never changed much or grew out of your childhood habits. She frowned at her realization of you being so quiet. It was a stark difference from your usual personality, making everything more real, more painful. She finds herself straining to hear your little giggle whenever you played around with the family, pretending to be asleep when you werenât. But her sensitive ears pick up nothing, frowning at the reality that youâd never make a sound again.
Jake had glided up besides his wife, aiding her in floating your body.
Tonowari had explained to Jake the Metkayinaâs funeral process and what it would entail. He and Neytiri would swim down to the bottom of the ocean, towards the glowing orange tendrils on the seafloor. The Oloâeyktan explained that once your body made contact with the tendrils, they would welcome you in a warm embrace, slowly and gently wrapping themselves around your whole body until no hint of skin was left. Finally pulling you down into itself as you became one.
To be frank, Jake was not ready to do all of this. He wanted, no needed more time with you. With his eldest. You were his first child and youâd always hold a special place in his heart, but it wouldnât be the same anymore. Thereâd always be that void that followed him around. He felt as if he shouldâve done more. That maybe if he didnât run from Quaritch, youâd still be alive and breathing in his arms. Maybe if he tried harder to be a better Father, then youâd still be here.
Just as Jake and Neytiri were passing by their youngest children, Tuk stopped them, putting her forehead against your cheek, softly kissing it as she pulled away. Kiri copied her movements, running her hand through your braided hair only before pulling herself away from your body. Spider stayed where he was next to Kiriâs ilu, too afraid to approach your body and pay his respects. Not that he didnât want to. He just didnât know what to do at this exact moment. Everything was so confusing, especially after saving Quaritch minutes after witnessing the life leave your eyes. He didnât even know why he did it. He had no explanation as to why. He felt out of place. Like he didnât deserve to be present at your funeral.
âItâs time, Neytiri,â Jake softly spoke, putting his bruised hand onto his wifes delicately painted face, gently rubbing her cheekbone in hopes to comfort her. Burying your child was never an easy feat. Jake wanted to be there for his wife. Wanted to be her crutch to lean on. But, he too was barely hanging on.
Neytiri only nodded at her husband's words, taking a deep breath before diving down into the water, carrying your body in her four fingered hands.
Jake followed his wife shortly after, knots forming in his stomach as the orange glowing tendrils came into view, swaying back and forth from the current.
Placing your body onto the tendrils was something neither parent wanted to do. Watching as your body slowly floated downwards and made contact with the tendrils made Jake want to reach out to you and bring you into his chest. Watching as the tendrils started to wrap themselves around your form and practically swallow you whole made Jake want to cry out. He found himself yearning to have your own burial site, so he could go back to visit you. But this wasnât Earth and he wasnât back with the Omatikaya. The Metkayina did things differently and he had to respect that, even if it meant not being able to visit your grave whenever he wanted to.
From the water's surface, the remaining Sullys watched as you were swallowed by the mass of tendrils and finally became one with the Great Mother, body and spirit.
Kiri and Spider held hands as they watched. Kiri felt her eyes sting from the tears pricking at her waterline, mixing in with the seawater. Spider only blankly stared at your slowly disappearing body, swallowing the lump in his throat.
Neteyam curled in on himself as he floated there, almost copying your fetal stance you were put into in order to be wrapped in preparation for your funeral.
Loâak had reached out towards you, sobbing into the water as bubbles erupted from around him, water seeping into his lungs from the action.
And Tuk couldnât bring herself to watch, instead finding comfort in watching the iluâs float in their place.
Tsireya, Aoânung, and Rotxo only continued to cry silent tears as they watched from afar. The glowing light of the ocean floor becoming brighter as it absorbed your body, dimming out slightly, a telltale sign that you were now with the Great Mother for all eternity.
The whole night felt surreal, even afterwards.
No one uttered a signal word in the Sullyâs marui pod, sitting in silence as everyone processed what occurred only hours prior.
The sea gives and the sea takes.
The sea gave the Sullyâs a new home but as a result, took a small part of them as the price.

The First Peaceful Sleep
Sweet story of Neytiri and Loâak spending some time together after Neteyamâs death. They are still grieving, and Loâak feels like his father blames him. Neytiri comforts him and assures him that he is loved <3
Neytiri and Loâak returned from the village meeting, trying to enter the marui as quietly as possible. The moon shined brightly outside the pod, signifying another long night. Jake, Kiri and Tuk were laying together in the biggest hammock, fast asleep, not even stirring from the sounds the two made as they entered the home.
Jake was laying in the middle taking up most of the space, with one arm wrapped around Kiriâs waist and the other hand resting on Tukâs head. Kiriâs head lay in the crook of his neck and shoulder while Tuk was sprawled over his chest, her little body rising and falling with his breathing. Her children looked so small next to him, but they were getting bigger every day. Everything moved so fast, Neytiri wished she cherished the days with them even more than she already had.
She smiled to herself as she watched them, and walked over to where they were in the hammock. Tuk was always such a reckless sleeper, but Jake loved that about her. And Kiri was soft and gentle⌠no matter what she did. She was a gift from the great mother. She looked at peace here in her fatherâs arms. She was glad they could have one moment of normalcy despite this war that continues to rage on.
Neytiri was happy to see her husband getting some well-needed rest. He has had little sleep since they buried Neteyam. He deals with the grief by putting his energy into work. He has been helping Tonowari with the rest of the clan and the cleanup of the battle⌠which is why Neytiri volunteered herself to go to the meeting in his place today. Ronal had asked for her anyway, wanting assistance from another Tsahik⌠well Tsahik-in-training technically. Neytiri had told Jake to stay back with the kids and get some sleep, and he reluctantly agreed. Loâak wanted to go to the meeting with his mom though, as he felt like he needed to help out more.
As Neytiri thought about all thatâs happened here, she couldnât help but wonder what would have happened if they stayed at home, with the rest of the Omaticaya. Would her eldest son still be alive?
Although she did not agree with Jakeâs decision to flee, she always respected him and tried her best to trust him. He has always protected them before, and she didnât know what she would do without him. They were a team regardless of the circumstances. All of Neytiriâs choices led her to this very moment.
She thought back to that faithful day where she spotted a dream-walker lost in the forest. When she trusted the sign of Ewya, lowered her bow, and chose to spare him. She looked at Jake as he lay sleeping with their daughters and she sighed. She loved him so much, and despite knowing what she knows now⌠she would choose him every time.
Neytiri placed a kiss on her daughtersâ and husbandâs foreheads. When she did this, Jakeâs eyes drifted open and focused on his wife.
He smiled softly at her. âYouâre back.â
âMhm. It ran very late. Iâll fill you in tomorrow,â she spoke softly.
âWhere is Loâak? Is he okay?â
Loâak looked up when he heard his name and Neytiri glanced back at him. He was sitting in the corner with his knees pulled up to his chest.
âOur son is here and he is fine. You can go back to sleep my beloved,â she said while she stroked his cheek with her thumb.
He leaned into the warmth of her hand with his face and let his eyes close.
âAre the girls making you uncomfortable? Shall I put them in their beds?â
âNo, Iâm fine. Donât wake them,â he murmured with his eyes still closed. She smiled at him once more and turned to her son.
âLoâak, do you want to sleep?â She asked him.
âNo, Iâm wide awake now,â he said as he traced the woven pattern on the floor beneath him.
âSo am I,â Neytiri responded. âAre you hungry?â
âNot really.â Loâak was now staring at his father and sisters sleeping, and Neytiri wondered what the look on his face meant.
âCome my love, letâs sit and talk then.â
âWont we wake them?â
âTheyâll be okay, theyâre heavy sleepers.â
She reached her hand out to him and he took it while smiling at her and moving to sit next to her.
She put an arm around him, pulled him close, and rest her head on top of his. âMy son, tell me whatâs on your mind.â
Loâak took a deep breath and tried to speak the words without crying, but he couldnât.
âI miss him, momâ his voice trembled and the tears streamed quickly down his face, as if he was holding this in all day.
Neytiri cupped his face with one hand while the other remained around his shoulder. She wiped his tears away with her thumb. She broke down when seeing her son like this and she began to tear up as well.
âI know you do, my love. Heâs your older brother, he should be here with you. Im so sorry you had to lose him and suffer like this.â She hugged him tighter.
Loâak looked up at her, âNo, Im sorry mom. I convinced him to go back to get Spider, if it wasnât for me, he-â
âStop.â Neytiri cut him off before he could continue.
âIt is not your fault. And I donât want to hear you saying something like that again. Those demons killed your brother. Not you.â
Loâak closed his eyes tightly and shoved his face into his momâs embrace to muffle his cries.
This pained her so much. She held him like this for a while and waited until his breathing regulated.
âLook at me,â she told him. He didnt move.
She released him and took his face in her hands but he refused to open his eyes. Neytiriâs lips trembled as she looked at her son.
âLoâak please,â she begged and Loâak opened his eyes when he heard his motherâs pleading voice.
âIt is our job as parents to protect you and your siblings. And we failed you.â Her voice cracked as she said this and more tears fell. âDonât you ever think that youâre responsible.â She took a deep breath. âI wish you didnât have to grow up in this world, so quickly like this. Its not fair and Iâm so sorry.â
âDonât cry mom.â Loâak reached up to caress his motherâs face. âItâs not your fault either.â
âI appreciate you, my love.â
She hugged him tightly and Loâak layed his head on his motherâs chest while she stroked his hair. They once again looked at each otherâs tear-stained faces and let out a chuckle. They sat for a while in the silence and it felt nice⌠to just be with each other.
âCome, Iâll loosen your braids and we can re-do them in the morning however you like,â Neytiri offered to her son.
âOkay.â
Loâak sat crosslegged on the floor of the marui and his mom kneeled behind him to begin working on his hair.
She always played in her childrenâs hair to get them to fall asleep; it was her best trick and it still worked even now when they were teenagers. But in this moment, she just wanted to spend some time with her son. Itâs been too long.
She worked quietly for a while, trying to be very gentle so he would feel relaxed.
Apparently this was not working because Loâak soon broke the silence.
âI know you donât blame me mom⌠but does he?â Loâak gestured to his sleeping father.
âNo, he could never,â Neytiri answered swiftly.
âIt feels like he does.â
This pained Neytiri to hear her son say⌠even though she knew Jake was acting a bit distant from Loâak these days.
She wanted to reassure him. âYour father has been grieving in his own way. He wants to busy himself with work so he doesnât have enough time to feel pain. He also feels at fault for bringing war to these people, so he has been distant⌠preoccupied. But he does not blame you.â
âThat sounds like an excuse. He can barely look at me sometimes. I see how he is around me. He doesnât treat Tuk and Kiri that way. Itâs just me.â
âYou know your dad has always treated your sisters differently from you and your brother. He babies them.â
Neytiri knew she was struggling to defend her husbandâs actions. She didnât like how Jake was so harsh, but she understood why he needed to be that way.
Loâak seemingly ignored her response and continued, âI will never live up to the great Toruk Makto. Iâm nothing like him.â
âHe was not always that great warrior. You know⌠you are more like your father than you think.â
âReally?â Loâak asked in disbelief.
âMhm. When I first met him, he did so many troublesome things. He went head-first into danger every time. He had no fear. You must have gotten it from him,â said Neytiri.
Loâak laughed lightly at this and Neytiri felt better that she made him smile. But she wanted him to understand.
âWhen he looks at you, he is reminded of himselfâŚso much so that it scares him.â
Loâak turns to his mother in surprise at this.
âDad? Scared?â
âMhm. Donât tell him I told you this as he would rather not worry you⌠but he is fearful of losing you. All of you. Back where he is from, he had no family. He was all alone, and he lost his brother too. But now he has all of us, and he loves us so much. Unfortunately his fear turns into anger when you get into trouble, but he just wants to keep you safe. He was trained to be a soldier when he was very young⌠you know this story. He raised you boys so harshly because he didnt know how else to do it. When the sky people left back then, we did not imagine that they would return the way they did. Well, at least not so quickly, and so much bigger and more powerful. And especially not while our children were still so young.â
Loâak was quiet, taking in this information.
âYour dadâs worst fear came true when we lost Neteyam. He doesnât want us to see it, but he is falling apart and trying to keep everything together.â
Loâak turned back to look at his mom when it sounded like she started to cry again.
âSo, please try to understand okay?â She asked him.
âI understand a bit more now, Mom. Thanks for telling me.â
âYou deserve to know his true feelings. Im sorry he is taking so long to tell you himself, but give him some time. The wound is still fresh for all of us. He is making mistakes now, but he will correct them⌠he always does.â
âOkay, mom.â
âYou look like him,â she says with a smile and she kisses his temple.
âI know. I got his fingers, toes, and his eyebrows to prove it,â Loâak responds in annoyance.
âYou got all his handsome features, too.â
Loâak smiled to himself as he heard this. He has always gotten bullied for looking differently. He was often called a âfreak,â just like his older sister. But there was a small part of him that liked being the only biological child to resemble his father in this way. It made him feel closer to him, and sometimes, it was the only thing he had.
Neytiri finished loosening Loâakâs braids and brushed his hair to remove all the knots. Then she placed another kiss on his cheek and wrapped her arms around him from behind.
He held onto her forearms with both hands and they stayed like that for a little while. Her hugging him⌠her head over his shoulder and their cheeks lightly pressed together. A mother and son.
Loâak closed his eyes and breathed deeply. Its been so long since his mom held him like this. He got scolded so often, that he forgot how much he yearned for this affection from his parents. He tried to take it in, and cherish it.
His mom released him and gestured for him to lay his head in her lap. âLay down, baby.â
Loâak did as she said, and she began to caress his head and run her hands through his hair. He felt the fatigue take over but he refused to sleep⌠not wanting to waste any time with his mother.
She spoke softly to him, âmy son please remember this. No matter how stubborn and troublesome you may be at times, I see you⌠and I know you are so much more.â
Loâak turned his face up to look at her and she smiled warmly down at him.
âYou are compassionate, warm-hearted, and headstrong. You are determined and hardworking. And you have so much love to give. All of you kids do. You saved us and we are so grateful for you. Your father and I have so much to learn from you. I love you so much.â
After hearing his mothers words, Loâak felt full inside⌠after a period of feeling only emptiness.
âI love you too, mom.â
âIts very late⌠lets sleep now, okay?â
âOkay,â Loâak was already drifting into sleep as he said this, he could no longer fight it.
Once she knew he was asleep, Neytiri carefully lifted his head from her lap and lay him on the cushioning of their sleeping mat. She spooned him from behind and interlocked her four fingers with his five.
As she relaxed and inhaled her sonâs scent, she felt sleepiness overcome her. She had not noticed how tired she actually was. She let her eyes close and in a few short moments, she fell asleep to the sounds of her loved ones breathing. It was the first peaceful sleep she has had in a while.
Got randomly inspired to write about these two. I hope we get to see more of their relationship in the future. I love Loâak as a character and he deserves the world! Hope you enjoyed :)

Reader and Jakeâs naâvi partners bonding over their baby fever once they see their little humans taking care of Spider. I can imagine Tsuâtey looking at her looking at Jake with that hungry look and being like âhaha sheâs WHIPPED. got baby fever for a HUMAN HAâ and then his ears flatten as his head snaps to his own partner, realizing âoh, shit. I have baby fever. I am whipped. oh no. do I want a baby??â
This! This is their entire dynamic! Just ribbing each other like the children they are, only to turn out to be complete hypocrites. And whilst Tsu'tey has his realisation, I just know Neytiri is laughing her ass off at him.
Just Jake and Reader's confusion as they tend to Miles (Spider), whilst Neytiri loudly cackles and Tsu'tey sits there with his head in his hands looking like he's having a breakdown over a maths problem.
Baby Miles (Spider) is too powerful for any of them to resist.
For anyone confused by this ask, you can find the fic it belongs to on Ao3, here! Chapter 2 is almost complete :)

Sully Family x Son!Reader

Prologue
â ď¸ : Blood, Swearing
Y/n was the second youngest member of the sully family. Born on 2157, he is one year younger than Lo'ak and Kiri. Y/n was born with a streak of white hair and the color of his skin was lighter than an avatar. He was also a bit small compare to his siblings. Physically Y/n was told that he would be weak and not as strong as a normal avatar, this was said by the other scientists seeing that Y/n had a hard time breathing right after he qas born, but Jake believed that Y/n is just as strong as his siblings.
One thing that concerns them is Y/n's hair. It was never seen before and Jake had to explain to Neytiri back at Earth there are some people with heterochromia that could result different colors in their body. Neytiri might still be confused about it but when she saw Y/n for the first time she immediately loved him. The only left is how others view him.
Growing up Y/n never really interacted with others because he could feel the weird stares from them even if he was a child. Some of them have already gotten used to Y/n's appearance but the other kids might see his hair a bit weird, resulting in Y/n finding it hard to make friends. But he got his family so why should he be worried?
"Wait for me!!" Little Y/n said as he tried to keep up with his siblings, the kids were running through the forest trying to hide from their parents as they were playing a series of police game their father taught them. "Don't be too loud Y/n! They'll hear us" Kiri said to him while running. Neteyam leads the pack as they went under the leaves and roots of the trees. He stopped and looked at his younger siblings, "Let's split up so we don't lose immediately like last time"
They immediately scattered and Y/n follows Neteyam to his hiding spot. "Y/n? Go you need to hide" Neteyam pushed Y/n away "b-but we always hiwde together" Y/n said as he grabs Neteyam's hand with both of his own. "Y/n..." Neteyam can't stand his baby's brother cuteness "Alright alright you can hide with me but don't be noisy" "Yay!"
"Y/n!" Neteyam shushed him as he giggles
Not even a couple of minutes both of you can hear Lo'ak screaming and running away as your father's voice was not far heard. Neteyam peaked through the small crack between the rocks and saw Lo'ak being drag by his father to the jail area. "Alright, Y/n I need you to stay here until either I get back or dad"
"Okay...but return fast" Y/n held up his little pinky to Neteyam. He smiled and seals the pinky promise, then he sneakily went outside to try and save his stubborn other brother.
Y/n was left alone in a dark hiding spot, minutes went by and he hide there patiently waiting for his parents or Neteyam to find him. He was getting tired and bored of waiting.
He can't help but get excited when he heard a rustle, and thought it was someone coming to find him so he just gets out of his hiding spot. But when he got out he instead saw an adult thanator looking at him. Y/n screamed and runs away as it started to chase after him.
Jake and Neytiri were busy chasing around the other kids and keeping them in place when suddenly they heard Y/n's scream. They both looked at eachother with panic in their eyes "Oh my Eywa, Y/n!" Neytiri shouted, Jake took off running towards the direction. Praying and hoping he'll be alright.
Y/n ran as fast as his little legs can take him but the thanator was getting close and closer every minute. Luckily Y/n saw a small opening under a tree that was located near a ledge that leads to a pond. He immediately tries to get there but before he could the creature clawed one of his leg, causing Y/n to fall over the ledge. He rolls down and landed near the pond. At this point Y/n was shouting and crying for his dad, the pain on his legs didn't make it better either.
The creature landed infront of him, ready to attack again when Jake finally caught up and throws the spear at the creatures abdomen causing it to immediately fall and scram. Luckily he had a spear because he had just finished hunting today.
"Y/N! Oh my god, no no no.." Jake held Y/n in his arms carefully, his hand was stained with Y/n's own blood. "D-daddy..I-I'm scared" "I know baby, I know come on we'll get you home. Stay awake for me alright?" Jakes tries his best to stop the bleeding but then Y/n screamed "It hurts daddy!" Jake was shaking at this point because Y/n was loosing blood. He carefully lifts him up in his arms and began to ran back while carefully trying not to make the pain worse.
"I-It..hurts..." Y/n managed to say as his eyes were getting drowsy little by little. "Y/n! Wake up! Come on don't sleep, everything's going to be fine- baby come on be strong. We're almost home" Jake keeps on repeating it but as much as Y/n tried to stay awake, the pain and exhaustion gets to him eventually.
Y/n can hear his father shouting for him but he can't make up the words. Before Y/n passed out, the last thing he hear was Neytiri's scream
Y/n slowly opens his eyes and saw that he was in a room full off machine and some are attached to him. Y/n began to panic and tries to get up but the doors immediately opened "Y/n!" He saw his mother came into the room and his first instinct was that he wanted to be held by his parents.
He reaches for Neytiri and she went to Y/n's side, holding his hand and hugging him. Y/n sobbed a little as Neytiri kisses his forehead to comfort him while thanking Eywa for saving his life.
Not long after Y/n heard another footsteps and it was Jake, with a baby in his arms. Y/n knew immediately that it was his baby sister. Jake gives the baby to Neytiri and went to lay next to Y/n carefully and he leans into his father's warmth.
Jake wipes away his tears and also kisses his forhead. After Y/n stopped crying his attention shift to the small sleeping figure. "What is her name?" Neytiri smiled at him before answering, "Tuk. Tuktirey te Suli Neytiri'ite" "Tuwk. She's so small" Y/n repeats, and Jake chuckles at his son.
Y/n tries to remove the wires attached to him but Jake quickly stops him "Don't, Y/n."
"But.." Y/n quietly say as Neytiri held his hand. "I know... we'll get if off as soon as you're better alright?" He said as he stroked your hair.
"Is your leg still hurting?" Jake asked and Y/n shakes his head "Can I still play with Lo'ak, Nete, Kiri and Spidew?" Y/n asked
"Of course you can, but first you need to rest so you can get better" "But I want to sleep in my bed with daddy and mommy... I don't want to sleep here.." Neytiri squeeze Y/n's hand reassuringly. She can't stand seeing her child in this state. When Jake came back with Y/n, she was scared to death seeing him bleeding and unconscious. She was also close with her due and she doesn't want to lose a child on an important day.
Y/n was out for a couple of days and Jake had to make sure that Neytiri isn't stressing out because it might harm the baby. Neytiri was heartbroken because Y/n was so excited to meet his little sister. Thankfully Neytiri was able to deliver safely and the baby was healthy.
Y/n had to stay there for a while and he hated every single second of it. He felt scared and alone. He cannot see his siblings yet other than Tuk who was aslsep in his mother's arms mostly. Neytiri and Jake make sure to take turn to visit Y/n every single day.
He thought that everything would be back to the way it used to be but since that event Y/n was forbid to be out of Jake's sight or even go out to the forest alone or with his siblings. He was only allowed to go if either Neytiri or Jake was with him. In result Y/n spends his time almost everyday at home.
At first he was alright with it, thinking that Jake just wanted to protect him. But as time passes he started to notice that he also was constantly overlooked by his father and when he asked him to go and train together with Nete and Lo'ak he would always refused. Sometimes Y/n was upset with his father and often felt ignored by him until to the point where he felt like his father forgot he existed. All of this started when the sky people came back, of course it was the more reason he wasn't allowed to go out to the forest.
<Present day>
Y/n was with his grandmother, Mo'at. It was really something he would do around the camp. He only ever went out with either his parents and it was only on special occasions. Y/n was dying of boredom and he would always felt sad and jealous when the others can go out and play while he would have to stay behind. Tuk would sometime sneak out with the rest but Jake was too soft on her and she would get away with it.
Well let's say that Y/n didn't have the same privilege as Tuk. And sure the event he had was traumatic but sometimes he longed to be in the forest. He had asked Jake about it and his answer was always like "your not careful enough"
He would spend his time learning about making things from scratch, listening to music/radio that Jake gave him, and helping around the camp. Sometimes helping Kiri tend to the wounded.
Suddenly Tuk came in jumping with joy "Y/n! Come on! They are here!" Before Y/n could react Tuk takes his hand and drags him out of the tent.
Outside he saw Kiri and Spider "Y/n do you feel better?" Kiri asked, and Y/n responded with a nod. "Why did you sneak inside there bro? You know that place isn't for playing around.." Spider commented. "I was just curious" Y/n folded his arms in annoyance. "Plus dad already scolded me, so sadly I don't need anymore scolding monkey brain." Y/n chuckles a bit before running to catch up on Tuk "Hey! It's monkey boy. Not monkey brain!"
Tuk ran to their mother while Y/n noticed that their father looked pissed. He looks at his brother, Neteyam and noticed that he is injured. He knew where this is going so he just greeted his mother first, "Are you feeling alright Y/n?"
"I'm okay" he responded quietly and hugged his mother. Neytiri hugs him back and stroke his head, yesterday Y/n accidentally inhaled a black powder from opening a bullet in the armory. He coughed uncontrollably and had a hard time to breathe, luckily Norm and Jake was there.
Neytiri never hated those weapons more in her life and for sometime she was upset that they are raiding the sky people's weapon. As he was treated Neteyam and Lo'ak stayed beside him, Y/n was always their 'baby brother' since they were kids. Not only that, because of his white hair he was always picked on by other kids and his brothers are the one who always defended him.
After greeting his mother, Y/n stared at Neytiri and asked "Mother, when can I join you and dad? Also can I please try and seek my own ikran? I'll be careful.." Neytiri couldn't resist his son's pleading but she can't do much if her husband hasn't agree with it. "When the time comes you may, you know your father is very cautious of the sky people" "But what if my ikran comes by itself and friendly? Like Kiri" Neytiri chuckles "Your not Kiri, you are Y/n." She caress Y/n's cheek gently as he huffs in disappointment, then Tuk joined the conversation "What about me mommy?" "You know the answer Tuk" Neytiri said as she picked her up
Y/n looked at his brothers who were being scold by their dad, Y/n couldn't stand it anymore, it is always the same thing again and again. Lo'ak gets into trouble and Neteyam always tries to protect Lo'ak from their father's wrath. But this time their father keep on scolding them while Neteyam is injured. Finally Y/n speaks up "Neteyam is hurt." Jake looks at him "Yes. I am aware-" "then we should treat the wound" Y/n cuts him off. It was silence for a moment until Jake speaks again "Kiri, help with the wounded."
"My brother is also injured" Kiri said implying to what Y/n said earlier. "Father, I take full responsibility" Neteyam tried to ease his father's wrath but Jake responds back "Yes, because you are the oldest and you must behave accordingly." Y/n grabs his mother's hand and looked at her. Neytiri understood what he meant and finally speaks "Ma Jake, your son is bleeding"
"It doesn't matter, mother."
"Yes it does. It could get infected" said Y/n. Jake looks at him before looking at his wife. "Go in and get patched up" Neteyam was dismissed and the others went along with Kiri except Y/n.
Jake looks at Lo'ak "You must be aware that you almost had your brother killed. You are banned from flying for a month." Lo'ak stayed silent, accepting the punishment
Since the sky people invaded back Jake has been quite hard on his sons and Y/n being the youngest was also included. Despite that Y/n still can't venture out to the forest anymore since they have to go on hiding and he was forbid to go to the forest alone even though he was already old enough. Lo'ak and the others were allowed only until eclipse but Y/n was still not allowed. The worse part is that he never gets an explanation from Jake.
Y/n remembers the time back when he was younger his father was not this strict and he nevers get mad at them, "Look at me" Y/n was snapped back to reality. He looked around and Lo'ak was already gone.
Jake crouched down to look at his youngest son, Y/n slowly looks at him. He never spends anymore more time with his father as he grew older because Jake was so focused on Lo'ak and Neteyam. "So how are you feeling?" Jake asked, Y/n was surprised by the question "I'm fine.." was all he could say. He wanted to hear those words since yesterday but Jake left because there was a problem.
"Y/n...I know how much you want to be out there but we both that you're not ready yet" he said while looking at Y/n. Jake always knew deep down he can't keep him forever in the camp because Y/n was just as stubborn like him. This wasn't the first time Jake disscuss this with Y/n because he would always ask him if he has the chance. Y/n wanted to protest but he can't because he still respects his father.
Jake then stands up and began to walk away, Y/n looked back at his father and mustered up the courage to stop him. "Dad! Then can we please spend time together? I want to go out and explore....and I missed you" the last part was very quiet but Jake hears it. Jake thinks for a moment before looking back at Y/n, his eyes was not as grumpy as before. "Underneath the big old tree?" Y/n's ear perked up, he was happy that his father still remembers that place. Y/n nodded and Jake left to do his other work.
Y/n went inside the tent and as usual it was lively and noisy because mostly it was Neteyam hissing from the pain while their grandmother treat his wounds. "You alright Nete?" Y/n asked, "Never been better- ow!" he winced again. Kiri voiced her opinion about using Yalnabark to Mo'at but she reminded her who was the tashik here, Y/n knew that Kiri was going to be a great tashik one day, after witnessing her relationship with Eywa he couldn't help but be amazed by her. He sat beside Lo'ak and stroke his hand, although he was younger than Lo'ak, Y/n has always been there to comfort him. Lo'ak looks at him and leans his head on Y/n's shoulder.
Outside, Neytiri approached her lover "What is it" Jake asked. "Neteyam and Lo'ak try to live up to you. It's hard for them."
"I know" Jake answered
"And Y/n. You are hard on them." Neytiri added, "I'm their father. That's my job" he told her. Neytiri puts her hand on his shoulder and looked at him "This is not a squad. This is family" Her tone serious. Jake stops whatever he was doing and exhale for a moment "I thought we had lost him. It's the same feeling when Y/n had that accident and that memory replays on my mind"
Neytiri looks at him for a moment. It was a traumatic event for the family especially when Y/n was the youngest at that time. Neytiri cups his lovers face and makes him look her in the eyes, "Ma Jake. He is here, with us. Alive and safe, can't you see that?" "He was only four when that happend. If only I had been quicker on-" Neytiri interrupts him with a kiss which is something rare "Stop blaming yourself for something that you cannot prevent" Jake still blames himself with what happends to Y/n and just hours ago he almost lost his other sons.
Y/n's POV
The next day went just like I predicted. I was so stupid to think that it could come true. Dad has problems to take care of so he can't spend time with me. Again. I can only think positively that there would always be a next time or a next day. I was extremely sad and upset with him so I went inside my tent to make an accessory for Tuk, at first I felt fine when dad said that to me.
But then now I felt like someone that's.. not even there, useless compare to my older siblings. I wasn't strong like my brothers, or smart and special like Kiri or even as bright and joyful like Tuk... A tear suddenly dropped down from my eye without me even realizing, dad doesn't care how I feel. Am I really that weak?
Suddenly someone came into the tent, I quickly wipe my tears "Y/n are you crying?" It was Lo'ak...Shit, I forget he was grounded.
~~~
Y/n was silent for a while to calm down his feelings, "I was just upset the accessory didn't came out as I wanted" Lo'ak rolls his eyes "You'd never cry over something like that, are you having a bad day?" "I'm not having a bad day."
Lo'ak replied a bit mockingly "You suuuree? Is it because of you getting rejected by a girl again?" "Stop it Lo'ak. I don't like anyone" "So why are you crying?" Y/n looked back at him "I'm not!" "Woww getting defensive are we, yea....you were probably crying"
Y/n clenched his fist and throws the unfinished accessory to Lo'ak "Ow! That hurts you meanie..." "Leave me alone you skxawng!! I HATE YOU!" As much as Y/n loved his brother, sometimes he gets on his nerve "So what if I'm crying?! It's not your business!!" Y/n was shouting at this point and his eyes began to water again. Lo'ak realized that something was really hurting his baby brother. Out of instinct he hugged Y/n.
Y/n hits Lo'ak shoulder "Let me go! You idiot!" He tries to get away from Lo'ak hug but that plan quickly failed.
After calming down, Y/n felt his brother stroking his head trying to comfort him. It was something Y/n would always do to Neteyam and Lo'ak whenever they had a bad day. "It's because of dad isn't it?" Y/n stayed quiet. "Y/n listen to me your not weak" Lo'ak says but Y/n scoffs in response "I can't even defend myself from the bullies and I don't have any kind of freedom. If I'm not weak I could've joined you guys out there"
Lo'ak pulls away from Y/n and holds his shoulder. "Then how about we go an a little adventure?" Lo'ak was smiling at this point and Y/n knew he was up to something. ".....you mean like going out?" "Yeah, while your big brother is here let's go out and explore. I'll take you to our hideout!"
Y/n hesitates for a while, he was afraid Jake would get mad at him. "We'll be home before they'll be here, no one has to know" Y/n thinks for a while before saying "Alright. I haven't seen the forest for some quite time either"
Y/n can't believe this, he was really going out again into the wilderness. Lo'ak was leading them at front and Y/n was at the very back of the line as he was watching over Tuk. Honestly, Y/n didn't agree with her coming with them but everyone always loses with Tuk.
"Lo'ak, are you sure it's safe for Tuk to come with us?" Y/n said as he jumped from one root to another. "It's fine, there's me, Kiri and you"
"But why would you bring her in the first place?" Lo'ak turn to Y/n and Tuk "The honking princess. I'm gossiping. You must not go out to the battlefield. I'll tell mom if you don't take me." Lo'ak said mockingly and Tuk sticks her tongue out in response. "Come on guys! You're so slow" Spider said and they continue their little adventure.
After entering the forest, the others went along while Y/n stayed back for a while. It's been along time since he went into the forest and it was as beautiful as he imagined. He sees various types of plants and animal, and he can hear small chirps here and there, he even met his favorite animal the fan lizard. He slowly walked through the forest admiring everything. He then came across Kiri, sleeping on the forest ground.
He planned waking her up but he saw that she looked so peaceful. It was as if Eywa was with her, the ground around her beating as if it was alive. He decided to give her some time and went somewhere else.
As he went deeper he was stopped when a woodsprite approaching him.
Y/n smiles and overs his hand to it and as it landed on Y/n, his stripes glowed and he felt like a tingle resulting in him giggling. Another woodsprite came and land on his head and another.
His stripes glows even brighter and brighter, Y/n suddenly heard his name being called so he pulled away from the woodsprites and as he walks he saw the ground around him changed, it was full of flowers
"What the.."
"Y/n! Where are you?!" He heard Lo'ak shouted. He thought that maybe he just didn't noticed it before so he ran back to his siblings.
Time passes and they were walking back home when Lo'ak suddenly noticed something on the ground. Y/n looked over it and saw that it was like a na'vi footprint but different.
"We're always supposed to be home by eclipse" Tuk said commented
Lo'ak and Spider looks at the footprints again "Way too big for a human" "Avatars?" Spider asked. "Maybe, but they're sure not ours" they began to follow the footsteps "What are you doing?" Kiri asked. "Shh, I'm tracking" Y/n knew Lo'ak was going to follow it
"I don't think we should follow it" He said to them but none of his siblings listen to him. Lo'ak keeps on moving while the others follow.
Y/n sighs and grabs Tuk hand, hoping one of them would at least listen to him "Let's go home" "No! I also want to know" She refuses. Y/n turned to Kiri and saw her following the rest. Y/n had no choice but to follow his siblings since he wasn't familiar with the way home.
'Dad is going to kill me..' Y/n repeats those words in his mind
The atmosphere was quiet and no one dares to make a sound. Y/n immediately knew where this is was. He remebers their father warning them not to come here. Y/n was about to say something but Lo'ak covers his mouth and pointed in front of them. Y/n froze when saw avatars surrounding the old shack.
"Dad is going to ground you for life" Kiri whispered but Lo'ak just shushed her in response. "Bro, we've got to check this out, let's go" "Lo'ak no!" Y/n shout-whispered at him while grabbing his arms. Lo'ak looks back at Y/n, "We might need to report this to dad, me and Spider will go out so stay here" He answered whispering back. Y/n gave him a 'you serious' look and whispered back "I'm coming with you, if anything both of you are very stubborn" "sounds fair then, let's go" Spider said before going first silently
The three of them sneak from behind the bushes and trees to take a better look. "Bro, that's where your dad and my dad fought" Spider said and Lo'ak commented "That's your dad actual suit" "Holy shit..." both of them looked amazed
"Both of you are unbelievable.." Y/n mumbled grumpily. He saw the avatars going outside and talks to eachother about something. "Better call this in" Lo'ak said. "No bro, we're gonna get in trouble" Spider protest but Lo'ak just takes Y/n's hand and drags him along "Let's go"
Lo'ak immediately called Jake and the others we're listening while Y/n just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
Y/n then heard Lo'ak mentioning their names hesitantly "There's me, Spider, Kiri... Tuk-" Y/n looked at him dead in the eye hoping he wouldn't say his name but Lo'ak didn't seemed to get it
"-and Y/n" Lo'ak looks a bit scared talking to his father and admitting he brought Y/n who was not allowed to go. Y/n can't listen to his father's voice because he doesn't wear any device but then Kiri takes his hand and Tuk's as Lo'ak said "Yes sir, moving out."
"What did dad say Kiri?" Y/n asked. "Of course he told us to get out of here, it's dangerous" Kiri replied and added "Lo'ak is going to be in a lot of trouble and none of us can save him now"
Y/n looked at her "Believe me, I wish his ass get spanked by dad"
Y/n's POV
We immediately stand up and began to retreat. Kiri kept on saying to Lo'ak that he's going to be in so much trouble and hoenstly I agree. Tuk was running infront of us so I immediately catch up to her and grab her hand. "It's almost eclipse, come on" Tuk said and in a second I heard something near us and immediately pushes Tuk behind me as we keep walking.
I turn my head to the group "Lo'ak there's something-" Suddenly someone grabs me and pulled my tsaheylu causing me to scream. The avatar from before held me still so I can't move.
"Y/N!!" My siblings shouted for my name and just like that we were surrounded by the avatars before. Lo'ak and Spider immediately prepares to fight them but they were holding guns.
"Put it down! Or I'll shoot!" I hear one of them say. I tried to fight back the avatar that was holding me but she yanked me up the ground by my hair and held a knife to my throat "Drop it or he gets it!" All of my siblings looked at me and I saw Tuk crying.
"L-Lo" I managed to say while I was in pain. Lo'ak looked at the avatar holding me furiously and finally said "Drop it" Spider lowers down his weapon and they immediately take a hold of everyone and forced them to kneel down harshly. "Get down on the ground. Stop fighting" one of them said as they harshly grab on Kiri's hair. "Check them for weapons" "Kiri!" Everyone was screaming and my head is hurting.
I can't focus on anything, I look at Lo'ak who was treated roughly and Spider. Tuk was scared and crying as they did the same to her. I was also finally set on the ground but her grip was still the same, not letting go and tears rolled down from my eyes seeing my siblings in pain. Tuk was so frightened..
"Tuk.. Tuk calm down, it's alright Tuk" I say to Tuk hoping she would calm down but she saw me crying shouted my name's and Kiri's.
"Be calm" Kiri said to her suprisingly calm although I knew she was also hurting. The soldiers checked us for weapons. After that they gathered us in a circle, the avatar women still has her knife up to my throat so I can't struggle much.
Tuk was looking at me, "Look away Tuk" I said to her shakingly and she did. I prayed to Eywa that our parents can find us soon and I heard the leader speaks, I turn to look at Lo'ak and he was also looking at me. I could see guilt and worry in his eyes, all of us are held captive by some unknown avatars.
~~~ (There's a lot of hair pulling in this scene I don't even know why đ)
The colonel takes a look at the kids "What have we here?" He said and looked at Spider, probably confused to why there was a human but quickly shifted back it's focus on the others. One of them held Kiri's hand "Look, Colonel. Check it out. 5 fingers, We've got a half-breed" Kiri struggles and the avatar pulled on her head again.
He then turned to Lo'ak "Show me your fingers" Lo'ak looked back at him and raised his middle finger at him. Colonel only chuckles as he turned to Y/n. He sends a signal to his comrade and she lowers her knife from Y/n. "Would you look at this, a new hybird I suppose" Colonel said as he strokes Y/n's white hair. "You reminded me of someone.." he mumbled and Y/n stayed quiet. Eyes glaring at the Colonel as he reaches out and inspects Y/n's face left to right.
"You're his, aren't you?" He asked
Y/n tries to move his face away but the woman yanked his head upwards causing him to winced in pain. Lo'ak hissed at them "Don't touch him!"
He turns to Lo'ak amused. He walked towards him and grabs him by the hair, "Where is he?"
Lo'ak looks at him innocently "Unfortunately I don't speak english...with assholes"
Colonel answered him with a broken na'vi "Where is your father?" Clearly pissed. He pulled on Lo'ak's hair making him groan. Y/n's tail flicked left and right, scared that the soldier will do something to Lo'ak.
"Really? You wanna play it this way" He pulled out a knife and held it infront of Lo'ak.
Y/n's POV
"Don't harm him you fucker!" I shouted to him in english and he immediately stops. Lo'ak and Kiri stared at me before panicking.
He drops Lo'ak and approched me instead. "Y/n!" "No! Stop!" Kiri and Lo'ak shouted continously. "You seems to care for this little crybaby" He grab me from behind so I was facing Lo'ak and he inched the knife closer to my throat.
"Y/N!!"
I can feel the sharp edge piercing my skin. My siblings looked at me in horror and Lo'ak was fighting and pleading for him to stop.
"Hey! Hey! Don't hurt him please, stop it!" Spider shouted to the colonel and he got his attention. The colonel looked at him and drops me to the ground as I breathed out relieved.
"Whatâs your name kid?" He asked Spider
"Spider, Socorro" The colonel looked at him and asked him to be let go. He kneels infront of Spider and spoke out a name that I haven't even heard before "Miles?"
Spider looked at him with hatred "Nobody calls me that."
"I'll be damned. I figure they sent you back to Earth"
"Can't put babies in cryo dipshit." Spider replied and Colonel just looked at him as he stands up.
He uses his device and started to send coordinates about where we are. They pulled us up and force us to go back to the old shack.
They tied our hands and I was pushed to the ground beside Lo'ak. "What a freak" I hear one of them say. I completely stayed still, even though I've been hearing it for years it still bothers me in some way.
Lo'ak helps me sit up and hissed at them while they laughed. "You alright? Don't listen to them" He pulled me close and looked at my wound. "It's not that deep, I'm fine." I reassure him. His face was upset and sad so I just leaned on him. Sure the wound stings but it's bearable.
He held my hand, trying to comfort me. I was exhausted and my whole body ached at this point.
I heard an audio being played and they are pointing out it was dad and mom. I peeked over behind me and saw that they were watching a video of them battling. The colonel looked at me "Now I know why you're so familiar. A spitting image of your mother"
I hissed at him and turn away from them.
Hours passed by and the sun had already set. It was getting pretty dark. I was being held by the avatars when I suddenly hear a familiar calling. My ears perked up, trying to locate where the sound was. I look at Tuk and she seems to notice it too.
It was mom, I let out a small smile knowing that our parents are here. The others began to notice and stand on their ground on guard.
I saw that Kiri was praying to Eywa, the avatar told her to shut up but she didn't listen. But then in a flash the avatar that was holding her got shot in the head.
~~
The soldiers pushed away the kids and began to fire at Neytiri. Lo'ak triggers the smoke bom on the soldier and began to bite his way out of their grip. The others followed and as they began to run one of them grabbed Kiri's hair but got shot. Y/n was behind her and the colonel grip his hair, pulling him back as he fall.
"Lo'ak!" Y/n shouted in full panic. Lo'ak turned around and tries to go back for Y/n but Spider holds him back. "Lo'ak! Keep going!!" "LET GO! THEY HAVE Y/N!" "DON'T BE RECKLESS! JAKE AND NEYTIRI IS STILL THERE!" Spider shouted back at him. Lo'ak was conflicted but he knew that if he goes back the situation might get worse.
Quartich pulled Y/n beside him as he take cover. Y/n tried to run but Quartich wrapped his arm around him and reloaded his weapon. Y/n shouted in pain and his wound was pressed down. After he was done he covers Y/n's mouth to prevent him from making any noise and points his gun at him.
"Is that you, Mrs. Sully? I recognize your calling card!" Quartich shouted. Neytiri's breath hitched as she knew her son was being held by him. Quartich instructs one of the soldier to sneak around and kill Neytiri. Y/n tries to shout to warn his mom but his mouth was shut.
"Sh sh... don't want to ruin the surprise now do we?" Quartich said.
"Why don't you come on out Mrs. Sully? You seemed to drop one of your kids here. Why don't we have a little trade hm? Your son for our unfinished business."
Neytiri thinks for a while very carefully as she also ensures her other children are already at safety. She took a deep breath. Now she only have to save Y/n and kill the man holding her son.
"Demon! I will stop you as many times as I have to." She censored some of her words because she doesn't want Y/n to hear it.
"You and the corporal have been pretty busy haven't you? Got yourself a whole litter of half-breeds, I found one here looking exactly like his mother."
Quartich drags Y/n out of hiding. "Would be ashamed for this one to pass on early". Neytiri could hear Y/n muffled scream.
Y/n saw one of the soldiers pointing to where his mom were at and he started to trash around hoping his mother would noticed. As the soldier attempt to fire, an arrow suddenly shot him. Neteyam came in view.
Neytiri quickly shot quartich in the shoulder resulting his grip on Y/n to fall. Y/n quickly ran to where his mother were, he tried to go to Nete but the soldiers were in the way and he saw Jake pushing Neteyam out of the way.
"Mom!" Y/n shouted. Neytiri was not far up the branch above him. She quickly pulled Y/n up and began to run. As they were running, a rocket gun was fired at them, Neytiri and Y/n falls down to the ground but Neytiri quickly gets back up "Y/n! Get up!"
Y/n's ear was ringing but his mother pulled him up and they began to run again. They met Kiri who was shouting for Spider's name. Y/n looked down as saw he was hit, the soldiers were coming closer and Neytiri drag Kiri out from there.
Y/n was upset that Spider was taken from them. But that feeling soon was replaced with huge relief as he saw the rest. "Nete!" Y/n shouted as he ran to hug him. "Y/n! Are you okay?" Neteyam was looking for injury and saw that Y/n's neck had a cut. Neteyam looked at Lo'ak who were looking down. "I'm fine Nete" Y/n said as he looked at Kiri who were crying that Spider was taken
Y/n's POV
"Y/n." Dad called me, I looked up at him. His emotions were unreadable, I didn't know if he is upset or what. "Dad-"
Before I could finish talking he immediately noticed my neck "Don't talk, your wound might get worse" he said to me. I instinctively shut up and look down.. dad is probably mad at me after what I did. "I'm sorry" I whispered. He walked closer to me and pulled me into a hug. "There's no need to apologize I'm glad your safe"
I hugged him back and Tuk joined. Definitely was not expecting a hug but I could use some of that. After a while all of us went back to the camp. Mo'at was taking care of my wound when Tuk suddenly came inside
"Y/n, I think we are leaving"

I really love this fanart of Neytiri disguised as the people of the ashes while Spider is by his side with his clothes. I really hope that in Avatar 3 they show more interaction between them. I honestly loved how Neytiri seems to gently remove Spider's weapon while the two are together.
By the way, this drawing of Neytiri and Spider is not mine and the credits are not for me and by the way, right here I am also going to leave you the link of the creator of this beautiful drawing of Neytiri and Spider.

Taglist & Masterlist
You stared at your reflection in the clear blue pond, and you hated what you saw. The small eyes, the hair on your eyebrow bone, the five fingers. The familiar pang of hatred filled your chest and spread all over your body like a forest fire, burning you. You hated the Sky people's features your Avatar body had. You hated how you looked so different from your clan, your people.
âBro, you coming? Or are you too obsessed with yourself?â Loâak jokes from his place on a tree branch and Neyetam laughs at it. Right now you're tracking your Saânok for hunting practice with your Sempu and tsumkans.
âHey,â Jake scolds them, âstop messing around and get over here.â He continues further into the forest, light on his feet and not leaving a trail.
âYou heard the sergeant. Letâs go.â Loâak says mockingly and follows their Sempuâs path with Neteyam.
So you do what you do best and pretend that these feelings do not exist. Like they donât keep you up at night or creep into your mind when you're at peace. You pretend to be okay. You pick up your bow and arrows and slowly walk into the forest.
By now, there are not any signs of your family but you see the slight messing up of rocks that werenât there earlier. Even though youâre supposed to be tracking, you canât help but marvel at the beauty of Pandoraâs rainforest. The big lush green plants and canopy of towering trees surrounded them, the animals scurrying around them.
According to your birth parents, scientists turned warriors, back on Earth, tight spaces and skyscrapers were all that there was and most rainforests were either man-made or photos. Your parentsâŚyou missed them a lot. Every time you crossed a milestone, your mind wanders to them. What it wouldâve been like, should've been like.
You heard something, instantly snapping you out of your thoughts. Muscle memory makes you grab your bow and arrow, and silences your heart to better your hearing. You hear the crunching and rustling of leaves from two different directions.
You slowly walk to a vantage spot where you can see both of the animals. Or ambushers. You ready your bow and take aim at the spot. You speak with a clear and loud voice, âWhoever you are here, come out right now.â In case it wasnât an animal.
You waited but silence greeted you, and it stretches to the point where you wondered if you was imagining it from being on edge. But the sound of soft snickers hit your ears and you tried to not growl in annoyance. It wasnât the deep voice of your Sempu nor the soft one of your Saânok.
âLoâak, I know that it is you,â you grumble and put your arrows back into the satchel. Lo and behold your tsumkan pop out from the bushes along with your Sempu, surprisingly.
You tilt your head to the side in confusion, âI expected this from Loâak, but you Sempu?â
Your Sempu gives you a teasing smirk and shrugs, âMade for a good test on your reflects.â He comes closer and put his warm hands on your shoulders. âYou passed, good job ma âitan. Now letâs go back, your Saânok and Neteyam are already there.â
You walk back to High Camp. It was more a fortress than a village since the Sky people came back with their war and destruction. Led to a massive forest fire, many older Naâvi said it was reminiscent of the destruction of Hometree. Thatâs when the side eyes and comments began.
âIt was totally so he can sneak up on you, dude. Shoulda saw the pout he had when you called our buff.â Loâak informs you, slinging an arm on your shoulder as the both of you stroll back to camp.
The walk was mostly silent, each lost in their own world. But you could feel something was off with your tsmukan. He kept biting his lips and not so sneaky glancing his way before hastily avoiding eye contact whenever your eyes met.
Fed up with this, you abruptly stopped the walk and asked, âOkay, whatâs with the looks you keep giving me?â
âThe better question, is whatâs with you?â He asked accusingly with his arms crossed around his torso. If your heart wasnât thundering inside of your chest from nervousness, you wouldâve commented on how much he resembles your Sempu.
âWith me? Lo-â You tried to deflect but Loâak wasnât fooled.
âDon't give me that bullshit, dude. It may work with our parents but not with me.â He pressed on, backing you into a corner, literally and metaphorically.
âIâm fine, okay. Just drop it, you wonât understand,â you say in irritation, fed up with your tsmukan usual pesky persistence.
Maybe Loâak would understand. The accusing stares whenever they walked around the camp. People became bolder when you weren't with your parents about their distaste for your existence. But maybe at the same time, he wouldn't.
He was Naâvi, more than you ever would be, and his hairy eyebrows and five fingers will never take that away. No one can ever take that away. With you it was different, you was like Jake, an Avatar, a sky person, a demon. And unlike Jake, you did not prove yourself worthy of being there, your parents did.
You were allowed to stay because your parents, brilliant and brave scientists, gave their lives to protect the Naâvi. And Jake is the Toruk Makto, they canât deny him.
But they can deny you.
âDude, hello?â Loâak shakes you out of your thoughts. âYouâve been really in your head lately. So something must be wrong. Câmon, you can talk to me.â
âPlease, Loâak, just drop it.â You hang your head in shame.
How can you be a good chief if you canât even reassure your own little tsumkan? Bet Neteyam never has to do that.
Thankfully, Loâak does drop his questions and you make it back to dinner just in time. Saânok and Sempu were setting the plates on the table while Tuk was talking Kiriâs ears off again.
âThat was a long walk,â Kiri notes, looking them up and down with suspicion in her eyes.
âAt least they are back before Eclipse. Saânok and Sempu wouldâve had you guysâ headsâ, Neteyam jokes.
âYea,â Tuk, ever the annoying little sister peers up at the two, âwhat were you two doing?â
You made note of your parents' ears tilting in their direction, yet they made no move to ask either of their sons. He had to be careful in his answer.
âWhy are you guys so nosy?! Itâs bad enough we gotta share a room,â Loâak huffs in bitterness. Made sense, he was a frequent victim of Tukâs âjumping on you for my enjoymentâ attacks.
Sitting down next to your Sempu, you answer, âWe were just talking about guy stuff.â
Instantly, Kiri and Tuk became disinterested and began eating their food. Neteyam was only half-listening to the conversation. Too hungry to care or tease his tsmukes. This however got the attention of your parents though.
âWhat exactly was said?â Jake presses on, a glimmer of mirth in his eyes. You could see a slight smirk forming on Netyiriâs face as she chewed her food.
âSempu,â you looked tiredly at him after realizing that this was just a joke for their suffering. Sometimes parents can be so cruel.
After dinner, you headed out to practice your aim some more. It wasnât really practiced but more of a way to keep your mind from wandering to those thoughts. Those ugly thoughts drowned you and took away your air.
âAre you going out again?â Your Saânok questioned looking at your bow and arrows in hand. When you nod, she shakes her head and tsk. âYou have been practicing too much lately. Go take a break, now.â
âBut Saânok-â
âNo.â She takes the weapons from your hands. âYou can go out on your ikran but no training.â
âOh, youâre going out,â Loâak comes out, looking suspicious. Almost like this was planned. âMind if I go with?â
This was clearly a setup with Loâakâs terrible acting. Despite this, you nod and mount your ikran.
You remembered when you made the bond with (ikran/name), there were many times when you felt like you would die. But you made the bond and took off with your ikran. For a whole month, your Sempu bragged about how his amazing son broke his record. The Toruk Matkoâs record.
The memory warmed your but immediately grew cold. You canât help but recount some of the looks of the older Naâvi. They did not look proud or delighted, more like with irritation and disbelief. The same Naâvi, however, wore a look of pride when Neteyam got his ikran. When Sempu bragged about Neteyam.
It was then you saw the differences in how you, Kiri, and Loâak were treated when compared to Neteyam and Tuk. And it was clear as day as to why.
âRioe is such a bitch,â Loâak groaned. He flew his ikran closer to mine and gestured widely with his hands.
Your brother goes on to vibrantly describe what Rioe Te Rewui Rärä'ite said to him and how they got into their daily arguments. This Rioe girl has been bothering Kiri for a while about her non-Naâvi features and then when Kiri, in true Kiri fashion, didnât give her the satisfaction, Rioe turned her eyes on Loâak. Who would gladly return the fire, with zero hesitation.
You give your tsmukan the same advice youâve always given him. Go tell your parents to clear this whole thing up. But like always he refuses the advice with pride. So much like Sempu wouldâve done.
âReally? You're not gonna ask for help because of your pride? Talk about shallow.â
Loâak gives you a side-eye that can rival Neteyamâs. âYou're a real hypocrite. I hope you know that.â He flew his ikran higher into the sky with annoyance. The sky was cool against your face and the stars were beautiful tonight. Clouds were sparse.
You guide your ikran to follow after him, so close that the creatures nearly touch and give soft growls in response. Clearly sensing the growing irritation of both their owners. âWe are talking about you, not me.â
âWell, maybe we should talk about you. You seem...to be yâknow,â he falters a bit and doesnât finish his sentence. Clearly at loss on how to say whatever he wants to.
You both fall into an uncomfortable silence that doesnât often happen with you guys. Mostly because there was never silence, always talking or laughing, frequently both.
Loâak was the first to break the silence, his voice soft but verging on breaking, âWe used to tell each other everything. And now, you tell me nothing.â
You sit with that information. Replaying it in your head, latching on to each word, and dissecting it. He was right. You donât tell him much or anything anymore. You didnât even notice it, you canât even pinpoint when you stopped telling him.
And like a coward, you couldnât even raise your head to tell him you were sorry for it.
âLots has been on my mind, Loâ. I am sorry though,â you deflect instead. âEywa, the sky is-â
âDonâtâ, his voice is low and agitated. âYou are suffering. And you wonât let anyone in. Why?â He demanded of you.
âThisâŚthis is just different, Loâak. I donât know, but it feels different, and I donât think youâll get it.â You said all of this without even the courtesy of looking into his eyes.
You heard him scoff at your flimsy excuse and heard the flapping of wings. You looked up to see his figure getting smaller and smaller as he headed back home.
You slowly exhaled and inhaled to calm your nerves. You knew that this was a setup to get you to talk, and you knew that it would end badly. But you didnât think itâll end this badly. When it comes to Loâak, if he walks, or flies away in this case, you and he are not on speaking terms. Just what you needed.
The tension between you and Loâak was present even though you tried your hardest to be normal about it. But it was hard to when he would stubbornly refuse to interact with you, for even the smallest of things.
Like you would ask him to pass your knife and heâd tell Tuk to do it and leave. It was rather aggravating but two can play this game.
âOkay, so now you take the knife and slice it through here, slowly, Loâak,â Saânok instructed.
Right now, Neytiri was teaching them to cut the meat they just caught from their hunt. The game was in the middle and all of us were in a circle surrounding it.
Loâak was cutting into the side of a Yerik, and he was obviously struggling. The cut wasnât clean straight down, instead, there were jagged lines from his continuous stopping and starting. It was a sad sight to see, honestly.
âOh, Eywa, how could he be this bad?â Kiri whispered to you, causing you to snicker. He really was horrendous at it.
âCome hold this done for your tsmukan,â Saânok ordered you. From the way her eyes were fixated on yours, this was something you could not refuse.
So you got up and slowly walked towards Loâak. His displeasure with what was happening was evident in the way his jaw tensed and the increased gripe on the hunting knife. But he didn't verbalize it, fearing the wrath of Neytiri.
You both worked together, you holding down the animal and Loâak cutting it. The silence was uneasy and made the time drag slowly like a snail.
âYâknow, if you would just tell me-â Loâak began to whisper. You cut him off with a deadly look, you were tired of having this same endless conversation with him.
âNo, and acting like a child because I wonât tell you will not get me to tell you.â You growled at him.
He huffed and kept quiet after that. You caught Saânok looking at you both in the corner of your eye, and you had no doubt that she saw and heard that entire exchange. Just great, another person on your case.
After the lesson, Saânok pulled you both aside for a âchatâ. There you sat in front of her, it was terrifying, I mean who wouldnât be terrified at being stared down by their Saânok? But this was Neytiri we were talking about here. A fierce warrior in her own right and the dead silence with prolonged eye contact made you unnerved.
âWell?â She asked, leaning against a tree. We were a far way from our home, in the jungle. Little creatures ran across the ground and the wind flowing provided some breeze to cool you down. Unfortunately, it couldnât calm your heart. You felt trapped, and itâs funny because all of the walls you built to keep your family out are coming down. And you feel trapped because of it. Isnât that ironic?
âWe just had a disagreement, Saânu,â Loâak lied through his teeth easily. Maintained eye contact and didnât think too hard about his answer, but that wouldnât fool Neytiri.
âTry again, Loâak,â she replied, âand try to not lie to me this time. You two are close and now suddenly, you treat each other like strangers. Something is wrong and you refuse to talk about it. So talk, now.â She got up from her spot and climbed the tree with expertise. She went up far so that she wouldnât us but not too far so she could see if we tried to run.
âHave I done something wrong?â Loâak asked. It was..it was unlike his previous questions, full of accusations of mistrust. âWe used to go to each other for anything, everything. And now you shut me out. You shut everyone out, (Y/N).â
âBut, Loâak you wouldnât get itâŚâ, you protest weakly, you donât even believe the words coming out of your mouth. At least you donât fully believe them, you just say them hoping theyâll work. They never do.
He scoffs at this and narrows his eyes at you, âYou keep saying that. I wonât understand this, I wonât understand that. But you never tell me what Iâm not understanding so just tell me. Tell me so I can understand and help you, tsumkan.â
âYou canât, Loâak! You canât help me with this, no one can help me with this but myself. Itâs like you said, âIf go to our parents then what does say about me?â And I know what your gonna say, hypocrite, and your right I am one. But this issue...itâsâŚitâs more than just bullying or alienating. Itâs different, and I donât think anyone can fix it but me. Besides, how can I lead our people if I cannot handle this on my own?â You argued against him, frustration swells into your chest. This argument is going nowhere at all.
âGah, you skxawng! Why do you act like being the Oloâeyktan means that you would be alone with all of the clan duties on your back! Sempu gets a lot of help, heâs never alone. So why do you assume you would be? That makes no freaking sense and we both know it!â He screams at you, becoming louder and louder with every word.
You didn't realize either of you weas moving until your back came against the tree. Just great, you were trapped yet again.
Loâakâs face crumbles and the anger he exhibited earlier is gone. âI just want to help my tsmukan, that is all I want to do. I see that you are hurting, and it might not be exactly the same way, but the reason is the same, right? Because we are not full Naâvi.â He chuckles dryly looking at his hands, his five-finger hands. âBecause we are part Demon, right?â
Your head hangs low in shame, âYea, it is. But like I said, Loâak, I got this. You don't gotta worry, okay.â
But despite the smile you plastered onto your face, you didn't believe a word you said. And honestly, you got the feeling neither did Loâak.
Like, reblog, or comment if you wish. See ya in the next one, friends.
Reminder: My asks, suggestions, and requests are all open so don't be afraid to pop in.

âJake is a bad father.â
Iâm gonna need yaâll to understand that just because a character is considered a âgood guy/heroâ does not necessarily mean you should be applying modern real life moral values to them. Jake is born 100+ years in the future, heâs on a completely different planet, him and his family are a different species than us, heâs apart of a completely different culture, he exists in a different social climate, he is at war, and they are fictional. Contextually all this information is so important because it tells us none of these people (no matter how moral or ethical or lawfully good) are not going to perceive what is ârightâ the same way we are. Because the world that teaches them what ârightâ and âwrongâ are, is a very different world than the one we know. Automatically assuming that a fictional character that doesnât do exactly what you think they should do is inherently wrong, lacks serious media literacy and basic understanding of fiction as a genre.
#they are meant to be complex individuals in a sci-fi story not 2023 irl parents tf are yaâll on#it is also important to remember that jake and neytiri have been parents for 14-15 years and we have no idea what happened during that time#it is also implied that jake only started parenting this way when his children were almost getting themselves killed repeatedly#in the opening train attack scene people DIED because loâak and neteyam were on the ground instead of spotting the incoming chopper#considering there was actual loss of life directly caused by his sonâs actions he was absolutely not too hard on them#I donât like that he makes them call him sir but in the middle of a battle acting like a commander instead of a dad could save their lives#once they are not in the middle of a battle anymore I would also like for Jake to be more gentle#but that is easier said than done because once again they are AT WAR it literally changes everything#honestly the most problematic part of jakeâs parenting imo is that he has a nuclear family mentality instead of a community family mentality#and the reason i take issue with that is because contextually someone whoâs lead a tribe for 15 years simply would not think that way#how who when why where are important aspects to consider when analyzing media#avatar james cameron#jake sully#sully family#neytiri#atwow spoilers#atwow#neytiri x jake#loâak#neyteyam#kiri sully#tuk sully

Mama's boy
Pair: Jake x neytiri x human reader (trio couple) x sully children's
Warning: none, lo'ak being a sweet little potato for is mama. Sweet family moment.
Request: (anon) You were incredible in these new chapters, if it wasn't much, I would have been able to do a trisal story about Jake, neitiry and reader human where she has 2 more hybrid children (half human,Half na'vi)..
Note: I have always believed that avatars may be able to reproduce with humans. Both males and females. Since there are human traits in their DNA. So both jake and his children could reproduce with any human. That is my theory.
AVATAR MASTERLIST | Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6(final)
You loved days like this, it was a fresh and calm day in the jungle of Pandora. No one in the family had anything important to do. Just relax and spend time together. If anyone had told you that in a few years you were going to be sitting quietly on the floor of your home. With your son on your lap, while playing with one of his toys. With such loving partners, you wouldn't have believed them. And you had a good point for not believing. Neytiri and Jake were your mates, while you were human. The only human who was mated to two na'vi. The only human who had given birth to a na'vi baby, naturally.
Lo'ak had been born as a na'vi. With his distinctive braid, tail, skin color, ears etc. Just like his father, jake. But his human features were always there, he inherited your hands, some facial features that made him different from his siblings. Like kiri, they were a mixture of human and na'vi. This was not important to you, in your family these differences were not important and everyone was treated equally.
Neytiri was running around in circles playing with kiri, while neteyam was playing with jake. Meanwhile lo'ak was sitting very comfortably on your lap. Sucking his little finger, while you cuddled him. He was very peaceful, wellâŚwhen he was with you. The bond that lo'ak had with you was very strong, he needed his mommy with him all the time. Neteyam and kiri were more active, while lo'ak preferred to be by your side. You tried to keep him away from you, so that he would become more independent. But it was all in vain, even mo'at herself told you that this was normal. That eventually he would become more independent, but he was already 5 years old, and he didn't seem to improve. Of course, this never bothered you⌠lo'ak became your own tail. Always behind you. Lo'ak could be with neytiri, about 3 to 5 hours. But then he would cry for you to hold him, and it was the same with jake. Lo'ak just wanted to be with you.
Neteyam ran to you, hugging you. The boy was about your size, but you didn't care. Hugging him back, to give him lots of kisses on his cheeks. Neteyam didn't notice but pushed lo'ak off your lap, causing the boy to fall to the ground. "mama⌠I want to be with you" says neteyam, now sitting where lo'ak once was. Lo'ak immediately began to cry. It was a very big and exaggerated whine. "Calm loveâŚneteyam needs to be with me too" you try to calm him down, but you could barely touch him. Because neteyam was curled up on your chest. Neytiri comes closer, taking lo'ak in her arms to calm him down.
After a long six minutes, lo'ak calms down. But you can see how the child looks down from above, on Neytiri's shoulder. His eyes were watery and he was pouting. You try to ignore him, he has to learn that you were not only from him. Neteyam was also your son, as was Kiri. And they too demanded your attention. Kiri approaches his younger brother, hopping from neytiri's feet. "You're a mama's boy⌠an ugly, crying baby," Kiri says jokingly. Neytiri scolds her, while you and jake couldn't hold in the laughter. It was funny, but you take Kiri by the arm. Sitting her down next to you.
"KiriâŚthat's not right, lo'ak is special. He needs a lot of love" says neytiri holding the child in her arms, hoping he doesn't start crying. "NoâŚmama is mine!!!!" says neteyam, hugging your neck more. Lo'ak whimpers, lifting his head from neytiri's shoulder. "Noooo mama is mine" shouts lo'ak.
"No!!!, only mine!!!" neteyam yells back, sticking out his tongue. This makes lo'ak upset, and he starts to cry. "nooo mama!!!! Let go of neteyam!!!!! Mama let go of me, I want to go on the floor" lo'ak is crying, while neytiri giggles a little. It's adorable to watch as the two children fight for your attention. Jake gets up from the floor, walking to your direction and taking neteyam from your lap. To now lay him down on the floor. Kneeling on the floor to carry you in his arms, bridal style. You laugh, as the children begin to whine.
"Technically, your mom is all mine" jake says, sticking his tongue out at his kids, reaching over to give you a kiss on your forehead. Watching as they start to whine. Neytiri was giggling, while now all the kids wanted her to carry them to keep up with jake. "WellâŚI'd say I'm more Neytiri's than yours" you say, reaching up to give him a kiss on the tip of his nose. (Y/N is wearing the oxygen mask I'm always mentioning, "click here" to learn more about it) Neytiti lets out a loud laugh, you could see her cheeks turn purple. Neytiri had a soft spot for you. Jake lets out a sigh of surrender and hugs you tighter. Leaving kisses on your neck, while you laugh.
In the evening, everyone was settled in their respective hammocks. You were finishing getting Kiri settled, while Jake put the boys to bed. After a while, you lay down in your own hammock, you were tired. You were about to go to sleep, when you feel little hands touching your arm. You open your eyes, finding lo'ak's little face. The child had his arms outstretched for you to carry him. Laughing a little, you hold the child. And settle him on your chest. Snuggling him with your arms, giving him lots of kisses on the crown of his head. "My beautiful babyâŚyou are sad" you lullaby to lo'ak. He only responds with a "hmmm" and falls asleep in your arms.
Jake comes up to you one last time, to check that all was well. As he approaches, he notices how you and lo'ak were cuddling. "I imagined he was with you," Jake said softly. Leaning in to give you a kiss on the tip of your nose. "Well⌠you know what he's like" you joke. "He's a mama's boyâŚa cute mama's boy. You knowâŚ" jake pauses, thinking about how he was going to say what he was going to say next. "Eventually you'll have to let him grow upâŚkids his age are more independent and " jake is interrupted, when one of your hands goes to his mouth. "Shhh shut upâŚwhen it's time, he'll grow up on his ownâŚin the meantime we'll be here for him." you speak, slapping jake's arm playfully. There was a small silence, until you see a playful smile on Jake's lips.
"BabeâŚwhy don't you leave lo'ak here quietly and come sleep with me and neytiri" jake takes your hand and gives it a kiss on the palm, causing you to giggle and blush. "TogetherâŚthe three of us" jake jokes biting your fingers. You laugh softly, trying not to wake lo'ak. You think about it for a moment, and the truth is you missed sleeping with jake and neytiri. Lo'ak consumed too much of your time, so you accept Jake's offer. You carefully settled lo'ak down, making sure he was comfortable.
Jake was behind you, excited. You could hear his tail bump between his legs. He held your hand, walking quickly to the hammock that you and Jake and Neytiri usually shared. Neytiri watches as you and Jake approach. She gets excited, it had been about 3 months since you last slept with them. Reaching out her hand, she takes yours. You climb in easily, feeling Jake hold you around the waist. Both of you settling into the hammock. You were in the middle of them, neytiri hugged you. While Jake hugs you from behind, burying his head in the back of your neck. "I missed this," says neytiri, enjoying the comfort. A couple of minutes later, lo'ak's crying began to be heard. You lift your head from neytiri's chest, beginning to stand up. When you feel her hug you tighter. "No⌠Y/N you must let him calm down himself" neytiri says. "Y/N, neytiri is right" jake speaks.
"He ate, he's clean and he's comfortable. He can be alone" says neytiri, she was serious. You knew you had to leave him alone, but lo'ak was your baby. Your only baby. "If he doesn't stop crying in five minutes, I'll go check on him. You stay here and rest," Jake speaks, kissing your shoulder. Your partner had you in his arms, if it wasn't for that you'd be at lo'ak's side by now. And as if by magic, lo'ak stopped crying. Jake got out of the hammock and checked from afar. Seeing how the child had already fallen asleep.
"SeeâŚit's all right," says Neytiri, hugging you even tighter. You snuggle closer to her. As you feel jake settle in behind you. Hugging you both. This parenting thing was all new to all of you.

ââââ
Your birth was viewed as a new beginning, of sorts. The Omatikaya had gone through so much loss, so much pain in the years that the Sky People had inhabited their planet and planned to make it their own, in hopes of replacing their dying Earth with the beautiful and brutal Pandora. Many Omatikaya had lost their lives as a result of the humans greediness, leaving many orphaned and physically scarred from the destruction they caused. It was hard to see a bright future with the humans constantly taking and taking from the People and the planet they resided on. But, it seemed to get a little bit brighter once Jake Sully, the great and mighty Toruk Makto, had lead the clans to victory against the Sky People in the Great Battle. The humans had no choice but to leave the planet, finally allowing a peaceful and bright future to form itself for the Omatikaya and the rest of the Naâvi living on Pandora. Many celebrations were held in thanks to Toruk Maktoâs as well as in triumph for the humans finally leaving their home after thirty years. But another one was celebrated after it was announced that Neytiri te Tsahka Moâatâite was with child, marking a new era for those who were succeeded after the Great Battle. You were the new stepping stone for the bright future of the Omatikaya. An omen of good fortune to come to all of Pandora.
Being the eldest child of Toruk Makto had been difficult, especially growing up. Much was expected of you, duties upon duties being put onto your shoulders from such an early age. You had to live up to such high expectations, something that came with being the first child of Jake Sully, a once Dreamwalker, and the clans most fiercest warrior, Neytiri. Constantly training to one day stand in front of your people and be recognized not just as Toruk Maktoâs kid but as their leader as well. Although you had the typical features a regular Naâvi should have, four fingers on each hand and no traces of hair on your brow bones, children are still cruel. They constantly called you names that most definitely shouldnât be repeated, pulled on your tail and hair, spit at you, told you that youâd never be good enough to be clan leader one day, and bothered you during your trainings. Youâd cry to your Saânok about it once you came home from training, sniffling into her neck as you repeated the awful things kids your age said to you. And even with your parents butting in and demanding the children to stop, you couldnât help but believe the words they uttered, plagued by the possibility of them being right. So, you pushed and pushed yourself to be the best you could be. Spending whatever free time you had from archery training in your Grandmotherâs tent, eager to learn what every herb did and what technique she used when applying paste onto an injured Naâvi, watching her every move. And spending whatever free time you had from that practicing your tracking skills. You did a lot to prove yourself and tried your best to look unfazed by the little amount of sleep you received daily. But as the words that you and your family had to potentially leave your home and clan, everything that you knew, spilled from your Sempulâs mouth, the only thought that came to your mind was Was it all not enough?
Adjusting to your new life at Awaâatlu was extremely difficult. You were a foreigner in a foreign place and your title meant nothing to these people. Sure you earned a little respect and street cred from being the eldest child of the Toruk Makto, but it still wasnât enough to earn you place amongst the Metkayina. So, once again, you trained and trained until your muscles felt utterly useless from the amount you swam and your lungs felt numb from continuous breath holding. But, as every day passed and the sun rose in signal for a new start, you slowly got the grasp of the way of the water. And you actually found yourself relaxing in the oceans water as you silently floated there once you were excused from your training, a small smile on your face. It was nice to finally relax for once, the feeling a bit foreign to you. Back home, you never got a chance to relax, always busy with pleasing your parents and everyone else in the clan, leaving you without any room to simply breathe. The whole thing kind of felt like a vacation almost. No longer having this weight on your shoulders to become the next clan leader and live up to your clans expectations of you. That is, until the humans find your family in the one place you were supposed to be safe.
You grew up with the stories of the Sky People and their selfishness, how quick they were to claim something that wasnât theirs and how quick they were to fight over it, not caring for the blood that they spilled in the process. Growing up, youâd have nightmares about the humans coming back to Pandora and slaughtering the ones you loved right in front of you, not being able to move quick enough to stop them. Your Sempul often pulled you into his arms and rocked you in comfort, trying to whisper sweet nothings into your ear as you fell asleep in his hold. Heâd then lay you back down in between himself and Neytiri, placing a soft kiss onto the crown of your head before quickly falling asleep as well. As you aged, they became few and far in between, dreaming of flying your beloved ikran or messing around with your youngest siblings. But once the humans returned to Pandora a year before leaving for Awaâatlu, the came back in full force. Your family were awaken many nights by your crying or screaming, rousing you from your sleep to comfort you, sobbing into their gentle hold as the dream kept repeating in your minds eye. You were terrified of having your family be taken away from you and, perhaps, thatâs where your fear of disappointment came from and not the cruel children you had encountered early on in your life. You wanted to be a protector and protect the ones you loved, and protect you did.
The sting of the salt water is what drew your attention to the middle of your aching chest, looking down to witness the crimson red leak from your body and mix itself into the clear water you were submerged in. You hadnât even realized you were shot in the process of jumping into safety, barely even processing the whizzing bullets flying passed you as you dived feet first into the water. All you were focused on was getting your little tsmukans, Neteyam and Loâak, to safety during their mission to rescue their human friend, Spider. Your personal safety was the last thing on your mind, demanding that your brothers and Spider go first jumping into the moon pool, shooting back at the fake Avatars. There werenât many times where you saved your brothers asses from the things they managed to get themselves into, that job being put onto Neteyam by your parents. So, this being one of the only times that you saved both of their asses and were going to die as a result, put a gentle smile on your face. At least I would go out protecting those you cared about, you thought to yourself.
Your struggle was noticed by Neteyam, halting him in his celebrations with Loâak and Spider. âAre you alright, tsmuktu?â He asked, making his way towards you as he glided through the water. His eyes didnât clock in on your hand over your chest yet, too busy watching you nearly drown as you struggled to keep your head above water. It was as if once you registered that you were shot, your body began to shut down at the realization. Your once strong legs forged by the oceans unpredictable current were now struggling to keep yourself up and lazily kicking, your left arm desperately trying to make up for your legs inability to work at the moment, making crazed movements underneath the water to stay upright. You lungs and chest also burned, not accepting any of the air you tried to suck in from above the waters surface. âIâve been shot, skxawng,â you uttered, spitting out the water that managed to make its way into your agape mouth. Everything burned, even within the oceans cool water.
 âFuck,â Neteyam whispered, grabbing the arm that wasnât covering the open wound in your chest and wrapping it around his shoulder, trying not to openly sob at your cries of protest in pain. It was now Loâakâs turn to notice your current state. He tensed at your cry and found himself praying to the Great Mother that it wasnât what he thought it was. Neteyamâs following statement only solidified his fear, â(Y/N)âs been shot! Help me get them up!â. Both the brothers and Spider helped you up onto the back of Loâakâs ilu, Neteyam settling himself behind you as Spider gripped onto the side of the iluâs saddle. The four of you raced to the nearest piece of rock that was in direct eyesight, Loâak calling out to your Father once he notices him atop the rock they were aiming for. Fear had instilled itself into the younger Sully brothers, hoping that whatever was happening was not the last time you would take a breath.
âWatch their head, bro!â Loâak called out against the crashing waves, rocking his, and everyoneâs elseâs, body up against the jagged rock they were trying to hoist you up on to. You coughed up a mouthful of water in response, gasping for air once the wave that splashed you pulled back and granted you air. âWhat happened?â Jake hurriedly asks, pulling your body into his arms before gently setting you down onto the rough surface of the rock. He swiftly moves you to your side to assess if whether or not the bullet that pierced you also came out the other side. His heart dropped once he saw the exit wound, even more of your blood gushing out from it. Jake could only close his eyes as he gently shifted you back onto your back, dread making its way up his stomach and into his heart. Jake had witnessed a many of deaths during his time in the marines on Earth. And although he had gotten used to the feeling those deaths gave him, nothing wouldâve ever prepared him for the feeling of losing one of his children before his time. Jake found himself thinking of his twin brother, Tommy, at this time, wondering if his death had been like yours, painful, or had been quick and peaceful. Jake quickly shook his head at the thoughts. This is no time to think of your late brother, Jake, he thought. Your child needs you.
 âIs-Are they going to be okay?â Spider asked, keeping his distance from Jake and the rest, guilt crawling up his chest and settling into his throat. He tried to gulp down the feeling, but that seemed to only make it worse. No one answers the human boy, too occupied with their dying loved one in front of them. You never made an effort in befriending the boy, your Mother influencing your thoughts on the boy as well as being too terrified to. If all Sky People are said to be what your Mother told you as a child, then you didnât want to interact with one. But, as you lay dying on the small piece of rock, you couldnât help but feel bad for not giving the kid a try. One conversation wouldnât have hurted, right?
Neteyam had put both of his hands over the wound in your chest, as demanded by your Father, in order to slow the blood from further oozing out. âYouâre gonna be okay, okay?â Neteyam comforted, although it seemed to be more directed to himself than you, âYou have to be. Youâre my big tsmuktu. Youâre invincible.â. Neteyamâs words only caused more tears to leak out from your eyes. You hadnât even known you were crying. Whether from the pain or the realization that you were, in fact, dying, you did not know. Neteyam always looked up to you growing up. Although you were only a year older, he still viewed you as his role model. You carried yourself with such grace and confidence, he often found himself trying to memorize your strides and how you pulled back a bow effortlessly, practicing what he could remember whenever he was alone, desperate to be just like his older sibling. As the both of you grew older and drifted apart, he still viewed you as someone to look up to and strive to be like. A much younger Neteyam also viewed you as invincible, untouchable by the bad things that lurked within the depths of the dark corners of Pandora. And now, as a teen, he still viewed you as invincible. Even as you lay bleeding out in front of him, he still thinks you are because you protected him and Loâak and Spider from the soldiers on the ship. You gave up your life for him, and for that, he doesnât know what to do with it.
   âYou still have to finish that bracelet for me, (Y/N),â Loâak sobbed out, grasping your free hand into his as he knelt in front of you, next to Neteyam. You only shakingly smiled at your brother, trying your best at squeezing his hand in response, but your fingers only gently fluttered at the attempt. You had begun to weave a bracelet for your youngest brother the night after he was abandoned at the Three Brothers, hoping to cheer him up from the hurtful words your Father spewed at him. You were never a good weaver so it took longer than expected, even with the help of your tsmuke, Kiri. Upon hearing of your struggle from the complaints of Kiri, Loâak felt warmed at the nice gesture you were doing. Growing up, Loâak always loved the things you made, even if they were a total disaster and halfway down. He still cherished them in his heart. He often found himself âaccidentallyâ breaking a bracelet he or someone else made and asking you to fix it for him or make him another one, excitedly waiting behind you as you did so, tail furiously wagging behind him in joy at his successful attempt at getting you to make him another bracelet of your creation. You pretended to not notice Loâakâs continuous purposeful breaking of handmade bracelets he received, happy to make him another one. It made you feel wanted and useful, especially if you had another encounter with one of the child bullies within your clan that day.
âD-DadâŚâ You weakly called out, turning your head and gaze towards your Father. Tears were running down his eyes as his gaze shifted back onto you, smiling down at you the best he could, putting on a front so you wouldnât worry. âYes, angel?â He asked, taking your right hand into his large ones, resting it against his cheek in hopes of comforting you. âI-I did it. Y-yeah? I pro-protected them, D-Daddy. I tried. R-re-really hard. I did. Got th-then t-to safety,â you responded, struggle evident in your voice as you stuttered over your words. Thatâs all you wanted to do back on that ship. Protect your brothers and get them to safety. You were glad to have achieved your goal, but at what cost? You were only sixteen years old and had so much ahead of you. Even before being forced to leave your home clan, you dreamt of becoming a fierce warrior and leader for your people and possibly having a family of your one day. But that all was ripped from you by a single bullet. Jake found himself cursing Eywa and all the other higher beings for taking his childâs life away far too soon to actually experience it. It wasnât fair at all. But, nothing ever if fair is it? The Great Mother only gives and borrows energy, having the power to take it away all in one breath. And Jake is learning the hard way of what the Great Mother is truly capable of.
         âYeah, yeah you did, angel. You protected your brothers and brought them back to me,â Jake answered, brushing some matted flyaways from your forehead, the dried up seawater making the hair cling to your skin, âIâm so proud of you.â. Upon hearing that statement, you felt contentment settle itself between your bones. You longed for those five words for years, especially if they came from your Father. It wasnât very often that either of your parents expressed their feelings about your accomplishments to you. Sure they mightâve bragged to other clan members about how you claimed and bonded with your ikran in little than two minutes, setting a new record for young Omatikaya, and they mightâve put you on a golden pedestal to others, highlighting how nearly perfect you were at everything you did. But they never said those kinds of things to you up front. A few âGood jobââs here and there, but nothing too impactful as those five words that your Father just uttered.
         It seemed as if the constant battle your body was engaging with had came to an end, numbness spreading to your entire being as the only thing you could do was continue to breathe shallow breaths and look up at your Father. Your heart was tired of pumping blood throughout your body only to be pushed out of it. Your lungs could only take small breaths at a time, not having the energy to fully expand at your inhales. Your head began to feel fogging, all your senses dimming as you barely registered your Mothers ikran harshly landing in front of you. âWhat-â the question that Neytiri was going to asked for stuck in her throat as her eyes fell into the scene in front of her. Her eldest child, the light of her life, was limp and covered in blood, who she hoped wasnât yours. âMy baby,â she whispered, quickly falling onto her knees in front of you, Neteyam moving out of the way so your Mother could see you in your final moments. Flashes of her giving birth to you, feeding you from her breast for the first time, playing with you as a babe, teaching you how to walk and talk, and all your other firsts you experienced throughout your sixteen years of life on Pandora raced through her mind once she saw the bullet wound settled into the middle of your chest, draining all life from you. You had been her first child, her pride and joy, and to see you like this, pale and sticky with your own blood, made her want to trade places with you. In an alternative universe, she wouldâve.
         âOh, Great Mother, please. No!â She shrieked, grabbing onto both of your biceps, trying to hug you closer as more of your soul and life slipped away at each passing second. You wanted to comfort her, to tell her that itâll all be alright, but you physically werenât able to speak, too fatigued to open your mouth. So, you just laid there as your Mother brought you close to her chest, seemingly trying to share her life force with you, to spare you from the cold grasp of death. Jake could only watch as Neytiri pleaded for the Great Mother to spare you, heart strings tugging at her desperate wails. He knows that Eywa always has a plan, but does that really include taking his eldest childâs life away? He began to doubt the entity that breathed life into everything on Pandora, just like he did back on Earth with all the other ones. Would she really be that cruel?
         Loâak was the first to notice you completely go slack and relaxed, your eyes focused on the eclipsing sun in front of you. He didnât want it to be true, calling out your name in hopes for your eyes to shift from the sun to him. But, it never came. Neytiri pulled you back from her chest, gently shaking you in hopes that youâd awake. But, you didnât. Upon the realization that the eldest Sully child had finally passed and was reunited with Eywa, everyone broke. Neytiri let out multiple screams and wails, begging for you to come back. Jake had only closed his eyes once again, tears escaping from his waterline. Neteyam looked down at his blood stained hands, feeling like his palms were on fire. Even then, years after your death, Neteyam can still feel the weight of your blood on his hands and the sticky feeling it left behind, no matter how many times he scrubbed at them. Spider continued to stand in his spot, motionless. He couldnât help but feel as if your death was his doing. Maybe if he didnât get kidnapped by Quaritch, youâd still be alive. Maybe if he didnât need Loâakâs help in rescuing him from the ship, youâd still be alive. Maybe if he was able to go into cryo and be shipped back to Earth, youâd still be alive. And Loâak felt his body go cold. He slumped back in the spot he was sitting in, bringing his hands up to his face as he sobbed into them. He felt as if he was at fault too. Maybe if he didnât insist on going to get Spider, youâd be alive. Maybe if he didnât get caught in that net, youâd still be alive. Maybe if he didnât go to that stupid broken down lab and get held hostage by Quaritch, youâd still be here. But thatâs all the Sully family can do. Think of what ifâs and only pray that your soul makes a safe return into the afterlife and that you only stay blissfully ignorant to the fact that you died and are no longer living. They can only hope.
And, along with your death, the new peaceful beginning that was prophesied and hoped for at your birth, died as well.

He Will Never Be Lost
Neytiri entered her familyâs marui, to see Jake sitting crosslegged on the floor with his head in his hands. He appeared to not even notice her footsteps approaching, which was unlike his usually alert demeanor. This concerned her a bit; it was the first time she had seen him like this in a while. He always busied himself with tasks, never just alone with himself.
âMa Jake?â she called softly to him from the entryway, so that she wouldnât startle him.
He raised his head promptly, looking up at her and then forcing a small smile. âYouâre back.â
âYes, there wasnât much to do after all.â
âWhere are the kids?â He inquired.
âWith Ronal and Tonowariâs children. I think Iâll let them stay out for a bit longer.â It was nighttime and everyone had eaten dinner, but Neytiri had to meet with the Tsahik briefly. So, she decided to take the kids out for a walk. Jake had stayed behind, and she didnât question it at the time.
âUh how is Loâak doing? I havenât gotten the chance to⌠ya knowâŚâ he told her with an indistinguishable look on his face.
âWell he seemed alright tonight, he was talking with everyone. But I know that he is not alright on the inside. You should talk to him. I think he really needs to hear from you.â
âI know⌠I will. I just⌠need some time.â Jake returned his head to his hands and Neytiri made her way over to him. She placed a hand gently on the top of his head, causing him to raise it and look up at her. When he did this, she moved her hand down to caress his cheek and he leaned into her warmth, only wanting more of her.
She traced the length of his face with her fingertips and landed on his chin, lifting it upwards to examine his face. It was covered in scars from the recent battle, bruised and battered. His beautiful blue skin now a deep shade of purple in some places. Dark circles had formed under his eyes and kept him looking as tired as he probably felt. The Sullyâs were hurting.
âLet me dress your wounds again, I want them to heal nicely,â she told him.
And this time when he smiled at her, it looked genuine. âOkay, my love.â
Neytiri left his side to prepare her medicines and herbs. He watched her as she worked and made her way back over to him with a few bowls and bottles. Jake adjusted his sitting position so that she could sit in between his legs comfortably. His hands moved to rest in the small of her back, where he held her in place. His eyes were locked on her the whole time, mesmerized by how focused she became and how beautiful she looked.
She worked in silence, covering every scar with the serums she made. It stung a bit at first, but Jake was used to it and barely reacted. A few moments later, the stinging turned to relief and the pain he felt in his face dissipated.
âNow, how does that feel?â She asked him, already knowing the answer.
âBetter. Thank you,â he told her before leaning in and placing a kiss on her lips that lingered for a while. Afterwards, she got up to put all of her supplies away and turned back towards him.
âWill you lay down with me for a little bit?â She asked with an outstretched hand.
Jake nodded and took the hand she offered to him, leading him towards their shared sleeping mat. They assumed their usual position, with one of Jakeâs arms around her and her head on his chest. She liked to listen to his heartbeat and sync up her breathing with his. It made her feel more connected to him.
When Jake felt her touch, it instantly calmed and comforted him. He closed his eyes and placed his lips to her head, taking in her scent that he loved so much. The grief was of course always there, some days better than others. But today was one of the more difficult days for him. And Neytiri could sense that.
âJake,â she spoke.
âHm?â He replied without opening his eyes.
âYouâve worked so hard.â
He opened his eyes at these words, and she continued.
âI know it was difficult, but you defeated that demon. You protected us with everything that you have.â
Tears began to well in Jakeâs eyes and he didnât know why. Was this what he needed to hear? There were so many thoughts going through his head all at once, but these simple words his wife spoke were bringing him to tears.
âItâs okay. You can rest now, you can let it all go,â she assured him.
âI⌠I canât.â He struggled to say. And she raised her head to look at him now, started to see that he was now crying. She reached up to wipe his tears and waited for him to continue. âI feel so empty, Neytiri. Like someone carved out a piece of me and left a big hole.â He placed his palm on his heart and then balled it into a fist. She rested her hand on top on his.
There was a lump in her throat, making the words even more difficult to get out. âI miss him too⌠our baby.â Tears were now forming in her eyes as well, and her voice trembled as she spoke.
âHow the hell are we supposed to do this?â
Neytiri knew loss more than most, and Jake knew it too. But nothing could prepare them for what they would feel from losing their child. âI donât know. But we feel everything and we do it as a familyâŚtogether.â
This broke him. Every wall he put up had come crashing down. How could she still be this strong, in the face of so much pain. His tears were overflowing, overwhelmed at the words he didnât know he needed to hear until now. He used his free hand to cover his eyes, his other arm still around Neytiri. She removed it from around her, sat up, and motioned for him to lay his head on her lap. He obeyed, and he felt her hands through his hair.
Jake cried viscerally for quite some time, to make up for all the days he did not allow himself to. When his cries subsided, she spoke first. Her hand was still caressing his head.
âWhen Neteyam had taken his final breath⌠I just wanted to stay there with him. I didnât want to think of anything else or anyone else⌠just him. But you put everything aside and got me focused on saving Kiri and Tuk. We could have lost them too, but we didnât. Because you were my strength in that moment. But you donât have to be strong right now, okay?â
He nodded and pulled her into a tight embrace. He loved her so much. He noticed that she took her braids out, and her dark hair cascaded down her back. He played with the ends of her hair, held her there and then was brought back to a memory that he doesnât like to relive. âNeytiri, I have to tell you something,â he said quietly into her shoulder.
âHm?â
âWhen I was trapped in the ship⌠after I killed QuaritchâŚLoâak found me. And for a split second, I thought he was Neteyam.â
Neytiriâs lip began to quiver, anticipating what Jake would say. He continued.
âI donât know if I thought I was dead⌠or if I thought this was all just some long nightmare, and that he was still alive⌠Iâm not sure now. But Loâak tried to convince me to keep going and I told him to just go without me. I told him to just save himself.â
She released him now and looked at him. âI never knew that,â she said while processing the information.
âI didnât tell you because I was ashamed. Baby, I was ready to die there. I thought I was gunna die there. I was just so tired from fighting, and I told him that he could make it out of the ship if he left me. It was weighing on my chest and I wanted to tell you. Iâm so sorry.â
âShhh, itâs okay,â she assured him while hugging him again and rubbing his back.
âItâs not okay. For a second, I stopped trying to make it back to you. For a second, I thought that I would be with him again.â
âYou fought for so long, you were probably so tired. And to have to keep fighting after we held our son while he was dying⌠of course you had a moment like this. I didnât think I was going to make it out alive with Tuk either, until Kiri came for us. All that matters is that you came back to us anyway⌠and we have our children to thank for that.â
âIâm never going to give up like that ever again. Iâm always going to get back to you and the kids.â
âI know you will.â
âI shouldâve never brought us here. I should have listened to you. Running was not the answer, I should know that by now. How could I have been so foolish?â
âYou did what you believed was the right choice, to keep us safe.â
âAnd in the end⌠I couldnât keep him safe. I wonder if he would still be-
âPlease donât think that way,â she cut him off before he could finish the sentence. âWe donât know what would have happened if we stayed at home.â
Jake listened to her and knew she was right. He tried to take her words in, but he was consumed by all the thoughts that were plaguing his mind. Everything came out now. Neytiri just kept rubbing circles on his back and listening.
âI think I put too much pressure on him because he was the oldest. I gave him too much responsibility to look after his siblings. But he was fucking 15. And instead of letting him enjoy his childhood, I made him grow up so fast. He probably thought going back to save them was his responsibility, but it wasnât. It was ours.â
She released him, wanting to look him in the eyes while she told him this. She cupped his face with one hand, and stroked his cheek with her thumb.
âNo matter what, our kids are going to look after one another. Because we taught them that Sullyâs stick together. Their parents are warriors. We could have raised them differently and they would still want to be like us. Despite everything, itâs who they are. They stand up for what they believe in and fight. Deep down you know that, Jake.â
He put his hand over hers on his face. âI do know that.â
âSo donât blame yourself. Living in this war⌠itâs always going to be dangerous for them. We tried to shield them from it as best as we could, and weâll keep trying. Thatâs all we can do.â
âYouâre right. I know you are.â
She gave him a loving smile and he took the time to look at his wife. She was just as tired as he was and here she was⌠comforting him when she was also hurting. Sleep was scarce for everyone these days, but he wanted her to get as much as she could, even if it was just an hour.
âLet me brush your hair? Itâll relax you, maybe help you sleep better tonight.â
âOkay, my husband.â
He got up to grab her comb and then she kneeled in front of him. He brought all her hair to the back, first running his fingers through the strands just in case there were knots. His touch instantly relaxed her and she let her eyelids close. He passed the comb through each section of her hair slowly; and she felt tingling sensations throughout her scalp which then travelled down her back.
âHe was so beautiful, Neytiri,â Jake said softly.
âHe was.â
âBecause of you. He had your smile and your eyes, and your heart.â
She smiled at the thought of this with her eyes still closed, and her heart was warmed. Now she imagined her first bornâs face and the memory of his laughter filled her mind. She imagined her father and sister meeting him in the afterlife, watching over him. It was thoughts like these that comforted her.
Jake moved her hair to the side now, exposing her neck. He placed soft kisses along its length, from her earlobe and all the way down to her shoulder. It gave her goosebumps in the best way possible. She turned her head towards him and before she knew it, his lips were on hers. It was gentle, but passionate and loving.
Once he combed through her hair several times, he held her from behind and let her rest on him. She was quiet for a while and all he could hear was the ocean waves against the shore and her breathing, which was slowing down now. She was finally falling asleep. When he was sure, he secured her head in the crook of his neck and lifted her up to take her to bed. She of course woke up from all the movement.
âOh⌠did I fall asleep? Iâm sorry.â
Jake chuckled at this, it was just like her to apologize for doing something she was supposed to do. He placed her down and covered her with a woven blanket. âYou sleeping was the whole point.â
âThe kidsâŚI forgot.â
âIâll go get em, just close your eyes. Weâll be back soon.â
âLetâs go see him tomorrow? Together.â
Jake nodded. âItâs been a while since he saw us both I think.â
âI love you.â
âI love you more,â Jake told her before placing another kiss on her forehead.
She watched him as he walked out of their home to retrieve their children. And then she let her eyes close, eventually falling asleep and dreaming of Neteyamâs smile. And she was reminded that he was with the great Mother, and would never be lost.

The Moon ||| neteyam x human!reader
masterlist
epilogue
pairings: neteyam x human!fem!reader
summary: neteyam would give you the moon if he could
words: 8.8k (Iâm dead omg)
warnings/notes: friends to lovers, major ANGST (cried while writing this one) bits of fluff, implied sexual themes, lovesick!neteyam, mentions of sickness and medical treatments, death, use of y/n, I am not a medical professional so I lot of this is just my interpretation Iâm sorry that it wonât be accurate pls donât hate me, mentions of mates, spider is your adoptive brother (in this house we love spider đŤśđť), and of course my corny writing, this is the product of me listening to moon song on a loop not sure how this happened, This is gonna be rough apologies in advance
The first time Neteyam saw you was when he was eight years old. He was used to seeing Spider around, but not you. You were new.
Trembling behind Spider it looked like you were trying to disappear. Barely ďżźpeeking up over his shoulder to look. Neteyam's tail swished in curiosity as he observed you.
"Guys, this is Y/N." Spider introduced you while pushing you forward. "She's a little shy." He added.
Your big eyes looked up at the Na'vi children who towered over you. "Hi." You whispered with an awkward smile and a small wave. "You're really tall." You giggled.
Neteyam stared at you in awe immediately infatuated with you. You were unlike any sky person he had ever seen.
"You're just really short." Lo'ak snapped back rolling his eyes.
Neteyam noticed your smile falter and shoved his brother. Your smile was beautiful, the prettiest thing the young boy had ever seen. At that moment Neteyam decided you should always be smiling.
Spider explained to the group that you were born here like him. You had never left the lab before. This was the first time you saw the beauty of the forest and the first time you saw a Na'vi in the flesh. You were in awe of everything around you.
Spending the rest of the day playing with the other children you couldn't help but get distracted by your surroundings. The forest was alive it's beauty glowing all around you. You had the urge to explore every last inch of it.
Neteyam kept his eyes locked on you. He was worried that you'd get separated from the rest of them. You were small and delicate, unable to properly protect yourself, so Neteyam decided to protect you.
So that's how it was whenever you played with the Sully children. Neteyam always glued by your side. He couldn't explain it. The way he felt an immediate draw towards you. As if the two of you were meant to find each other.
Neytiri was less than thrilled to have another human child around her kids. One was bad enough. After everything humans had done to their home -to her - she despised them. She even had her doubts about the loyal few who stayed.
What made her even more unsure of you was the way her eldest son never left your side. Ever since Spider introduced you Neteyam was glued to your side. Had it been anyone else Neytiri would have found it endearing. But you were human. You were a demon.
A few years later Neytiri started to notice things about you. The way the forest left you in awe no matter how many times youâd seen it. She'd catch you gasping in excitement over the littlest things. It was as if you could see.
She also noticed the strong bond you had with her children, especially with Neteyam. She knew her son well. Neytiri was well aware of how he felt towards you. She feared the day that he realized his own feelings.
You were sitting in the forest with Neteyam next to you. His mother was across from the two of you. Neytiri was shooting daggers with her eyes at you. The stare made you shift uncomfortably. Neteyam picked up on it placing a gentle hand on your knee.
Neytiri observed how you immediately relaxed. The sweet genuine smiled you gave her son and how he gave you one of his own.
Neytiri had been trying to give Neteyam a lesson on arrow making. He had insisted that you join them since he promised to spend the afternoon with you. Much to her dismay, you were here unintentionally distracting him.
You felt something barely grace your shoulder. Figuring it was Neteyam you didn't pay it much mind. Then another tap on your head. One on your arm. Then your other shoulder.
Looking up, you met Neytiri's eyes. She was staring at you like she had seen a ghost. Starting to feel panicked you looked at your arms. You gasped as your eyes filled with wonder.
Several atokirina' floated around you. They danced up and down gently resting on you. Neteyam had the biggest smile on his face. To him it was confirmation the great mother saw you the way he did.
It was undoubtedly a sign from Eywa herself. Neytiri couldn't believe her eyes. Feeling a sense of dĂŠjĂ vu, she was brought back to the first time she met her mate.
Unable to shake what she had witnessed she went to her mother. After explaining the strange encounter Neytiri waited while Moâat consulted with Eywa.
âEywa sees the child.â Moâat finally spoke. âThe Great Mother has declared that she will spend the rest of her life by Neteyam.â
Neytiri couldnât wrap her mind around it. The concept was so foreign to her. Eywa had accepted you as one of her own. Not only that, it was also her will that you stay by Neteyam. Neytiri would never question the will of Eywa. While she didnât fully understand it she would have to learn to be okay with it.
From that day on, Neteyamâs mother treated you with a kindness she never had before. You didnât know what happened for her to finally warm up to you but you were forever grateful she did.
Years went by and it was time for Neteyam to begin training for his iknimaya. You were so excited for him, knowing how important this rite of passage was to the Na'vi. There was a part of you that was downcast as he wouldn't be able to spend time with you every day like he usually does.
Your heart hurt because all you wanted was to be able to experience this with him. For as long as you could remember you wanted to be Na'vi. It was your birthday wish every year though you never told anyone out of embarrassment. That and it wouldn't come true if you told.
You and your brother had begged for avatars for years. Unfortunately the materials and funding needed just wasnât there. Norm and Max wanted nothing more than to be able to grant your wishes, but it just wasn't a possibility.
"So how long are you going to be gone this time?"
Neteyam sighed. He could hear the disappointment in your voice and it broke his heart. "A month. Maybe two."
You felt like you could burst into tears right then and there. Neteyam was your best friend, not to mention your crush for as long as you could remember. You couldn't imagine not seeing him for that long.
"I'll be back before you know it." Gently he brushed hair out of your face. As much as he loved seeing you in the forest he treasured the moments in your room without your mask. Neteyam loved to see your face without the glass restricting his view.
"Don't forget about me." You playfully pushed him.
He gasped in mock offense. "I could never." He smiled. Before he could stop himself he placed a kiss on your forehead.
Stopping dead in his tracks he pulled back. The pair of you stilled blushes adoring both of your cheeks.
Neteyam tried to burry his feelings for you but it was impossible. He had fallen helplessly in love with his best friend. Not caring that you were human he couldn't deny his feelings. He just wasn't sure how to tell you.
Before you knew it, you were throwing your arms around him as you hugged him goodbye. You went to pull away but he kept you in his embrace for a little longer.
"I'm gonna miss you." He sighed.
"You're going to have so much fun you won't even think about me."
"That's not true you're always on my mind." He blushed.
A blush engulfed your face and you bit your lip. You noticed Neteyam's tail swishing back and forth. Looking up at him he was smiling back at you. His cheeks were slightly tinted.
Standing back with the rest of his family you waved as he joined the other young warriors. "He'll be back before you know it." Spider smiled knowingly at you.
No matter how hard you tried you couldn't keep your crush from your bother. He immediately figured it out. Little did you know most everyone had figured it out. The only ones who hadn't were you and Neteyam.
Neytiri watched you with a smile on her face. As time passed she accepted the idea of you with her son. Finding amusement in the two of you pining after each other.
The time without Neteyam dragged on for what felt like an eternity. Spider did his best to keep you occupied as did the Sully siblings. But your mind never strayed far from the boy your heart beat for.
You were getting ready for bed after a long day. Neteyam was halfway through his training by now. You had been counting down the days to his return.
A knock on your door interrupted your thoughts. Norm stood awkwardly in the doorway. âYou have a visitor.â He informed you.
Furrowing your eyebrows you looked at him confused. It was way past the curfew set for the lab. âWho?â
Before he could answer you Loâak pushed passed him and entered your room. He look frustrated and exhausted.
âWhat are you doing here Loâak?â You asked afraid that something was wrong.
Without saying a word he removed the communicator from his neck and handed it to you. âThis is for you.â Was all he said.
You looked over the tech not understanding why he was giving it to you especially now of all times. âIâve been trying to sleep for hours. He wonât leave me alone until he speaks with you.â
Your face lit up knowing exactly who he was. Wasting no time you pressed the button. âNeteyam?â You hesitantly asked.
âOh Eywa how Iâve missed your voice.â Neteyamâs voice rang through the speaker.
âYeah Iâm not staying to listen to this.â Loâak deadpanned before leaving.
Neteyam missed you terribly and begged his father to let him speak with you. Jake felt like it would be a distraction so he didn't allow it. So Neteyam came up with the brilliant idea to pester his little brother until he gave it. It worked rather quickly.
You spent the whole night talking to Neteyam. He told you all about his training not sparing a single detail. He was more interested in what you had been up to. He just wanted to hear your voice.
The day Neteyam was to return was finally here. You and Spider sprinted through the forest heading towards the village. By the time you got there he had already returned.
Searching the crowd you finally saw him. Knees weak your breath caught in your throat. Somehow he looked taller. His mussels were more defined, shoulders wider, and his face sharper. He was no longer a boy. He looked like a man.
You had always wanted Neteyam but this was different. In that moment your want for him was something you hadn't experienced before. It almost felt wrong. Almost.
Neteyam searched the crowd for you. Eyes glancing over a figure that was familiar he did a double take. It was you. You looked different.
Neteyam gulped as he took in your new features. Your hips wider and chest fuller you no longer looked like the little kid everyone was so used to. Neteyam noticed your hair was shorter, resting at just below your shoulders now.
You were beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. A gift from Eywa herself. A primal urge came over him, a desire to take you right then and there. You were to be his mate, he felt that you were destined.
"Neteyam!" You squealed running into his arms. He picked you up twirling you in the air like you weighed nothing.
"I missed you Ma'Y/N." He snuggled his face into your neck.
You bit your lip at the pet name. It was usually reserved for mated couples but Neteyam couldn't help but let it slip.
As the weeks passed on the attraction between the two of was stronger than ever. Stolen glances and intentional accidental touches filled your days.
After Neteyam successfully claimed his Ikran earning his spot among the people he would take you for rides.
"I knew you could do it. I'm so proud of you." You looked up at him.
The look you gave him made his heart flutter. A strange satisfaction overcame him knowing that you were proud of him. He wanted you to be proud of him.
That night he walked you back to the lab following you to your room. He desperately needed to speak with you. He had been working up the courage all night.
Neteyam sat next to you on your bed. He loved the moments you shared without your mask in the way. Staring into your eyes without anything in front of them.
"I have earned my place among the people." He said suddenly.
You nodded slowly not sure where he was going with this. "I know I was there." You giggled.
"I may now chose a mate."
Your heart dropped. So this was why he wanted to talk. He was here to tell you that he found someone. He probably wanted you to leave him alone now.
Anxiety flooded your mind as you felt stupid. A part of you actually thought he liked you back. Why would he? You werenât even the same species. You had nothing to offer him.
âI see.â You gave your best fake smile. âWhoâs the lucky girl then?â You had to know.
âYou.â Neteyam said without hesitation.
âIâm sorry what?â You asked. There was no way you heard that right.
âYou, if youâll have me.â He looked away shy. He took your confusion as rejection. âI want you to be my mate Y/N.â
âAre you sure?â You asked dumbfounded.
Neteyam cupped your face in his palms. âI see you Y/N.â
Your heart sped up at the phrase you found so beautiful and so terrifying at the same time. He saw you. Every broken piece, every imperfection, all of your good qualities as well as the bad ones, and he still wanted you anyways.
He wanted you despite it all. Neteyam saw you.
âI am human Neteyam.â You said. You needed him to be sure of his choice. Naâvi mate for Life. Of course you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, but you needed to be sure he wouldnât regret it.
âI know. That changes nothing.â
âI cannot make Tsaheylu.â The bond was the building block of life on Pandora. It was vital to their existence. They bonded with their mates, you would be unable to bond with him in this way.
âI know. But I see you anyways.â He confessed.
âIâll never be tsahĂk.â
âNone of that matters to me Y/N. Stop trying to give me reasons to not want you. It wonât work.â
Looking down in shame you gave him one last reason. âI canât give you children Neteyam. Youâd be making so many sacrifices just to have me. Itâs not an equal trade.â
âThatâs where youâre wrong.â He smiled. âYou are all I want. Itâs always been you Y/N. Always. Nothing else matters when you are enough for me.â
Neteyam leaned in as if he was about to kiss you. âYou are what I want Y/N.â
âYou are what I want too.â You breathed. âI see you Neteyam.
That was all he needed to hear. He crashed his lips onto yours passionately kissing you. Lips moving in sync until you pulled away to catch your breath.
Staring into his golden eyes you removed your shirt leaving your chest bare before him. Neteyamâs eyes widened at your sudden action. He wasnât expecting anything to happen, he was happy with kissing.
âWe donât have to do anything MaâY/N.â
There was that name again. You smiled. âI want to. I want you Neteyam. That is, if youâll have me.â You batted your eyelashes at him.
His tail twitched in excitement before he tackled you back onto the bed. The two of you spent the night a tangled mess of limbs. âWe are mated before Eywa for life.â Neteyam whispered into your ear before you drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
It had been two years since you mated with Neteyam. It had been the best years of your life.
His family was immediately accepting of your relationship. To your surprise so was most of the clan. There were a few that frowned upon your union but Neteyam made sure to put them in their place.
Following Neteyamâs lead you ran through the forest. He made sure to keep looking back for you so the two of you wouldnât get separated.
âSo where are we going again?â You huffed out of breath.
âItâs a surprise.â He smiled back at you.
Neteyam took you to a clearing that had the most beautiful flowers you had ever seen. You were fascinated by the nature of Pandora.
âI wish I could smell them.â You sighed. Always longing to smell the fresh air and to feel the breeze on your face.
Neteyam frowned at your words. He too hated your mask, but it kept you alive. It allowed him to show you his home. To Neteyam it was worth the inconvenience.
âCome on, letâs keep going.â He smiled. âThereâs something else I wanna show you.â
Without a second thought you followed him. Starting to feel faint you slowed down. Everything was getting blurry and your head was woozy.
"Neteyam, could you slow down a little?" You panted, pushing your hand against a tree for support. "I'm a little dizzy."
Stopping dead in his tracks he rushed over to you. His mind racing with a million different thoughts. His heart screaming at him to protect you. Not looking good at all your face had gone pale. Your eyes looked exhausted. You looked ill.
"I will take you to my grandmother. You do not look good Ma'Y/N."
"I'm fine Teyam." You attempted a smile to reassure him. The last thing you wanted was to be rushed into the village. The People were used to you, but having the TsahĂk tend to a sky demon may be pushing your luck. "Just take me back to the lab please."
Scooping you up he held you close to his chest bridal style. "Neteyam, I could've walked. I'm not broken." You rolled your eyes. Ignoring your protests he continued the trek back to the lab. Something was wrong and you were unwell.
Gently setting you down at the lab entrance he insisted that he come in with you. Neteyam was still slightly unsure of sky people, the lab making him nervous. But this was different. Anxiety consumed him and he couldn't leave without making sure you were okay.
Taking your mask off you then offered Neteyam a mask of his own. He hastily took it eyes never leaving you. The last thing on his mind was a mask for himself. He could breath this air for hours anyways.
Walking the familiar hallways to your room he observed your small steps. Gently panting as if the walk was tiring you out. You insisted you were fine but your body language said otherwise.
Plopping down on your bed you made grabby hands reaching out for him. "Cuddle me." You playfully commanded. Smiling he complied gently laying down next to you, arms instinctively pulling you closer.
Taking a deep breath letting your scent fill his lungs he hummed. Neteyam gently peppered a few kisses to your face before burying his head in your neck.
"Neteyam stop." You giggled. "It tickles." You could feel his smile against your neck. Running your free hand through his braids you sighed in satisfaction. Moments like this made up for all the bad ones.
You felt so safe in his arms, like he could protect you from anything. And he would. He'd burn the whole world if it meant keeping you safe.
"Teyam?" You whispered fingers still playing with his hair. He hummed in response snuggling closer to you. "I love you to the moon and back."
The expression felt odd rolling off your tongue. Checks heated in a blush you were a bit embarrassed. After all, you found it to be incredibly cheesy. But there was a part of you that found the sentiment sweet.
You'd first read it engraved on a tiny silver necklace. It had belonged to your mother. One of the scientists gave it to you once you were older. It was the only thing you had of her. Everything else was left up to your imagination.
For years they tried to allude to the fact that your mother had passed away. It seemed easier to let you believe that than tell you the truth. But even though you were a child you weren't clueless. You knew that your mother had left you here.
Terrified of everything that had happened she went back to earth unable to take you with her. That's how you found yourself being raised by the scientists on Pandora with Spider as your honorary brother.
A small part of you cling to the saying. Wishing it was true, that your mother loved you to the moon and back - to Pandora and back. That one day she'd be back for you.
You knew it would never happen. So instead you say it to Neteyam. Because you truly meant it. You would go to the moon and back for him. And you would be back. You'd always come back for him.
Neteyam's ears perked up at your words. It wasn't the first time you had told him you loved him but you had never said it like this. He didn't entirely understand it but he appreciated your words just the same.
Smiling at you like you were the most precious thing he ever laid his eyes on. "I will give you the moon my love."
Laughing you pulled him closer. "You can't give someone the moon Neteyam."
But he would for you. You were his moon, his stars, and everything in between. Whatever you asked for he would deliver. "If I could give you the moon, I would give you the moon." He confirmed.
"You're a dork." You giggled.
"So are you then. You started it." He playfully fired back. Neteyam's mind turned somber for a moment. "Are you feeling better?"
You nodded cuddling more into your mattress to get comfy. "Much better. I think I need more cuddles to be one hundred percent though."
Smiling, Neteyam snuggled into you. "I'm more than happy to assist."
As the weeks went by you continued to feel strange. It didnât seem like a big deal to you, so you didnât want to bring it up. After all, you were human. Getting sick was a part of every day life.
No one noticed how you were acting strange. Except Neteyam of course. He picked up on the way you always seemed tired. The way your eyes looked a bit dull as they stared off into space. No matter how hard you tried to hide it, he saw it all.
You were now having trouble keeping your meals down. Stomach always feeling like it was in knots you didnât know what was wrong. No one had caught you throwing up yet, but they did start to notice how you were losing weight without trying.
Norm awkwardly tried to broach the subject as always trying to be the father you never had. He was afraid you were doing something self inflicted and wanted to support you in any way he could.
It took awhile but you were able to convince him it wasn't what he thought. You honestly didn't know what was wrong, you just one day started feeling sick.
Norm being the man of science that he was immediately wanted to start tests to get to the bottom of what was wrong. Somehow you managed to get him to hold off for awhile. The idea of going through a bunch of tests scared you.
You didnât get out of it for very long. Neteyam was worried sick about you and insisted you do whatever was needed to get better. Reluctantly you agreed spending the next several days undergoing tests and blood work.
Neteyam even took you to his grandmother for her guidance. She wasnât able to pinpoint what was wrong. Whatever you had was a human sickness, unknown to the Naâvi.
Jake took a special interest in what was wrong. He was once a human himself. He was well aware of everything that could go wrong with the human body. Plus he deeply cared for his daughter in law. Jake consulted with Norm regularly regarding his findings.
The Olo'eyktan thought itâd be best if he was one of the first to find out. That way he would be able to explain it to his family better. He was by no means a doctor but he knew his son would trust his words more than Normâs.
He could see the way Neteyam looked like his was close to having a melt down. He had a forced calmness about him. As if he was in complete denial that something might be wrong. Because he was. If he refused to acknowledge it, it wouldnât be real.
"Leukemia." Norm spoke like that one simple word explained everything. Jake's breath caught in his throat at the word. Neteyam stood head moving back and forth between the two of them, waiting for an explanation.
His heart hammered in his chest as they spoke words that meant nothing to him. Human words he didn't know. "How long?" His father asked quietly.
"It's progressed rather quickly. She had been exhibiting symptoms for a few months now. It's hard to say how long she's had it."
Neteyam knew they were talking about you. Dread filled him and he felt sick to his stomach. The feeling of being left in the dark was too much for him, he felt like he could scream.
"How long does she have?" Jake asked again eyes screwed onto Norm. He spoke hushed this time. Jake wasn't a fool. He was well aware of his son's feelings towards you. In fact, the whole clan knew.
How long does she have? The words echoed in Neteyam's brain. Repeating over and over again. They couldn't be talking about your life could they? You were just a little sick, you had said so yourself. This couldn't be real he refused to believe it.
"I've estimated three years." Max spoke up. "She has a thirty percent chance."
Thirty. That was low wasn't it? There was no possible way you'd have such a low chance. The science geeks were the best of the best. You'd also have access to the remedies of the Na'vi. Most importantly you'd have Neteyam. He made a vow to take care of and protect you. He indented to keep that vow.
"What are her opinions? What can we do?" Jake needed all the information he could get if he was going to have to explain this to his son.
"Chemo would be the next step. It's going to be hard, she's already so weak. It's going to take a lot out of her."
Jake glanced over at his son. Neteyam looked like he was on the verge of a panic attack. Hell, he was on the verge of a panic attack. His eyes were wide as he stared at his father, pleading for an answer.
Jake sighed, "Would she have a better chance back on Earth? Can we even give her proper care here?"
Earth? You couldn't go to earth. Neteyam refused to allow it. If you left he'd never see you again. He wouldn't be able to care for you while you're sick. He also wouldn't know how you were doing - he wouldn't know if you were still breathing or not.
His mouth hung open as his brain tried to register this. "She can't go to earth dad." He said just above a whisper. "She can't go!" He said again this time yelling desperately at his father.
"Calm down boy." Jake hushed him placing a hand on his shoulder. "Let them speak."
"She's not going anywhere." Norm said trying to choose his words carefully. "Her immune system is weak right now. I don't think she would survive the trip. I think it's best to treat her here with what we have available."
Tears stung Neteyam's eyes as he stared at the ground. You were so sick you wouldn't survive the trip to earth. Would you even survive here? He came to the horrific realization that you were sick and you might be dying.
"She's strong though." Jake said more so to his son. "She can fight this."
Max and Norm looked at each other with sad smiles. Neither doubted your strength, you were one of the strongest people they knew. But this was different. They had to entertain the possibility that even if you fight with your all you could lose. They also knew that they didn't have everything needed to properly treat you. But for the sake of the broken boy in front of them they left that part out.
Staying positive was hard but you gave it your best try. You felt weak but it wasnât insufferable yet. The worst part of it was you couldnât go out exploring like you were accustomed to.
Your friends made sure to keep you company. Your room become the unofficial official hangout spot. Loâak and Spider would play games with you, Kiri kept you up to date on all of the gossip in the village, Tuk insisted that the two of you color, and Neteyam? Neteyam never left your side.
He was there not long after your woke up and often times he stayed the night. Neteyam never wanted to leave your side, wanting to make sure you were cared for in any way possible. He would be there every step of the way.
When it was time for chemo you felt extremely anxious. As Norm prepared the IV Neteyam eyed the needle untrustworthily. You winced as it went into your arm. Neteyam hissed ready to throw Norm across the room for causing you pain.
Norm panicked and you quickly explained to Neteyam that it was okay. It only hurt for a few minutes. You had to deal with it. You needed the treatment to get better.
Neteyam cuddled up next to you holding your hand. He tried to do things to distract you from it. The pair of you would watch movies from back on earth. You taught him how to play uno. He could never beat you and it frustrated him to no end. He was close to throwing his cards in anger. Seeing him be such a sore looser made you laugh.
Neteyam loved your laugh. He didnât hear it much anymore so it was his lifeâs mission to make you laugh as much as he could.
He believed youâd make a full recovery. This was simply a bump in the road.
"Please don't let him in." You pleaded with Spider. "I don't want him to see me like this." Tears were stinging your eyes now.
Spider looked sympathetically at you. You tried so hard to be strong for everyone but it was wearing down on you. This was effecting you worse than you thought it would. All you wanted to sulk in your room by yourself.
"He's freaking out Y/N. I'm afraid he's gonna start breaking stuff." He chuckled. Gently placing his hand on your shoulder his concerned look returned. "He cares about you. A lot. He just wants to make sure you're okay."
Nodding your head you wiped your face with your hands. You didn't want him to see that you had been crying. "Okay. Let him in."
Spider went off to find Neteyam it didn't take him too long thanks to the commotion he was causing. "You cannot keep me here!" Neteyam bellowed.
He tried to moved around the crowd of scientists who were attempting to keep him back. Neteyam growled in frustration. "Y/N is my mate you cannot keep me from her."
"Bro, calm down!" Spider yelled as Neteyam went to throw something off of a desk. He stopped as soon as he heard Spider. Neteyam's shoulders relaxed slightly at the familiar face.
"They are trying to keep me away." He snapped.
"Yeah I can see that." Spider huffed. "If you're done with your temper tantrum Y/N is ready to see you."
Raising his head high Neteyam walked past the scientists smugly. When out of earshot he bent down to Spider "They said Y/N did not want to see me." His face etched with worry.
Sighing Spider ran his hand over his face. "She's upset right now. It's not my place to say. She needs to be the one to tell you. But she's upset and embarrassed right now. She didn't want you to see her like that."
Neteyam's heart clenched at his words. The thought of you being so upset that you didn't want to see him crushed him. Walking into your room he was preparing for the worst.
You were sitting in your bed with your hands folded in your lap. Staring down you were avoiding his gaze.
He looked you up and down to see if their was any visible signs of what was wrong. If there was a problem Neteyam wanted to attack it head on. Your sickness wasn't like that though. He had to sit and watch helplessly as you suffered. It consumed him to the point he lived in constant agony.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Except your eyes were red and puffy like you had been crying. You were crying. Why were you crying? Neteyam's protective side took the forefront once again, ready to crush whatever had upset you.
Rushing to your side he cupped your cheek with his hand. "Ma'love what's wrong?" Worried etched on his face.
"You can have these back. I don't need them anymore." You sniffed. Your closed hands reached out to his. Opening your hands you gently poured the contents into his.
Neteyam stilled as his beads spilled into his hands. They were the beads he had given to you. He loved seeing you proudly wearing them in your hair, letting everyone see you were his.
"You don't want them anymore?" He softly asked. It felt like a punch to the gut. It was as if you were rejecting him.
"I won't be able to wear them anymore Neteyam." Meeting his gaze your heart broke seeing his face. He didn't understand why you were returning his gift to you.
"My hair is falling out Neteyam." You sighed.
"I do not understand." His brow furrowed trying to put the pieces together.
"The chemo- the medicine makes my hair fall out." You tried to explain.
Spider walked over and put his hand on your shoulder for support. He viewed you as his little sister. It hurt him to see you suffering like this.
Neteyam didn't understand how this medicine was helping you if it was making it so hard on you. Human medicine was more complicated than the Na'vi remedies he was used to.
You knew that he was genuinely curious and just trying to understand but you were tired if talking about it. You knew you would eventually lose your hair but you thought you could handle it.
Everything was too much. You hadn't really felt sick until now. When you noticed your hair coming out in clumps it all became real. You were sick.
Spider found you in a fit of sobs. It broke his heart to see you like that. It also sent him into a panic. He didn't know what to do to make you feel better. He was your big brother, he was supposed to know everything.
"Norm gave me this." Sighing you pulled out hair clippers. "He said it might be easier to just go ahead and shave my head." Tears stung your eyes again. "I just don't know if I can."
Without thinking Spider took the clippers from you. "I'll go first." He declared.
Eyes widening in panic you tried to stop him. "Wait Spider! You don't have to do that." Before you could get another word out he turned them on and quickly swiped along the top of his head.
You and Neteyam stared at him with wide eyes. Dumbfounded you couldn't believe your brother just did that. He did it for you. You couldn't help the small smile that formed. Knowing that your brother loved you that much made your heart swell.
"Are you guys just gonna stare at me or are you gonna help me finish this up?" Spider asked with a smirk.
Once finished Spider was almost unrecognizable. "I can't believe you did that." You mumble as he helped you with your hair.
"It's not a big deal." He shrugged. "It was weighing me down anyways. I'll be faster now."
You rolled your eyes at your brother's odd logic. Neteyam was holding onto your hand watching Spider like a hawk. The idea of taking a blade to your head terrified him even though you assured him it was safe.
Gently you squeezed his hand. âIâm okay.â You assured him. He nodded bringing your hand up to his lips, tenderly kissing your knuckles. âI love you.â His whispered lips still pressed to your fingers.
Usually you stuck to the Naâvi terms of affection. It was what Neteyam was comfortable with. But after learning what the human phrase meant he had to use it. Because it was true. He loved you with every fiber of his being.
Tugging his hand to your lips you gave his knuckles a matching kiss. âI love you too. So so much.â
âCome on guys knock it off.â Spider complained pretending to be sick. As much as your constant shows of affection annoyed him he was glad you found someone who truly loved you.
The next day Neteyam came to visit you with his hands behind his back. You eyed him suspiciously, he was never good at keeping secrets from you.
âI made this for you last night.â He gently placed a bracelet in your lap. You gasped when you realized it was made of the beads he had originally given you for your hair.
âYou said you couldnât wear them anymore and now thatâs not true.â
Carefully you put the bracelet on. Heart bursting at the sweet gesture tears began to spill from your eyes. Neteyam started to panic thinking be did something wrong.
âYou are not happy with it?â He asked defeated. âYou are crying.â
âYes but theyâre happy tears. I love it Neteyam. I love you.â You threw your arms around his neck. Smiling he pulled you closer into his chest.
âOel ngati kameie.â He whispered into your neck.
âI see you MaâTeyam.â
"I'm dying Neteyam." You said without any hesitation or emotion.
Neteyam immediately sat up looking to you slightly begging that he heard you wrong. It couldn't be true. It couldn't be.
"No one's told you because they're afraid of how you'll react. I don't want to keep anything from you. Love you too much to do that." Your eyes met his through your mask. He felt his heart breaking not only from your words but your eyes. They were faded, lacking the light he loved so much.
"They didn't want to tell me either." Your hoarse voice kept on. "But it's hard to pull a fast one over on me when I'm like this." Chuckling at yourself Neteyam caught a glimpse of you. The real you. Not this pitiful shell of who you once were.
"The treatment stopped working months ago. They told me last week."
Bringing your hand to his mouth he gently kissed your knuckles. "Please do not say such things." His voice cracked. Tears were now freely flowing from his eyes.
Deep down in his heart he knew he was losing you. He just didn't want to believe it. He couldn't believe it. Acknowledging it made it feel real and there was no way this was real. It had to be a cruel nightmare.
"I'm tired Neteyam." You spoke quietly.
Unsure of what you meant he was ready to scoop you up and tuck you into bed. Somehow you had convinced him to go star gazing tonight. It had seemed like the perfect date night idea since you were always cooped up in your room. But now he kicked himself for allowing you to leave.
"Let's get you back then," he started shuffling."
"No Neteyam." You interrupted him stopping him in his tracks. "I'm tired of this." You gestured to yourself. "I'm tired of treatments that aren't working. Tired of being stuck in my room all day. Im tired of it all." You sighed.
"This isn't living Neteyam. It's waiting to die." Meeting his eyes your heart sank. He was finally registering your words. Neteyam looked at you like you had just pierced his heart with an arrow. "I'm tired of waiting."
You had been battling this for over a year now. It had taken its toll on you physically and emotionally. You didnât know how much longer you could go on like this.
"What are you saying Y/N?" He asked trying his best to stay calm but miserably failing. His hands were shaking and his heart quickened.
"I asked Norm and Max about how I could speed it up."
Neteyam heard his heart shatter into a million pieces. You wanted to end your life. You wanted to leave him. You couldn't possibly want to leave him could you?
Tears were freely falling from his eyes. His body started to shake fighting off sobs.
"I'm not getting any better Neteyam." You gently placed your hand on his cheek wiping away his tears with your thumb.
This wasn't what you wanted but you saw no other way. Everyday was a struggle, even breathing hurt. You wanted Neteyam to see what you already accepted. This was a waiting game. You were never going to recover.
"No." He violently shook his head holding you to his chest. "No. You'll get better. We just need to try something else. Please." He begged.
"Ma'Teyam there's nothing left to try."
"Please. You can't leave me." His body shook with sobs. "I can't lose you Ma'Y/N."
You couldn't fight back your own tears. Your mask was fogging as you started to cry. Seeing your mate like this was as painful as your sickness.
"You're not gonna lose me love. Nothing is ever lost, remember?" You tried your best to comfort him.
"There has to be something we can try." He sobbed. "What about an avatar?"
You held his head in your chest while he cried. "They can't make anymore avatars. You know that."
"I can't do this without you. There has to be something." Neteyam wailed.
The sight broke your heart. You had exhausted all of your options. Everyone but Neteyam seemed to recognize it.
"I won't do anything without your blessing Ma'Teyam." You gently caressed his head. "But please try to understand my point of view."
"You cannot ask this of me. I can't." He shook his head.
Gently rocking you soothed the boy in your arms. He had a vice like grip on you as if you'd vanish into thin air. "It'll okay Ma'Teyam." You cooed.
You had informed Norm and Max of your plan. It broke their heart but they acknowledged that it was your decision. They would respect your wishes.
Norm found himself in your room in the middle of the night watching you sleep. It pained him to see your labored breaths. You were always so fill of light and now you looked like a hollow shell.
He'd known you your whole life. It broke his heart to know that your time was running out. It seemed like just yesterday you were a bubbly toddler getting into trouble in the lab.
You told Jake and Neytiri next. For some reason you were terrified of what your in laws would think of you. While this was something common amongst humans it was very rare to the Na'vi.
Jake was once human though. It hurt his heart to see that it came to this but he understood. While his disability wasn't terminal he knew the feeling of hopelessness. The feeling of being trapped inside what once was you. Your body becoming a prison. Jake knew better than anyone.
Neytiri didn't understand why you wished this until she saw you. She couldn't contain her gasp. No longer the child she has grown to care for, you were someone she didnât recognize.
Smiling weakly at her Neytiriâs heart broke for you. She could see that you were dying but she couldnât understand why. It was the great motherâs will that you would stay with Neteyam. Why would she allow you to die so soon?
Then it hit her. The words of her mother. You would spend the rest of your life beside Neteyam. Your life would end before his. Seeing you like this made her realize why you wanted this. You werenât yourself, you were tapped inside a body that was failing you.
Spider was unusually quiet when you told him. âSpider please say something.â You pleaded.
He knew it was coming. Heâd be a fool not to. But he was like everyone else who loved you, he didnât want to believe it was happening. All of his earliest memories included you. You may have only been siblings because of circumstance but he loved you like you were blood.
You were undoubtedly his sister. Always there for him for as long as he could remember. Someone who always had his back. You understood the feeling of being abandoned here and the longing of wanting more. You were his person. And now you werenât going to be here anymore.
Spider stood up and hugged you. He was slightly crying into your shoulder. You had never seen your big brother cry. He was your rock always strong and dependable.
âIâm sorry Spider.â You cried with him.
âHey,â he pulled back to look at you. âDonât ever be sorry. None of this is your fault.â
Nodding through your tears you took in the sight of him. His hair was growing back so fast leaving him with a nice short cut.
âYou know I love you right?â He asked unsure for a moment. He had to make sure you knew. Spider wouldnât be able to live with himself If you didnât.
âOf course. I love you too bro.â
The two of you spent the rest of the day talking about everything and nothing all at once. It would be one of the last times you got to.
When it came to telling Neteyam he already knew. Your confirmation was like stones in his heart. But he knew. Deep down he always knew. You were never getting better.
Being cooped up in your room wasn't much of a life. You were in pain and it pained him to witness it. Neteyam never wished to part from you but this wasn't his choice to make.
He knew that had there been any other way you wouldn't had made the choice either.
You wanted one last day. One last good day.
Looking at your room one last time you shut the door. You had breakfast with Norm and Spider just like you always did growing up. Max even joined you.
No one talked about what was to come. You forbid any talk of the future only wanted to live in the here and now.
Spider helped you put on your mask and the two of you slowly made your way to the village. He helped you into the Sully home. You were terrified of everyone being somber, but to your delight everyone acted as normal.
You hadnât laughed this much in months watching Spider reenact a story of one of the many times Loâak almost got himself killed.
Laughter, hugs, and smiles was how you spent your time with the Sullyâs. It was perfect just like it always was. Neteyam kept you sat on his lap not wanting to lose contact for a second.
Taking a deep breath he inhaled your scent. It had changed when you got sick. It didnât smell like you. It made him frown.
Insisting on going on an Ikran ride you drug Neteyam out of his familyâs tent. Neytiri stopped you before you got too far. Embracing you one last time. âThank you for watching over him my child.â Before you could say a word she kissed your forehead and left you with watery eyes.
Neteyam didnât want to focus on sadness right now. You were still here thatâs all that mattered. Taking your hand once again you were greeted with his Ikran.
âYou sure you feel up to this?â He checked in.
âHell yeah.â You smirked at him.
Flying through air was a feeling youâd never get used to. Up there you were truly free. Sticking your arms out to intensify the feeling Neteyam cursed at your sudden movement. His grip tightening around you.
âLet me know before you do something like that.â He scolded.
âYou worry too much!â You yelled over the wind. âYouâve taken me on a million rides and havenât dropped me yet.â
Neteyam smiled at you. Today you were glowing with a glimpse of yourself. Not the person who had been while sick. The real you. It made his heart clench. It pained him but he knew you were right. This was the right choice.
He would rather see you like this than just slowly waste away to nothing. I wanna go out with a bang. You had told him.
Eclipse crept up on the couple as you laid on the ground tangled up in each other. "I love you so much." You told him tears threatening to spill. He kissed your knuckles. "I love you to the moon and back." He whispered.
Smiling fondly at the memory from what felt like an entirety ago. "I can't believe you remember that." You laughed.
He chuckled. Neteyam had spent years committing every part of you to memory. He found your surprise amusing. Of course heâd remember. He remembered it all.
You stayed in his embrace until you couldn't keep your eyes open any longer. "I'm ready Neteyam." You breathed.
He nodded blinking back tears. "I see you Ma'Y/N." He gently caressed your face the best he could.
"I see you Ma'Teyam." You grabbed his hand. "Don't worry I'll see you again. Take your time my love."
"Anything for you my moon." He smiled.
As gently as he could he removed your mask. Taking a deep breath in you smiled as you inhaled the scents of the forest. It smelt even better than you imagined.
Neteyam laid next to you holding your hand looking up to the sky. You admired the stars before glancing over at Neteyam. He met your eyes and smiled. Your breathes were started to become labored. "It's okay love. You can rest now." He said fighting back a sob.
Your vision was turning black around the edges. Neteyam was talking to you but you couldnât register what he was saying. Slowly your eyes closed. Your chest stopped. Just like that you were gone.
This was exactly how you asked. Neteyam fulfilled every last one of your wishes even if it killed him inside. Your whole life you wanted nothing more than to experience Pandora without any restrictions. And in that brief moment you did.
Neteyam held onto your lifeless body as he sobbed. He knew it was happening but nothing would prepare him for the feeling of you actually being gone.
His love. His mate. His best friend. His moon and stars. Gone forever. You were gone and there was nothing he could do to bring you back.
His body shook as he wailed. Neteyam realized that because you were human you were never connected to the spirit tree. He would never be able to see you again. He would never see you again.
Neteyam spent the whole night grieving you. He knew it was just the beginning of many sleepless nights crying for you.
In the morning he carried you back to home tree. Neteyam insisted that you have a traditional Naâvi burial. It didnât take much convincing as everyone adored you.
His family helped prepare your body. He begged for help not thinking he was strong enough to do it on his own. Once everything was finished they gave him a moment alone. Spider looked up at him with red puffy eyes giving him a pat on the back.
Neteyam spent his last moment with you whispering sweet nothings that you would never hear. Confessions of love that wouldnât reach your ears.
The last time Neteyam saw you, you were lowered into the ground. He tried to stay collected not wanting his people to see him weak. But this was unbearable.
After the funeral his grandmother approached him. Pulling him in for a rare hug she caressed his head Lovingly. âShe is with Eywa now.â She told him.
He looked up at her in shock. You were a human. Neteyam didnât think it was possible for a sky person to be with Eywa.
âShe is?â He asked breathless.
Moâat simply nodded before leaving him. Neteyam took a moment to process this revelation. A gentle breeze blew through his hair. Taking a deep breath he tried to ground himself.
A delicate tap on his shoulder caused him to open his eyes. A single atokirina' had landed on him. It gently swayed around him. He cupped the spirit his hands smiling, tears streaming down his cheeks.
You were still here. There is no death. Only change.

deja vu
neteyam x fem!reader
in which the things neytiri hears from y/n and neteyam makes her have deja vuâŚ
neytiri is fiercely walking towards her eldest son after hearing he took the blame his younger brother again,when she hears that y/n has beaten her to the scolding of neteyam. her ears twitch as she picks up on a familiar saying that leaves y/nâs mouth.
âyouâre like a baby! making noise, donât know what to do!â she stated as she lightly hits the side of his head.
neteyam gently scoffs in annoyance.
neytiri watches the scene play out from afar with a small smile on her face. she realizes that neteyam and y/n are much more alike to her and her jake than she had thought.
âdonât hiss at me! youâre the one that got yourself in trouble in the first place. and thinking you could come here, without getting scolded was stupid. youâre stupid neteyam.â she angrily expressed towards him.
âi donât see why you care so much. it doesnât affect you in any way.â he said as he turns his head to direct his eyes to the ground.
y/nâs ear twitches as he says that. a small growl leaving her throat as she turns around with her eyes wide. she makes slow intimidating steps towards him.
âoh shitâ he thought.
neteyam slowly took small steps back to avoid her wrath.
neytiri saw the look on y/nâs face and slowly moved in toward the two teens to protect her son. however she stopped when she witnessed the next thing.
âwhy do i care for you? why do i care so much huh? well maybe, because the moron i like keeps getting himself in trouble!â she slightly yelled
neteyams eye grew wide at her statement. âshe likes me?â he thought.
neytiriâs eyes widen as well at the confession. she slowly backed away, sensing the two needed this moment alone. she silently turned around and started heading towards her jake to tell him his eldest son might have potentially found someone to keep an eye on him.
y/n kept going on with her rant. her arms flailing around, trying to explain to neteyam how she felt.
â⌠and if you think for one second, that i wonât scold you for acting so irrationally, youâre dead wrong!â she yelled as she continued to rant.
neteyam wasnât listening to a single word she was saying. except he was paying more attention as to how she was so expressive while trying to explain her feelings to him. he had this soft look in his eyes that he had only seen his father give to his mother. if he knew that he got to see y/nâs face like this up close, he would definitely try to get in trouble more often. but he doesnât want to admit that out loud.
y/n slowly stopped her rant as her breath was uneven due to all of the yelling she had just done. she made eye contact with neteyam and realized that everything she said went in his one ear, and out the other.
she sighed and looked at the ground in exasperation.
neteyam gently moved towards her and lifted her head towards him. he slowly leaned in to the point where his breath fanned her lips.
neither of them wanted to move. they wanted to stay in this position to savor the moment. to memorize every detail of each others face.
âplease donât slap me again for saying this.. but when you tell me how worried you are for me, it makes me realize that i only worry you for a specific reason..â he started to say.
âand that reason would be?â she questioned.
âthat I see youâ he answered softly. almost as if he spoke any louder she would turn into dust and float away.
her eyes pointed up as a giant grin broke out onto her face. she then grasped his jaw and finally closed the space in between the two.
the kiss they shared had many hidden emotions that have been bottled up for so long,finally spill out and reveal themselves. this moment was where the two finally understood how the other felt. they continued the kiss until they broke away for air.
slightly panting neteyam says âwe should head back before my mother finds us and tries to send me to meet eywaâ
y/n softly laughs and grabs his hand. she starts to lead the way back home. where the two could finally start a relationship. a relationship where they can understand each other.
as they walk back, neteyam catches sight of neytiri waiting for them. he slightly avoids eye contact in fear of getting punished.
neytiri stares at them for a few seconds before a small smile breaks out on her face. she slowly turns around and heads back to where she had originally emerged from.
neteyam takes this as a good sign and realizes that he mightâve found the neytiri to his jake.
as the two teens continue to walk. neytiri is back inside their home, realizing that her and her jake fell in love almost the exact same way. the two teens gave her a sense of deja vu to when her and jake had met. she would accept y/n if she was the one neteyam chose. in fact, she wants neteyam to choose her.
to think that she witnessed something that was very similar to her own love life.
âhm, eywa must be giving me deja vu to tell me about their possible relationship on the wayâ she thought
and from that moment onward, the two teens formed a beautiful relationship that neytiri and jake accept, since the two remind them of themselves.
MERRY CHRISTMAS (to those that celebrate it) !!once again, i have no idea what iâm doing iâm just hoping it turns out ok! pls let me know if you want certain type of stories or something! writing is kinda fun LMFAOOO ~S
