Some days ago you wrote a post saying that you were writing something using elder scrolls lore? I think? What's that about? Are you writing some au? I'm a bit lost on your most recent fanfics (I'm waiting until I have some free time so I can give nexus a try, I'm just a bit intimidated cause I know next to nothing about DC) but I love reading about your ideas and characters, they all sound so genuinely interesting and we'll writen.

Ohhhh yes, okay so!

Wayyyyyyyy back in the day, there were a bunch of Riddler ask/art/rp blogs, that all portrayed their respective Riddler in very different ways. Some were based on official material (YJ is from the 2011 Young Justice animated series, Arkham from the Arkham City video game, Detective was originally based off the 1992 Batman: the Animated Series, but became highly altered as their storyline continued) some, like Narci, Puzzles, and Nash, were original takes on the character. Swag stared out as a parody that became a solid character as time passed. All of these interacted with each other, and developed into a found family.

Helix (My OC) came along a little later, and began interacting with them. None of us really expected how inextricably involved she was going to become, since she's much more of a high fantasy character, than a DC character, but it all happened pretty organically, and was a lot of fun.

Back then, I started a bunch of creative projects I wanted to share with the writers of these blogs, but I had just ended my relationship with my ex-fiancee, moved back in with my parents, and was working in a pretty toxic environment, and it just slaughtered my creative output. If I were to point you to my old blog, which I shan't, you would see that I drew maybe five or six things in as many years, when previously, I had drawn almost every day.

All of those blogs eventually went silent, the last interaction being between Helix and Narci. Since then, some of them have even been deleted entirely. I forgot about the things I was going to do, and they lay ignored for years. Then I stumbled across my old harddrive, where all these ideas still existed, barely sketched out, partially begun, and it all flooded back. Yeah, those blogs are done, some of the writers have disappeared, it's all over. But those stories are still there, and so am I.

I am in a much better place than I was. I have some writing practice under my belt, and, most importantly, I have inspiration again. I can make the art I always wanted to. I can write the stories I always wanted to. I can finish what I wanted to start.

That all being said, One of the things I started a long time ago, was an elder scrolls crossover. I had also started playing Skyrim at around that time, and it was an idle idea that I thought would be fun. When I found that harddrive, the first chapter had been partially written out, and I ended up taking the ideas there, and going in a different direction with them. I now have an over thirty chapter, ongoing story involving Helix and Swag stumbling their way through Cyrodiil, told entirely through Swag's POV. I've been posting it on my main/RP blog rather than here, because I felt that Helix and Swag's relationship hadn't been well enough expressed in the Nexusverse yet. Almost all of the Nexus stories so far take place in 2011-2013, and this crossover story takes place in 2020, so there's a lot in between that I haven't gone into yet, you know?

But considering that I've been posting some of the later Nexus stories out of chronological order, I might just start posting it anyway. I think it's kinda obvious by now how some of Helix's relationships pan out, so it might be okay. What do you think?

Also, you are very sweet, and I'm glad I've been able to express some of my ideas in a way that others can enjoy them with me. I will warn you, the stories that are from Helix's POV can be a bit challenging to follow; she doesn't experience reality in the same way as most people, which I've expressed with synesthesia and the repetition of consonants, syllables, and vowel sounds in a freeform poem/prose manner. If you do start the Nexus stories at their beginning, you'll see why.

Don't be too intimidated though; most Nexus stories are only 1-2000 words, with the exception of Orbital Unresonanace, which is, admittedly, a chonker. But you've been reading Lasa, so I know you can handle unreasonably large stories.

How would have Transformers Nexus ended if you’ve decided to finish the cliffhanger you left. Would it explain how Nexus Arcee and Nexus Sideswipe ended up in the Autobot academy Universe by the time of the second issue?

To be honest, at the time that comic ended, I was kinda in a weird place in my creative career, and Nexus operated on a "seat of my pants" narrative crafting process. So it probably could've ended with Optimus and Megatron teaming up against Unicron for a final confrontation for the fate of the Nexusverse, or it could've ended with Unicron ripping apart Cybertron. I generally didn't know what end I would've gone with, and to be honest that might've led to the comic driving off a cliffhanger.

As for how Nexus Arcee and Sideswipe ended up in AutoAca... Wheeljack's whole schtick there was using transdimensional portal tech to explore the multiverse there, so presumably they kinda popped into the AutoAcaverse for a mission and they decided to watch some kids wander some woods until Strongarm picked them up. Who knows what they did after that? I certainly don't!

Taking Flight, Chapter 50: Smooth Sewer Sailing

Sorry for being late! I decided to make this chapter a bit longer than usual for two big reasons. One is that we have officially reached fifty chapters thus far. The other reason is that this us the last chapter before things REALLY gets going. I know my audience isn't exactly the biggest, but I'm thankful for those who actually take their time to read these chapters. This is such a fun project of mine, and I can't wait to further expand the Nexusverse as we continue to take flight.

The Brigantine sifts its way through the moldy, slimy, s***y waters of the sewers as Caine lays out some exposition for the newest members of his crew.

Caine: You see, the Mushroom Kingdom was by no means the FIRST on this indeterminately spacious continent. These sewers were actually once part of a MAGNIFICENT MEGALOPOLIS OF MYTH belonging to the long lost Enochian Empire, a city so vast it once encompassed the ENTIRETY of what we now know as the Mushroom Kingdom. Professor Purah and her little kitty have deduced that there should be an ancient trove of treasures located somewhere around here, and has enlisted OUR help to unearth these earthen secrets earthed beneath the earth amidst the earth's turns.

Saiko: And I guess SMG3 is here for the spoils?

SMG3: Hey, we dance, we kiss, we fool around, we get rich, we go home happy. Simple as that.

Meggy: Wait. Did you say Professor Purah?

?????: That's right!

Two young women emerge from the lower deck. One was a platinum haired women adorned with various artifacts, most of which appearing to be Sheikah in origin. The other was a more familiar face.

Tari: Whisk?

Whisk: Heh..... funny running into you guys again, heheh.

The Professor adjusts her mechanical goggles.

Purah: It's a pleasure to meet you. Whisk here loves to talk about you guys. Especially you, Miss Spletzer.

She shoots a teasing glance at her student, who shrinks away with a blush.

Meggy: Huh. If I had a nickel for-

Saiko: Pardon the interruption. What does any of this have to do with the LOCAL CRYPTID THAT JUST TRIED TO KILL US!?

Whisk pulls out a notebook from her bag and gives a quick skim through the pages.

Whisk: Not sure, but some old apocryphal texts do speak of how the Enochians once lived among holy beings that acted as their Guardians.

Tari: So that's why it's down here. It's protecting something. That means the place where we found it........

Purah: ........must be where we need to go.

Saiko: Great. Anybody have an idea on how to kill it? Because we got nothing.

Meggy: I don't think that's even possible. I've never seen anything smaller than a bus tank a wyvernblast shell like that, especially at point blank.

Kinger: Oh! What if one of us just distracts it?

SMG3: Okay, and who would be dumb enough to actually keep that thing's attention?

Mario: Hmmmmmmmm.

Meggy: Mario, no! That wasn't an invi-

Mario: I got it!

With an eager hop skip and a jump, Mario runs off once more. He comes across the beast and kicks it right in the face before running off again.

Mario: Come here, mamaf***er!

The beast's shrieks of rage are nearly harmonious with Mario's babbling as he leads the beast away. Meggy represses her frustration as she turns to the rest of the crew.

Meggy: *long irritated sigh* When life gives you lemons, I guess!

With the beast now preoccupied, the crew is free to resume their voyage. The labyrinth before them expanded farther and farther the deeper they went. SMG3 mans the Capstand with Kinger in the Crow's Nest and Zooble just chilling outside the captain's room. Over at the navigation table, Gangle is sketching in her sketchbook while Caine just looks out into the nothing as he blows his bubble pipe. Whisk and Purah do their best to keep track of where they are according to the diagrams they have on the sewer system's layout. That's when Whisk brings out a familiar looking tablet from her bag. Tari and Meggy watch as a single tap sets the crystaline frame alight.

Tari: Woah. Is that....?

Purah: One of the artifacts she uncovered on your last trip together. A remarkable little thing. She calls it the Tari Tab. It turns out the Sheikah had a similar approach to tech as the Metarunners. After that there was no issue making the Tari Tab operational again.

Meggy: The.... Tari Tab?

Whisk: Yeah! It's a TABLET, which was made by the same civilization TARI is connected to. The Tari Tab! Pretty nice, huh?

Meggy: Yeah. I guess it is pretty nice.

The image of a map appears on the screen. She adjusts the opacity of the image and forms it to the diagram on the table.

Whisk: Miss Purah let me take a picture of this old map from the library. If the layout is right, we should be-

A sudden rumbling grinds the Brigantine to a halt. Meggy and Tari quickly join Zooble and on the top deck.

Meggy: What's going on?

Zooble: Not sure. You see anything, Kinger?

Kinger squints his eyes as he tries to peer beyond the ship, where he sees a large barricade biting into the bow. Beyond them lies a large brick plug that's had a hole blown into it.

Kinger: Looks like we hit a roadblock.

Saiko: It also looks like we weren't the first ones here.

Kinger: I mean, the coast looks clear enough.

A stray arcbolt hits the Crow's Nest, sending Kinger back into cover. A cacophony of Eliksni battle cries echoes out as a flood of Fallen raiders pour from the hole.

SMG3: Huh, I was wondering when we'd see these guys again.

Meggy, Tari, and Zooble all ready themselves for a fight as several Vandals scurry onto the deck. Zooble reforms their body into a formittable armored carapace as her arms morph into a pair of crushing maces. One Vandal has their blades shatter upon the hardened carapace before they are sent flying off the ship with a crushing blow. Several others had their heads caved in by Saiko's hammer. Tari swiftly joins Zooble as she severs the head of one Vandal and blasts another right in the chest. The two both make quick work of the initial boarding party just in time for the next wave. Meggy opens fire upon several Shanks as they lay suppressing fire onto the top deck.

SMG3: HEY, WATCH IT! THIS IS A RENTAL!

More Shanks came flying in as Meggy is forced to get to cover. Two thunderous booms from the crow's nest sends a pair of Shanks tumbling down into the murk below. Kinger loads another fresh pair of shells and takes aim once more. Meggy also seizes the opportunity to load a rapid fire mag before coming back out, laying down a maelstrom of bullets that clears the skies pretty nicely. That's when a large Captain blinks aboard, his arc blades at the ready. Tari is swift to dodge the oncoming blades, whereas Zooble lets their carapace take the hits. A sudden spark can be heard as a radiant arrow flies over Meggy and directly into the Captain's wrist, followed by another flying directly into his skull. Meggy looks back to see Purah with a confident smirk as she tunes her Guardian Bow, all while Whisk can be seen manhandling a Dreg in the back.

Meggy: Wow. Nice shot.

Purah: It pays to be prepared.

Gangle: I-Is it o-over?

Gangle phases up from the floorboards just as the chaos subsides. Caine can also be seen coming up from the bottom deck. He takes off his hat and spills some water out.

Caine: Oh, don't mind me. I noticed some of our inventory was unorganized and it kept IRKING me so I took care of it. ANYWAYS, what did I miss?

Whisk snaps the Dreg's neck with a sudden jerk and tosses the body overboard.

Whisk: Pirate attack.

Tari plunges her glaive into a Wretch's chest, hurling it over her head like a haybail before cleaving another in half. Zooble grabs two of them by the head and smashes them together. They wipe the Ether off their hands and turn back up to Kinger as he takes down the last Shank with another well timed shot. A welcome silence now hangs in the air.

Kinger: CHECKMATE! Coast is clear, captain!

Zooble: Finally. And I thought they smelled bad on the outside.

Now that they mentioned it, there was definitely something "off" about these Eliksni. Tari and Meggy noticed that their spilled Ether was more of a reddish purple than the typical pale blue. It was also much more viscous and caustic, with a consistency and smell akin to rotting fish. A closer look at the bodies themselves showed that their exoskeletons were pale and brittle, with bulbous pustules erupting from the softer spots of the carapace. So much as the slightest touch caused them to burst and spill more of that rancid Ether.

Meggy: Eugh. Smells like expired sushi.

Tari: They almost looked sick.

Meggy suddenly feels something grab her by the ankle. She looks down to see the upper half of a Wretch's body heaving itself towards her as she trips and falls.

Meggy: WHAT THE F***!

Tari quickly hacks off the Wretch's hand before skewering it in the back. The Wretch continues to writhe in a frenzy until a focused blast reduces it to a rancid stain on the lumber. Meggy takes a moment to catch her breath as she shakes the loose hand off her leg.

Tari: You okay?!

Meggy: Jesus Christ, I thought that thing was dead.

Zooble looks down to the discarded hand, its fingers still worming around as it tries to grasp something until they smash it under an enlarged boot.

Zooble: Something tells me these things were already dead. Hey, Three!

He pops out from behind the Capstand.

Zooble: You mind helping hold down the fort until we get back?

SMG3: WHAT!? But what about the tre- um, what if you guys need backup.

Zooble looks over to Tari and Meggy.

Zooble: We've got it covered. We'll let you know when it's all clear, alright?

SMG3: Ugh, FINE!

Whisk: Hey, wait up!

And so the four disembark and make their way through the hole. The other side was VASTLY different from the rest of the sewers. In place of Concrete and pipes, there was now solid marble and ornately carved columns of quartz. The four make their way down the corridor and arrive at an impressive sight. Freshly lit sconces light their way down the old causeway, leading them to the entry of a massive Gothic palace built within the stone. The statue of a man with a crown of glass stood before the entrance, holding his hand towards the main entryway.

Whisk: This is AMAZING.

Meggy: Who would've thought a place like this was part of a sewer system?

Tari: Wait. Do you guys hear that?

Zooble: Hear what?

Tari: SHH! Listen.......

A commotion can be heard within the building ahead. The four silently sneak their way through the halls. Dozens of dead Fallen littered the place, some of which having been bloated to the size of a Hive Ogre. Others had more of those rancid boils growing so large as to cover their backs entirely. So much as the slightest touch would set them off like a landmine. The crashing of flaming metal and sharpened steel came from somewhere just ahead, within the halls of a derelict chantry. The four were surprised to see two large Fallen warriors engaged in combat. One was pale and sickly like the others, with scrapworked armor and a flaming metal sphere hanging off a chain. The other looked like a normal Fallen captain, but with a white cloak and wielding two large swords. One sword was more rectangular and bulky while the other was more sleek and curved.

Meggy: Well, what now?

Zooble: I dunno. Wait it out and deal with the winner I guess.

Tari looked on as the two clashed. Try as the captain might, it's evident that the undead fallen had the upper hand. One solid blow sends the captain skidding back as his shields break. This felt....... wrong. Was she really gonna let another die for the sake of convenience? Her mind said to stand back, but her heart said they needed to act. The captain looks up as the corpse rears up its flail. The captain braced himself as the flaming orb came crashing down......... directly onto a clear blue barrier. He was amazed to see a blue girl standing between the two. She draws her Mace, and with a mighty blow she sends the undead giant hurtling into a nearby wall.

Whisk: Tari!? What are you doing!?

She turns back to the captain.

Tari: You alright?

He gets back up to his feet, shaking off the dust and gravel as his shields begin to recharge. He gives Tari a reassuring nod, and she turns to the others as the undead giant reemerges and lets out an infuriated roar. Zooble just shrugs as their body morphs into a more angled agile form, their fingers twisting into formittable claws.

Zooble: Welp, I guess we're doing this now.

Meggy looks to see whisk picking up an unattended shrapnel launcher. She racks the action on her bowgun.

Meggy: I guess so.

The tables have now turned. The beast hurls its flail at its assailants, but Zooble, Tari, and the captain prove too quick as they dodge swing after swing. Their blades rip gashes into the rotting exoskeleton whenever they get the chance, with Tari managing to land a slice on one of its eyes. The undead warrior howks as its rancid lifeblood leaks from its face, all while Meggy and Whisk take potshots from afar. The beast brings down its flail and crashes it into the ground, releasing a wave of burning Ether to push its assailants back. It then swings the flail above its head and sends burning embers in all directions, prompting Tari to bring up her barrier as the others dodge and get to cover. It lands several frenzied blows into the barrier as it tries to get to Tari. But at the zenith of its swing, Meggy fires an explosive shell into the metal orb. A breach in its shell quickly leads to a chain reaction that ruptures the orb and spills its burning contents all over the warrior. It howls in rage and pain, frantically swatting away as Zooble lands a precision strike on its heels, bringing it to the ground. Tari sees her chance. She tosses up a Blinkblade and warps right above the burning beast before plunging the blade into its back. Right as the beast reels, the captain lunges forward. The blades both meet at the beasts neck. A swift yank frees the beast's head from its shoulders. Tari hops off its back as the lifeless body collapses to the ground. Etheric boils begin to encompass its body. They all stand back and get to cover as the first boil pops, causing a chain reaction that rips the body apart in a single violent explosion. The stench of rancid Ether fills the air. A skeleton and a stain is all that remains.

Zooble: Eugh. Why does it somehow smell WORSE each time?

Whisk: So now that it's dead, does that mean we have to fight the other guy now?

The captain sheaths his blades before turning his attention to the statue at the end of the chantry. In its hands sits a radiant crystal pearl bound within a glass bubble and three silver rings, roughly the size of an orange. All limbs are well used as he scurries up the statue with ease. He carefully plucks the trinket from its hands before leaping off and lands in front of Tari.

Captain: It's yours.

He offers the trinket to Tari. A gesture of good faith, it seems. She reaches out with her robotic hand, appearing to hum and glow as they got closer. She had barely touched it when it started to float in the air. The bubble dissipated. The rings unraveled and coiled around her metallic fingers. The gemstone turns translucentvas it phases into her chest. A new sensation overtakes her. She feels much more alert and in tuned with her surroundings. Every breath cane with a small surging sensation coursing her body. Thin curved streaks of black markings cradled her eye with a line streaking across her cheek and down her neck. Tari looks down to her empty metal palm. A small orb of vapor and frost congeals into her hand. A small light erupts as the orb bursts into flame before finally disappearing with an electric discharge. The crew was stunned.

Meggy: Damn. Nice fireworks, Tari!

Lo and behold, there's Mario standing right there with his eyes at two separate postal codes.

Mario: Who's Mr. Krabs over there.

Meggy: Oh, sorry about him. He can be a bit............ wait. Weren't you supposed to be distracting the Guardian?

Back at Three's Café, the crew rejoices at another adventure in the bag. Mario offers another taco to the now docile Guardian, who snatches it up with its abdominal tendrils before pulling it up into the maw below its chest.

Mario: And that's how I figured out he likes Mexican food. Now we're friends!

Meggy just sits there in astonished confusion. Mario has once again proven his uncanny ability to make the weirdest friends with the power of food.

Meggy: Heh. You really are quite the charmer, Red. I'll give you that.

Lykoa is currently recounting an old story to Whisk and Purah, along with Minion and the Felin triplets. All of them seem eager to learn about what their new friend has to say.

Lykoa: And there I was, surrounded by deadly War Beasts with their razors reared and ready to rip and tear. It's moments like that where I'm glad I still have a few more molts left!

Tari and Saiko just lean over the upper balcony as they watch everybody celebrate, with Kinger up there with them in his pillow fort. Tari wasn't really able to celebrate with what's been on her mind lately.

Saiko: You're certain they were the same ones from the Ketch?

Tari: Their outfits on the undead Eliksni was just like there's. This could be huge. If that crew is here in the Cities, it could mean we could end up seeing that Xelor again here too. And considering what he did last time..........

Her grip tightens on the balcony wall. She still remembers the fresh sting of her scars. Saiko gives her a light rub on the shoulder with a reassuring smile.

Saiko: Whatever happens, we'll handle it when we have to. And we'll do it together.

Tari gingerly places her hand over Saiko's.

Tari: Right............

Saiko: Let's just sit back and smell the roses for a bit. Okay?

Tari nods. Sheclays her head on Saiko's shoulder again as she tries to clear her mind.

Kinger: And don't forget us!

Tari: Hehe. Duly noted.
