#Repost @conbudny ・・・ It wasn’t hard for my little bro to find reasons to run for City Council. Growing up on Bowery and Rivington, he watched our dad close his bodega due to rising rents while our mom hid us under her sewing desk at a Bleeker St. garment factory (where she made 10 cents per finished item, not enough for childcare). But unlike me, my bro was never a street kid. @chrismartenyc was studying at London School of Economics while our mom was taking 9 hour bus rides to visit me in prison. Right now - in a really beautiful way - our worlds are colliding because we both believe in the social and economic justice that c@nnabis legalization will bring New Yorkers. Our mother never could have imagined that one day, both her boys would be featured in @amnewyork … on the same day… in two separate articles… both about c@nnabis. 🤷🏽 CONGRATS @smackedvillage Mamá, sabemos que el cannabis te asusta, pero te lo prometemos: estamos peleando la buena batalla. #newyork #lowereastside #flippinthescript #newbeginning #justice #newyorkcaurdcoalition #conbud #massincarceration (at Washington Heights) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn3twq3uUJj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#Repost @newyorkcaurdcoalition with @use.repost ・・・ “What’s the motive really? You’re getting in the way of guys like myself that got arrested and were targeted, or at least were affected by the most aggressive policing of cannabis anywhere in the world. New York has the highest number of weed arrests than any other city, any country in the world.” #newyorkcaurdcoalition (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmac9Sps57I/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#Repost @newyorkcaurdcoalition with @use.repost ・・・ “It’s crazy because [as a drug dealer] you become an accountant, and human resources, and a general manager,” Hayes said. “All these skills are developed in the streets, at the highest level, and you don’t even know it until you start a real business, and you’re, like, ‘Oh, I know how to do all of that comfortably, because I don’t have a gun to my head, or cops are not trying to fucking break down the door. I can actually think about this and do it.’” #newyorkcaurdcoalition (at Times Square, New York City) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmYDcdjsY2o/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Smdh. @newyorkcaurdcoalition ・・・ Today is a sad day for both families involved and remembering why this market is and should be regulated is critical. At any second our lives can change dramatically and operating in this space with or without a license is extremely dangerous. @nys_cannabis (at Queens, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp-NSLxsNtG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#Repost @newyorkcaurdcoalition ・・・ Yesterday, @newyorkcaurdcoalition members Juancarlos Huntt and Sean McKenzie participated in the cannabis Roundtable,"Leading the Charge: New York Legacy and MSOs Collaborate on CRA & Regulation Evaluation” with Senator James Sanders Jr. With NY State set to open for business in 2023, it is time for a candid conversation with the legacy operators that built the current market in NY State and the current multi-state operators (MSOs) working in the medical cannabis industry in New York State. The event was the second of its kind. True legacy operators in a room with the multi-state medical operators (MSOs)/RO along with cannabis leaders from the government, cannabis attorneys, policy experts, social justice advocates, Cuard applicants, workforce development organizations, and community education to discuss how to make the New York State cannabis industry the most equitable in the nation.
