Katieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Top ten productions in the last 5 years that you've seen?
KAT, STOP BEING MEAN TO ME. Honestly, I'm up to 60-odd productions, and narrowing this down was SO HARD. I peaked in 2018. Except that my NYC trip was in 2017, just a few months past five years ago, so Broadway Backwards and the OBC of Dear Evan Hansen don't count.
That said, here's where we landed. Organized chronologically, to avoid having to pick one single favorite among the standouts. Yes, I am open to follow up questions, and let the record show that "favorite shows I've seen" and "favorite shows" aren't necessarily the same, though that venn diagram is pretty close to a circle.
Under a cut because the list is LONG and DETAILED.
Sweeney Todd â 8 April 2018 This was a local production, with Tally Sessions and Chris McCarrell from New York to play leading roles, and this theatre just always does really really great work. My dad and I made a whole little day of it, and they did a Q&A after, and it was SO GOOD (youâll see this same theatre come up again later).
If/Then â 29 April 2018 Another local production, but not where I live. I drove up to see it with one of my friends. Black box theater (where the stage and the audience are level, so everything is super close up and intimate) is my favorite kind of theatre, and it was INCREDIBLE to sit front row, half a foot away from the action Itâs been like four years and I still havenât stopped thinking about how much I loved the set too.
Newsiesâ 8 July 2018, 19 July 2018 Listen, I just really like local theatre, OK?! My area did two productions of Newsies the same summer, but this one was technically first. All local talent, and SO MUCH OF IT. The guy who played Jack Kelly honestly had NO RIGHT to go as hard as he did. I remember genuinely wondering if he was going to take down part of the scaffolding with how hard he was rattling it during Santa Fe. So good I had to go back and see it a second time.
Last Days of Summer â 14 September 2018 Remember that local theatre from Sweeney Todd? WELL THEY DID IT AGAIN. A world premiere baseball/WWII musical, starring Corey Cott (one of my personal favorite people). The show was FANTASTIC, and they let the audience stay for the cast party, so I actually got to meet/hug him. Also, I was freshly 21, so this was the first time I drank, accidentally. Thatâs a helluva story, but off topic for this post.
Dear Evan Hansen â 25 September 2018 Opening night of the first national tour stop in Denver. Need I say more? OK, I can say more. Uhhhh ⊠check the tag âKatie and Rach: Destination Denverâ for the video I made about the roadtrip to see this show, and the highlights post from the show itself (from back in the days when Rachel and I liveblogged our friendship like hooligans).
The Play That Goes Wrong â 7 April 2019 I mean, you know how I feel about the entire Goes Wrong franchise, and this was what started it all. I saw it on a bad day, but then sat there and laughed for two and a half hours. It was SO fantastic, and Iâve been chasing it down again ever since. This summer, maybe âŠ
Whoâs Your Baghdaddy â 27 September 2019 I saw this one on a last-minute whim with my mom â of all people â because it was the end of September and the show I had tickets for got postponed (yeah, yeah, weâre all very proud of JerJor for being in Supergirl again, but the timing could have been better). It was the only thing I could find on my day off work, so we bought a couple of tickets as I swore up and down that I had no idea what the show was about, so if it was horribly offensive, it wasnât my fault. And then instead it was hilarious and awesome and absurd in the best way.
Bandstand â 19 December 2019 A post-WWII musical about a group of vets starting a band to win a competition. The tour cast was INCREDIBLE, and the show never doesnât give me chills and sobs. Bonus funny story: the community college that hosted the tour stop did a Q&A about the show and the history surrounding it before curtain call, and the professor running that totally spoiled the whole ending. At least I already knew how it went?
An Evening With Jeremy Jordan â 26 August 2021 OK, this is the one that was supposed to be September 2019. Three more delays (JerJor was in Little Shop of Horrors, COVID, COVID) and two venue changes (same local theatre, but it turns out they have more stages than I thought, and we ended up in a tiny event space upstairs from the upstairs. On the list for favorite venue, in terms of being beautiful and intimate and just perfect for the show they put on) later, it was my first indoor show post-pandemic, and it BLEW ME AWAY. Laughed, cried, lived, loved, all of it. A perfect, triumphant return.
Pretty Woman â 10 March 2022 Duh.

the first song i heard from/how i found each of my favorite musicals
(in order of when i found them, ig?)
WICKED ---- Popular. My mom used to be really into theatre too and she used to play Popular, Defying Gravity, and What is This Feeling? around the house
HAMILTON ---- Alexander Hamilton. I heard about the musical from a YouTuber I really liked and I wanted to keep up with her references, so I listened to it and liked it way more than I thought I would
HEATHERS ---- Beautiful. I found Heathers through the same YouTuber and was SHOCKED by the plot. I was, like, 11 when I found the musical
SCHOOL OF ROCK ---- Youâre in the Band. Our choir and band programs went on a field trip to see School of Rock and my choir teacher played one of the songs for us about a week in advance. My dad used to watch this movie with me all the time, so I was excited
DEAR EVAN HANSEN ---- Waving Through a Window. At this point I was the Hamilton Girl (tm) and I was trying to expand, âcause in my head I was a HUGE fake fan. A girl in my choir class sang this song for karaoke so I went home and listened to the cast album
BE MORE CHILL ---- Michael in the Bathroom. I heard this one song and found out my friend liked it. And so I asked if I should listen to it. She was like mmmmm yeah but itâs a bit weird...? I had no idea what she meant by that-
NEWSIES ---- Seize the Day. I heard this song in a Broadway mashup a long time before. Then I saw Newsies on Netflix and LOVED IT with everything in me. I saw a community theater production of it back in February and it was everything
THE LIGHTNING THIEF ---- The Campfire Song. Iâve been a Percy Jackson fan for as long as I can remember and I used to look up âPercy Jackson songsâ on YouTube, until one day I found an animatic. I watched it and was like,,, waaaait a second. So after I saw that I listened to it and it was everything my little theatre/pjo heart couldâve ever wanted. I saw it last winter while it was on tour and low key? I cried afterwards. The cast is so talented
MEAN GIRLS ---- Iâd Rather Be Me. As a Barrett Wilbert Weed stan I found out that she was in another musical, a musical version of Mean Girls. I love Mean Girls so much. So I listened to all of Barrettâs songs, and later on, I listened to the whole album. I now follow all of the cast members on Instagram, Broadway and National Tour, and Iâm OBSESSED with them
WAITRESS ---- Opening Up. I saw some girls do a cover of it and I was like awww...this is cute. So I gave it a listen,Â
FIREBRINGER ---- Weâve Got Work to Do. I went on a MISSION to find the source of the âI donât really wanna do the work todayâ vine. I watched, I fell in love, I also found out they did more
BEETLEJUICE ---- Say My Name. I heard it literally days after it was released and I wanted to listen to all of Lydiaâs songs, since she was my favorite in the movie, and I chose this one first? Then it blew up on TikTok and I felt like it was stolen from me and thatâs probably why I donât listen to it as much anymore
THE GUY WHO DIDNâT LIKE MUSICALS ---- the title number. It was in my recommended once and I watched the first like 3 minutes and I was like mmmmm not feeling it. Then I saw Firebringer + most of starkidâs musicals and decided I DEFINITELY WAS FEELING IT. Also not to brag but I followed Mariah before she was in TGWDLM *cool guy emoji*
IN THE HEIGHTS ---- No Me Diga. I kept saying I was going to listen to it, since it was Linâs show, and then I finally did and I was OBSESSED. Technically, like I said, I heard No Me Diga first because I found it on my recommended at like 3 am on a school night
HADESTOWN ---- Wait For Me (Reprise). Hadestown was BIG when I found it, like at itâs peak. I listened to it after hearing the song, but I wasnât really feeling it. Listened to it again about four months later after seeing Mariah Rose Faith do a drunk cover of the climax in Wait For Me (Reprise) and nowwww itâs my favorite musical
SPIES ARE FOREVER ---- The Coldest Goodbye. I loved Solve it Squad Returns so MUCH and I obviously loved Joey Richter, Lauren Lopez, Brian Rosenthal, and Corey Lubowich, and I only ever heard good things about it. I heard The Coldest Goodbye during a video where someone was ranking TCB/Starkid songs and I was like DAMN I LOVE HER VOICE so I watched it :)

QUESTION OF THE DAY #13: a) What was the first musical you ever loved, and b) What was the musical that got you invested in internet theatre culture? Itâs okay if theyâre the same.
MY ANSWER: a) Dreamgirls followed closely by Hairspray thanks to their movie adaptations, but as far as stage productions go How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying was the first one to really inspire me, b) probably Wicked
SUMMARY OF ANSWERS: so i realized that question a inspired a wide variety of answers, the most popular being Wicked, Hamilton, Les Mis, and Sound of Music. for question b, we had a lot of similar answers, the most popular being Hamilton (around 16/37). other popular ones for question b were Heathers, Les Mis and Wicked. that said, there was a wide variety of other shows too. read them all below the cut!
Anonymous said: Qotd: For the first question either wicked or be more chill (I was 13 and in a stem school with no theater program) and maybe heathers for internet culture.
Anonymous said: i think what got me into musicals would be matilda! my family went to west end while i was then completely clueless about what musicals were so watching matilda like. opened my eyes to musicals! though the first musical i really got into would probably be Hamilton? generic, i know but it was all people were talking about then and the fandom was considerably better back then so i got into it!
Anonymous said: Les mis. I saw the National tour and I fell in love with both the show and musical theatre in general. And Hamilton was what got me into the online community. I was bored and stumbled on it and got sucked in.
zoueriemandzijnopmars said: First musical I ever loved was the studio 100 Doornroosje (Sleeping Beauty in Dutch) musical, it was proshot and I had the dvd (the soundtrack is on Spotify btw). The musical that got me started to get me into internet musical culture was Hamilton.
Anonymous said:Â a) the first musical i loved was mama mia, and b) the musical that got me invested in internet theatre culture was les mis.
Anonymous said: I would say Wicked for both, but I think Hamilton also contributed significantly to getting me into internet theater culture!!
Anonymous said: first musical i loved was into the woods, but (surprise surprise) hamilton got me into internet theatre culture
vordemtodgefeit said: a) wicked was my gateway musical b) also wicked but I really only engage with a fraction of the fandom so, naturally, itâs les mis
thatbookshelf said: The first musical I was seriously obsessed with was a musical of a Dutch children's book series called 'Kleine Ezel' (Little Donkey) when I was about five years old. Exactly two years ago my friend got me into Hamilton which brought me into the musical theatre fandom.
swoopingsilver said: First Musical I loved: Jekyll and Hyde First musical that got me on the Internet: Dear Even Hansen
gaysnekchild said: The first musical I ever loved was Be More Chill, the musical that got me into musicals was Heather's
Anonymous said:Â If we're sticking to live theatre, the first musical I loved was Hamilton. If we're counting movie musicals, it was The Sound of Music by far. Hamilton was my gateway into internet theatre culture but Starkid, ITH and Hadestown are what got me stuck here.
galactic-greens said: Probably Mary Poppins, we had this dvd player that I'd take on road trips and just watch it over and over. But what really introduced me to broadway was Hamilton
a-terrible-pun said: question of the day: the sound of music was the first musical i loved, and les mis got me into the musical internet culture.
Anonymous said:Â Hamilton
Anonymous said: im not ashamed to say that hamilton was the first musical that i actually got into and got me interested in musical theatre, but there are some other ones like musical movies or something that i watched as a kid that i liked too
a-walking-meme said: I don't remember if the first musical I loved was Grease or Mamma Mia bc I used to watch those with my mom but the one that got me involved was Book Of Mormon âš
Anonymous said:Â a) Grease b) Hamilton
Anonymous said: Hairspray was the first musical iâve loved and wicked got me into internet Stan culture
elicardashyanpetermaximoff said: A) Heathers B) Rent
Anonymous said: I grew up watching Jacob and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and other movie musicals. However, I wasn't really aware of musical theatre until I was fourteen, and that was because of Les Mis. Les Mis made me fall in love with musical theatre, and I really began to understand and appreciate the art form. The musical that got me invested in fandom was Anastasia. I've loved this show since 2017, and I've met some of my dearest friends because of it.
Anonymous said:Â 1. Wizard of Oz 2. Be More Chill
sixthstringserenade said: The first musical I ever loved was Les Miserables. And the show that got me invested in theatre culture was either Avenue Q or POTO. Letâs just say Ramin Karimloo was my gateway-drug to theatre.
Anonymous said:Â a) Hamilton, b) Newsies
Anonymous said: The first musical I loved was les mis (it was my high school's musical my freshman year) but the first musical that really got me into musical theater culture was next to normal, which is still one of my favorites
sheepskinjacketclan said: i guess technically the first musical i loved was singin in the rain, since it was probably one of the first films i ever saw and its a classic in my family, but the first stage musical i ever loved and the thing that got me into musical theatre was Wicked when i was like 10. It sort of got me into internet theatre culture, if you count finding friends by commenting your obnoxious pre pubescent opinions on every wicked related youtube video in 2010 as internet culture.
Anonymous said: Wicked for both!
bwaycpunk said: To answer the Q: I ADORED 1776 when I was 10, but the prom musical is literally the reason I'm on Tumblr.
Anonymous said: The Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music have always been my favorite movies/musicals since I was a little kid, but I think Hamilton or Heathers first got me involved in the online fandom...
pinkwelshdragon said: a) The Lion King in London was my first Broadway show, I saw it when I was very young so I don't remember much. b) I'd heard about Hamilton when it first came about, though I didn't listen to it since it wasn't interesting to me at the time. My friends convinced me to listen to it in 2018 and I fell in love with theatre. It was around the same time as when I was performing in my school's production of Beauty and the Beast, so that helped too.
broadwaybabe1000Â said: Ok this is embarrassing but first show I loved is Elf because it was the first 1 I performed in and my first show that got me invested in internet theatre culture is Hamilton.
queenlmno said: So this first show was probably the Sound of Music movie, but first theater show was Newsies. Internet culture was either Newsies or Matilda.
squeak-and-pip said: Hamilton Itâs a really basic answer I know
impastomuse said: A) Sunset Boulevard in 1996, and B) Hamilton
nightofheart said: Does the Sound of Music movie count as first musical loved? If not, Hamilton, and Hadestown for the second question :)
#qotd#not a quote#side note: never feel embarassed about what show got you into theatre! everyone is valid

ship: ralbert
warnings: vomit mention
editing: nuh uh
âPapaaaaaaaa!â Race braced himself for impact as his son, Andrew, barreled into him, knocking him backwards into his husband, Albert.
âLovely to see where your loyalties lie,â Albert smirked, steadying Race before lugging their shared suitcase in behind him. Â Andrew giggled loudly, detaching himself from Race and moving to latch onto Albert instead. Â They had gone for the week on a short trip to Washington DC to teach a few masterclasses at the National Theatre. Â Spot, their best friend and godfather to their kids, had offered to watch Andrew and Emelia while Race and Albert were gone. Â Although, as Race looked around his apartment, there was no sign of Spot, or his daughter for that matter. Â He frowned, concern bubbling in his stomach, but his sonâs excited voice brought him back to the present.
âMissed you guys!â Andrew exclaimed, making grabby hands at Albert, who hoisted the five year old onto his hip.
âWe missed you too, champ,â Albert grinned, smacking an exaggerated kiss to Andrewâs cheek, âDid you have a good time with Uncle Spottie?â
âYeah!â Andrew said, squirming to get out of Albertâs hold and reaching his hands out to Race instead. Â
Race seamlessly took Andrew away from Albert, shifting him onto his hip instead, âIâm glad you had fun, dude,â he said, finally walking to the couch to set down his carry-on bag, âWhere are Uncle Spottie and Emelia, though?â
âMe and Emâs room,â Andrew said, matter-of-factly, âEm isnât feeling good.â
Albert frowned from where he was unzipping their suitcases to put their jackets away, âOh yeah?â
âYeah,â Andrew nodded seriously, âShe was puking all day!â
Race and Albert exchanged concerned glances behind their sonâs back, âAlright, bud,â Race said, putting Andrew down, âWhy donât you go with Daddy to get washed up and Iâll go check on your sister, alright?â
Andrew nodded and hurried off in the direction of the bathroom.
âYou good with that?â Race asked Albert, who was already grabbing a fresh towel from the hallway closet.
Albert made waved a dismissive hand, âI got him, go make sure our daughter isnât dying.â
Race furrowed his eyebrows, âThat was dark.â
Albert shrugged and hurried off to wrangle his son before he flooded the bathroom. Â Race kicked off his shoes and headed in the direction of his childrenâs bedroom. Â As he got closer, he could hear the unmistakable sounds of retching coming from the other side of the door. Â He knocked lightly before entering. Â
âHey,â he greeted softly. Â Spot was sitting on the edge of the bed, one hand on Emeliaâs back. Â His daughter looked incredibly weak and was leaned over the side of the mattress, vomiting violently into a trashcan.
Spot looked up when he entered and offered Race a tired smile, âHeya, Racer, how was DC?â
âIt was pretty good,â Race said, âOnly lost Al once on a segway tour,â
Spot scoffed, âWouldnât expect anything less from that idiot.â
âHe was easy enough to find,â Race said before diverting his attention to his sick daughter, âWhatâs wrong, bug?â he asked, kneeling in front of Emelia and pushing a few strands of sweaty hair away from her forehead.
âDonâ feel good,â She managed, gagging again and pitching forward towards the trash can. Â Race looked up at Spot, who was frowning at Emelia sympathetically.
âPoor thingâs been throwing up since 10:00 this morning,â Spot said, âTried to call you and Al, but I couldnât reach you.â
âHas she just been throwing up, or..â
Spot nodded, âYeah, mostly. Â Complained about being achey, too. Â Iâve been taking her temperature throughout the day, but itâs been normal.â Race relaxed a bit, âOkay, good. Â Thanks, Spottie.â
âYou gonna take her to a doctor?â âIâll probably make an appointment tomorrow sometime.â
Spot hummed approvingly, right as Andrew, followed by a rather flustered looking Albert, busted through the door, wearing his duck wrap around towel. Â Albertâs shirt was soaked and Andrew still had shampoo in his hair. Â Race and Spot cast questioning glances to Albert, who simply shrugged.
âOne second, we were shampooing, the next he was running,â Albert said, wringing out his shirt onto the carpet.
âStop that,â Race scolded. Â Albert held his hands up in mock surrender.
âWhatâs wrong, bud?â Race questioned Andrew gently, who looked slightly overwhelmed by the cluster of people in the room.
âI didnât want Uncle Spottie to leave without saying goodbye,â He said, lower lip starting to tremble.
âHey, whoa,â Spot said, finally moving from his spot on the bed to squat in front of his godson, âI wasnât gonna go nowhere without saying goodbye, champ, but why donât we finish getting you washed up first?â
Andrew nodded, then turned to look up at his fathers with pleading eyes, âCan Uncle Spottie finish helping me?â
Albert and Race raised their eyebrows, amused, âI donât see why not,â Race said, âWeâd better be careful, Al. Â Spot might just steal our children away from us.â
Spot picked Andrew up, skillfully avoiding his soapy hair, âI might just,â he said as he left for the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
âHowâs she doing?â Albert asked, his question punctuated by another retch from Emelia. Â He winced, âNot so good I take it?â
âYeah, we should take her in tomorrow,â Race said, perching himself next to Emelia on the bed, âNo fever, though.â
âThatâs good,â Albert said, sitting in a straddle on the floor beside the trash can. Â He reached up to rub Emeliaâs shoulder, âHey, sweet pea.â
âHey, Daddy,â Emelia said, shakily.
âDid you have a good week?â Emelia nodded and Albert smiled, âI missed you and Andrew.â
âMissed you, too,â Emelia said, yawning.
âGetting tired?â Race asked. Â Emelia nodded, eyelids drooping, âAlright, pea, letâs getcha changed outta these sweaty clothes, then you can sleep.â
âUncle Spottie still here?â Emelia asked, sleepily, as Race helped her into a new nightgown that Albert had gotten from her drawer.
âYeah, Iâll make sure he peeps in to say goodbye, okay?â
âOkay.â
âDo you want me or Daddy to stay with you while you fall asleep?â Race asked, tucking her back into bed.
âDaddy,â Emelia said, reaching out for Albert, who took Raceâs place on the bed.
âAlright, princess,â Race said, leaning down to kiss her on the forehead, âI love you, goodnight.â
âLove you, too,â Emelia curled into Albertâs side, âCan you read me a book?â
âSure, love,â Albert said, petting a hand through her hair, âWhat book?â
âJack and Annie!â
âAlrighty, did Uncle Spottie start a new one with you?â
âYeah, the one with the leprechaun,â Emelia said. Â Albert nodded and turned to ask Race to pass him the book, only to find that his husband was already holding out Magic Tree House, Leprechaun in Late Winter, for him. Â
âThanks, babe,â He smiled, taking the book and tilting his head back slightly for a kiss. Â
Race bent down and pecked him on the lips, âYep. Â Iâma go check on Spot and Andrew.â
âSounds good,â Albert said, opening the book and beginning to read out loud. Â Race took the trash can Emelia had been using and left the room. Â Spot and Andrew were sat at the kitchen counter, playing with Andrewâs Hot Wheels. Â It looked like Spot had successfully gotten Andrew ready for bed, because he was no longer soapy and was sporting his favorite Star Wars pajamas.
âPapa, come play!â He declared, crashing his car into Spotâs, who let out a noise of fake offence.
âThat is no way to treat Mr. Speedsy,â Spot said, hugging the black car he was holding to his chest. Â
Andrew shrieked with laughter and Race smiled at the scene in front of him, âI think playtime is over,â he said, crossing over to the other two, âUncle Spottie has to get home and you, Mr. Hot Wheels, need to get to bed.â
âFive more minutes?â Andrew pouted, sticking his bottom lip out.
âNope, itâs time to call it a night,â Race said, firmly, âCâmon, bud.â Â He plucked his son out of the kitchen chair and used one hand to put the Hot Wheels back in their box.
Spot followed them to the kidâs bedroom, stopping in the doorway and watching as Race tucked Andrew in, âBye Andrew, bye Em,â he called quietly.
âBye, Uncle Spottie,â Both children said in unison. Â
Race crossed to the doorway and pulled him into a brief hug, âThank you so much for watching them this week, man. Â Seriously.â
âYeah, we appreciate it so much,â Albert said, also standing to hug Spot, âLunch tomorrow? Â Our treat?â
âSure,â Spot smiled, âAnd itâs no problem. Â Itâs always a pleasure to watch the munchkins. Â Take care you two and I hope Emelia feels better.â
âWeâll see you tomorrow, thanks again,â Race said, clapping him on the back.
âBye.â
âBye, Spottie.â
They watched as Spot let himself out of the apartment, then turned back to their kids.
âYou go get ready for bed,â Albert said, âIâll finish up with them.â
Race sighed gratefully, the exhaustion from the week finally hitting him, âThanks.â
âIâll be in soon,â Race shot him a thumbs up and left to change into his pajamas, opting to shower in the morning. Â
Twenty minutes later, as promised, a tired looking Albert climbed into bed next to Race, who bookmarked his book and wrapped his arms around his husband.
âThey out?â He asked into Albertâs hair.
âLike lights. Â I got Emelia a fresh trash can, too.â
âAwesome,â They lapsed into silence, breathing in each otherâs presence blissfully.
âI love this, you know,â Albert said after a few minutes.
âHm?â
âThis,â Albert gestured vaguely, âAll this domestic shit. Â I love it.â
Race smiled, warmth spreading through his chest, âYeah,â he murmured, âI love it, too.â

Can I get a male Mean Girls & Newsies ship? So Iâm very tall and very clumsy. I do musical theater and I want to write musicals for a living. My favorite play is 12 Angry Men and my favorite musical is Waitress. Iâm very assertive and confrontational. Iâm protective and value my ambition and intelligence. I wonât let people push me over. However, I try to be a friend to everyone. I have a witty sense of humor. I really like rain, dogs, History, and true crime. Thank you!
thank you so much for being my first ship request!! sorry they took so long (and that theyâre vv long) i just wanted to make sure they were the best they could be!! iâm still pretty new at this, so i apologize if they arenât at their best yet. but i really hope you like them!! (i also didnât know your gender, if you ideneify with one, so i tried keeping it as gender neutral as i possibly could
mean girls:
i ship you with kevin g!!
you and kevin met when regina decided to diss your friend
letâs just say that anyone who was around to witness it was quaking in their boots at the sight of you calling regina âthe love child of satan and a barbie doll, especially since she has the personality of one.â âwhich one?â âyes.â
everyone was fearful for you, but kevin actually found it pretty fucking hot
when you, yes you, decided that the conversation was over, kevin was like âoh shit, this girl is a badass!!â
he knew of you already from some of his classes, but with you being more interested in musical theatre and he in mathematics, you were pretty much out of his orbit. still, he always thought you were pretty cool
so, in class a few periods after, he asked you if you wanted to go on a date with him and you said yes!!
as far as first dates went, yours with kevin was pretty good!! you went to a diner in town where you two talked about yourself and interests
he thought you were absolutely adorable when you told him all about your favorite things like the rain or how much you adore history or how freaking cute dogs are
BUT he knew that he wanted to be with you when he saw your eyes light up with passion as you talked about your favorite shows. like, the way you spoke about how the soundtrack of waitress was so incredibly written or how 12 angry men played on another interest of yours (true crime), well, he just felt that feeling in oneâs heart when they know they really like someone
so yâall eventually got together!!
as your relationship progressed, he saw how clumsy you were. tbh, he found it pretty terrifying at first, but after seeing you trip enough times and get up five seconds later, totally fine, he started to find it kind of endearing.
like, say you ever got a scratch, heâd place that bandaid on top of it and give it a lil kiss and F L U F F
your relationship is also a lot of supporting one another. you cheer him on at the mathlete competitions and him popping up at your shows with flowers after pretty much screaming during your bows
he loves how into those true crime shows you get. tbh, you two probably have marathons for this kind of program and i can almost guarantee you for every episode he says something like âit was the sister, fucking obvious.â and then itâs the sister. do you make bets? yes.
my idea is that one night when you win a bet, you two have your first kiss
like, youâre both just cuddled up under blankets with pizza boxes beside yâall (the betâs probably over the last slice) and you win and get so excited that you get close to his face to rub it in that you were right. SO he just sees how adorable you look at that moment and shoots his shot
it was a shock to you at first, but it was also just perfect that you practically melted
he got worried that he shouldâve asked first but you shut him up by giggling and getting closer to him beneath the blankets
cuddles are a thing and they are constant
wearing his mathlete jacket alL THE FUCKING TIME
debates and insult battles are a thing (usually ends with you victorious and kevin salty bc he canât match you)
he loves watching you destroy someone who acts like a total dick to either you, him, or any of your friends tbh bc it totally turns him on
but the fact that youâre so sweet to others makes him so happy as well. like, you really be standing up for strangers and making new friends like THAT
for your birthday, youâre surprised with tickets to see the national tour production of waitress and IT WAS GREAT!! you got your playbill signed and got to spend a whole day in the city with your favorite person
that day was a day youâd never be able to forget, bc that day let you know how much you really loved this man
âi love you, kev.â
âi love you too.â
newsies:
i ship you with crutchie!!
you were katherineâs apprentice of sorts
you really want to write vaudeville shows (since musicals didnât really become a thing until oklahoma was written) so you have to settle for the criminal section of the newspaper
one very hot day day you were out looking for a story to either write for yourself or give to katherine when you met crutchie
you passed by a dog and were freaking BESIDE YOURSELF with love!! he was a stray and you knew it was probably not a very good idea to try and pet it, but he was just giving you these cute baby eyes (thankfully he didnât bite)
then you heard the sweetest laughter from a couple feet away from you. it was a boy with a dirty face, albeit an adorable face, sandy hair and a leg that didnât seem to be working too well so he had a crutch
âsorry. didnât mean to laugh there.â
âno, itâs okay. i probably look a mess right now.â
âuhh... n-no, youâse actually look pretty nice.â
you two talked for a bit before it started to get darker. before you parted ways, he told you his normal selling spot and you said youâd hope to see him soon. which you did btw bc you went to talk to him a lot
one day, you went back and he wasnât there :(
you didnât say anything to anybody in hopes that he was maybe sick or something, but then you heard about a brawl with the newsboys and got worried.
you went to jacobiâs with kath and even though they were all hyped from being in the pape despite being beat the hell up, you asked a kid with a cigar where crutchie was
âOOoOHh, so YOUâRE the one crutchieâs been talkin about?!â
cue a bunch of teasing from the boys and big blushing/heated face from you before you regain your composure and stand your fucking ground and practically demand to know where he is
they approve
but you were devastated to find out what happened to crutchie!! this made you go: âwhat can i do to help?â
they approve 10X
after the news strike is won, crutchie was released from the refuge. he hugged and was greeted by all his friends, but then his eyes landed on you AND WHEN I TELL YOU THIS BOYâS INFECTIOUS SMILE BECAME 20X BRIGHTER THE SUN SAID âFUCKâ
you threw your arms around his boy and he did the same to you
âi missed you.â
âi missed ya too.â
you pulled back to look at his face, and you could see the need for our approval in his eyes. when you nodded, you kissed. all the boys were loud as hell and iâm pretty sure jack mightâve teared up out of pride a little bc YOU KNOW that crutchie gushed about you to this man
so, your relationship is cute as hell
like, youâd probably spend a few of your nights in the lodge and youâd probably be writing on your notepad and heâd just love your little writing face
also, if you write music for your shows, he would want to hear some of it!!
he loves how smart you are and loves it when you read your work out loud to him before you go to sleep. also loves hearing you give him little historical facts. itâs just something he finds interesting
once again, you being clumsy worries him. it worries him a lot.
crutchie finds it so funny when you sass the boys. ESPECIALLY race. you basically ruin this manâs career on the daily.
but youâre friends with all of the newsies!! which he loves!! itâs important that you and his family get along and you do so thatâs all that matters.
say the delanceys tried some shit. youâd fuck them up with words alone and theyâd scamper like the rats they are.
one day, you sat with him at his spot. it started to rain, and while everyone else on the street started to groan and find a place for cover, you let out a joyful laugh before heading out into the street and just danced
crutchie saw the pure happiness in your eyes as the rain hit your perfect face and let out a laugh of his own
you felt transported back to that day you met, and you skipped over to him and planted the sweetest, most love-filled kiss on his lips
tbh, just a cute fucking relationship overall

top 5 or 10 bootleg moments (any bootleg)
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH VERY HARD im gonna do a top 10 Actual Bootleg moments and then a bonus Top 5 comments made my the people recording because thereâs some REAL good ones
Top 10 Bootleg Moments - note this is only stuff thatâs currently for trade so as not to ruin the magic for anyone else. also note this is NOT in any order
THE FUCKENING GESTURE WILLIAM F. ROLAND DID ONÂ âCRUSH THEM AND LEAVE THEM BEHINDâ IN THE JUNE VIDEO BOOT
mike âdestroyer of chairsâ Faist striking again in the original deh video
MLBâs vibrato on ânipplesâ in the July 30th audio
Lucas Steele WEEEEEEEPING in the Great Comet closing audio
ALSO. UHHHHH. THAT LUCAS LITERALLY HELD THAT ONE LONG NOTE FOR A FULL THIRTY SECONDS LIKE IT WAS TIMED OUT WE KNOW IT WAS ACTUALLY A FULL 30. FUCK!
oh god i cant off the top of my head remember which one but thereâs an mlb evan audio where heâs fully sobbing in the âhow did you break your arm, evan?â scene and then again in the pre-words fail scene and it FUUUUUUUCKED ME UP WOW. EDIT: Sophia reminded me that yes, this is one the act 2 audio of Nick as Jared
in the audio boot of the original BMC cast, Will fucks up a line in Two Player Game and then makes an ADORABLE flustered squeaky noise and George is laughing and itâs really realllllllly cuteÂ
The first time I watched the Newsies OBC bootleg and got to Jeremyâs Santa Fe, I sobbed like a fucking CHILD heâs SO TREMENDOUSLY GOOD IN THAT SCENE WOW and like that particular video was fairly good quality and was zoomed in quite a bit and you could really see his expressions and emotion and he sounded incredible and just AHHHHHH
this isnât a specific Moment but i have SO many bootlegs of Book of Mormon and watching it evolve from workshop to like broadway productions and national tours YEAAAAARS later is SO cool. spooky mormon hell dream changed a lot, particularly, and thereâs a lot of fun little things in the video i have of an earlier preview that are gone, which is cool.
in the scott stangland gromet boot when u can see the Danatole kiss lol
BONUS 5 comments made by people recording/near the person recording:
âWeâre both recording because if it didnât workâŠand we didnât have oneâŠI would KermitâŠâ -person at the beginning of the first MLB Evan audio
âHe looks like a really good kisser. That was my FIRST thought.â -same person, once intermission begins
âHow much money did she win?â â$96,000âłÂ âholy SHITâ - whispered conversation audible on an In the Heights audioÂ
âHOOOOOOO. IâM SHOOK.â -another intermission comment on MLB Evan
ââŠWhat?â -an outraged comment immediately after the sch**l sh**ter line on a deh audioÂ
