Why I hate Golf

This is the Takapuna Golf Course in Auckland, New Zealand.

It is in the middle of Auckland's north shore suburbs.

According to their website, they are one of the most popular golf courses in Aotearoa and have an annual visitor count of 60,000 people. They don't clarify if that is individual unique visitors or recounts, but lets be generous and say its unique visitors. 60,000, not bad.

This is Eden Park Stadium (the little square on the right) and oh look there's another golf course on the left there, ignore that one for now.

Eden park has a capacity of 50,000 people. Ed Sheeran was here earlier this year and sold out the two nights he performed. That's 100,000 people in a weekend all in that little red square. 60,000 in a year no longer seems so great.

60,000 people per year is also only 160 people per day. 160 visitors to a golf course that is 470,000 square meters in area. Now the average property size in Auckland is 500 square meters. So the golf course takes up the area of 940 houses.

940 homes worth of land for 160 people.

And that is Auckland housing sizes. Auckland is horribly designed and very spread out. Let's instead look at Barcelona, considered one of the most well designed cities in the world.

Each red square overlaid on Takapuna Golf Course is exactly 133m in height/width, the same size as each city block in Barcelona, road width included.

There are 23 Barcelona blocks worth of space in Takapuna Golf Course with room to spare. About 640 people live in each Barcelona block, that's 15000 people.

15000 peoples worth of homes and living spaces, sacrificed so 160 people can play golf in a day.

Now this is just one golf course in a big city, what's 15,000 people to a city of 1.6 million, who cares right?

Here is a wider shot of Auckland City.

Those red dots? They're golf courses.

There are 16 golf courses inside the metropolitan area of Auckland City (4 not pictured as Auckland is too spread out to get one clean screenshot). Keep in mind these are not rural golf courses out in the country, these are right beside housing developments and shopping malls. And for the record I could not find a single golf course in the Barcelona metropolitan area, you had to go out into the country before finding one.

So lets multiply that 15,000 people by 16 golf courses?

240,000 people.

With Auckland City's golf courses you could house 240,000 people comfortably with some good urban planning.

That is why I hate golf.

45 Days to send Liam with love and happiness.

To all the fellow Directioners from around the world who are reposting and liking the memorial services of their country and others. I'm so happy to see you all. Especially some of them are old fan accounts on Tumblr, and yes, I recognize y'all. It's like back to 1D time and it feels nostalgic seeing y'all.

It's sad that instead of One Direction Reunion we are connecting at this sad and tragic hour of loss but, for the love we all share for our boys and today for our beloved Liam❤️ I would humbly request fellow Directioners to share your stories about the first you saw or heard the 1D song, been to their concert, met them, they replied to your tweet, also waging war on Twitter for the boys, running hashtags like #ProtectLiam. Everything.

Tells us what Liam means to you and what the band means to you. I know that not everyone is verbally expressive about their emotions, so please don't hesitate to share your love the way you express it usually: through art, poetry, photo collage, video, etc.

I said the Tumblr memorial will be on October 20, but where I come from, in my culture, it is said that the soul of the deceased stays with their loved ones and visits people who love them for 45 days. That means Liam is right here with us, seeing all the love all of us are pouring. It also means he can see us cry and mourn him. My question to Directioners all over the world is, are we going to send him off with tears and sadness? Are we really going to send the man who wanted to make others smile and be happy with our tears and despair? Or are we going to send him with happy memories and love that he so very deserves?

If you are like me who chooses to send him with happiness and love do share your love for him here too because there are many Directioners on Tumblr who are lovers and are currently going through this pain alone with their own set of personal struggles. Liam wouldn't like any single person to worsen their condition because of him.

ONE DIRECTION AND DIRECTIONERS ARE ONE FAMILY. We got each other's back and so do we have this responsibility to our fellow Directioners who are in the same boat as us.

Day 6 OCtober: Past

These two are the characters currently knitting souls for the multiverse. I haven’t figured out their name as of yet. The one to the left is the child of god, and the other is gods creation. God is not our god, more like a creator. He is the creator of their world. They are the creators of my multiverse.

Basic premise behind them is that god created a world for his wife filled with wonderful things, and filled with humans. Humans killed his wife and as punishment he removes their will. His child visits earth against gods wishes (simple teenage rebellion), befriends a girl and vows to show her what love is. This leads to an ever changing plot that sometimes involves Pandora’s box, the Apple, or whatever religious symbolism I’m into that week. TLDR is that humans gain sentience. Gods creation falls in love with gods child. They try to run away but in the end they’re captured.

So now all they have to do is create universes and knit souls in the prison god hold them in. Watching their creations get destroyed for all eternity by an angry god. Sometimes I’ll add a side plot that the souls get taken for some sort of civil war. Nothing is particularly concrete yet.
