I released this track a very long time ago and i think there was something wrong with my stuff that i got from a new dealer, he might've put some fentanyl in my fentanyl or sum shit like that... so i don't really remember what's this track all about, why it was made and what else i can say about whatever... TRACK REVIEW: Holidays - Conan Gray

"But I see it in your face that years have passed, but you laugh exactly the same when I see you for the holidays."

Conan Gray's seasonal track, The Holidays, combines indie and folk elements to create a heartfelt and poignant love letter to friendships past. It opens and closes with the sound of a film reel—memories captured within childhood, forming the idea that we are the main characters in our individual films. Slow piano and guitar meet Gray's melancholic vocals creating the vibe of a coming-of-age film, with whistles and bells forming a festive feel. As a whole, the single comments on the commonality of memories resurfacing during the festive season perfectly encapsulates the grief a person feels for their childhood and the fear of change that accompanies growing older. Gray beautifully describes childhood naivety and the pain of a distanced friendship in his ever-enchanting lyrics, detailing how we remember the tiny details about a past friend which remain the same despite how time physically ages you. To whomever is reading this…

recently I’ve been keen to ambient music and this is my second attempt to make a track under that genre. I love to write but sometimes I think that words can turn a bit overwhelming and those times I like to hear just sounds and music. I never thought I would be trying on something like this but there was a time I wouldn’t believe in anything.

Anyways, this song takes the name after a comment I came across online “I wanna be beautiful like blood on the snow”. I thought to myself -that’s such a gorgeous thing to say, so I made a song right after it. I wanted it to sound beautiful but also powerful and kind of spooky since October is just around the corner! I hope I managed to do so… and if you like ambient music too and want to give it a listen, I hope you enjoy something out of it!

Next Tuesday, I’ll be releasing my second EP - Halloween Is Coming- that’s if I don’t end up hating on every song! This new track is just a little something I was messing around with, nothing to do with the project that’s coming!
