When a community post gets 10 reactions (not counting reactions from the post author) the post author will now receive a notification about those reactions. We want to give some kind of notification when you’re getting reactions, but not for every single reaction (that could be a deluge of hundreds of notifications in our big communities). Let us know what you think!

Community admins and mods will now be asked for a reason when they moderate a comment.

Logged out users, likely new visitors to Tumblr itself, can now start requesting new communities to be put on the waitlist. They will be asked to log in or sign up before finishing.

To celebrate the new folks joining Tumblr from Brazil, we have launched a lot of communities features if you’re in that country, such asrecommended communities in the For You feed and related communities carousels when searching and viewing tag pages in the mobile apps.

Dismissed “Check out these blogs” recommendations are now dismissed forever.

New custom domains were not receiving renewed SSL certificates, and thus not properly accessible. This has now been fixed, and new SSL certificates have been granted to the affected domains.

Archives and custom pages on blogs with custom domains were broken. This has now been fixed.

On web, some dialogs did not disable our keyboard shortcuts while they were open. For example, you could like a post with the ‘l’ key even though a dialog was open on top of the post! This is now fixed.

On web, we were displaying an option to block a community in Activity, which is not actually possible, and has now been removed. Instead of blocking a community, you can simply leave a community.

The community tags section has been updated to make it clearer that they will aid in discovery of your community.

We’ve made a few small design improvements throughout communities. Less wasted space FTW!

A group representing 14 Alberta LGBTQ groups has officially banned Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and the UCP from 2024 Pride events.

Queer Citizens United YYC issued a news release Friday afternoon, saying 14 Alberta groups, including Calgary Pride and Okotoks Pride, will not allow the participation of the premier or UCP at this year’s Pride celebrations.

The group said the ban is in direct response to Smith’s “stated intention to infringe on the rights, freedoms and healthcare of the transgender community in Alberta,” adding the policies don’t “reflect the desires of the gender and sexually diverse” community.

“You may not join our celebrations in June when you plan to attack us in September. Queer rights should not be a political decision. Trans rights are human rights. [...]

I had never given much thought to how I’d die. Two months, two years, two decades- it did not matter. Never could I have guessed this would be my final moments, body shaking and unable to stop myself from sizing as I watched my life flashing before my eyes. Every memory whip past me, body going in and out of the past and present in rapid succession until I could no longer breathe. Still, as afraid as I was, I never allowed my eyes to shut. If I was going to die, I wanted- needed- to see him first. My eyes rolled back, another powerful seizure overtaking my body.

“Y/N!”

I could not muster the strength to come back into my own body yet. On the inside I smiled. I wanted to tell him that I was sorry things had to end like this. That I would miss him. That I loved him. All the words that I was never able to say no matter the thousands of times they were on my lips. I felt hands grabbing hold of me. It was no use, I could feel my body bursting into another ray of light.

“What’s happening to you?” He sobbed.

Finally able to speak, I looked at him. I cemented him into memory. His thin-wired glasses, the color of his eyes, the curve of his cheek, the shape of his lips, and how wet his face was from his tears. If this was the last moment I had with him, I wanted it to matter. Reaching out, I could only hope I had enough time to say something- anything.

“I think I’m dying,” I croaked, head splitting open and body about to be taken somewhere else. Somewhere he wasn’t. “I love you.”

“I-”

But I never got to hear what he wanted to say. For my body was already getting sent back through time. Where? I was not certain, but I knew I was going to die at the end of this. There was no way my body could handle such violent changes. I closed my eyes.

At least I got to say it.

Hypersoft Fest 2024 how does it work?

some people might be new to tumblr or tumblr fest specifically so, to make it a little easier on those confused here's a full layout of how the fest will work!

basics about fests:

a fest is made to encourage both community and creation in a certain community, a group of creators come together to make up themes, prompts, ideas and anything around that to encourage others to make and follow those themes!

we have come together as a group of writers and graphic designers who want to bring these two groups together and get them to work closer together!

our ideas and how it will work

we're going to do that through prompts and themes, these prompts and themes have been selected by both you and us, they will be able to be interpreted by both creators and writers.

what it will also mean is that both writers and designers will be making and writing stuff around the same theme and so you might get inspired by people's writing or posters to respond.

for example, the prompt is 'historical fiction' and a writer makes a little summary about a historical fiction movie that inspires a graphic designer to make the poster for that non existent movie!

timeline:

the fest itself will run for 8 weeks, in total from August 1st until September 28th.

different prompts and aside from this first week the themes will be posted every Sunday. sometimes these will have assets like pngs and palettes added to challenge graphic designers, or literary tropes added to challenge the writers.

if you are unable to finish a prompt before the next one is out that is absolutely no problem, late posts are always okay.

if anything is ever late or you don't feel inspired by the new prompts that is completely okay, this is all for fun you're allowed to pick and choose which prompts you do and don't enjoy.

Brett Archer is hedonistic, devious and charismatic. An expert at filling empty spaces with temptation, his early morning runs and questionable life choices are fuelled by the vodka he promised not to drink anymore. Boredom is the enemy, but novelty is just another drug among many. He knows exactly how to get what he wants, especially when it’s the last thing he should have.

Noah Thurston is refined, charming and not quite as in control as he appears. Still waters run dangerously deep and there are more bodies down there than even he can count anymore. Conscience will always be a stranger, but at least he sleeps better than he used to…sometimes. He can’t stop noticing the details and he’s in it for the moment your heart stops beating.
