ngl, it IS really funny to me to see people in posts about Finn's panel being happy about "having Mike's cluelessness confirmed", because... what exactly would Finn have needed to say for you to think he wasn't clueless? because saying Mike is clueless is literally the only way for Finn to dodge Mike's feelings/sexuality right now

"yes Mike knew what Will was talking about/that Will was hurt/ that Will was crying, he just didn't do anything about it because... uhm..." he doesn't really have a way to explain the van scene without prompting more questions from the audience

i'm personally not very hard set on any interpretation of the van scene. i think it's possible to write the story from here on out with Mike being confused and not sure what to do with it, thinking Will was a bit more involved with everything than he let on, hoping that Will was actually talking about himself etc. a lot is possible from a writing perspective since they didn't give us Mike's pov at all

but the idea that actors would "confirm" an interpretation in a panel is insane to me. they told everyone and their mother than Will was straight for 6 full years. if anyone asked Noah if Will was gay/into Mike post s3 he straight up lied, because it was in his contract. Will being gay and in love with Mike was only supposed to fully get addressed in s4 so up until then Noah had to reflect the popular/heteronormative audience opinion of Will just being behind in development

Finn talking about Mike's opinions/thoughts in scenes that explicitly go out of their way in canon to NOT show us them isn't going to give more information. they went as far as blurring Mike out of the bg in the van scene. Finn coming in to clear up what was actually going on in his head won't happen until the show officially decides to go there on screen

actors will never give away more than canon tells you since they're not allowed to give spoilers

rule of thumb: if a character does smth and it's ominously left unaddressed in the show, the actor will either lie about it or play it off as unimportant in an interview until it's revealed in canon. you'll only get a genuine answer for what was going on if the scene was inconsequential to the plot. like "what did x actually think about that annoying guy they met in the mall" etc.

and how Mike felt about/thought about Will, his best friend, confessing his feelings in code, which was left unclear and purposefully confusing to the audience, is the BIGGEST spoiler territory you could possibly move into right now

You know, I don’t think my anxiety about the whole thing would have spiked at all if I’d seen the new DBB interview and then seen that new promo. Because I would have read it and thought, well, that’s what DBB’s been saying for ten months and there’s still wiggle room in his words, even if the person doing the write up approaches it with a “Tech died” framing. I would have been nervous, but not upset. And then I would have seen the promo and gone, “Yeah, okay, he’s just alive then.”

Wait what's spatort

Ok, so in Germany there is this crime copaganda Show called „Tatort“ (German for Crime Scene). It’s been around since the Dawn of time (1970), and there are well over 1200 episodes of it. It airs every Sunday evening at 20:15 and everyone and their grandma watches it.

The thing with Tatort is that it doesn’t just follow one set Police precinct thingy. There are different teams of detectives, each one investigating murders in a different German city.

„Spatort“ is the nickname of the team from Saarbrücken. There is only one episode of this team per year, and a new one will be aired soon (29.01.2025). This team in particular has the most fans on here due to it’s relatively young cast and overarching storytelling. The episodes are focusing more on the characters than the crimes, which led to another unique thing this team has over some other ones. Frankly insane homeoerotic tension between the two lead investigators. The sad traumatic backstory cop yaoi potential is off the charts with this. And this is not just fandomification or whatever like. The writers have to know what they are doing. The widely shipped lesbian couple already became canon (yeah yeah lesbian cops are a bad stereotype but we take what we can get) so everyone is anxiously waiting for the two main characters to kiss already.

But in short. Spatort is gay cops that we get once a year.

if you could bring back one styling that you think wasn't appreciated in its time or the fans weren't ready for (but are now) or just think should be around again, which would it be? (hard round: something other than TVXQ's "Triangle" styling) (and I already know the #1 is Pink Gumby)

(kicks rock) ok FINE i won't immediately say triangle.........

my first instinct is actually something that DID get its due appreciation: arario!! it was genuinely ahead of its time (both in styling and musical composition), and if vixx hadn't done shangri-la we might never have seen a traditional/hanbok styling trend in kpop. but realistically this is kind of a tough question to answer because most trends in kpop styling have been recycled already in some way. i could say something like we should bring back the goofy looks for the early '10s but realistically that's already happened as much as it's going to without completely reverting silhouettes and clothing construction, which is not going to happen. and also i don't think most of those looks were underappreciated at the time. the most frequent type of look that is oft derided by fans and underutilized by creative staff are the infrequent forays into science fiction concepts. songs like 100%'s beat and more famously vixx's error were quite controversial for no legitimate reason, although honestly i don't remember how beat was received since vixx overshadowed them significantly (justice for 100% actually. the beat styling is better), but considering nobody remembers 100% even existed i'll consider it underappreciated. tbh in the current styling landscape of kpop my beef is less with fans not appreciating a styling (bc fans know exactly jack shit about costuming and will accept anything, even obvious garbage) and more with stylists who are unwilling to actually flesh out a concept. this applies to pretty much everything but i see it most obviously in scifi (and fantasy/horror etc, anything that's not boy/girl next door or school) concepts. one of the few cbs that i do desperately want to have a go around again is obsession bc please god can i finally have ksoo and minseok on the song, but also it's a fantastic concept that got most of the way there, it just could have been so much more interesting out if the stylists weren't cowards.
