Infinite Blue - October 2023 Update
Hello everyone! We've reached the estimated date for when Infinite Blue was slated to be released on Kickstarter. We're not quite there yet, but we have made some great progress. For this update, we'll go over where we're at and give some estimates for how long the rest of development will take.
Artwork
A general overview:
Sprites: Complete
Stickers: Complete
Alternative outfits: Complete
Item art: Nearly 83%
GUI: ~70%
Backgrounds: ~72%
Chatroom art: 88%
CGs: 70%
Some of these won't take very long to complete, such as the item art and chatroom art. CGs will need the longest period of time to complete with an estimated 4-5 months.
Writing
Writing is at about 80% complete. One route still requires some heavy revision, but the others will only need a few more passthroughs to be considered done. This should be accomplished in the next few months.
Music
The new music tracks are close to being finished! The original music from the demo is also getting an update. So we're well on track in regards to music.
Programming
A lot of features have been programmed in already, so the wildcard for this will probably be testing and certain things we haven't done yet, like setting up the currency system. We can't accurately give an estimate for programming, but we'll keep everyone updated as time goes on.
Voice Acting
Once all the scripts are finalized, we'll be able to work on voice acting. This should only take a few weeks to get the files in and ready to be programmed into the game.
So when will Infinite Blue release?
Taking everything into account, we're currently looking at the first quarter of 2024. We're a little disappointed it will be delayed, but based on observation, game delays are pretty much par for the course! And we wouldn't want to rush development, or the people working on the project.
The good news is we have made great progress, and we are on the road to finishing.
Thank you so much for your patience and for all of your support. We know how excited you are for this game, and we are too! We'll continue our monthly updates so you know how we're progressing. Thanks again 💙
Thanks for reading!

Next month is the annual exhibitor showcase Cinemacon where movie studios tout their wares for the very anxious theater owners.
It has already been announced that Sony is sitting this year out, so no info on VENOM 3: THE LAST DANCE, to be released October 25, 2024.
While I assume there will be some changes to the lineup, so far it is shaping up to be:
OPENING DAY: International Day features a screening of Universal 80s series remake THE FALL GUY starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Hannah Waddingham and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who has said in a recent interview that it is a small role) ; directed by David Leitch (BULLET TRAIN, DEADPOOL 2)
DAY ONE: WB pulls up with their presentation "The Big Picture". It will be the first Cinemacon for James Gunn in his position as Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DC Studios.
I expect a song and dance from Gunn about how awesome sauce the new DC film universe will be
I'll believe it when I see it.
Sure to tease SUPERMAN LEGACY which stars David Corenswet as the title character, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUCE
MORE STUDIO OFFERINGS
Also, FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA
, the supernatural horror film THE WATCHERS, directed and written by Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night
, M. Night Shymalan's TRAP starring Josh Hartnett, ALTO KNIGHTS with Robert DeNiro playing a dual role.
Certainly don't expect anything to hear about THE BATMAN sequel other than it won't shoot until 2025. There has been no reason provided, but some say there isn't even a script, others say it was because there were no soundstages available in London to shoot this year.
DAY TWO: ANGEL STUDIOS - The outfit behind SOUND OF FREEDOM.
I suspect they will tease SIGHT starring Greg Kinnear and BONHOEFFER (aka GOD'S SPY) about German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, starring August Diehl, Flula Borg and Clarke Peters.
LIONSGATE: I suspect they will tease Guy Ritchie's THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE starring a pick-a-mix of men for all tastes - Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Hero Fiennes Tiffins
; the action-thriller BOY KILLS WORLD fronted by Bill Skarsgård and costarring Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji (who is working like mad), Famke Janssen and Isaiah Mustafa.
Surely, another Bill Skarsgård film THE CROW with fka Twigs
; THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1, which is the third film in the franchise - doing a bit of FAST AND THE FURIOUS mathing. It stars Madelaine Petsch, Froy Guittierez and Gabriel Basso
At long last the BALLERINA has pliete into the spotlight. This JOHN WICK spinoff stars Ana De Armas, with Anjelica Huston reprising her role from JOHN WICK 2. It's direct by Len Wiseman who directed the UNDERWORLD films starring his ex-wife Kate Beckinsale.
BORDERLANDS, an action-comedy based on the game, brought to the screen by Eli Roth. Starring Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Haley Bennett and Édgar Ramírez, amongst others.
and WHITE BIRD, which is in the same universe as the excellent children geared film WONDER. It was due to come out in 2023 but was pushed back due to the actors strike.
UNIVERSAL / FOCUS FEATURES: I suspect teases for Dev Patel's directorial debut MONKEY MAN. The film was originally slated to go to Netflix but Jordan Peele, under his Monkey Paw shingle, bought it and took it to Universal so it could have a theatrical release. *Granted, Netflix does a theatrical release for most of their films in certain markets, but I get Peele's rationale.
Their Monsters Universe theatrical idea didn't work, but Universal has realized there is more than one way to skin a cat. They are creating a Universal Monsters themed area at their parks and their monster/horror film ABIGAIL is a re-imaging of DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. It stars Alisha Weir, Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens and features Angus Cloud in one of his last roles.
THE FALL GUY most definitely will have a place. Same with THE BIKERIDERS (with Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, Mike Faist, etc.), which was a 20th Century (Disney owned) Film, and even though it was the first major film out the gate ahead of Oscars/Golden Globes' FYC season with a screening and Q&A held in L.A., the studio purposely stalled the engine and towed it off their schedule. It will now be distributed by Focus Features in the U.S., and Universal, internationally.
Other possible teases? DESPICABLE ME 4, TWISTERS, the standalone sequel to the 90s film TWISTERS
, horror film SPEAK NO EVIL starring James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis
, WICKED: PART ONE and Sir Ridley Scott's GLADIATOR 2 with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal.
There will also be a surprise screening; studio unknown.
DAY THREE: PARAMOUNT: Expected: the mixed live-action and animated comedy IF starring Ryan Reynolds, written/directed and produced by John Krasinski.
A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE, GLADIATOR 2 (though this is a co-production with Universal, so maybe Uni will tout it), SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3, the unending production that is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8,
WALT DISNEY: Possible: THE FIRST OMEN, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
, MOANA 2, INSIDE OUT 2, DEADPOOL 3, ALIEN: ROMULUS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD and SNOW WHITE.
CinemaCon always closes out with their awards (which always ties into an upcoming release. Funny how that works.
So far the honourees are:
Star of the Year - Lupita Nyong'o (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
Breakthrough Performer of the Year - Joseph Quinn (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
CinemaCon Vanguard Award - Amy Poehler (INSIDE OUT 2)
Director of the Year - Shawn Levy (DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE)

MANCHESTER IS RED, NEMZZZ IS THE FACE OF THE 24/25 MANCHESTER UNITED HOME KIT
Nemzzz’s rise continues as he is unveiled as the face of the 2024/2025 Manchester United home kit, the start of a long-term relationship between Nemzzz and the club.
Nemzzz unveils his much-anticipated new single ‘Escape’, which lands following weeks of teasing on TikTok with fans already racking up over 50k creations to the single. ‘Escape’ sees Nemzzz lament the pitfalls of money and fame, meeting his evocative bars with producer Zel’s emotive blend of elegant piano trills, stripped back production and icy hi-hats. The single arrives with a monochromatic visual shot by DonProd, featuring Nemzzz alone walking the streets at night and close-ups of a Rolls Royce spliced with photographs of the city. Nemzzz’s most introspective video to-date, ‘Escape’ marks a visual representation of the loneliness that can come from success.
Nemzzz’s ascent is truly unmatched - the rapper is fresh from headlining the Other Stage slot at Wireless this weekend, he also popped out at Nicki Minaj’s record-breaking show at Manchester’s Co-op Live, following his debut mixtape drop in March that landed to critical acclaim and a spot at #17 in the UK album charts. Already chasing the mixtape with two singles, ‘WYA’ and ‘ATM’ - Nemzzz is the most prolific rapper in the game.
Nemzzz wrapped his sell-out second headline UK/IRE tour in May, hitting stages in Dublin, Glasgow, London (with a surprise drop in from K-Trap) and a homecoming show featuring Central Cee at Manchester Academy - Nemzzz’s biggest show to date in the city. Nemzzz has his first tour of AUS+NZ set for this October followed by a sold-out EU tour - dates below.
Nemzzz’s debut mixtape DO NOT DISTURB landed in March to critical acclaim from the NME, The Observer, Fader, CRACK and HYPEBEAST alongside a slew of support from the likes of Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music. Over the course of the campaign the mixtape was spun across BBC Radio 1 with multiple singles topping the A List at 1Xtra, since launch the tape has racked up over 160M+ streams and has maintained a spot in the top 200 official albums chart. The 11-track tape is Nemzzz’s most expansive drop to date, an exploration of how the young artist is shaped by his upbringing and his fame. Marrying bars laced with Nemzzz’s wicked sense of humour, earworm hooks and a raw soulful-drill production - DO NOT DISTURB cemented Nemzzz’s status as the new titan of UK Rap. Nemzzz surprised fans the week after release, unveiling the Deluxe version featuring collaborations with rap heavyweights Lil Yachty, Headie One and K-Trap.
2023 was a massive year for the young star with a consistent slate of releases including his debut EP Nemzzz Type Beat (which was pulled together in just 17 days in a flex of his innate talents) alongside a string of singles including ‘Therapy’ and ‘8AM IN MANNY’ which landed to props from some of the biggest rappers in the world - Drake and Lil Yachty. Last year saw Nemzzz deliver his first sold-out headline tour alongside performances at festivals including Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks and more. With over 180M combined streams in 2023, 500,000 followers on Spotify, 9 Million TikTok views, tips including BBC Radio 1xtra's Hot For 2023, Amazon Music x Hunger Magazine Ones To Watch, No
Signal Class of ’23, Best Newcomer Nominee MOBO Awards 2022, plaudits from Pitchfork, The Face, DAZED, The Guardian, HYPEBEAST, CLASH, Complex UK and NME - Nemzzz is making serious moves.

Recent DreamWorks "announcement" to "release date" movie timeline, a scorecard of sorts...
I'll start with SPIRIT UNTAMED.
SPIRIT UNTAMED: Announced October 2019, released June 2021. Over a year and a half before release.
THE BOSS BABY: FAMILY BUSINESS: Announced May 2017, two months after the release of the first movie. Released July 2021. Four years before release. The date was always some time in 2017, it was only mildly affected by COVID-19 and other minor adjustments to their schedule.
THE BAD GUYS: Announced March 2018. Released April 2022. Four years before release. Originally scheduled for a fall 2021 debut, until schedule adjustments and COVID-19. BAD GUYS once bumped out a movie on the schedule called SPOOKY JACK, which got cancelled completely.
PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH: Announced/mentioned in November 2012. Released December 2022. Ten years before release. However, the PUSS IN BOOTS sequel announced in 2012 - titled NINE LIVES & 40 THIEVES - would be put into limbo in early 2015. The project was rebooted with an all-new story after Comcast's acquisition of DreamWorks, and this development was announced in November 2018, the film itself being announced shortly thereafter.
RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN: Announced in March 2023. Released June 2023. Three **months** before release. The only places you heard of this movie's existence was through scooper sites two years prior. The film had been in some form of development since 2016.
KUNG FU PANDA 4: Announced in August 2022. Released March 2024. More than a year and a half before release. DreamWorks founder/former CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg had announced in 2010 that KUNG FU PANDA was aiming to be a six-film series, but those plans had seemingly changed since the release of the 2nd movie in 2011.
THE WILD ROBOT: Announced in September 2023. Releasing September 2024. About a year before release. One can assume the project began development after the release of director Chris Sanders' THE CALL OF THE WILD in early 2020.
DOG MAN: Announced in December 2020. Releasing January 2025. A little over four years before release.
THE BAD GUYS 2: Announced in March 2024. Releasing August 2025. Over a year and a half before release.
GABBY'S DOLLHOUSE: THE MOVIE: Announced in April 2024. Releasing September 2025. Over a year and a half before release.
SHREK 5: Announced July 2016. Rumored to be in production. It's worth noting that a fifth SHREK was talked about as far back as 2004, and then again in 2014.
MICE AND MYSTICS: Announced October 2018. Status unknown.
RONAN BOYLE: Announced September 2020. Status unknown.
THE BOSS BABY 3: Announced June 2021. Status unknown.
UNTITLED UNANIMOUS MEDIA FILM: Announced September 2021. Status unknown. Unanimous Media is a production company.
--
So what this says is that DreamWorks works rather irregularly these days, when it comes to announcing movies. Sometimes a project is announced, and doesn't make it. Par for the course with a lot of studios, right? But DreamWorks will announce a movie hitherto unheard of, not too far from release date... So when a date is locked on the slate, one can't assume it's for a project they already announced.
For example, I kept thinking RONAN BOYLE would be released some time over the past couple of years, but instead it's been projects that were announced way after it was.
Fun stuff.

TAYLOR SWIFT WINS GRAMMY IN HER CATEGORY.
Taylor Swift made history this Sunday in Los Angeles by winning the fourth Grammy of her career for the album of the year with her "Midnights", at a gala that had women as winners. The 66th edition of the Grammy Awards was held at the Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024.
Taylor Swift manages to make history at the 2024 Grammys by achieving her fourth award for the best album of the year.
In my opinion, it was a very good album, which was released on October 21, 2022. It had a great impact with the girls. His concerts on The Eras Tour were a success as well as his music, which is very good.
MBAPPÉ INFORMS PSG THAT HE WILL LEAVE IN JUNE AND ASSURES THEM THAT HE HAS NOT YET SIGNED WITH MADRID.
On Tuesday morning, Kylian Mbappé took another step in the liturgy of his departure from Paris Saint-Germain after seven seasons. He met with the president of the club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for about an hour in the new PSG sports city in Poissy and, according to sources familiar with the conversation, he confirmed what he had already told him in writing in a letter he sent in May last year: he leaves when the season is over. At the meeting, the specific economic conditions in which the exit is going to be articulated were left pending. It even took months to close the way in which Mbappé will somehow compensate PSG, despite the fact that his contract expires on June 30. When they close that aspect, they will make a joint communication.
I think Mbappé has given Paris Saint Germain a good career for several years. And it's time for him to make his fame and grow up as a professional soccer player in a team more than his level. Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are very well-cataloged teams, however Real Madrid statistically speaking, has more goals, goals per minute, shots on goal, and successful passes.
THROUGH YOUR GAZE, NEW MOVIE!
The love of Raquel and Ares in the literary trilogy of the Venezuelan author Adriana Godoy captured thousands of readers and has also repeated its success on the screen with the adaptations starring Clara Galle and Julio Peña. After its first two installments, the third film entitled Through Your Look reends the audience with the couple who has faced several tests of their relationship. These are facts you should know about the romance film that will be released on February 23, 2024.
I think it will be a good movie, since the first 2 movies were quite good and with an excellent plot. I believe that many people with a long-distance relationship will feel very identified with the movie. Since such a love is difficult to carry.
THE KEY SPRING/SUMMER 2024 TRENDS TO KNOW NOW.
The most talked-about collection at the spring/summer 2024 fashion shows was the one that wasn’t there. Phoebe Philo, yet to unveil the first fruits of her eponymous line, which had been originally slated to debut online in September some six years after she departed Céline, dominated the fashion news cycle throughout the month. As the spring/summer 2024 fashion trends piled up, designers waited nervously to see if their collections would be eclipsed by a spontaneous digital drop from a woman many revere as fashion’s messiah.
Statement gowns are out and discreet chic – buoyed up with wardrobe staples including trench coats, pencil skirts, trouser suits and good jeans – is in. At the fashion search engine Tagwalk, which scanned more than 11,000 images from the spring/summer 2024 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, looks that were tagged “minimalism” were up 46 per cent on the previous spring/summer 2023 season. Logo-tagged looks, meanwhile, were down 52 per cent, while ’90s-tagged looks were up 42 per cent – the latter was also the most searched tag. With the 25th anniversary of the untimely death of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy coming up next year, meanwhile, the Succession-fuelled “quiet luxury” trend is segueing into something that more closely resembles the understated ’90s-New-York elegance of the former Calvin Klein publicist.
In my opinion, this new fashion that is approaching is perfect, I think all women will look beautiful, highlighting their beautiful body. Creating more new styles with the passage of time and looking incredible.

New York Comic Con 2024: Prime Video Unveils Cross and Secret Level
It’s that time of year again when fandoms collide, cosplayers shine, and NYC plays host to the one and only New York Comic Con 2024 (or NYCC 2024 for the insiders). This year's event promises to be next-level, especially with Prime Video's star-studded panels for two highly anticipated series: Cross and Secret Level. If you’re not already hyped, trust me, it’s time to start planning your lineup. Let's dive into what's going down at NYCC, where "nerd" is a badge of honor. Prime Video’s Cross: Aldis Hodge Brings Alex Cross to Life https://youtu.be/MC8cKtqusp4 The iconic James Patterson book series is getting the small screen treatment, and no one could be better suited to play D.C. detective Alex Cross than Aldis Hodge. If you’ve caught him in City on a Hill or Black Adam, you already know this dude brings some serious gravitas. And in Cross, Hodge steps into the role of a forensic psychologist facing not only a sadistic serial killer but also a haunting threat from his past. I mean, if that doesn’t scream edge-of-your-seat, I don’t know what does. Prime Video’s Cross panel will feature Hodge, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, and Ryan Eggold, with showrunner Ben Watkins leading the charge. Expect tons of exclusive content, sneak peeks, and some serious mystery teases. Plus, if you can’t make it to the main stage on October 18, the Cross panel will be streaming live on NYCC’s official site. So, there’s no excuse to miss it—whether you’re there in person or watching in your pajamas from the comfort of your couch. Secret Level: Gaming Meets Animation in a Groundbreaking Anthology If you're more into gaming than detective dramas, don’t worry. Prime Video’s got something just for you. Secret Level is an animated anthology series that blends the worlds of beloved video games and brand-new adventures into 15 jaw-dropping episodes. With Tim Miller (Love, Death + Robots) and Dave Wilson (Deadpool) running the show, this is the kind of series that fans of both animation and gaming have been waiting for. Prepare for wild, imaginative worlds inspired by your favorite gaming classics, but also expect some surprises. The creators are bringing stunning visuals and high-octane action to the screen in a way that feels fresh yet nostalgic. If you’re attending the panel on October 19, room 405 is where you need to be. And believe me, you’ll want to be there. No official comment from HBO or Warner Bros. yet, but the chatter alone has been enough to stir excitement. NYCC 2024: A Must for Fans of Prime Video’s New Slate https://youtu.be/MC8cKtqusp4 So, why should you care about Prime Video at NYCC this year? Because they’re not just delivering fan service, they’re going big. Both Cross and Secret Level have the potential to be game-changers. Whether you're a fan of crime dramas or immersive animated worlds, this Comic Con lineup has something for everyone. And with Cross poised to become a major mystery thriller series and Secret Level flexing its creative storytelling muscles, Prime Video is setting the bar high. If you want to stay ahead of the curve and be the first to know what’s happening in these upcoming shows, NYCC 2024 is the place to be. Final Thoughts on NYCC 2024’s Big Showdown Between Cross and Secret Level, this year’s NYCC is shaping up to be one for the books. Whether you're tuning in live or braving the crowds, there’s no way you're going to want to miss what Prime Video is bringing to the table. Expect exciting new footage, unexpected reveals, and some big takeaways from the panels. Mark your calendars, sharpen your cosplay skills, and get ready for one of the best Comic Cons yet. And remember, when in doubt, Cross it out—just kidding. But seriously, Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross? We're ready.

This 2024 Fall Season on Broadway maybe as exciting as the Spring 2024! Probably the most anticipated actor to come to Broadway is the recent Oscar winner, Robert Downey Jr in "McNeil" at Lincoln Center starting September 5th at The Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The acoustics in this theater should show off the acting chops of Downey, who is a behemoth of a fill actor.
One of my favorite plays returns to Broadway; "Our Town", a play I saw at Town Hall back in the 80's. "Sunset Boulevard", another great show that I last saw in Los Angeles with Glenn Close will be returning to "The White Way". The Bard's "Romeo and Juliet" too will return this fall season. It will be interesting to see how it will be directed. Another great show of the same genre, "Othello" will run in the Spring of 2025 starring Denzel Washington.
Another hugh Hollywood actor will be making his debut on Broadway; George Clooney in "Good Night, and Good Luck" will have its run this fall. "Maybe Happy Ending" will play at the Belasco in mid September. This show could be a sleeper of the Fall season.
As an early treat, three shows are coming this summer. The first has started early previews already: "Breaking The Story" at the Keiser Theatre. A very successful, albeit, short run at City Center "Once Upon A Mattress" will play at the Hudson Theatre at the end of July. "Oh Mary" after a run off Broadway will begin at the Lyceum Theatre June 26th. A fourth show which I didn't include because it opens previews August 29th at the Booth and is technically a kickoff weekend for some limited theater, is "The Roommate" with the great Patty LuPone; it also includes Mia Farrow as well.
"Yellow Face" is also a show coming in September, followed by a slew of shows in October: "Wonderful World", a story about the life of Louis Armstrong, the greatest Trumpet player ever. A musical I just saw at The Morristown Performing Arts Center "The Pirates of Penzance" makes its overdue return to Broadway. This Tony winner cleaned up at the Tony's back in 1982 when it last played. "Tammy Faye" will also begin in October at the newly renovated Palace Theatre.
From the movie, "Death Becomes Her" at the Lunt Fontaine Theatre has had some early buzz in the theater community. In November "Eureka Day" is showing some promise as well. This show will play at the Friedman Theatre. "Swept Away" has not announced an opening date yet and I have not seen a theater for it. This show is being highly talked about as well as highly anticipated. A show I find interesting is "Left On Tenth". I am hoping it is similar to say "Between Riverside and Crazy" Either way, the title is intriguing to say the least.
Being treated to so many great shows this season has spoiled the theater lover for sure. The lineup for this fall looks like it may do the same. Tony judges this season do not have an enviable position. So many great shows, so few awards to be given out. With a plethora of talent, both old and new, we look forward to the new shows slated for this fall season on Broadway, as well as a few off Broadway.
Robert Downey Jr, Lincoln Center, "Pirates of Penzance, Linda Ronstadt, Tony Awards, Oscars, Hollywood, Broadway, George Clooney, J LO, Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet", Patty LuPone, Mia Farrow, "Our Town", Town Hall, New York City, #Broadway Bob #No Bull With Raging Robert, www.broadwayworld.com, Booth Theatre, Nimbus Magazine, Dramatists Guild.

Rethinking New Year’s Resolutions
As the last week in January quickly approaches, I find myself wondering what happened to my New Year's resolutions. Four weeks into the new year, I have already abandoned the lofty goals I set for myself. If you're anything like me, you've also made ambitious promises to yourself fueled by a burst of motivation and the allure of a fresh start. Every year, we pledge to hit the gym regularly, eat healthier, learn a new skill, or finally conquer that ever-growing reading list. But as the days turn into weeks and weeks into months, it's not uncommon for those resolutions to fade into the background. So, why do we continue to set New Year's resolutions, and why do they end up as fleeting aspirations rather than concrete changes?
Why Do We Make New Year’s Resolutions?
For many of us, the start of a new year symbolizes a clean slate and an opportunity to leave behind the shortcomings of the past. This symbolic fresh start is a powerful motivator, fueling the desire for positive change. New Year's resolutions provide a structured framework for people to channel this desire.
Societal norms and cultural traditions also influence our desire to create resolutions. The shared experience of setting goals for the coming year offers a sense of camaraderie and collective motivation. However, the drive to make resolutions for the year doesn't always stem from friendly competition among friends and family; companies also know that New Year's resolutions create potential revenue. Ever wonder why gyms are at full capacity the first week of January? Health and fitness companies use this time to advertise their latest products, services, diets, and workout plans. According to a Forbes Health/OnePoll survey conducted in October of 2023, 61.7% of respondents felt pressured to set a New Year’s resolution (Vinney, 2024). And so, while some people set New Year’s resolutions, others are sucked into them.
Why New Year’s Resolutions Often Fail
Despite good intentions, our resolutions often fail. In fact, studies show that over 90% of New Year’s resolutions will be abandoned within just a few months (Vinney, 2024). Here are four reasons resolutions often fail:
Unrealistic Expectations: One of the primary reasons we often cannot stick to resolutions is that we set unrealistic expectations. The enthusiasm of the new year can lead people to aim too high, setting unattainable goals within an unrealistic timeframe. This sets the stage for disappointment and diminished motivation. Instead, meet yourself where you're at and set smaller, more attainable goals.
Lack of Concrete Planning: Setting a resolution without a concrete plan prevents us from following through on our goals. Many overlook the importance of breaking down larger goals into manageable steps, making it challenging to stay on track. A lack of strategic planning can contribute to feelings of overwhelm and frustration. Instead, be specific about the goals you want to achieve, plan how to achieve them, and implement a timeline to execute steps toward those goals (Chan, 2024).
Failure to Address Underlying Issues: Often, resolutions focus on external changes without addressing the underlying issues hindering personal growth. Ignoring the root causes can lead to repeated cycles of setting the same resolutions year after year, with little success. It is important to reflect on why setting a particular goal is important to you and what has prevented you from changing in the past.
Lack of Social Support: The journey towards achieving resolutions can be challenging, and having a support system is crucial. Without a network of friends, family, or mentors to provide encouragement and guidance, people may struggle to stay motivated when faced with obstacles. Humans are social creatures, and the best way to stay consistent with goal setting is to find a buddy that will empower you and keep you motivated.
Ultimately, you don’t have to set New Year's resolutions if you don’t want to. In the grand scheme of things, New Years is an arbitrary date, and you can decide to make changes at any time of year! After reading this article, you may have decided to let go of the expectations and pressure of the new year. However, if you want to create sustainable change, consider setting realistic goals, creating detailed plans, addressing underlying issues, and building a supportive network. Remember that change is not easy or quick, and achieving your resolutions may take time—stay patient and meet yourself where you’re at.

Comparing the NASA and SpaceX Approaches to Manned Space Flight
A pair of rockets from SpaceX and NASA made headlines in October 2023. Each spacecraft will potentially enable flights with astronauts to the moon and, ultimately, Mars. However, the two organizations have different strategies for achieving the feat.
In achieving orbit around the moon, NASA’s Block 1 Space Launch System (SLS) relies on well-established technologies and hardware, including remnants from the Apollo missions of the late 1960s and 1970s. A pair of solid rocket boosters resembling space shuttle boosters flank a main-stage liquid oxygen- and hydrogen-fueled rocket.
The actual Orion spacecraft that will achieve extended orbit sits at the nose of the main stage tower, with the SLS rockets falling in succession into the ocean, where they will be left unrecovered. The jettisoning of the tower and Launch Abort System fairings occurs after the Orion spacecraft has nearly cleared the atmosphere. NASA will take this approach since it already possesses equipment for this mode. Therefore, the approach is budget-friendly - the RS-25 rocket engines are the same ones that powered space shuttle flights for three decades. While designed for reuse, the Artemis will serve as a one-way mission.
In addition, the Orion spacecraft measures the same dimensions as the classic Apollo capsules. However, it incorporates advanced technologies that enable it to undertake lengthier missions, holding more passengers and with improved communications capacities.
The SpaceX Starship accommodates a larger payload of cargo and people than the Orion. However, the SLS rockets have a one-time use limit and various components within the Super Heavy Boosters reuse capabilities. When it separates from the boosters, the Starship’s pathway will meet up with the Orion spacecraft and shuttle astronauts to the moon’s surface.
Moreover, the Raptor rocket engine powering the Starship consists of a new design intended for reuse, with minimal maintenance and repair needed between flights. Unlike the RS-25, which features four heavy-duty engines, the SpaceX Heavy Booster utilizes 33 engines that fire off simultaneously. Each generates much less power on blast-off, which provides versatility and allows for the relatively painless replacement of engines.
Launching on November 16, 2022, NASA has already completed an unmanned Artemis I mission, representing the SLS and Orion’s first space endeavor. The SLS generated 8.8 million pounds of thrust compared with 16 million pounds achieved by SpaceX’s Starship. NASA aims to send four astronauts into orbit around the moon, with the Artemis II mission planned for 2024. It might land on the lunar surface within a year or two of that second mission.
Interestingly, the two projects have many intertwined elements. SpaceX has a contract to build equipment such as a $4 billion lunar lander for NASA and is slated to fulfill a $53 million contract focused on spacecraft fueling technologies.
A final key difference between the NASA and SpaceX approaches is that the latter relies on an agile model that embraces failure as an essential step of innovation and allows for rapid testing and prototyping. The failure element came into focus on November 18, 2023, as the Super Heavy first-stage booster experienced an explosion over the Gulf of Mexico. The plan had been to take the two-stage rocket ship 90 miles into space, just shy of orbit, and return it intact to the Starbase launch site in Texas. However, the explosion represented the second such failure in less than a year, resulting in the loss of the rocket booster-mounted Starship. It will generate Federal investigations focused on avoiding this type of costly event a third time.

The cryptocurrency world is gripped with anticipation as the legal battle between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple Labs takes another twist. Following a recent court mandate, the XRP community has ignited conversations around the potential for a settlement in this landmark lawsuit. But what are the odds, and how could each scenario play out? Let’s dive into the details.Judge Analisa Torres, presiding over the case, has compelled both parties to hold a physical settlement discussion before the pretrial conference slated for April 16, 2024. The court’s specific language called for both parties’ counsel to “meet in person for at least one hour to discuss the settlement of this matter.” The question remains: will this finally pave the way for a resolution?Possible Outcomes in Ripple LawsuitJeremy Hogan, a partner at Hogan & Hogan Law Firm and a prominent voice in cryptocurrency, recently broke down the probabilities of various outcomes in this protracted legal conflict. According to Hogan, there are primarily three possibilities:OVERVIEW: The Judge issued a "Summary Judgment" and denied an (early) appeal.The SEC has a 100% right to appeal when the whole case is finished and that will happen when there is a "Final Judgment."As you will see, the SEC has no real good options. Jeremy Hogan (@attorneyjeremy1) October 8, 2023 SEC moves forward with a trial against individual defendants (39.456% chance): Hogan notes that the SEC would have to wait until 2027 for a final resolution if they opt for this route, making it a highly unattractive choice.SEC settles against individual defendants and obtains a Final Judgment against Ripple (32.113% chance): Hogan believes this would be the most efficient way for the SEC to get to an appellate court, potentially resolving the case by August 2026.SEC settles all litigation against Ripple and individual defendants (18.987% chance): Despite being the least likely scenario according to Hogan, this route would be a ‘win-win’ for both parties, giving the SEC another feather in its cap and allowing Ripple to move forward.Hogan has also set a specific date for a potential settlement, marking it for December 21, 2023. While the odds are less than 20%, the possibility has set the XRP community abuzz with anticipation.Community SpeculationsAside from Hogan’s expert analysis, the XRP community has been rife with speculations. Influencer Jenny Q has opined that a settlement might not be on the cards despite Ripple having the upper hand. Adding to this mix are rumors suggesting that the SEC and Ripple are already discussing a settlement.Regardless of the outcome, this lawsuit could set a precedent for how cryptocurrencies are regulated in the United States. The SEC has faced many criticisms for its overreaching stance on digital assets, and a loss could significantly alter its approach in future cases. Conversely, a win for the SEC could usher in a new era of regulatory scrutiny for cryptocurrencies.!function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s) if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function()n.callMethod? n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments); if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0'; n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0; t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)(window,document,'script', ' fbq('init', '887971145773722'); fbq('track', 'PageView');

Release Dates Are Never Concrete
I'm sure we all know the story at this point regarding ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE... Which ostensibly is coming out on March 29, 2024...
It's become clear that it's likely not making that date... And if that entire Vulture article is true, an allegedly very strenuous and unethical production of ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE... It makes one wonder why BEYOND is dated for this coming March, and why it *still* is...
Over the years, I've learned that release dates are really not for us or even audiences...
The release date, more often than not, is to whet the appetites of investors. To tell them what to expect, and to get them all excited about what's coming in a certain fiscal quarter. Businessy business stuff, ya know?
As tempting as it is - exing away all the context of ACROSS' production - to be bummed about the inevitable release date change (I see the movie feasibly opening some time in 2025, given how Herculean both of these movies are from an animation standpoint), at the same I'm like "it wasn't ever guaranteed for 3/29/2024 anyways." Just like how ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE wasn't guaranteed for its original April 2022 bow, or its October 2022 bow... And when it was still slated to be an October release, that's when its teaser debuted. December 2021 was when that teaser came out... Complete with the "Part One" subtitle that was later dropped...
I'm used to it, too. I remember, at age 12, seeing the CARS teaser trailer before THE INCREDIBLES. November 2004... A movie I waited a year and a half for: FINDING NEMO came out May 2003, and had the first ever teaser for THE INCREDIBLES before it... I was in fifth grade when NEMO was released, seventh grade when INCREDIBLES landed... So, that was already a long wait for kid-me for the new Pixar movie. With CARS? Only a year... Then, a month later, Pixar delayed the movie from its original November 2005 slot to June 2006. I remember being a little miffed about that, like "Ahhhh, I have wait longer for that?" That date change also pushed RATATOUILLE out of 2006, and into 2007. Domino stuff. The usual in animated movie slate changes. So INCREDIBLES came out when I was in seventh grade, CARS when I was leaving middle school altogether. Just wanted to share that old story for a giggle.
Speaking of Pixar, I'll also always remember when THE GOOD DINOSAUR... Very close to its projected May 2014 release, got delayed all the way back to November 2015 following the director shakeup and subsequent near-complete restart of the project. No trailer had been released for the movie, but footage was previewed to attendees of the 2013 D23 Expo.
And of course, there are scores of DreamWorks movies that got delayed, plenty of Disney Animation films, ditto other studios.
Heck, remember when INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE - back when it was being referred to as "Animated Spider-Man" - was once set to come out in July of 2018? Before moving back a few steps to December of 2018? With fellow Sony Animation production HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3 taking its original July slot?
Happens quite frequently...
