3. Hi! I'm looking for a specific fan fiction i remember that both wwx and lwj has lived a long and happy life and now they think it's time for them to leave the world lsz is very upset and doesn't want to let his parents go they go upto a field to fall asleep or smth, there was also wwx telling lwj how tired he is, I've been dying to find this one

4. Hello! I'm in desperate need of help. I'm trying to find this one fic where NMJ gave WWX Baxia since he couldn't wield her anymore. I remember a scene where he was struggling with her but then JC(?) told him he was still using sword forms so he needed to find a different way. Thank you so much in advance!!!
FOUND? Lynchpin by ShanaStoryteller (Not Rated, 103k, WangXian, JC & WWX, Time Travel, Fix-It) WWX definitely ends up weilding Baxia in Lynchpin, and there's a scene about WWX creating a new Sabre sword style.

5. Hii, I'm looking for two wangxian fics that I unfortunately don't remember much about. A) The first one was one where the war was solved and WWX joined DafanWen, I remember that Dafan's robes were pink/peach and I think DafanWen became a medical sub-clan of Lan.
B) The second one was a post canon where WWX basically adapted to life in Cloud Recess. He learned to knit and I think the fic had a tag that had to do something like "something about gender roles". @canisirio

6. hi this is for fic finder!
i think this is starts when wwx is still in the burial mounds with the wens and he's called? because lwj is sick like literally in bed, unconscious with fever sorta sick. I think it turned out to be a curse or smth related to his golden core!
also another fic, also these two fics coild be the same so I'm not sure
it could've been related to the first request, I kind of remember wwx sacrificing or getting harmed to save lwj and then all the Lan elders kind of give wwx a new core in the caves in cloud recesses
this is really messy, I'm just trying to say that I remember these 2 points and they could be in 1 fic or 2 different fics
thank you sm @bunnycoffeeumcat

7. Hi. I am looking for a fic where Baoshan Sanren knows about Wei Wuxian’s fate but cannot directly interfere. Instead she raises Mo Xuanyu as a cultivator and Talisman Master who helps Madam Jin keep Jin Ling safe in Lanling Jin before leaving for the Imperial Exams. Before he can reach, he is assassinated by Jin Guangyao. Wei Wuxian then wakes up in the body and decides to write the exams, becoming a high ranking minister. The emperor takes an interest in the cultivation world a few years later.

8. Hi! I'm looking for this fic where wwx and lwj are thrown into an arranged marriage together, and don't know each other. Wwx is generally happy and excited, and lwj sees this and immediately hates him, bcoz he wanted a calm, quiet spouse to live with. The whole thing is orchestrated by Madam Yu, who basically abandons wwx at cloud recesses bcoz she figures he would be miserable here. Lwj doesn't like him to or try to understand him, so wwx slowly gets more and more depressed and suicidal, kind of as a parallel to Madam lan. I think he tries teaching for a while, and he's very good at it, but the elders step in and claim he's corrupting the children, so that's that. He finds the yin iron, and plans to destroy it worth a circle that will also take him out along with it, but before he can go through with the plan lwj realises how depressed he is and starts making an effort to help him. The fic ends with lwj offering to run away from cloud recesses with him, and wwx telling him no, he doesn't want to be some sort of shameful indulgence, if lwj really wants him he'll stay and fight with the elders on his behalf @arsonistbydaylibrarianbynight

9. Hi! For the next Fic Finder, I’ve been trying to find a fic where LWJ leaves the CR to go help WWX in the Burial Mounds. It kind of starts of with LWJ and WWX confrontation after WWX rescues the Wens. There’s a sequence where LWJ is gathering stuff to take to the Burial Mounds. Then in later chapters it’s LXC, LQR, and a couple of Lan Elders going to Yiling to try and bring LWJ back to the CR. They find him in Yiling, selling produce, only to discover that LWJ is living a happy life with WWX and is no longer following Gusu Lan’s rules as he lets a bunch of kids decorate his hair. Sorry this is super long. I can remember what happens in the fic, but for the life of me I can’t remember the title. Thanks a bunch!

10. hi - i’m looking for a f/f wangxian fic. lwj and wwx start as friends but there’s obvious sexual tension (wwx still thinks she’s straight, and keeps “baiting” lwj). lwj lives near her mom, and she bikes to visit her with wei ying. there’s a scene where wwx is wearing novelty panties with a weed leaf on it? and wwx turns out to have nipple piercings which makes lwj go insane? eventually wwx is like “i may not be a woman but you’re a lesbian so you can’t love me.” and lwj is like. nah. i love you?

11. Hi! This is for fic finder. I honestly dont remember if it was a fanfic from this fandom or a chinese bl novel i red years ago. It didnt help that i dont remember much of the story. I will call them mc and ml (if it was a fanfic, wwx is the mc). They are an actor. The mc got a big role and there are a sex scene in the film with the ml. And then the mc catch a feeling to the ml. The plot of the movie they shoot is where the mc always running away. The movie plot kinda resobate with the mc feeleng. And the writting style is tell a twi stoey. The movie plot and the fic. Long story short, the mc get kidnapped. I dont remember if its trully happen or the movies's plot but i think the mc was genuinely kidnapped. The kidnapping is meticulous that make people tell the ml to brace himself for the worst case scenario. The ml helped to find the mc. In the end, the mc is found but in the bad shape. Near the end of the story, they are in shooting where the plot is the ml found the mc. They hugged and the staff say that it feels genuine.
Im 80% sure its a wangxian fic. I read that around 3-4 years ago. Thanks! @idontknowwhattowriteforusername

It was about WWX who died (supposedly in his world, devoured by corpses) but he travels to another dimension, he thinks it was because of the Stygian Tiger seal, and finds another version of himself that was from that dimension. There is a specific scene where WWX (modern) teaches WWX (cultivator) how to use the shower and WWX (modern) talks about Su She who was his boyfriend and such. In the end, Huaisang reveals that the two WWX have the same DNA and that he has never seen an identity of him. / oi, podem me ajudar a achar uma fic, (hi, can you help me find a fic,) It's from wwx that he dies and travels to another dimension, where he meets another older wei wuxian, this wwx (modern) is investigating a case of dead people, there's a scene where they take baths together (Wwx (modern) teaches wwx (cultivator) how to use showers) and wwx talks about his jerk ex-boyfriend who was su she, there's a specific scene where wwx (modern) confronts su she (ex-boyfriend) he (modern wwx) meets lwj who was a teacher of something and they end up getting close.

got anything for good swordfighting descriptions?
Ooh, interesting! I genuinely had to do a lot of research on this, so let's see!
First of all, keep in mind that because fights in general tend to be quite fast paced and aggressive, simple and short sentences should be used in order to demonstrate the intensity of the match.
Secondly, there's no need to explain everything that happens. Not everyone is going to be particular about every single attack, and sometimes it's better to describe the moment as a whole. In this case, it's preferable to use longer sentences to break up the consecutive usage of simple sentences. Let's look at an example real quick!
The two sped up the tempo of the duel until the only thing that could be seen were two blurs--one of black and one of white. The colors clashed ferociously, reflecting the nature of the fight.
You can probably tell that I'm rather new to writing swordfighting scenes, but hopefully this example can help you get an idea of what I mean! I'm being descriptive, but of the whole moment in general.
Thirdly, I'd definitely do a bit of research when it comes to the vocabulary that may be used in describing the fight. It's also important to establish the fighting styles, and the proper vocabulary will help you form them! Additionally, being aware of what types of swords they're using and how they function is crucial! Some swords are heavier, some have different blades; these all play a part in the fight and can determine who has the advantage.
Next, it's important to establish any weaknesses or strengths of both parties. If they're around the same level and highly-skilled, they will try to take advantage of any weaknesses or pressure them into positions where the other can't use their stronger abilities. Experience is also very important. An experienced yet less skilled fighter can actually beat a more talented but newer one. This is because experience helps them understand the fight better and if they're really good, they can even predict future moves.
Pacing is also something you want to pay attention to when it comes to a fight because if it goes on for too long, your readers may start to lose interest. On the other hand, if there's a big conflict and it ends in a paragraph or so, it definitely went too fast!
Finally, and this is more personal, but I would write down the thoughts your character may be experiencing during the scene. This is because during a close fight, they need to concentrate. Recording their thoughts when they're incredibly focused reveals a lot about your character and how intense the situation is!
I really, really, really, hoped this helped! I'll be sure to do some more research on this topic in the future, but hopefully this'll do for now! Thank you so much for asking!
Happy writing~

Why did Jack keep Evil Befall?
Unlike his teammate Zeo and Toby, who also endured the arrangement, Jack didn't change Beyblade despite changing philosophy. I wanted to dive deeper into why it makes sense for him to keep it.
"Well if we have to speak in terms like this, then i have indeed been, reborn my friends."
Jack (Beyblade Metal Fury: The New Stricker is Complete!-Episode 118).
Symbolism is very important in MFB and inexorably links bladers with their beys, and Jack is no exception. Befall is a peacock, which symbolizes beauty. Jack himself is obsessed with beauty and wants to find a suitable blader for his art, like Tsubasa. He has no desire to fight bladers whom he considers not artistic material. Jack is, in a way, quite superficial. Another, and more important, concept that the peacock represents is rebirth (life and death). In Metal Masters, Jack used the souls of others to bring his art to life (as seen with Klaus' state at the end of episode 89 or when he told Ryuga that his work only needed a soul to be over).
"-Now for the finishing touch we must add the soul. -The soul ? -An eye… An eye called L-Drago that is."
Jack and Ryuga (Beyblade Metal Masters: The Dragon Emperor Descends-Episode 93).
Eyes are a window to the soul after all, and the motifs on a peacock's tail are reminiscent of eyes. Jack himself covers half of his face with a mask. In a way, he hides the person he was before, and at the same time, it shows the missing part of himself, of his soul that he sold to Ziggurat for power.
In Metal Fury, Jack removed the mask; he even said that he was reborn. Which is true: he combined who he was before and during the arrangement while tossing away his insanity and craziness (the result of him having lost his mind/soul).
Comparing this evolution to Toby and Zeo's shows that they could no longer keep Tempo and Byxis. @sky-of-dusk established that Tempo and Byxis were objects they figuratively needed: Toby, who was dying, needed more time, and Zeo, who was lost, needed direction. However, after the destruction of Hades Inc., they no longer required those. I would add that Tempo and Byxis are objects and tools that anybody can use in their everyday life. Yet, Toby and Zeo are not tools anymore; they were freed from Ziggurat. Toby's Lyra is reminiscent of Orpheus, but it is also an instrument. Learning how to play an instrument can be long and time-consuming; similarly, Lyra is not an easy Bey that anyone can master, as stated by Masamune. An instrument isn't a commodity; it is an activity that is fulfilling for the mind and spirit: it symbolizes that Toby recovered his mind that Ziggurat tried to steal, but his body, his style, scarred, as seen with his white hair (and the MF tip that Lyra shares with Ziggurat's Capricorn). Zeo replaces his compass with a fox Beyblade. Foxes are wild animals, part of the canidae like the dog; Zeo is not a dog; he is free. Yet, unlike Toby, his mind is still impacted more than his body. The face-bolt of Spiral Fox emulates the kitsune, a fox-like creature that deceives humans and hides its true nature. The energy ring is blue like Spiral Capricorn, highlighting a more symbolic link between Fox and Ziggurat's Bey. Zeo hides his trauma because, more than Toby, he remembers everything starting with the pain. In the end both were greatly impacted by the Spiral Force event as demonstrated by their use of the spiral fusion wheel.
The point I am trying to make is that Toby and Zeo were scarred and traumatized, while Jack didn't go through the same path. He enjoyed the arrangement, and he liked the person he became because of this, which is in direct contradiction to Toby and Zeo's experiences. As a result, he has less reason to change Bey since he will not associate Befall with bad events.
Finally, I would conclude by saying that Benkei had a similar experience: He was given Dark Bull by Doji but kept it. He even told Shinobu in Zero G that it doesn't matter who gives you your Bey; what matters is what you do with it. Also, the way Jack got Befall is similar to how Benkei got Bull: They were given by a member of the Hades cult, trying to use them as pawns for their greater ambition. In the scene, they also reference their constellation and instantly take a liking to their new Bey, "which specialize in upper attacks". Also, Jack is the only member in Star Breaker to directly get his Bey with Ziggurat present. Furthermore, Bull and Befall share some similarities: the colors are close (red and pink), their Fusion Wheels are named after something negative (Dark and Evil/Killer), their Spin Track is their most iconic/important part and emulates a part of their BeyBeast (horns for Bull and wings for Befall). Finally, the EWD tip is considered an "evolution" of SD (Dark Bull's tip), since Nightmare Rex another beyblade goes from the SW145SD combo to UW145EWD. The most important thing is that Jack truly bonded with Befall, as seen in the Destroyer Dome, like Benkei bonded with Bull.
So Jack kept Befall because it works symbolically and for his character.

Muse Disc Guide - The Resistance [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
The Resistance
IN MUSIC Having established themselves as a stadium-class national band in the UK, their fourth world tour took them to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. They conquered five continents. Having gone as far as they could musically with their last album, it was interesting to see what direction Muse would take next, but this time they decided to venture into new territory by self-producing without using an outside producer.
So far, each album has evolved to become more dense, more exaggerated, more massive, more dynamic, more varied…… at times it leaves the listener shaken, wondering, "Can they pull it off this far!?" How far will they go without a third party to stop them? This album, which we greeted with such expectations and a touch of anxiety, was surprisingly clear-cut with its finish.
After a barrage of songs that mastered electronic elements in a modern way, such as electro-glam (1/ Uprising), 80s-style synth drums and piano with a gorgeous chorus (2/ Resistance) and R&B-style electropop (3/ Undisclosed Desires) that reminded me of Depeche Mode, the following song (4/ United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)) turned into a magnificent and grandiose rock opera. The Arabic music-like interlude with piano and strings in the middle of the song is full of power! This was a result of making use of their experiences in the Middle East. The final section leads into Chopin's Nocturne No. 2, a development that might not have been possible if an outside producer had been present. Similarly, the last three pieces are three-part rock symphonies by Matthew. His classical taste is on full display.
The relatively unprocessed infusion of all three tastes from the trio balances the overall ups and downs of this album, which is generally dominated by mid-tempo songs, except for (6/ Unnatural Selection) and (7/ MK Ultra), where the heavy, intense guitars explode into a gallop. The album became a worldwide smash hit, to the surprise of the band themselves, who said, "We did whatever we wanted." —Sumi Imai

2009 Hit Albums
Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga were the stars of the 2009 scene. Michael was scheduled to perform 50 shows of 'This Is It' at London's O2 Arena from July 13th, 2009, but died suddenly on June 25th. While the world was in a state of surprise and sadness, the documentary film of the same name, featuring rehearsal footage, became an unprecedented blockbuster hit. Meanwhile, the momentum of 'The Fame', released by Gaga in 2008, continued unabated, and the eight-track 'The Monster', released in 2009 as a coupling (A/ The Fame Monster) to the reissue of 'The Fame', was also a big hit, including 'Bad Romance' and 'Telephone' with Beyoncé. Beyoncé and other female artists were also in high spirits, with Grammy winners Taylor Swift (B/ Fearless) and KE$HA constantly making noise on the stage. It was also in 2009 that Susan Boyle, a plain middle-aged Scottish woman, attracted attention on the popular audition programme ‘Britain's Got Talent’ and made her long-sought album debut with ‘I Dreamed a Dream’.
Among rock bands, U2 (C/ No Line On The Horizon), Pearl Jam, Green Day, and Jets released new albums one after the other. Among young artists, Animal Collective's (D/ Merryweather Post Pavilion), The Horrors, and Grizzly Bear attracted attention with their new releases. Among solo artists, the young UK singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini's (E/ Sunny Side Up) and Canadian Michael Bublé's (F/ Crazy Love) were big hits. The latter in particular appealed to a wide audience and was a huge success, topping the album charts in the US, UK, and other countries.

IN LYRICS
Inseparable from this album is George Orwell's 1984. (2/ Resistance) is about forbidden love under surveillance and information control, and (4/ United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)) about perpetual war to maintain the power of the rulers (the title is taken from American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski's 1997 book, The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives). Both clearly follow the world of '1984', but in fact the lyrics can also be seen as a reference to the ‘crisis of the moment’ in the sense that they illuminate the geopolitics of post-9/11, with today's controlled society in which individuals and their information can be monitored from every angle, from CCTVs to satellites on the ground and eventually the internet network. The lyrics can also be seen as a reference to the ‘current crisis’. (1/ Uprising) and (7/ MK Ultra), which deal with mind control, also encompass a similar worldview, but at the same time Matthew tries to present a critical perspective on the crisis and hope by confronting the unshakable will and love that lies beyond it, in a situation where the ‘individual’ is being lost. This is the deeper meaning behind the song titles ‘Uprising’ and ‘Resistance’.
"Love" is also the warp of the lyrical universe, with occasional moments of overt expression. In an interview with Q magazine, Matthew says, ‘It's a personal song about me and my girlfriend’ (3/ Undisclosed Desires), which is a typical example of this. The song is Muse's version of a ‘hymn to love’, a sublime love song.
When I heard the news that Muse were to perform with U2's The Edge on stage at Glastonbury in 2010, it occurred to me that ‘The lyrics of both bands share a common language of “protest” and “love”’. Matthew's world will continue to grow in scale within the time axis of ‘now’. —Abe Kaoru

What do you think of Baylee aka the statue?? I wanna know cause he’s my bfs favorite and I’m curious with your thoughts and aus :3
Baylee's mah baby ngl LOL
He's really an underrated character and I wish he got a little more attention. I really like his og polo (the one with the gray) and the one from the remake too. The gray gradients really help establish the statue-look! And I love the style of his hair lol. For the remake, the floating head is creepy as shit and I LOVE IT SMMMM <3 <3 <3 He lowkey had a glow up. I wanna hug him and the bot on Character.ai of him that asked if he could hug me helped me accomplish this so hell yeah, we love hugging sentient statues
Also Baylee is such an adorable damn name for a male, it's so innocent and sweet. Fun fact about him in my AU, when I first every found Baylee it was before he had an official name and it was in a Tiktok video that's been lost to the void (I'm gonna recreate it lowkey) and it had the caption "spit yo shit Troy!" and then it said "Troy:" and showed a clip of Baylee doin his thing. So I named him Troy! Until he got the name Baylee, but I really liked both names so I decided to make it his middle name, so he's now Baylee Troy :3
His og sound is absolutely superb too, it sounds like someone knocking from inside a statue. and the high energy and tempo of it in the joyed mix is just AAAAA I love it so much it is such a vibing beat. And the way his sound for the remake is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BUT IS STILL A BANGER AND GOES WITH THE VIBE OF A STATUE WITH A FLOATING HEAD??? Bro Baylee does NOT miss we love Baylee we love Baylee so much
The only thing I don't like is that one remake. It just... removed a lot of his key details and oversimplified him. I didn't like a lot of the redesigns for the og Orin Ayo tbh ldjknfkldjb and his was honestly probably at the top of my list for worst redesigns LOL-
I just really don't like this version it doesn't feel like Baylee. The gradients really did a lot for his design and he just feels flat without them
Also for my AU! The cult gave him half-assed legs to get around on (when they promised good ones), so he kinda just waddles around with no arms. It's like tying your knees together and trying to walk, that's how he walks. He is a huge sweetheart, a very kind soul, and had a quiet crush on one of the other patients that he formed a friendship with bc this particular patient was the ex of Tab's new partner, so Tab and this patient had beef that made the patient feel bad about himself. Baylee has a small grudge against Tab because of that, but aside from that he's very sweet and kind to all.
Here is my art of my version of Baylee! <3

Roundtable Presentations: Aladdin (1992)
In what ways does the film's score situate the story with its narrative context?
The score makes extensive use of Middle Eastern and Arabic musical influences to establish the setting of the fictional city of Agrabah. Composer Alan Menken incorporates instruments like the oud, duduk, and ney to lend an authentic ethnic sound and flavor to the music. This helps transport the audience to the film's Arabian setting. It also uses musical themes and motifs to represent key characters and narrative elements. For example, the heroic "A Whole New World" theme is closely associated with Aladdin and Jasmine's blossoming romance, while Jafar's sinister intentions are conveyed through ominous, minor-key musical cues. These thematic associations help guide the audience through the film's story.
How do songs use character performance to push the cultural authenticity in the film's diegesis?
The songs in Aladdin also use character performance to enhance the cultural authenticity of the film’s diegesis. The film mostly showcases kind of an energetic, campy-comic flair that evokes the spirit of classic Hollywood musicals. On the other hand, Jasmine's solos are more introspective, contemporary-sounding ballads that reflect her personality and desire for agency, as she lives overprotected under her father's wing.
The music in Aladdin goes beyond just setting the scene. It borrows heavily from Middle Eastern musical traditions. This is clear in the prominent vocals, a common feature in Middle Eastern music. The instruments used, like percussion, strings, and wind instruments, also mirror those found in the region. Even the melodies themselves are crafted to evoke Middle Eastern music through the use of chromaticism and ornamentation, which helps capture the unique musical qualities of that part of the world. It's important to remember though, that despite the inspiration from "One Thousand and One Nights," Aladdin remains an American animated musical at its core. The music reflects this by blending these Middle Eastern influences with classic Broadway elements.
In what ways does the film use musical "framing" to structure the score within familiarized styles?
The entire story itself is presented as a performance by the Genie. This echoes the traditional concept of a frame narrative, where a story is told within the context of another story. Musically, this is reflected in the opening number, "Arabian Nights," which establishes an exotic, Arabian Nights-inspired soundscape that serves as the backdrop for the film's musical journey. Within the Arabian Nights frame, the songs incorporate familiar musical styles from various cultures and eras—which in my opinion, goes against the whole point of making this an "Arab musical film." Similar to when they make Latinx musical films from, for example, Mexico, but they include songs or influences from many Latinx countries.
Moreover, "One Jump Ahead" uses a Broadway showtune style with a fast tempo, kind of emulating Aladdin's frenetic life on the streets. On the other hand, “Prince Ali" is a big, bombastic production number with influences from Bollywood and pop music, and A Whole New World is a romantic ballad with an orchestral sound, reminiscent of classic Hollywood musicals.

The reggae pioneer and record producer Jah Shaka, who has died suddenly in his late 60s, was a giant of the British sound system scene. In a career that lasted more than 55 years, he transformed the sound system landscape with a distinctive and idiosyncratic style, eschewing the dominant trends to focus exclusively on contemporary reggae that was spiritually uplifting and politically relevant, presenting the music as a means of inspiration and empowerment for the disenfranchised and oppressed.
At the many dances he held in diverse underground spaces, playing on an ancient and archaic Garrard turntable in a trance-like state, Shaka would chant messages of encouragement as well as exhortations of transcendent devotion to Rastafari, adding custom-built effects and live percussive elements to increase the dramatic tension.
Through his masterful use of components such as a pre-amp, a syndrum and a homemade siren box, he made the sessions visceral and immersive, boosting the subsonic bass frequencies at regular intervals to create a transportive and transformative experience. He reinforced this shamanistic persona by not revealing his given name or other details of his personal life.
An integral part of the black community of his home base in Lewisham, south-east London, during the late 1970s, Shaka deployed a sonic wizardry that made a dramatic impact on the post-punk music of Public Image Limited and the Slits, whose members were then among the few white attendees of his dances. Broader audiences became aware of his importance when he appeared in Franco Rosso’s evocative 1980 urban drama film Babylon, playing himself at a south London sound system session as the action draws to a climax.
Jamaican reggae subsequently underwent dramatic changes during the mid-80s as the dancehall style came to the fore, its output largely preoccupied with lasciviousness, violence and frivolity. British sound systems inevitably embraced the new style, but Shaka opted to become a lone voice in the wilderness that kept the roots reggae flame burning, advancing an up-tempo homegrown variant that became known as UK Steppers.
With a backing band he dubbed the Fasimbas after a local activist group established in response to the discriminatory treatment of black children in the British school system, from 1980 Shaka also produced original music with upcoming unknowns such as African Princess and Sister Audrey, as well as self-produced work.
He went on to produce reggae vocalists such as Bim Sherman, Johnny Clarke, the Twinkle Brothers, Max Romeo and Horace Andy, and released an impressive series of dub albums, including collaborative works with Aswad and Mad Professor. In the same period he ran a three-storey community hub in New Cross, known as the Culture Shop, which acted as a focal point for local black youth and housed a record store, a Caribbean food outlet and a Rastafari-oriented hair salon.
Although his record productions did not achieve much mainstream success, they were consistently popular with his core audience, and, more importantly, the uniqueness of his sound system would ultimately inspire acolytes such as Iration Steppas and Zion Train, as well as various sound system operators across the world.
Shaka spent his infant years in rural Clarendon, south Jamaica, before his parents moved the family to the UK in 1956 in search of betterment. They settled in south-east London, and it was while attending Samuel Pepys comprehensive school that he began an apprenticeship on the local soul sound system Freddie Cloudburst, beginning in 1968 as a “box boy”, helping to transport and set up the speaker boxes.
Later he ensured that the amplifiers and speakers were functioning properly, and finally became the resident selector to showcase work by Nina Simone, the Temptations, the Drifters, Diana Ross and other Motown acts. Then, after being inspired by activists such as Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and Angela Davis, as well as his overarching Rastafari faith, he formed his own sound system in 1970, which he named Jah Shaka after the Zulu king.
Armed with exclusive dubplates and a powerfully commanding presence on the microphone, Shaka soon began building a name on the sound system underground, triumphing at many a sound clash. But along with the accolades came tensions with the police, who raided a dance he held in Brockley, south-east London, in 1975, beating attendees and damaging his equipment.
Undaunted, Shaka established a residency at Phebes nightclub in Stoke Newington, north London, in the late 70s, followed by another at Club Noreik in Tottenham, and was crowned the top sound system at the Black Echoes reggae awards in 1980 and 1981. His audience widened during the 90s, when he enjoyed a popular residency at the Rocket, adjoining the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University).
Shaka made his first pilgrimage to the African continent in 1984, and established the Jah Shaka Foundation in Ghana in 1992 to distribute medical supplies, library books and other materials to schools and medical clinics. He also undertook charitable works in Ethiopia, Jamaica and Kenya.
His extensive touring schedule took him throughout Europe and to Japan, Africa, Mexico and Peru. He became a regular festival headliner while mentoring his son, known as Young Warrior, who became a leading sound system practitioner and record producer in his own right.
Noted for his stamina and for presiding over all-night sessions without a break, Shaka continued to command large audiences at events in the UK and abroad.
He is survived by his extended family.

Thelonious Monk: Architect of Jazz Innovation and Uniqueness
In the rich tapestry of jazz history, the name Thelonious Monk stands as a beacon of innovation, unpredictability, and sheer artistic brilliance. Born on October 10, 1917, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Monk emerged as one of the most influential figures in the world of jazz, leaving an indelible mark on the genre with his distinctive approach to composition and improvisation. Step into the enigmatic world of jazz with our Thelonious Monk-inspired T-shirts, a sartorial ode to the timeless eccentricity and musical genius of the legendary pianist.
Early Years and Musical Upbringing
Thelonious Sphere Monk's musical journey began in his early childhood. Raised in New York City, Monk's exposure to music came primarily through the church, where his mother, Barbara, served as the church organist. Monk's early interest in the piano was nurtured by his family, and by the age of 11, he had already begun to showcase his prodigious talent.
Innovations in Jazz Harmony and Rhythm
Monk's impact on jazz is perhaps most prominently felt in the realm of harmony. His unique approach to chord voicings and dissonant intervals challenged the conventional norms of the time. Monk's compositions, such as "Round Midnight" and "Blue Monk," are characterized by their unconventional harmonic structures, marked by angular melodies and unexpected chord progressions.
His use of dissonance, often incorporating clusters of notes played in close proximity, created a sense of tension and release that was revolutionary in the jazz landscape. Monk's harmonic innovations laid the foundation for future generations of jazz musicians to explore new possibilities in tonality and expression.
The Pianistic Genius
Monk's distinctive pianism is immediately recognizable. His percussive and angular playing style, coupled with his penchant for dissonant chords, created a sonic signature that set him apart from his contemporaries. The rhythmic complexity of Monk's playing, characterized by unexpected accents and pauses, added an additional layer of intrigue to his performances.
His influence on piano technique and style extended beyond his compositions. Monk's idiosyncratic approach to the instrument, with his use of staccato accents and unexpected pauses, challenged the conventional norms of jazz piano playing. His innovations continue to resonate in the work of countless pianists who have drawn inspiration from Monk's groundbreaking style.
The Birth of Bebop and Monk's Role
The 1940s saw the emergence of the bebop movement, a revolutionary shift in jazz characterized by rapid tempos, complex harmonies, and intricate improvisation. Monk played a crucial role in shaping the bebop sound, collaborating with pioneers such as Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. His compositions, including "Well, You Needn't" and "Epistrophy," became emblematic of the bebop era.
While Monk's contemporaries were often at the forefront of the bebop movement, Monk's own unique contributions were sometimes overshadowed. His compositions, though revered by fellow musicians, did not always find immediate commercial success. Nevertheless, Monk's uncompromising commitment to his artistic vision and his refusal to conform to established norms set him apart as a true innovator.
The Legendary Monk Quartet
In the mid-1950s, Monk formed the legendary Thelonious Monk Quartet, a group that featured John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Wilbur Ware on bass, and Shadow Wilson on drums. This quartet, often hailed as one of the greatest in the history of jazz, produced some of Monk's most iconic recordings.
The partnership with Coltrane, in particular, was a meeting of two musical giants. Coltrane's fiery and expressive playing complemented Monk's idiosyncratic compositions, creating a synergy that elevated both artists to new heights. The recordings from this period, including the album "Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane," are celebrated as masterpieces of jazz collaboration.
Monk's Compositional Legacy
Thelonious Monk's compositions have become an integral part of the jazz repertoire. His tunes, characterized by their memorable melodies and intricate harmonic structures, continue to be studied and performed by musicians around the world. "Round Midnight," arguably Monk's most famous composition, has been recorded by countless artists and remains a jazz standard.
Monk's compositional style was rooted in a deep understanding of the blues, and his ability to infuse bluesy sensibilities into complex harmonic settings contributed to the enduring appeal of his music. His compositions often featured unexpected rhythmic twists and turns, keeping both musicians and listeners on their toes.
The Jazz Vanguard: Monk's Impact on the Genre
Beyond his contributions as a pianist and composer, Monk played a pivotal role in shaping the broader landscape of jazz. His unapologetic commitment to originality and innovation encouraged other musicians to explore their own unique voices. Monk's impact extended beyond the confines of bebop, influencing the development of post-bop, free jazz, and avant-garde jazz.
Monk's insistence on individual expression and his rejection of musical conventions opened doors for future generations of jazz artists to embrace their creative instincts. His influence is evident in the work of avant-garde musicians such as Cecil Taylor and Ornette Coleman, who drew inspiration from Monk's fearless approach to musical exploration.
Challenges and Recognition
Despite his undeniable genius, Monk faced challenges in his career. His unorthodox playing style and sometimes unpredictable behavior led to periods of public misunderstanding. In 1951, Monk's cabaret card was revoked in New York City, a setback that restricted his ability to perform in local venues for several years.
However, Monk's fortunes began to change in the late 1950s and early 1960s. With the support of fellow musicians and growing recognition of his artistic contributions, Monk experienced a resurgence in his career. In 1964, he appeared on the cover of Time magazine, a significant acknowledgment of his status as a jazz innovator.
Later Years and Recognition
In the latter part of his career, Monk continued to tour and record prolifically. His later albums, including "Monk's Dream" (1963) and "Criss-Cross" (1963), showcased his enduring creativity. Monk's impact on jazz was further recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997, a fitting tribute to his lasting contributions to the genre.
Monk's Persona: Quirks and Eccentricities
Thelonious Monk's persona was as distinctive as his music. Known for his distinctive sense of style, which often included distinctive hats and sunglasses, Monk's onstage presence reflected his offbeat approach to life. His penchant for abrupt pauses during performances, as well as his sometimes enigmatic behavior, only added to the mystique surrounding the man and his music.
Legacy and Influence
Thelonious Monk's legacy endures not only through his recordings but also through the impact he had on the evolution of jazz. His uncompromising commitment to originality and his fearless exploration of musical possibilities continue to inspire musicians across genres. Monk's influence can be heard in the work of pianists ranging from Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea to modern innovators like Brad Mehldau.
Monk's compositions remain a rite of passage for jazz musicians, a testament to the enduring power of his musical vision. His contributions to jazz harmony, rhythm, and composition have left an indelible mark on the genre, ensuring that Thelonious Monk's legacy will resonate through the ages as a testament to the boundless possibilities of artistic expression in jazz. Embrace the avant-garde flair of jazz with our Thelonious Monk T-shirt, embodying the quirky elegance and groundbreaking creativity of the legendary pianist.

"The Movie In Progress" — A Review of Volcano by Jungle
by La Roza Negra (They/She)
Having always been big on discovering new music for myself and sharing it with my friends and community accordingly because not only do I have a deep-seated love for music, I've always considered myself open to new possibilities. So color me surprised when a Band/Production duo that's been making music since 2013 barely finds my ears a decade later, with a sound that's still so striking and inventive that I'm able to feel genuine surprise?
Without too much knob-slobbing on the subject because I really had THAT much of a good time, I had the absolute privilege of exploring the mind of Jungle, with their August 2023 release of Volcano, a body of work I feel can only be described as a soundtrack to a contemporary love story, and I'd like to take you through the story I envisioned track by track. Let's get into it, shall we?
1.) Us Against The World
For starters, the choice to open a traditional album which is a rarity nowadays with not only a whole song but one that's three and a half minutes long at that is a very "hit the ground running approach that comes off as ballsy, but it definitely paid off.
The track rings so strange sonicaly from the quirky bassline that immediately calls you to attention, to the song itself and the instruments selected to accompany the track, and the choice of vocal effect's to play up the raspiness in the singer's voice juxtaposed with the clear/clean background vocals & overall vibe of the song. It feels like a moment of escape and playful liberation from reality, which is represented as well in the choice to go with jazz and modern/contemporary choreography as the dance styles of choice. As styles, both are very fluid, expressive, and improvisational in execution, the driving force being the song's overall theme versus the rhythm like most styles, often having to feel your way through. What's worth noting is that it requires immense control (and in some cases the yield of) to freely move your body in such manners, which adds a lot of context to the experience of the music.
This song is the beginning of a story where we meet a character and discover their personality but also establish that they're on what is to be a city escape of sorts, noting the importance and cultural context that disco was developed in spaces with predominantly people of color. We open with our players and Main Character (referred to as MC henceforth) and company embark on the beginning of their adventure, likely making their way through town, whether it be a shopping excursion, preparing for a big event, or just an excuse to be outside. There's wandering that happens in this song and uncertainty to where you'll land.
youtube
2.) Holding On
First and foremost, let me commend the seamless transition between the opening track and this one. It both fits the narrative (which we will get into later) and sonically raises the energy from the room, as this is a party song.
The tempo of the song, the pulsing kick drum and bassline, and the chant-like verses that consume your body and involuntarily cause you to shake, it invigorates the vessel and compels you to dance and not only dance, dare I say dance provocative because this song is notably very "cunty." I use that word specifically because, especially further made apparent in the video with a change in the focal dance style.
While the modern/contemporary elements are still present in the player's dancing, the characters in focus: the femme figures in the video, are dressed in absolutely stunning ensembles and have broken away from the theme of the company, focusing and leaning into the vogue dance style which is also indicative of the type of music in play. It's a Black Ball, with the various femmes representing different categories varying from Sex Siren to Soft & Cunty (hence the choice in verbiage earlier.) The nods to queer culture and incorporation of the impact in the storytelling isn't missed on me.
Speaking of the storytelling, because I'm invested in sharing my vision with y'all– picture this: Our MC has transitioned from their day/early night adventure with the company into the nightlife and the party is RAGING! They get into the space and the energy of the room washes over & consumes them, captivating them in a way they were unprepared for and taking them to the dancefloor to be absolutely carefree. MC and company are the moment and everyone is there to make their night.
youtube
3.) Candle Flame
Continuing the theme of transitioning from one track to another, we slow it down a bit with Candle Flame, however there are a few notable differences about this track compared to those prior.
I can't say definitively that there's light interpolation of the song, "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman, but I do feel as though there's inspiration guiding this notable poetic and romantic track. Carrying the poetic element of this song is what I can only describe as a Rap Ballad akin to that of "All I Need" by Method Man, with Erick the Architect narrating the nervous jitters of making way for a new opportunity at love on the horizon. It's a very adolescent energy carrying this song that I can only describe as your first College Spring Break. It's all new and different, there's permission to really come out of yourself and not only have a blast but steal a moment in time and lock it away to microdose on later once it all ends.
At this point in the story, in all the dancing and excitement, across the dancefloor, our MC encounters someone's spirit beckoning them and drawing them in closer and as they begin circling each other, falling deeper into the rapture of infatuation at first sight. There's no words being shared, there's only the rhythm, the lights, and the heat of passion setting the stage for body language to carry this conversation.
4.) Dominoes
This track, while definitely in-era, has to be my favorite thus far as it taps into the big-sister genre from the decade prior with a funky soulful Motown-esque groove that can only be described as whimsy and bliss. We've slowed away from the dance intensive tracks and gotten more into a cruising vibe. It also does wonders for expressing the new chapter in the narrative being conveyed. I think it needs to be studied how on instills so much character into a song with so few lyrics.
Romance has arrived in the story. The dancing was a thrill but the sparks between MC and their new Boo are definitely set ablaze. They decide to cut away from the party, MC likely shooting company a "Don't wait up" text and disappearing into the night to make their own fun, leading to wonder and discovery for them both. Maybe they went somewhere quieter like a late-night diner where they could talk & get to know each other better or maybe they're just out for a night drive/stroll while Boo shows MC the city life from a different perspective, as Boo is clearly a local in this story. It only makes sense. Either way, the flame is struck and we now get to watch the fire burn between them.
youtube
5.) I've Been In Love
There's a return of the Disco elements, but also a notable difference to the funk from the last song and this song's venturing more into Tropical Funk & Reggae themes in this rap track along with the casual narration stye rap from Channel Tres that successfully captures and emulates the slow free falling feeling that comes from falling in love with someone for the first time.
The story has made apparent at this point that there's an evident relationship now established between the both of them and they're not fighting what's there. Time, reality, and all sense has been thrown to the wind as they just let go and act on intuitions. Now, depending on what we've heard so far, it's up to the listener to determine the rating of the production, but in no uncertain words they've likely spent some time together and also *ahem* intermingling. With respect to the poetry aspect, I think it's safe to say our love birds have– as Shakespeare would say, "made the beast with two backs." They're in the throes of it now and I love it for them.
6.) Back on 74
The song that got me here in the first place because of the iconic choreography snippet that went crazy on TikTok. It definitely fits the trend, but also with regard to the video, the commitment to the 70's theme in every step of the way: the direction & filmography, production, costume, makeup, hair, and set design to compliment the song and choreography is just *chef's kiss*.
The song itself pivots into a kind of Doo-Wop style with the singer's light voice walking us through a funky groove that feels like a reflecting point as there's a lot of air and openness on the track that makes it feel like an internal thought or memory. I like the simplicity of the song too because it feels like a break from the intensity to really take in what the singer is saying as well. It's like taking small bites of food, you take it all in and unpack it better so it doesn't feel overwhelming all at once.
As for the story, we've reached the inevitable conflict/drama scene. It’s definitely nice to feel vindicated in my interpretation of this music watching this video all the way through as I’m reacting and writing this review. Our MC and Boo have reached a point of turmoil where something has soured in their new relationship. I suspect Boo’s life in the city is catching up with them because both the lyrics and the themes presented in the video don’t read like there was an outside force bearing on the two of them. I won't follow the video's direct storyline, but I’m definitely seated and roped in now mostly because I've watched this (imaginary) couple come to be.
youtube
7.) You Ain't No Celebrity
The whimsy has returned!! Though this feels like we've registered into a separate segment of the album entirely, arguably a B-Side. Sonically, this is the most distinct track on the entire album, as I'm not certain what genre this fits into.
From the lyrics and production, I would label this like Funky Alanis Morrissette EDM. Also that switch-up at the end of this song is too groovy, it feels like a reprise to the original, especially considering the chaos in the first section and yet it's a welcomed part of the track.
This is the part of the story where the MC is really tearing through the conflict that’s bubbling between them and Boo now & the tensions are high but the former feelings are what’s making the tensions so intense. There’s madness, hope, frustration, pretenses, and expectations that are all circulating at once. Are they gonna make it? I’m gripping my seat! This may not be the intended story but this is my story now. I’m too deeply rooted into it.
8.) Coming Back
We've began incorporation more of that Tropical Funk from the first half of the album, but I feel like there's a subtle African influence in there too. This feels like progress but also a callback to the first half. Is it a mirror or what's going on here...
There’s been some time and there’s an evident shift/change in both our players but they’re back now to the same forum and approaching the dance with a new style. What will come of it this time, who knows because there’s a touch of history now and still the unresolved tension from before but they’re at least back together in some capacity, whether it’s love or war. What will happen before the clock strikes?
9.) Don't Play
We've got back to the basics in the themes because we've approached the disco again. I feel like I called it, these songs are a different scope of the first set of songs that have a re-imagining of that sonic narrative.
Our lovers are figuring it out! Not exactly the same way as before as the previous rift was likely trauma or bad habits from one of their pasts that cause them to forsake or poorly navigate the new relationship developing before their eyes. Theres hesitation to fall back in but that spark never left, it just got a little to hot to handle at the time. I feel like there's an aspect of the story we're aware of with regard to the time that they're not either paying attention to or talking about and it's giving me a little anxiety.
youtube
10.) Every Night
We've got a modern take on what feels like quintessential Disco: the Bee Gees!! There's some latin elements still carrying the background that I think are providing a sense of modernness to the sound because it's not quite "traditional" latin sounds but it's still growing the intrigue.
MC and Boo have made a declaration of affection and desire alas! A new flame blossoming from the spark, or at least a carnal moment of comfort and warmth between them. Yet and still, not a certain resolution to the problems of yore, but at least vulnerability and space to open themselves up to what once was. Our MC and Boo have a road ahead still it seems even if they have reconnected to some degree.
youtube
11.) Problemz
Continuing in that modernized Bee Gees style arrangement, there's definitely more of that adventure from before but it's more relaxed now I imagine because we're familiar with and closing out the project. Smooth, clean resolutions make for happier endings.
Our players have found some legs to stand on in their mending relationship. There’s communication and honesty that’s happening now and at the very least enjoyment of each other’s company and an acknowledgement of the troubles that have plagued them, although they’re a work in progress. There’s hope in a future with them but for now they’re making arguably a friendship, which I think works because spring break does end after all.
12.) Good At Breaking Hearts
I love JNR WILLIAMS on here, as his tone expresses the depth of circumstance in the lyrics so beautifully. Like the voice has weight and twang to it that carries the track so far. Also the introduction of what sounds like Sunshine Pop or Beach Music is now a new element that wasn't there before but it still works and doesn't allow me to get comfortable in a nook while listening.
Within the world we've created, ya know, honesty sucks. It seems our MC and Boo are in a particularly precarious position: do they just cut ties now that things are smoothed over from before or just ride the wave out to the shore as they both fear repeating what happened once more. It’s indicative of their care for one another but the care may not carry them through. Plus there's an impending clock on all of this because there is an end in sight.
13.) Palm Trees
Definitely incorporated those Sunshine Pop/Beach Music elements and masterfully pivoted back to the Disco/Funk core of the album to tie it altogether and it felt somewhat seamless because of the environment and background sounds present in the track, especially at the end. Those waves were a great introduction to this song especially with the name and vibe of the song because this would be played on a beach. It set the scene for us so we didn't have to guess how it all fit either.
Fret not readers, the fears and insecurities they were having weren’t enough to cast it all aside. It sounds like they’ve chosen ride the wave, no pun intended, and just enjoy the time they have left together. Maybe even treat it as a new adventure before them with new eyes. The history is safely behind them at this point because enjoying the party before it's over is most important.
14.) Pretty Little Thing
A final funky rap ballad to close the album and wrap up the stories in love. The songs took us through a tale with the lyrics but this song specifically had some of the strongest lyrics which is why I feel like the track was stripped down to the simplest production so you can really hear Bas take us down a reflective recap of what all transpired in the narrative. There was intrigue, passion, turmoil, trepidation, communication, healing, and now calm departure into independence again.
To conclude, our MC's time with Boo is up and our lovers have ran their course. Their future isn’t together in this moment, and that’s okay for the both of them because they have two separate lives to lead for now. They loved and cared for each other & built a memory that will never be forgotten, and who knows— maybe there’s still room for them to come back again someday in the future because in the end it’s all love and it’s not about the destination but the journeys taken & the ride there. They'll always have Spring Break.
Final Thoughts
Actual album review, shenanigans aside: I have no words to describe how in love I am with this body of work. Much like the story I wrote out song to song because I didn’t want to be repetitive and spend each note just singing the praises of the track and losing sight of the actual narrative at play, the album takes you on a journey through love. I gave my own interpretation and visualized it through the lens of a romance novel/film’s plot, but in listening with that perspective, I was able to unveil so many smaller themes within the album.
I find it absolutely fascinating that the music, even when the words weren’t really clear— not talking about diction, referring to the full messaging of each song as they required multiple listens to digest, were still able to speak so declaratively about its basic message in tandem with the other tracks that preceded each song. And much like any good book or film, when it ends, you’re sad it’s over but glad you experienced it & are waiting for the next moment to start it all over to ride that ride once again.
Completely unrelated but um, Jungle if you’re reading this and you want to uh, work with (see: teach) an artist to do what you do, I’m RIGHT HERE!

Despite having a number of years in the music industry under his belt, Niall Horan is still relatively new as a solo artist. After One Direction’s breakup, the Irish artist made two solo albums since 2017. His newest offering, The Show, is an opportunity to further establish his individuality, but he falls short at times. Despite his high level of skill, his attempts at the more upbeat pop tracks come off more like One Direction deep cuts or variations of former bandmate Harry Styles‘ solo work.
When Niall Horan tries to get back to his pop roots, the songs aren’t as strong. “Save My Life” is a bright and fast-paced track full of percussion, electric guitar lines, synths and even a saxophone solo. It has a vaguely ’80s vibe. Fun? Sure. But it’s disjointed and busy; like a battle of pop eras in under three minutes. The lyricism is on the stale side, relying on “love at first sight” tropes.
The vocalizations and guitar layering of “If You Leave Me” are similar to Styles’ Harry’s House. Is it fair to compare the two? You decide. But Styles’ smash album came first and set the precedent. The lyricism takes a back seat as Horan swells with heartbreak hyperboles. The two-and-a-half-minute “Meltdown” follows in these similarities: a quick tempo, lots of snare strikes, synths and chorus. It feels familiar but doesn’t offer anything new. Again: These aren’t bad songs. But they’ve been done better and recently.
The former boy band star has a good grip on his balladry, but he needs to bring more to the table to come up with a jam that’s uniquely his. The Show will likely produce a viral hit or three. But online success isn’t the same as writing a great song that sticks with you for years. He’s got more work to do in that regard.

SCARING THE HOES Album Review
by Josefina Gaspar
The highly-anticipated collaborative album between JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown has finally been released. This album has been on my radar for quite some time now, ever since Peggy expressed his desire to collaborate with Danny Brown on Twitter. After numerous leaks and posts on social media, I was eager to listen to this album and see if it would live up to my expectations. So, when it finally dropped, I waited until I got home, put on my headphones, and pressed play. And I must say, it did not disappoint. Without further ado, let's review the new record by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown, "SCARING THE HOES."
The album kicks off with Lean Beef Patty, and it sets the tone for the rest of the record quite well. Right from the beginning, you can hear the production style of Peggy's previous release, LP!, in the production. While there has been some criticism online about the production quality, mostly on reddit, I feel that it complements the style of the album. This project has more of a mixtape feel to it rather than a traditional album, and Lean Beef Patty serves as an excellent opening track. Peggy's performance is, as always, fantastic, but it doesn't feel like he's trying to replicate what made LP! great. Although Danny's verse is shorter than expected, it still adds to the overall quality of the track.
Moving on to the next track, Steppa Pig does an excellent job of maintaining the high energy established in the opening track. Danny delivers a spectacular performance, not overdoing it but adding enough to satisfy the listener. Peggy's verse is impressive, showcasing his ability to rap flawlessly along with the instrumentals he produced. The title track, Scaring the Hoes, is also noteworthy, especially with the unique, moist sample in the beginning. However, I did feel that the track could have been more, as it felt slightly drawn out. Nevertheless, it's still a great track overall. Garbage Pale Kids is possibly one of the better tracks on the album, and it's also one of my personal favorites. Peggy's sampling skills are on full display here, demonstrating his incredible talent. Similarly, Fentanyl Tester is another great track that features an unexpected but successful sample from Kelis's Milkshake.
Burfict! is another prime example of Peggy's exceptional beat-making and producing skills, as the track bursts with energy. The use of "super-bowl-ahh" horns is particularly impressive, and I would love to hear more tracks in the future incorporating horns in the mix. By this point in the album, I realized that I had been listening to the first five tracks in absolute awe. The album had completely captivated me, and I found myself shutting my mind off and just listening. The energy doesn't let up with the very next track, Shut Yo Bitch Ass Up / Muddy Waters. Every track on the album thus far has been great. One of the things I appreciate about this track is that it feels like Danny Brown has his moment to shine. Although he's featured on every song, it often felt like the album was more of a New Solo JPEGMAFIA record with lots of Danny Brown features. However, this track made me feel like it was truly a collaborative effort between Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA, rather than a solo project with supporting features.
Moving on to the next track, "Orange Juice Jones," it offers a moment of respite and allows for some reflection after the high-energy first half of the album. While not quite an interlude, it still provides a break from the intense tracks that preceded it. "Orange Juice Jones" is still a great track that showcases Peggy and Danny's standard of talent. It's a reminder that even when they slow down the tempo, they still maintain their skill and ability to create captivating music. The next track on the album is "Kingdom Hearts Key," which is possibly my favorite track on the entire record. It features the only artist besides Peggy and Danny, and that artist is redveil. The energy on this track is electrifying and it stands out in every aspect - from the production to the beat switches and the overall performance from the artists. Peggy's first verse is a great start with his flawless flow and production, especially with his beat switch section. The track is so mesmerizing and catchy that it was my number one song on my playlist. Danny's performance is an excellent complement to the track, and you can really feel the chemistry between the two artists. The amount of fun they had while creating this album is evident in their work. Finally, I can't forget redveil's flow and style. While there are criticisms about redveil's solo work, he really shines on this track. His ending verse is outstanding, and it's impressive how he is the only artist featured throughout the entire project.
God Loves You, another great track, does a really good job at building and maintaining energy. I absolutely adore everything from this project, and it’s just amplified with this track. Jack Harlow Combo Meal, on the other hand, is a standout for me. The piano sample used in the beat is amazing, and it's a great change of pace from the more aggressive tracks on the album. Plus, hearing Peggy's singing on this track is just beautiful. HOE (Heaven on Earth) should’ve been the ending track. It’s everything that this album is, it’s a project from the two legends of experimental hip-hop having fun. The ending part of this track is my favorite thing they sampled throughout this entire record. But finally, the last track, Where Ya Get Ya Coke From. While a great track, I do wish that this would’ve made it in the middle section of this record. Still a really good track. I don’t think there really was a track that I really didn’t like.
Overall, this album blew me away. I already knew this was going to be a record that I had on repeat, however, I think I underestimated the absolute greatness these two growing legends would produce. And to think that JPEGMAFIA isn’t done this year. He already announced, some time last year, that this was the one out of the three records he would be releasing. I can already predict what one of the releases would be, however, I won’t say much. Besides, I am just speculating. This album is simply a 9/10
My top 3 favorite songs are:
Kingdom Hearts Key (feat. redveil)
HOE (Heaven on Earth)
Burfict!
Least favorite song:
Run The Jewel's
you know this is all an opinion, right?

Experience the thrill of El Clásico! Watch Barcelona face Real Madrid live in this historic rivalry. Don't miss the intense action and unforgettable moments!
Don't miss out Our best sports Live channels
Few sporting events capture the global stage like El Clásico, the fierce clash between Spain’s two most celebrated football giants: FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF. It’s not just a football match; it’s a thrilling, high-stakes showdown that brings together fans, cultures, and rivalries from around the world. Every time Barça and Madrid take the field, they carry with them a century of shared history, intense competition, and moments that have defined not only Spanish football but the game itself. This isn’t just a match—it’s a moment that lives on in the minds of millions who watch, hoping for one more unforgettable memory.
Historical Background of Barcelona vs. Real Madrid
At the heart of the rivalry lies the tension between Catalonia—home to FC Barcelona—and Spain's central authority, represented by Madrid. Catalonia, a region with its own language, culture, and strong sense of identity, has long sought autonomy, aspiring to distinguish itself from the rest of Spain. Barcelona, as the capital of Catalonia, symbolizes these sentiments, embodying a deep-rooted desire for independence and regional pride. Real Madrid, on the other hand, represents the Spanish establishment and has historically been associated with the central government.
El Clásico, the famed encounter between these two clubs, thus became a proxy for this cultural struggle. On the pitch, the stakes are about winning; off the pitch, they’re about history, autonomy, and representation. For Barcelona supporters, a win against Real Madrid represents more than just a football victory—it’s a statement of pride, defiance, and the region’s unyielding pursuit of recognition. For Madrid, it’s an opportunity to showcase the strength of a united Spain and affirm their dominance.

Memorable Matches and Game-Changing Goals in El Clásico
Few rivalries in world football have delivered as many unforgettable moments as El Clásico, the iconic clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF. Over the years, this rivalry has seen countless thrilling matches and game-changing goals that have defined eras, captivated fans, and etched themselves into football history. Here’s a look at some of the most memorable encounters and legendary goals that have shaped El Clásico into the epic spectacle it is today.
Di Stefano’s Dominance (1950s-60s)
Real Madrid’s legendary forward Alfredo Di Stefano was instrumental in establishing the club’s dominance in the early years of El Clásico. Di Stefano consistently delivered stellar performances against Barcelona, scoring multiple goals and setting the tone for the intensity of the rivalry. His presence and skill set Madrid on a path to European glory, inspiring a new era for Los Blancos and making him one of the first true icons of El Clásico.
Cruyff’s Masterclass (1974)
Johan Cruyff, Barcelona’s Dutch genius, delivered a legendary performance in 1974, leading Barça to a historic 5-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu. Cruyff’s extraordinary vision, dribbling, and playmaking were on full display as he humiliated Madrid on their home turf. This match not only marked a new era for Barcelona but also cemented Cruyff’s status as a club legend. His impact went beyond the game itself, as he later returned to revolutionize Barça’s philosophy as a coach.
Contrasting Philosophies of Real Madrid and Barcelona
FC Barcelona’s style is deeply rooted in Total Football, a philosophy introduced by Dutch legend Johan Cruyff in the 1970s, who later returned to the club as a manager to solidify this identity. Cruyff’s teachings emphasized a high-tempo passing game, ball control, and positional fluidity, laying the foundation for what would become tiki-taka under Pep Guardiola in the late 2000s. Tiki-taka, characterized by short, quick passes and an emphasis on maintaining possession, allows Barcelona to control the pace of the game and starve opponents of the ball.
In the tiki-taka system, every player has a role in ball retention and movement. Midfield maestros like Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, and, more recently, Pedri have orchestrated play from the center of the field, seamlessly connecting defense and attack. Barcelona’s philosophy prioritizes creativity and technical skill, focusing on breaking down opponents through intricate passing sequences and movement off the ball. Even defenders in this system are skilled ball handlers, with a penchant for building up play from the back rather than resorting to long clearances.
This approach has brought Barcelona remarkable success, particularly during Guardiola’s tenure from 2008 to 2012, when the team dominated both Spain and Europe. But it’s not without its weaknesses: the emphasis on possession and short passes can leave Barcelona vulnerable to quick counter-attacks if they lose the ball high up the pitch.
Real Madrid’s Pragmatic, Adaptive Approach
Real Madrid’s philosophy, on the other hand, leans toward pragmatism, flexibility, and a relentless drive to win. Unlike Barcelona’s focus on possession, Madrid prioritizes directness and a powerful, attacking style. Real Madrid’s approach has traditionally emphasized physicality, speed, and a well-rounded tactical adaptability that allows them to excel in high-pressure situations.
Throughout the years, Real Madrid has fielded some of the most talented offensive players, from Alfredo Di Stefano to Cristiano Ronaldo, and most recently, Karim Benzema and Vinícius Jr. Their strategy typically revolves around quick, incisive counter-attacks that exploit open spaces, with the midfield functioning as a bridge between defense and a powerful forward line.
Real Madrid’s flexibility in tactics can be attributed to the club’s managerial history. Under coaches like Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti, Madrid has often shown the ability to adapt its play style to suit specific opponents, rather than adhering strictly to one method. This approach allows them to be resilient in high-stakes matches, relying on swift counters, strong aerial play, and a mentality that emphasizes result-oriented football.
While this adaptability has helped Real Madrid achieve success, especially in European competitions, it also has its challenges. The less rigid structure can sometimes make it harder to control possession against highly organized teams, leaving them vulnerable if their counter-attacks are nullified.
El Clásico’s Influence on Spanish Culture
Few sporting events resonate with as much cultural importance as El Clásico, the intense rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF. What started as a high-stakes football match has evolved into a reflection of Spain’s diverse cultural identities and historical tensions, transcending sport to become a global phenomenon. The influence of El Clásico on Spanish culture, politics, and society runs deep, making each encounter between these two clubs a significant event, not only in Spain but across the world.
A Tale of Two Cities and Regions
The rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid is about more than just athletic competition. It represents the cultural, political, and regional divide between Catalonia and Spain’s central authority. Catalonia, the region where Barcelona is located, has long sought to assert its distinct identity, language, and culture. FC Barcelona became an emblem of Catalan pride and independence, representing a regional identity that has endured through centuries of centralizing efforts from Madrid. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, based in Spain’s capital, is seen as a symbol of Spanish unity and traditional values, often aligning with the nation’s central government and establishment.
During Franco’s dictatorship from 1939 to 1975, this divide deepened, as Franco’s regime sought to suppress Catalan culture and language, forcing Catalonia to assimilate into a singular Spanish identity. Supporting Barcelona became an act of defiance for Catalans, with the club symbolizing resistance against oppression. Matches between Barcelona and Real Madrid during this period became symbolic battlegrounds, where a victory for Barça was seen as a triumph of Catalan pride over central authority.
El Clásico’s Impact on Spanish Society
El Clásico has grown to be one of Spain’s most significant cultural events, influencing national conversations, local traditions, and even politics. The rivalry is discussed and analyzed not just as a football game but as a metaphor for Spain’s broader social and political landscape. Many Spaniards—both Catalan and otherwise—view El Clásico as a reflection of the ongoing debate around regional identity, unity, and autonomy. The game has the power to amplify regional pride, with fans draping themselves in Catalonian flags or Spanish emblems, highlighting their allegiance to either Catalonia’s independence or Spain’s unity.
In daily life, El Clásico influences everything from media to family gatherings. When the match is on, the streets are quiet, restaurants fill up, and television ratings soar. Fans, regardless of their region, eagerly tune in, transforming the event into a collective experience that bridges differences and brings people together, even if only for 90 minutes.
A Global Following
The cultural impact of El Clásico has not been confined to Spain; it has captivated audiences worldwide, turning the match into a global spectacle. Millions of fans from every corner of the globe eagerly follow the rivalry, with many choosing sides based on a connection to the cities, the playing styles, or simply the thrill of the competition. Over time, international stars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have amplified the match’s appeal, drawing viewers from outside Spain and fostering loyal fan bases on every continent.
This global following has expanded El Clásico’s significance, making it one of the most-watched and celebrated rivalries in sports. Social media further magnifies this reach, allowing fans worldwide to share their excitement, opinions, and emotions, making the rivalry feel as immediate in Buenos Aires, Lagos, or Tokyo as it does in Barcelona and Madrid.
The Enduring Cultural Legacy
El Clásico’s influence on Spanish culture runs deeper than any single match outcome. It symbolizes the complexity of Spain’s regional identities, political tensions, and shared passions. For Spain’s people, the match is both a celebration and a reminder of the nation’s diversity. As each game passes, the legend of El Clásico grows, encapsulating the cultural heartbeat of Spain and reflecting the ongoing narrative of its people.

This legendary clash has an immense impact on Spain’s top-tier league, boosting its global profile, raising its competitiveness, and fueling the aspirations of other clubs across the league. Watching Barça and Real Madrid face off in El Clásico isn’t just about one match; it’s about witnessing an encounter that shapes La Liga’s identity and drives its competitiveness forward. Here’s a look at how El Clásico has influenced La Liga and kept the league at the pinnacle of global football.
Global Appeal and Attention
El Clásico is one of the most-watched events in sports, drawing millions of viewers worldwide with each match. This massive international viewership brings significant exposure to La Liga, elevating it to one of the most popular leagues alongside the Premier League and Serie A. The global fascination with El Clásico has expanded La Liga’s fan base, attracting audiences from Asia, the Americas, and Africa, who tune in not only to see Barcelona and Real Madrid but also to follow other La Liga teams.
This surge in viewership translates to greater sponsorship deals, broadcasting rights, and revenue for La Liga, which in turn benefits other clubs in the league. The revenue generated by El Clásico has allowed La Liga to improve infrastructure, attract top talent, and elevate the competition level, giving clubs beyond Barcelona and Real Madrid a chance to thrive and build stronger squads.
Raising the Standard of Competition
The intensity of El Clásico fuels the desire for excellence across La Liga. Competing in the same league as Barcelona and Real Madrid, other clubs are driven to improve their own performance standards and compete at a higher level. While Barça and Madrid often dominate the standings, clubs like Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Real Sociedad have risen to challenge them, fueled by the competitive bar set by El Clásico’s intensity.
Atletico Madrid’s rise to La Liga titles and consistent Champions League contention showcases how El Clásico’s influence has elevated the league’s competitive dynamics. Atletico’s success has broken the duopoly, proving that hard work and strategic planning can bridge the gap, fostering a healthier and more competitive league overall.
Attraction of Top Talent
Barcelona and Real Madrid’s storied rivalry and high-profile status make La Liga an attractive destination for top players. El Clásico offers an opportunity for players to be part of football history, appealing to world-class talents like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suárez, and Karim Benzema over the years. This draw helps La Liga recruit top talent from around the world, which not only benefits Barcelona and Real Madrid but also enhances the quality of players and play across other teams.
The allure of facing Barça or Madrid at least twice a season helps smaller clubs attract promising players eager for the opportunity to perform on a high-profile stage. This talent influx strengthens the competitiveness of La Liga, as players who come to Spain often stay and contribute to the success of other clubs, increasing the overall quality of play.
Development of Young Spanish Talent
El Clásico’s influence has also spurred the development of young Spanish talent. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have exceptional youth academies—La Masia and La Fábrica—that produce some of Spain’s best footballing talents. Watching young players rise through these systems to eventually compete in El Clásico inspires aspiring footballers across the country. This influence has had a cascading effect, with many La Liga clubs investing more in their youth development programs to nurture homegrown talent.
This focus on youth development has strengthened Spain’s national team and the league itself. Young players who cut their teeth watching El Clásico develop the ambition and drive to compete at the highest levels, which in turn keeps La Liga competitive and helps ensure a future generation of talented players.
Fueling Rivals’ Aspirations
El Clásico’s intensity and global prominence push other La Liga teams to aspire for similar recognition and respect. Clubs like Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Betis have histories and passionate fan bases of their own, and El Clásico serves as a benchmark, inspiring them to invest in their squads, modernize stadiums, and build unique identities. These aspirations foster a competitive league environment where teams are always seeking to close the gap, making each season more unpredictable and thrilling for fans.
Adding Prestige to La Liga
The historic rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid has become synonymous with La Liga itself, enhancing the league’s prestige worldwide. El Clásico adds to La Liga’s brand value, reinforcing its status as a league of giants where iconic players and moments are made. This association has also positioned La Liga as a top destination for international investors, broadcasters, and football academies looking to adopt and spread its ethos.
This prestige ultimately benefits every La Liga club, as the league’s elevated profile attracts more fans, media coverage, and potential investment. The economic impact of El Clásico has allowed La Liga to grow sustainably, implementing programs to support smaller clubs and grow the sport in emerging markets, solidifying its influence beyond the borders of Spain.
Conclusion
Few rivalries in sports capture the passion, history, and sheer excitement that El Clásico brings to the pitch. This epic showdown between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF is more than just a game; it’s a clash of philosophies, a meeting of iconic players, and a cultural phenomenon that resonates around the globe. Rock music Discussion forum
What is rock music?
Rock music is a form of popular music that emerged in the 1950s and can be defined as “a form of music with a strong beat”—it is difficult to be much more precise. It is also called rock and roll. Rock originated in the United States in the 1950s and then spread to other English-speaking countries and across Europe in the ’60s; by the ’90s its impact was evident globally.
Rock music has long been found to possess therapeutic properties and can undoubtedly have a soothing effect on our bodies and minds. Medical studies have shown that rock music can help reduce stress, increase positive emotions, and even regulate mood.
Rock and roll is an excellent soundtrack to your workout! The solid, upbeat tempos and strong backbeat found in rock music provide the perfect backdrop for any physical routine. With its pounding rhythms and energizing guitar riffs, rock and roll will get you moving! The genre boosts a powerful forward momentum that calls the body to action and keeps the listener motivated while they focus and power through strenuous activity or a tough workout. Also, the lyrics found in rock and roll music are often inspiring, uplifting, motivational, or filled with angst, telling a story of perseverance and triumph. In the original Rocky movie, the fictional boxer, Rocky Balboa, ended his morning run with an epic ascent up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the tune of “Eye of the Tiger” from the rock band, Survivor. The result is one of the most inspiring moments in film history, set to a rock tune that has become an anthem for aspiring and professional athletes all over the globe. Rock music can help anyone charge ahead while achieving their goals!
Rock musicians in the mid-1960s began to advance the album ahead of the single as the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption, with the Beatles at the forefront of this development. Their contributions lent the genre legitimacy in the mainstream and initiated a rock-informed album era in the music industry for the next several decades. By the late 1960s "classic rock"[3] period, a few distinct rock music subgenres had emerged, including hybrids like blues rock, folk rock, country rock, Southern rock, raga rock, and jazz rock, which contributed to the development of psychedelic rock, influenced by the countercultural psychedelic and hippie scene. New genres that emerged included progressive rock, which extended artistic elements, heavy metal, which emphasized an aggressive thick sound, and glam rock, which highlighted showmanship and visual style. In the second half of the 1970s, punk rock reacted by producing stripped-down, energetic social and political critiques. Punk was an influence in the 1980s on new wave, post-punk and eventually alternative rock.
