When I want to see a favourite character having a really terrible time, in a way that's perfectly tailored to their characterisation and what makes them tick, I know where to go. And I deeply appreciate your fondness for and thus nuanced and understanding and writing of beloved characters who are not always given that grace elsewhere. I already mentioned it last week but I put the link again as I want to make clear and helpful post for the list. This list is truly amazing as a huge WOT fan you can find there many various resources - Printed Material, Subreddits, Websites & Apps, Wheel of Time Artwork, YouTube Channels, Podcasts, Discord Servers and Other Stuff. She is incredibly good at noticing little details and foreshadowing. I have read all her posts and found them quite enjoyable. Books I plan to read in 2025

Cribsheet by Emily Oster I read her book Expecting Better at a pregnant friend's recommendation and liked it, so I'll take a look at Cribsheet. As a statistician, Emily evaluates studies on parenting from birth through preschool and distills it into recommended practices.

Your Child's Point of View by Kelsie Olds I follow this author and really appreciate what they have to say about the role of play for children and how to interpret and meet kids' sensory and emotional needs (and be aware of one's own). I actually didn't know they had a book until I looked, but I'm glad they do!

The Memory Librarian by Janelle Monae I've had this on my TBR pile for a while, been putting it off because I haven't listened to the album that it's supposed to be accompanying. At some point this year I need to do both!

Alecto the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir Assuming it comes out in 2025?

The Martian Contingency by Mary Robinette Kowal Highly recommend the other books in this series, so gotta read this one once it comes out.

Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner I'm probably due a reread of these. Wheel of Time fans may like these, as the worldbuilding is great and the POV work is stellar.

Girl do I have the absolutely perfect solution for you . Search for Neuxue on tumblr. She does the most amazing liveblog of the books chapter by chapter and her commentary is absolutely hilarious and at the same time incredibly insightful . Just be careful because once you start you won’t be able to stop . It’s the perfect way to experience the books without reading them

I might look into that, but honestly the way the show is going its basically its own thing, so I'm not feeling like I'd be getting more of what I want (which is the show's content) by reading the books.

⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now

technically I already answered this one but it feels like it's good for me to come up with more good things going on in my life right now.

I realized recently that I'd calculated monthly income incorrectly and there's a much better margin between it and spending than I thought there was, which was a really nice surprise to get.

I'm starting planning for summer and there's some fun things that @ameliarating and I might do, no settled plans but several ideas all of which would be enjoyable and are exciting to consider.

cat. seriously though, she's always a good thing in my life, during the work day she comes and hangs out on my lap sometimes and it makes everything at least a little bit better.

saw a poll about whether you prefer corruption or redemption arcs and i realized that for me it's not really either, it's a distillation arc: when a character becomes the most intense version of what they could be, everything inessential falling away or being discarded so that only the core remains.
