thoughts on furina's vision...

I think that "Furina rightfully earned her vision with her passion and dedication to her calling" and "Neuvillette gave her a vision" are two truths that can coexist

prior to the Fontaine archon quest, Furina's efforts to masquerade as the hydro archon went largely unappreciated— which was (1) obvious enough and (2) a good thing given the situation, because nobody was supposed to know that she's pretending to be the Hydro Archon in the first place. and even her divine half — Foçalors — died alone within the Oratrice, a sad finale for someone who'd been storing up enough power for her own execution.

ironically enough, in a nation of justice, both human and divine halves of the hydro archon suffered very unjustly thanks to Celestia's prophecy.

and even after everything, the people of Fontaine would either shun her (like the people of Poisson, who rightfully had a reason to do so) or go about their lives as normal, but they'd never know the full truth. on the other hand, the Heavenly Principles — the very thing she was trying to deceive — certainly WOULDN'T give her a vision for that.

but there is only one person who's seen what both sides of her sacrificed for Fontaine— and that is Neuvillette.

Neuvillette has always been upfront to the traveler about his respect for Furina, and while he didn't personally witness Furina's memories (it was the traveler who did so) he still was the one who learned of her curse from Foçalors— and then witnessed Foçalors' execution right after. he's well aware of how the people see her — especially the people of Poisson, who suffered the most thanks to the prophecy — and he also knows that he can never reveal the full truth. he also knows that Celestia would shun her efforts, since she and Foçalors deceived them.

but as the witness to the overflowing love that Furina and Foçalors had for Fontaine, it only makes sense that Neuvillette put his newly regained power to use by honouring what she did for them — both her human and divine selves. and what better way to honour them both than to give her a vision that embodies both aspects? pneuma and ousia, humanity and divinity...

the people do not fully understand what she has done for them, and Celestia will shun her; but he, Iudex Neuvillette, is not the type of man to turn a blind eye where the law is lacking.

after cycling through several ideas about the alhaitham/kaveh relationship since first learning of kaveh’s existence, i’m pleased to announce that after much more content being released about them i’ve returned to my very first original guess. which is that kaveh is nervous that if alhaitham discovers his crush things will get awkward and he could be kicked out of the house and alhaitham considers them married.
