NETWATCH RAPPORT - 20740512 : Agent 44421-N - SARTO, VIRGILE - had a panic attack during deep net session. The circumstances surrounding this incident are not yet known. The most likely hypothesis is an attack by a rogue AI, causing the system to malfunction or even hallucinate. Sarto woke up, started shaking, ripped out his cable, started screaming and calling for help. He fell from his chair, crawling before falling unconscious to the floor. Sarto has been under psychiatric care since his arrival at NetWatch, and his doctor has clearly indicated that he is being treated for his anxiety and depression, but that his regular use of drugs and alcohol is not helping the situation, nor is his break-up with Evelyn Parker. Decided to put these all in one post without the writing clips. However, long story short; 1. Never trust Salty. 2. If you want to get to Voss, pull at his heart strings or at any failings (real or perceived) 3. Things come in threes: Voss almost dies, his Dad (not actually dead), and proverbial Pandora's box of Mendelson family secrets shattered when Voss finds out he is more cybernetic than organic.

Veil thought she could get out of it since she’s NetWatch and only there in an advisory capacity but she’s listed as senior staff along with the head of Netrunner Operations and had to go in their place.

Virgile worked for NetWatch for 6 years. And while I saw him more in a chair than in the field, the idea has been growing in my mind for a while. I like Virgile in the field. And he hated it, going out to stop netrunners live, arresting them, stealing (because that's the right word) their equipment and data to protect the Net.
