charr body types for practice, rambling nonsense under the cut

ive been trying to get better at drawing more varied body types for a while now and i think ive still got a long way to go but im getting there. fat and muscle definition werent something i bothered to learn for a long time because all i wanted to draw was twinks and dragons ... but in the last year or so ive really been pushing myself to do better. i think learning to draw different body shapes is really important and improves your overall anatomy skill by a mile, its also just really fun for me to think about how fat is distributed across the body and affected by gravity and all that stuff. bodies in general are my favorite thing to draw and what i spend the most time sketching

ok enough word vomit lets talk about my ocs

iovitus is supposed to be built more like an athlete, but im not sure i got that across very well. they're still skinny and comparatively twinky next to their fellow cats, but still strong and in good shape. after they left the legions they didnt really bother that much with the upkeep of their figure, but since theyre focusing more on mercenary work again they've been better about it

most of iovitus' muscle is in their shoulder & back, as their weapons of choice -- longbow and throwing axes -- require a lot of strength in that area. theyre very triangular shaped & top-heavy, with a broad chest & shoulders, thin waist and narrow hips. skipped leg day :/

nero is supposed to have sort of a dad-bod type of build. i changed a bit about his design as ive been tinkering around with his lore recently. she was always supposed to have some tummy to her, but i dont think i drew it very well in the past. i think a dad bod is very fitting because she is one after all

i also wanted to make her blind eye more obvious because i kept forgetting about it whenever i drew her so umm sorry babe. still need to come up with an explanation as to why it happened! was considering having him just born with it for a while, but i love scars and scary traumatic events so... sorry nero

in spite of the good layer of fat he's got on his body though, nero is very strong and muscular underneath it all. his warband doesnt do a lot of combat stuff anymore but he's still working most of the time and takes good care of himself. juicy thighs btw

she's so much taller than everyone else.... its difficult to notice in the line-up as they are, but i wanted to see so i lined them up in front of one another and. well. ->

look at her. and iovitus. why are you so small??

finally, lia! she's still small in comparison to most other blood legion charr, but she makes up for it in her strength. or, well, she might've in her younger years; at her current age she's definitely lost a lot of that muscle definition just by the nature of aging

thats not to say she's weak, though. she can and will definitely fuck you up if you try her

her burned arm is her main weak point. it was burned severely enough where the muscle and nerves were permanently damaged, resulting in a lot of stiffness, uncomfortability, and chronic pain. the movement in that arm is limited and she has to guard it closely if she's ever in a scuffle

i think in general a lot of muscle definition for charr is lost just cause they have fur to cover it up, evident by the fact you cant really see a lot of it on the in-game models. or at least thats my excuse for not knowing how to define muscle with lineart

DMC Questions Anon here!

The last year recently came to a close, and I want to know how DMC characters are feeling about their resolutions from last year. Any characters you want, any point in the timeline, you can use your answers from last year of new ones

I think every year Dante might make a resolution to take better care of himself, like eating or sleeping better or maybe making a bigger effort to keep the lights on in the office, but how that ends up working out varies a lot oof. He's getting better at it though. Slowly. He tries not to beat himself up over it if he doesnt end up achieving his goal but...

Nero maybe makes simpler resolutions, like trying to work out or maybe learning something new. He feels good about it, and most of the time he's able to achieve it, i think.

As for Vergil.. its hard to say. Would he bother with them? I like to think if he does, he's kept one and re-used it every year maybe.

Alright, since my previous post about Vulpes was so positively perceived, heres a long post going more into detail about how I genuinely believe all members of Caesar’s Legion to be representative of real life romans.

I mean obviously a lot of named legionaries dont have a backstory in-game or are even mentioned outside of you interacting with them, but some of them, like Lucius, Aurelius, Vulpes, Lanius and (obviously) Caesar himself, are very similar to some actual real life people.

Like for example I’m gonna start with Aurelius. Yes there was in fact a roman leader called Aurelius, but Marcus Aurelius has not that many similarities with our in game character. Sure in a way he is helping Caesar rule, but as we can all tell and see Edward doesnt have a triumvirate. However, Aurelius is in a way similar to Octavian Augustus, the way he is put to sort of mirror how Caesar(Edward Sallow) rules, but on a smaller scale. (also, he looks very very similar to Octavian Augustus)

(I will take a moment to apologise because I am very barely educated on Sulla so, if anyone was hoping for an in depth analysis of Lucius, im sorry. However their identical names and even their facial features are similar too)

Lanius too has similarities to roman leaders like Nero and war tactician Hannibal, with his brutal and extremist approach of handling things. He also is similar to Nero since even if he didnt get chosen at random, people still regretted their decision to have him as a leader in one way or another.

And of course, Vulpes. He too was raised and praised by a man named Caesar. Told he was part of his family he doesn’t have, grew up around him and learned everything he knows from him. But the stoicism and sort of indifference he shows after Caesar dies(if you botch the surgery) has lead me to believe that he never fully cared. Yes sure I’m not here to only defend Vulpes’ actions and say he did no wrong. But it is very obvious that Caesar never treated him well, never showed him what he expected out of him. Vulpes has only been given orders to kill and to pillage since he was a child. And hate this man all you would like, people are still people.

In more ways than the way he was brought up is he similar to Brutus, he obviously cannot kill Caesar because killing him would have him exiled, and clearly he cares about the Legion so that would be a bad idea. So he waits and when you finally kill him, you can even see a tonal shift in his speech, the words he uses, he is obviously relieved to some extent. I dont think I’m just stating the obvious right now, so if you didn’t understand what I was getting at, thats fine. But I really do see Brutus in Vulpes, always have, even the way their names sound, even the way they both look, and I’m talking about the Vulpes depiction with white hair, he has a haircut similar to how the romans would wear it.

In conclusion, why do I think Brutus and Vulpes are so very similar? Because they both want to get rid of a man named Caesar and they both don’t want to do it to become leader instead.

Take every character you wish to and tell me what you think is the most emotionally devastating situation they could be put in and how they would react to it.

Oooooooh... hmmm....

Dante first... I think if he were to ever lose control while triggered and kill his family - this includes Lady and Trish as honorary family members. I don't think he could (or would want to) get over that. I think that would be the end of the road for him... doubly so, since he wouldn't have people there to try pull him out of his pain.

Vergil... losing Nero and Dante to Mundus. Not to death but to the Angelo armour and being in a position where he is unable to help for some reason... perhaps being placed back in the armour himself? Eternal torture for those for those he cares most about... A fate worse than death. Sprinkle on top a situation where he blames himself and.... voila! Orrrr maybe the disappointment of Eva if some crazy time travelling event were to somehow occur, especially as he is still coming to terms with the fact that his mother didnt abandon him afterall that fateful day - quite the opposite.

Nero... first I thought about losing Kyrie because she was killed but then I thought he is such a good kind person that he would eventually try to carry on in her name and protect the things she loved and valued. But if Kyrie were to permanently reject him due to hate and fear that would hurt him more... telling him he is the monster he always thought he was... no idea how that could ever realistically happen in canon though.

Trish... being manipulated into believing that she is still a servant of Mundus. She has learned nothing, gained nothing, her friendships with the crew are a lie. Bonus angst points if Mundus somehow turns her freedom into a crucial part of some bigger evil scheme to which she is (unknowingly) instrumental.

Lady... I think she cares a lot for her older friends, and even Nero (who by all accounts she doesnt know very well) as she makes herself emotionally vulnerable as the van tries to escape the Qliphoth. But I think the worst thing for her would be the apocalyse to end all apocalypses (apocalypsi?) where the human world is overrun by demons. No post apocalyptic survival in a mad max style world - an actual game over. I think she is so strong willed and determined to protect others from demons wearing demon skin and human skin that if there were nothing left for her to fight protect, she would lose all meaning in her life.

Sit Your Ass Down

Nero doesn't know how to take a break. He's always out on a mission; if there isn't one for him, he runs around doing errands or training. Usually, this wouldn't be a problem for anyone but it was starting to become a problem for him. Nero was starting to slowly get sick and while he did his best to ignore it, you and Dante could no longer.

"Nero, sweetie, I think you need to sit and rest for a bit," you say.

"No, no, I'm fine. I really need to get to this job," he dismisses you, softly pushing past you to the kitchen.

You follow the boy, watching him make a quick sandwich before stuffing it in his mouth as he puts everything away. He took a bit of it as he walked back into the living room, looking around for his stuff.

"Nero, have you even properly eaten in the last week?" Dante asks.

"These sandwiches are enough," Nero replies, holding up the half he had left before finishing it.

"Nero, I'm serious, you need to rest," you say.

"Auntie, I promise I'm fine," Nero says, reaching past you to grab his jacket on one of the chairs.

"Nero, I'd listen to your aunt if I was you," Dante says.

You nod, stepping in front of the boy to keep him from moving any further. "Stop and sit."

"You two worry way too much," Nero says. "I'm ok. Now, let me get to this job." He places a kiss on your forehead and gives you a quick hug before trying to get out the front door.

"Nero Alexander Sparda, you sit your ass down right this minute!" you yell.

Nero immediately freezes. You never full-name dropped him unless he absolutely messed up and he absolutely did. He lets go of the door and quickly took a seat on the old tattered sofa Dante has yet to replace due to sentimental value.

"That's much better," you say. "Now, you are going to go up to your room and change while I make you dinner. And don't you dare think about sneaking out. Your father is watching."

Nero turns to the stairs to see Vergil standing just at the top, arms crossed over his chest with a gentle glare on his face.

Nero gulped, turning back to you, and nodded. "Yes ma'am."

You smiled, placing a kiss on his forehead before disappearing into the kitchen.

Nero soon emerged downstairs once more after a shower and changing back into his pajamas. He joined his father and uncle in the lounge, laying down on the couch as his father took the recliner nearby.

Dante sat at his desk, feet kicked up with a magazine in hand. He looks up at his nephew, a smirk spreading across his face.

"What's so funny old man?" Nero asks.

"You really thought you could get past your aunt?" Dante asked, flipping the page of his magazine. "You know how that woman is. I can barely get past her."

"Yeah but you're also a simp," Nero replies.

"For that woman, any day," Dante smiles. He removes his feat from his desk as he hears a faint noise from the kitchen that meant you were done.

Your voice fills the room as you walk in with three plates, one for each of your boys. You give Dante his first, receiving a kiss and a "thank you, love," from the man as you set his plate on his desk.

You walk over and set Vergil's plate on the nightstand next to him. Vergil gives a quiet "thank you," before book marking his page.

You stand before Nero, the boy having sat up as he watched you make your way around the room.

He shrinks beneath your stern glare, looking up apologetically. "I'm sorry."

"I know you are sweetheart," you reply. You set the plate down on the coffee table in front of him before sitting down next to the boy.

While he may be 20 now, he would always be the little 8-year-old you met when you first met the twins.

You ran a hand through the boy's hair, he instinctively leaned into your touch and a low purr emitted from him.

"When I say you need to rest, you rest. Not weeks after when I have to yell," you say.

Nero nods, sitting up as you stop messaging his scalp.

"Now eat. I know you're probably really hungry."

As if to confirm it, his stomach growls. A smile spread across your face as you get up to leave the boy to eat.

You later walk out with your own plate, dragging a chair over to sit next to Dante behind his desk. Both of you look out at your family, Dante still wondering why you'd ever choose this but glad that you did.

Vergil had finished his food, the plate completely clean sitting on the nightstand. Nero had also finished, the boy now laying back with an arm over his eyes.

"He called me a simp," Dante mumbles.

"Because you are one," you reply. Dante smiles, giving you a kiss.

"Yes, but he will always adore you the most," Dante replies.

And Nero would, even if he didn't like to admit it. You were his closest thing to a mom and he would do anything for you, even if it killed him.

From the mere mention of his ideals, Nero shifted but didn't seem to wake. You smile, thanking whatever force brought you to meet that little 8-year-old on that one chilly autumn day and made you one with this family.

1. how easy is it to make them angry? do they show their anger or hide it?

ophelia - it's kinda easy to get under her skin, and she holds a grudge so if u piss her off then she won't forget it. but also she doesn't really ACT on grudges, she'll just be a little rude next time u talk to her. she doesnt really show much emotion but does kind of having a permanent :| or >:| on her face, so she'll look annoyed even if she isn't...

beatrice - generally just being rude or annoying will make her mad, but she gets over things within seconds and doesn't take people all that seriously to begin with, so it's not like pissing her off will do much. she'll be like pouty and tell u to knock it off, but she also doesnt rlly care

alice - it's difficult to make alice mad. like you have to be SO annoying or hurt him in such a drastic way for him to get pissed. usually when hes mad hes still all smiley and happy tho so he'd kinda just be >:)

2. do they believe in soulmates

ophelia - she believes in them in the sense that one person may have multiple people that can come into their lives and be considered a soulmate bc nothing is permanent and blah blah blah she doesnt rlly care tho

beatrice - she doesn't believe in soulmates but enjoys soulmate au fanfiction

alice - he definitely believes in soulmates and fate drawing people together, but is conistantly disappointed when he finds out people he like arent destined to stay with him

3. do they have any pet peeves?

ophelia - people with no concept of personal space (unless theyre like merrick or one of her close friends)

beatrice - ppl who eat w their mouth open

alice - the sound of violins

beatrice - she doesnt need one bc shes always vibing

ophelia - the current stage of her life

beatrice - there hasnt been a stage where beatrice hasnt had fun :) she doesnt have anything to worry about!

ophelia - the ages of 12-17

alice - any time he gets to the point in a relationship where he breaks up w someone and then he goes into "my life sucks wahhhh" mode for a few months

8. have they ever broken any bones? if yes, how?

ophelia - when her powers manifested at the age of 12, oph lost the ability to feel physical pain which lead to her straining herself more. she'd get into accidents or push herself too hard because she couldn't feel that it hurt and wold get injured through that (and she still does, but she has more knowledge of her limits now) so i guess she wouldve broken some bones through stuff thanks to that.

beatrice - never ever broken a bone!! she drinks a lot of milk to keep her bones STURDY :)

alice - has broken like his arm or fingers or just anything in that area due to a fight or something. he'll probably have broken a leg at some point too. again, probably in a fight. or maybe he fell out a tree. who knows.

9. do they have any memories/experiences they'd rather forget?

ophelia - she generally wants to brush most of her teen years away and forget things relating to her family, but also cant bring herself to hate them despite how garbage they are, so,

beatrice - there are probably a few conversations she's had with alice and percy that she's like to never remember ever again

alice - he cherishes all his memories, good or bad! he always thinks that he can learn from his mistakes and hardships! even though all he does is repeat the exact same things over and over and o

10. what is their favourite memory from their childhood?

ophelia - although her parents have always been cold to her, they used to go camping when she was about 9-10ish, and she always enjoyed spending time with her siblings around then.

beatrice - in the method she had been created she technically never was a child um. but in her early life, she enjoyed hanging out with levi! :D

11. do they have a "type" that they are usually attracted to?

ophelia - no

beatrice - bea will generally befriend anyone if theyre cute or theyre like her guy friends. as for a partner, she wants someone thats at LEAST a head taller than her normal form (her regular form is 5'5"), they need to be someone that likes hugs, someone who would coddle her, someone who would cosplay with/for her, someone who would buy her things..

alice - his "type" is just "someone interesting", but he thinks all people are interesting in their own right- you have to be SUUUUUUPER boring for him to not be into you in some way.

12. do they have any favourite possessions?

ophelia - ALL her alien plushies (most of which were gifts from merrick)

beatrice - everything inside her wardrobe

13. do they have any tattoos? if no, would they ever consider getting one?

ophelia - she doesn't have any, and doesn't really want one, but she's seen some real cool space ones, and--

beatrice - tattoos vanish when she changes her form unless she focuses REALLY hard on keeping it there, so she's given up on trying to get one to be permanent.

alice - he doesn't have any, but thinks that getting a sleeve would be cool. he doesn't have any idea for what he wants, though, so he hasn't bothered getting one. he also gets worried that if he gets one of his current aesthetic, he'll get bored of it and have to do something drastic to remove it.

14. do they have any piercings? if no, would they ever consider getting any?

ophelia - has her ears pierced

beatrice - doesn't want piercings, wears clip-on earrings

alice - wants a tongue piercing r belly-button piercing maybe.. and ear piercing might also be cool...

15. what is their dream house like?

ophelia - she'd like to live in a small town on the coast or something.. she doesn't really mind living in a small house since it'd just be her and merrick. but also if she had a house with an observatory, she'd love that a LOT. generally just wants somewhere nice and laid back.

beatrice - due to her void realm taking the form of whatever she wants, she has her dream home! it's literally just an apartment with a few rooms, but it has enough space for all the stuff she wants.

alice - he's in a similar position to Beatrice in that he already has his own dream place bc teehee void realm. He's a little more selfish in that he gave himself a big house with lots of space and rooms for him to fill with stuff- but also he wanted somewhere big so that all his friends could stay with him :)

16. what is something about them that people would not expect just by looking at them?

ophelia - UHHH just how lazy she is, probably.. woman barely tolerates having to jog somewhere please let her sit down

beatrice - idk probably the fact she befriends murder boys like alice

alice - all the music he listens to is like crazy frog and caramelldansen

17. how good are they at choosing gifts for others?

ophelia - she'll either just outright ask you what you want, or she'll give you money or a gift card, she doesn't like having to guess for people

beatrice - she literally picks gifts for other people based on what SHE likes.. like she'll get u something cause she tinks it's cute it doesn't matter if u've ever mentioned it before

alice - if ur his friend then he will have a list of all ur interests in the back of his brain at all times and does a pretty good job picking out gifts thanks to that

18. do they have a certain skill that they're particularly proud of?

ophelia - she's very good at researching things and digging up information that a lot of people can't find so she thinks that's kind of epic for her

beatrice - she's good at dancing, video games, and memorizing things. she will show off these skills as much as she can.

alice - umm... eyeball removal...?

19. how would a stranger they just met describe them?

ophelia - UHHHH... she's just polite to strangers so i think she'd be described as just that?? she doesnt really leave lasting impressions on people

beatrice - cute, bubbly, maybe super annoying

alice - friendly? :D

20. how would a close friend they've known for a long time describe them?

ophelia - kinda stupid but really cute

beatrice - just a lil ray of sunshine :)

alice - if you're asking like.. kai or beatrice then it's "he's cute and fun and pretty and nice to hang out with!!" but if youre asking like percy or nero then its "hes creepy and gross and im gonna beat his ass"

(( woke up in the middle of the night bc of a headache so its hc time baybee

i was talking to @devilglow about pet hcs a few days ago and ive finally come to a decision on vergils pet situation. 

under the cut cuz i gush a lot and it got long 

so following dmc5 in vergils mainverse he lives (officially) alone. dante comes over whenever the fuck he feels like and nero visits every so often but they dont live there. that coupled with the fact that hes lost his familiars as v, vergil finds himself a little lonely for once in his life. he got used to having constant company as v and now that he finds himself without the constant chattering hes realizes how much hes missed it even if he knows he had to let them go. 

so dante suggests getting a pet. now vergil of course resists. he doesnt need animal hair all over his nice new couches or pee for that matter and his cactus petunia (yes he has a cactus named petunia dont ask too many questions) makes for perfectly suitable company thank you very much. but dantes dante and he insists and even tries to sway vergil with cute puppy pictures (theyre cute. theyre very cute. but no dante) and when he starts to realize he really isnt going to budge he starts cheating. brings up that they would always talk about getting a pet but dad didnt think theyd be responsible enough. that mom would let them play with neighborhood cats and feed them regardless. 

its a dirty trick one vergil knows he wouldnt attempt if he didnt completely believe it would be for vergils benefit and worse yet it works. so he agrees but declines dantes constant recommendations among the strays hes been caring for off the books. instead he goes out of his way to do research on cat breeds (his complex doesnt do big dogs and small ones arent his style). since cat breeds are bred moreso for temperment and looks instead of usefulness and tasks he decides against purebreds and goes out of his way to find the perfect cat and lo and behold he finds one

Her Majesty Christine-Valentine Sparda (he couldnt pick between which book character he liked more christine daae or valentine de villefort) is a pure white quarter ragdoll, half mainecoon, and norewegian forest siberian mix with blue eyes and a wonderful addition to his home. shes a very large lady who requires daily grooming, eats out of a crystal plate, and regularly goes on walks and hunts with her master. she has a high aptitude for hunting and taking commands has a calm temperament and a healthy caution for strangers. shes surprisingly affectionate toward vergil and warms up quickly to dante and nero since its very clear theyre fixtures to the household even if they arent there. 

it goes without saying that vergil spoils her but to be fair shes a very pretty kitty and even takes to following him or the other spardas around like a little bodyguard. tbh i love her so much that i might keep her around even outside of vergils mainverse and even have him take her in even if hes living with other people already bc i love the idea of vergil being one of those people who absolutely spoil their loved ones. cats dont talk back or judge shes an easy target for unabashed affection ))

yess, I love it! If i had these powers, id turn full demon and chase anyone off that’d look bad at my boi heheh. Also, sorry for the bit of angst in here! Nero’s one of those characters that is like, an angst magnet! 0,o,0 i hope you like it anyways!

*When you first met Nero, he had no clue about your powers. He had just met you through mission Dante had set him on, but you just happened to crash.

*You started becoming a frequent thing that happened to pop up from time to time, kicking ass, splitting the pay and disappearing.

*Eventually, he mustered up the courage to ask you out, which you accepted immediately, because he was too cute for you to say no.

*When you went on the date, you were curious as to why he insisted on covering his arm, (which you had seen many times during hunts)

*After a lot of prodding, he admitted to being ashamed of it, and hating the way people treated him when they saw the obvious sign of his demonic heritage.

*This totally pissed you off, because it was 2017! People shouldn’t judge! So without any preamble, you trigger your arm, and continue on with your date as if nothing changed.

*Nero’s totally in shock, because; A) you can turn it on and off? He’s been trying to do that since he got his trigger! And B) you willingly let yourself be oogled so he wouldn’t feel bad.

*On your next date, you’re so excited to see a blushy Nero with his Devil Bringer on full display. You’d trigger your own arm, and link hands with his, grinning all the while.

*Months pass, and the relationship was going well! Any time Nero would get some serious BDD blues, you’d lay with him all day in bed, curling yourself around him and kissing his bringer, petting triggered claws through his hair, and whispering all the things you love about him into his bangs.

*He’d totally ask you about how you’re able to do it so freely, and if you’d teach him. Not that’d he’d be able to learn right of the bat, you’d still tell him there was nothing wrong with his bringer.

*Sometimes, kids stare at him a lot, like while you’re out grocery shopping. He’d reach for something on a high shelf, putting his full arm on display, and well, kid’s gawk at anything bright and unusual.

*You’d quickly step in front of Nero before he’d notice, triggering one, if not both your arms, and doing some small thing, liking pretending to read labels on boxes, making sure both your arms were fully on display, so the kid would be distracted by your crazy appendages.

*But sometimes, kids were so cool? On a normal outing, with your arm totally normal, some little girl in pigtails, covered in stickers would come up, and ask to touch. Course, you’d be pretty surprised. (guess she digged the red and blue color scheme?) He’d be a blushing mess, and offer his arm, for her to pet and ooh and ahh at. She’d ask him if he was a superhero, and you’d totally say yes, he was. She’d thank him for protecting everyone, give him a sticker and a peck on the cheek, before running to her mom to tell her about the superhero she met.

*You’d never seen him so proud of his arm, (Even with the hella fashionable glittery pink kitten on his knuckles) You’d swear to this day you fell more in love with him when you seen the huge smile on his face.

*With you, Nero finally got to do one of his favorite things; go to the beach. You can’t grow up on a island and not love the beach, ya know? When you first got there, he was a little nervous, but as you eased him on with jokes, he became more relaxed and confident. Soon he shed his light hoodie and all but barreled into the water, practically disappearing the moment he got in. Good lord, this boy loved all activities at the beach, and it was so nice to see him carefree. He’d splash you and throw you in deeper parts, eventually talking you into the surfer shack, so he could attempt to teach you to surf.

*You loved seeing him enjoy himself, without a care of his appearance, not worrying about straying eyes. To be honest, you were both so into whatever activity you happened to be doing, (splashing each other relentlessly, passing an inflatable ball you bought at a dollar store, watching said ball float away into the distance) to even care about the other people on the beach.

*At the end of the day, you both huddled on a blanket, sharing an overly large towel, watching as the sun drifted lazily down, you’d glance at him. Nero would have an easy, relaxed smile on his face, hair slightly damp, and cheeks and nose red from a sunburn; the red bringing out the light splattering of freckles on his cheeks and nose bridge. You couldn’t help yourself but smile too, taking his bringer in your own triggered hand, and squeezing. Just to let him know he wasn’t alone.

hold on wait a second i had a thought

in the DLC prolouge cutscene for DMC 5, when Vergil is in that stone passageway area, he says "its nearly time" (in reference to him splitting himself in half).

We know what day it happens, april 30th. The date is shown in Nero's flashback scene. This is of course assuming Vergil did all that on the same day, which i think is what happened. (He could open a portal to his house to travel, and why would he wait any longer and risk dying first?)

Anyway. Thats not my point, my point is: did he choose to do it on this day on purpose? Is this date special?

Im overanalyzing here so this may be a stretch, but: Could that be the day Eva died? Think about it. Him splitting himself was a "rebirth" of sorts: discarding his humanity to become a full demon in search of ultimate power.

Vergil being stabbed by those demons the day Eva died could also be counted as a kind of rebirthing for him: In the span of a few hours, he lost everything. His family, his life. And maybe even, his full humanity, as he gained his DT form in that moment too (shown by him having the same triggered-style eyes Dante uses when threatening V toward the start, also (half)triggered.) No longer was he a mere human boy, but now half a devil - the things that killed his family - too.

Knowing Vergil, it could make sense. In DMC 3 he's quite proper and a bit sentimental, much more so than Dante and i can see him caring more for these kinds of niche details in his life a lot more than Dante too. I also think he may have still been in that mindset when coming out of the Nelo Angelo body (however that happened), in a way that he hasnt really grown or matured while he was Nelo Angelo due to all the mind-fuckery performed thanks to Mundus.

(Could also be clarification for the reason Vergil still looks so young, quote "because of how much time he's spent in the underworld compared to Dante". He didnt live there, certainly not by choice. But he was captured and tortured by Mundus for 10 years. My thoughts is that he's technically still in his teenage body, as becoming Nelo Angelo and being in the underworld for so long thanks to Mundus halted (or at least very significantly slowed) the aging process. Time could move slower in hell but thats a rant for another time, ive gone off track.)

As such, him choosing such a special (traumatic) date to essential commit suicide on doesnt seem like much of a reach to me. Vergil has always been methodic. He doesn't do things hap-hazardly and never has, even as Nelo Angelo when he invites Dante outside to set up a proper fight rather than just taking the opportunity and attacking in the bedroom.

Of course you can argue it was coincidence, and he just stumbled across Nero by chance and decided to do it right then and there. He had to have found Nero first of all, figured out his plan of attack (probably so he wouldnt draw unwanted attention and possibly be stopped), then actually put it into motion. He couldnt exactly control the date Nero happened to be in the right place at the right time and gave him an opening. Im not trying to convince or anything, just sharing ideas, But wouldn't it just be so in character for april 30th to be a special date for him??

Overall i at least think the reason he chose to do it at the house was intentional for reasons stated above. If it wasnt, then why didn't he just... idk, find an alleyway or something and split himself there?

Those are my thoughts. Id love to hear other people's theories and such on this too.

(EDIT: I REALIZED THE MOMENT HE SPLITS HIMSELF ALSO PROBABLY HAPPENS AT A SPECIFIC TIME AS WELL, NAMELY 6:00 PM.

It mustve taken him some time to get back to the house. Not hours, but not seconds. 15 minutes seems like a good amount of travel time for someone who can teleport using portals alongside a bit of walking. If he got there early he could've just waited too.

A specific date, april 30th, and at (likely) exactly 6:00pm. In VOV while it is black and white, i assume the attack happened late into the evening, since the sky is dark when he gets back to the house a bit later. Idk how he would've known that it was exactly 6:00 but... anyway, Mundus also seems like the type of guy to plan shit, especially an attack like he did to Eva and the twins, if that whole "eva died on april 30th" thing was true.)

(( OKAY so. please read with caution if youre triggered by csa rape brainwashing etc etc 

so lets start from the top. vergil has psychologically induced ED. which isnt a huge deal for him since hes just not interested 99% of the time. its a bigger deal why he has it though

after people realized “hey this kid has no family and hes just wandering the streets shouldnt we do something?” vergil gets put in a home at 11. naturally he hates it his foster parents were nice enough and he wasnt rude but it was clear he wasnt meant to be there and had no intention of letting them into his life emotionally. after the fire and losing dante and eva he completely shut off emotionally as a child. 

so once he felt like he was wasting his time and his life siting around in a bunch of strangers homes he runs off at 15. he cant get a job bc..no address no papers. so he goes and does odd work for a little while until he can get an apartment. it takes him until hes 16 to get it all together but once he GETS the apartment he realizes how hard itd be to pay rent on time making money how he does so he ends up going into shadier work and winds up selling himself on the street. 

the clients dont seem to notice how young he is since he hit puberty pretty fast and “acts mature enough to pass for 20″ but they do notice that he cant seem to get it up at all. naturally they complain but vergil is already disgusted enough with them that he just kills them and takes their money regardless. he ends up having to buy pills so he can keep up with his clients.

neros mother was much older than him easily 10+ years but he wasnt sure how old she was since he wasnt allowed to ask. all he knew was that she had a LOT of money and was willing to pay him three times the amount everyone else did. her one request broke his rules though but since he was making so much he figured hed let it slide once since she insisted she was clean and the risk was low.

after that he quits. she had taken him to some fancy hotel and he hadnt felt more sick to his stomach with any of his other clients. he realized how debased and pitiful he had become in the eyes of mere humans like a cheap toy to be played with instead of a son of sparda who was the savior of their kind. at which point he switches gears. he goes into mercenary work and demon hunting instead since he has far fewer qualms with murder. 

dmc3 happens and hes cast into hell. at which point all of demon kind are upon him. he spends a full 3 years fighting constantly just to stay alive before hes captured by mundus whos eager for revenge. mundus is of course as unkind of a master as you can get. vergil is the direct spawn of the general who betrayed him so sorely so vergil is tormented and sexually assaulted into submission and only AFTER he feels hes been sufficiently broken does he corrupt him into nelo angelo

after dmc 1 hes cast into hell once more and fights his way out. after everything thats happened in his life hes become apathetic, immoral, touch starved, emotionally bankrupt, incapable of both romantic and sexual arousal, and literally stumbling towards his own death. in certain verses where he meets dante before the events of 5 he would slowly open up about his past and heal from it with some careful prying from his brother since dante is the only one hed ever have a care for but even then its hard for him.

after 5 hes still generally impotent but his emotions arent as hidden. his time as v gave him a lot more of the emotional strength he needed to internally go through his trauma and work it out so while hes not  fixed hes getting to a place where hes willing to let people into his life. just..very slowly. 

since hes been through a lot so any sort of physical contact outside of battle is still a lot for him to process and he tries to avoid it especially if you arent his son or brother. or v in some verses. he struggles with expressing his emotions but its even harder to externally admit exactly what happened to him and just how BAD it was. mainly because he doesnt want to admit it was that bad and that hes stronger than what happened to him but rationally he knows he still has to work through it with SOMEONE and that he has a long way to go ))
