I wake up I sit down to write my fic I realise Dos2 lore power progression makes no fucking sense and is never explained I cry
No this won't be one of my short, whiny rant posts. Now I will write few words more actually. How the fuck is it supposed to work. See, they detached Source fucking teachers from Source fucking skills. Like okay fuck cool they teach you to 'expand' your link with Source, and I get the 'Godwoken have god bestowed powers' shengains but explain to me how THE FUCK does Jahan feed on demons without Source Vampirism. How the FUCK does Hannag/Almira hone their skills without some kind of Spirit Vision?? Ryker??? Hello?? Why is getting Source skills NOT tied to Source Teachers. Like I get they either have proto versions of the skills or some magical substitutes but holy fuCK. Those mfs didn't get it from the gods for sure so why couldn't THEY teach us those fuckin tricks they figured out on their own and why they don't translate into any meaningful RELATIONSHIP with Source. Have gods do something less ridiculous than sexually assaulting you left right and center and actually get them be even more upsetting like whispering into your ear for the thousandth time, that maybe being an elf you shouldn't kiss Ifan in the Undertavern because you will have to stamp the man down on your way to divinity. GODS.
I will cry, I know it's not that deep but it's like treading through a bog and sinking deeper with every step, and a sliver of logic is a lifeline at this point.
How the hell is it supposed to work within the bounds of any rules. So help me god. Ok ok rant over I'll figure it out. Unless anyone else has answers feel free to @ me in the most passive-aggressive of ways, maybe I'm not seeing something.

Tumblr media
The computer science department was with the economics and engineering department consisted of more men from all over the campus, guys who spent hours in front of a blue screen designing software, video games, and applications or trying to hack at illegal sites; the only course in that department with a fair percentage of girls was Communication and Social Media and Y/n was among the most popular and well-liked girls from the course, both because she had a fair number of followers in the various social platforms and tried to make friends with as many people as possible but also because she was excellent as a student.
She decided to graduate in Communication and Social Media because she loved the social and developing world that could be there. Still, she never expected her course to go from the economics department to the computer science department for her second year of university only because the president of the institute had the brilliant idea to let his nerd students know that in addition to developing video games or software, they had the opportunity to express their emotions with someone instead of being attached to the computer or saying it all the president knew that most students had "sexual repression".
The winter air mixed with that of the first days of December put me in a good mood Y/n, had a serious obsession with Christmas, in his room there were I don’t know how many candles to the various perfumes in limited edition for the holidays, Under the entrance of her room there was a small mistletoe (even if she did not go out with anyone seriously wanted to believe that sooner or later someone would kiss her under that famous stick), lights decorated the whole room and in his collection of accessories there was a section of bows to attach them to hair and he put one white with small glittering silver snowflakes.
She was simply a romantic and spent her nights watching Christmas movies with her best friend but she was extremely jealous because they didn’t seem to care about the love that you could feel during the holidays but they were only thinking of which other guy to take read especially if he was a computer science student, had received some flattery from some boys but none made her heart beat or come failles to stomach except one in particular Han Jisung, god hated him with all of herself had tried in every way to attract his attention with small gestures, let’s talk clearly he did not act like a pick me girl too because it was not in his character but sometimes he sat in front of or next to him in the library, Other times he saw him exhausted even after the library hours and brought him some limited edition coffee to drink in autumn or Christmas but always noticed that he drank a sip and then left it all in the glass, During the computer classes she had tried to make friends with everyone but he seemed not to care about her worse it appeared that she was like a ghost.
When he entered the classroom he saw with his surprise Han lift his eyes from his pc and when he saw her with a small mistletoe in hand he threw an ochiattaccia from the back of the classroom, was extremely irritable because they had spoken yes and no few times since the beginning semetre and it seemed that he hated her without having done them anything wrong, the computer class was one of the few classes where the teacher was a woman and Y/n had asked if he could cheer up and decorate the classroom a little with something Christmas and to his surprise the teacher had given him permission to put a mistletoe branch over the door so Without disturbing the very few people who had taken a chair and put it under the door and went to take the scoch and the razor wire to attach it to the branch, when she put her chair over the top she didn’t think it was so high so she tried to stand on her toes but felt the more stable chair below her and saw Han behind her holding his chair and trying in every way not to let those few male companions see their legs Discovered by the skirt slightly too short for his standards.
"Pixie next time before you try to hang something see if you can get there because in this way you’re showing off your half-naked legs under your skirt, let me attack that stupid mistletoe branch." you sundown to look at Han and have his classic nerd glasses, a black oversized sweatshirt, cargo and hair all ruffled, who knows what it would have been like to touch them and pull them slightly...
"Nerd nobody asked you for your help and don’t call me Pixie you’re not that much taller than me, if you can’t look at legs with socks it’s not my fault if you’re perverts." You felt the chair slightly flutter and Han had moved away that little not to hold the chair anymore
"Pixie seriously even if you stretch a little with the tips of your shoes you will not be able to stick it, let’s finish this show, and let me get on this chair, quiet is not among my hobbies to watching your legs half naked"
It was a serious lie every time you wore those fucking gowns like a good girl He would have wanted to put one of his big hands on your thighs and let everyone know that you were his property but he was too shy to do so
"I already told you not to call me Pixie i am Y/n and you know well what my name is, if you insist so try to put it otherwise i will call some other guy"
you went down from the small chair and Han put himself on the chair, ok he was slightly taller than you, and surely for him, it was a breeze to hang that stick, stretched slightly, and from the sweatshirt you saw come out a piece of leather you knew that Han had a passion for tattoos and had one on his chest but you didn’t think he had another, a slight hint of musk and poo invades you and you look carefully Han hangs the stick and swings it a little to see if he held the small knot that he had made, with a small jump Han got down and you found him a few centimeters from you and lowered slightly at your ear.
"Next time wear jeans, not skirts Y/n because you never know maybe I will start to look at your legs even if they are covered by socks like all the other perverted guys of this course!".
It was exactly a week since that episode in the classroom and most of the kids, when they walked into the classroom, smiled when they saw the little mistletoe over the door instead the only one who didn’t care at all was Han, you had arrived slightly earlier to the computer class and i put you between the last benches in the back of the room, you had to edit a vlog that you had made with your friends last weekend so you were focused on the computer without paying attention to what was happening around you until you saw next to you a computer of the latest generation and a case of glasses, you sunflower and next to it was Han who watched carefully how you were dressed and a slight grin formed when he saw that you wore jeans with small tears and a slightly over red Carharrt sweatshirt that matched perfectly your bow you wore to hold Tie your hair.
"I didn’t think i had so much effect on you pixie, it’s since i told you that i preferred to see you in jeans that i haven’t seen you with a skirt on campus" you raised your eyes and kept editing your video.
"You do not affect me Han, the temperatures have dropped and i prefer not to die of cold with skirts maybe it’s you who are obsessing about me if in all these months you rarely spoke to me and looked if now you notice every time how i’m dressed."
You felt the chair approaching you and leaned awkwardly to the table to be closer to your ear.
"Who said i didn’t look at you? Maybe you were too busy making friends with all these idiots that you never noticed the glances i threw at you"
"Stop teasing me Han, i see how i don’t like who knows how nice and the glances you throw at me when i make a presentation or when i’m in the company of others"
The professor came in and started to explain something about computer security but you already knew that so you kept editing the video until you felt slightly cold fingers coming into contact with your skin under the small tear you had in the jeans near your thigh, You watched Han’s slightly venous hand squeeze your thigh and then make some light circles going up as far as he could and then come back down and squeeze your thigh again. Fortunately, you were on the last bench so no one could see you but you felt the temperature of your cheeks rise more and more and you watched the profile of Han slightly relaxed while with the other hand he took notes, how he could be so casual if his hand was inside your legs and every time he tried to go higher he even left you little pinches with his long fingers.
Just a few minutes before the end of the lesson, the teacher said that you should go ahead with the person sitting next to you to study the chapter that she hadn’t finished explaining and write down what you thought was right to introduce on safety inherent technology artificial intelligence.
Han immediately took his hand from your thigh and approached as before with his body pressed close to yours "I never made fun of you Y/n, i always looked at you and maybe too much for my standards and maybe i have a serious effect on you if before every time i touched your thigh slightly you would decrease in the chair and blush. Luckily you had jeans because if you had the skirt of last week i would have touched you slightly higher and maybe I would have made you moan in front of the whole class" Have you watched Han take his stuff and get out of class, how much did you hate him as a nerd if he behaved that way to you? He had no shame if he thought to pottery you moan or even touch your pussy in class...
The city was full of Christmas stands along the main street to enter the university, you and your friends had arranged to go for a little ride and then go skating all together but someone else had other plans in servant for you and to your surprise, you found the group of friends of Han in front of the stand where they sold freshly fried melles over the cinnamon and an impromptu craving for food made you approach the stand and the group of 8 boys, You looked at him for a moment before you stood in line and saw a boy with blond hair smiling to you and I did the same, he was a nice guy but your eyes stopped on Han’s back for a few seconds and you were slightly happy that he didn’t see you, Two days before the next computer class and you had not yet taken up the courage to write him to find you studying. You acted as if you were the loser of the situation and not him, you had thought that you wrote instead you had not received any message but you always displayed the stories among the first people and even when you posted a photo were always among the first to like.
<<Isn’t that girl with the white bow and the mutton, Hannie that girl you’re obsessed with watching every story and vlog on YouTube?>> Han when he heard these words coming from Felix felt his cheeks turn slightly red and looked in your direction and saw you taking pictures definitely for your ig at the apple stand.
“Don’t tell me you brought us to this Christmas village just because you saw his ig stories on his profile," said Chan, laughing and pinching his cheeks slightly, Han gave a slight tap to the big hand Chan and began to approach you but saw that you were in the company of your friends and his shyness was imposed, god because I wasn’t extrovert like Felix or Chan?
Felix gave a slight push to Han and he found himself next to you and looked at the Australian boy.
“Pixie didn’t think I’d find you in the Christmas village don’t tell me that you’re following me and missing you already!"
You were in the head and next to you was Han, He wore a jacket of The North Face and cargo, It was strange not to see him with glasses but unfortunately he was even more beautiful gave him that area of the boy next door and no longer the nerd who spent hours on hours in front of the computer.
"Maybe you’re obsessed with me Han, I saw that you were among the first to view stories and fatalities find you in my place.”
"Why should I be obsessed with you Y/n? I have other things to think about and it was a fatality if I watched the story just put on ig"
You laughed and the line started to go ahead in front of you there was a nice guy and he immediately smiled and passed his hands through his hair while paying for the two fried apples, Before you left the stand you heard the cashier talk to you and give you a small sheet of paper but I did not now open it that with one hand Han took it and put it behind a pocket of jeans.
“Seriously Han what do you want from me? You tried to leave but a slight grip on Han’s hand made you stop and you looked at the nerd in front of you with an interrogative look.
"Would you like to go to my house and get on with the project? I know it’s Saturday afternoon but tomorrow I have to go to training and on Monday I have a class at 20”
"I don’t go to a stranger’s house even if you are in class with me and you are my age you could be a serial killer, let’s go to my house where i feel more comfortable than surely there is some roommate of mine"
"Yes, sure, I didn’t even think about it, sorry if I was too hasty to say immediately go to my house if you feel more comfortable we can also go to the library" Han was slightly eating the skin off a fingernail and at the same time he was also snapping his fingers for embarrassment or maybe anxiety? You took one of his hands and put it in your pocket with
"We can go to my house there is no problem, if you are okay and if you feel comfortable staying in a room full of Christmas stuff and basic girl fond of music, make-up, and shopping"
Han laughed lightly and looked until you arrived at your date and shared the hand braided to her inside the pocket of your mutton.
"Should I seriously be afraid of what I might find in your room or can I just sit still or some killer puppet could eat me alive if he sees a boy of the opposite sex in your room?"
"There’s no killer puppet in my room just a teddy bear that will be like a few years younger than the two of us" Han walked into your room and a little whistle came out of his lips, you had the view of the mountains of Seoul and the light sunset contrasted with the cream-colored walls of your room, there were a lot of albums of old and new artists and obviously above the door was a light mistletoe branch.
"Pixie i understand that you like Christmas so much but also in your room you have to find this branch of mistletoe. I read on the Internet that if you kiss someone under mistletoe love will last forever between the two lovers and it is a plant that brings luck and that drives away the difficulties and pressures between the couple"
"Who’s the obsessed Han? I sure don’t, if you research my favorite things!" You saw him blush slightly and sat in the big gamer/ youtuber chair that you had, instead, you sat in your comfortable bed and for almost two hours you studied with him, You weren’t surprised that while studying he was representing exactly the nerd you knew and that nothing was distracting him or maybe there was something or someone who could distract him and that was you.
You got up from your bed and you sat on the armrest of the comfortable chair next to him to make them understand that you were tired of studying but it seemed that he did not care what you were doing, then slowly sundown the series and you found him with a light smile and grin looking at you.
"Who is it now that needs the attention?" You were afraid to make a first move with Han also because you didn’t know him at all but he had put his long fingers for almost an hour and a half inside that little slit in your jeans and told you that if you had a skirt she would touch you so who cares if thought you needed him. Without taking your eyes from your face you sat between his muscular legs and felt his big hands between your hips "You want what treasure? Where is the popular girl who talks to everyone and wants to be at the center of attention all the time?" His words were provocative for the silent nerd who was in class, you spread your legs a little put over his length and tried to kiss him but he moved and a grumpy took possession of your lips
"Baby i need words who is now the shy couple?" a slight grin took possession of his lips and began to look at your lips as if it were a challenge only between your two worlds.
"I want to kiss you Han but don’t get too excited."
"Pixie fuck is since i saw you first come through that fucking classroom door i dreamed of hearing you say. But where is the romantic girl who wants to be kissed under the mistletoe by his beloved before Christmas?
"I think that before to make me kiss under the mistletoe i need to feel how it is to kiss you"
"You’re saying that you need to have a nerd in your life but you need to figure out if this nerd is the right one for you?"
You felt slightly more comfortable and you slammed your lips with hers and a slight taste of sugar invaded your tongue, He was fucking good at kissing and after a few seconds, you felt slightly biting your lower lip and a little moan came out of your lips and put his tongue into your mouth and at the same time began to gently touch your spine with his hand's cold ones that contrasted with your hot skin. Han had dreamed of this moment for months now and now that he held you close if he did not want to scare you, felt Han away from your lips to take a breath.
Han’s fleshy lips moved in your neck and began to give you a gentle kiss trail between the neck and collarbone.
"You’re perfect baby, your taste is driving me crazy. I always hated these sweet flavors that know from Christmas but i can make an exception for you" The feelings that you felt only with little kisses and lollipops were sending you off your head because this guy was called a nerd and what do you know about kissing?
You felt his cock swell more and more when you moved slightly above its length to feel the atrium between your jeans.
"I hate you because you have two Han personalities? How is it that in class you are perfect and then you are like this with the girls?" You felt the light laugh of Han in your neck and began to bite your neck until you felt his name come from your lips and at that moment he understood that you would be forever because no other name should and could come out of your lips if it was not his.
You pulled off his sweatshirt and a chest carved with around a small compass tattooed made you lick your lips so you returned the work he had done on your neck kissing her neck, her collarbones on display, Going down to his chest and with your hands caressed the ridges of his abs and you began to kiss his chest "Pixie moves into bed" You didn’t care about the uncomfortable position you had sitting between his legs while kissing and licking his abs.
"Pls Y/n" When you heard your name begging you got up from his legs and threw it into your comfortable bed and put yourself on him and watched him with his perfect tattoos and short of breath for the pleasure you were giving him, You wanted to let everyone know that the nerd not looked at by anyone had filled you with suckers and almost came in your pants without even touching you.

i saw you have requests and omg pls if you can write vergil x readers theres not many being written here rn
im thinking angst or fluff. honestly anything as long as it's vergil. get creative!! vergil x reader tag is so empty rn 😞
Tumblr media
so i’m gonna imagine that NONE of the DMC story happened and we’re in a high school AU because…why not? this will be senior!vergil so like 18 or older if you want.
his brother was the most popular. people really only knew vergil because they shared the same last name. and he liked it that way. he liked to keep his circle small. the idea of being in crowded places or bringing around more than four to five people wasn’t for him.
his friends consisted of nerds like him and you. you all would talk about the newest he-man episode, dnd (he was the most gruesome of them all when it’s his time to create a story)
vergil kept to himself most of the time his group came together but he did enjoy your presence. you were quiet like him but talked way more than he did. and he enjoyed your company.
sometimes when the group got too loud for his liking, he’d pull you away so he could only hear you.
he was a loner and he liked it like that.
the only thing he had to worry about was work, school, and keeping the relationship between you and him steady.
his favorite times were when you dragged him to your room and made him pretty. the whole time he has a scowl but he does enjoy it. the feeling of your hands on his face made him melt.
“vergil, loosen your fucking face.” you huff after having to repeat yourself for the hundredth time. “that foundation is cold…and it’s not even my shade.” he says sassily. “how do you even know what that is?” you laugh, dabbing the beauty blender on his face. “i’m around you too much.”
he hated when you first went to his house. because of his brother.
dante has a natural charming personality and it worked on many women. so who’s to stay you’re any different?
“oh? my dear brother finally bringing a girl home?” dante grabs an apple from the fruit holder on the counter, leaning on it. “what’s your name?” he takes a bite as vergil groans but still says nothing. vergil grabs your wrists and drags you upstairs before his brother could open his mouth again. “wear a rubber!” that comment made him stop in his tracks, his cheeks heating up. “fuck you.”
wear a rubber? WEAR A RUBBER?! thanks, dante, for embarrassing him in front of the only woman he’s ever gotten close to.
but what if you started catching feelings? and he did too but you’ll never know.
you had an idea of relationships and how pining worked. the girl falls in love with the guy, trying to be with him every moment they can and spending time together. i mean, he let you do his makeup.
you were “experienced”. you knew how to do this. but vergil didn’t. every time you and him were in a couple situation, he would freak out and shut the down every single time.
over time, when you went to his house, he turned you back around, not even letting you in the living room. he avoided you like the plague.
“i don’t like you. stop trying to force it.”

Hi, I just want to clarify that I don't mean this as an accusation but as an honest question; but when you and others on your posts are talking about narrative bigotry in Worm you talk about the racism and homophobia (which I agree with) but you also talk about fatphobia/fat characters being universally handled poorly, and I would love a breakdown as to why this is. With regards to Piggot when she was initially introduced I was thinking from how the heroes thought about her in their POV chapters that she was going to be the fatphobic stereotype of "soft and uncool but mean/unpleasant, disgusting fat civilian who doesn't know real courage and heroism like the thin, attractive heroes", and was pleasantly surprised when she got a lot more nuance than that, and also turned out to be very courageous and militaristic in contrast to the stereotype of "fat = cowardly and doesn't know real survival", with her flaws more lying in how she goes too far in that direction. In general the problem I typically see with how I see fat characters represented isn't just that they have flaws, but that they are never allowed to be "cool". They might be laughably dumb or they might be smart, but in a "loser nerd" way, never in a "clever scheming competent leader" kind of way. If they are negative/mean/evil characters, the emphasis is always on their venal, base qualities like gluttony, greed, and just being a jerk, they are never an "evil is cool" character with flaws like pride or a philosophy that is thoughtful and intended well but goes too far. So in that respect I thought Piggot was well-written, well besides. being literally named Piggot which is cringe but I could excuse as setting up the expectation of a stereotype to later support. And the only other character I remember being described as fat, Gregor the Snail, I have no memory of being any kind of problematic stereotype, though I don't remember him and his chapter that well either. So could you explain why Worm writes fat people badly/fatphobically?
this took way too long to answer because it's like. Well it's a simple answer but also this is a very long ask. so there's more to unpack. the short answer is just that literally, like, virtually 99.99% of the times a fat character or someone being fat is mentioned in literally any wildbow novel it's with palpable disgust. regardless of who the narrator is. it's obvious even with taylor but pact really hammers this home because blake is characterized in a way that indicates he should never be randomly judging someone's weight or appearance and he's still constantly written as observing whether or not someone is "fat." and it's in italics, like it's a slur or some grievous insult. like we're not even at the point of being able to analyze how wildbow writes specific fat characters here due to there are almost none of them and anytime fatness is mentioned it's in the context of it being stated in the same tone as if the narrator was observing someone picking their nose and eating it. like the loathing is Palpable. pay attention to how the phrases "fat" or "obese" or "morbidly obese" are used the next time you're reading a wildbow novel. you'll see what i mean.
as for the specific characters it's like. i think this post has everything icould think to say about gregor already in it, which as you will see is not very strongly opinionated. i mention piggot in it also. i don't remember enough abt either to just wax abt them at length but fundamentally it's that there's nothing particularly Strongly Good about either of them--not doing the "soft lazy uncool glutton" schtick is, like, bare minimum, and neither of them are very far above the bare minimum, and they're in a story that consistently does infinitely less than the bare minimum. there's gonna need to be more than a fat character Having Characterization before we can say that worm isn't wildly fatphobic

Emile Cappella
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Emile Cappella
Gender: Male
Class: 2-1
Club: None
Persona: Sleuth
Reputation:
Overall: +30
Liked: +30
Respected: +20
Fear: +10
Crush: Colleen Smith
Strength: Incapable
Likes: Money, Gossip, Reading, The Supernatural, Psychology
Dislikes: Justice, Video Games, Anime, Family, Memes
__
I think Emile might just be one of my more normal characters. While writing about him, I figured out that I wanted to keep him as a light-hearted, well-meaning character.
The only problem that occurs is his incurable nosy-ness. Originally, he was based on two generally light-hearted and well-liked characters from two different fandoms, and Emile was meant to make up the worst of both of those characters by being more secretive and sneaky. As of now, he's just nosy and a nerd.
But, similar to other well-meaning characters (like Fureddo, Kuroko, most of the Martial arts club), his willingness to help tied with his inability to mind his business might lead to an untimely end. Not that I have one planned out at the moment, but I'm glad I can put him in a certain "category". That will definitely help me proceed with the story.
__
The text above reads:
1. Emile doesn't talk about this often, but he depends quite a lot on his peers for entertainment. This us why he likes gossip and myths so much- so he can decide whether or not it's true by gathering evidence. Alternatively speaking, he hopes to turn his life into constant twists and turns of mystery for the sake of making his life less boring.
2. He likes meeting and chatting with his friends' parents as a way to get closer to them.
3. Popularly, he's known for being a goody nerd- making jokes that reference academic studies and such. Due to this, he's THE most popular student tutor available.
4. Thanks to people coming to Emile for studies. He often hears bits and pieces of drama and his classmates' lives. Unfortunately, he's 100% one to like gossip and ends up blabbing about private knowledge that he's able to confirm as true.
Colleen Smith: Emile, despite it being common knowledge that he has a crush on Colleen, has managed to be perceived as suspicious by her due to his very frequent attempts to get closer to her. He knows very well that she's regularly very suspicious of things she's not used to, so he hopes that by interacting with her often, she'll become more used to him.
Chojo Tekina: Chojo is considered a very good friend by Emile, as Emile likes hearing him blab about the supernatural. It's an interest they both have in common, and their dynamic consists of Chojo finding myths and Emile investigating to see if they're true or not. Together. The two are something like kids detectives, despite socially being known as Pilar opposites.
Kaga Kusha: Kaga and Emile don't know each other well because Kaga (thankfully) Likes to keep his peers a very far distance from his personal life. Still, Emile likes to run info-gathering errands for Kaga from time to time simply because it helps him learn things- which is Emile's favorite hobby. Sometimes Kaga let's some information about himself slip during random ramblings, which Emile likes to keep in mind.

I don’t know how this narrative principle is properly called in English but today I finished reading an academic paper on “backend vs. frontend motivation” in stories and I am nerding off big-time.
One of the most important elements of modern media to me, especially in film, is for it to be motivated from the ‘front’, that means from the beginning. You gotta have a starting conflict so well fleshed out that it justifies all which comes next in a domino chain of such bulletproof logical consequence that it cannot be questioned until it inevitably culminates in the grand, satisfying finish. Only then is an ending good and only then can it be truly enjoyable.
The best example of which that remains to this day is How To Train Your Dragon.
In my opinion this movie leaves no room for a different ending. Were it to be replayed thousands and thousands of times, it would always unfold the same way. It’s that solid. Solid in its core conflict, in its character designs, in its stakes. It would choose to happen the exact same way again every time. Everything is in-universe consistent and character-consistent to a T. I believe luck, or chance, played a role in the creation of this movie because humanity is just not able to think up something as perfect as this on purpose.
While the sequels are - generally speaking - good, the failure to recreate the artistic mastery of the first movie can be seen in them. Glimpses of the original magic do appear more often than I had feared, which pleasantly surprised me for both the second and the third movie. However, both sequels have obvious weak points. The first movie has none. None. It’s somehow flawless.
I attribute its success to strong frontend motivation. There is an age-old war yet it threatens the current generation’s survival as acutely as it did on the first day. The People are tired and it’s either the annihilation of the enemy or resigning themselves to poverty and death. Berk is backed into a strategic corner and while Stoick is far from giving up, he doesn’t know where to take fresh ideas from. The absurd third possibility of talking peace with the dragons comes from the innocence of a child human and a child dragon. The grown-ups couldn’t have done it, yet so unexpectedly balance is achieved. It’s brilliant.
Httyd1: Shitty war -> needs to end (peacefully if possible, because the vikings are not bad people...but Stoick doesn’t see hope). + DRAGONS.
Httyd2: Hiccup Will Be Chief, therefore let’s throw some growth at him and kill off Stoick so that the two won’t fight about how to run the village later (because that would be in their characters).
Httyd3: The Dragons Will Leave, therefore let’s create an artificial villain, and a convenient dragon girlfriend, and make Toothless ooc to achieve it.
See, Httyd gradually declines into using backend motivation and that’s why the third movie works even less than the second. At least Httyd2 had a strong middle, that is, from Flying With Mother til Hiccup starts talking to Drago. Don’t make the mistake of buying into the rest: Nowhere was the topic of Hiccup becoming Chief even a thing before Httyd2. Also, Hiccup behaved ooc with his sole focus on dragons (at the so-uncaring-that-it-must-be-intentional expense of humans) and the no-kill rule. And Stoick died not from a plasma blast, but for plot convenience.
The third movie, in turn, gave Hiccup his original character back and bestowed a glow-up onto him and Astrid and their relationship, but at the cost of Toothless’ personality and backstory... and the general in-universe logic, such as Grimmel’s hollow arc (stressing his intelligence when he’s clearly NOT). You see, both movies have their strengths, but it just doesn’t work when the creators think up the ending first and are willing to bend everything else, however painfully, to achieve exactly that desired ending.
The newest marvel of frontend motivation done right is of course Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The reason why it’s just so good is because the arc of Puss eventually losing his lives was not a forced narrative, simply conjured up to Have Puss Do More Jiggling On Screen. It was an innate part of his self, already there in his character from the start, and was inevitably going to become a problem some day. The creators made the most of it by dealing with it not after 8 more daring adventures that were clearly fabricated to generate money in theaters (what a nightmare to think about), but by insinuating that Puss has already lived some of those lives, giving him depth. Because we have not seen all of them, yet our famed hero has been shaped by them.
One could argue that the quest for the Wishing Star was a little too cheap of a narrative. But Puss has been a serious character stuck in a world full of dumb magical creatures and artefacts before. That’s literally the universe he lives in. So it works. And ohh, how magnificently it works.
So anyway. Front-end motivation, people. Has usually better characters too because the plot is tied to their consistency. It makes the ending of their story depend on themselves, not on ex-universe tinkering or budgets. Use it more, please and thank you.

Do you have any tips for writing Carlisle? For example, episodes from his work, human life, or something else?
General Writing Advice
Personally, I find writing scenes without purpose extremely difficult/not producing the best results. Obviously, everyone's unique, but if the characters don't have anything to do then they tend to just sit around not having anything to do.
Even something like a one-shot should have a point (reflection on an event, relationship, etc.).
So taking an episode from his work, human life, or anything else without asking the question "why am I showing this" or "what point am I trying to make" to me is the wrong way to approach it.
If you want the character to do something, he should have something to do.
Writing Characters in General
Once again we get into the weird realm of how I personally write the man versus how everyone else might. There's a lot of interpretations of Carlisle across fandom and even if I don't agree with all of them based on what we see in the text, none of them are wrong. Fandom's about having fun which means you can do whatever the fuck you want.
If movie Carlisle is your game, go for it, if fanon Carlisle's your man, go for it.
The trick with any character is to be consistent. You should have an understanding of them such that if X happens you know they'd respond with Y. This keeps the story from feeling contrived and as if they're being forced to react in whatever way the author wants them to.
If you keep it consistent and you write well then readers won't really care if it lines up with their exact interpretation of the character.
Tips on Writing Carlisle
A lot on Carlisle Cullen in here
However, I assume you came to my house for a reason and that you're asking specifically how to characterize Carlisle Cullen in the way that I and @therealvinelle do.
So, I'll give the general roundup characterization advice we've given for other characters in the past (thus far Aro and Lily Evans).
Carlisle is Religious
Carlisle is fundamentally a religious character. This is brought up in canon and is one of the first things you learn about him: he believes in God.
Now, this one is also very tricky as I've seen a lot of writers having no idea where to even start with this. Most writers I see... the only way I can describe it is they write a very Catholic, flagellating, God-fearing Carlisle Cullen. This is how writers in general write any religious character. That's fine, that is a way to interpret his character, but it's not what @therealvinelle and I go for.
Our thoughts are that Carlisle had to do a lot of philosophizing after becoming a vampire and essentially has his own doctrine. Because of this, out of the Cullens, he's one of the least haunted by what he is personally (a vampire) and is not necessarily married to interpretations of the bible we see in either the past or even the modern day. (The man canonically advocates abortion).
Regardless of how you choose to interpret him, you have to address the religion in some way or another.
Carlisle Thinks a Lot
We're talking about a guy who did the above section (rethink his religion) upon becoming a demon. He had large problems (such as trying not to eat people) and yet this is something he spends significant time and thought on.
We're talking about a very introspective guy then who is interested by abstract ideas and the way the world works. (As opposed to Emmett who would have no interest in such things).
This is probably not going to apply just to religion but to a lot of other facets including "should I turn dying people into vampires" (something he canonically confesses pondering to Bella), "what the fuck is up with Renesmee biologically" (less esoteric but still a very nerd topic with no real answers until Nahuel comes around).
Not to mention pre-canon his regard for the Volturi who were probably the most learned of the vampires he ever came across.
Carlisle is noted to have pursued several different fields before settling on becoming a doctor.
We're talking about someone very curious about the world, to the point where he's clearly not bored/moping after 350 years (as opposed to Edward who's only been doing this 100 years and is a brooding bored mess).
He's someone who wants to do things, learn things, and be a part of the world and keep up with it.
Carlisle's Way or the Highway
Canonically, Edward had to leave when he left the diet. Granted, Edward chose to do this of his own accord, but Carlisle didn't chase him down or try to negotiate with him.
You either try to do the diet to the best of your ability or you're out.
Edward was already a very close companion of Carlisle, Carlisle had broken down after three hundred years of loneliness, not to mention Edward was very distressed and very young: didn't matter.
What this says that is for better or worse Carlisle will stick to his principles even if those closest around him do not.
An important note on this is because of this Carlisle assumes that his family, those around him, share the exact same principles even if they do not (for all the Cullens think that they share them as well). It's unthinkable to him, even in canon where he sees evidence now and then, that they don't actually care that much for human life and more the Cullen lifestyle and moral superiority of it all.
He's Ridiculously Stubborn
We're talking about someone who crawled into rotting potatoes while dying, managing to stay silent, then crawling his way out of London without eating anyone and spending the next N days trying to kill himself until he crawled into the woods to starve painfully to death.
He discovers the animal diet, lives on cardboard for the rest of his life despite having a few morsels of blood here and there as he starts turning people, even when Aro's literally dropping corpses on the floor in front of him.
He then leaves Volterra despite having no idea where he's going, a good chance of getting killed, all for the chance that he might find someone on the diet or convince someone to do it.
He is unbelievably stubborn to the point where... Edward and Bella are close contenders but Carlisle's doing very well in the stubborn race himself.
The exception is that he compromises when it comes to his family/things that don't just affect him. In Twilight, he wants to move when it's clear Bella's Edward's singer and the van incident occurs. Nobody else wants to move though and Alice announces Edward's in love with Bella so... they stay... he guesses... In the Bella/Edward relationship, like everyone else, he lets Edward handle that one as it's not really his business.
He's Very Likeable
Everybody likes Carlisle. To a really weird extent actually, and by far he's the most outwardly charming of the Cullens.
Otherwise
You got anything else, @therealvinelle

This story is inspired by a song by Nxdia. You are welcome to go listen to it, but I'll write down some of the lyrics anyway.
"At 14
Katy talked about teenage dreams On the bus and
She's looking at me
Talkin about life and her dog
And the boys that she likes
I ask "have you got someone in mind?"
He's at the all boys school
She says something about liking his height. Suddenly worried about mine"
So yeah, that was enough for me to write a cute little g/t romance.
I still plan on writing other longer stories but just suddenly felt inspired to write this.
(This story takes place in the Norman-verse. You can check out my earlier posts or the master post, I will create later to learn more about this universe, but essentially, Normen are giants with a different culture and bodies than humans.)
Tumblr media
She likes a boy.
Part 1
Katy Kiragan is the cutest girl at school. She's also the smartest and the funniest and the nicest, and she's also my best friend in the entire world.
In a world full of rocks, Katy is a gem, the one that is the hardest to find but shines the brightest. I've never met anyone like her in my life, and even if I lived a million lifetimes, I still wouldn't find anyone like her. Katy is the only person in the world for me, but for Katy, she has the entire world. She can choose what she wants, and she would probably choose a boy, a boy who isn't the size of her finger. I just had to be a girl that measures at the same height as her pinky.
I know that I don't stand a chance, but that never stopped the daydreaming. Oh yeah, I'm daydreaming again, I should probably pay attention to what the teacher is saying. But Katy is right there, I can see her from where I'm sitting. She's concentrating, of course, because, like I said, she's smart!
She always fidgets with her hair when she's really thinking about something, like right now. I wonder what's going on in her head. I face the teacher and try to listen to his consistent ramblings about mathematics. God, I hate math. Even if I try to pay attention now, I still won't understand what is being said. It all sounds like gibberish. I stare at my empty paper on my desk.
For once, I'm glad the teacher is a giant who won't notice my blank paper easily. There's a test next week, so I'm probably going to have to figure out by myself what Mr Srell has been trying to teach me for the past half an hour. Or, I could ask Katy to help me, she probably would too. Because like I said she's nice!
I'm an anxious person, I always have been. I'm always in my head, either daydreaming or overthinking. When I was ten, my parents moved me to a Norman-human integrated school. And of course I'm scared of Normen, it would be weird for any human not to be scared.
When I met Katy, I was terrified of her. It was in a library, I always hid in the history section because I loved reading the books. But it also because no other kids were ever there. I had the place all to myself. Until the day I didn't.
That was the day Katy moved to the school too. Turns out she's also a history nerd like me. She found me hiding behind one of the books. All I wanted to do was run away. That's when she made a joke, and I laughed because I said she's funny!
From day we were inseparable. Our parents met each other, we had sleepovers. We talked every day, and when I'm talking to her, I don't care about the other terrifying giants or scary humans, it's just us. And I feel safe.
I was about thirteen years old when I realized that I felt warm when she smiled at me. She makes me feel special in a way no one else does. Of course, I kept denying it because Katy is a girl, and she's also a girl that's a hundred times my size, but none of that matters to me. I still fell deeply, deeply in love with her. But so did everyone else at school. Because I like I said she's cute!
Math is over now, and Katy is making her way to my desk. After each period, she carries me in her hand to the next period or to the bus to go home. Like now, school is over, and I get to sit in her hand, and she tells me about her day.
She's happy today, she's practically glowing. We're talking about our dreams but I just had to ask why she was so bashful. She met a boy, he's very tall, he goes to an all boys school. As I'm listening to her, I feel smaller than ever. My heart breaks a little because she's so happy and who am I to deny her that. So I put on an act and give myself a smile. I say that I'm so happy for her. Because like I said she's also my best friend.

Oxventure - Portal Combat and Final Final Campaign Thoughts
This is gonna be a bit of an essay, but I have had a lot of thoughts over the years.
Honestly, in the end, Oxventure just managed to stick the landing for me. My one major ask with my complex relationship with this D&D show, and the reason that I stopped watching it, is that I wanted to be told a good story. I feel like sometimes when I talk to people about this, I get given the excuse that "it's just a comedy" and that you don't need to follow the rules to have a good time, neither of which is at all where my complaints lie. Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive nerd for the mechanical minutiae of 5E and love to minmax and roleplay using my character's stats and abilities, but the rules don't automatically equal a good story. It certainly can help to create a story with dramatic tension if the rules carry with them the possibility of death and failure, you only need to listen to The Adventure Zone: Balance to see that you can tell a good D&D story that follows the rules as little as it feels like, and have an overtly comedic tone, while also telling a really strong, effective story with a realised world, an escalation in dramatic tension and three dimensional characters.
I love Critical Role, Dimension 20 and that first arc of TAZ, but my personal favourite Dungeons and Dragons actual-play is Not Another D&D Podcast, which is basically the platonic idea of Oxventure (and also is more consistent and a better told story than TAZ in my opinion). The setting and characters are explicitly comedic archetypes, and they can spend half an episode riffing, but they're much more competent at keeping the story on track, which is after all, part of the reason I invest in this game. When I say that Oxventure started to get boring and receptive around Season Two, that I think they mess around riffing with each other too much, which saps time away that they could've spent developing their characters or fleshing out the world in any conceivable manner, and that they don't follow the rules enough for the game to have any tension, I want you all to bear in mind that my favourite D&D show is one that starts with a five minute conversation about dragon pussies before introducing any of the PCs, and that one PC has a possum who has the ability to scribe letters and act as a lawyer, purely because she joked about it so often the DM was forced to canonise it.
I thoroughly enjoy Johnny and the Oxboxtra crew, and I've always thought that they had it in them to tell great stories, and I was proven to be correct when their Deadlands and Blades in the Dark campaigns concluded and told amazingly compelling, dramatic stories without losing their comedy edge, and that encouraged me to give the main campaign another shot. For the most part, this final arc has been more of the same kind that I got bored by and stopped watching, but these last two episodes managed to pull through for me. The story and everything the story has ultimately been about came to head afterward the main fight with the post-climax confrontation with Lilliana.
I love the bold choices that Luke, Andy and Ellen made, technically none of those spells should have worked the way they did, but for the purpose of the story it worked. Corazon's big sacrifice was a great story beat to end on, it was a bit of a cliche, but cliches are used for a reason. What I like about Corazon and Dob's big sacrifices is that Corazon would never have done that in episode one, wheras Dob was always this good and always would have done, and his choice affirms what we love about him. Ellen acted the hell out of that scene too, I'm glad that she got a big moment as well.
This campaign is the one that got me into the TTRPG hobby, it was bittersweet to see it end after all this time. Inspired by Dob, I ended up playing my own Half-Orc Bard in a weekly campaign that lasted five real years, it's not an exaggeration to see that that was a whole and significant period of my recent life that Oxventure kicked off. Knowing now what they know about the way Oxventure turned out, I'm genuinely curious to see what they'll all do differently, since obviously they won't want it to just be the same kind of campaign a second time. I personally hope for a story that sticks the middle, as well as the landing and takeoff, but we'll see!

The Atlas Six
First of all I have to admit that I had high hopes for that book. I was quite excited to read it and couldn’t wait for it to be translated into my language.
And boy, was I dissappointed.
The plot synopsis looked promising. The characters seemed intriguing (I will talk about it more in the second part of that review). Basically it felt like the perfect mix of classic dark academia and fanstasy setting with a hint of forbidden knowledge and ancient hisory in the background.
In a way the story was… acceptable. I did go through it all. But for me it felt flat and boring at times. Olivie Blake was constantly trying to set the mood for something big to happen. But after so many pages of waiting for something significant it was just not enjoyable. And the thing that amazes me even more is that event at points where the important fact was revealed the tone of the narration was not changing even slightly.
The whole story was a one big constance.
To sum up the generic part of that review I’d say it’s a book to read when you don’t have any other on hand. Just don’t get too excited about it.
Now my favourite part - spoilers!
I’d like to talk about the characters and some main plot points of the book. Oh, and the ending.
Characters:
First of all - they started off great. Each and every one of them was shown to us in an enigmatic situation, we got to see a bit of their mysterious backgrounds. And then it just got worse.
Two (or at times even three or four) out of the main six characters were not even that „main”.
The actual main characters were Libby and Parisa and they did add significance to the story.
The sole role of Nico was to be the second part of Libby&Nico duet. His Gideon driven story had no influence on the plot.
Callum was going to be such an interesting person. He was inexplicably awful and seemed like a villain for the most part. I absolutely hated him but I saw people stating that at the end he earned their sympathy. So I waited. And got disappointed. Because we were fed the classic villain story „I’m mean because nobody loved me”. And wow, that was just so lame. Also he was barely a part of the whole grup.
Tristan had some potential to become an important character but his story basically consisted of two arcs: being in love with Parisa and being rude to everybody else, being in love with Libby. Talk about character development.
On the note of character development I saw some comments online complaining that there was none included. My question: how can there be any character development happening when absolutely nothing happens in the story? The characters basically exist in a villa full of books doing, well, nothing, really.
The biggest loss for me was Reina - I absolutly fell in love with her during her first chapter. And then she was basically non-existent. And I mean it literally. If she was not included in the story, nothing would have changed. Even her chapters were about other people. Her purpose in the story was… I don’t even know what it was. And it infuriates me.
Libby was supossed to be an annoying nerd who was written as neither of those.
Parisa was a big walking red flag. A girl who manipulated people with intercourse? Bold choice.
Dalton Ellery? Character charisma of a cooked carrot.
Atlas Blakely? The apparent master-mind of it all? The buildup to that particular point of the story was (again) non-existent. Atlas had the same chance to be the actual villain of the story as Tristan’s ex-fiancee. That reveal was painful to read.
And finally - Ezra. I don’t even know how to comment that. We get a guy with no personality. His only encounters we see are with Libby (who finally dumps him). We get one out-of-context chapter of him talking and (revealed at the end) Atlas listening.
And then when I thought nothing worse will happen in the story we get an info-dump of… like the whole backgroud of it all. Again, with no buildup. It’s not even a plot twist. You usually can suspect the facts revealed in the plot twist. Here, we had no material to base the suspicions on.
Oh, and at the end? When Ezra turns to be the head of the Forum? Shocking! Only, what is Forum? Do we know anything about it? Olivie Blake did not give us any information about the organization for us to suspect that they are… significnt or important in any way. Ezra could have been a head of &%$& and my reaction would have been the same.
Plot:
That book was about nothing. It’s amazing because it consists of over 400 pages.
The Alexandrian Library played no part in the story. I was hoping to learn something about it, to get to unravel some supposedly ancient knowledge. But nope.
Also at points it felt like The Secret History by Donna Tartt: a peculiar group of young people attending lectures with the teacher monologuing eloquently, spending their time doing questionable activities - also somebody is going to die. At the hands of the rest of the group. The stories are really similar.
Dalton monologuing is basically Julian vol. 2 just more boring. At some points I felt like I’ve already read that book.
And my favourite part - the ending. What on Earth was that? I don’t think I actually have the words to describe it. It made no sense. We were informed about things that should have made it more clear but didn’t. Ezra kidnaps his ex-girlfriend not even because he wants to save her, but just because he knows her features better than he knows the others’. What a great reason. Altas pretends to care or actually cares - I don’t know, he’s so bland. Ezra is a part of the master-mind plan. The end.
All in all, not a great read. What makes me sad is that it seems like now it’s enough to slap the dark academia theme and TikTok goes crazy. The internet got me excited about the book and the book disappointed me.

SnakeFace episode 7 script
This is where the script starts to get consistent with the story, so I apologize for any repetitions or confusing elements of the first 6 episode scripts, because (keep in mind) episodes 7-11 are rewrites of the ORIGINAL script. There will be several inconsistencies with the previous script, but not with the comic itself (which I highly recommend reading before reading the script). Thank you
[episode script under cut]
[I'd also like to mention that in the original version of episode 7, Graves called his class "nerd herd."]
Ivan is about to leave, his mother gives him Thomas’ jacket saying he’d want Ivan to have it. Ivan and Kim leave for school.
As Ivan and Kim are talking, Ivan feels as if someone is watching him, a shiver running down his spine. He spins around, catching only a glimpse of dispersing fog. But he swears he saw something, or someone else.
  “Ivan, you alright?” Kim asks.
“Yeah…” Ivan turns around. “I just thought I… saw someone.”
Kim, with a worried look on her face, keeps walking, Ivan following along. He said he was fine, but Kim could tell by the shaking that he wasn’t being completely honest.
They arrived at the campus, the grass out on the front lawn was a deep healthy green, large evergreens, and deciduous trees sheltered the building from the rest of the town, lying on the edge just between the city and the woods. He looked at the people; tall, short, thin, wide, pale, dark, masculine, feminine, all things defining humanity and yet… none of them were human. Large disc-like ears, large eyes, more eyes, fewer eyes, tails, more arms, no arms, horns, wings, fur, scales, anything that would normally be used to define anything else other than a human. He finally… belonged. The only thing actually seemed the most mundane there was Kim, and even then he knew she held much more to her character than her appearance.
Ivan then caught the attention of a certain red-haired vampire. He smiled and ran over to the two, the clouds covering the ground so that he could walk among the people.
“Ivan!” He called. “You’re here! So, ya changed your mind, yeah?”
“I did,” Ivan said awkwardly. “It’s weird for me to not have to hide all… this.”
He gestured to his upper body. “I figured it would be better for me to try things again rather than to live like a black sheep.”
“I’ve seen far weirder, and grosser, than having the face of a snake. Trust me, Lilli has it far worse than you.”
  “Lilli?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Val’s face flattened and he turned to the side. He turned back with a close-mouthed smile. “You better get to class then, wouldn’t want to be late on the first day. And hey,”
He put his hand on Ivan’s shoulder. “If Garroth or anyone else gives you any trouble you tell me. You’ll do fine.”
Ivan nodded. The first bell rang and the three entered the building, heading their separate ways to their classes. Ivan pulled out his phone, pulling up the picture of his schedule he had taken earlier that morning. Right off the bat, he had English. At least it wasn’t math. Their schedules were broken up into five classes per semester, three core classes and two electives, not counting study hall just before lunch, and a different set of classes each term.
“This should be easy,” Ivan muttered, entering the classroom.
<time skip to study hall>
Ivan’s next class was on the second floor of the school in the third building, taking the hallway between the third and middle buildings on the second floor. It was like nothing he’d ever seen at a school, the campus and class levels seeming more like a university or academy than a high school.
His teacher, a man named Graves, introduced him to the class and sent him to find a free seat. He walked into the room marked on his schedule, choosing a seat near the back away from the window.
The teacher began talking, explaining something about a school event for the juniors and seniors, but Ivan was a sophomore so it didn’t apply to him. As he was talking, a girl shrieked and jumped up into her chair. Ivan glanced over.
“Mouse! There’s a mouse on the floor!” She shouted in a high voice. Several other students picked their feet and belongings up off the floor while Ivan, among others, shrugged it off.
“Calm down,” the teacher said. “It’s only a mouse, it won’t bite you.”
“Maybe the snake kid’ll eat it,” one of the other students muttered to his friends, who snickered at the mockery. Ivan buried his face in his arms, trying to shy away. Graves didn’t seem to hear.
When the mouse crawled near the boy and his friends, one of them picked it up and threw it at Ivan. It landed on his desk and he flinched, bolting upright and glaring at the boys, who were audibly laughing. Graves slammed his hands on his desk.
“You four!” He shouted. “I will not be tolerating any sort of mockery, teasing, shaming or other forms of esteem-diminishing harassment to other students in my class. You should all be very ashamed. Outside, now.”
The boys snapped up. “It’s just a joke, we weren’t doing anything wrong-”
“Out. Side. How would you feel if someone were to come along and torment you for who you are? Get out of my class.”
The four boys angrily snatched up their things and left the classroom. Graves sighed heavily and rubbed the bridge of his nose. The bell to start lunch rang, ending the study hall. Ivan was the last one to leave the room, the startled mouse cupped in his hands.
“Ivan,” Graves caught him on his way out. “If there is ever a time someone gives you hell, talk to me. Other teachers may follow common nonviolent school protocol but I don’t give it the time of day. If you have any problems I’ll deal with it, alright?”
Ivan nodded. “What do I do with the mouse?”
Graves held his hands out, Ivan gently passing the small mouse to him. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of things.”
Ivan left the room, heading down to the first floor to look for Kim and Val. He caught sight of the pink and red hair, making his way over, but was stopped by a rather annoying wall of a ghoul; Garroth.
“Hey there little python,” Garroth sneered. “Going somewhere?”
Ivan ducked his head down. “Can you just leave me alone.”
“What’s that? You’re gonna have to speak up.”
“I don’t want to talk to you Garroth.”
Garroth’s grin fell. He reached his hand out to place it on Ivan’s shoulder but another hand quickly grabbed his wrist before he could touch the snake. The black-painted nails and pale skin let Ivan know who it was before he even looked; Val. The vampire pushed himself between Ivan and Garroth, letting go of the ghoul’s wrist.
“Don’t let him touch you, Ivan,” warned the vampire. “If he gets his hand on you he’s able to manipulate your thoughts.”
“Oh, what’s the fun in telling him that,” Garroth loomed over the two.
“He’s a sin ghoul, there are seven styles, one for each deadly sin. Unfortunately, we’re stuck with the worst brand of ‘em, wrath. He can influence anyone he touches to become angry beyond their own will and then he feeds on it, making him stronger.”
Garroth’s lip curled into a snarl, grabbing Val’s collar and pulling him forward. Before he could even say anything Val hissed in his face, head-butting the ghoul. Garroth growled angrily as Val had bought enough time for them to get away. The vampire grabbed Ivan’s arm and ran to hide from the ghoul. Ivan’s eye caught that of a strange girl with bright green hair and strange eyes.
Garroth’s clawed hand reached out for Ivan, just barely missing his jacket before the snake and the vampire disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Ivan shook his head out, clearing the smoke as an upset Kim stood with her arms crossed, eyes black from using magic.
“You are going to be the death of me,” she complained. “Don’t expect me to be here every time you need a quick getaway.”
“I had it covered,” Val shrugged. “We would’ve been fine.”
“Sure, you’re fine now, but it’s when you aren’t that I just know you’ll come to me for help.”
“Relax, Kimber, we trust you. Won’t happen again, promise.”
“Don’t make a promise you can’t keep, Valentine.”
“Hey, easy on the full name.”
“You two seem to get along well already,” Ivan muttered.
“Val and I have like four classes together. Plus after the café, he’s been watching my back to make sure we don’t have any more trouble.
“Guess we weren’t so lucky today.”
  “Guess not.”

Select excerpts from a DM to my friend:
Oh look! It’s Crash’em Bash’em! But N. Gin can’t be on your team and barely appears in it. Though he does show us his balls. 😈 Though I wish it was more like the picture in the book you gave me. 👀💦💦
OMG that took forever to put in because I just took 3 hits of Yellow Fruit Stripes and it feels like my body is turning into a spiral. 🌀 like that’s my head in the centre and my feet at the top but I’m not even a straight line enough like that it’s like if a light ent a spy split spit spiral and every thing is made out of fuzz holy
I’m going to be like the guy with the Nerds Rope any second 🫠
-anyway, then I started enjoying N. Gin’s balls. But moving on from N. Gin’s balls. Sorry, I can’t stop saying N. Gin’s balls. I just love having N. Gin’s balls in my mouth. I know what I said.
Holy. Noises now sound like they are coming from 45° to the left of where they’re actually coming from. Rowan is on the rug but I hear him in the treasure chest.
Daisy is in jutchen but sounds like my room.
He’s trying to be welcoming but Daisy is having none of it. Earlier he was relaxing and pretended not to notice her as she went by so that she wouldn’t run from him.
Anyway anwyay, if they dont, they can bring us over there. I’ll get you a Notre Dame shirt with the fighting Leperchain.
Wow. Back to stuff related to what we were talking about! Take it slow on the relation ship station ship but you can drop ancor in any port and whirl away.
Whirl away! On the power of dodo gas. ⛽️ 🦤💨
Tumblr media
I mean where away. Anywye. I have a story. It isn’t my story, it’s from the book that tells the eagle feather story. That’s such a good book. Anyzwhs I was downloading the peg I mean PDF and realized that I was doing that because I want to read it again but it would be too fuzzy to send you the text of the story. I tell you about jt when wen FaceTime on the weekend.
It’s a scary animation I saw many years ago about the apocalypse. Not the one with the squirrels. But that’s a good one too. I’ll add it. And the mouse one.
Leoperous. Is that the name of a real thing or what words did you fuse together. I mean a real mythological thing ~~you know, like our relationships BLAMMO!!!!! lololololololol I find that disproportionately funny so I’ll move on~~ Revelation in the Blibble has all kinds of bizarre things: sword-mouth Jesus, seven headed dragons, Leopears, ape bears, and bandagos. Which are admittedly way more metal than the modern pagan afterlife that consists of a body being returned to the matter of the cosmos.
Tumblr media
It’s a leopard Cerberus eagle, it would seem. An Eagleoparberus. I dare you to go to a science event and say you read research article about [famous scientist with a ton of street cred] had discovered a new prehistoric animal in the genus Eagleoparberus. See if anyone questions it or argues.
But the Weber’s slices are getting pretty tiny. I mean wheel slices for when we spin it to pick a film.

My issue with Godwoken graphic novel and its execution
I think it's time to make it into a coherent post instead of just letting bits and pieces known in asks or random replies so let's go. Godwoken Graphic Novel was my first contact with the medium. Not great, but it is what it is. Now with several Witcher ones under my belt, it's definitely easier to pinpoint all things done wrongly, misguided, or in a simply disrespectful fashion.
The premise:
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Godwoken - Collector's Edition Dive into this brand new hardback filled with six brand new adventures; telling the origin stories of Rivellon’s godwoken; Ifan, Lohse, Red Prince, Sebille, Fane and Beast.
Rivellon is coming to the world of graphic novels! Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Godwoken is the accumulated history of the six godwoken of Divinity: Original Sin 2. Who were they before their trails with the Divine Order, or before travelling to the Hall of Echoes? Everyone starts somewhere. Everyone has an origin story.
Explore the events leading up to the start of Divinity: Original Sin 2, from the perspective of all 6 Godwoken heroes of our tale.
This 300+ page full-colour graphic novel will take you on a journey through never-before seen areas of Rivellon. Ever wondered what Fane looked like in the flesh? Curious about Red Prince’s life as the crown jewel of the Forgotten City? Journey with Ifan as the Divine’s right-hand man, and explore the lives of Sebille, Beast, and Lohse up to the moment of the ill-fated Kraken attack that starts the epic tale that is Divinity:Original Sin 2.
Let's tackle down the hydra starting with the heads. #1 Inconsistencies Ever wondered what Fane looked like in the flesh? This is what personally prompted me to buy the book in a spirit of hype-fueled urgency, in collector's edition no less, and free my wallet of more or less 300 PLN (or 6 Witcher Ronin novels - 128 pages each). I read the entire thing as a zealous inquisitor would the Bible - rapidly losing steam with each flip of the page. Why? Well... Ifan, a Magister before the existence of Magisters
The Lorebook of D:OS2 states plainly: 1235 AD The Divine Order after Lucian
Under Lucian, the Divine Order grew large, and after his death it grew fractious. Its core function remained – to serve the Divine – but Lucian was no more. Without a leader, the Order began to fracture. Without a Divine, the Order struggled to protect the people of the world from the Voidwoken. The hope brought by Lucian’s hard-won peace was soon replaced with despair amongst the people and tension within the Order. Resolving this conflict is one of the most pressing issues for the Order’s new leader – Alexandar, Lucian’s only surviving son.
That Magisters as a fraction of the Order existed only after Lucian's death. What's more, we know that before this schism happened - Lucian's Order consisted mostly of Paladins - we play as one during the events of Beyond Divinity (1238 AD). So if Ifan served under Lucian well before that time (Chaos War 1233 AD) he'd have to join the Divine as a Paladin - most of which were of noble descent but did not overlook gifted and dedicated recruits of other walks of life. Recruits, as opposed to Magisters, Paladins are said to go through meticulous military training before joining the ranks proper. This notion may or may not be inspired by an older organization - Source Hunters who are known to train in Academies as far as 4 AD. Meanwhile, we see Ifan wear a Magisterial Red-Gold-Silver combo as opposed to Paladin gold and white
Tumblr media
Old Paladin design:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the picture limit might kick my ass in this post but I want to include as many sources as possible) Naturally, this inconsistency extends over every Magister we see in Ifan's chapter. A notable technical inconsistency on pages 5-9 | 13-14 is that Lucian's eyes randomly flicker between normal, human ones and Divine all-white sclera, and his cloak disappears in the panels on page 5 A bard and a....who?
Now, this is not my own complaint, but my boyfriend frequently pointed out that Nick's appearance is quite random and was not mentioned in the game at all. While I can excuse it with Lohse's memory going more or less blank during her 'episodes' and the indication that Nick might not be real at all - I see it could be jarring to introduce a character this important with no covering in the base material. While Loshe's chapter is among the few that get their job done quite well storytelling-wise I will discuss a few instances from here in another segment regarding worldbuilding and pop-culture references. An assassin in the pale moonlight
Not much to add here either, my biggest irk is visual and regards Sebille's hair color that is portrayed as black while the concept arts and key arts show her with brown hair. And maybe that the Needle is, in fact, a dagger and not some intricate lizard war needle was a bit disappointing, and that her tattoos are mixed together on her arm while they should be separate, but in comparison to other inconsistencies, they really are minor. Kudos for getting the D:OS1 goblin designs spot-on. It was a breeze of fresh air to see accurate portrayals. Again, just as with Lohse's chapter, the biggest sin is not in writing per se, but in the graphical portrayal of certain things that I will discuss at length later.
Beast o' the seas
Honestly, besides Isbeil not looking like herself, there's not much negative I can say on Beast's part. And I am RELIEVED to say that. The old sailor deserved that much. His story suffers only from constraints (like all of them, this SHOULD have been a series) Gods bless Beast's chapter.
The Spouse of the Sun
Once more, his part works. Minus the horrorscape/dream snippet - Sadha looks nothing like her in-game model or concept art, plus on page 254 the color of her scales looks green-ish? Sometimes you just can't have everything. Still, a positive overall.
The scholar of a bygone....oh God
I bitched, I bemoaned, I wailed and I cried over the mishandling (mutilation?) of Fane's chapter and the vitriol in me threatens to overflow still, so let's get straight to it.
If Elves in Ifan's chapter could speak in their own language, so should Eternals - Including the differences in Fane's name (Fane is a 'placeholder' he picked in place of his own, and Xantezza is referred to Xantessa in old sources)
Architecture......just.......no. Just for formalities' sake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The appearance of the Eternals......Gods please, anything but 80s fantasy standards (especially when the concept arts are so detailed)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The King audience should be played off differently (maybe not in front of the WHOLE court (full of randos?? Where's Aetera??) I also expected Harina to be there with him.
CRIMINAL LACK OF AETERA IN FLESH I REPEAT - A CRIMINAL LACK! It's even a more slap-to-the-face that she's included in one of the additional arts at the end of the Collector's Edition
Eternal Guards should not probably wield swords and look like background characters from The Red Prince's chapter.
Dallis should have been playing with her mask - a good opportunity to explain HOW IN THE HELLS DID HE DO IT WITHOUT ETERNALS DYING OFTEN TO GIVE HIM A CORPSE/FACE TO MAIM
Fane's wife is ugly - the only win in this chapter (I know I know, I'm joking no I am not)
Fane's laboratory......point 2 and let's move on.
Eternals had paper (or a substitute) - in the form of scrolls, yes. But not BOOKS to permanently record knowledge - that is what tablets and memory banks were for! PLEASE.
The Seven...Point 3. I beg of you.
The concept of food as shown in the secret meeting panels is quite questionable. We know Eternals feed on Source (Source Vampirism is their racial skill) and that their digestive systems seem to be 100% efficient (hence why Fane is appalled by the concept of advanced digestion later on) so ????
Why are the Guards tying him with a linen rope like it's a bondage session?
The tombs that look...nothing like the tombs we see in the game! Neato!
Oh, so now Fane can distinctly speak Eternal and not be understood...? Okay...Okay?
Tumblr media
Fane in-game > abhors violence, feels bad about purging that other guy dead. Fane in the novel> Hello, would you like to talk to the handaxe I pulled out of nowhere? Also being the brilliant wizard that I am?
If a knife and a face were all that Fane needed to make his mask, his bitching in Fort Joy would never have happened.
His elven face looks nothing like the one in the game (it does in my copy of the book, I sharpied it)
And now, the absolute cherry on top... Let's point something out. In Ifan's chapter - Ifan's wolf is shown. In Lohse's chapter - Lohse's Maddening Song is shown. In Sebille's- break the shackles. In Beast's and TRP - both demonic stare and tempest are used. So please do tell me, why in cold hell is Fane's MOST unique ability of them all NOT SHOWN AT ALL. We still don't know HOW he mastered time manipulation! Why! Nothing!
#2 Worldbuilding and pop-culture references
A graphic novel is a finely controllable medium - unlike a videogame, the consumer has generally only one way of interacting with it - reading. Now, every panel should move the story further but while this is the core function of a comic what happens in the background has an equally important role - building a wider picture. The buildings, peoples, and things happening in the background can be just as informative as the foreground. The question is: do we want to fill a section with informative details or cram in as much junk as possible? Godwoken novel's approach is very lax in regard to worldbuilding, up to a point where relatively important information gets replaced by a joke. By no means should there be no humor in graphic novel layouts, but there are more or less apt places to do it.
Tumblr media
Let's look at this particular scene from Sebille's chapter - it's quite a powerful moment in the whole scope of her character. I'd like to note that Mindaran is the elf she was made to kill within the pages of the novel - a list of her victims was kept on her right arm and the names on the left - were the ones killed for revenge. But, well, maybe it was an issue with running out of pages and was done for brevity's sake. Let's let it rest. What, in my opinion truly detracts value from this scene is all the funky 'reference' names written on her arm. Rubus is the nickname of the artist - less known and quite within reason (and within bonds of the history of artists' signatures). Boromir and Drizzt however share none of those excuses. It feels somehow disrespectful, especially in the context of Sebille's tattoos to put random pop-culture names in there. Was she the one to kill Boromir? Really? On a more serious note, this wouldn't be too bad if we had other, unbiased source about Sebille's victims - but it just so happens that we do not and somewhat important information (to us - lore enthusiasts, and to Sebille herself) gets buried for the sake of a quip. There were definitely better places to make these references than Sebille's skin. Same with Lohse's chapter and the reference to the Hobbit. I love Hobbit as the next child raised on Tolkien's stories (it's even a school lecture where I come from - the only fantasy book on our reading list) But I'd much rather see a reference to older Divinity, rather than a completely foreign universe. Zandalor's character is a walking reference to Gandalf! Why not use him here with Arhu as Bilbo.
Tumblr media
I haven't seen anything similarly tactless in Witcher novels, and they were filled with references to the brim! (Several ones made me pause and re-evaluate the context to get them, but it was amazing to have that 'eureka!' moment)
And this pretty much wraps up my feelings about the novel. A lot of goodwill executed terribly poorly and with, well, I'd like to say profit in mind, but that would warrant a series and not one-shot book, so maybe with a riding-the-wave tendency instead? The book did come out whole 3 years after the game too, so there was more than enough time to reconsider the direction, but seemingly not enough time for quality control. (As a side note, my book was bought in 2021 and it's already falling apart - the hardcover really wants to go its own way after sporadic, careful use). I think by then Larian already was in the BG3 deal, and if they really wanted (just like Witcher devs) they could find a studio to handle comic distribution for them and get the Divinity fans something to latch on to during Baldur's development. Not to mention it would be a great solution to filling or straightening up the plot holes and bridging the gap between old and new lore. Alas, it is what it is. Pity.

Gonna try to phrase this as specifically as I can, because I've been thinking about it for a while:
I think some of the ttrpg social media scene has a particular reaction to CR's success because they view them as outsiders or interlopers.
To explain: even though CR was one of the first (and certainly the first big) streaming D&D games, they were also set up for success in multiple ways that lots of other streamers just don't have access to. They didn't just try to stream on their own initially - they were pitched to and picked up by possibly the first "streaming studio" platform, Geek and Sundry. That meant that, from the jump, they had a producer, a dedicated space for the show in a studio, equipment, and tech people. We obviously saw the quality of especially the equipment improve over the years, but it was there from the start.
They also had a built-in potential audience, from multiple angles. G&S was an incredibly popular tabletop streaming channel hosting the Wil Wheaton's TableTop show and run by Felicia Day - who could easily have been described as "queen of the nerd internet" in 2015. And speaking of Felicia, there's a whole other layer to her involvement that guaranteed built-in and wide-reaching promotion. She has millions of followers and was huge(r) in the online nerd scene 6 years ago. Felicia tweets about the show? Potentially hundreds of new viewers tune in. I think a lot of people looking at everything now just have no concept of how big G&S was at the time - especially because it essentially no longer exists. They streamed every day, they had a dedicated studio, consistent G&S personalities, and dozens of shows.
Not to mention, the CR players themselves were bringing in a built-in audience. They were voice actors with established careers who were well-known in certain niche spaces. The show could be pitched as Roy Mustang or Gaara or Jaina Proudmoore or Ellie playing D&D. When people talk about CR as "lightening in a bottle" it's definitely a "right place right time" in terms of people being interested in D&D and enjoying a well-crafted story, but it's also that all of these elements aligned as well: Felicia and her studio, and the built-in base of G&S and animation/video game fans.
This isn't in any way meant to diminish CR's hard work or success - none of this would have mattered if they hadn't been extremely entertaining and worked incredibly hard on their story and characters. But they had an infrastructure around them by virtue of their industry that is not typical of ttrpg people.
And many up-and-coming streams now are coming from a very different place. And I think, to a large extent, there's a feeling that CR aren't "really" ttrpg people, and they aren't viewed as being part of "the hobby" in the same way game designers and people who only do ttrpg content are. And to a certain extent, they aren't allowed to be just "individuals who like games" because of some of the other support they had from the start. There's often a feel of "these actors who decided to be gamers for profit and stole the audience from the rest of us" coming from the ttrpg scene. Matt might be the exception to this, as he's often pointed to as a life-long DM and someone who's contributed via publishing to the space, but I think CR as a group/channel as a whole is sort of an outlier in the ttrpg space that has popped up since, and is therefore sort of resented as interlopers who have risen to dominance in another space via industry connections and name recognition.

Vintage Books and Midnight Promises (Tattooed!Bakugou x Bookworm!Reader) Modern!AU
Tumblr media
Warnings: none, just fluff. features Child!Eijirou, Child!Izuku and brief Dadzawa at the end
Synopsis: Your days are brightened by the appearance of Eijirou and Izuku but you don’t recognize the tattooed man who accompanied the two children into your bookshop one day. But he finds his way into your heart and before you can stop it, you’re already in too deep for the man with tattoos that rippled like the purest form of water and smelled like blueberries hand-picked on the warmest day.
Inspired by: @all1e23 ‘s series “Astrophile” (this is one of my favorite comfort fanfics, i highly recommend it)
Words: 9.8k
Tumblr media
It was a beautiful, sunny day.
Steam coming from a hot cup of coffee curled in the air and you sighed as you set down the porcelain teacup that had been a gift from your grandmother on the front desk, sinking deeper into the velvety cushion of your seat as you basked in the tranquility of the empty store before the bell on the door would inevitably ring again.
The musty yet homey scent of secondhand books clung to the worn pages in all the stories of mystery, fantasy and nonfiction that filled the old and rickety oak shelving you had bought at an auction five years ago.
The cornershop sat at the end of a particularly quaint neighborhood in the small town you lived in and you couldn’t imagine anything else more relaxing other than grabbing a cup of coffee from the loft upstairs and curling up with a good book until store hours were over.
You got a steady stream of regulars and occasionally a few new faces here and there that ended up coming back quite frequently. You hoped that had something to do with the notion that they liked to read, since that’s all you could really hold a conversation about.
The latest thriller that was published or that underrated author that never seemed to get enough attention in your opinion, even though their work was such a delight for you to read, whatever it was, you could talk about books for hours.
Maybe that’s why it was so hard to act normal around those vastly more social than you.
Ever since you could remember, you had your nose buried in a book, bumping into street lamps and crashing into people as you failed to look up for even a second to see where you were going.
People never seemed to quite understand you, why you preferred the company of books over people, but you didn’t need them to understand. Books were all you had and you liked to keep it that way.
Books were consistent and there would always be more literature to read.
Luckily, it was a weekday so business was pretty slow and in just another hour, you would be free to finish up repainting the storefront.
But first, you needed to conclude this book. You were so close to the ending and the author had been stringing you along on a thread of hope that the protagonist was going to make it out and save the day, you were on the edge of your seat!!
Your eyes flitted across the pages at a speed too fast for human eyes to comprehend and you were so engrossed in the book that you didn’t notice the shadow that passed by outside.
You jumped as the door to your little bookshop flew open with a bang, losing your balance from where you had been perched on your favorite stool and crashed to the floor.
Sitting up with a groan of pain, you rubbed your now sore bottom and winced. “Ow…”
You hadn’t anticipated someone coming and wreaking havoc on your little shop. It was a good thing you had a good memory and had marked the page you left off of in your head or else that customer that had so rudely barged in would be getting more than just some curt words from you.
“Sorry.” A curt and gruff apology came from over the counter and your mouth pressed in a hard line as you got to your feet.
“Is everything alright?” You asked slowly, brushing the dust off of your clothes and making eye contact with the stranger for the first time.
In front of you was some punk who had incredibly intricate tattoos visible on his arms.
You eyed him up and down. He was pretty tall. Okay, correct that, he towered a good head over you, but what was the most intimidating was that scowl on his face that looked like it was permanently glued there for some reason.
His shoulders were broad and even under that sleeveless tank he was wearing, his muscles rippled and you rolled your eyes.
So he was one of those.
But you stopped a bit of ink twining up his neck and cocked an eyebrow at the prospect of him having more underneath his clothes.
You didn’t react despite where your mind just went, internally screaming at yourself to get a grip.
Guys like him didn’t randomly walk into a bookshop like yours. You had half a mind to call the police, thinking he was about to loot your store, but hesitated because he hadn’t done anything and it was wrong to judge someone you didn’t know under stereotypes that were groomed into you from a young age.
Not to mention, if he actually was going to rob you for whatever reason, he wouldn't have announced his presence like that.
Unless he was an idiot. Either one was equally possible at the moment while you waited for him to say something. Anything.
“Didn’t mean to scare you.” He said shortly after a pause, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly and your stance softened a bit when you noticed how uncomfortable he looked. You could understand that feeling.
Plastering a smile on your face, you leaned back and shrugged, accepting what you suspected to be his version of an apology. “It’s okay, it was an accident.”
“Miss Y/N!!! Miss Y/N!!! Down here!!!”
“We’re down here!!!”
The small, childish chorus had your eyes brightening up in an instant as you recognized the voices and you were racing out from behind the counter within a second.
“Eijirou, Izuku!!” You knelt down to hug both of the toddlers tightly. “I didn't know you two were coming today!!”
They normally came on the weekends with their dad, it was so rare to see them on a weekday, with a new face nonetheless.
Eijirou’s shiny red eyes blinked up at you and he beamed brightly while Izuku shuffled his feet self-consciously, sniffling as he clutched his All Might plushie tight to his chest.
You cooed, lifting his chin sweetly to wipe away the tears. “What's wrong, Izuku?”
He sniffled, hugging his comfort plushie tighter as he pointed up to the scowling man that had accompanied them. “He… He’s mean.”
The ash-blond’s forehead creased in annoyance as you sent him a questioning look. “Shut your mouth, you fucking brat!!”
You covered Eijirou and Izuku’s ears, glaring at him. He matched it in intensity and it wasn’t until you saw how he wasn’t going to back down that you sighed, breaking off eye contact and conceding as you caught the tears streaming down Izuku’s round cheeks.
“Yeah, he’s big and scary, let’s leave him here, okay?” You said to the little boy, pretending not to notice the punk’s glare following the two of you as you led the now cheered up Izuku over to the back of the store.
Every time they came, you made sure to have the children’s area brushed up for them. The floor to ceiling windows in that one corner in the back had deep purple curtains drawn open during the day, shining light directly on the soft leather sofa that belonged to your family.
The perfect place to read.
A tug on the man’s hand had him looking down.
“Bakugou!!” The red-haired toddler shouted excitedly, frantically pulling him to where you were at only to run out of breath from his efforts as the man didn’t budge. “I want to go too!!”
“You’re staying here where I can see you, Shitty Hair.” Bakugou grumbled, running an exasperated hand through his spiky hair as he waited for the other brat to come back so that they could leave.
“You can come with!!” Eijirou begged, still trying to convince the stubborn man who was their guardian for the time being while their dad was busy. He huffed and puffed but still he didn’t move an inch.
He snorted haughtily, his grip tightening on the brat’s when he switched tactics and tried to pry off the hand that was holding his. “Like hell I would.”
Eijirou’s lower lip wobbled dangerously as he stopped fighting. “But you promised!!”
Bakugou inwardly groaned and looked away from the toddler. Tears from the brats were his fucking weakness and he hated it. But he still wasn’t going to let him.
The only reason why he agreed to take them here in the first place was because they wouldn’t shut up, begging for him to take them to the bookstore that they visited every week with their dad over and over again, promising that they wouldn’t ask for anything else the whole rest of the day.
They just wanted to see you.
Bakugou only agreed because they crossed their hearts that they would be quiet if he took them and if they didn’t make good on their word, then he would blow them up.
But what he didn’t mention was that he was a little intrigued by the girl that they talked about excitedly all the way there.
Tch, shitty brats. Fucking annoying.
Eijirou never cared about his threats when he declared that he would blow them up, going so far as to smile brightly in his face, completely unaffected while that shitty nerd’s face went ashen and lost all its color as he cowered behind his brother to avoid the scary man that towered over them.
Izuku lacked the spine that Eijirou had.
Bakugou pushed off the counter that he was leaning against as you came back into view with a happy Izuku in tow.
Eijirou visibly deflated and tears welled up at the corners of his eyes. “You’re all done? B-But I wanted to pick some out too!!”
You hushed him softly as you saw how close he was to sobbing, crouching down to his level and ruffled his hair. “You can choose what you want too, Eiji.”
His whole face lit up. “Really?!”
“Of course!!” You reassured with a smile, the edges of your eyes crinkling as you stood up and offered him your other hand that wasn’t joined with Izuku’s. But after Izuku swung your hand, you took that as your cue to let go. “Come on!!”
This time, Bakugou wasn’t fast enough to intervene as Eijirou took your hand and zoomed off with you trailing behind him, practically dragging you behind him as he took on the personality of a race car. He gritted his teeth in annoyance, wanting nothing more than to leave this place that had absolutely no business with and he clenched his hands into fists, storming over to where the two of you ran off to with full intention of grabbing the shitty brat and exiting with nothing more than a word.
But he faltered at the sound of your laughter bouncing off the bookshelves and unconsciously retracted his hand as he turned the corner.
To be honest, he didn’t know what made him stop. But seeing you there, with Eijirou tuckered out in your lap as you read him a book, Izuku bounding past him just to cuddle up on your other side was making him soft.
Fuck emotions. He hated having a heart.
You were seated on a huge, tan leather sofa that looked worn with age and was packed with brightly-colored pillows that looked much softer than he wanted to admit as he found himself drifting towards the three of you.
Truth be told, he only took them here because they were begging for either this or the zoo and he could not fucking stand the zoo.
What the fuck was so interesting about animals locked in a pen?
“Get up brats, we’re leaving.” Bakugou barked, glaring pointedly at the fucking brats when they cracked their eyes open as you stopped reading.
A chorus of whines and protests followed by some very pouty begging made you crack a smile at his unchanging demeanor.
“You know~” You sang, holding back a giggle at the suspicious look the man shot you as you shut the children’s book you were reading in favor of glancing at the two kids out of the corner of your eye. “I do have a ton of pizza that needs to be finished today. I don't suppose there's anyone out there that can help me with such a big task.”
Izuku and Eijirou shrieked in delight, bouncing up and down on the sofa, alternating between screaming yes and pleading for him to let them stay.
Bakugou, on the other hand, was fucking irritated as hell.
You were trying to bribe him with pizza? How un-fucking-believable. You were worse than the two troublemakers shrieking so loud, it felt like his head was going to split. He didn’t believe what he just heard. But was it working?
Yup.
Because your sundress flared around your knees as you crossed your legs to accommodate both the boys. The tresses of your hair fell around your face so softly he vaguely wondered if it was even possible for someone to look so innocent while conducting a pizza scheme.
Izuku scratched his head cutely as he yawned widely, exhausted from all the hopping he just did as Eijirou began to jump up and down around you, his endless energy coming off of him in waves.
“We can help!!!” He cried, tugging Izuku upright and the little boy stumbled, landing on his rear on the couch with an ‘oof’.
But he didn't cry. Instead, he tilted his head curiously and blinked. “We can?”
“Yes!!” Eijirou insisted. He wanted pizza. He loved pizza. And Bakugou never treated them to it whenever he watched them, he said it would make them fat. “Please Bakugou!!!”
You raised an eyebrow as you heard the punk’s name for the first time. It sounded fitting for such a stoic and emotionless person that he was portraying at the moment as he crossed his arms over his chest and glared at the red-haired toddler.
Bakugou rolled his eyes. “What did I tell you about referring to your elders, Shitty Hair?”
“Ahh!!” You blurted out, sending him a sharp look that was meant to reprimand him. “Don't swear in front of them!!”
Bakugou glared at you uncaringly and you matched it, throwing in a pout for good measure.
You had no idea what was giving you all this confidence now. You had never been this comfortable interacting with a stranger. You blamed it on the children. They were far too familiar.
The moment of silence as you glared at each other was broken when both of the boys jumped down from the sofa at the same time.
Weird.
“Ahh, don’t go too far!!” You called out after them as you sprang up. “And don’t leave the store!!”
“M’kay!!!” Eijirou shouted back as he tugged Izuku, who was struggling to catch up, behind him. “Can I flip the sign, Miss Y/N?”
You giggled, hiding a grin from Bakugou as you nodded even though they couldn’t see. “Yes, just be careful and don’t go outside!!”
As he yelled that he knew back at you, you moved into a better light so that that one bookshelf wasn’t blocking your view of them so you could see them. Once you were in direct line of sight, your smile softened as you saw Eijirou lift Izuku up so that he could reach the sign and flip it around to show that you were closed for the day.
“They’re so sweet to each other.” You murmured to yourself.
The closeness of Bakugou’s scoff had you jumping back in surprise and you winced as your back crashed into the bookshelf behind you.
“Geez, I was going to say hell no.” Bakugou started as he chortled, smirking at you as you collected yourself. “But you’re even more of a klutz than that shitty nerd is.”
Brushing down your skirt, you coughed a couple times to cover up your blush of embarrassment. “I am not.”
“Uh, yeah you are.”
“Oh hush.” You snapped at him as the boys came bounding back, Izuku proudly holding up another book he wanted you to read for him that he found on the way back.
You giggled and ruffled his hair affectionately before asking if they’d like to continue reading here or up in the loft, to which they both sprinted to the stairs.
Well, that answered that question.
You sent a smile over your shoulder, inviting the grumpy man to follow you. “You coming or what?”
Bakugou hid a smirk as you turned back around and followed the hyperactive kids up the stairs.
You sure were interesting, he’d give you that.
And that night, the four of you fell asleep in the loft, with four boxes of cheese, pepperoni and half-eaten vegetarian pizzas surrounding you as Izuku curled up beside you and Eijirou snored on top of Bakugou’s head.
You were very happy to see that it wasn’t the last time you saw the forever annoyed man who had barged into your store.
It had been a month since that day. And since then, Bakugou had become a regular face and you dreaded how you subconsciously looked forward to when he would show up randomly.
One time, he had popped in your store just to grunt out a greeting and toss a bag at you, demanding that you eat it or else he would fucking kill you, before leaving.
Opening it up, you saw the freshly-baked blueberry muffin inside. And when you bit into it, it was delicious.
The only thing that confused you was that there was no good bakery around here, so you had absolutely no idea where he got it from.
Today, another weekday, they came again all bright smiles and sunshine and you bolted off your stool, abandoning your freshly-brewed coffee to greet them before they could even step into the bookstore.
There were still a few hours of daylight until closing time and you had some more things to finish up.
Bakugou leaned against the wall as you rearranged the display on the top shelf. The ever energetic Izuku and Eijirou had sped over to their corner the second they ran into the store, greeting you over their shoulder as the two boys tunneled past you.
You had pouted but let them go have their fun since tonight would be another night of pizza and soft drinks while you read them their favorite books.
Last time, Eijirou came to you with a stack of at least fifteen and you nearly had a laughing fit when one of them was a little too high for his age group.
He could read all those young adult novels with glorious battles featuring knights and dragons when his vocabulary increased a bit more.
A green-haired boy with freckles toddled up to you with his counterpart and buddy in crime nowhere to be seen.
Giggling, you approved the ones that Izuku held up to you with wide eyes blinking slowly.
“I’ll read it for you a little later, yeah?” You said, patting his head.
“Okay!!”
You flailed for a second as you lost your balance, the little boy disappearing from sight once again before he could realize you were off kilter due to the speed that he zipped at but a pair of strong hands settled on your waist to steady you.
Lips parting in surprise, you turned around to see Bakugou’s trademark sneer as he stared up at you.
“Dumbass.”
“Hey!!” You protested, all gratitude gone, and your lips pursed in a firm line as you disputed his claim.
But you were startled at the rough rumble that emitted from his chest and it took you a second to realize that he was laughing. At your expense, but still, it warmed your heart to hear.
“Well, look at that.” You teased. “He’s not so cold after all.”
“Tch.” Bakugou’s amusement faded as he glared at you for that but you just brushed it off.
You turned your attention back to the top shelf but misjudged the distance as you stretched out your hand. Yelping as one of the stool legs gave out, you careened to the side and squeezed your eyes shut, bracing yourself for the impact.
But your eyes shot open as you didn’t hit the ground like you expected. Instead, you landed on something softer than the hardwood floor.
When a pained groan sounded underneath you, you scrambled upright.
“Oh my gosh!! I’m so sorry!!!”
Bakugou had somehow cushioned your fall, making you land on him rather than crash to the ground.
Your cheeks flamed when you realized you were straddling his waist, hands splayed on his chest and you squeaked when he caught you staring.
“Oi, are you going to fucking stare at me all day?” Bakugou snarked and you huffed, clambering off of him clumsily.
It was a good thing you weren’t wearing a dress today. That would’ve been so embarrassing.
“I’m really sorry.” You apologized again, sheepishly tucking your hair behind your ear as you tried to appear less frazzled than you felt as he picked himself up from the floor.
Before he could say anything, though it was probably something not very nice, Izuku ran around the corner with Eijirou hot on his heels.
“Miss Y/N!!!” Izuku called out breathlessly, his chubby cheeks flushed pink from running so fast. “Miss Y/N!!! I have a secret to tell you!!”
“Izuku, I want to tell her!!!” Eijirou complained with a small pout.
“No, I want to!!!” He pushed back fiercely before he turned to you with bright forest green eyes and beamed. “Miss Y/N—”
“Bakugou has a crush on you!!!!” Eijirou interrupted, dancing in circles around you and out of Bakugou’s reach as the man swiped at him.
Bakugou snarled as the toddler screeched and dived in between his legs to escape him. “Get back here, you fucking brat!!!!”
Izuku tugged on your pant leg, tears brimming in his eyes as his lower lip trembled. “M-Miss Y/N…”
Your giggles died down as Bakugou continued to chase Eijirou and you smiled reassuringly, bending down to pick him up.
“Aww, it’s okay, Izuku.” You reassured with a chirpy smile. “If you want, we can just pretend you told me, yeah?”
He smiled and kicked his feet happily, giggling as he waved his All Might plushie back and forth.
“Do we get to stay tonight too?”
“Yup!!” You beamed, hoisting him higher as you collected the book that you needed to put away and balance it on your head so that you could hold the toddler with two hands. “I already checked it with your dad and he said it was okay!!”
Aizawa had sounded stressed when you called him but that was to be expected. His line of work was tough but he had quickly agreed to it. He had interacted with you enough to know that you looked out for them almost as much as he did.
Besides, in the small town, word got around fast. If there was dirt on you, he would’ve heard about it by now.
Izuku tugged on your braid innocently to catch your attention. “Can we leave him downstairs when you read to us?”
You giggled and booped his nose, watching it scrunch up cutely. You already knew he was talking about Bakugou. “Why do you want him to stay downstairs?”
Izuku pouted. “Because he snores too loud.”
“Hah?! Say it to my face, Deku!!!” Bakugou’s yell echoed from somewhere on the other side of the store and you slapped a hand over your mouth to stop yourself from bursting out laughing.
“C’mon,” You said softly, bouncing Izuku on your hip as you crept around the other side. “Let’s go see if we can help Eiji and then we’ll sneak upstairs before he finds us, yeah?”
“Yayyy!!!” Izuku cheered happily.
“FOUND YOU, SHITTY NERD!!!”
“Uh oh, Miss Y/N, run!!!!!”
An hour and a lot of duct tape later, Bakugou was sitting in the punishment chair for those that misbehaved while you read to the boys upstairs.
About ten minutes later, you flicked the lights off upstairs as you headed back down, being careful about which lamps to turn on since you didn’t want to wake the kids.
You fought back a grin as you saw the poorly wrapped duct tape tying his wrist to the chair. Apparently you could’ve been more clear to the boys that since the stuff was sticky, they didn’t have to necessarily tie it around his arm like string.
You were quite sure that Bakugou could've gotten up if he wanted to so you left him down there but when you finished the last book and he was nowhere to be seen, you came downstairs only to find him in the exact same position you left him in.
“What's wrong? Tied you up too tight?” You teased, knowing it had no merit.
“Ha ha, you’re so fucking funny.” Bakugou glowered at you, then his blank expression morphed into subtle curiosity. “The brats asleep?”
“Yeah,” You said, rubbing your arms as a breeze blew by and you frowned as you held out your hand and started to follow it all the way to its source and it only furrowed deeper when you deduced that it was coming from a crack in the front door. “Rats.”
“What the…” Bakugou trailed off as he came up behind you and at this point you didn’t even flinch.
For someone who was so tall and had such a fit physique, he sure moved like the wind. You were used to it by now.
You sighed, planting your hands on your hips after testing the lock to make sure it still worked properly. Thank goodness that was still fine. “It happens every winter. I think it has something to do with the wood and the weather when the temperature drops but I already fixed it this past season so I don’t know why…”
Burrowing your face in your hands, you groaned and tried to put it in back of your mind for now.
But Bakugou’s brow knitted at the safety concern and he jangled the knob to play around with it.
By the time you had stopped trying to think of ways to solve this problem temporarily until you had the means for a more permanent solution, Bakugou had fixed it.
Your jaw dropped as you saw he had stuffed some kind of weather strip you had laying in the corner with the rest of the maintenance tools collecting dust and bluntly claimed he’d fix it in the morning for you.
“You don’t have to do that!!” You cried out, feeling bad and not wanting to owe him anything.
Bakugou snorted. “That wasn’t a fucking question, dumbass.”
You opened your mouth to protest but the pitter-patter of tiny feet scaling down the stairs made you both raise your heads.
Your eyes filled with concern as you saw the little boy dragging a blankie behind him with his thumb stuck in his mouth.
“Izuku?” You rushed over and dropped down to the floor, not caring how you scraped your knees in the process. “What’s wrong?”
He sniffled and wiped his nose with the back of his hand.
“... had a nightmare…” He mumbled under his breath, close to tears and your gaze softened sympathetically.
Opening your arms to him, you caught yourself as he ran into you and you walked back to where Bakugou was observing.
Nightmare. You mouthed at him and his eyes grew dark for a second.
You didn’t understand why but you didn’t ask any questions as you focused on consoling the crying boy.
“Hey, Izuku,” You whispered softly when he had calmed down enough to be coherent and tell you a little what it was about. “You know what always makes me feel better?”
He blinked up at you. “Pizza?”
You giggled and tapped his nose gently. “Well yes, but I was thinking more along the lines of ice cream…”
You didn’t miss the way eyes lit up and he automatically turned to an indifferent Bakugou watching the both of you while leaning against the wall with a pleading expression, and immediately, the man was shaking his head violently.
“Hell no.” He refused flatly. Upon the fresh tears that welled up in Izuku’s eyes, he turned to you, as though he needed to prove to you that he had a good reason for saying no. “It’s late out.”
“There’s a 24/7 store that carries ice cream right down the street.” You supplied helpfully, smiling innocently when he glared at you.
Bakugou sighed heavily and ran his fingers through his hair, gripping it in frustration. “It’s dark, Y/N. It’s dangerous.”
“I can go.” You suggested, trying to pry off an Izuku who was clinging to you.
“The hell? Fuck no.” Bakugou hissed and you sighed, giving up on trying to make the green bundle that was pretending to be a leech unstick from you.
“I’ll be right back.” You negotiated. “It’s not even that far—”
“You’re not going.”
You balked at the unrelenting tone he took with you but shut your mouth when you saw the look in his eyes. The look that told you he had seen things that he probably would never tell you.
You saw it in the way his hands shook ever so slightly when he held either Eijirou or Izuku, like he was afraid they would disappear on him the second he let go. You knew that kind of fear and you didn’t argue against him.
But before you could smile sadly at Izuku for letting him down, Bakugou was stomping upstairs and waking up the other slumbering toddler.
There was a muffled shout and then a grunt from above.
“Wake up, Shitty Hair.”
“Eh?! Where are we going?!”
You winced as a crash sounded from the upper level. You didn’t want to know what he broke this time.
But you followed Bakugou’s thinking. Even if the door was sturdy for now, it wasn’t a good idea to leave a child alone for whatever reason, even if you weren’t going to be gone long. If Eijirou woke up all alone, there was a good possibility he would venture outside by himself and that wouldn’t be good.
Besides, Eijirou would be sad if he missed out on this adventure.
It had taken five minutes for Bakugou to wrangle Eijirou, who was way too energetic this late at night, and an additional ten just before the four of you left the store.
Bakugou locked it behind you as you carried Izuku out.
Initially, he had insisted that he could carry him to give you a break but you told him you didn’t mind.
And you really didn’t. The little boy was snoozing softly against your shoulder and you were happy that you could provide some small amount of comfort to him after such a scary bad dream.
The trip was pretty uneventful. Nothing happened, you guys got there safely, Bakugou paid for more ice cream than you guys could consume in one night, saying something about how it was so he didn’t have to do this whole thing again and you walked back.
There were some stragglers out and you got a couple of glances that normally would’ve made your skin crawl but for some reason, this time you felt reassured as Bakugou drifted to your side and kept you close as he made sure Eijirou didn’t let go of his hand.
Eijirou was good, for the most part.
He was unusually serious and didn’t goof off inside the grocery store like he did in your bookshop and you were grateful for that. You didn’t know if you had the energy to chase him down like Bakugou had done earlier if he decided he wanted to play hide-and-seek.
At one point, Bakugou’s free hand that wasn’t busy holding onto the tubs of ice cream or Eijirou, to make sure he didn’t wander off, crept around your shoulders and pulled you close when someone who was drunk out of their minds strayed too close to you.
“Back the fuck off.” He growled protectively as he tucked you and Izuku into his side, glaring at them until they got the message and went on their way.
You were thankful that there wasn’t enough light for him to see the blush present on your cheeks and as you stepped back inside the safety of your bookstore, the boys going after the comfort ice cream like puppies with ice, you didn’t know quite how to feel when his scorching touch left you.
And you wondered why your heart was beating so fast.
By the time the next weekend had rolled around, it was their twentieth time coming together and you were starting to get a bit alarmed at how familiar their appearance was. You actually had to stop in your tracks when you realized you not only were looking forward to seeing Izuku and Eijirou but also Bakugou.
Crap.
That punk had wormed his way into your heart even more but you’d be damned if you let him stay there.
Convincing yourself you’d get over this petty little crush before it became a problem, you picked out some gifts for the two boys the next time you would see them.
By the time you had walked down the street to your shop from the toy store, you actually realized that they beat you to it. You had to calm the two toddlers down as they ran up to greet you, Eijirou vastly quicker on his feet than Izuku, even though the little boy tried his hardest.
They squealed as you gave them presents, showing them off to Bakugou and sped off into their corner to go play. Just like clockwork.
“So…” You started, cringing at how awkward you sounded now that you were alone with Bakugou. “Where’s their dad today?”
Bakugou coughed, then cleared his throat. “You mean that scruffy old man?”
You cracked a smile. “That’s the one.”
He was always with them. He was the first one to bring the boys in on a slow day, which quickly livened up due to the endless amount of energy contained inside a little Eijirou and a tiny Izuku.
Midgets. You loved them so much.
Their cheeks were so squishy, too. Adorable.
It had been months since you had last seen Aizawa and you were a little bit worried about him. But you figured if anyone would know if he was okay would be the man entrusted to watch his sons.
Bakugou sighed, crossing his arms over his chest so that his muscles bulged out from that sleeveless tank he was wearing. The patches of ink rippled in the light and moved almost like it was real. “Aizawa-sensei’s not their dad but he acts like it too fucking much to pretend that it’s not true anymore.”
You giggled at his harsh words edged with a bit of something else you couldn’t quite put your finger on. Something that sounded like begrudging fondness.
Bakugou jerked his chin to where Izuku was chasing after Eijirou, begging him to help him get a book down from the shelf. Usually, you’d go help them but the adorable little toddler puffed out his chest and started clambering up the step ladder to get it.
Bakugou had bought that one himself to replace the rickety one you had accidentally broken and fallen off of so you knew it was sturdy. They would only fall off of it if they weren’t careful but you were within sight of them so you weren’t too worried.
“He’s enlisted in the military so he can’t always watch them even after they blacklisted him. His old unit just recently got reinstated.” Bakugou said with a scowl, not bothering to elaborate on that, but his eyes softened the tiniest bit as Izuku huffed and puffed to catch up with Eijirou, his little legs working overtime to compensate for his lack of height. “So he gave the brats to me to make sure they didn’t kill themselves or something.”
You grinned, clasping your hands behind your back and stuck your face close to his, skirt swirling around your ankles as you sent him a cheeky smile.
“You volunteered, didn’t you?”
“Shut the hell up, no I didn’t!!” He shouted but you bit back the smile threatening to overtake your entire face.
“You’re too easy to read~” You teased.
Bakugou grabbed for you but you dodged easily. Gritting his teeth in determination, he ran after you and you yelped at how quickly he was gaining on you.
Damn, it was a bad day to wear these shoes.
You ducked around the corner only for him to catch up to you in a split second. You squeaked as he slammed you into the bookshelf, caging you in between his arms as he smirked down at you.
“I won.” He declared triumphantly.
You rolled your eyes and stuck out your tongue. “Such a child.”
Bakugou scowled. You were one to talk, taunting him like you two were friends or something. “Oi, fucking take that back.”
Your eyes glinted mischievously. “Or you’ll do what? Try to punch me again? Maybe this time you’ll actually land one and not miss like a lose—”
You gasped as his chest bumped into yours, his red eyes glimmering dangerously. His breath was hot against your face and your heart stopped.
“I don’t fucking lose.” He growled.
You gulped. Perhaps you had crossed a line. Your gaze darted away from him for a second, not even bothering to push him away because you knew you couldn’t.
“Thank you.”
Bakugou raised an eyebrow in surprise but masked it quickly. “For what?”
“For the other day.” You clarified. “I think I would’ve been screwed if you hadn’t come with, so thank you.”
He snorted and looked away. “Don’t mention it, dumbass.”
You were going to leave it at that but at that moment, a soft giggle floated through the air along with some very loud and obvious shushing.
Bakugou immediately tore after the little brats without a second thought as both Eijirou and Izuku poked their heads around the corner to spy on you and you threw your head back and laughed.
They were so goofy but maybe that crush they had told you about that you had so easily dismissed at first wasn’t so ridiculous after all.
While you were busy helping other customers throughout the day, Bakugou occasionally came to check in on you and make sure you were taking your breaks and eating, all while reassuring you that the shitty brats were fucking fine and you didn’t need to be worried about shit.
He could handle it.
You smiled and waved a hand at him when he left, giggling when he flipped you the bird before turning to the next person who wanted to check out.
The sun set and night fell, all along with the comfortable routine you had grown accustomed to having with all three of the boys.
But you bolted upright as Eijirou nonchalantly revealed something you didn’t expect the instant you finished setting up the tent for movie night.
“IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY?!?!” You screeched in Bakugou’s ear.
Bakugou clapped a hand over your mouth, sending you a death glare, undoubtedly for your insanely loud volume, but you wrangled him off of you.
“Bu— You— Why didn’t you say something?!”
He looked at you as though you were crazy. You two barely knew each other and if he knew it was going to spur on this reaction, he definitely would’ve stopped Shitty Hair from saying that shit.
Too late now.
Bakugou slumped back against the makeshift fort you had set up for the boys in the loft. Said troublesome toddlers were currently going to town on your DVD collection so that they could choose a movie for tonight.
You only had cartoons from your childhood so it was a perfect selection for them. They were currently hunting through the bookshelf in your room that was connected to upper floor, just down the hall.
“What the hell is there to tell?” He grunted in your direction, a deep seated scowl on his features from the starry blankets and pillows that surrounded him.
You frowned. Growing up, birthdays had always been days that you looked forward to. The parties, the presents, family and friends to celebrate it with, you always loved it. Maybe there was a reason he didn’t want to celebrate it.
Glancing at him out of the corner of your eye, you idly rocked back and forth as you thought about how best to approach the reproachful man.
Bakugou sighed and glared at your crossly. You weren’t going to let this go until he gave you an answer.
“There ain’t no deep reason for it, none of that bullshit.” He ground out eventually and you perked your head up, listening attentively. “I don’t see what’s so special about the day I was born, it’s the same as every other fucking day.”
He was caught off guard as you rapidly shook your head, crying out at his words.
“It’s not!!” You implored earnestly, the roots to your ideals running deep as you leaned forward. “The day you were born is so special!! It celebrates your life, Katsuki!!”
Bakugou swallowed hard. Your proximity was making it very hard to breathe. That light in your eyes, the one that was able to find happiness in even the smallest of things, he didn’t understand it.
It was the same kind of light that Deku had. How fucking annoying.
“Damn idiot.” He muttered as he turned your face away from you so that he wouldn’t be tempted to kiss your lips. They looked so soft…
Fuck, he was screwed over. Quick, he had to think of something else.
Luckily, the distraction came in the form of two very energetic boys barreling into the tent. You collapsed in a fit of giggles as Eijirou returned from his adventure and tunneled into you, Izuku tripping on the way in only to be caught by the back of his collar by a reluctant Bakugou.
Eijirou quickly fumbled with the DVD, holding the cartoons he and Izuku had selected together up proudly for you to see.
You cooed, pinching his cheeks and praised them for making such a good choice. This one was one of your favorites when you were younger and you hadn’t seen it in a while so this was as much a treat for them as it was for you.
The little tent was a bit more cramped than you had anticipated, especially with the two hyperactive boys added into the mix, but it was doable for now. Your leg was pressed up against Bakugou’s warm thigh but you tried not to think about it as you popped the DVD into the small TV you had set up on a table outside of the cozy fort.
Eijirou snuggled up in your lap while Izuku hesitated to climb onto a very comfy looking hothead, who was actually quite tame at the moment.
Unfolding his arms, Bakugou's lip curled back in a scowl. "Tch, hurry up, nerd."
You couldn't even bring yourself to say anything about his language because while Eijirou seemed largely unaffected by it, Izuku’s forest green eyes actually sparked as he recognized the indirect permission granted.
It was actually quite adorable how the boys could read the disgruntled older man like a book.
Bakugou attempted to hide it from you but he couldn't stop you from seeing how gently he rested his large hand on top of Izuku’s little green curls. The tent didn't provide that much privacy.
Not wanting him to stop showing the rare display of affection towards the affection-starved child, you averted your eyes so that he could carry on. You knew he would retract his hand so fast if he thought you were looking at them.
You didn't want to ruin the moment.
Snuggling back into the plushy pillow, you held onto Eijirou as he curled onto your stomach, straining to see the small screen that lit up with moving pictures.
“Izuku, it’s starting!!” He exclaimed excitedly.
There was a crash and then a loud swear and as you looked over to make sure that Izuku and Bakugou were both alright, you had to clap a hand over your mouth to keep yourself from laughing at the scene that you were presented with.
At Eijirou’s well intended announcement, Izuku had hurried upright, knocking back into Bakugou at the same time as he scrambled forward to be able to see.
But in doing so, he had tripped over the cord connecting the TV to the outlet that was behind you and fell forward. Right as the box came crashing down, aimed directly for his head.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Bakugou had caught Izuku by the collar of his shirt and hauled him back, out of harm’s way before anything could happen to him.
Any other time, you would’ve voiced how impressed you were but now you were just worried about the little boy, who was openly crying, apologizing over and over again for breaking it.
“It’s alright, Izuku.” You reassured gently, patting his head comfortingly. His emerald eyes shimmered with unshed tears as he blinked up at your, his freckled cheeks flushed an embarrassed shade of pink and your eyes softened. “You’re safe, so no harm done!! Don’t worry, okay?”
He sniffled and shakily nodded.
Bakugou had yet to say anything but his fingers were still curled protectively around Izuku’s stomach, ensuring that he didn’t move around carelessly. Next time, he might not be as lucky. Not that he was going to admit that he was scared or anything.
How fucking ridiculous.
While you switched out Eijirou with Izuku to calm him down, Bakugou took charge in cleaning up the shattered shards of cheap plastic that had broken upon impact.
Your TV wasn’t completely destroyed but the plastic screen had cracked at the corner. For something so old, it sure was robust, he’d give it credit for that.
Eijirou tugged on his hand, losing his balance and Bakugou’s arm shot out to prevent him from face-planting in the shards that he had just swept up.
“Watch what you’re doing, Shitty Hair.” He growled, concern masked under his sharp reprimanding and he glared at the now sheepish toddler.
“C’mere, Eiji.” You coaxed, waving your hand to have him come closer to you so that he was out of the way until Bakugou got rid of the small, clear pieces hiding on the floor. “I don’t want you to get hurt, so let’s stay out of his way, yeah?”
Eijirou nodded vigorously, finding the logic in your words with relative ease and agreeing with them instinctively.
Sighing to yourself, you unplugged the TV so that an electrical surge wouldn’t cause a fire. That was the last thing you needed.
You were sad that the boys were disappointed with the short-lived movie night. But Bakugou insists that he can fix it just like he fixed your front door so the three of you waited for him to work his magic while you curled up with a good book to read to them.
You had already asked if he wanted help but he glowered at you for suggesting such an insane thing and you backed off with a shit-eating grin.
After almost an hour of reading books and playing games to pass the time, he got it up and running again, laying the cable on top of the fort you built so that it was out of the way, making it impossible for anyone else to trip on it again.
This time, everything ran smoothly and all of you gorged yourselves on popcorn and soda as the cheesy cartoons played out on the screen, thoroughly entertaining the two little boys while you and Bakugou stole glances at each other the entire time.
By the time it finished, Izuku was already fast asleep and Eijirou was struggling to keep his eyes open.
You put them both to bed, Bakugou’s soft half-smile going over your head as you tucked them into the spare futon you had set up for them specifically, almost three months ago, when this all started.
“You’re too fucking soft.” Bakugou decided as you two went downstairs to let the boys sleep.
It was familiar, it was routine. After every night when they fell asleep, you two would stay up talking for hours about anything and everything.
He eventually opened up to you about the life he had been involved in before he met Aizawa, who saved his life. After that, he reformed, he got clean, the whole nine yards.
And you were proud of him.
You told him about your life, though it probably was nothing at all that interesting compared to his problems that he dealt with. But surprisingly, you found him nodding along understandingly as you voiced your hardships with being anti-social and having a bunch of insecurities and anxieties that often made talking to people a nerve-wracking experience and you were astonished to find the weight that uplifted as soon as he put in his two cents and said that he really did understand.
You skipped ahead of him, spinning around to tell him how much you’ve grown to look forward to your conversations when the guarded look on his face made the confession die on your lips.
“You okay?” You asked concernedly, approaching him cautiously to give him enough time to push you away if he wanted to be left alone.
He grunted in your direction. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
But he didn’t sound fine. His voice was strained and a bead of sweat ran down his forehead.
Biting your lip, you tilted your head contemplatively. Ice cream and books generally made you feel better when you had a bad day but you realized you had no idea what comforted him.
Gingerly, you took his hand and frowned when you saw the faded scars. He had been hurt.
“What do you need?” You asked softly and he sighed in defeat.
“What’s your favorite book?” He grumbled out and your mouth parted in surprise at the odd request.
Wordlessly, you led him over to the counter to grab the same book you had been reading that day he had first barged in and so rudely knocked you off your stool.
You held it up to him and still holding your hand, he led you in the back where you normally sat with the boys to read to them.
“Katsuki?” You questioned.
He gritted his teeth, mumbling something under his breath.
“Um…” You trailed off nervously. “C-Can you say it again? I didn’t really hear you…”
Bakugou whirled around and you squeaked at how close his face was to yours.
“Read it to me.” He demanded without pause and you would’ve laughed, thinking he was playing a prank on you if it had not been for his steely gaze.
“Okay…” You drew out slowly, wondering where this was suddenly coming about as you sat down on the tan leather sofa and patted the spot beside you, turning on the table lamp beside you so that you could see him. “Do you want me to start from the beginning? I’m not sure if you’ll even like this book, I have no idea what you like to read—”
Bakugou shook his head to cut off your anxious rambling, recognizing that it was stemming from your nervousness at him possibly judging you for what you liked to read and he leaned back, resting his arms behind his head.
“Doesn’t fucking matter.” He mumbled. “Just start.”
Even though you had numerous questions running through your head, you obliged and began reading, the words flowing off your lips with practiced ease.
Bakugou never told you but he was jealous of how you always read to the brats. Granted, he was a full-grown adult who shouldn’t pout in the corner when they got more attention than he did but it was so fucking stupid how soothing your voice was and how much of an effect it had on him.
He could listen to you for hours and never get bored. Why do you think he always stuck around when you hopped up on the same tan leather sofa to read to those shitty kids?
It wasn’t just because he liked to look at your face, but it was because of the smile you had whenever you would read to them, that soft tilt of your head when the books evoked emotions from the children you were reading to and the giggle that bubbled past your lips when they laughed at something that the character did.
It never failed to do things to his heart.
Bakugou’s eyes eventually drifted closed after an hour of reading to him and you tensed when he careened into you by accident.
“Sorry.” He said shortly as he righted himself and you shyly reassured him that it was okay.
He didn’t say anything but you knew.
Ever since he got out of his old life, he had found a steady job but it was in construction and the risk was incredibly high. The hours were long and often the conditions were unforgiving. He had seen things happen on the daily and you were cautious to ever bring it up to him when he pressed closer to you than usual or who stayed longer by the front desk while you worked during operating hours.
You were about to stand up and leave so that he could sleep since he was obviously exhausted but his hand shot out and grabbed your wrist.
“Don’t go.”
It was quiet and it wavered but you didn’t hesitate.
Wrapping your arms around his shoulders, you eased him down and swallowed hard when his own encircled your waist, bringing you close to him.
“I’m not going anywhere.” You promised.
Head laying on his chest, your heartbeat eventually synced with the rise and fall of it and you drifted off, unaware that Bakugou sealed your promise with a soft kiss to the top of your head.
The fragments of his heart gently pieced itself back together as he held onto you as though you were his lifeline and he couldn’t help but whisper brokenly.
“Thank you.”
Bonus:
“Papa!!!”
“You’re back!!”
Aizawa held a finger up to his lips as his boys reached for him at the same time, chuckling softly as he caught them both as they launched into him. He didn’t change out of his military gear yet, he wanted to see them first.
“Shh… “ He hushed quietly, ruffling both of their heads at the same time. Damn, he missed them. “Y/N’s sleeping downstairs.”
Instantly, both the boys shut their mouths and shot out at the speed of light.
Aizawa followed them downstairs just in time to see the two of them screaming silently as they danced around in rings around their favorite couch that you and Bakugou were cozied up on.
Your face was tucked under Bakugou’s chin and you were sound asleep. Meanwhile, the man beside you had his arm draped over your waist, the other one supporting your head as a makeshift pillow. The blankets on top of you were rumpled, as though they had been kicked aside in favor of you both seeking out each other’s warmth.
It was cute. Aizawa admitted it was one of the most heartwarming things he’d ever seen.
“Don’t wake them up.” Aizawa instructed as Izuku reached out to touch Bakugou’s spiky hair since he wasn’t awake to tell him off. “Not yet.”
Eijirou was curious but a wide grin broke out on his face when his dad pulled out his phone and snapped a few pictures.
“Oooo, Papa, can I?! Please?!?!”
Gesturing for him to lower his voice, Aizawa nodded and handed it off, watching Izuku and Eijriou briefly squabble about who got to use it first when they sorted it out amongst themselves and Izuku took the first turn.
You awoke to the sound of a shutter clicking right by your ear and blinking slowly, your eyes shot open and you jerked as you realized where you were.
And who you were with.
“Katsuki, get up!!” You hissed as the boys laughed loudly. Hell, even Aizawa cracked a smile and you threw him an apologetic look, though you didn’t know what it was for. “Katsuki!!”
He groaned and turned his face the other way.
This time, Aizawa couldn’t help but tease him a little. “Katsuki, huh?”
Bakugou turned back around and glared at the offending person smirking at him. “Shut the hell up.”
Aizawa clicked his tongue. “Respect your elders.”
“Oh f—”
“OKAY!!!” You shouted, clapping your hands together before he could cuss him out. “Who wants breakfast?”
“Oh, oh, oh, me!!!” Izuku cried, jumping up and down excitedly.
“Yay, food!!!” Eijirou cheered.
Bakugou blearily rubbed his eyes and yawned. Thank goodness he didn’t have to go in today. “Oi, didn’t you just eat?”
“Yeah, but that was last night!!” The little boy protested. “My stomach is hungryyyyy.”
“Fucking Shitty Hair.”
A warning tone came from Aizawa. “Bakugou.”
“... Sorry.”
“Coffee?” You offered to Aizawa as you all traveled back upstairs, the little ones racing ahead of you.
He sighed gratefully, blinking his eyes tiredly. “That sounds perfect.”
He was exhausted and the trip back was even more brutal than the one that took him to his destination. But he didn’t want to get into all of that now.
Eijirou and Izuku shot to their designated seats at the kitchen island and you put on an apron before pulling open the fridge to see what you could make.
“I meant what I said.” Bakugou confessed quietly while you cracked the eggs and prepared the bacon.
You didn’t look at him, not wanting to give it away to the other three who were watching you both like some kind of TV show.
“I know.” You murmured, a soft smile playing on the corners of your lips. “I did, too.”
Your heart fluttered as he boldly pressed a kiss to your temple and you blushed violently when the boys whooped and hollered at the two of you, Eijirou making faces of disgust and pretending to gag when Bakugou made it look like he was going to kiss you on the lips in front of them.
Aizawa chuckled as he handled the coffee machine, able to easily figure it out as he brewed enough for the both of you. “Look at that? You have learned how to play well with others, Bakugou.”
And this time, Bakugou didn’t even spare him a glance as he gazed at you until you looked his way.
“What?” You asked nervously, wondering if you had something on your face.
Bakugou hid a smirk.
“How ‘bout blueberry muffins to go along with that coffee, sweetheart?”

ran past margit to break into stormveil castle
did actually defeat godrick w/ help of nepheli but also killed gostoc for disrespecting the dead (godrick)
other than nepheli and rennala, accidentally ends up having constant bad relations with women whether it be one sided or mutual
raya lucaria becomes comfort safe space where she can just talk about day to day adventures for hours to rennala
after completing the steps for varre's quest and getting that finger thing injected/broken (whatever he does), absolutely just passed out on the ground (not from pain just clocked out for the day) (varre had to stand there and wait till the mf woke up)
joins the mohgwyn dynasty and becomes a knight for ⛓️𝖑𝖚𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖆𝖗𝖞 𝖒𝖔𝖍𝖌🥀
goes to the radahn festival to "check it out", leaves upon entry just like patches

no threat of stealing the throne/harming the tree & hours of convincing later = morgott friend W
visits him often to provide company bc you just know that mf hasn't had a proper conversation with a living being in decades
leaves melina in leyndell as requested but has no means of burning the erdtree so she (melina) just kinda roams free there
at some point makes it to seluvis' rise yes I need to include him in this (oh shit I also forgot about sir gideon I’ll add that after 😦)
makes the dung eater drink the potion because FUCK that guy I need him DEAD
seluvis has no idea, still kinda snarky but thinks his "scheme" worked so impression points raise
seluvis kindaaa??? friend, more of a guy you visit once a week to check up on but need months of interactions to actually break ice with
SIR GIDEON OFNIR THE ALLLLL KNOWING hates her at first
realized he can get knowledge on the lord of blood so opens up the doors to his little library nerd room
after prying for more information for weeks on end, starts becoming more familiar
repeat of kenneth haight where she tries to romance him and he doesn't care (eventually budges a bit)
