[TASK 117: THE WABANAKI CONFEDERACY]
In celebration of November being Native American Heritage Month, here’s a masterlist below compiled of over 60+ Abenaki, Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, Passamaquoddy, or Penobscot faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. The Wabanaki Confederacy was a powerful confederacy of indigenous peoples in the US and Canada founded in 1606 of the the culturally and linguistically related Abenaki, Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot tribes. The Wabanaki Confederacy broke apart in 1862, but have since reestablished their confederacy as of 1993. If you want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever faceclaim or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags, @ mention us or send us a messaging linking us to your post!
THE TASK - scroll down for FC’s!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNG’s, fancasts, alternative FC’s - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaims. A masterlist of names. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by an artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags. Guides on culture and customs.
Screencaps
RP icons [of all sizes]
Gif Pack [maybe gif icons if you wish]
PNG packs

In 2004, UPN debuted “Veronica Mars” to what quickly became an adoring audience. Three years later, after a chaotic run that involved a network change, the constant threat of cancellation and a thwarted attempt at a Season 4 set at FBI headquarters, the series came to a close.
This week marks the 11 year anniversary of that last episode, and while it wasn’t the last we saw of Veronica (Kristen Bell) and her friends thanks to the 2014 feature film, the show’s cancellation stung. For fans who might want to revisit the first season’s highs and lows, we’ve come up with a list of the ten best episodes that demonstrate why “Veronica Mars” remains gone but not forgotten. If you’re looking for a quick introduction to the show, this list might also work (which is why we’ve arranged it chronologically).  But if you’ve never seen it, watch it from the beginning. Season 1 is just. too. good.
“Pilot” (Episode 1)
Written by: Rob Thomas Directed by: Mark Piznarski
In less than an hour, creator Rob Thomas sets up the universe of Neptune, California — a rich elite used to getting what they want, the lower-class folks just trying to get by, and plucky teen detective Veronica Mars, forging her way through this polarized world while also investigating the case of her life. So many shows have begun with this question: “Who killed [name of girl here]?” But the fact that the person trying to solve the mystery wasn’t some unrelated detective, but the girl’s best friend elevated the series to a new plane. All of this and more was set up by the pilot, immediately diving us into a show rich with scandal and secrets, one with its own voice.
“The Wrath of Con” (Episode 4)
Written by: Diane Ruggiero Directed by: Michael Fields
Tumblr media
This early episode doesn’t feature any major plot reveals — but it is hugely informative when it comes to the girl who was Lily Kane, and the impact she had on her friends. In paying tribute to Lily (who was brilliantly played by a then-unknown Amanda Seyfried), “Veronica Mars” went beyond the “tragically dead girl” trope to make sure Lily was remembered as vibrant, complicated and real — a message made explicit by Logan’s (Jason Dohring) tribute video seen at the end of the episode, as well as Veronica making good on a long-ago promise.
“Like a Virgin” (Episode 8)
Written by: Aury Wallington Directed by: Guy Bee
We meet the awesome Mac (Tina Majorino), the show takes on slut-shaming in an era prior to the term slut-shaming, and Veronica gets confronted with a major reveal. “Like A Virgin” is one of the show’s great examples of how to blend one-off narratives with a season-long arc; the final sequence features a jaw-dropping gut-punch pulled right out of soap operas, except the show makes sure it feels well-earned. Bell’s performance, as she copes with the potential reveal, is the primary reason for that.
“An Echolls Family Christmas” (Episode 10)
Written by: Diane Ruggiero Directed by: Nick Marck
Tumblr media
A fateful poker game becomes a layered mystery with multiple points of view — a classic mild “Veronica solves the case” investigation with plenty of fun “Columbo” flare. What makes this a standout episode of the series, though, is the other storyline: A stalker is threatening Logan’s father Aaron, and the final minutes unravel the Echolls family in a brutal fashion. It’s one of television’s most deeply cynical Christmas episodes, but captivating on that level.
“Silence of the Lamb” (Episode 11)
Written by: Jed Seidel & Dayna Lynne North Directed by: John Kretchmer
Hey, special guest star Aaron Paul! It’s a few years before “Breaking Bad,” so he’s not listed as special, but he’s special in our hearts. Also, the case of the week is a rare dive into a hardcore murder investigation but comes with a big surprise for Mac and notable movement forward for Veronica as she takes on the Kane family’s attempts to silence her.
“Clash of the Tritons” (Episode 12)
Written by: Phil Klemmer & Aury Wallington Directed by: David Barrett
There’s a fair amount of silliness in this episode (including a sequence entirely devoted to creating an opportunity for Kristen Bell to show off her singing talents), but it’s enjoyable silliness. It also unveils a fair number of student secrets and, in the final moments, sets off a plotline that has a major impact on the rest of the season.
“Mars vs. Mars” (Episode 14)
Written by: Rob Thomas (story), Jed Seidel & Diane Ruggiero (teleplay) Directed by: Marcos Siega
This is a standalone installment from the first season, but it kicks off with a fascinating dilemma: A charismatic teacher is accused of sexual misconduct by a student and Veronica sides with the teacher. It probably helps that Mr. Riggs is played by longtime Thomas collaborator Adam Scott (who would go on to star in the seminal Starz comedy “Party Down,” created by Thomas, John Enbom, Dan Etheridge, and Paul Rudd), but the great guest star appearances don’t stop there, as future “Gossip Girl” queen bee Leighton Meester plays the girl who stands by her story despite the evidence Veronica uncovers.
“Weapons of Class Destruction” (Episode 18)
Written by: Jed Seidel Directed by: John Kretchmer
Tumblr media
Would this episode make this list if it didn’t feature the season’s most anticipated kiss? Absolutely yes, even though it might be one of the most notable kisses of 21st century television, because the episode is also an interesting look at the issue of school violence and bullying, from a time when there wasn’t a prescribed approach on how to approach it, and even a former bully might have a tender side. Jonathan Taylor Thomas as a guest star isn’t necessarily a selling point, but he does add interesting spice to the mix (especially given that the show features no shortage of actors well above the age of 18 playing younger). More importantly, Joey Lauren Adams, as a substitute journalism instructor with the best of intentions, is legitimately a heartbreaker.
“A Trip to the Dentist” (Episode 21)
Written by: Diane Ruggiero Directed by: Marcos Siega
There were two major mysteries running through the first season of “Veronica Mars”: What happened to Lily Kane, and what happened to Veronica the night she was roofied and maybe raped? One of the show’s most brilliant moves was to solve the latter so that the former could be the entire focus of the season finale, and the way in which Veronica untangles the mystery surrounding Shelly Pomroy’s party makes for maybe one of the show’s most captivating installments.
“Leave it to Beaver” (Episode 22)
Written by: Rob Thomas (story), Rob Thomas & Diane Ruggiero (teleplay) Directed by: Michael Fields
“Leave It to Beaver” hinges on a few key reveals — it’s a deliciously twisty episode — followed by a terrifying conclusion that’s rich with action. Most importantly, it manages an impossible task: Create real closure for the season arc, but also establish interest in the narrative to come. And believe us, Season 2 is equally soaked in riches.

2017 TBR Shame Book Tag
I saw a post for this on the ThriceRead blog and suddenly had the urge to shame myself. Which works well because I also intend to participate in the 2017 Mount TBR Challenge and this would make a handy list for that as well.
The gist of it is, these are the books currently on my shelves that I still haven't gotten around to reading! (I won't be counting the few books I started and gave up on for whatever reason.)
Home: A Memoir of My Early Years by Julie Andrews
Wolfcry (The Kiesha'ra, book 4) by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Wyvernhail (The Kiesha'ra, book 5) by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
The Juvenilia of Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte by Jane Austen & Charlotte Bronte
Lady Susan, The Watsons, Sanditon by Jane Austen
Anything Goes by John Barrowman
Papa's Wife (The Franzons, book 1) by Thyra Ferre Bjorn
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague by Geraldine Brooks
Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown
Evelina by Frances Burney
Thank Heaven: A Memoir by Leslie Caron
The Girl of Fire and Thorns Stories (Girl of Fire and Thorns Novella) by Rae Carson
Graceling (Graceling Realm, book 1) by Kristin Cashore
The Adventures of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes

HORADADA BOWLS CLUB BY IRENE GRAHAM Only one match to report on this week as we are now at the end of the winter season.  Win or lose the weather has been really kind to the Bowlers this winter with very few bad days.  The Falcons were at home to Emerald Isle Moonrakers and we were all very well aware that we had to produce the goods.  All but one of the rinks had really close results with the lead going back and forth a few times.  An exciting morning with the Falcons coming out on top.  We won on 3 rinks lost on 2 and it’s thanks to one of our rinks that secured us the overall shots.  Our winning rinks were: Irene Graham, Janet Jukes and Barry Evans 13 – 9 Wayne Jackson, Les Davies and Mick Kirby 23 – 8 Tracey Paffett, Ken Barber and Roy Thomson 17 – 14 The final score being 83 shot for to 66 against giving us 8 points to 4 against. Very well played to all of our team, we each played our part in helping the Falcons to move up a place to remain in division ‘B’.  We are equal in points to Quesada Rubies, but we just managed to pip them at the post on shots. The Royals with their last match result also moved 2 places up the table to finish in 7th place, only 1 point behind 6th.  We are a small membership club and to remain in the ‘B’ division for both the leagues is an excellent result for us. Again very well played to everyone who has played throughout the winter season and a special thanks goes to our Team Captain Peter Davis and Vice Captain Ron Odell for their efforts in putting a team together.  We know it is not an easy task. Have a restful 2 weeks break Team Horadada and we will start all over again for the summer leagues.  Keep em’ bowls a rollin’. EMERALD ISLE BOWLS WITH ELWYN MORRIS Sunday brought our Irish friends from The Gate/Crumlin to the Isle and the game was played in a fantastic spirit and this year the Isle came out winners 5-1, so they take the Trophy. Titans played at home against San Miguel Beagles and they had a good 8-4 win, aggregate 93-83, Winners were S Johnson K Jolliffe D Gerrard 27-14,,D Jones D Leeming M Odell 24-13, S Kavanagh G Shoots B Kavanagh 18-11 Neptunes were at home against San Miguel Dalmations in second place battle and the Isle came out on top 8-4 aggregate 99-89, winners E Morris C Parsons A Malcolm,,26-14,,B Doran C Thomas  J Westall  28-11, C Ayling C Warner P Heaney 20-17 Moonrakers played Horadada and slipped to a 4-8 aggregate 66-83, winners D Close T Harris G Ponsford 18-15, I Hughes M Breen P Dix 17-15 Saturns travelled to San Luis Vulcans and they were beaten 4-8, aggregate 92-96, winners were E Brookes J Gregory J Mulloy 24-11, ,M Brookes A Gower J Horne 21-15 Tuesday saw return of Gosforth Empire for their annual visit. In a good game the result was a 2-2 draw on rinks Emerald Isle played at Greenlands in the Winter league and had a great win 7-5, aggregate 90-73 win, winners were R Clive J Mulloy M Breen D Gerrard 33-9, S Kavanagh T Dix P Dix B, Kavanagh 20-13, M Riley D Close M Odell C Lindgren drew 11-11 No Berleen Game SAPS continues throughout the summer, great value at 5 Euros 2 hours  bowling, Shoes and  Bowls supplied and coaching for novices.

COSTA BLANCA BOWLS ROUNDUP 6 MARCH 17
LA MARINA REPORT BY BARRY LATHAM
The Pathfinders found their way with great win of 10-4 at home against Monte Mar in the Discovery Division. John Rae, Bernie Carr and Mick Fitzgerald 19-13. John Mallet, John Morgan and Gina Hindle 20-8. Colin & Lynne Armitage and Peter Bailey 18-8. David Taylor, Dave McGaw and Lorita Rae 18-13.
The Explorers travelled to play Quesada Pearls but met a strong team and lost 10-4 although they only narrowly lost the overall score by six shots. Our winners came from Peter Parsons, Phil Pape and Carol Smith plus Alex Whyte, Shirley Hadaway and Janet Parsons.
Winter League at home to BBC and although we lost, it wasn’t a disaster as we achieved four points. Colin Armitage, Dave Taylor, Richard Robinson and Lynne Armitage beat that brilliant Jeff Richards. One of our oldest players, Alan Castle led his rink of Phil Pape, Carol Smith and Kathy Manning to an 18-16 win. The Berleen Boys did it again winning by one. So well done Alex Whyte, Jim Freeman, Mike Surch and Dave Bulfield.
Friday here again and little trip down the road for the Dolphins to play La Manga Crusaders and they surprised a few folk by getting four points. Don Harrison, Reg Jackson and Trevor Hancock a 16-11 win and the travellers return, Barry & Margaret Sadler that is plus Garth Slater with a two shot advantage. Well done the Dolphins.
The Seagulls at home to the San Miguel Cougars lost in a very close game by two shots. Our top rink was Dave Taylor, Gina Hindle and Lynne Armitage. The other two winning rinks won by just one shot each so well done Terry Perchard, Berni Carr and Barbara Forshaw plus John Morgan, Clive Pratt and Dave Bulfield.
The Sharks are the tops this week with a 14-0 beating at home of the San Luis Tigers. Should just about get all the triumphant names in. So well done Alex Whyte, Dave Hadaway, and Maureen Kidd. Dave Lewis, Jim Manning and Margaret McLaughlin. Margaret & Rob Finlayson plus Hilary Cronk. Peter Parsons, Tom Spencer and Andy Bartlett. Alan Castle, Phil Pape and Janet Parsons. And our top lot, Shirley Hadaway, John Mallett and Kathy Manning.
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB.
The Pintos started their week with a home fixture against La Siesta Apollos and what a glorious day it was. It was a tight match on play, with most of us I think playing some good woods, but also some that we could hardly believe, a little tricky I think. But we did hold off the opposition to take the rinks 5-1 and the overall shots. Meanwhile the broncos were playing away at Horadada against the Falcons and had a tough match, but played well enough to come away with 2 rinks, always a good away result.
Friday found the Mustangs playing at Quesada against the Swifts and a very pleasant morning it was in good company. As you would expect the Swift took advantage of the home mat, but the Mustangs did manage to come away with 2 rinks and not a great deficit in overall shots. June Whitworth, Jane Hamill and Stew Hamill 20-22. Bob Morgan, Keith Cunningham and David Whitworth 15-18. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 12-21. Irene Thomson, Jim Taylor and Eddie Thomson 18-14. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Geoff Jones 8-22. Henry Ryder, Jan Bright and Richard Lee 21-11.
Meanwhile the Raiders entertained Greenland Cedars and both played well to take 3 rinks each, with the Raiders taking the overall shots by a small margin. Gill Bartlett, Bob Easthope and Rob Clark 19-12. Ann C Taylor, Shirley Edwards and Bob Taylor 21-13. Pam Harris, Malc Elmore and Brian Harris 23-7. Marion Haynes, Diane Yates and Dave Haynes 12-14. Ria Dukker, Peter Blackburn and Keith Longshaw 14-20. Tricia Elsam, Tony Robinson and Graham Day 11-28. The Apollos travelled to the notoriously difficult El Rancho rink to play the Pintos and only managed to win on one rink. Our winning rink was Beryl Styring, Norman Adcroft and Alex Morrice who mastered the conditions to win by 18 shots to 13.The overall shots score being 85-131.However, despite this loss the Apollos still have a good chance of finishing as league runners up.
The Pioneers entertained the Emerald Isle Moonrakers and in a close contest the rinks were shared with Moonrakers picking up the overall score by 109 shots to 96. The winning rinks for La Siesta were Hilary Clarke, Molly Russell and Rab Logan 31-8, Penny Porter, Alan Ralph and John Clarke 20-12 and in a nailbiting finish Ken Stringfellow, Rod Edgerton and Johnnie Ryder won by a single shot 19-18.

COSTA BLANCA BOWLS ROUNDUP - 25 FEB 17
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB
The Pintos, on Monday, played host to the Greenland Sycamores on a horrendous day for bowls, with a strong gusting and cold wind. But the Pintos having the advantage of the home mat, adjusted to the conditions sooner than their worthy opponents and took 5 rinks and the overall shots, well worth getting out of bed for.
Meanwhile the Broncos travelled to the Emerald Isle to play the Moonrakers in very difficult conditions on an away mat, but although they came away without a point, the ones I spoke to this morning had enjoyed the experience and one or two had been close matches.
Friday morning brought the Vistabella Conquistadors to El Rancho to play the Raiders, alas the opposition failed to provide a full team and conceded one rink, but took two, and hence the Raiders took the points by 10-4. Helga Schiffman, Gill Bartlett and Rob Clark drew the conceded rink and I am sure would rather have played. Pam Harris, Malc Elmore and Brian Harris 19-14. Marion Haynes, Diane Yates and Dave Haynes 13-18. Edward Elsam, Tony Robinson and Graham Day 18-10. Ngaio  Baldwin, Bob Easthope and Gary Newson 23-14. Tricia Elsam, Peter Blackburn and Keith Longshaw 16-23.
In the afternoon the Mustangs played host to the Emerald Isle Claymores, struggled a little without complaint, to master the speed of the mat. Though they played well and took 2 rinks, although some of the scores had large points differentials, the game play was close.  Judy Foley, Keith Cunningham and Geoff Jones 15-10. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Jane Hamill 15-22. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 34-8. Irene Thomson, Jim Taylor and Eddie Thomson 33-7. Maxine Wright, John Skipper and Rod Wright 14-21. Henry Ryder, Jan Bright and Richard Lee 26-6. For membership details contact Brian Taylor on 965077093 or  at [email protected] or Carolyn Harris on 966774316 or at [email protected]

LA MARINA REPORT BY BARRY LATHAM
This week has started off a bit like last week. Oops. The Explorers wended their way to the place on the hill only to lose 11-3 at Vistabella Albatrosses. I’m sure there is a saying about Albatross. Margaret & Rob Finlayson plus Maureen Kidd managed a draw, Jim & Kathy Manning and Reg Jackson drew while our winning rink comprised of Dave Hadaway, Arthur Cronk and the inevitable Anne Stone.
Next came the Pathfinders who went to play at San Miguel Comets and lost 10-4. Two winners were John Rae, Mick Fitzgerald and Lynne Armitage 18-10 and David Taylor, Dave McGaw and Lorita Rae 22-16.  Hooray for the Raes.
Okay so they don’t need us, extra holiday then. Well done to the Winter League at home versus San Miguel with a10-2 win. John Mallet, Peter Parsons, Roger Stacey and Maureen Kidd won19-15; the Armitages  and the Taylors combined together to get 25-12 win; Dave Hadaway with his happy girls, Kathy Manning, Barbara Forshaw and Janet Parsons won18-15 and Alan Castle, Phil Pape, the Butlers won 22-9. No mention of Anne. San Miguel won the Berleen.
What a good Friday. All three teams winning. The Sharks played away against Vistabella Lanzadores and a close game it was, one rink drew, two others lost by one and one won by a lot. The big winner was Alan Castle, Phil Pape and Janet Parsons 32-6. The other winners were Margaret and Rob Finlayson and Hilary Cronk; Alex Whyte, Dave Hadaway and Dave O’Sullivan while the ones who drew were Roy Hart, Peter Parsons and Andy Bartlett.
The Dolphins entertained La Siesta Blues and won a closely fought match with the two points for the overall score. John Rae, Dave McGaw and Roger Stacey won 18-15; Brian Duff, Martin Butler and Maria Duff won 19-11 while John and Shirley Withers and Angela Butler made sure we won the overall with a 27-6 win.
Last but not least the Seagulls nearly got their revenge when La Manga Crusaders visited us. 12-2 winners we were. Len Daniels, Steve Hindle and Berni Carr 29-12; Keep it in the family, Sue Daniels, Mike Stone and Mo Taylor 32-11; John Morgan, Clive Pratt and Dave Bulfield 31-6; Colin Armitage, Arthur Cronk and Anne Stone 23-10; Dave Taylor, Gina Hindle and Lynne Armitage 22-15.
LA SIESTA BOWLS CLUB BY ROD EDGERTON
The week began with no fixture for the Pioneers and so the only match involved the Apollos who had a home match,in very windy weather, against Emerald Isle Neptunes.Despite convincing wins for Barbara and Jack Cooper with Vic Mahomet 32-6 and Irene Laverick with Pat and Brian Harman 20-12 the only other point came from Ann and Robert Heath who rescued a draw 18-18 with a final end getting four shots. The overall shots being 97-110.The points 9 to the Isle 5 to La Siesta.
Mixed fortunes in The Fed 4’s with the Hoopoes gaining a 6-2  home win against Montemar whilst the Parakeets lost away at Horadada by the same scoreline. Wins for the Hoopoes came from Rod Edgerton,Bill Jordan with Florence and Mike Edwards 23-7 and by Val Dalton,Norman Adcroft Jack Cooper and George Richardson 18-14 whilst Ann and Robert Heath with Tony Dalton and Vic Mahomet lost by a single shot. The winning rink for the Parakeets,in tricky conditions, at Horadada came from Joy and Brian Gardiner with Tony Campbell and Jean Cooper 17-14.
The Winter League saw the visit of Vistabella to our home and they gained revenge from the reverse fixture with a 10-2 win. Our winning rink was Joy Gardiner,Trish Reilly with Bill and Sue Jordan who won 25-15.Bad luck for the rink of Ann Edgerton, Jack Cooper,Pat Reilly and Mike Edwards who lost by a single shot in a match that was in doubt until the skips delivered their last bowl.
The Blues travelled to La Marina to play the Dolphins and suffered a narrow 8-6 reverse the shots score being a close 85-93. Winning rinks for La Siesta were Ann and Robert Heath with Pat Harman 23-9,Joy Gardiner,John Taylor and Jean Cooper 16-8 and Barbara Cooper,Vic Mahomet and Mike Edwards 14-12.
Not such good news for the Golds who lost their away match at Emerald Isle Outlaws without recording any winning rinks. On the day they faced some excellent bowling by their opponents.
Finally, some good news to report one of our stalwart members Roy Millward is at last out of hospital and on his way to recovery, although not yet available to receive visitors. We look forward to seeing both him and Sheila back on the rink as soon as possible.

EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB.
The week started with The Broncos entertaining La Siesta Pioneers and played very well to take 5 rinks and the overall shots, a good result on a difficult day. As we know the losing rink can be just down to the luck of the rink and opponents draw. Meanwhile The Pintos were at Emerald Isle playing the Titans and although play was a mixed bag, though sufficient had a good day to enable us to come away with 2 rinks, never a bad away result.
On Friday the Raiders had a bye. Whilst the Mustangs were at Country Bowls playing the Gheckos, the mat was playing unexpectedly narrow and fast whilst heavy with due, but slowed down rapidly and widened as it quickly dried.
With several close run rinks the Mustangs came away with one rink and a draw, of course results can often be a result of rink and opponent draw as well as play. Judy Foley, Keith Cunningham and Geoff Jones 16-18. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Carolyn Harris 15-17. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 21-16. Irene Thomson, Jim Taylor and Eddie Thomson 12-21. June Whitworth, Jane Hamill and Stew Hamill 17-17. Bob Morgan, Merv Armstrong and David Whitworth 14-19.

COSTA BLANCA BOWLS ROUNDUP 22 JANUARY 17
LA MARINA BOWLS CLUB REPORT BY BARRY LATHAM
What a couple of great games in each of the Monday leagues.  Unfortunately both our teams lost 8-6. In the Enterprise Division the Explorers played San Luis Klingons away, both sides had 3 winning rinks but the space travellers got the overall shots. Alex Whyte, Dave Hadaway and Kathy Manning won 19-15. Likewise Tom Spencer, Mike Smith and Anne Stone beat the Jones’s 17-14 and the other winning rink by one shot, was Margaret and Rob Finlayson with Maureen Kidd. So to the Discovery League where the Pathfinders at home played La Siesta Apollos.
Barry Latham
How about this for a close result, two wins each, two draws each, two losses each and the Apollos had one shot advantage to get the extra points. Colin and Lynn Armitage with Clive Pratt and also Jean Perchard, Bernie Carr and Peter Bailey both drew 17-17 all against their opposition.  The two winners were John Morgan, Paul Tregoing and Mo Taylor plus John Withers, Martin Butler and Alan Wilcock.  I bet that doesn’t happen very often unless Arthur can tell me different. Winter League in the true sense and a little bit of history in our case.  Went to La Siesta to play our match only to be snowed off. Never before in La Marina history.
With the torrential rain that followed on Thursday the Dolphins and the Sharks had their games called off.  The Seagulls played  San Miguel Jaguars in glorious sunshine on Friday afternoon only to lose 10-4.  Disappointing but they were a good side. Sue Daniels, Mike Stone and Mo Taylor had a fine win and so did Colin Armitage, Arthur Cronk and Ann Stone.
SAN LUIS BOWLS CLUB REPORT 20.01.17.
Talking about the weather is quite normal for us Brits, but even our Spanish neighbours have been amazed by this week’s events.
South Alicante Winter Triples: Monday 16th, Enterprise Div. SL Klingons home v LM Explorers, useful points 8-6, 106 shots-91. Winners: Shirley Verity, Jo & Julian Pering 17-14, Colin Jackson, Sabrina & Russell Marks 26-8, Kath Reid, Keith Phillips, Giuseppe Galelli 20-18.
San Luis Bowls Club
SL Trekkers, away v VB Albatrosses had a tough match 4pts-10, 79 shots-108. Winners: Margaret & Barry Roseveare, Neil Morrison 14-13, Mags Haines, Derrick Cooper, Brian Pocock 15-11. Discovery Div. SL Romulans, away v a strong EI Titans team, took 4pts-10, shots 86-146. Well done to: Sheila Reynolds, Derek Smith, Margaret Clarke 22-19, Kath Waywell, Chris Phillips, Harry Epsom 17-12.
Winter League: Wednesday 18th away v Greenlands, was “SNOWED OFF” to be replayed Tuesday 31st. Just when we thought the weather couldn’t give us any more surprises, suddenly there was snow- it came at different times and different ways from big, soft snowflakes drifting down at 8:00 am. around Horadada, Cabo Roig & La Florida but only reaching Greenlands, where it was initially clear and dry, around 10:00am. Suddenly there was a white cloud of mini “polystyrene balls” type snow smothering everything. In a pre match test the jack was able to travel a few feet before stopping, the bowls ran a short distance before turning into “snow-bowls” as they ground to a halt.
Thursday 19th FED 4’s League all matches completely washed out by torrential rain;
Div A SL Ospreys; away v SM Cherokees, Div B SL Condors away v SM Mohawks
Div C SL Bazas home v EI Shamrocks, all matches to be re-arranged.
Finally the elements relented to allow the matches to be played; Friday 20th LLB Southern League, SL Lions a bad day at the office v MM Matadors, although very close on shots 105-108, points 2-12. Winners: Pat & Graham Bird, Peter McEneany 19-14. SL Tigers away v VB Picadores, a tough match: shots 95-136, 4pts-10. Well done to: Allen Bowen, Les Bedford, Sue Cooper 21-12, Margaret & Barry Roseveare, Neil Morrison 22-14. SL Pumas home v MM Toreadores, useful points 6-8, 90 shots-113. Winners: Chris Lythe, Margaret Clarke, Norman Stephens 20-16, Margaret Stephens, Terry Baylis, Geoff Shand 23-9.

Voyager League Eagles had a bye.
Winter League snow-bowling! With snow falling all around, our home game v San Miguel got off to a tricky start, it was adjourned after five ends and resumed after hot drinks and a break in the weather.. though only briefly, sufficient ends were played before it became too difficult. Terrible freezing conditions out there but pleased to get the game played. Well done everyone concerned and it was a good win for the home team. L Bishop, P Tomkins, A Brown & I Kenyon 16-6. EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB.
Monday found The Pintos playing away to Monte Mar Torreadores, a venue most of us enjoy playing, certainly I do, but alas, quite rightly it was my turn to be rested. The Pintos came away with 2 rinks and judging by the shots, several rinks could have gone either way, a fair result.  Judy Foley, Ann Taylor and Jim Taylor 18-17. Pam Harris, Liam Foley and John Skipper 15-20. Emma Walsh, Brian Harris and Merv Armstrong 12-27. Val Ryder, Barry Bright and Geoff Jones 15-19. Henry Ryder, Jan Bright and Richard Lee 16-23. Jim Gracie, Irene Thomson and Eddie Thomson 17-16.
Meanwhile The Broncos had a bye and played a friendly match against Vistabella.
On Friday The Mustangs played The Cougars at San Miguel, on a saturated mat that remained so despite the day changing from miserable to glorious, within the duration of the match. But the mat was playable and we had a good close match in great company. The Mustangs came away with two rinks and one drawn, a good result with just a 13 shot deficit.  Jim Taylor, Irene Thomson and Eddie Thomson 24-11. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 20-23. June Whitfield, Jane Hamill and Stew Hamill 19-19. Henry Ryder, Merv Armstrong and David Whitworth 7-23. Judy Foley, Keith Cunningham and Geoff Jones 13-24. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Carolyn Harris 17-13.
The Raider’s Home match against Emerald Isle Outlaws was postponed due to the mat being unplayable; the new play date is yet to be decided. For membership details contact Brian Taylor on 965077093 or at [email protected] or Carolyn Harris on 966774316 or at [email protected]
