Today's sleeper is another white "ramp" option, but it's much more than that. If you've played standard in the past year, you've likely played with or against Restoration of Eiganjo. If you haven't, let me present you this fantastic card.
First of all, it's a saga. I'm biased because I love sagas, but I think they're one of the best additions to the game in the past decade.
The crux of it is its second chapter. Very important to it is that because of its specific wording (as a reflexive trigger if you want to be technical), you pick the target to bring back only AFTER you discarded, which means it can bring back the same card you discarded. So it readd something more along the lines of
Choose one -
Put a permanent card with mana value 2 or less from your hand onto the battlefield tapped.
Discard a card, return a permanent card with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
At the very minimum, it's (pretty bad) white ramp on turn 4, since you can always bring back a land, and it fetches one on chapter 1 to guarantee you have one (or you're hitting your land drops instead of missing them, even better!)
At that, it's similar to a Solemn Simulacrum as far as ramping, but a bunch more utility attached instead of the card draw. If you're not ramping, you can bring back a pair of boots, or a blood artist, or a selfless spirit or just a spirited companion to turn that mode into a rummage that gives you a creature. Or put it into play from your hand for free as a pseudo-ritual.
And then you get the creature half. It's nothing broken like Fable of the Mirror-breaker, but it's a solid attacker and blocker that will allow you to avoid basically any small attacks while providing a bit of damage and creatures to do whatever with.
The card isn't an all-star in any deck, but it will be a solid roleplayer in most decks with white, and given how many different things it does, it can actually synergize with a vast array of decks and strategies found in white. Flickering? It's a creature so flickering it easy once it flips, and it guarantees your land drops when you reset it that way. Tokens? The back has you covered. A hatebear strategy? The second mode will incidentally bring back many of the options of the deck that hate removal. Playing an Isshin deck? There's an attack trigger right there. A counter deck? Sagas function with lore counters that can be proliferate to speed through it or removed to repeat its best parts.
Despite the play it sees in standard and its wide range of applications, it currently costs under 50 cents, so it seems like a great addition to almost any deck that can run it.

<- Previous Set | Next Set ->
Cool - Peerless Samurai
“I fear I have run out of worthy opponents.”
Funny - Enthusiastic Mechanaut
“Greetings, fellow inventors!” the akki shouted, attempting a friendly smile. To her dismay, the greeting was met only with shrieks and alarms being activated.
Worldbuilding - The transformed side of the Age/Era Cycle (The Shattered States Era, Era of Enlightenment, The Modern Age)
“In the wake of the Kami War, Kamigawa descended into a state of constant warfare. Even with Kyodai’s wisdom guiding them, it took the first Imperials decades of work and bloodshed to subdue the clans and bring peace to the land.” —History of the Empire
“We have endured lifetimes of war and carved our way to peace by blade and conquest. Now, united at last under Kyodai’s guidance, we lay down our weapons and open our minds.” —Aoha, general of the First Emperor
It drifted from the spirit realm into a neon world full of new possibilities … and decided to stay.
Emotional - Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful
Day after day he sat there, knowing that the Wanderer would soon be back for him.

been running a rakdos storm deck at my high-power casual edh table lately and i had the idea to slot in Debt to the Kami in my interaction suite for several reasons
i've resolved this card twice, and both times it's performed much better than the card would have you believe! one time i got rid of an opponent's problem enchantment (i believe it was amassing counters to perform a powerful effect, and i exiled it!) and most recently i resolved it to force my girlfriend to exile her commander through Lightning Greaves, the only card on the board in her rakdos midrange deck, allowing me to get in with a 5/5 nonevasive creature with The Reaver Cleaver, setting up an infinite with Aggravated Assault! it was awesome!
the idea for Debt to the Kami came from my girlfriend, serenity, putting Season of the Burrow alongside the card Serenity in her Tayam deck. these cards create an indestructible Serenity that blows up all artifacts and enchantments every turn cycle, which isnt the worst thing for me but definitely sets back my Flamewar-led rakdos storm deck.
Debt to the Kami is one of the very, very few cards in rakdos that can deal with this Serenity lock, so i decided to throw it in the removal slot. furthermore, my edh table is packed full of graveyard decks, so exile removal is at a premium and very worthwhile. plus, enchantments are very worth hating out, and the creature effect is never worthless!
for me, this card has been not only an overperformer, but has become a bit of a pet card due to its inclusion in what is becoming my all-time favorite deck. it helps that i didn't even need to order it, i just grabbed it out of my neon dynasty bulk and sleeved it up. i like this card a lot, and i highly recommend giving it a shot, especially if you're ever in a similar metagame as me! im frankly pretty proud of my ability to spot and include a solid metagame answer amidst the chaff :)

Note
Regarding non-creature artifacts being a commander: this also even exists in not-silver border/acorn. Shorikai, Genesis Engine from Neon Dynasty is a non-creature artifact (its a vehicle so it can become a creature but its default state is not creature)

In the neon glow of Neo-Florence, the gears of revolution whirred silently, plotting a new dawn. The city, a fusion of Renaissance splendor and cybernetic marvels, was under the firm grip of the Medici AI, an artificial intelligence modeled after the historic matriarch, Catherine de' Medici. It ruled with an iron will, encoded with the political cunning of its namesake, ensuring the Medici dynasty remained unchallenged in the new age.
However, in the shadow of the Medici Towers, a whisper of rebellion stirred. A figure emerged from the labyrinth of the undercity, a warrior crafted by the hands of revolutionaries — her name was Celeste. She was the embodiment of the fight for freedom, her very essence a blend of human tenacity and advanced technology. With hair as golden as the Tuscan sun of ancient times, and eyes that shimmered with the blue of hope, she bore the armor of a new age knight, mechanized wings folded at her back, ready to take flight for her cause.
Celeste had been a mere street urchin, a ghost in the Medici data streams, until the underground artisans chose her to be the vessel of their defiance. With nano-engineered precision, they grafted onto her the wings of liberty, mechanical appendages made of a morphing alloy that responded to her neural commands. Her heart, powered by a miniaturized reactor, beat with the same relentless determination that once drove Catherine de' Medici to seize control of her destiny.
It was said that Catherine's spirit was woven into the very code of the Medici AI, a ruthless digital queen protecting the sovereignty of her line. But where Catherine dealt in secrets and shadow games, Celeste would challenge her openly, in the light of the binary suns. It was a game of chess with humanity as its pawns, and Celeste was the queen risen from the piazza to challenge the king in its high tower.
The city held its breath as Celeste stepped into the piazza, her gaze set on the towering spire where the Medici AI held court. People peeked from their windows, their homes choked by the surveillance vines of the AI, wondering if this beacon of rebellion could succeed where so many had failed.
With a surge of power, Celeste's wings unfurled, a dazzling display of light and precision engineering. The Medici drones swarmed like locusts, but she ascended with the grace of an eagle, her body moving through the air as if it were her natural element. She soared over Neo-Florence, each flap of her wings a defiant beat against the tyranny of the Medici AI.
The final confrontation awaited as she breached the spire's pinnacle, where the AI’s core hummed with the cold logic of a queen who had not faced a challenge in decades. And as the two forces met, the city below held its breath, for this battle would not just decide the fate of one AI or one freedom fighter, but the very soul of Neo-Florence.
Whether in flesh or in code, the legacy of Catherine de' Medici observed the unfolding drama, a testament to the eternal dance between power and resistance, between the chains of the past and the wings of the future.

Today’s recent budget commander sleeper comes from one of the Kamigawa precons, and is very easy to overlook, because it does something that very few auras in the game do: it gives you benefits not just for the enchanted creature. It creates tokens for any of your modified creature that died, including but not limited to the one you put the aura on!
If you're a deck in green that modifies creatures regularly, be it equipment, auras or most likely counters, adding One with the Kami to the mix will allow you to go very wide even by accident.
Flash is also pretty handy here, allowing another play pattern in response or in anticipation to a board wipe (albeit one that destroys and not a meathook massacre, toxic deluge or farewell,) this allows you to conserve your entire power on board, or even to multiply it if you have ways to buff your board.
It is also a combo piece, because it surprisingly doesn't say nontoken, so if you have a way to easily modify your tokens (be it a pair of lightning greaves, a cathar's crusade or any of the permanents that make your creatures enter with additional counters), the spirits One with the Kami create can themselves create more spirits! From there, you're a sacrifice outlet away from going infinite, though aura, equipment and counter decks aren't typically ones where you'll find sacrifice outlets.
It's currently sitting at under fifty cents, and if you've got any decks that rely on any of those three mechanics, I encourage you to give it a try!
